Fix your 1st gen Dodge Journey yourself with quality auto parts at 1aauto.com

Top 5 Issues with the 1st Gen Dodge Journey (2009 to 2020)

1. heater core problems, symptoms of heater core problems.

  • No heat when the heat is turned on
  • Heat temperature is lower than normal

Causes of a Bad Heater Core

The heater core can clog on the 1st gen Journey from sediment in the coolant.

How to Fix a Bad Heater Core

As a temporary fix you can flush out the heater core by disconnecting the coolant hoses that lead into the firewall and connect to the heater core.

Replacing the heater core includes removing the dash, the steering wheel, and electronics like the radio. The A/C evaporative core is also part of the heater box, so the A/C system will need to be recovered and recharged.

2. Throttle Body Problems

Symptoms of throttle body problems on the 2009 to 2020 dodge journey.

  • High RPMs at idle
  • Rough running engine at idle
  • Check engine light for code P2112 or P2110

How to Fix Throttle Body Problems

Cleaning the throttle body will not fix these problems on the 2009 to 2020 Dodge Journey. The problem is an issue with the internal sensors and motor, so the throttle body will need to be replaced.

3. Key Fob Failure

Symptoms of a bad key fob.

  • Vehicle won’t start
  • Door locks don’t work

How to Fix a Key Fob

If there is another remote, see if it works. If it doesn’t, replacing the key fob battery usually fixes this issue.

4. Thermostat Failure

Symptoms of a bad thermostat.

  • Check engine light for code P0652

How to Fix a Bad Thermostat

Low temperature gauge is a sign of thermostat problems on the 2009 to 2020 Dodge Journey

To replace the thermostat, the thermostat needs to be replaced with the housing as one piece. Since a bad heater core can also cause the symptom of no heat, if the temperature gauge is not in its usual position, the thermostat likely has an issue.

5. Wiper Relay

Symptoms of wiper problems.

  • Wiper speeds not working
  • Windshield wipers not working

Causes of Windshield Wiper Problems

Windshield wiper problems on the 1st gen Dodge Journey tend to stem from issues with the wiper relay. If the wipers won’t turn on, it could be the motor relay, and if the wipers have issues with the settings, it could be the wiper speed relay.

How to Fix Wiper Problems

Pointing to the speed control relay placed next to the identical wiper motor relay

Remove the fuse box cover from the fuses in the engine bay.

Since the relays are the same part number, they could be swapped, so if the wipers are not turning on, try swapping them to see if it’s causing the issue.

If there is an issue with the wipers’ speed, the wiper speed relay will need to be swapped with a new relay to test it.

Reliability

Reliability indicates how models have performed in the past, providing the basis for predicting how the vehicles will hold up in the year ahead. These charts provide the most comprehensive reliability information available to consumers. Based on information received from our latest subscriber survey, our reliability history charts give you a rundown on how used vehicles are holding up in 17 potential trouble spots, ranging from the engine, transmission, and brakes to power equipment and the electrical system.

Dodge vs. Other New Car Brands Reliability

No detailed data available.

Consumer Reports obtains its reliability data from a questionnaire that is sent to subscribers. In the questionnaire, we ask subscribers to note any problems with their cars that occurred in the past 12 months. They are asked to identify problems that they considered serious (because of cost, failure, safety, or downtime).

A typical model has about 200 to 400 samples for each model year. For some model years, typically those of older or less popular cars, we do not have a large enough sample size to provide results of statistical confidence.

There are several ways in which a savvy car buyer can still research the quality of a car.

Dodge Journey Problems: 8 Common Issues (Explained)

' src=

The most common problems and possible solutions are listed below.

Table of Contents

Remote Keyless Entry System Works Intermittently

If your remote keyless entry system starts acting weird and only working sometimes, you might get frustrated.

It’s a huge inconvenience not to have technology work the way you expect it to. But, there’s an easy fix for the problem.

2009 dodge journey engine problems

Probable Causes and Solutions

The most common reason your Dodge Journey remote keyless entry system may begin working intermittently is because there is a problem with the component’s software .

Usually, updating the software will correct the problem.

If you upgrade the software and continue to have problems with the remote keyless ignition system, you should visit a Dodge dealership and have the problem diagnosed.

If the problem isn’t related to a software update, it could be an issue with the keyfob itself. If the keyfob has gone bad, it might be necessary to replace the keyfob.

A Dodge-certified technician can also upgrade the software for you.

Unexplained Dampness Inside a Dodge Journey

If you enter your vehicle and notice unexplained dampness, it could create an uncomfortable ride and be upsetting. Afterall, water isn’t supposed to leak inside a vehicle.

But unexplained dampness inside the vehicle of the Journey is a common problem, and is easily fixed.

Most often, especially in models 2009 to 2018, unexplained dampness in the interior of the Journey is from a water leak .

2009 dodge journey engine problems

Improperly sealed body seams can let water into the vehicle and create dampness.

If this is the reason your Journey is getting wet inside, the problem can be fixed by having the seals replaced and properly installed.

Engine Overheating Due to Coolant Flow Problem

If your Dodge Journey was made between 2009 and 2018, you may have issues with your engine overheating. It seems the problem can occur at anytime during the Journey’s existence.

Vehicles with as low as 20,000 miles have experienced this issue as well as Journeys with well over 100,000 miles too.

Usually, it needs diagnosed by a Dodge mechanic. But, there are easy solutions to prevent this problem from happening again.

If you have debris in your engine, it could cause a coolant flow issue.

If there’s a disruption in your coolant flow, the engine could overheat.

If not corrected, an engine overheating could cause serious damage to the engine. When debris blocks the cylinder head at the coolant port of the thermostat housing, the right amount of coolant won’t reach the engine.

2009 dodge journey engine problems

Removing the debris from the engine and especially around this port fixes the problem.

Check Engine Light with Diagnostic Code P0339

If your check engine light comes on, it’s a good idea to have a diagnostic test to determine what the cause of the warning is.

If you get a P0339 code, there is probably a problem with the vehicle’s crankshaft position sensor.

This issue is most common with 2009, 2010, 2012, and 2016 Dodge Journeys. Also, check our list of typical reasons the check engine light appears .

The crankshaft position sensor check engine light code will cause intermittent loss of power to this component.

To correct this problem, a technician may be able to add a shim to the crankshaft sensor .

If this does not correct the problem, it might be necessary to replace the sensor and flex plate.

Inaccurate Speed Settings and/or Excessive RPMs

If you notice your Journey is revving high or showing that you’re driving excessively, you might have a problem with the vehicle’s powertrain control module (PCM).

This is even more likely if you notice the problem when using cruise control.

Thankfully, inaccurate speed settings and unusually high RPMs can be related to an issue with the Journey’s software.

In most cases, updating the software for the powertrain control module (PCM) will correct the problem.

