Complete RV Review Part 2: Our Leisure Travel Vans Wonder on the Ford Transit

There's so much to see on our new leisure travel vans wonder rv on the 2020 ford transit cutaway chassis that we had to make a part 2, this one concentrating on the redesigned cab, safety features and some of the options we've installed. .

  • 1.1 The Leisure Travel Vans Wonder is on the Ford Transit Cutaway Chassis
  • 1.2 The Ford Transit Cutaway Chassis has been upgraded and redesigned and we've added some of our own extras!
  • 2.1 Curious about the gear, gadgets, accessories, and RV products Mike & Jennifer use and recommend?

The Leisure Travel Vans Wonder model that we just bought (June 24, 2021) is the Rear Twin Bed Model. Over the past month, we've spent a lot of time getting familiar with it and customizing it with some of the accessories we like. We're far from done but thought you might like this second part of our review, concentrating mostly on the redesigned 2020 Ford Transit cab, it's safety features, and what extras we've installed.

(Keep reading… we'll share links to the extras we installed further down in this article)

For this article and our video review of the Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB on the Ford Transit chassis I also asked Jennifer to get behind the wheel and offer her thoughts. She talks at length about them in the video.

First, in case you missed part one:

  • CLICK HERE to see Part One of our Review of the Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB on the Ford Transit chassis.
  • CLICK HERE to see Part One of our YouTube video review of the Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB on the Ford Transit chassis.

Part one consisted of our review and reveal of the exterior and interior features of the Wonder.

Our Part 2 video review picks where that one left off. And this article will amplify on what we show in Part 2 with links and more info on the initial accessories we've added, as well as Jennifer's thoughts.

Here's the Part 2 video of our review of the Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB on the Ford Transit chassis.

The Leisure Travel Vans Wonder is on the Ford Transit Cutaway Chassis

Let's talk for a minute about the Ford Transit. You no doubt have seen many of the Transit vans on the street. They have become one of the best selling utility vans in North America. RV manufacturers are also discovering them, buying the chassis, and then upfitting them with galleys, bathrooms, and sleeping quarters.

The ones that use the traditional Transit van bodies are categorized as Class B RVs. The RV maker gets an empty panel van and customizes it, constrained by the existing panel walls of the van.

photo of swivel seats on our new Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RV on the 2020 Ford Transit cutaway chassis

The Ford Transit chassis we have is what is known as a cutaway chassis . It consists of the Ford Transit engine and cab and the skeleton rails and wheels that make up the rest of the vehicle. There are no walls or panels built on. It's shipped to the RV manufacturers as a cutaway chassis and they then build the motorhome area as a separate box that they then securely attach to the cutaway chassis.

RVs built on the cutaway chassis are officially designated by the industry as Class C RVs, though you may hear some models like the Leisure Travel Vans Wonder referred to as a Class B Plus because they are a bit sleeker looking and don't have the traditional cabover bed section that sits atop the cab of the motorhome on the conventional Class C.

Okay. Now, what's to like about the Ford Transit cutaway chassis that our new Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB is built on?

The Ford Transit Cutaway Chassis has been upgraded and redesigned and we've added some of our own extras!

For one thing, the dash has been completely redesigned. There's an awesome 8-inch touch screen that controls the entertainment system and Ford's Sync 3 navigation system. As I showed in the video, I use my Apple iPhone and the Apple Car Play function built into the Ford entertainment system.

photo of phone cup holder extra added to Jennifer demonstrates how not both front seats swivel on the our new Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RV on the 2020 Ford Transit cutaway chassis

The first accessory I showed in the video is the Weathertech Cup Phone holder for my iPhone. It sits in a cup holder that Ford placed to the left of the steering wheel. I connect my phone to a USB jack recessed into the top of the dash and then use the Ford Transit's Apple Play feature to run all my phone apps through the entertainment system. Here's my Amazon affiliate link for the cup holder, which costs $52 and comes in various sizes that will fit just about any cup holder you have in any vehicle – https://amzn.to/2OSXnzZ

As I show in the video , I use the Waze app for navigation almost exclusively. I also use my Apple Podcast app to listen to podcasts and the iHeartRadio app to tune into my favorite radio stations from wherever I am in the country.

