Tour de Pologne 2023: the route of the 80th edition revealed

The 80th edition of the UCI WorldTour Tour de Pologne was presented live on TVP Sport today, unveiling a brand new route full of great new features.

This year the Tour de Pologne celebrates three anniversaries: 95 years since its foundation, the 80th edition of the race and 30 years of the Lang Team. To mark the occasion, the organizers have designed an unprecedented route running through the west of Poland. The now traditional seven stages will be as follows: one time trial stage, two mountain stages, two stages for sprinters and two hilly stages where both classic riders and riders aiming for the general classification will be able to compete.

All the ingredients for a great spectacle that will set Poland’s roads ablaze from 29th July to 4th August.

Czesław Lang, Race Director and CEO of the Lang Team, says: “There will certainly be a lot of sporting emotions. We have prepared a beautiful, challenging route, which is completely different from last year’s, as we are moving the race from the east to the west of Poland. We will start in Poznań on 29th July and then there are the following stages: Leszno – Karpacz, Wałbrzych – Duszniki Zdrój, Strzelin – Opole, Pszczyna – Bielsko-Biała, an ITT in Katowice, Zabrze – Kraków. I know this route very well, we have been planning it carefully all year and I am convinced that it will be an arena of fantastic rivalry between riders from the best teams in the world. It is also a great opportunity to celebrate our 3 anniversaries. 95 years ago, riders started for the first time in the “Race Around Poland”, which was the first name of the Tour de Pologne. In 2023 we will start the 80th edition of the race, which has become the showcase of our country in the world! ”

Stage 1 POZNAŃ – POZNAŃ – 183.7 km

The jubilee edition of the Tour de Pologne will kick off in Poznań, where the race returns after 16 years. The start is set at St Mark’s Square, in the Poznañ International Fair headquarters. After covering more than 180 kilometres in the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship, the riders will finish the stage at the Automobil Klub in Poznañ, where they will race in a 4-kilometre lap. There will be six primes along the route for the points classification, the climbers’ classification and the most active rider ranking. Three LOTTO Intermediate Sprints will take place in Suchy Las, Murowana Goślina and Kostrzyn. In Suchy Las the riders will also compete for the only GPM PZU KOM (3rd cat.) of the stage. Two special sprints will be held: Special Sprint SOUDAL – 95 Years of the Tour de Pologne in Pobiedziska and the Special Sprint in Środa Wielkopolska, Środa District

Stage 2 LESZNO – KARPACZ – 202.9 km

The second stage is the only one with a distance of over 200 kilometers. The start is in Leszno in the Wielkopolskie Voivodship, which the riders will leave after a few kilometers into the race to fight for the only LOTTO Intermediate Sprint of this stage, set in Góra in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. After a relatively flat first half of the stage, a demanding climb will kick up, with two 2nd cat PZU KOMs at Przełęcz pod Średnicą and Sosnówka. The grand finale of the stage will take place in Karpacz and the winner will be the rider who first reaches the top of the final 11-kilometre Orlinek climb, known as the ‘Wailing Wall’. There are also two other special sprints along the route: the Special Sprint SOUDAL – 95 Years of the Tour de Pologne in Świerzawa and the Lake Hill Special Sprint.

Stage 3 WAŁBRZYCH – DUSZNIKI-ZDRÓJ, COS – 163.3 km

The third stage starts in Wałbrzych, the second largest town in Lower Silesia. It is a typical mountain stage with a total elevation gain of more than 3,000 metres and a distance of 163 kilometres, finishing in Duszniki-Zdrój. The stage will feature three 2nd category PZU KOMs in Walim, on the Jugowska Pass and in Zieleniec, as well as the Special Sprint SOUDAL – 95 Years of the Tour de Pologne – in Pieszyce. The spectacular finish will take place in the Biathlon Arena of the Central Sports Centre.

Stage 4 STRZELIN – OPOLE – 198.6 km

This 198 km stage will see the peloton return to slightly flatter terrain, giving the sprinters a chance to test themselves. The riders will start from the Lower Silesian town of Strzelin and head west to Sobótka before turning back to Opole, the capital of this voivodeship. The Tour de Pologne last visited Opole in 2020, when the second stage started here. The stage features one cat. 3rd cat. PZU KOM in Strzegomiany and three LOTTO Intermediate Sprints in Sobótka, Strzelin and Grodków.

