I Went to Opening Weekend of the Eras Tour — Here's What to Wear to Taylor Swift's Concert

On March 18, 2023, I buzzed with excitement in a crowd of nearly 70,000 fans eagerly counting down the seconds (literally — a giant clock ticked on screen) until Taylor Swift walked onstage for her second show of the wildly-anticipated Eras Tour . Three hours and 13 minutes later, I was basking in the blissful aftermath of an epic 44-song setlist from the music icon.

But before that, I thought long and hard about what to wear to a Taylor Swift concert I'd been daydreaming about for years. With 11 albums and four re-recordings in her discography, the options were endless. Should I dress for the glimmering, moody Midnights , wander back into the whimsical woods in honor of Folklore and Evermore , embrace the bubblegum pink wonderland of Lover , or pay tribute to Red (Taylor's Version) in loafers and, well, red?

The countless Taylor Swift concert outfit ideas might seem overwhelming, but after attending the first stop on the Eras Tour, I can tell you this: You'll see a little bit of everything (and a lot of sparkles.) Some Swifties threw it back to Fearless in cowboy boots , others wore heart-covered tulle dresses, and one dedicated fan even covered herself head-to-toe in ivy in honor of the Evermore track.

When Swift first announced the impending release of her eleventh studio album,  The Tortured Poets Department  during the 2024 Grammy Awards, fans weren’t sure what to expect. But in true Swiftie fashion, it didn’t take long for the masses to become well acquainted with the album’s sultry black-and-white aesthetic, numerous Easter eggs, and  chart-topping 31-song tracklist  in the weeks following its April 19 release.

And on her first tour stop following the drop, Swift did indeed  add an entirely new section for her  TTPD  era , including songs “So High School,” “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” and “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” To dress like a devoted member of the department, sport a romantic white blouse, silky black opera gloves, or ruffled gown courtesy of the “Fortnight” music video.

Swift's second-latest album, Midnights, evokes a '70s haze, if you will, with purple eyeshadow, tousled hair, and shag coats. For the final portion of her Eras Tour setlist, the "Anti-Hero" singer wore two outfits: a sparkly T-shirt dress topped with a lavender fur jacket that was dripping in crystals and a bejeweled dark purple fringe leotard, both worn with knee-high Christian Louboutin rhinestone boots.

While you might not go that extra (or designer), the color palette is an easy place to start. I opted for these lavender metallic wide-leg trousers and this sparkly ruched cowl neck tank top , both under $25 at Cider. Before there was the starry-eyed Taylor seeing life through rose-colored glasses, we had the all-black-clad, hooded, narrow-eyed snake, aka Reputation -era Taylor . It's been a long time coming but.... it's been a crazy few years for miss Taylor Swift. She's dropped hint after hint, easter egg after easter egg, song after song, music video after music video!! She's truly a great entertainer and artist, and genuinely one of my favorite musicians to fangirl over.

I got tickets to Taylor Swift's Era's tour, and am trying to decide what era I should go as. . I can't wait to see what Taylor Swift's concert outfits are for this tour!

What do I wear to a Taylor Swift concert? Especially to the Eras tour?

Attendees are planning to wear outfits inspired by their favorite Taylor Swift era. There are ten eras total: Taylor Swift (Self-Titled), Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, Reputation, Lover, Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights. Each era has its own vibe, color aesthetic, and specific pieces Taylor wore during those periods. For example, Reputation is an absolute classic, with snake print, black leather, and tons of sass. Or maybe the Red era? I mean, that one IS my favorite Taylor Swift album. Come as a sad autumn girl with a red scarf, black high-waisted shorts and oxfords— that's definitely a vibe.

But as I was thinking through this, I thought maybe I could make mood boards and help others find the perfect Taylor Swift outfits from amazon to wear to Taylor Swift's concert on her The Eras Tour! I assure you, while putting this list together, with each era I worked on I listened to the album ;) Guaranteed inspiration!

Because of each stadium's bag policy, concert-goers need to bring a clear see-through bag to the venue. Here are a few realyl cute ones I've found. The first is pretty simple, but you can find clear bags that are really stylized to fit your eras tour outfit!

I'm also seeing a lot of people at Taylor Swift's concerts wearing body glitter and hair gems! Here are some options online that are great for doing glitzy hair and makeup the day of the Eras tour concert. The hair gem style has been SUPER popular, and you'll find a lot of other gals at the tour that are rocking similar!

The Tortured poets Department (TTPD) Era

Blondie's latest album, "The Tortured Poets Department," not only captivates with its haunting melodies and introspective lyrics but also showcases a distinct fashion style and creative direction that I absolutely love. Drawing inspiration from the album's themes of introspection, longing, and poetic melancholy, Swift's fashion aesthetic exudes a sense of timeless elegance fused with dangerous edge. She's been donning a mix of vintage-inspired pieces and modern silhouettes, often layered with intricate details like lace, embroidery, and statement accessories.

To capture Taylor Swift's "The Tortured Poets Department" era style, channel a blend of romanticism and vintage flair. Taylor has established a very dark, romantic and victorian feel for this era, both in her promo photos and videos, but also her new set at the Eras tour (premiered in Paris, May 2024).

If you want to come to the concert the MOST prepared, you can dress like the current Era: the Eras era! Pretty meta, right? Here are some of the outfits that Taylor's been wearing on her tour that you can recreate in your concert outfit:

Stage outfit 1— Midnights era Lavender Haze jacket

Taylor wears a pink/lavender sparkly dress with a fun faux-fur lavender coat. You can find a super sparkly dress and add a lavender faux fur coat, and look just like Taylor!

Stage outfit 2— Evermore era pink dress

Taylor's whimsical pink dress during her Evermore era is GORGEOUS. Play up your own ethereal vibe and wear a similar dress to the Eras tour!

Stage outfit 3— Reputation era jumpsuit

Taylor wears this awesome one-legged jumpsuit with red snakes all over it. You can buy a black sparkly jumpsuit and attach red snake appliqués to create a look similar to it.