Updating the software can be done at a Dodge dealership.

Dodge Journey Seats Showing Signs of Corrosion

Dodge Journey 2009, 2010, and 2013 Journeys may show signs of wear, specifically around the seat frames.

If you notice rust around the vehicle’s seat frames, it’s important not to ignore the problem.

Instead, you should take the vehicle to a Dodge dealership to have corrosion inhibitor in the affected areas. There are also revised covers for the second row available to help prevent the issue from progressing.

Rough Idle after Cold Start on Dodge Journey with V6 Engines

2009 and 2010 Dodge Journey drivers have reported rough idling after a cold start .

The problem usually only occurs with Journeys equipped with a V6 engine.

Sometimes when this happens, a check engine light will come on. Diagnostic testing will show code P050D.

If your vehicle is showing a P050D diagnostic code, the rough idling after a cold start could be due to a problem with the powertrain control module (PCM).

After a mechanic diagnoses the problem, they can tell you whether a software upgrade will correct the issue, or if a replacement part is needed.

Dodge Journey is Stuck in Park

There’s nothing more frustrating then getting in your vehicle and realizing it won’t start. If your Journey is stuck in park, you will need to see a technician to have the problem corrected.

Dodge is aware of this problem and has issued a recall to correct the issue.

A Journey shifter getting stuck in park is likely due to the material used to create the shifter .

Making an appointment at a Dodge dealership will give technicians the opportunity to replace the parts and ensure you’re vehicle shifts every time you need it too.

Dodge Journey Brakes Wearing Out Prematurely

Some people go through brake pads faster than others, but if you drive a Dodge Journey, it might not be your fault. When the car manufacturer created the 2009 and 2010 Journeys, they did so with the best SUV technology and developed a crossover vehicle that was pleasurable to drive.

But they added brakes that were more suitable to a sedan.

The sedan brakes created a need for new brakes at just about 12,000 miles.

Dodge drivers filed a class-action lawsuit that extended the warranty of the vehicle’s brakes by three years.

If you notice your brakes have worn out quickly on your Journey, it’s a good idea to have them checked out.

Of course, it’s also important to have the parts replaced as needed to ensure the vehicle is safe to drive.

General Pros and Cons of the Dodge Journey

Used car values are constantly changing. Edmunds lets you track your vehicle's value over time so you can decide when to sell or trade in.

Edmunds' Expert Review

  • Minivan-like interior conveniences, plenty of advanced entertainment and communications options, quiet highway ride.
  • Some down-market interior trim, lackluster driving dynamics.

The 2009 Dodge Journey is an all-new midsize crossover SUV derived from the Avenger sedan and capable of seating up to seven passengers.

Edmunds says

The 2009 Dodge Journey is the brand's long-overdue pitch to buyers who want minivan conveniences without the minivan stigma. It's versatile and spacious, but it doesn't really stand out against more polished competitors.

Cost to Drive Cost to drive estimates for the 2009 Dodge Journey SE 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 4A) and comparison vehicles are based on 15,000 miles per year (with a mix of 55% city and 45% highway driving) and energy estimates of $3.55 per gallon for regular unleaded in North Dakota.

Vehicle overview.

A late arrival on the bustling midsize crossover SUV scene, the 2009 Dodge Journey serves as a timely stand-in for Chrysler's departed short-wheelbase minivans. The Journey is related to the Avenger and Chrysler Sebring midsize sedans, but thanks in part to a 4.9-inch-longer wheelbase, it offers ample room for up to seven occupants.

The Journey excels on the inside, where the influence of Chrysler's minivans is unmistakable. From the Flip 'n Stow storage compartment under the front passenger seat to the Chill Zone glovebox beverage cooler, the Journey is loaded with clever, well-conceived minivan-style conveniences. It can also be had with MyGIG, Chrysler's hard-drive-based navigation and entertainment system.

Pricing is one of the Journey's strengths, as even the base SE model is fairly well-equipped and slips in just beneath the $20,000 mark. Unfortunately, however, the standard four-cylinder engine and four-speed automatic transmission aren't quite up to the task of motivating the hefty SE's 3,800 pounds with anything close to authority. The uplevel SXT and R/T models fare a bit better, thanks to a more capable V6 engine and six-speed automatic, but there's little doubt that athletic prowess isn't the Journey's strong suit. Even the sport-styled R/T comes off less planted and certainly less fun to drive than some of its rivals.

Overall, the 2009 Dodge Journey gets the basics right -- it's attractive, quiet and reasonably spacious. But it falls a bit short in a few key areas. Its interior is less refined than those found in competitors like the Hyundai Santa Fe and Toyota RAV4, for instance. It's also less enjoyable to drive than the Mitsubishi Outlander and not as roomy as the Ford Taurus X. Still, the Journey's attractive pricing and interior amenities will likely make it worth a look.

Performance & mpg

The base-model Journey SE comes with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine rated for 173 horsepower and 166 pound-feet of torque. It drives the front wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. Uplevel SXT and R/T trim levels employ a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 235 horsepower and 232 pound-feet of torque. It's matched to a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift control. On these trim levels, buyers have a choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

The EPA gives an AWD Journey a 15 mpg city/22 mpg highway fuel economy estimate, about average for this segment.

Every 2009 Journey includes antilock disc brakes, traction control, rollover-sensing stability control, front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags for all three rows. A rearview camera and hands-free communication system are optional, as are very handy built-in second-row child booster seats, a first in this segment.

The 2009 Journey is no lightweight, with even the base SE model tipping the scales at a hefty 3,800 pounds. The standard four-cylinder engine from the Avenger sedan, although reasonably frugal, is simply out of its league here. The V6 in the SXT and R/T models is decidedly more appropriate, returning decent acceleration and passing power.

On the open road, the Journey is tranquil enough, but it often feels insubstantial and fussy. Body roll, even in the sporty R/T model, is disconcerting at times. Standard four-wheel antilock disc brakes provide good stopping power, but more pedal feel would be appreciated.

Although the 2009 Dodge Journey offers somewhat less passenger and cargo space than such rivals as the Toyota Highlander, the overall impression is of a bright, reasonably spacious, straightforward family hauler. The Journey will accommodate as many as seven occupants in decent comfort; second- and third-row seats feature reclining backs, and the second-row seats also slide fore and aft, allowing parents to scoot small children closer to the front seats. Access to the third-row seats is a breeze, easily accomplished by older kids, with only an easy pull of a lever required to operate the second-row seats' tilt-and-slide mechanism. There's also obvious influence from Chrysler's minivans, as the Journey's interior is awash in cupholders, lidded storage bins and cubbyholes, including tubs beneath the second-row floor and an ingenious compartment beneath the front passenger seat. Maximum cargo capacity is 67.6 cubic feet, a bit less than what's available from other midsize crossovers.

