Customer Reviews
A phenomenal experience as always from Eating Europe. Do NOT miss this tour. It'll be the best thing you do on holiday. Lisa our guide was absolutely phenomenal!! She made our evening.
My only wish was we made this reservation on our first night in Florence instead of our last night. Each stop and owner made us feel like a welcome local. Lisa’s personal investment in the community peeled back the curtain for us where we felt a genuine welcome from an old friend we just met. That combination left an indelible mark on our memorable trip. Thank you for doing all the hard work to make us feel at home and welcome. We will forever love Florence.
This was our second eating tour in Florence & our 4th tour in Italy (2 in Rome) & Francisco did not disappoint… he was friendly & knew the neighborhood well… we were a small group of 7 which was perfect & we walked away with new friends, having sampled great local foods & great wine & drinks. I highly recommend Eating Europe food tours to enhance your European experience.
What a great introduction to Florence with this wine/food tour. Elie (Elisa) was a great guide with many stories, taking us to to quaint little spots and making sure we all have plenty of wine during our tour. Our group was filled with great people which made the tour that much more fun!
and cheese shop, a full on restaurant, all the way to a gelateria. The walking wasnt too much either. Everything we had was delicious and authentic and we were given great detail what seasons the food was, any interesting history, etc. Antoneela was passionate about the places we stopped and the food we ate. She even provided ideas for other things to try in Florence, and we are looking forward to those suggestions.
Great food and wine tour with Elly as our tour guide. She was very knowledgeable about the history and lore of local Florentine cuisine and took us to multiple local spots including a cheese shop, a wine window, a Medieval wine cellar, many more and ended the tour with some authentic Gelato for everyone. Her sense of humor and energy was simply incredible!
Francesco was an amazing tour guide and very knowledgeable of the local cuisine in Florence. Highlights were the biscotti, balsamic vinegar and cheese tasting. The indoor marketplace was a hit with the adults and kids on our tour.
Our first food and drink tour and will not be our last. A great opportunity to experience different locations and enjoy local cuisine. Our guide Lisa was fantastic. We travelled with our adult sons and they too wbjoyed the experience. So glad that we added this experience our trip.
We have done many tours in Italy and this was by far the most fun we have ever had. The truffle hunting was authentic, the wine tasting and cooking class was delicious and the farm was something out of Tuscan storybook. Our hosts Camilla and Fabrizio are genuinely warm and welcoming. We didn’t want to leave. This is going to be a treasured memory we take home from Italy. Don’t miss it!
We had a wonderful time . It was informative as well as fun. The wine and food were delicious and it was extremely well organized. Francesco Weber was our guide today . He was entertaining as well as considerate and knowledgeable .We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon and highly recommend it! Thank you
Ahhhhmazing tour! Francesco gave us a personal introduction to each store/restaurant/street food vendor/ and bakery owner. He did a superb job of explaining the history and understanding of why the people of Florence eat what they eat! He kept the tour feeling very quaint and everything was local and had a neighborhood “vibe”. We truly loved every bit of this tour and especially his charming upbeat personality. What a treat to spend a morning experiencing these great finds in Florence up close and personal!! PS - come hungry ready to try new things, you won’t be disappointed!!
Fantastic food tour of ‘the other side of Florence’ away from the main tourist area and a joy to meet so many lovely locals. Elisa P was our guide and we were lucky enough to have her to ourselves! We got to meet amazing locals, learn so much from our guide, taste different and delicious food and wine and have some real fun. Elisa was delightful and we highly recommend doing this tour if you are in Florence. You won’t regret it.
We have been lucky to do tours with Eating Europe in Amsterdam (Jordaan), London (East End) & Rome (Testachio x 2) and it’s a company we know we can book with confidence wherever we travel. We’re from the UK and still learned plenty on our home turf! Perhaps Berlin next?
Our food tour with Eli was terrific! Very relaxed, fabulous food and wine shops in the Oltrarno. Eli was a great hostess with a good sense of humor and spoke excellent English. Enjoy!
Amazing food tour around the local market, street food and Chianti wine! Thanks Francesco for all the info you gave us and to answer all the curiosities we had ( even about history!). This tour is a must!

Tour description
Dine like a florentine on this authentic food and wine experience..
Our Florence evening food tour provides a full introduction to Tuscan cuisine and wine with a local foodie as your guide. You’ll try wine, small plates, classic dishes, and of course gelato—all sprinkled with fascinating stories and a delightful city stroll.
From starters to gelato, enjoy a full Tuscan meal.
Your evening Florence food and wine tour starts in an easy-to-reach piazza in the Oltrarno neighborhood, a step or two off the well-trod tourist path. Just nearby is our first stop, where you’ll try pecorino toscano cheese, a selection of bruschette, and focaccia, all paired with a glass of Chianti Classico. Your guide will talk you through each bite, explaining how and why some of Italy’s key ingredients differ so much from one end of the boot to the other.
From there, we’ll take a stroll through picturesque Oltrarno, stopping at one of the famous Florentine wine windows for a glass of red or white.
Next up, it’s every Italian’s favorite time of day: aperitivo hour. Visit a local enoteca (wine bar) for a selection of regional charcuterie and another glass of wine.
After that, you’ll stop into one of our favorite trattorias in Florence for an authentic sit-down dinner starring the crown jewel of Tuscan cuisine: bistecca alla fiorentina, or Florentine steak!
Last but certainly not least, you’ll end your meal as the locals do: with a gelato, which was invented right here in Florence.
Dine with a local foodie and small group of 12 or fewer for an unforgettable evening out.
Throughout your Florence evening food tour, you’ll be accompanied by a foodie and storyteller as your guide. They’ll teach you about regional ingredients, seasonality, and why there’s no such thing as “Italian” food. Plus, with a small group, your experience will be relaxed and casual—like an evening out with friends you haven’t met yet.

Food Tours in Florence (Best Pasta, Pizza, Wine)
- June 1, 2023
A complete guide to the best food tours in Florence, Italy (+ street food, pizza and pasta making classes, truffle hunting and Chianti day trips).
Florence is not only the birthplace of the Renaissance and a beautiful city full of history and art. It’s a city with culinary traditions that date back to medieval times. A city of great wine, juicy grilled meats, delicious truffle pasta and olive oil!
With so many tempting delicacies, you’ll never leave Florence hungry. In fact, you’ll probably need to have a second breakfast or lunch (like I did), because there are so many foods to try!
Florence is the capital city of Tuscany, a region famous for its red wine, Chianti. In addition, you’ll find plenty of tasty regional foods like Pecorino cheese, olive oil and cantucci (almond cookies). Of course, the picture is not complete without the famous Bistecca alla Fiorentina (steak), panino lampredotto (sandwich with cow’s stomach) and Papardelle al Cinghiale (pasta with wild boar ragu).
As a huge foodie and wine lover, taking a food tour is a must for me, especially if I’m visiting Italy. I won’t lie if I say that food is the main reason behind my trips to the country of La Dolce Vita!

The best part is that besides the regular pizza and pasta, you’ll have the possibility to try local foods that you probably wouldn’t order by yourself. Yes, I’m talking about crostini neri (bread slices with chicken liver patè) and panino lampredotto (sandwich with cow’s stomach). They don’t sound so appealing, but wait till you try them!
My advice is to take a Florence food tour in the first days of your trip to Tuscany. In this way, you’ll find out what foods are to your liking, so you can enjoy them again during the rest of your vacation.