She's reinvented her own RED era look with a shirt that instead of saying "Not a lot going on at the moment" it says "A LOT going on at the moment"! I've found a shirt that says exactly that new phrase on Amazon. Taylor also pairs it with a pair of sparkly black bottoms and a black hat.

RED is my personal favorite from her discography, mostly because this is the era where I because a HUGE Taylor Swift fan, rather than just a casual listener. All of the raw pain and anguish in this album make this era (and the TV era!) probably what I'm going to choose for the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour!

This era probably has some of the most iconic fashion moments of Taylor Swift's career. The Taylor Swift red tour outfits were amazing. The "We Are Never Ever Ever Getting Back Together" and "22" looks just scream 2012! Now ten years later in 2022, this style is still just as amazing and showstoppping... and iconically RED . Try to find a good striped shirt and some tailored high waisted shorts, and add a pair of red Keds to complete the look!

Be sure to wear plenty of sequins, shiny fabrics, and two-piece outfits for a true 1989 era look from Taylor Swift! Add on the quintessential white rayon-type sunglasses to look like a true 1989 fan.

One of these outfits is a callback to Taylor's look at the 2016 Grammy Awards. I think it's such a unique outfit to wear to the Era's tour, because it's not exactly a "era" look, but something SO iconic from that era! Also, can you GET more 1989 than a pair of white rayon sunglasses? They were a staple piece in Taylor Swift's 1989 era.

This era is the most similar to my own personal style, so when I attended the Rep tour, I was living my best life!! All her songs have a pop edge to them, so make sure to dress accordingly.

Pink, lots of pink. Actually, all pink. Just kidding! I put together some outfit ideas that are inspired by some of her performance looks and music video outfits from the Lover era.

Makeup for your Lover eras tour outfit

If you're wanting to dress up as Taylor's Lover era, it's a sweet detail to do the heart shape makeup over her eye like she does on her album cover! In order to do that, you'll need two main items: liquid latex and skin-safe pink glitter. You can find them here:

I've used the liquid latex above before and it works really well. All you'll need to do is outline the heart around your eye with the liquid latex, wait for it to get tacky, and then apply the pink glitter!

Folklore Era

If you aren't the sparkly-dress Taylor Swift fan, and want to be a sad cottage-core girl, here is your chance! This album screams alone-in-the-woods-and-in-the-feels.

Midnights only came out a few weeks ago while I'm writing this, so I'm still reeling from this album release! I know from the second I hear "Anti-Hero" that it would be an instant classic.

When it comes to the looks from Midnights era, they span from glitzy blue midnight dresses and plenty of sparkles, mixed with vintage looks that evoke a sense of 70s retro. Combining these all together will be the ultimate Midnights tour outfit!

The Taylor Swift Midnights vibe: Honestly, Taylor's Midnights aesthetic is all over the place, but can be boiled down to: 70s vintage, starry night, retro, oranges, blues, lavender, clocks, and anything, and I mean anything that is bejeweled.

Inspired by her 70's glam looks in much of the material for the release of her album midnights, you can don some burnt orange and corduroy and fit in well! The top and fur jacket look similar to the starry dress Taylor wore out when she was promoting "Midnights". For a more casual "Midnights" look, you can wear this sheer celestial top as well. If you plan on attending Taylor Swift’s, The Eras Tour, this post is for you. One of the most fun parts about seeing Taylor Swift live and perform for 3.5 hours, is that the entire audience is also on theme.

I don’t think I’ve ever been to a concert before that was quite like this. Not only was this one of the best concerts I have ever been to, but everyone, and I mean everyone, was dressed up in their favorite Taylor Swift era. Whether you were an OG Swiftie and have been listening since her debut album, or you’re more of a newbie like me who came around in her pop era, 1989, you can dress however you like for this epic concert.

To get you excited for your upcoming Eras Tour experience, here are some great Taylor Swift Eras Tour outfit ideas for each era. From iconic looks from Taylor’s albums, music videos, to tour outfits, these are sure to get you in the mood to sing and dance your heart out for 3.5 hours. Oh and yes make the friendship bracelets and share them with your new Eras Tour friends you meet along the way.

Debut Era Outfit Ideas

While The Eras Tour does not cover any songs from Taylor Swift’s self titled album that she released in 2006, you can still represent your favorite album with some of these fun pieces. Tim McGraw, Teardrops On My Guitar and Should’ve Said No are a few favorites from this country album.

During The Eras Tour for the Fearless era, Taylor is wearing a gold (and now gold and black) fringe tinsel style dress. It’s such a fun almost flapper style dress which is really easy to find for a quick outfit. But wear anything with gold and glitter and you’ll be good to go!

Hands down my favorite song in her country era. You can’t tell me that’s not the best country bop.

This era is ALL about all things purple. It’s feminine, it’s full of love so lean into the super feminine vibes. Lots of tulle, glitter, and butterflies. A few of my favorite songs from the Red Era include “All Too Well” (the 10 minute version obviously), “22” and “I Knew You Were Trouble”. From the vault, a personal favorite of mine is “Message In A Bottle”. For me, this was the album I started to like a few songs that crossed over to more pop in 2012-2013. And Taylor released Red, Taylor’s Version in 2021 along with some amazing vault songs.

And while a red lip is instantly what we think of for Taylor Swift, I think this era requires it for sure. Red lipstick, red nails, this is the RED era after all. PS, here’s some of my favorite red lipsticks that don’t budge.

The most iconic look of the era may be the graphic tee, black hat and shorts and this is such an easy outfit to put together with things you likely already have on hand. DIY your t-shirt or pick up a fun one on Etsy. Pair with black shorts and loafers.

This is the album that turned me into a Taylor Swift fan. I am not into country, so when 1989 came out in 2014, I was hooked as a pop music fan. The electronic pop vibes had me obsessed. There are so many options for 1989 and I love them all!