Stage 5 PSZCZYNA – BIELSKO-BIAŁA – 198.8 km

The stage – almost 199 kilometres long – is a typical mountain stage, with an elevation gain of over 3,000 metres. The riders will start in Pszczyna and finish in Bielsko-Biała, which has hosted the Tour de Pologne in the past. Before the finish, however, the riders will have to tackle several tough climbs: a 2nd-category PZU KOM at Zameczek (Little Castle) and two 1st-category PZU KOMs at Ochodzita and Salmopol. The latter KOM is named after Joachim Halupczok, Poland’s 1988 Olympic medalist. There will also be three LOTTO Intermediate Sprints in Ustroń, Istebna and Wilkowice along the route of stage five.

The second last stage is a 16.6 kilometre individual time trial in Katowice. The route in Katowice traditionally winds through the streets of the city centre, featuring the transformation of the Silesian capital, including the Market Square with its characteristic palm trees and the Cultural Zone, where years ago the Katowice Mine operated. It has been replaced by the Silesian Museum, the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra and the International Congress Centre. The riders will also have a chance to race through the unique Nikiszowiec district and the Valley of the Three Ponds, which illustrate how green the city is. The finish line will be at the Katowice Spodek.

Stage 7 ZABRZE – KRAKÓW – 166.6 km

The peloton will cover almost 167 kilometres from Zabrze to Krakow, where the race traditionally ends. The finish line will be in Krakow’s Błonia after the riders have completed three laps of the circuit on the city’s streets. Before arriving in Kraków, there will be the LOTTO Intermediate Finish in Wilamowice, the cat-3 PZU KOMs in Witanowice and Kaszów, and the Special Sprint SOUDAL – 95 Years of the Tour de Pologne in Budzyń. Finally, the podium ceremony for the protagonists of the 80th Tour de Pologne will take place in Krakow’s Błonia.

Last year it was British rider Ethan Hayter, Ineos Grenadiers, who won the general classification ahead of Dutchman Thymen Arensman and Spaniard Pello Bilbao.

The wait to find out who will be wearing this year’s ORLEN jersey as leader of the general classification at the finish in Krakow has already begun, as the Tour de Pologne UCI World Tour confirms its position as the most important stage race in Central Europe.

Profiles & Route Tour de Pologne 2023

Profiles . From the 30th of July to the 4th of August the Tour de Pologne will be on the road. Right after the Tour de France and right before the World Championships, the Polish race marks an important transition week in a packed section of the season.

The seven-day race features, as every year, opportunities for several riders. Regarding the overall classification it features two hilly days early on where small summit finishes will make small differences, a possible raiding day on stage 5, but the time-trial on stage 6 should be long enough to decide the GC. Sprinter wise stages 1, 4 and 7 will most likely be certain for the fast men to battle for, attracting enough of them to Poland ahead of the World Championships.

PREVIEW | Tour de Pologne 2023 - Top climbers and sprinters gather ahead of World Championships and Vuelta a Espana

Profiles & Route Tour de Pologne 2023

The biggest Polish race of the year begins with a pure day for the sprinters. Virtually no climbing in a route that starts and finishes in Poznan, it has 183.7 kilometers on the menu, quite a few intermediate sprints but eventually a bunch sprint seems to be inevitable.

The stage will end at the Tor Poznan, a racing circuit in the outskirts of the city. The riders enter the cicuit and cross the finish line for the first time with 4.5 kilometers to go. The next time coincides with the end of the stage.

In racing circuits as you know, the corners are not technical. It's a circuit made for speeds that the riders won't reach, so despite the several corner in the final kilometers, it's not a technical one. Nevertheless, there will be a slight right-hander with 300 meters to go which could prove decisive in the run-up to the sprint.

Profiles & Route Tour de Pologne 2023

Stage 2 in Pologne is a day of two very different halves. The 203 kilometers are mostly flat for the first two third of the day, but the race reaches it's southern border and the hilly terrain comes about. It may be the biggest chance to create differences ahead of the time-trial.

There are two categorized climbs in the lead up to the final ascent, they are 3.3 kilometers at 5.7% and 4.8 kilometers at 5.8% respectively. The latter one ends with 20 kilometers to go, all will be a warm-up to the final ascent to Karpacz.

