Intimate and fun canal cruise

What a great canal cruise. Highly recommend. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable and we definitely felt the experience was more intimate than the big canal cruises. This one is max 12 people and ours had 4 total. Those other boats have like 100 people stiluffed in them. It was so nice to be on a classic boat cruising the canal.

The boat tour was very relaxing and educational. It was a nice way to learn about the city and the canals. The weather was not great but the boat is heated and blankets and wine were provided.

This was a private cruise for two with dinner from the Andaz. It was very nice. Skip, our boat captain did a great job. He was personable, knowledgeable, And helpful. It was a cold rainy night but boat was very comfortable. I would highly Skip and thus very private dinner canal cruise. Bob A

Excellent canal cruise

I have previously taken the "big boat" canal cruises, and the Leemstar is FAR better. There were only 6 people on our boat, and Jack (the captain) was wonderfully entertaining. He shared alot of interesting facts and we could ask any questions. SO MUCH better than the standard canal cruises!

After 3 days of exploring Amsterdam on foot, we decided an evening cruise would be a great way to end our visit here. Leemstar did not disappoint! For starters, the boat is beautiful. It’s clean and comfortable, equipped with pillows and blankets, and has inside and outside seating depending on your preference. The boat is smaller than many of the larger cruising boats you’ll see on the canals which we loved. It’s much more intimate of an experience. Captain Jack was awesome!! For starters his English is impeccable, not only on the information he shared with us but also answering questions and conversational banter. He told us about architecture, culture and history. We learned a ton about Amsterdam on this cruise as he took us through the canals and out into Amstel River. It was the perfect mix of information and fun. Captain Jack was very entertaining. We enthusiastically recommend this cruise for anyone looking to see the city and have a great personalized experience.

Capt. Jack, as he’s called because his Dutch name is too difficult for English speakers, provided a very nice overview of the Canal Zone on our 90 minute cruise today. He is a wealth of information, seems honest about when he may not know an answer to a question (rare), and quite engaging as well. The Leemstar is a beautiful head turning vessel. She gets a lot of attention from those on shore. This is a great value for the money. I’m not sure why you would come all the way to Amsterdam and cruise on a mega boat with no personality.

Honestly the best canal cruise in Amsterdam! After doing some searching on the web looking for a small tour with an informational guide, I found Leemstar and couldn't be more thankful that I did! It was my family's first time in Amsterdam and this was by far their favorite experience of the trip. We were running a bit late but after calling they were super helpful and understanding. The captain answered all of our random questions while also providing so much information on each place we cruised past. He was funny and made sure there was never a dull moment! We went on one of the large lover's canal cruises another day and there's no comparison. The experience and information we received from Leemstar exceeded all expectations!

This relaxing canal tour is the more comprehensive of the two canal tours we took during our visit since it covered both the east and west sides of Amsterdam. Arnout provides a nice perspective as a long-time local resident. It is easy to book by text.

We did a late afternoon cruise and selected the smaller open air boat which was def the way to go. Great boat -electric so no loud motor and pretty new. Captain Jack was very nice and outgoing and full of lots of knowledge including historical influences and impacts. Would HIGHLY recommend. Note: there is no website to book on but they got back to me right away thru WhatsApp which worked great or you can call them. Other boat is lovely -partially open, partial covered -we just preferred the full open one because it was a beautiful day and you can see more.

We were met by the appropriately named “Skip” who greeted us on board. We were lucky to just have 5 of us in total and were asked if any of us were on a tight schedule as due to the light festival he wanted to show us a few more sights. None of us were so we embarked on an excellent 2 hour tour of the canals with expert commentary from Skip. Every photo opportunity was well planned and our glasses were kept topped up whilst we enjoyed the sights.