A few of my favorite songs from the 1989 album include “Blank Space”, “Style”, “Bad Blood”, “Clean”, and all of the vault songs (these may be my favorite songs of hers from her entire discography). She released Taylor’s Version of 1989 in 2023 while on The Eras Tour.

With so many great songs from the 1989 Era, you have a lot of options for outfits. You can try outfits inspired by the songs, music videos and of course, her Eras Tour outfits like matching sequined pieces and sequin dresses.

Taylor has recently upgraded her matching sequined sets on The Eras Tour to reflect a sequined skater skirt which I think is truly a nod back to the 1989 era.

Reputation Era Outfit Ideas

One of my favorite albums from Taylor Swift released in 2017 includes a few favorite songs like “Ready For It?”, “I Did Something Bad”, “Look What You Made Me Do”, and “Dress” (a personal favorite). This album is all about the media scrutiny and the snakes who tried to tear her reputation apart. Snakes are a must for this era along with lots of black, leather and mesh. This era is all about sexy, edgy and black.

And yes, we are all anxiously awaiting for Taylor’s Version of Reputation and I can not wait for it to finally arrive.

Reputation Eras Snake Outfit Idea

This snake bodysuit is so fun and different. I would add a black tube top under it if you are not into how revealing it is. Pair these fun tops with black denim, or black leather shorts or skirts for easy and comfortable outfits. And for shoes, black combat boots work great.

The Reputation Era is also synonymous with this newspaper print. There are a few fun pieces to shop that would be great with what you probably already have in your closet, black shorts or denim, and call it a day. This print is represented on the album and much of her Reputation tour.

One of my favorite albums, Lover was released in 2019 which was her first album she owned fully. Lover is full of beautiful love songs and pop favorites. From “Cruel Summer”, “Lover”, “The Man”, “False God” and more. I could go on, it’s one of my top 3 albums. Lots of pinks and blues and pretty lover details from hearts and girly flowers.

So much of the Lover era is full of pinks and blues, and lots of rainbow inspired looks with the album cover background. Combining Folklore and Evermore since Taylor Swift recently updated her set list to also combine these two eras. Folklore was released during the pandemic in 2020. And just five months later she casually drops Evermore.

These two albums have more folk, indie vibes to them with a few favorite songs like “Cardigan”, “The 1”, “Champagne Problems” and “August” to name a few from these sister albums.

Embrace the cottagecore vibes of this album and era. Try anything from Free People along with some lace-up boots. The more ruffles and tiers to your dress the better! Try a plaid dress too for something different. And don’t forget a braid in your hair to mimic the cover of Evermore.

Embrace mirrorball and champagne hues with one of these fun pieces for a nod to some of the best songs on these albums. Mostly we see the boho dresses and cottagcore outfits for these two eras, but these could be a fun option to try.

The Midnight’s album may be my favorite Taylor Swift album. Released in 2022, this album is hands down my favorite. From songs like “Lavendar Haze”, “Anti-Hero”, “Bejeweled”, “Karma” and my personal favorite, “Mastermind”. I could go on!

For the Midnight’s Era outfit ideas, go for all the sparkles and sequins in shades of navy or maroon. Opt for star prints, celestial prints and sequins. Lean into purple and navy, or go bejewelled if you will, in metallics. And if you want to maybe manifest a Karma album (because who isn’t), Taylor Swift has been wearing a new orange look so why not rock that color too for this era.

All The Sparkles For Midnights

I think this era is really fun to wear and just choose a fun sparkly item whether it’s a top or bottom, and pair it with your go-to comfy bottoms. That’s basically what I did for my Eras tour outfit. And you can try the tinsel fringe jacket that is available at Nasty Gal here.

Anti-Hero Outfit Idea

Another option for the Midnights Era is to try the anti-hero outfit which reflects the 70’s inspiration of the album cover. Just pair some burnt orange, or brown corduroy flares with a striped retro baby tee. Easy and comfortable!

The Tortured Poets Department Era Outfit Ideas

Hands down the best era of the entire show. The Tortued Poets Department (TTPD) was released in 2024 with a surprise second album to accompany it. Taylor Swift debuted TTPD as the newest era at The Eras Tour at the start of the European leg of the tour in Paris April 2024. This is the show I attended and it was just so damn good. From “Fortnight”, to “Down Bad”, “But Daddy I Love Him”, and hands down my absolute favorite was “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart”, this album is packed with incredible tunes.

Go for a white dress, white booties and a choker to achieve the look she donned at The Grammy’s and also in her TTPD performance. This is also perfect for those spring and summer concerts. And yes, white boots are a great investment, here’s how to style white boots so you’ll get some use out of them beyond the concert.

I Can Do It With A Broken Heart Outfit Idea

Since I went to the Paris shows, I feel like no one was in this look but I bet we’ll see it in upcoming shows. Why not dress like a showgirl or the tailcoat jacket with a sequined set underneath it? It’s a fun way to dress up for what I think is the BEST performance of the entire 3.5 hour show.

I opted for a comfortable sneaker, silky cargo pants , and a sequined bra top to represent my favorite era, Midnights. So you don’t have to go all in head to toe, instead, you can just add a nod in a top, or bottom. This should be a FUN evening so keeping your outfit comfortable I think is key! I hope you enjoy your Taylor Swift concert experience, it’s a memorable one!

Things To Know Before Going To The Eras Tour

Before you head to The Eras Tour which will undoubtedly be the best night of your life, there are a few things to keep in mind. This is to ensure you have the BEST time, and also feel your best.

Wear Comfortable Shoes

Maybe you’re capable of wearing 4 inch heels for 3.5 hours like Taylor, but I am not. I would opt for a comfortable shoe like a sneaker, or low heel. I think many of the outfits work well with comfortable shoes regardless. But you will likely be standing and dancing the entire time along with long wait times to get out of the stadium and back on trains to get home.

Know The Bag Rule

If you haven’t been to a sporting event or concert in a while, bag rules have changed drastically in the last few years. Check your venues bag rules to make sure you are able to bring your bag into the stadium without any issues.

