Hailing from Huntington Beach, California, US, Avenged Sevenfold are a five-piece metalcore outfit who found mainstream success with their blend of metal, punk-pop and post hardcore that showcased their impressive musicianship.
The band came together in 1999, having formed in high school, quickly developing their sound and releasing their debut album, "Sounding the Seventh Trumpet" in 2001. Going by their aliases M. Shadows (vocals), Zacky Vengeance (guitar), Synester Gates (guitar, Johnny Christ (bass) and The Reverend, Avenged Sevenfold soon moved from Goodlife Records to the label, Hopeless, beginning work on their second record. Released in 2003, "Waking the Fallen" arrived to critical acclaim, helping to build hype around the band which drew the attention of major label, Warner Bros.
With an aggressive, punk sound that was full of melodic harmonies from their dual guitar attack, their debut for Warner Bros., "City of Evil," was to be their breakthrough album, finding them mainstream success after its June 2005 release. The album peaked at number 30 on Billboard's Top 200, bolstered by the popularity of the single, "Bat Country." The band's success was celebrated after being awarded the award for 'Best New Artist' at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards.
Avenged Sevenfold quickly returned to the studio to work on their fourth record, the grittier and harder-edged self-titled release, which peaked at number four on the Billboard Top 200 after appearing in October 2007. Three singles from the record also broke into the top five of the UK charts, with the band quickly becoming global stars and embarking on a number of tours in support of the release.
In 2009, Jimmy "The Reverend" Sullivan, the band's long time drummer, tragically died, with the remaining members considering disbanding. However, they continued, finding a replacement in Mike Portnoy, formerly of Dream Theater, releasing "Nightmare" in 2010. It was several years before they returned with a new full length, 2013's "Hail to the King," which again brought them commercial success, reaching the number one spot on the Billboard 200 and the UK Album Chart.
Live reviews
A friend of mine tagged me in the Avenged Sevenfold's post about them coming to Singapore and I absolutely lost it. I couldn't believe they were finally coming after so long. It had been 3 years and I missed the last chance due to my final exams. I was definitely not going to miss them this time. The moment my dad got home from work, I booked my tickets.
I went with 8 of my other friends and we were in the line by 9 am, when the concert was at 7:30 pm. It was worth every second of the wait. The crowd was absolutely insane, the band was absolutely marvelous and Synyster Gates, like always, was the God of guitars! There was a mosh pit, there was adrenaline and then there was M. Shadows. His voice filling the room like of an angel singing in the heavens.
As their 'This Means War' started, one of my personal favourite, the crowds' fist pumped back and forth right at the beat and everyone was one, moving along to the rhythm of music created by a band we all loved.
No one should miss an Avenged Sevenfold concert. It's one In a lifetime experience. Moreover, who knows, you might catch Syn's autographed pick. I was lucky, I got 2! So go. Go to the concert. And never say no to it. Cheers.