2009 Dodge Journey models

A midsize crossover SUV, the 2009 Dodge Journey comes in SE, SXT and R/T trim levels. All models have seating for five or, with the optional 50/50-split folding third-row bench available on the SXT and R/T, seven.

The base SE comes with 16-inch steel wheels, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, air-conditioning, a six-speaker stereo with a six-disc CD/MP3 changer, and full power accessories. The midgrade SXT adds 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlamps, heated side mirrors, a trip computer, keyless entry, enhanced interior storage, stain-resistant cloth upholstery, a six-way power driver seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a 115-volt power outlet and satellite radio. Finally, the top-drawer R/T features 19-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated audio controls and a remote engine-start system.

Dodge bundles most of the Journey's optional features into packages, and one can get much of the upper trim levels' features as options for the lower trims. Other major options include a chrome appearance package, Bluetooth, auxiliary rear air-conditioning/heating, a rear-seat entertainment system and the MyGIG hard-drive-based navigation and entertainment system with a back-up camera.

How we rated the best and worst Dodge Journey years

During our evaluation of the Dodge Journey as a model, we’ve gone through the reports on various model years based on several sources. First, we relied on trustworthy organizations like the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and we went through their records including details on recalls and common driver complaints.

After that, we’ve done some more digging on Dodge Journey recalls through reliable platforms like Cars.com, as well as sources of authority like Edmunds and Kelly Blue Book. As mentioned, we wanted to give you honest Dodge Journey reviews and we could only do that by citing some forums with real experiences of previous drivers and Journey owners.

Most common Dodge Journey problems

The Dodge Journey might be a safe and reliable vehicle. However, it is not exempt from faults and flaws. Among the Dodge Journey most common problems you could run upon are brake problems, defective remote keyless entry systems, interior water leaks, or even damaged head gaskets, so we’ll discuss each of those in more detail.

1. Overheating engine

Engine issues are a common issue in faulty Dodge Journey model years. For the Dodge Journey, these problems happened in the 2009-2016 model years, causing overheating once they hit the 78,000-mile mark. This problem is likely caused by coolant flow challenges due to debris locking the cylinder head coolant port at its primary thermostat housing.

At first, the vehicle’s temperature light may turn on, but this worsens over time. Some Journey owners complained that their vehicles experienced engine power loss , leading to overheating. The vehicle may also develop coolant leaks, which become excessive for its overflow reservoir, causing coolant fluid to spill over.

These engine problems are usually expensive and dangerous, depending on where they happen. For a driver, you don’t want to encounter engine issues every day.

2. Brake problems

Brake issues were the most common troubles that plagued the Dodge Journey, especially its 2009-2010 model years. The brakes on these models wear out prematurely , which happens to relatively new Journey vehicles at about 30,000 miles. Some drivers mentioned that this issue has become severe, requiring them to replace their brakes every three months.

The abovementioned issues are among the few brake-related problems you could face if you purchase a problematic Dodge Journey model year. These issues are inconvenient and dangerous, especially for driving at high speeds. You want to avoid a vehicle that struggles with maintaining proper brakes.

3. Defective remote keyless entry system

The Dodge Journey has many cool features, and the remote keyless system is supposed to be one of them. Instead, the keyless system is another Dodge Journey feature that has become problematic for drivers.

Many frustrated owners complain that the system doesn’t work correctly as it gives off either wrong key readings or the annoying “key not detected” message. The system sometimes interferes with the key fob, preventing drivers from locking or unlocking the doors. To fix this issue, owners may need to do a software update.

4. Interior water leaks

Some owners of the 2009-2018 Dodge Journey models have expressed discomfort caused by dampness inside the cabin. The cabin appears vulnerable to water leaks , typically at a low mileage of about 50,000 to 60,000 miles. According to complaints from owners, the driver’s seat floor of the Dodge Journey may become wet when they travel in the rain.

Other drivers complained that they noticed leaks near the side of the Journey, causing wet floors and carpets. Additionally, some drivers reported leaks near windows, headliners, and vents, and you may need a professional to fix the leaks and resolve the issue.

5. Damaged head gasket

This is another notorious Dodge Journey issue among vehicle owners. Drivers note that this problem commonly happens at about 100,000 miles. It might begin with performance issues and graduate to engine failure over time. This may be due to cracked or damaged head gaskets.

Some drivers have reported having leaky or blown head gaskets , causing severe damage to the engine. Experts recommend a compression test to verify if your Journey has faulty head gaskets. If they are defective, you may replace them yourself if you are a DIYer or have a professional do the job.

Worst Dodge Journey years to avoid

The Dodge Journey has had several great models; however, there are also some model years you should avoid if you intend to purchase a Dodge Journey. Below is a list of Journey model years to avoid:

Naturally, our team will get you through all these model years and their issues so you can have an easier time picking the most reliable Journey model.

First-generation Journey (2009-2012 model years)

The 2009 Dodge Journey was the first model of this generation, and it was associated with numerous problems and complaints from drivers. Its prevalent issue was with the brakes, and many drivers complained of frequent brake replacements within a short timeframe. These drivers point out that the vehicle is too heavy for the brake pads and rotors.

Other drivers reported that regardless of how gentle you are with the vehicle, it doesn’t stop the brakes from wearing out at 30,000 miles or earlier. Additionally, the braking power isn’t sufficient for the size of the vehicle and can lead to disastrous accidents in the worst cases.

Another issue of the 2009 model year was with its transmission, which caused rough gear shifting . Some drivers complained that shifting the vehicle out of the first gear was difficult, especially during cold weather. Also, several drivers report that their transmission fails at around 60,000 miles, causing them to abandon the vehicle.

The 2009 and 2010 models were also plagued by electrical faults that prevented the engine from turning over, which may be caused by the neutral safety switch losing communication with the shifter. Most drivers had to put their vehicles in neutral to get the engine to start up. Some drivers also complained that they experience these issues on other components like the horn, windows, radios, etc.

2011 Dodge model year also had issues with the brakes, but unlike the 2009-2010 models, which had brakes that required premature replacements , the 2011 model had brakes that made grinding and squealing sounds. In addition to the noises, drivers complain that their 2011 Journey shakes the steering wheel while braking.

2005 Dodge Journey

Based on all the available NHTSA records and reliability reports, the 2005 Dodge Journey is the best model to date. It only received a few complaints including some engine cooling difficulties, but none of those reports were sufficient to place the model on a list of problematic years.

With a clean reliability record , the model scored a decent overall rating of 4 out of 5 based on reliable automotive agencies.

2017 Dodge Journey

As for the later model years, the 2017 Dodge Journey made it to the list as one of the most reliable options. It received model-specific concerns with some of the main complaints being related to A/C heater faults and electrical malfunctions.

2020 Dodge Journey

Finally, we can’t leave out the 2020 Journey model which also proved to be pretty reliable with just under 10 reliability concerns. Among those, drivers have mostly reported problems with seat belts and brakes, while the model received an overall rating of 4.2 out of 5 on Cars.com and similar sources.