The finish line is in the outskirts of town. It is an inconsistent one, 6.9Km at 5.2%, however there is a very different story when looking at the climb in detail. Inside town the riders find a 1.6Km section at 9.5% and the gradients go up to 15%, nasty ramps which can see explosive attacks and differences. There are a few flat bits, however it will be a difficult run to the line, one where both climbers and puncheurs can ride for the win.

PREVIEW | Tour de Pologne 2023 stage 2 - First summit finish to open up GC battle

Profiles & Route Tour de Pologne 2023

The third stage of the race will be a very difficult one. A classic Polish day of racing, and by that of course I am referring to the start and finishing locations which will be the biggest challenge for commentators on the day to pronounce! However riders find a hard day, 300 meters of climbing, a lot focused in the first kilometers. A punchy start and two categorized climbs can see a strong breakaway going up the road, however simultaneously it is very early in the race to see meaningful groups having the freedom to be formed.

The riders don't find much flat terrain however. Even after the two classified ascents (3.3Km at 7.2%; 7.7Km at 5.1%) there are two more ascents where in the peloton some will struggle. Then there will be some rest, but a climb will come closer to the finish where damage will be done. It's 4.5 kilometers long at 6%, again not a brutal one but it will thin down the field, it summits only with 16 kilometers to go - with the KOM sprint a bit later on, and a fast descent into the finishing climb.

With 2 kilometers to go the riders take two tricky corners, there will be a very very fast run-up to that spot, and then it begins to drag uphill. The attacks won't surge there however, but instead in the final 900 meters which average almost 9%. It's a pure anaerobic effort, the toughest gradients of 15% are from 700 to 400 meters to go, the differences can be made there, however one way or another this will suffocate the riders, and the run-up to the line will be a struggle to survive with whichever legs the riders have left.

PREVIEW | Tour de Pologne 2023 stage 3 - 15% climb to decide important GC day

Profiles & Route Tour de Pologne 2023

A pan-flat day on the fourth day of racing in Poland. There are 850 meters of ascending throughout the day with only a tiny hilltop early in the day to attribute KOM points. Most of the day however is simple in the eastern European plains.

The finale into Opole will be different from the past one, this one in an urban environment - also different from the final day. It will be fast, it will be trecherous. There will be a few smooth turns just before the 1 kilometer to go banner, and a sharp right corner with 500 meters to go. The finishing straight is perfectly straight and flat, ideal for the pure fast men.

PREVIEW | Tour de Pologne 2023 stage 4 - Merlier, Kooij, Gaviria and Bennett battle for meaningful sprint win

Profiles & Route Tour de Pologne 2023

Another 3000 meters of climbing on the fifth day of racing at the Tour de Pologne. The first 60 kilometers are mostly flat, but the stage into the traditional finale into Bielsko-Biala will have a very difficult middle part where a lot can happen. Whether it will or not depend on how the riders decide to play out, in the day before the time-trial and a circuit finish it can be argued that it is not the ideal set of conditions to be a GC day.

Five climbs with descents and virtually no flat roads inbetween. 3.8Km at 6.4%, 7Km at 4.3%, 2Km at 11.4%, 3.9Km at 5.7% and 6Km at 6.3%. They will summit with 125, 110, 92, 78 and 58 kilometers to go. Are they hard enough to create differences? Yes absolutely, specially one which averages 11% and team support matters little. It is terrain where raids and attacks can take place.

If it does, it will be a difficult stage finale with the GC likely to see more attacks on the final circuit. If not, a likely sprint will take place - with the possibility of a late attack succeeding. In Bielsko-Biala the riders will race through the final circuit four times, it ends with a 2.3-kilometer climb at 4%. The circuit is fairly small which lifts the question of what will happen if the race explodes early on and riders are lapped in the city.

PREVIEW | Tour de Pologne 2023 stage 5 - Bielsko-Biala circuit the final opportunities for climbers and puncheurs to explode GC

Profiles & Route Tour de Pologne 2023

The most likely decisive stage in this year's race could be the time-trial. Katowice hosts a different type of stage this year, a 16.8-kilometer challenge against the clock but one that promises differences and also an opportunity for the specialists- specially as it comes with one week to the time-trial World Championships.

The route is quite different than what you'd expect from a time-trial. It is mostly flat however technical. Early in the route there are good sections to put down the power, but then the last two third include quite a few sections with breaking and accelerations involved. Quite a few, definitely not a constant effort, it can mix things up on the day.