The cup holder is a pretty simple little extra but it really makes things convenient for me.

We added this video monitor to our new Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RV on the 2020 Ford Transit cutaway chassis

The next extra we added is a bit more involved. It's an always-on rear-facing outside camera and a dedicated 7-inch video monitor installed at the top and the center of the windshield.

We had such a system in our previous RV and before we took possession of our new one, we asked our dealer – Holland Motorhomes in Holland, MI – to install a similar system in our new Leisure Travel Vans Wonder on the Ford Transit chassis. They mounted the camera on the top back of the RV and the monitor at the top of the windshield right behind the cover for the Transit's forward-facing crash detection system.

The monitor we bought is the Voyager VOM18 7-inch display. You can see it on Amazon at  https://amzn.to/2ZXf7k5.

The camera we had mounted is the Voyager VCMS17B Super CMOS Color Rear Mount Observation Camera with LED Low-Light Assist available at https://amzn.to/32Tqpb2

We chose a wired system rather than a wireless system. Wireless systems like this are probably fine and are usually less costly (because installation is something you can do yourself), but we chose to have a wired system installed by the dealer to minimize the problem of interference, which wireless cameras and monitors can be subject to.

The monitor cost about $415. The camera $125. The dealer charged their hourly shop rate to install it, which took about three hours.

Frankly, I didn't shop around for this very much. The dealer had this system in stock in their parts store and that was good enough for me. They did a super good job installing it and having that camera always on giving us a wide and clear view of what's behind us is – in our opinion – a necessary safety feature very much worth the investment. The Transit cutaway does have a rearview camera but it is only activated when in reverse.

photo of BlackVue front facing dashcam

There is another camera we added to the cab of our new Leisure Travel Vans Wonder on the Ford Transits cutaway chassis – a dashcam. I bought the same system I had put on our previous RV – the Blackvue DR 9005 2 Ch dashcam system. It sells for $413. Here's an Amazon link – https://amzn.to/2ZXCUQQ

Again, you can find a lot less expensive dashcam systems that do a fine job.

I chose this system because of my previous experience with it and the excellent video the two cameras provide (it's called a 2 Channel system because it has two cameras that record simultaneously). The high definition images of the cameras are astounding. One is facing front to record what we see out the windshield. The smaller camera faces back towards us so we can capture our perspective. The system records audio (which you can disable), can save the video to the cloud as well as a mini SD card, and is a regular part of our Vlogging geat,

Photo of rear facing Blackvue dashcam we installed on our Leisure Travel Vans Wonder

It's wired into a 12-volt outlet in the recessed area of the Ford Transit dashboard and automatically turns on and starts recording as soon as I start the engine.

As I said, you can get much more affordable dashcams. We use ours for the video quality Blakvue is known for,

The one other accessory I showed in our YouTube video is another camera, the new GoPro Hero 8 Black, with the media mod that offers a built-in high-quality shotgun microphone. We love GoPro cameras and use them all the time in our videos.

This one is mounted on the dash and is used to record Jennifer and I as we do our video standups. I know a lot of you do this, too, so we thought we'd show you what we are now using. The camera costs $399 and we bought it with the accessories in this Amazon link – https://amzn.to/32PLXoQ

The media mod is $79 and is available  at https://amzn.to/2OW5Fao

If you are interested in more of the gear we use in producing our videos and our RV Lifestyle Travel Blog Reports, check out this article we wrote a few weeks ago on the best new gadgets and gizmos for vlogging .

The YouTube video that accompanies this article goes over some of the nice changes and upgrades to the Ford Transit, The redesigned dash is impressive, as is the ability of both the front and passenger seats on the Wonder to fully swivel around. In previous Transit models, only the passenger seat could swivel. Now both do.