Is the Dodge Journey worth buying?

The Dodge Journey is an excellent SUV with remarkable performance. However, it doesn’t have a reasonable edge over its rivals, as consumers complain that the vehicle is made from cheap interior materials and lacks a host of safety features that can be found in most competitors.

If you’re eyeing versatile SUVs check out Ford Explorer Sport Trac years to avoid , Nissan Xterra years to avoid , or Mitsubishi Outlander years to avoid . While these vehicles are known for their ruggedness and capability, it’s vital to consider that not all model years have lived up to expectations.

10 Used Dodge Models You Should Steer Clear Of At All Costs

2013 Dodge Dart near field

The Dodge brand is one of the most recognized in American automotive manufacturing and has been responsible for many iconic cars over the decades. Alongside the highlights, however, there have been plenty of lowlights. Dodge has had its fair share of quality control issues over the years, with some cars in the brand's back catalog being particularly troublesome for owners.

SlashGear used data from the NHTSA's recall and owner complaints database to round up these models that rank among the worst for dependability. This is not an exhaustive list of every Dodge model year with problems, but rather aimed to be a general guide to give used buyers an idea of which cars are worth avoiding. After all, no one wants to spend their hard-earned cash on a car that turns out to be a money pit. Or, even worse, one that turns out to be potentially dangerous to drive.

2009 Dodge Journey

The minivan segment was in decline throughout the mid '00s, and Dodge needed a way to appeal to buyers looking for something a little more on-trend, but just as practical. The brand's answer was the Journey crossover, which debuted for the 2009 model year. It received a lukewarm reception from critics, some of whom pointed out its unremarkable handling and styling in a fiercely competitive segment. Unfortunately for 2009 Journey owners, its reliability record is much less middling — in fact, the car is one of the most troublesome Dodges produced this century.

It's subject to eight recalls according to the NHTSA, with issues concerning everything from a faulty ignition switch to a defective power steering return hose. The agency has also logged over 1,500 owner complaints for the model year, with over 800 concerning the car's electrical systems. Owners have reported electrical faults, including headlights turning on and off by themselves, starter motors repeatedly failing, and even short circuits leading to the car catching fire.

Many report that a faulty TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) was found to be the cause, although other drivers report being unable to properly diagnose the problem even after taking it to multiple mechanics. The 2010 Journey also suffers a similarly high level of owner complaints, with a smaller number of owners continuing to report electrical problems for model years as recent as 2017.

2005 Dodge Durango

Several model years of the second generation Dodge Durango fare poorly on complaints according to NHTSA data, with the 2005 Durango the worst of the bunch. It has received over 1,500 owner complaints to date, ahead of the 2004 Durango, which has received over 1,100 complaints. It has also been subject to nine recalls, ranging from faulty wiring to a malfunctioning valve in the fuel tank. The latter issue seems to persist among Durango owners despite the recall, with over 500 owner complaints concerning the problem. The two recalls involving fuel tank components were issued in 2005 and 2009, but drivers have reported issues as recently as 2023.

Other issues reportedly affecting the 2005 Durango include partial or total transmission failure, with over 200 owners alleging powertrain issues of some kind. Many cite the car's four-wheel-drive system as the culprit. The SUV is also the subject of two active NHTSA investigations, both involving issues with Takata-supplied airbags. These investigations are wide-ranging and not just limited to the Durango, or indeed Dodge vehicles — in fact, one of the investigations also lists cars from the Jeep Wrangler to the Ferrari LaFerrari as potentially affected models.

1995 Dodge Neon

SlashGear is, in general, a fan of the Dodge Neon — it is one of the Dodge cars most worth resurrecting . It was a cheap, capable runabout that was generally hassle free to own, although not every model year could claim to be the latter. The 1995 model year is the worst offender, with the NHTSA recording nearly 1,200 complaints about the car to date. It's also been the subject of 11 recalls.

The nature of the owner complaints is varied. Over 300 owners reported problems with the engine and cooling systems, and more than 200 complained of issues with the brakes. Electrical systems were also cited over a hundred times, alongside issues with airbag deployment or failure. Given that any 1995 Neon on the market today will likely sport higher mileage and therefore more worn components even without the added reliability issues, it's almost certainly worth giving it a miss.

2001 Dodge Ram 1500

A series of issues have been reported with the 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, with many leading to recalls. The 2001 model year has been subject to 16 recalls according to NHTSA data, with the most recent being a lighting defect identified in 2009. In addition to its recall troubles, the truck has received close to 1,500 complaints from owners, with a large proportion of those concerning the dashboard. Hundreds of owners submitted reports detailing how their trucks' dash disintegrated over time, with many reporting sustaining injuries of various kinds due to sharp pieces of dash plastic.

Some drivers even reported pieces of plastic flying into their eyes while driving, while others say the crumbling dash pieces have caused serious problems with their trucks' electrical systems. Various other issues have also been reported with the powertrain, steering, and brakes, as well as reports of defective airbags as recently as March 2024.

2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

The Dodge Grand Caravan received a thorough revamp for the 2008 model year, with significant improvements made to both its exterior styling and the tech available in its cabin. However, the minivan's persistent reliability issues make it worth avoiding for used buyers today. The NHTSA has recorded over 1,200 complaints regarding the 2008 Grand Caravan as of this writing, plus eight recalls. The majority of owner complaints — over 800 of them — concern the car's electrical systems.

The failure reports paint a similar picture to that of the 2009 Dodge Journey, with drivers alleging that their cars' lights and wipers could randomly turn on or off without warning, often while driving, and electronic door locks could stick either on or off. These faults varied in severity, with some drivers reporting their cars would only occasionally have problems while others deemed their cars completely undrivable. Like the Journey, some owners have traced the problem to a faulty TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module). However, others report being unable to find the root cause of the issue even after multiple attempted repairs have been completed.

1999 Dodge Durango

With four recalls and over 2,000 owner complaints lodged with the NHTSA, the 1999 Dodge Durango is one of the most complained about Dodge cars on the road today. Over half of those complaints concern the SUV's suspension, particularly its ball joints. A variety of problems have been reported, from defective ball joints causing premature tire wear to partial suspension failure causing steering loss while driving.

Other reports allege problems with the car's engine, with scores of owners claiming that engines would frequently stall while driving. This was most often reported on days when the outside temperature was unusually hot, but some owners also reported the same issue on unusually cold days. Several reports also cite a common error — a "No Bus" warning — linked to the PCM (Powertrain Control Module), but others claim to have replaced the PCM multiple times and still have not fixed the problem. Alongside the 1999 Durango, the 2000 Durango also suffers similar issues, with over 1,100 owner complaints registered with the NHTSA.