Avenged Sevenfold always delivers high energy, blow-your-ear-drums-out performances. If you like loud, you will love an A7X show.
I saw them last summer at the Orion Music Festival and was blown away. A lot of the time at a festival you lose some sound since it is outside, but Avenged Sevenfold must have found a new volume level for their amps, because it was louder than some shows that I have been to in small concert halls!
Lead singer M. Shadows was constantly prowling around the stage, shouting at the audience, and keeping the energy up. A lot of people in the crowd did not seem to be die-hard Avenged Sevenfold fans when the show started (which I guess is not uncommon for large festivals), but within a few minutes, everyone was rocking together. With the heavy guitars and smashing drums, it was hard not to get up and jump around and mosh together.
I think I danced or jumped for the entire show, and I was completely spent afterwards. There never seemed to be a quiet moment to catch my breath, which was exhilarating. I had an absolute blast at this show and would never hesitate to go see these guys again. Their live performance is second to none.
What an amazing live performance. They kept the audience engaged the entire time. I'm not their biggest fan but there was a few songs that I wish had been on the set list that weren't. Then again, that's just my preference. Regardless, Matt has an amazing voice and I was blown away. The only thing that bothered me was that the sound mix seemed a bit off which sucks because that's obviously not the band's fault. At first the bass was so low that anytime the guitars started playing harmonies the sound got really thin/empty. Also I thought that Synyster was playing sloppily (which I would have been extremely surprised if that was the case) because some parts in his solos seemed inaudible but I finally realized that the guitars were getting smothered in the mix. I only notice this stuff because I play in a band and do live shows myself so it probably didn't bother too many people besides me. Overall, 10/10 live performance, and I would totally go see them again. (Hopefully at another venue)
Avenged Sevenfold was pretty awesome! Their new album was a change in direction from the prior ones, I would say, being more melodic than Nightmare or especially their earlier works. Two great songs were Hail to the King and Shepherd of Fire, which had amazing special effects as well.
The crowd was really alive, and Matt Shadows was really interactive too. The band was presented with two flags during the concert: the Swedish one, and one with the band's Deathbat on it. The most memorable part for me was when the entire arena shouted "Hail!" during Hail to the King - it really made you shiver, even though the fires on stage neutralized it some. Obviously, though, they played plenty of songs from their older albums as well - crowd favorites were probably Almost Easy and A little Peace of Heaven, two of their most successful songs outside the arena too.
The concert was FUCKING amazing! The crowd was so loud, M. Shadows were singing perfectly, as always...They played all of the best songs they have ever made, and one song, So Far Away, in loving memory of The Rev.
My favourite moment was when I screamed to M.Shadows: I love you, he looked me in the eyes and said: I love you too! It was unbelievable!!!! Everyone screamed and I got so happy... Avenged Sevenfold show how much they care about their fans, even on the stage. They look at us, they smile at us and they talk about how amazing the crowd and their fans are.
To sum it up, it was the best night in my entire life, and I can't wait until next concert <3 -Lilly
Well, I'm not sure which show I'm supposed to review, so I'll do both. I saw them on Friday at shoreline amphitheater and then on Monday at golden one center. For the 1st show we had lawn tickets, it was still good. This was my 6th time seeing them. It was my 13 year old son's 1st concert. They always put on an excellent show.
Mondays show was the best one I've been to,my 7th time seeing them , because we were right up front on the floor. It was awesome. The crowd gets pretty aggressive, but I already knew that. I ended up being pulled out from security for trying to break up a fight, so that wasn't fun, but nothing against the band, they rocked.
That show, in SLC Utah, was phenomenal. They're just amazing people who worked so hard and got where they deserve to be. I enjoyed watching the result of their hard work, and I plan to watch more shows that come around. I want to see them succeed more and accomplish more stuff in the future. They're such great people, amazing artists, great role models for aspiring musicians everywhere, and (by the twitter videos) they're amazing parents. I'll always be a death bat, not only for their music but for them as human beings. God Damn.
The Showcase for A7X is always about the catchy songs the band put through. It was a back to back of smashing hits and the crowd grow crazy just by listening to the opening riffs. The performace A7X is energetic. The chemistry between the individuals in the group is amazing as they power up each other without fail. The only problem was that the vocal did not break through the screaming crowd. Yeah the crowd were singing along and it was pretty cool but I went there to listen to M Shadow. Overall it was a great show.
Overall an amazing show.
InFlames were great when playing, but awkward in between songs when talking to the crow.
Disturbed knocked it out of the park 110%, so much pyro and flames. Simply amazing performance.
A7X were good when they played their old material. I understand they've launched a new album and title track The Stage is good, but the rest of the album is the worst material they have ever done IMHO. They played 5/6 songs from the new album and the atmosphere just died when this occurred.