Notable safety and security features include an anti-theft system with engine immobilization, a lane-keeping system, pre-collision assist with automatic braking, tire pressure monitoring system, side wind stabilization, electric power-assist steering, auto start-stop technology, and a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Our Wonder also has Ford's optional Intelligent-All-Wheel-Drive feature, new this year for Leisure Travel Vans.

The video also features Jennifer driving our Wonder.

Her conclusion : It just might be the easiest RV we have ever driven, quiet, stable and so comfortable to operate it feels like you are in a high-end SUV.

I know a lot of you are curious about how much the Leisure Travel Vans Wonder on the Ford Transit chassis costs. It starts at $119,210.You can price out one with the options you'd like at  https://leisurevans.com/build/wonder/

We've only had this unit for a month now and we have lots of other things we want to add. But first, we're ready to set off on some camping adventures.

The 15 Best Camper Vans for Getting Away From It All in Style

The first years of this decade have already provided ample evidence that it’s important to get away from our daily lives from time to time.  And you don’t have to suffer the airport hordes or step foot on a plane to do so. We currently find ourselves in something of a golden age for luxury trailers, which has made it easier than ever to take your life on the road without sacrificing many, and in some cases any, of the comforts of home. And now, there are plenty of manufacturers and dedicated conversion shops giving the same treatment to vans and other similar vehicles. They may not be able to sleep as many people as their hulking cousins—with one key exception—but these all-in-one wonders come loaded with perks such as high-end kitchens, Wi-Fi-enabled multimedia systems, and plush beds. Plus, their relatively smaller size means they are more agile, off-road friendly, and easier to park. Below are 15 campers that will let you experience #vanlife in comfort and style.

Our Best Camper Van Picks

Best overall: airstream interstate 24x, best for off-roading: jayco terrain, best for weekend getaways: mercedes-benz eqt marco polo, best for off-the-grid trips: winnebago solis, best for cyclists: outside van tails, best for camping (anywhere): storyteller overland beast mode 4×4, best to live in: loki expeditions discovery series, best all-electric option: tonke eqv.

Best for $50,000: caravan outfitter free bird, best for families: winnebago boldt, best for winter road trips: sportsmobile sprinter 4×4, best conversion: boho old faithful, best for diy couples: ford transit trail.

Airstream Interstate 24X

Airstream. Thankfully, the company isn’t afraid to branch out. Just look at the  Interstate 24X , the trailer maker’s attempt to take the camper van to new heights. Built on the bones of a  Mercedes-Benz  Sprinter—like a lot of the models on this list—the vehicle has everything you need to rough it in comfort. Airstream has done a lot to maximize space in its climate-controlled cabin. A modular dining table doubles as a desk, and it can be easily converted into the largest sleeping area in a Class B Motorhome. There’s also a full mini kitchen and bathroom. You can take the van off-roading, too. In addition to a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6 engine that churns out 188 hp and 325 ft lbs of torque, it also comes equipped with four-wheel drive, a height-adjustable suspension and all-terrain tires. Pricing for the all-around beast starts at $213,850.

Special Features: —A climate-controlled living area that has been designed to maximize available space. —A modular dinner table, a mini-kitchen and a bathroom with a toilet.

Jayco Terrain

Jayco is best known for its hulking travel trailers, but like Airstream, it can do compact, too (well, compact enough to fit in a parking space, that is). The US company’s new  Terrain  model, which starts at $192,000, is an adventure van designed for those who like to veer from the beaten path. As the name suggests, it’s designed for off-roading, with a turbo-diesel V-6, Koni shocks, a rear stabilizer and a rear hitch strong enough to tow an additional trailer if you need more room. Inside, it’s a little spartan compared to some other options on this list, but its kitchenette can be converted into a sleeping area with room for a full-size bed, as well as plenty of storage space beneath. There’s even a built-in awning when you need some shade in the summer months.