PREVIEW | Tour de Pologne 2023 stage 6 - Final time-trial to decide overall classification, battle between Mohoric, Almeida and Kwiatkowski

Profiles & Route Tour de Pologne 2023

The final day of racing, the Tour de Pologne reaches Krakow for the traditional finale. It's a day for the sprinters, nothing too complicated or terrain that will split the field up. A pure sprint stage in the making with teams saving their bullets for the final circuit.

Just outside the city center, the roads will be wide and not technical. Around a park, the riders will have a fast run-up to the finish, the final corner with 1.6 kilometers to go, and the final 800 meters completely straightforward.

PREVIEW | Tour de Pologne 2023 stage 7 - Merlier main favourite for final sprint as Mohoric and Almeida fight for GC win

Tour de Pologne: Mohoric saves lead as Cattaneo wins stage 6 time trial

Slovenian and Almeida neck and neck ahead of final stage

Matej Mohorič (Bahrain Victorious) unexpectedly clung onto the lead in the Tour de Pologne on Thursday but is now tied on time with João Almeida (UAE Team Emirates) after the stage 6 time trial through the streets of Katowice, won by Mattia Cattaneo (Soudal-QuickStep).

Cattaneo’s victory in the 16.6km time trial, his first since a stage of the 2021 Tour of Luxemburg, saw the Italian win by 13 seconds over Almeida, with Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers) in third, 14 seconds adrift.

With one flat stage remaining, the overall now is poised on a knife edge as Mohorič continues to lead the race.

However, with Almeida just hundredths of seconds behind and Michal Kwiatkowski (Ineos Grenadiers) in third place at 14 seconds, the GC battle could now come down to the fight for time bonuses on the last stage into Krakow.

“Today I had really good legs and held back in the first part,” said Mohorič, who finished 11th on the stage and limited his losses to 12 seconds on Almeida. “But then when I heard I was just 18 seconds back on Kwiato’ I thought ‘Wow!’ and I just gave it my best from there.

“I knew the second part was harder so I made sure I had enough energy for that and it was enough to hold on all the way to the finish and keep the leader’s jersey. I’m very happy.”

Cattaneo, for his part, was keen to savour his first victory at this level, and he recalled his teammate Fabio Jakobsen’s life-threatening crash in Katowice in 2020.

“This is my first WorldTour win, so it’s something very special. I’ve done a lot of work on my time trialling and normally I’d get fifth, sixth or seventh, so to get a victory like this is something great,” Cattaneo said.

“Here in this city, there’s also something special because I was also here in exactly the same finish when Fabio crashed, so this was also something that pushed me today. I wanted to do something special.”

How it unfolded

Switzerland’s former national TT champion Joel Suter (Tudor) set the first benchmark time of 20:06 on the short course in Katowice consisting largely of long, mostly broad straightaways, gentle rises and descents, and only a handful of technical, sometimes cobbled sections.

Under leaden skies which thankfully did not give way to actual rainfall, Irish TT champ Ryan Mullen (Bora-Hansgrohe) then took the provisional best time under 20 minutes for the first time, clocking 19:55 and averaging a sizzling 50.008 kmh.

Michael Hepburn (Jayco-AIUIa) then punched a sizeable 12-second hole through Mullen’s time, though, and in turn the Australian was notably upstaged by young New Zealander Finn Fisher-Black (UAE Team Emirates), who shifted the bar up several notches, to 19:26. But that was followd by a notable effort from Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers), already 1.7 seconds faster than Fisher-Black at the intermediate checkpoint, and who held his advantage to cross the line two seconds faster.

Tim Wellens (UAE Team Emirates) gave Thomas a good run for his money, only finishing two seconds slower, but it was Cattaneo who actually outshone the Welshman, first by four seconds at the intermediate checkpoint and then sweeping through the final chicane at speed to claim the top spot by a whopping 14 seconds.

Michal Kwiatkowski’s time, two seconds slower than Cattaneo at the 8km checkpoint, was a reminder that the Ineos Grenadiers rider is not the Polish champion in this discipline by chance. In contrast, Almeida's time, six seconds slower than the Italian, suggested that the Portuguese rider might not be on a stunning day. As for Mohorič, after losing 18 seconds to Cattaneo at the first split and 12 to Almeida, the Slovenian was clutching onto his lead by his fingertips.