2013 Dodge Dart

The Dodge Dart was discontinued not once but twice, with the second iteration of the car killed off due to a lackluster reception from both critics and buyers and subsequent poor sales. The car has attracted an unusually high number of complaints in the years since it was discontinued, with the NHTSA recording over 1,200 complaints to date. Over 500 complaints concern the powertrain, many of which cite transmission failure as their reason for the report. A 2019 recall was issued for the shifter cable bushing, but owners have reported transmission failure as recently as 2024.

Other common complaints include the failure of the clutch pedal, with a defective clutch slave cylinder often cited as the problem. Hundreds of other drivers have had issues with brakes failing, with complaints lodged as recently as 2023 despite a recall being issued for the brake booster in 2015. In total, six recalls have been issued for the car to date, although considering the stream of complaints that have continued pouring into the NHTSA, it seems they haven't been entirely effective in remedying the Dart's flaws.

2006 Dodge Charger

The Dodge Charger is an iconic nameplate with plenty of legendary models in its history, but the 2006 Charger was a mixed bag. It marked the return of the Charger name after decades away, but the new platform suffered significant quality control issues making it best to avoid on the used market today. The NHTSA has recorded five recalls and close to 1,300 complaints as of this writing. Over 300 of those complaints concern the fuel system, with one main problem reported — after filling the tank with gas, owners reported the car's engine repeatedly stalling, often when on the road. A further 300 complaints are categorized as engine issues, although many concern the exact same problem.

Drivers have also reported various problems with the car's electrical systems, many of those involving a sudden loss of power. Airbags are also a common issue, with owners continuing to report defective airbags as recently as 2023 despite two recalls being issued for them in 2015 and 2016. The 2007 and 2008 model year Chargers also recorded an abnormally high number of owner complaints, with roughly 550 and 600 complaints logged respectively. The 2011 and 2012 model years are also troublesome, with more than 600 complaints each.

1996 Dodge Caravan

It might have been one of the most innovative, forward-thinking minivans of its time, but the 1996 Dodge Caravan doesn't hold up for long-term reliability. The NHTSA has logged 1,647 complaints and 18 recalls concerning the minivan to date — with that many recalls it will be extremely difficult for any used buyer to check they've been carried out correctly. Owner complaints are plentiful and varied, with hundreds of owners reporting various electrical issues including persistent dashboard warning lights and gauges malfunctioning.

Another common cause for concern was the car's serpentine belt, which some owners reported replacing multiple times after repeated failure. High oil consumption is also consistently reported, alongside issues with the ABS. Airbags are also reported to be one of the most frequent failure points, with over 250 complaints as of this writing. The issues flagged by owners are most commonly reported in 1996 models, although several following model years also have higher complaints than average.

2000 Dodge Intrepid

The 2000 Dodge Intrepid was let down by its engine, with almost 800 of the 1,094 complaints listed by the NHTSA concerning engine issues. Owners reported consistent problems with the engine's oil levels, with the issue usually occurring at short notice and resulting in significant or terminal engine damage. In many cases, drivers allege the engine seized while they were on the road, with smoke appearing or the car shuddering shortly before the failure.

No recall has been issued regarding the problem, but nine other recalls have been issued over the car's lifespan. Several issues were identified with the safety of the car's seats, with the most recent seat recall launched in 2003 regarding a defective reclining bolt. A 2001 recall was also issued over the vehicle's failure to comply with federal crash protection standards, while a previous recall from 2000 addressed an issue with the brake master cylinder.

Our selection methodology

All of SlashGear's data for compiling this list was sourced from the NHTSA's database. The database covers every Dodge model sold officially in the U.S. from 1990 up to the present day and includes information on recalls, active and past investigations, and owner complaints made to the agency. We considered all three factors when deciding which Dodge models to include, with significantly higher levels of owner complaints than average being the primary criteria for inclusion.

High recall levels were also a secondary criteria, as used buyers often have little information available to them at the point of purchase about whether a car has had recall work completed. A higher number of recalls increases the chance that any given used car has not had one or more of the recalled issues rectified. As noted above, this is not intended to be a definitive guide to every problematic used Dodge model, but rather a general roundup of past model years with notable, well-documented flaws.

US probes complaint that woman was trapped in flaming SUV

The investigation covers more than 82,000 dodge journeys from the 2009 model year, according to documents posted friday on the agency's website.  .

2009 dodge journey engine problems

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it will investigate Dodge Journeys after a woman who was trapped in an enflamed SUV died.

A complaint filed with the agency prompted the investigation into possible electrical problems in older Dodge Journeys, including inoperative door locks and windows that can prevent people from exiting in an emergency.

About 17,000 Journeys were recalled by Chrysler LLC in 2009 for a potential fire hazard caused by an unused electrical connector, according to NHTSA documents.

In January, The Wisconsin State Journal reported that 73-year-old Mary Frahm pulled over her 2009 Dodge Journey on Dec. 9, near Madison, Wisconsin right after she had dropped her son off at work. Her car's dashboard lights began flashing, the windshield wipers started up, the speedometer was "going crazy" and the vehicle was losing power – prompting her to pull over.

The car doors wouldn’t unlock and the windows wouldn't roll down, trapping her inside the vehicle with an engine fire that eventually spread, the Journal reported. Agency documents don't say where the fire happened.

City Street Guides by f.d. walker: A Street Photography Guide to Moscow, Russia

moscow-guide-cover

*A series of guides on shooting Street Photography in cities around the world. Find the best spots to shoot, things to capture, street walks, street tips, safety concerns, and more for cities around the world. I have personally researched, explored and shot Street Photography in every city that I create a guide for. So you can be ready to capture the streets as soon as you step outside with your camera!

At over 12 million people, Moscow is the largest city in Russia and second largest in Europe by population ( Istanbul is #1). An urban, cosmopolitan metropolis with more than enough glitz and glam to cater to the elite, but without losing its fair share of Soviet era roughness around the edges. It can be fast paced, brash, busy, and trendy like other big cities, but it has its blend of West meets Russia atmosphere and beauty that provides plenty of unique interest. The Red Square is as famous as it gets, but there’s so much more to this city, including the most beautiful subway system you’ve ever seen. It would take years to capture all of Moscow, but that means you have an endless amount of areas to discover.

2009 dodge journey engine problems

So here’s a Street Photography guide so you can be ready to capture all that Moscow has to offer before you even arrive!

  • Patriarch’s Pond
  • Old Arbat Street
  • Maroseyka Street
  • Tverskoy Boulevard

Top 5 Street Spots:

1. red square.

The Red Square is the most famous square in not just Russia, but all of Eastern Europe. The name actually doesn’t come from the color of the bricks or communism, but from the name in Russian, Krásnaya, once meaning “beautiful” before its meaning changed to “red.” This large plaza is what you see on the cover of guide books and magazines for Moscow, with St. Basil’s Cathedral being the center piece next to Lenin’s Mausoleum surrounded by the Kremlin Wall. Of course, the Red Square attracts hordes of tourist due to the main attractions, but all that activity around an interesting atmosphere does provide street photo opportunities. It’s also the central square connecting to the city’s major streets, providing a good starting point to explore outward.