The Mercedes-Benz Concept EQT Marco Polo from the side The Concept EQT Marco Polo

Mercedes-Benz clearly doesn’t want to relinquish its title as the go-to van maker for outdoor lovers. At last year’s Düsseldorf Caravan Salon, the German marque showed off a prototype based on its upcoming all-electric EQT van called the Marco Polo. The stylish EV has everything you need for a weekend at the campground and is more compact than the ubiquitous Sprinter. When the van’s rear seats are folded down, the back can be used as either a sleeping area with room for a double bed or a cooking and entertaining space. The kitchen doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of some of the other entries on this list, but it does have a pull-out stove, fridge and sink. There’s also a pop-up, roof-mounted tent if your travel party includes more than two. The Marco Polo is a concept, but Mercedes will sell a module that will allow you to turn any EQT into a camper van when the $51,500 EV goes on sale in the spring.

Winnebago Solis Pocket 36B

The Winnebago Solis is for adventurers who don’t want to be confined to the campground. The van is available with an optional power kit that has everything a group of up to four adults needs to spend a few days off-the-grid. The setup, which includes an inverter, a shore battery converter, a battery energy converter, a solar energy converter and an alternator energy optimizer, can produce enough power to keep the van and all its features running for up to 72 hours. On top of that, the van features a kitchenette, a convertible entertainment area with room for a double bed, and a full-width wet bath.

The Outside Van Tails next to a cyclist

If you like to mix biking and camping, Outside Van has the vehicle for you. The Portland brand’s  Tails  model is a camper van designed with cyclists in mind. The van, which is based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, has everything you need for a few days away from home, including a kitchenette, a roll-over sofa and a convertible mattress. But what really sets it apart is the rear of the vehicle that’s basically an on-the-go bicycle repair shop, with a fold-down work table, an air compressor and Molle panels to hang all your tools. If that wasn’t enough, it somehow has room for six bikes, even when the bed is laid out for the night.

Storyteller Overland Beast Mode 4x4

This latest offering from Storyteller Overland, based in Birmingham, Ala., is a true adventure van. The  Beast Mode 4×4  is the outfit’s most feature-packed model yet and was designed specifically for overlanding (as you may have guessed from the company’s name). It’s a true 4×4 powered by a 188 hp turbodiesel V-6 that’s strong enough to tow an additional 5,000 pounds. Its slick retro-style livery is offset with loads of useful off-roading gear, too, such as an LED light package, a roof rack and a side ladder and custom wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich K02 tires. Inside, you’ll find everything you need to relax after a day of exploring, including a cushy lounge that can be converted to a full-size sleeping area. There’s even a climate-control system to ensure you’re comfortable no matter the weather outside. It’s priced at a flat $198,746, for everything listed above.

The Loki Expedition Discovery Series Expedition Vehicle

Let’s get this out of the way: the Loki Expeditions Discovery Series isn’t technically a camper van. It’s a giant expedition vehicle, but because its cabin is installed directly onto a heavy-duty truck chassis you also don’t need anything to tow it. The vehicle’s cabin is what separates it from anything else on this list. Loki Expeditions has turned a shipping container—yes, you read that right—into a full-featured living space that has all the amenities you’d expect to find in a luxury apartment, including a full kitchen with a large fridge, an entertainment area with a U-shaped banquet, and a wet bath with a cassette toilet. It’s also big enough to sleep six adults, with room for two in the dedicated bedroom and four in the entertainment area. And because the heavy-duty vehicle, which starts at $550,000, has all-wheel drive, you can take it practically anywhere.