But rather than Almeida broadening the gap in the second half, Mohorič managed to limit the damage. Digging deep on the series of small rises and descents that followed through the streets of Katowice, the Slovenian sped into the finishing straight in the shadow of the Spodek stadium with his time loss on Almeida maintained at 12 seconds. As a result, his overall advantage was thus reduced to a few hundredths of a second, but Mohorič still remained in yellow for a fifth straight day.

This dramatic turn of events, with Mohorič just managing to fend off a TT expert like Almeida overall, means that the battle between the top two on GC will now be fought out on what is usually a largely ceremonial final flat stage in to Krakow. Pologne's GC has often been decided by seconds in the past, but this could prove to be the tightest GC battle since central Europe's top cycling event joined the WorldTour in 2007.

By Larisha Paul

Larisha Paul

Later this year, Glass Animals will bring their forthcoming studio album I Love You So F***ing Much on an international tour fittingly titled Glass Animals: Tour of Earth.

The record, which features the newly released single “Creatures in Heaven,” will arrive on July 19, while the tour is scheduled to kick off just under a month later. The band will be joined on the road by Kevin Abstract, Eyedress, Blondshell, and The Big Moon on select dates.

Tour of Earth begins on Aug. 7 in Charlotte, North Carolina, and will close out its North American run on Sept. 22 in Austin, Texas. Glass Animals will make stops at New York’s Madison Square Garden and Inglewood’s Kia Forum, in addition to performances in Philadelphia, Toronto, Cincinnati, Nashville, Phoenix, Raleigh, and more. The tour also includes two back-to-back shows at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado.

General sale for North America and Europe will begin on Thursday, April 11 at 10 a.m. local time via the official Glass Animals website. Presales will begin on Tuesday, April 9.

RONNIE O'SULLIVAN is taking on Mark Williams in the Tour Championship final in Manchester RIGHT NOW!

O'Sullivan charged into the last two after a 10-7 triumph over Gary Wilson in his last-four clash.

While Williams held off a spirited Mark Allen fightback to win 10-5 and set up the O'Sullivan clash today.

O'Sullivan 5-6 Williams

Williams has stole another frame.

Rocket run up a score of 42, but the Welshman got to 60, before missing the pink.

Ronnie needed a snooker, and tried to force the issue until Williams finally sunk the pink.

Williams is playing with such poise and calmness out there.

O'Sullivan 5-5 Williams

This is superb from Williams.

He's shown determination and amazing character to fight back and level the scores up.

We're in for an epic night, clearly.

A break of 104 - with Ronnie failing to pot a ball - seals the 10th frame.

O'Sullivan 5-4 Williams

Williams stops O'Sullivan's run after the interval to go within one.

A brilliant shot to the middle pocket on a red that appeared to be blocked by the pink was dealt with beautifully with a bit of swerve.

It was a tight frame, but the Welshman got over the line and is back in it.

Williams' plan of attack

I'm just going to enjoy it. "How many more times is this going to happen? "I couldn't pick a better player to play in a final. I'm going to attack and try my best. "I know I haven't played Ronnie in a final for a long time but that's because he keeps beating me before the final!" Mark Williams ITV Sport

Ronnie's mental health battle

Ronnie O'Sullivan has been candid about his mental health battle, revealing he has seen a psychiatrist during the Tour Championship.

He told ITV: "I've just got to commit to it [speaking to a psychiatrist] now for a good year to try to get myself out of this sort of hole I've got myself in mentally with the obsession of the game, tinkering.

"I know I'm never going to stop tinkering, but I have to somehow get my head strong enough to be able to deal with it and not go too deep into that horrible murky world that it is.

"Every sportsman - maybe golfers, tennis players, snooker players - I suppose we all do it, but I went so deep into that it's like detoxing myself from it.

"It kind of felt like I've had the yips in a way - mentally, physically - it feels like you get scared to even want to go and play.

"That's not a nice place to be, so I've got nothing left to do other than to try to get myself mentally out of it and hopefully my game will start to flow again, maybe."

Pre-match meal

Mark Williams showed his fans he was just like Luke Littler by tucking into a kebab before his match-up with Ronnie O'Sullivan.

The family meal clearly went down well.

tour a polonia 2023

The respect between these two is there to see.