Know The Chants

There are a few fun chants that fans do during songs like Anti-Hero’s “Taylor you’ll be fine”. This article has all the chants to know!

Eat Before You Go

The concert is LONG and usually there is a decent amount of travel time to and from the venue. I recommend eating a decent size meal before you go so you don’t feel the need to buy stadium food and waste your time and money.

Ear Protection

Especially for small children, ear protection is a must. And as I’ve gotten older, I have honestly considered ear protection at concerts. Loop Earplugs are a really cool new type of earplug that reduces noise but still keeps the music crisp and clear.

Love this and ‘Know Before You Go’ is spot on! Stockholm Eras Tour had a zero-bag policy so knowing the bag policy ahead of time was a life-saver because I was able to add biker shorts with pockets to my outfit.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is in full swing, and fans are having the time of their lives recreating fashion moods past and present as she embarks on her new world tour era. 

Whether you're a folkmore girlie or a forever Speak Now advocate, there's a Taylor style moment for everyone. In Glendale, Arizona, fans flooded Swift City by the tens of thousands, and the looks were sublime. Hamburgers and fries à la "You Need to Calm Down"? Check. An NYU graduation costume? Check. Cowboy boots and sparkly dresses aplenty? Check. 

There are still plenty of Eras Tour stops to go until August and whether you already have your tickets or have a masterminded plan to acquire them, here's all the style inspiration and advice you need for your tour outfits, straight from Swifties themselves.

Taylor's debut might not be represented much during the Eras Tour, but you can still be inspired by Taylor Swift's cowboy boot-wearing origins. For my opening night look, I recreated Taylor's first-ever red carpet outfit from the Academy of Country Music Awards: long curly hair, a handkerchief dress (mine is from Amazon ), and cowboy boots (snagged mine from Zappos, the brand Laredo .)

If handkerchief dresses aren't your thing, there's plenty of other inspiration to be found in Taylor's early years. She wore lots of white and cream colors, knee-length dresses, peasant skirts , and dramatic feminine silhouettes — and of course, some sparkles . For a more casual vibe, recreate some looks from the “Tim McGraw” music video: loose low-rise jeans, lacy tank tops, and mid-2000s style vibes galore. 

Fearless Era

The Fearless style era is usually remembered in one word: glitter. At Taylor's first stop in Glendale, the Fearless girls were out in full force in their sparkly, eye-catching silver and gold dresses, many in the fringe flapper style Taylor loved in the late 2000s.

There were also a fair amount of DIY Junior Jewels t-shirts from the “You Belong With Me” music video. You can customize the names — which on Taylor's shirts represent her IRL friends — with the friends who are joining you for the Eras Tour. Bonus points if you reuse a white tee you already own.

The other subset of the Fearless era? Romantic, flowing gowns reminiscent of the “Love Story” music video and similar looks from the timing. Taylor loves a Shakespearean homage, and if you have any Renaissance fair-esque dresses or old theatre costumes in your closet, this is the time to bring those out.

Speak now era.

Of the many memorable Speak Now -inspired outfits in Swift City, one reigned supreme: this purple mid-length halter dress with sweetheart neckline and updo from the Speak Now tour reigned supreme — just don't forget the blue “13” drawn on her right hand.

“I bought this in May of last year from Mislish , because I love Speak Now more than anything in this lifetime,” 25-year-old Shan says. (Her favorite Taylor song of all time is “Mine.") Shan attended the show with friends she met on Twitter through a Black Swifties group in 2018. “There's about eight of us tonight," she says, including her friend Day, who is decked out in pure 1989 vibes.

Don't limit yourself to tour or performance looks, however; Speak Now is one of the first eras where we get more Taylor street style, since her star was majorly on the rise. She gravitated toward more bohemian ‘fits in this era, as well as Victorian detailing. Oh, and we can’t forget the beanies.

The Red era is a great era to choose for a tour costume, as you can go either old or new Taylor and easily find comfortable outfits.

“My outfit is definitely inspired by the ‘All Too Well 10-Minute Version’ music video, I'm wearing Sadie Sink's outfit,” says Van, who attended the show with evermore fan Kathy (see below for Kathy's “Willow”-inspired costume.) Van is dressed in pure comfort food — previously owned jeans, white sneakers, a brown argyle sweater, and the iconic red scarf — an ideal look for standing for nearly three-plus hours straight. “The red scarf is from my brother's wardrobe.”

Spotted elsewhere in Swift City? Endless “Not a Lot Going on at the Moment” t-shirts, which proved prophetic for Taylor's “22” performance outfit — another easy DIY moment. 

Her street style from this era is also fairly simple to replicate: go preppy or go home. Think tailored separates, lace-striped Parisian sweaters, fitted blouses, cardigans, sundresses, and Oxfords. Oh, and don't forget your red lip.

Day (pictured above in the Speak Now Era) pulled her 1989 -inspired look straight from the 1989 World Tour stage: black crop top, purple skirt, jacket, and white sunglasses. (And a red lipstick, since by 1989 it was a Taylor signature piece.) She wasn't the only fan to pull from Taylor's pop music takeover era at the Glendale show — I saw numerous recreations of Taylor's bob and separates Grammy look, as well as her white crop top and shorts look from the tour.

1989 signified a more daring style shift for Taylor, so don't be afraid to do the same with your looks. Lean into all the crop tops you can find, in bold colorways, shimmering neons, and floral patterns. From a street style perspective, get inspired by cats, miniskirts, stockings and Oxfords, polka dots, and more.

Reputation Era

This era is for your most dramatic friend: let that brewing darkness out, baby. This one's for the people who only wear black, who consider fishnet tights a staple item, and who would willingly carry around a large stuffed animal snake at a festival.

People like… 24-year-old Alli, who lives in Salt Lake City. “I love reputation. I feel like when reputation came out, it was Taylor's angsty era, but also in my real life, I was in an angsty era," she says, a yellow stuffed animal snake around her neck. "Our worlds were colliding in a way that felt so personal to me. Reputation has made such a mark on my life.” Her black jumpsuit is from Amazon, with white paint and bedazzled gems DIY'd with her own name.