The Tonke Mercedes-Benz EQV Touring with its pop-up tent opened

Looking for an EV you can take to the campground. The upcoming EQV just might fit the bill. Despite its relatively compact size—it’s smaller than the ever-popular Sprinter—Dutch camping outfit Tonke has managed to outfit it with everything you need to spend some time communing with nature. It has an entertainment area that doubles as a workspace along with a kitchenette, both of which can be converted into a two-person sleeping area with a simple flip of a bench (a roof-mounted, pop-up tent means it can sleep two more, too). Best of all, there are two variants available—the Touring, which is designed for long road trips, and the Adventure, which is aimed at casual campers.

Best for G-Wagen Lovers: Terracamper Tecrawl

The Terracamper Tecrawl with its awning and kitchenette out

The Tecrawl isn’t a camper van per se, but it’s hard to leave something this cool off a list like this. Terracamper’s latest offering is based on one of Mercedes-Benz’s most legendary vehicles, the G-Wagen . The German shop has dreamed up a modular accessory kit for the luxury 4×4, that starts at $11,900 and includes a roof-mounted tent, a convertible sofa, and a pull-out kitchenette with a fridge box. Thanks to the ingenious setup, the boxy SUV can sleep up to three and act as your home base next time you want to rough it for the weekend. And because it’s a G-Wagen you can take it as far off-road as you want.

Thor Motor Coach Sanctuary

Thor Motor Coach makes camper vans for those uninterested in making sacrifices. With the  Sanctuary , the company has taken Mercedes-Benz’s already excellent Sprinter 2500 4×4 and turned it into something you could easily live on—on or off the grid. The off-road-ready vehicle comes in two configurations—the 19P ($148,680), which features a back bench that converts into a bed, or the 19L ($151,060), which has a fixed double bed. Even with the bed there’s still plenty of room for other creature comforts, including a bathroom, an entertainment area with a TV and a kitchen with a sink, a dual-burner cooktop, a convection microwave oven and a fridge. An Onan 2500 LP generator keeps everything up and running, too, including an A/C system you can leave on for eight hours at a time. There’s also retractable power awning when you want to spend some time outdoors.

The Caravan Outfitter Free Bird from the side

Caravan Outfitter’s third-generation Free Bird isn’t the most feature-laden camper van out there, but it has everything you and the family need to spend a weekend (or more) at the campground. The van, which starts at $50,810, is built on the relatively compact Ford Transit Connect platform but still has room for a full-size bed, a multi-purpose table that can be used as a dinette or workstation, and a pull-out kitchenette with a sink. Because it’s smaller than other options on this list, it only has room to sleep two, but there are several enticing add-ons, including roof- and rear-mounted capsule tents, in case you’re traveling group includes more people.

Winnebago Boldt

Airstream isn’t the only famous RV maker that’s gotten into the camper van game. Winnebago actually sells several, and our favorite is the luxe  Boldt . Despite being nowhere near as long as one of its campers—it caps out at 22 feet in length—the $230,276 van has everything you’d expect from the larger vehicle, including dedicated living and sleeping areas, a fully functional kitchen and a bathroom equipped with a shower. You also have several interior decor options to choose from, each of which delivers an updated take on classic Winnebago style. The Boldt is designed for paved roads and campgrounds, but if you want a more rugged ride, the brand also offers the off-road-ready  Revel.

Special Features: —Stretches 22 feet bumper to bumper, meaning there’s plenty of room for you and yours. —Enough space for dedicated entertaining and sleeping areas.

Sportsmobile Sprinter 4x4

Take one look at  Sportsmobile’s Sprinter 4×4  and it’s clear what its designers had in mind: off-roading. Whether you go with the 12- or 14-foot configuration, the Texas outfit’s stripped-down take on Mercedes’s ultra-popular van comes equipped with a 3.0-liter BlueTec V-6 connected to a five-speed automatic transmission and pumps out 188 hp and 325 ft lbs of torque. That should be more than enough to tackle even the toughest terrain. Inside, you’ll find a spacious living area with a full-featured kitchen. If you want even more room, you can also opt for a pop-up sleeping area that’ll make it that much easier to lounge in comfort.