Before proceedings, O'Sullivan and Williams shared a fist bump.

And it's a close encounter in the final. Who will prevail when the evening sessions resumes at around 7pm.

Frame-by-frame

tour a polonia 2023

Rocket by name...

Incredibly, Rocket Ronnie won the last four frames in astonishing amount of time.

It took the legend just 37 minutes.

That included breaks of 102, 127, and 121,

He's not wasting any time.

Tale of the first session

Here's how the first eight frame's of today's final panned out.

Frame 1 - Williams , 73-29 (66) Frame 2 - O'Sullivan , 107-10 Frame 3 - Williams, 91-6 (91) Frame 4 - Williams , 137-0 (66,67) Frame 5 - O'Sullivan, 102-0 (102) Frame 6 - O'Sullivan, 127-0 (127) Frame 7 - O'Sullivan, 78-1 (59) Frame 8 - O'Sullivan, 121-1 (121)

Tale of two Ronnies

Ronnie O'Sullivan was completely different in the first four frames of today's action than he was in the subsequent four.

The Rocket's highest break prior to the interval was just 40 while he made breaks of 102, 127, 59 & 121 to lead the match 5-3 at the end of session one.

tour a polonia 2023

More to come

That's the end of the first session today, but not the end of the action.

With the scores at 5-3 to O'Sullivan both potters will return this evening to complete the match.

It's anticipated they will take to the table at 7pm to decide who takes home the prize money and the trophy.

O’Sullivan 5-3 Williams - End of session one

The Rocket was 3-1 down and he has turned it around spectacularly to now lead 5-3.

Williams has only potted two balls in the last four frames and will want to rest before the second session.

It's been a fascinating watch, but O'Sullivan is the man in charge after some of his usual magic.

A break of 121 sinks Williams and knocks the Welshman's confident before this evening.

Millimetres away!

Mark Williams has missed the black by millimetres and left the table open for O'Sullivan to take advantage.

Frustrating stuff for the Welshman.

tour a polonia 2023

Last frame of session one

We're heading into the final frame of this first session before we return to finish the match this evening.

O'Sullivan's sensational run means he will head into tonight guaranteed to be level at the very least.

O’Sullivan 4-3 Williams

A break of 59 tops off a third consecutive frame win for O'Sullivan.

It's grim reading for Mark Williams who has potted just ONE ball since the break.

It's slipping away from the Welshman who looked like he was cruising in the opening frames.

O’Sullivan 3-3 Williams

Just 15 minutes after returning from the break and Ronnie O'Sullivan has wiped away all of Mark Williams' hard work.

The Rocket pulled off a spectacular break of 127 to breeze to a second consecutive frame and level the scores.

He's in his stride now.

O'Sullivan omen

Manchester United host Liverpool in just under an hour on the same day as this final between Mark Williams and Ronnie O'Sullivan.

Incredibly this is the snooker duo's first meeting in a ranking final since 2000.

And perhaps even more curiously on that day, Man Utd also hosted Liverpool.

If any Red Devils fans reading believe in omens, they may want to look away now.

That's because on that occasion, on December 17, 2000, Liverpool beat United 1-0.

Meanwhile, around 6,000 miles away in Shenzhen, O'Sullivan beat Williams to lift the 2000 China Open.

tour a polonia 2023

Eerie omen for Man Utd that coincides with O'Sullivan v Williams snooker final

O’sullivan 2-3 williams.

What a shot! Ronnie announces himself in this final with some creative thinking.

A bounce shot off the cushion to put up 102 unanswered points and win the frame without a sniff for Williams.

tour a polonia 2023

Williams relaxed

Mark Williams looks relaxed in the practice room after an impressive first four frames saw him storm into a 3-1 lead.

tour a polonia 2023

O’Sullivan 1-3 Williams

Williams is in command. O'Sullivan had a chance to pull of a miracle, but there were no shots on.

Williams wins frame four with a dominant score of over 120.

A small break now before the players return for the next four frames.

O’Sullivan 1-2 Williams

Williams' aggressive approach doesn't seem to be working quite as well in the fourth frame, but he's still taking a strong lead.

O'Sullivan failed to take advantage of a few missed shots and now Williams has racked up 70 unanswered points.

If he gets a few shots at it when Williams will be able to dominate with this attacking style.

O'Sullivan steps up with 75 points left on the table...