You can also go for a more toned-down look, as 19-year-old best friends Shanti and Finley did. They both wore skinny black jeans and matching newspaper print shirts — an allusion to the rumor mill that plagued Taylor before reputation dropped — and thrifted mesh and black leather accents. Top it off with a smokey eye, and you're set.

The Lover Era is all about pastels, happiness, hair dye, glittery hearts, and everything good in the world. Think daylight, think tie-dye sweaters, think falling in love. This is Taylor at some of her most adventurous and playful — dress accordingly.

For example, New Jersey natives Katherine, 28, and Anna, 27, dressed as Taylor and Katy Perry's hamburger and fries from the “We went to the mall in search of ‘Mirrorball’ or Lover -esque things, and we're like, you know what, we want to go big or go home," Anna says. "And we had Lover Fest tickets, and we were really heartbroken. What is something nobody else will do to make us really stand out? ” Katherine adds, “We did a quick search of her music video, and we were like, ‘what if we just did it?'" Big points for originality.

Phoenix, Arizona, 20-something friends Kaylee and Chloe also had Lover Fest tickets and decided to mourn their loss by wearing complementary “ME!” pastel power suits from Nasty Gal. “We've been planning it for a long time,” they say. “We wanted to embody the Lover era because we didn't get to fully enjoy it.”

Taylor in her Lover era is Taylor in love — and sometimes, when we're in love, we make interesting fashion choices. The clothes on our bodies must express the love in our hearts! For Taylor, that means lots of ruffles and floral motifs. Taylor in love asks, “Why shouldn't I wear a kaleidoscopic Versace blazer and no pants? Why shouldn't I wear a rainbow bejeweled corset?" Ankle boots, hot pants, sheer shirts, shiny things, that's the vibe here.

Folklore and Evermore Eras

Folklore and evermore both feature woodsy, flowing, cottagecore Taylor outfits — perfect for a concert or festival setting.

Siblings Pim, 23, and Poon, 21, didn't coordinate their Eras Tour look intentionally — but clearly, they share a brain. The pair wore complementary cream accented looks, looking like the chicest folklore reference. “I wanted to go for a ‘Cardigan’ music video vibe,” says Pim, who lives in New York City. She wore a sweater over a thrifted slip dress, with matching hair accessories and platform docs. Poon, who wore a creamy jacket and trousers with sneakers, laughs, “I was just going for a monochromatic moment, a little folklore -esque.” Muted colors and grays are perfect to look like you live inside the folklore filter.

Ah, the Midnights era, a fashion goldmine especially given the resurgence in '70s trends more broadly. You could likely build a Midnights album outfit from items you have around the house; simply grab some flared corduroys and a sweater visit.

Friends Dylan, 23, and Luther, 23, decided to go as “Anti-Hero” Taylors. “Dylan's favorite song on Midnights is ‘Anti-Hero,’ and we wanted to do a duo outfit,” Luther says, wearing shorts and boots from Etsy. “It's a good Taylor/bad Taylor opposites vibe.”

If you're still hell-bent on sparkles, the Midnights era is full of them — just pull a Julien Calloway and pick up the Oscar de la Renta cutout dress Taylor wore to the VMAs. But there's also a big fur coat motif, and I saw several outfits referencing her VMAs afterparty look: a blue starry Moschino minidress with a white coat. Key colors: dark blue, white, silver, and lavender. This era is all about luxe fabrics and rich color schemes. The mood is wealth and not giving a f*ck.

Be in your eras era.

If you're still stumped, try mixing and matching various eras in the ultimate chaotic homage to Taylor's style. Many Eras Tour attendees wore gold bodysuits layered with white button-downs in reference to Taylor's Lover-era AMAs performance, which also featured her album names in stark black font.

Or, you can DIY your jeans with paint and markers in tribute to all of Taylor's album eras since sometimes it's too hard to pick just one. 

These two friends — both named Marissa — traveled from North Carolina to Glendale for the show, and Marissa's (left) grandmother helped her make a dress that compiles several of all the Taylor eras and even uses Taylor's 1989 polaroids as a band around her waist. “There's a base dress underneath from Girl Tribe in North Carolina,” she says, “and then my grandmother created the top layer by layer.”

Whichever era you choose, keep in mind your comfort level — take it from someone who stood in her sock feet for two and a half hours, cowboy boots tucked under her seat.

What to Wear to Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, Broken Down by Era

Whether you duked it out with Ticketmaster for tickets or are just going as a very lucky plus-one, you need an outfit that matches the vibe.

If you’re anything like team Marie Claire, you’ve been waiting for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour from the minute that it was announced. And whether you duked it out with Ticketmaster for tickets or are just going as a very lucky plus-one, you need an outfit that matches the vibe. Or, should I say, matches the eras of Swift’s music. 

As a fan who got to attend the show in Boston recently, I was amazed at the wide array of looks at my show. Fans were decked out in Reputation -era snake print, glitter-encrusted face paint inspired by Swift's Lovers album cover, and plenty of DIY’d T-shirts from her Speak Now days. The bottom line? The looks varied widely, proving that you can truly go in any direction when picking your outfit for the Eras tour.

I love getting dressed up for concerts, but I also want to make sure that I can wear my new pieces again and again. It was a question I asked myself over and over while shopping for my own Eras Tour ensemble: Is the look good for me for right now, or good for me forever? In the end, I opted for a bedazzled mesh dress that I could also wear again on a night out over jeans or a slip dress . For the show, I opted to style it over a bodysuit for added coverage. 