The Boho Old Faithful from the side

Struggling to find a camper van that’s just right? Boho might be able to help. The Arizona-based company specializes in conversions and will work with you to create the vehicle of your dreams. The company offers several 20- to 24-foot layouts—of which the most popular is the appropriately named Old Faithful—that can be further tailored to meet your needs, whether your priority is multi-season versatility, lots of cooking space, or spending serious amounts of time on the road. The company also offers plenty of cool add-ons too, like wood paneling and flooring.

The 2023 Ford Transit Trail from the side

Ford’s ready to knock the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter off its perch. The Detroit giant unveiled its own camper van, the Transit Trail, last fall. The adventure-ready vehicle is based on its uber-popular commercial van but is taller, wider and outfitted with protective body cladding. It’s also powered by a potent V-6 that sends 310 horses and 400 ft lbs to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic gearbox. Right now, Ford seems content to let the $65,975 vehicle be the base for the camper van of your dreams, but it comes loaded with a slew of features that will come in handy at the campground, including a drillable wall you can use to install shelves, a kitchenette or furniture, along with a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen and a back-up camera. It also available in three body configurations—medium-roof, standard length; high-roof, standard length; and high-roof, extended length—one of which should fit your needs.

Special Features: —It’s basically a blank slate for you and your partner to create your own dream camper. —Still comes with premium features such as a 12-inch infotainment screen and a back-up camera.

The Smallest RV’s with a Shower & Toilet

Class B RV with shower and bathroom

Having a small RV or trailer can make weekend getaways a lot easier. Smaller rigs are usually easier to tow, park, store long term, and have better fuel efficiency.

The problem with smaller RVs is they don’t always include a bathroom and shower. Not having your facilities means you have to go with nothing, haul your waste in a portable black tank , or use what is provided in the campgrounds which can be substandard.

Looking to find the smallest RV that will offer the luxury of an onboard restroom and water heater? Check out these wonderful options!

Smallest Travel Trailers With A Shower & Toilet

This is actually quite a broad category which encompasses the pop-up camper, A-frame trailers, teardrop campers, the traditional bumper pull, and fifth wheels. While all of these differ slightly, they all have one thing in common: Towing is required.

Some of the smallest travel trailers that include a shower and toilet are listed below.

14’ iCamp Elite

The ultimate towable micro-camper, the 14’ iCamp Elite somehow manages to pack a lot of functionality into a teeny tiny space. This camper features a bathroom, fridge, and oven, as well as a dinette that converts into a comfy, relatively large bed.

13’ Scamp Trailer with Front Bathroom

We love Scamp trailers! Why? The build of these fiberglass trailers makes them almost 100% leak-proof, something every RV owner will tell you is a miracle. Additionally, despite their tiny size, Scamp manages to cram everything you need into their rigs.

A comparable brand is Casita, which also offers a nearly leak-proof build and great floor plans.

  • Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: 1,500 lbs
  • Length: 13’

Little Guy Mini Max

Yet another awesome addition to the world of small campers, the Little Guy Mini Max is everything you need in a camper. Featuring a wet bath, a surprisingly large refrigerator, and a versatile convertible dinette, you are sure to be comfortable in this RV.

  • Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: 2,900 lbs
  • Length: 17’2”
  • Width: 6’9”

Class B RVs With A Shower & Restroom

Next in our lineup is the class B motorhome. These are smaller rigs that are often referred to as campervans thanks to their van-like appearance. People love these motorhomes because they are easy to drive while still providing them with everything they need.

Try the options below if you’re looking for a class B complete with a restroom.

Airstream Interstate Twin Dual Wardrobe

With two twin beds in the back, this deluxe campervan is perfect for those traveling with a friend. We also love the two separate wardrobes, something that is rarely found in class B motorhomes.

The bathroom in this RV is a wet bath, meaning the shower is in the same space as the RV toilet . However, we think this a worthwhile tradeoff for keeping things as small as possible.