2009 dodge journey engine problems

You’ll also find the popular pedestrian only Nikolskaya Street connecting the Red Square to Lubyanka Square. This line of expensive shops includes plenty of activity, while also leading you to another popular square. Filled with history rivaling any city, the Red Square and surrounding areas are the heart and soul of Russia.

2. Patriarch’s Ponds

Patriarch’s Ponds is one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Moscow. Despite the name being plural, there’s only one large pond, but it’s worth a visit with your camera. It’s a popular spot for locals and expats to come relax or take a stroll around the pond. You get an interesting mix of young and old too, from young love to “babushkas” feeding pigeons. It’s a very peaceful park atmosphere in one of the nicer areas within the city center, while bringing enough activity for street photography.

2009 dodge journey engine problems

The pond is shallow and in the winter becomes a popular spot for ice-skating too. The area is also well-known for the location in the famous Russian novel, The Master and Margarita.

3. Old Arbat (Stary Arbat)

Old Arbat is the most famous pedestrian street in Moscow, and dating back to the 15th century, also one of its oldest. Originally, it was an area of trade, but soon became the most prestigious residential area in Moscow. During the 18th century, Arbat started attracting the city’s scholars and artists, including Alexander Pushkin. Cafes lined the streets and impressive homes filled the neighborhood. Since then, New Arbat street was created as a highway in the area, while Old Arbat was paved for a 1km pedestrian only walkway.

2009 dodge journey engine problems

Due to the historic buildings, famous artists that lived here, and the bohemian atmosphere, Old Arbat has become a big attraction for tourists today. Now, there’s a mix of cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops, street performers, street merchants and other attractions for visitors, and some locals, to come enjoy. It can get really busy here and there’s usually something interesting going on so it’s a good street to come walk with your camera for guaranteed life.

4. Gorky Park

One of the most famous places in Moscow is Gorky Park. The official name is Maxim Gorky’s Central Park of Culture & Leisure, which gives you an idea of what goes on here. When built, it was the first of its kind in the Soviet Union. Divided into two parts, it stretches along Moscow River. One end contains fair rides, foods stands, tennis courts, a sports club, a lake for boat rides, and more. This end brings more active life due to its number of attractions, while the other end is more relaxed, where you’ll find gardens, trees, older buildings, and an outdoor amphitheater.

2009 dodge journey engine problems

Gorky Park attracts mostly locals so it’s a good spot to capture the non-tourist side of Moscow life. Muscovites come here to escape the city and unwind in a picturesque setting. The park remains alive outside of the warmer months too, especially when the lake turns into the city’s largest outdoor skating rink. I’d recommend taking the metro out here to spend at least half a day exploring the massive park’s life with your camera.

5. Maroseyka Street

Maroseyka Street is a popular area not too far from the Red Square. The long, winding street turns into Pokrovka and is lined with restaurants, cafes, bars and places to stay. It’s actually where I like to stay when I’m in Moscow due to its location and solid street photography opportunities itself. You have Kitay-gorod station near and if you keep walking southwest, you’ll get to the Red Square. But if you walk northwest, as it changes to Pokrovka, you can find a long street of activity for photography with its own interesting atmosphere.

2009 dodge journey engine problems

6. Tverskoy Boulevard

Tverskoy Boulevard is the oldest and longest boulevard in Moscow, beginning at the end of Nikitsky Boulevard, and finishing at Pushkin Square, a spot to come for activity itself. The boulevard is made up of two avenues, with pedestrian walkways in-between. You’ll find grass, shrubbery, trees, benches and more walking it’s almost kilometer length. Many people come here to enjoy some relaxation, walk their dog, or just to use it to walk wherever they’re going. Its center location also provides a nice place to walk with your camera near plenty of other spots you’ll want to check out anyway.

Sample Street Walk:

For a full day of Street Photography, covering some of the best spots, you can follow this sample street walk for Moscow:

  • Start your morning walking around the Red Square (1), while exploring the surrounding area, including Nikolskaya Street
  • Then walk northwest to Patriarch’s Ponds (2) and slowly walk the pond and surrounding area with your camera
  • Next, walk east to the Pushkin Monument and stroll down Tverskoy Boulevard (6)
  • Once Tverskoy Boulevard (6) ends, it will turn into Nikitsky Boulevard. Follow this down until you get to the start of Old Arbat Street (3), across from Arbatskaya station
  • After you’re done walking down Old Arbat Street (3) for more street photography, spend some time checking out Moscow’s beautiful metro stations
  • To finish off the day with more street photography, get off the metro near Red Square (1) again, Maroseyka Street (5) or wherever you’re staying for the night.

3 Things I’ll Remember about Shooting in Moscow:

1. museum metro.

The Moscow metro system was the first underground railway system in the Soviet Union and today includes 203 stations across 340km of routes. The elaborate system has some of the deepest stations in the world too, with escalators that seem to go on forever. None of this is what makes it so special, though. Many of its stations feel like stepping inside a museum, making it without a doubt the most interesting and beautiful metro system I’ve been in.

When built, Stalin wanted to make the metro stations “palaces for the people” with marble, chandeliers, and grand architecture. The best part is the variety of architecture and styles used, making many of the stations a completely different experience visually. You could easily spend a whole day traveling the stations and there are even tours available for people who wish to do just that. My advice, though, would be just to buy a ticket and hop on and off at different stations, while exploring different lines. The museum-like surrounding mixed with the crowds of characters can make for a great photography experience.

Since there are so many stations, here are some of my favorites to check out:

  • Mayakovskaya
  • Elektrozavodskaya
  • Komsomolskaya
  • Ploschad Revolyutsii
  • Dostoyevskaya

2. Moscow is Big

It’s no secret that Moscow is a big city, but it can feel even bigger with how spread out much of it is. This is especially true if you compare it to cities outside of Asia. If I compared it to cities in Europe, I’d probably say only Istanbul would warrant more time to really discover the depths of this city. Most only explore around the Red Square and surrounding area, but that is such a small part of the city. Although, that central area does give you plenty to see on its own.

2009 dodge journey engine problems

Fortunately, I had a good friend living in the city to show me around, but it opened up my eyes even more to how much there is to discover in Moscow. It’s a big city with a variety of atmosphere that can take you from “east” to “west” and trendy to rugged depending on where you go. I’d imagine you’d have to live here a while to really know the city.