If you’re heading to the show this summer, there are a few key things to keep in mind, no matter what you wear. The show is long—five hours from the beginning of the opening act to the end of Swift’s set!—so you’ll want to wear comfortable clothing. Plus, if you’re the kind of fan who spends the majority of the concert jumping and dancing like you’re alone in your bedroom, you’ll want to wear something that you don’t have to worry about adjusting. Comfortable footwear is a must, so make sure that your new shoes don’t require breaking in before you go. Finally, the temperature tends to drop at night—especially if you’re at one of Swift’s rainier shows—so packing waterproof layers in your stadium-approved clear bag is key. (I wish I had packed a sweater.)

Ahead, I rounded up a selection of pieces for you to wear to the Eras Tour, broken down by Era. I’ve tried to think of everything: the shoes I’ve selected are known for being comfortable from the first wear. The dresses are comfortable to both sit and move around in. The jackets add warmth when you need them. Plus, many of the pieces below fall in line with some of summer 2023's biggest fashion trends . 

Taylor Swift's Debut Album Era

If you’re dying for a debut self-titled album Secret Song at your show, wear something that harkens back to Swift’s first-ever era. This time in her career was defined by pastel blue and green shades, her iconic curling-iron curls, and her country twang. Consider cowboy boots and sweet tulle skirts. 

Taylor Swift's 'Fearless' Era

Prefer gold to silver? The Fearless era is for you. This album had it all: Fireworks! A sparkly gold guitar! A gold fringed dress! More was more. To make it work, incorporate gold into your look via a pair of trendy sneakers , a going-out top in the hue, or by wearing a pair of viral gold jeans.     

Taylor Swift's 'Speak Now' Era

Speak Now was defined by one color and one color only: A rich purple. It's the color Swift is wearing on the cover of the album, and it's the shade that has stayed attached to the record ever since. Sweet midi dresses and shoes that come in the same shade are go-tos for this era. 

Taylor Swift's 'Red' Era

Red makes for an easy outfit because it only requires that you wear one color—red. Swift also went slightly preppy while on tour for the album, opting for a classic Breton striped shirt and red high-waisted denim . No matter which outfit vibe you choose, don’t forget your heart-shaped sunglasses. 

Taylor Swift's '1989' Era

1989 is one of the more unique albums in Swift’s discography regarding her looks. While she repped matching sets on tour for the album, she's opted for orange ensembles while on the current Eras Tour.

Taylor Swift's 'Reputation' Era

My personal favorite era as someone who loves to wear all-black, Reputation- inspired outfits are perfect for those who prefer a little drama. From the actual sheer mesh dress I wore to my own concert to a statement-making choker necklace priced at under $50, this era is all about going all-out. 

Taylor Swift's 'Lover' Era

If you love playing with color, consider a Lover- era ensemble for your concert. The key colors for this era were bright Barbiecore pink and rich blue, but pastel shades like baby pink and lavender —a trending color for 2023—were also popular. Go all-out with a heart-shaped stencil around your eye, or heart-shaped earrings. 

Taylor Swift's 'Folklore' Era

Folklore was a departure from the previous maximalist Lover era. The aesthetic for the album was a combination of woodland fairy and cottagecore. On-stage, this translates to flowing summer dresses in muted shades like olive green. IRL, pair lacy layers with chunky cardigans and sweet Mary Jane shoes.

Taylor Swift's 'Evermore' Era

Cozy-core fans, the Evermore era is for you. Taylor’s second pandemic album was full of woodland references but, unlike its predecessor, the vibe this time around was very much fall-inspired. Flannel dresses, comfy Birkenstock sandals, and other comfy pieces reign supreme. Shades to highlight include marigold yellow and burnt red. 

Taylor Swift's 'Midnights' Era

Good thing silver everything is one of 2023’s biggest trends—Taylor is obsessed with the shade for her Midnights era. Her looks from this time in her career are about metallics , drama, and deep shades like navy blue and fushia. If you can’t stop listening to “Karma” or You’re On Your Own Kid,” This one is for you.

Taylor's self-titled first album in 2006 was impossibly romantic, a celebration of all things country. It goes to follow that her style at that time was, too. When Swift released her second album Fearless in 2008, her looks didn't shift from her high school fashion significantly, but she did begin to opt for a little more glitz, glam, and sequins. Taylor Swift is currently in Europe with her record-breaking “ The Eras Tour,” which will pass through France, Sweden, Portugal, Spain, the U.K., Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Poland and Austria.

During the three-hour concerts, Swift takes the stage in multiple outfits . Her tour wardrobe includes pieces from Versace, Zuhair Murad, Vivienne Westwood, Roberto Cavalli, Nicole + Felicia Couture, Alberta Ferretti and other designers. See the photos below.

“The Eras Tour” began on March 17 in Glendale, Ariz., and it has since traveled through the U.S., South America and Australia. In August, Swift added 15 new dates in the U.S., bringing her total shows to 146 across five continents. The tour features a set list of 44 songs divided into 10 eras of her career.

In October, Swift brought her tour to the movie theaters . The singer released a film rendering of her stadium tour in partnership with AMC Theaters.

TAYLOR SWIFT (DEBUT)

Speak Now has got to be Taylor's most *enchanting* era, so make tulle and babydoll dresses the priority. Oh, and if there's one thing you do – make sure you're in H2T purple. Sparks are defo gonna fly...

Swifties know that when Rep dropped, Taylor wiped her socials and posted a snake pic. And judging by her recent reptilian   looks, we predict it'll be the next (Taylor's Version) to be released...  So basically, snake print is the one if you're dressing for this era. What 200 Swifties Wore to an Eras Show

Sometimes, a place that draws a specific kind of crowd — from a sample sale to an office lunch spot — can yield a wealth of shopping intel. What are these like-minded people all into right now? What sneakers are they wearing? What is that pants brand? For the inaugural edition of People Watching, we posted up at Penn Station ahead of Taylor Swift’s first Eras tour show at MetLife Stadium.