Leisure Travel Vans U24MB

Technically, this van is a class B+, meaning it is slightly larger than your typical class B. That said, the extra space is well used. The Murphy bed is an excellent space saver, and the enormous bathroom is just wonderful. We also appreciate that this rig features a slide-out, something you won’t find in many class Bs.

The Sportsmobile Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Extended

This customizable RV is just perfect for those who wish to have a say in every aspect of their RV floorplan. From the bed arrangements to the colors, you get to decide what goes into your Sportsmobile Mercedes Sprinter van. Once again, this RV features a wet bath rather than a full bath in the name of saving space.

Class C RVs With A Shower & Toilet Onboard

A class C motorhome is the perfect option for those who want something roomier than the tiny class B but prefer a truck-like driving experience rather than the bus-like setup of the class A. Class C RVs also tend to be a bit less expensive than class A motorhomes, and they often offer more sleeping spaces, making them ideal for families.

Below are some of our favorite small class C motorhome options.

Winnebago View 24M

The perfect small step up from a class B, the Winnebago View 24M is a compact class C with a roomy and comfortable living area. The RV features an over-cab bunk as well as a pull-out couch and convertible dinette, meaning it can sleep plenty of people. That said, there is no bed in the back. This leaves room for a surprisingly large bathroom, something we adore.

  • Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: 9,880 lbs
  • Length: 24’6”
  • Width: 7’6”

  • YouTube Video Tour – https://youtube.com/watch?v=xedmhzLJXnM

Thor Chateau 22B

Another great small class C is the Thor Chateau. While this RV comes in a variety of different floorplans, we especially love the 22B.

This classy RV offers users a cab-over bunk as well as a queen bed in back, meaning no transitions are required once bedtime rolls around. There is also a relatively large bathroom in this rig, which is made possible by the bedroom slide.

  • Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: 14,500 lbs
  • Length: 24’
  • Width: 8’3”
  • YouTube Video Tour – https://youtube.com/watch?v=WFRsuZNd91M

Coachmen Leprechaun 210RS

The Leprechaun is one of the most popular class C RVs on the market. What we love about this particular floor plan is the amazing pantry space as well as the J-lounge style dinette, both of which make cooking and dining in the RV a breeze.

  • Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: 20,000 lbs
  • Length: 24’9”
  • Width: 8’4”

Class A RVs With A Shower & Bathroom

Many believe there is no such thing as a small class A. After all, most of these motorhomes are quite large. The fact that they are built like a bus makes them look and feel even bigger. That said, there are a smaller class A options.

Below are some of the best small class A motorhomes that contain both a toilet and a shower.

Thor Vegas 25.6

The Thor Vegas features a drop-down over-cab bunk that makes for plenty of sleeping area. We also love the slide, which really opens the RV up. Note that the Thor Axis line of motorhomes is almost identical to the Vegas line and is also an excellent option.

  • Length: 26’6”
  • Width: 7’10”
  • YouTube Video Tour – https://youtube.com/watch?v=SzwIYvliGnc

Winnebago Intent 26M

Winnebago is a fabulous, reputable company that puts out quality products. The Intent is no exception. This small class A features two slides, making it feel large while still maintaining a relatively small profile. We love the split-bathroom feature, which makes getting ready much easier.

  • Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: 16,000 lbs
  • Length: 26’10”
  • Width: 8’10”
  • Slideouts: 2
  • YouTube Video Tour – https://youtube.com/watch?v=_jjS2OW4Mts

Thor A.C.E 27.2

Another great small model by Thor, the A.C.E. 27.2 is noteworthy for a variety of reasons. The king-sized bed is beloved by many. This floorplan is also different in that it fits both a dinette and a sofa in the small space. This is something neither of the other class A’s we’ve listed can claim.