3. Cosmopolitan Mix of East meets West

Modern skyscrapers mixed with amazing architecture, a world-class metro system with museum-like beauty, trendy fashion and chic clubs, Moscow is a rich mix of Russian culture and history in a more western cosmopolitan package. There is a push to keep the Russian culture, while also pushing forward with a modern metropolis the whole world will envy. This comes with an impressive skyline, that continues to grow, and endless modernities, but with soviet nostalgia and atmosphere mixed in for good measure.

2009 dodge journey engine problems

Mixed in with this grand western cosmopolitan atmosphere, is a strong national pride in Russia. This includes their famous leader, Vladimir Putin. Maybe no other place will you see a country’s leader more often. All over, from the pricey tourist shops to the underground walkway stalls, you’ll find goods with Putin’s likeness covering them. From t-shirts to magnets to Matryoshka dolls. There’s a strong national pride that can be seen around the city, which also extends to their leader. Moscow is many things. It’s East meets West, modernizations meets Soviet era, and a whole lot more.

What To Do For a Street Photography Break?:

Eat at a stolovaya.

Stolovayas are Russian cafeterias that became popular in the Soviet days. You grab a tray and walk down the line of freshly prepared local dishes, and select whatever you want from the chefs. They’re usually inexpensive and a much better value than restaurants, while giving you the opportunity to try from a wide selection of everyday Russian food. They’re also very tasty. I always include some borsch on my tray and go from there. The places themselves are all over Moscow and usually come with Soviet-era aesthetics to complete the experience.

Street Safety Score: 7

*As always, no place is completely safe! So when I talk about safety, I’m speaking in general comparison to other places. Always take precaution, be smart, observe your surroundings and trust your instincts anywhere you go!

Being the 2nd largest city in Europe with over 12 million people, you’re going to have your dangerous areas, but for the most part, it feels safe walking around. Russia is statistically higher in crime compared to most of Europe, but this generally doesn’t apply to tourists and visitors. Around the Red Square and surrounding city center, you should feel completely safe walking around. Pick pocketing can happen, but no more than other touristic places. I always explore Moscow freely without coming across too much to worry about. It’s a spread out city, though, so of course it matters where you are. Just use basic street smarts, know where you are and Moscow shouldn’t give you a problem.

People’s Reaction Score: 7

Moscow is fast paced, big city life, which usually means people aren’t too concerned with you, or your camera. I don’t find people notice or pay much attention to me when I’m out taking photos in Moscow. For the most part, people just go about their day. You shouldn’t get too many looks or concern. But it can depend on the area you are in. The more you stick out, the more you might get noticed with suspicions. I’ve never had any problems in Moscow, or Russia, but just be careful who you’re taking a photo of if you get out of the city center. Other than that, it’s about average for reactions.

Street Tips:

Learn the alphabet .

Much of Moscow, including the metro system, doesn’t use english. The Russian alphabet uses letters from the Cyrillic script, which if you aren’t familiar with it and don’t know the sounds, can be hard to decipher the words. This is most important for street names and metro stops when trying to get around. It can save confusion and make it easier getting around if you learn the basic alphabet. At the very least then, you can sound out the words to see which are similar in the english conversion, which can help matching them to maps. When out shooting street photography, getting around is as important as anything. So save yourself some time and frustration by learning the Russian Alphabet.

Use the metro

While Saint-Petersburg feels very walkable for a city its size, Moscow can feel very spread out, even for its bigger size. Outside of the Red Square area, you can have plenty of walking before getting anywhere very interesting, so you’ll need to take the metro a lot if you really want to explore the city. Maps are deceiving here too, it will always be further than it looks.

2009 dodge journey engine problems

Another reason it’s less walkable than Saint-Petersburg is its completely different set-up. Moscow’s streets are mostly contstructed in rings with narrow, winding streets in-between. This is common with medieval city cities that used to be confined by walls, but you usually don’t have it in a city this massive. Saint-Petersburg has a more grid-like pattern that also uses the canals to help you know your way around. When it comes to navigating on foot in Moscow, it can be more difficult, so bring a map and take the metro when needed. It’s why Moscow’s metro carries more passengers per day than the London and Paris subways combined.

Explore other areas if you have time

Moscow is really big. While most people stay around the Red Square within the Boulevard Ring, there’s so much more to the city. I covered some other spots outside of this circle, but if you really want to see the city, you’ll need time. If you do have time, some other areas I’d check out first are Zamoskvarechye, along some of the south and western Moscow.

For some more inspiration, you can look through the Street Photography of Moscow photographer Artem Zhitenev  and check out 33 of my photos taken in Moscow .

Conclusion:

Moscow’s name brings a certain mystique, but once you’re there it might bring a different atmosphere than you expect. It’s big and sprawling, but beautiful in many ways. It can feel like a European capital on a grand scale, but you can definitely find its Russian side in there.

2009 dodge journey engine problems

The urban sprawl of Moscow can be intimidating, but give it enough time and you’ll be rewarded with plenty to discover. All with the world’s best metro system to take you around.

I hope this guide can help you start to experience some of what Moscow contains. So grab your camera and capture all that Moscow has to offer for Street Photography!

2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD: A Trim Comparison

T he 2024 Silverado 2500HD is ready to tackle any job you need, whether it’s on the road or a worksite, improving upon the 2023 Silverado 2500HD. Along with choices in cabs, beds, and engines, you can choose a trim level that fits your needs. But should you go with the affordable WT or the top-tier High Country?

Choosing a Silverado 2500HD Trim

The 2024 Silverado 2500HD is offered in four different trim options with different-sized cabs and truckbeds available. Find the perfect truck for your needs and shop around for the best deals. Let’s take a look at the options available!

Cab and Engine Options

Chevrolet focuses on customization so your truck can handle a broad range of jobs. There are four options for the size and shape of your Silverado, two cab sizes paired with two box lengths. You can choose from a double cab with a standard or long box or a crew cab with a standard or long box. This will affect cost and performance, and not all cab options are available with all trims.

The Silverado 2500HD also comes with two main engine choices. The first is a 6.0-liter Variable Valve Timing V8 SFI engine that produces 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. The second is a Duramax 6.6-liter Turbo Diesel V8 engine, which, coupled with an Allison transmission, can put out 470 hp and an incredible 975 lb.-ft of torque. The Duramax engine may come with additional features for some trims. Additionally, all trims are available in two-wheel-drive, with the option to upgrade to four-wheel-drive.

When properly equipped with the standard rear axle, the 3500HD can tow up to 22,500 pounds.

The 2024 Silverado 2500HD WT is the least expensive option at $43,400. This is the price of the two-wheel-drive crew cab with standard box and 6L VT V8 engine. The model includes 17-inch wheels, a locking tailgate, heavy-duty suspension, front recovery hooks, and cargo tie-downs. You’ll also get vertical exterior trailering mirrors to assist you with your towing needs.