Wherever Taylor Swift’s Eras tour goes, a flurry of sequins follows. But what color sequins? And for which era? And what about all the cowboy boots? The tour made a three-night stop in town during Memorial Day weekend, so on Friday, May 26, I headed to Penn Station, hoping to glean some insight from the crush of concertgoers commuting to MetLife Stadium via NJ Transit. The show’s official start time was 6:30 p.m., so I arrived at the atrium at 4 and lingered among Swifties excitedly checking their phones and outfits, chatting with many of them about their knee-high cowboy boots, Shein crop tops, and the Advil and hair ties stuffed into their clear stadium bags. Here’s what I learned.

The unofficial Eras tour uniform is, obviously, a fun dress + cowboy boots

The combination leaves lots of room for interpretation, depending on which era they wanted to rep. Concertgoers went Fearless glam in fringed flapper dresses; Reputation edgy in tight leather; Lover romantic in puffy organza; and Folklore cottagecore in corseted Renaissance looks. This dreamy Selkie number I saw someone wearing was definitely a nod to Lover .

Final sequins + sparkles count: 67

From sequined dresses to shimmery eye shadow, pretty much every Swiftie was sporting some sort of sparkle. I counted nearly 70 people wearing rhinestones, sequins, or glitter, and I probably missed a lot more. “My friend who went to the Atlanta concert told me she felt left out because she didn’t have sparkles on, so she told me to make sure my outfit had them,” said one fan. These emerald sequined shorts worn by another were a reference to Swift’s serpentine Reputation era.

Final rainbow count: 11

Most memorable was this rainbow-fringe jacket that can pull double duty for Pride.

Final cowboy-boot count: 34

I saw several people wearing this tall white pair.

Though fans with floor tickets were wearing sneakers

Among those planning to fight their way to the front pit, white sneakers overwhelmingly won out. “Nah, nah to the cowboy boots,” said one fan. “We’re about to go into battle. Sneakers only.” I noticed both Nike AF1s and Vejas in the crowd.

I saw two people in this Shein top

It comes in 12 colors, but both had it in hot pink.

Colorful jumpsuits abounded

Especially in shades of pink and purple. Someone wearing a lilac Big Bud Press jumpsuit immediately caught my eye, since I own the same one.

Finishing touches included hats and lots of butterflies …

I saw a lot of cowboy hats with what I’ll call a “fun flair,” like this pink one with feathers — and it comes with heart sunglasses, another staple in the crowd. There were also lots of classic black fedoras from the Red era and countless butterfly clips and accessories (a recurring motif for Swift ).

… plus full sleeves of DIY friendship bracelets

Many fans bought bead kits online and crafted bracelets in the weeks before the show. A sampling of what I saw: “GAYLOR,” “WOULDA COULDA SHOULDA,” “KARMA IS A GOD,” “SCREAMING CRYING,” “SPEAK NOW (TV),” “OUR SONG,” “NYC ERA,” “I’M ON SOME NEW SHIT,” “BETTER THAN REVENGE,” “SUPERSTAR,” “BAD BLOOD,” “F JOHN MAYER,” “F’D IN THE HEAD,” “BITCH NOT A BALLER,” “CHECKMATE,” “SEXY BABY.”

Lover was the most represented album …

“I feel like the Lover era is the easiest to re-create with things you already have, because it’s just bright colors and sequins,” one person told me. Another paired rhinestone tights with this simple Lover necklace.

… closely followed by Midnights

“I went for a little celestial moment,” said one fan about her blue velvet top and moon-and-star accessories.

The best clear bags had a chain strap

I saw dozens of people carrying this one, which looks more like a purse but aligns with clear-bags-only stadium guidelines. Clear backpacks and cross-bodies were also very well represented (fanny packs less so).

In their clear bags, people were bringing:

Male Swifties wore pastel button-downs

Lots of pink, lavender, and sky blue, paired with white shorts or overalls.

Dillydalliers had to settle for whatever would ship quickly from Amazon

Multiple people I talked to ended up scrambling because the products they ordered didn’t arrive in time for the concert, or they just procrastinated too long, so they had to grab something last minute, like this generic lyric shirt.

I saw a lot of “ Not a Lot Going on at the Moment ” shirts

It was an ironic pronouncement for one fan, who recently had a baby.

Are you ready for it? Taylor Swift ‘s Eras Tour is finally here.

The 52-date trek kicks off Friday night in Glendale, Ariz., at State Farm Stadium with openers Gayle and Paramore. This marks Swift’s first tour since the Reputation Stadium Tour in 2018, as her 2020 Lover Fest was canceled before it even began due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, Swift has released three studio albums — “Folklore” and “Evermore” in 2020 and “Midnights” in October 2022 — in addition to re-recording “Fearless” and “Red” (which both came with bonus tracks) in 2021.

Gibson reveals Taylor Swift’s go-to guitars during her Eras tour and hopes for a signature model

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour has had a massive cultural and economic impact worldwide. With 149 shows across five continents, Swift's gargantuan trek has become the highest-grossing tour in history, setting trends, instigating debates, breaking records, and inspiring a once-in-a-generation cultural moment.

In a poll by UK guitar retailer guitarguitar, the pop star was also voted the eighth best guitarist of the last two decades , highlighting her seismic impact in the guitar world, especially among millennials and Gen Z. Her influence in this sphere became even more apparent when the internet was abuzz with theories about the color of one of her Eras tour Gibson acoustics (is it purple, or is it pink?).

Both camps were right – to some degree. “There were indeed two distinct colors made for her Eras tour, a dusty pink and a light lavender, so she has one of each,” confirms Mat Koehler, Vice President of Product at Gibson.

“We made a pastel pink one with a matching headstock and unique body artwork for her Lover tour. It was a custom mixed color and the target was a dusty pink with some purple undertones. That is what we used for her Eras pink as well. But we did other pastel colors for her including a light lavender finish.”

While Swift was previously associated with Taylor acoustics, she had flirted with Gibsons on various occasions throughout her illustrious career. These include iconic moments like her pivotal Reputation tour, which fans describe as her “comeback era”, and 2019’s intimate NPR Tiny Desk concert, which showcased her songwriting prowess.