Williams said he was going to "attack" before the match and that's exactly what he's doing.

He's playing with confidence and he's playing aggressive.

It's paying off too as he wins the third frame of the afternoon and puts himself back ahead of O'Sullivan.

If Williams is nervous about playing snooker's most decorated player - you wouldn't know it.

91 points for Williams to win the frame.

O’Sullivan 1-1 Williams

Just like that Ronnie is back level.

These two are putting on a show in Manchester and it's a fascinating match for all involved.

O'Sullivan ends the frame with a comfortably breaching the 100 point mark.

The frame comes to an end after he pots the white with two balls on the table.

O'Sullivan 0-1 Williams

A really tight frame until Williams tries to play aggressive and go for a difficult red.

A narrow miss sets O'Sullivan up and allows the Rocket to do what he does best - get points on the board.

The Midlands potter is now leading the table 53-5. Williams needs a special visit.

2024 Masters odds, picks, golf predictions: Tiger Woods projection from model that nailed last 2 winners

Tiger woods, an 82-time pga tour champion, is expected to be part of the 2024 masters field at augusta national golf club.

tiger-woods-2020-farmers.png

Five-time Masters winner Tiger Woods will turn his attention to the 2024 Masters at Augusta National Golf Club, which gets underway on Thursday, April 11. He's expected to compete against a loaded 2024 Masters field that includes Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy. Woods is a massive 160-1 longshot in the latest 2024 Masters odds, while Scheffler is going off as the 5-1 favorite on the PGA odds board.

Rahm, the defending champion, is 13-1 to repeat. Rahm has finished ninth or better in five of his last six starts at Augusta National, so he could be a popular selection for 2024 Masters predictions. Which golfers from the Masters 2024 field should you target with your 2024 Masters betting strategy? Before locking in your 2024 Masters picks or Tiger Woods props, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine .

SportsLine's proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, the model is up nearly $9,500 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

McClure's model predicted Scottie Scheffler would finish on top of the leaderboard at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship this season. McClure also included Hideki Matsuyama in his best bets to win the 2024 Genesis Invitational. That bet hit at +9000, and for the entire tournament, McClure's best bets returned nearly $1,000.

The model also predicted Jon Rahm would be victorious at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm's second career major victory heading into the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the second straight Masters win for the model, which also nailed Scheffler winning in 2022.

In addition, McClure's best bets included Nick Taylor (70-1) winning the 2023 RBC Canadian Open, Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson, and Rickie Fowler (14-1) finishing on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic.

This same model has also nailed a whopping 10 majors entering the weekend. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now that the Masters 2024 field is set, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard.

Top 2024 Masters predictions

One major surprise the model is calling for at the 2024 Masters: Xander Schauffele, a 24-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. Schauffele had back-to-back top-five showings at the Players Championship and Valspar Championship and also finished fourth at the Genesis Invitational in February. The 30-year-old is fourth in the FedEx Cup standings after finishing second in last year's leaderboard.

Schauffele is one of the top golfers in the sport still chasing his first major title. He nearly chased down Tiger Woods on the final day of the 2019 Masters with a 4-under-par on Sunday, but Woods held on for the one-stroke victory over Schauffele, Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka. Schauffele finished 10th at Augusta National Golf Club last season.

The model has also examined where Tiger Woods finishes. Woods will enter the first major of the year a bit rusty, but he'll be confident he can make noise. That's because Woods has secured 82 wins on the PGA Tour, tied with Sam Snead for the most all-time. He also did the unthinkable and finished on top of the leaderboard at the Masters in 2019, his first major championship victory since 2008.

Woods' familiarity with Augusta National will play a factor in how he performs in just his second start of the 2024 season. Woods is a longshot to win the Masters 2024, according to oddsmakers, but his success at major championships and extensive knowledge of the course could be major X-factors. The model just locked in its Tiger Woods Masters picks here .

How to make 2024 Masters picks

The model is also targeting six golfers with Masters odds of 20-1 or longer to make a strong run at the title. Anyone who backs these longshots could hit it big. You can only see the model's PGA picks here .

Who will win the 2024 Masters, which longshots will stun the golfing world, and where will Tiger Woods finish? Check out the Masters 2024 odds below, then visit SportsLine to see the projected Masters leaderboard, all from the model that's nailed 10 golf majors, including the last two Masters winners .