How the Key Bridge Collapsed in Baltimore: Maps and Photos

By Weiyi Cai ,  Agnes Chang ,  Lauren Leatherby ,  Lazaro Gamio ,  Leanne Abraham and Scott Reinhard

On Tuesday, a major bridge in Baltimore collapsed into the water seconds after it was struck by a cargo ship, sending vehicles on the bridge into the river below. The ship lost power and issued a mayday call shortly before it hit the bridge.

A video shows the cargo ship striking the bridge and the resulting collapse of the bridge.

The ship, a 948-foot-long cargo vessel called Dali, was about a half hour into its journey toward Colombo, Sri Lanka, when it hit a main pillar of the bridge. All crew members are safe, according to the ship’s owners.

Follow our live coverage .

A mayday call from the ship gave officials enough time to stop traffic at both ends of the bridge. The waters where the bridge collapsed are about 50 feet deep. By Tuesday morning, six construction workers who had been fixing potholes on the bridge remained missing as divers and other emergency workers on boats and helicopters continued to search for them. Two others had been rescued, and one was in the hospital.

The Francis Scott Key Bridge was opened in 1977 and carried more than 12.4 million vehicles last year. The bridge was one of the three major ways to cross the Patapsco River and formed part of Baltimore’s beltway.

The Port of Baltimore is a major trade hub that handled a record amount of foreign cargo last year. It is an especially important destination — the nation’s largest by volume last year — for deliveries of cars and light trucks.

Overall, Baltimore was the 17th biggest port in the United States in 2021, ranked by total tons, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. The bridge collapse brought marine traffic there to a standstill, with seven cargo or tanker ships stranded in the harbor as of Tuesday afternoon.

Gov. Wes Moore declared a state of emergency for Maryland and said that his office was in close communication with Pete Buttigieg, the U.S. transportation secretary. The White House issued a statement saying that President Biden had been briefed on the collapse.

As the loss of six construction workers emphasized the tragedy of Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse last Tuesday, one man who traveled the bridge just minutes before a cargo ship crash brought it down says he is “thankful that he’s still here.”

“If I had been another … minute, I may not be here talking to you,” Larry Desantis told WTOP.

Desantis was headed to one of his bakery jobs to the next on the night of the collapse, and says he was one of the last cars to cross the bridge before it fell.

“I’ve seen my truck going across (the bridge in one of the videos),” Desantis said. “It looked like it was almost as the ship was hitting the bridge.”

Maryland Transportation Authority officers had stopped cars from driving onto the bridge just prior to the collision.

Desantis said that on Tuesday night, he traveled cautiously across the bridge after seeing the presence of construction workers.

“I don’t even look out off to the side of the bridge anymore when I see workers, because I’m very cautious about that. So many of them have been killed by people driving,” Desantis told WTOP. “I really didn’t even see the ship at all because I wasn’t looking anywhere but (at) what was right in front of me.”

Of eight construction workers on the bridge at the time of its collapse, two survived .

“I feel sorry for the people that lost their lives,” Desantis told WTOP, adding that his narrowly avoiding tragedy has inspired him to “live day to day” being the best person he can.

As for traveling over bridges, Desantis has retained a positive outlook, even as many others are experiencing trepidation about the act .

“I love bridges, I really do,” Desantis said. “You see the skyline, you see the ships coming in. I like going over bridges with water … the scenery is so much better than driving through a tunnel. So much more to see.”

WTOP’s Mike Murillo contributed to this report.

  1. Driving the Leisure Travel Vans Unity

Let's talk about the drivability of a Leisure Travel Van, as the driving experience is an important aspect of the RV experience. Many seasoned RV owners will tell you that driving an RV can be a stressful, tiring situation. The rear lounge set up with the footrests up.

Storage in the Leisure Travel Vans Wonder RTB. One of the principal benefits of those raised rear beds is the fact that that configuration leaves room for a big storage bay at the outside rear of the coach. In the case of this model, Leisure Travel Vans put a large sliding drawer in the bottom of the storage area.