Because the Silverado is used in the toughest of conditions, it also comes with great warranties. It includes a bumper-to-bumper limited warranty of 3 years or 36,000 miles, as well as a corrosion warranty for the same duration. The corrosion warranty includes a warranty against rust-through for six years or 100,000 miles. The Silverado 2500HD also comes with a powertrain limited warranty for five years or 60,000 miles and roadside assistance with courtesy transportation for five years or 60,000 miles.

With the power and capabilities of this vehicle, you can forgive Chevy for not loading it down with extra features, This is definitely a base model. That said, it does include a two-speaker audio system with , power windows, single-zone climaste control, and a push-button ignition.

For regular cab models, there is also a standard 7-inch color infotainment touchscreen, two-speaker stereo, wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, and satellite radio.

On the safety front, the WT includes StabiliTrak, which is a stability control system with Proactive Roll Avoidance and traction control.  The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD WT also includes automatic high-beam headlights and a tire pressure monitor system. Other features included are driver assistance features like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection,  lane-departure warning, and a rear vision camera with Hitch Guidance.

It’s also worth noting that the vehicle’s rearview camera includes a hitch guide, making your hitch a cinch.

The Custom trim starts at $46,800. This trim is not available in the 3500HD, and is only available for double cab and crew cab models. A split-folding rear bench, cruise control, cabin carpeting and a rear air vent are standard with this unique trim.

This trim ups the truck’s off-road game with 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires and LED signature headlights. It also offers cosmetic changes like glossy black bumpers, tinted glass and unique body styling elements.

The LT starts at $47,400 for the two-wheel-drive crew cab with a standard box option. Since it has the same engine as the WT trim, the LT has all the same capabilities. That said, it does include more features than the trim below it. On the exterior, it’s equipped with chrome bumpers, 17-inch alloy wheels and EZ Lift with Lower Locking Tailgate. The tailgate is easy to lock, using the same key fob as the rest of the vehicle. You can also open and start your vehicle remotely.

The interior of the LT improves to include a 13.4-inch color touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. There is also available built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi connection, which may be necessary if you use your vehicle for work outside of an office setting. The LT also includes Chevrolet Connected Access with 10 years of standard connectivity. This allows the driver to perform select vehicle diagnostics and receive dealer maintenance notifications.

The LTZ starts at $56,600 for the two-wheel-drive crew cab with a standard box. There’s no regular cab option here. That price jump may seem like quite a bit, but it has several features that make your Silverado 2500HD safer and more enjoyable to drive. Externally, door handles, mirror caps, and body moldings are upgraded from body color to chrome.

The interior comes with a 110-volt AC power outlet, dual-zone automatic climate control, and heated driver and front passenger seating. One of the biggest upgrades is the addition of leather upholstery. For convenience, there is a remote vehicle starter system, plus an integrated trailer brake controller and trailering equipment package.

High Country

The High Country is the top-tier trim for the 2024 Silverado 2500HD. It starts at $71,000, which gets you a two-wheel-drive crew cab and a standard box. Chevy’s given the High Country plenty of added convenience and comfort.

The High Country is a significant upgrade from the LTZ with 20-inch wheels, safety features like a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, a powerlift tailgate, a Bose audio system, and a rear seat alert.

Also standard is a spray-in bedliner, moveable cargo tie-downs, and an HD surround-view camera.

The 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500HD is an upgrade in towing power but lighter on features compared to the 1500. That may be your best option if you don’t need this much towing power. If you want a truck that packs an even bigger punch, you may want to consider the Silverado 3500HD.

Moscow, like other international urban areas , is decentralizing, despite considerable barriers. The expansion will lead to even more decentralization, which is likely to lead to less time "stuck in traffic" and more comfortable lifestyles. Let's hope that Russia's urban development policies, along with its plans to restore population growth, will lead to higher household incomes and much improved economic performance.

Note 1: The 23 ward (ku) area of Tokyo is the geography of the former city of Tokyo, which was abolished in the 1940s. There is considerable confusion about the geography of Tokyo. For example, the 23 ward area is a part of the prefecture of Tokyo, which is also called the Tokyo Metropolis, which has led some analysts to think of it as the Tokyo metropolitan area (labor market area). In fact, the Tokyo metropolitan area, variously defined, includes, at a minimum the prefectures of Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba and Saitama with some municipalities in Gunma, Ibaraki and Tochigi. The metropolitan area contains nearly three times the population of the "Tokyo Metropolis."

Note 2: The expansion area (556 square miles or 1,440 square kilometers) has a current population of 250,000.

Note 3: Includes all residents in suburban districts with at least part of their population in the urban area.

Note 4: Urban area data not yet available.

Road in city area.

The roads and ways of the city areas are very clumsy and many accidents are happening due to the short road. But you need to maintain the driving properly otherwise you may face accident. So now the government decided to expand the road which may put the positive effect on automobile sector. I think it is a helpful service for the society people. If you have a BMW car and you have faced any problem then better to repair it at BMW Repair Spring, TX for the best service.

Transit & transportation

Transit and transportation services are quite impressive in most of the urban cities; therefore people were getting better benefits from suitable transportation service. Urban cities like Moscow, Washington, New York and Tokyo; we have found high margin of transportation system that helps to build a better communication network in these cities. I hope through the help of modern transportation system we are able to bring revolutionary change in automobile industries; in this above article we have also found the same concepts to develop transportation system. Moscow is bursting Noblesse at the seams. The core city covers more than 420 square miles (1,090 kilometers), and has a population of approximately 11.5 million people. With 27,300 residents per square mile (10,500 per square kilometer), Moscow is one percent more dense than the bleach anime watch city of New York, though Moscow covers 30 percent more land. The 23 ward area of Tokyo (see Note) is at least a third more dense, though Moscow's land area is at least half again as large as Tokyo. All three core areas rely

Russians seeing the light while Western elites are bickering?

What an extremely interesting analysis - well done, Wendell.

It is also extremely interesting that the Russian leadership is reasonably pragmatic about urban form, in contrast to the "planners" of the post-rational West.

An acquaintance recently sent me an article from "The New Yorker", re Moscow's traffic problems.

The article "abstract" is HERE (but access to the full article requires subscription)

http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2010/08/02/100802fa_fact_gessen

One classic quote worth taking from it, is: "People will endure all manner of humiliation to keep driving".

I do find it odd that the "New Yorker" article author says nothing at all about the rail transit system Moscow had, on which everyone was obliged to travel, under Communism. It can't surely have vaporised into thin air?

Moscow is a classic illustration of just how outmoded rails are, and how important "automobility" is, when the auto supplants rails so rapidly than even when everybody did travel on rails up to a certain date, and the road network dates to that era, when nobody was allowed to own a car; an article written just 2 decades later does not even mention the rail transit system, other than to criticise the mayor for "failing to invest in a transit system".......!!!!!!!!

This is also a give-away of "The New Yorker's" inability to shake off the modern PC ideology on rails vs cars.