However, the Eras Tour cemented Gibson as her guitar brand of choice, a move Koehler says “continues the legacy of hugely influential Gibson players like Maybelle Carter and Sister Rosetta Tharpe .”

One model, in particular, has proved to be a mainstay in her rotating roster of instruments and eras. “Taylor favors a fairly unique Gibson model – a J-180 acoustic with a long scale length,” says Koehler. “The J-180 is famous for its striking star inlays, and it has been played by everyone from the Everly Brothers to Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day.”

“Additionally, the long scale length of the J-180 adds power and presence to be able to cut through a mix, which is especially useful when playing live on stage. I can't speak for her reasons, but my guess is that it has the perfect balance of style, comfort, fit, and projection for her playing.”

In addition to the J-180, of which Swift has several in different finishes, she is also currently using a red crystal-studded Gibson J-45, a wine red J-45, an aged Murphy Lab 1960 Hummingbird, and a red crystal-studded Les Paul.

But how much personal input does Swift have on each guitar? “We work with her team, who execute her vision down to the smallest details,” reveals Koehler. “She hasn't been to see us in Nashville yet, but we would love to show her the Gibson Garage, and our historic archives and vault. There’s so much history behind the brand which we know she would love.”

Despite Swift's close relationship with Gibson, we have yet to see a Taylor Swift signature model. Epiphone's J-180 LS is similar to what she's been using on tour and deemed the closest fans can get to a signature guitar , at least for now.

Koehler, however, says that Gibson “would love to have a Taylor Swift signature model”. He also adds that the “J-180 has long been the choice of music royalty,” so if Swift ever decides to add a signature guitar to her sprawling empire, it would be one of the models in contention.

Considering her impact on whole countries' economies and institutions like the NFL , a Taylor Swift signature would, for certain, capture more eyeballs and boost Gibson's reputation in a market facing increasing competition, something Koehler and the team are very much aware of.

“We're witnessing history in the same way that the Beatles changed the music industry in the early 1960s. Taylor is a tour de force, both in performance and in her prolific and impactful songwriting craft,” he asserts.

“Her playing Gibson means the world to us. I think of our team and all the talented craftspeople working on her guitars who share so much pride in not only what we do, but what Taylor has done.”

It’s a 'Love Story': Consumers to spend nearly £1bn attending Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour

New data from Barclays reveals that consumers are predicted to spend £997m 1 attending Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated Eras Tour, with Swifties forking out £848 per person on average to see their idol at one of the 15 UK tour dates.

The Swiftonomics report shows that spending by The Lucky One s attending a tour date is expected to be more than 12 times the average cost of a UK night out (£67) 2 , more than twice the amount spent attending UK-based weddings (£398) 3 , and even higher than the cost of a UK-based stag or hen do (£779) 4 . 

Brits never go out of Style

After tickets, fans will spend the most on accommodation (£121), with other notable costs including travel (£111) and clothing for the big event (£56), with almost a fifth (18 per cent) buying a new outfit especially for the concert.

Meanwhile, £79 is expected to be spent on official merchandise at the tour stops in London, Liverpool, Edinburgh and Cardiff, as well as £59 on a pre-concert meal, boosting sales at restaurants near the tour’s venues.

Adding up the total spending for Brits on the UK leg alone – that’s 1.2 million tickets over 15 nights and four stadiums at capacity, with merchandise, outfits, food, accommodation, travel and more – the Eras Tour is expected to bring in almost £1 billion (£997m) to the UK’s experience economy.

Fans splash out on Bejeweled VIP tickets

The average amount spent on an Eras Tour ticket is £206, yet for 14 per cent of fans, including those who purchased VIP ticket packages with premium seating and exclusive merchandise, the total exceeds £400.

The new figures come after Barclays Consumer Spend data revealed a surge in consumer spending during the pre-release window for the Eras Tour last July – with entertainment jumping 15.8 per cent compared to July 2022. Across the whole of 2023, the entertainment sector (up 7.5 per cent) was also boosted by the release of ticket sales for major events including the Eurovision Song Contest and Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ tour, with spending on live shows and concerts up 8.6 per cent year-on-year overall.

So Long, London – UK Swifties prepared to travel far and wide

One in four (26 per cent) Fearless fans say they had to or will have to travel to a different city in order to attend the Eras Tour, while one in five (19 per cent) intend to see Swift perform in mainland Europe instead of the UK – possibly due to ticket availability, cheaper travel and accommodation costs, or simply so that they can combine the concert with holiday or city break.

Long Live the pre-show excitement

As eager fans wait to attend the live show, 28 per cent have watched or plan to watch the film of the Eras Tour, while nearly one in 10 (8 per cent) is either planning to host or attend a Taylor Swift-themed party before or after her show. In addition, 7 per cent have even bought Taylor Swift-themed decorations to Dress up their house in Style .

Swifties have been swotting up by listening to Timeless classics as well as learning the lyrics to more recent hits. One in five (21 per cent) has bought the album ‘Midnights’, and one in six (15 per cent) pre-ordered the latest album ‘Tortured Poets Department’ prior to its release. A further one in six (14 per cent) is so invested in Swift’s Love Story that they have even started listening to Travis Kelce’s podcast ‘New Heights’, and the same proportion (14 per cent) admit to having streamed American Football games because Taylor was in the crowd.

Dr Peter Brooks, Chief Behavioural Scientist at Barclays, said: “Whoever came up with the phrase “money can’t buy happiness” clearly wasn’t a Swiftie. There’s growing evidence that spending on experiences boosts happiness and well-being more so than purchasing physical items, especially if that experience is shared with friends and loved ones.

“When it comes to cultural icons like Taylor Swift – like we saw with Elvis and Beatlemania in the 50s and 60s – supporters have such a strong connection to the artist and to the rest of the fandom that the desire to spend becomes even more powerful. For non-fans, £848 may seem like an enormous amount to splash out on a concert – but for Eras Tour ticketholders, every pound they spend is an investment in the memories they’ll create.”