Avenged Sevenfold announce 2024 North American tour with Poppy and Sullivan King
Avenged Sevenfold are taking Life Is But A Dream… back out across North America in March, with support coming from Poppy and Sullivan King.
Avenged Sevenfold have announced a spring 2024 tour of North America – the third leg of their Life Is But A Dream… run.
The metal heroes will be joined by a very cool supporting cast of Poppy and Sullivan King for these March shows. General sale tickets are available from this Friday, December 1 at 10am, though the band’s Deathbats Club and TicketPass system will be going live from today (Tuesday, November 28) at 10pm ET.
“TicketPass will by no means cost anyone any money, you won’t have to get involved in cryptocurrency, you won’t have to do any of these things that people feel uncomfortable with, and the token that we’re going to be using is on the Polygon network – an environmentally-friendly blockchain,” explains frontman M. Shadows. “We want to roll something out to the rest of our fanbase without them having to opt into a full fan club experience that is strictly for tickets and ensuring our fans get the best tickets they desire first.
“At the end of the day, we want to know your feedback on if this worked well for you, and we will take notes and mold this for you. Look at this as a frequent flier miles type of program – with Avenged Sevenfold, we will be breaking these passes into ‘tiers’ over time and rewarding the people who have been participating the most in our A7X ecosystem (with merchandise, listening habits, music consumption, live events, and other metrics).”

Avenged Sevenfold play live debuts, deep cuts and one long-lost classic at first 2024 concert
Arena-metal crew Avenged Sevenfold started their 2024 Life Is But A Dream… tour in Buffalo, New York, this week
Avenged Sevenfold started their 2024 Life Is But A Dream… tour in Buffalo, New York’s Keybank Center on Wednesday (March 6) and played a setlist featuring rarities and live debuts.
Along with five songs from new album Life Is But A Dream… , the California arena-metal quintet performed Roman Sky , a cut from 2016’s The Stage that had never been played in public before.
Cosmic , from Life Is But A Dream… , also received its live debut at the concert. It joined four other, previously played songs from the album on the setlist: Game Over , Mattel , Nobody and We Love You .
Blinded In Chains , a deep cut from City Of Evil (2005), was performed for the first time since 2006, while Save Me , from Nightmare (2010), got its first airing in 13 years.
One of the band’s biggest singles also got unearthed. Hail To The King song Shepherd Of Fire was busted out for the first time since 2018.
Footage from the concert has been embedded below, along with the full setlist.
Avenged Sevenfold are still touring North America, continuing with a concert at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio, tomorrow (March 9). The band will conclude their trek of the continent on March 31.

Following a show in Jakarta, Indonesia, on May 25, Avenged Sevenfold will then tour Europe, playing festivals and arenas. The stops include a headline performance at Download festival, alongside fellow headliners Fall Out Boy and Queens Of The Stone Age.
Life Is But A Dream… was released last year and received critical acclaim. Metal Hammer journalist Dave Everley gave the record a glowing four-and-a-half-star review .
“Yes, Life Is But A Dream… is indulgent. Of course it is,” Everley wrote. “A lot of people won’t want to come along for the ride, and how this stuff is going to fit alongside their older material live is anyone’s guess.
“But Avenged Sevenfold have scaled the mountain and looked out over all that surrounds them, then plunged headfirst into the void, not knowing where, when or even if they’ll land. What kind of madness is this? The very best kind.”
The full list of Avenged Sevenfold’s confirmed 2024 tour dates is below. Tickets are available on the band’s website.

Avenged Sevenfold Kick Off 2024 ‘Life Is But a Dream’ Tour – Setlist, Photos + Video
Avenged Sevenfold have officially started their 2024 touring with a kickoff show Wednesday night (March 6) at Buffalo's Keybank Center.
Opening night brought a few surprises, including two live debuts as well as three additional songs that hadn't been performed by the band in quite some time.
The group used their opening night to give "Roman Sky" its live debut about midway through the band's set. Then, to finish out the evening, they performed the song "Cosmic" live for the first time as their encore.
In addition, "Shepherd of Fire" found its way into the set for the first time since 2018, and the group went even deeper trotting out "Blinded in Chains" (first time since 2006 and first time with Brooks Wackerman on drums) and "Save Me" (which hadn't been performed since 2011 and also was a Wackerman first).
Avenged Sevenfold are being hailed for their boundary-pushing 2023 album, Life Is But a Dream , and the new tour gives the band a platform to share those songs live. This current tour run spans 30 dates in total.

FALLING IN REVERSE Announces New Album 'Popular Monster', Summer 2024 U.S. Headline Tour
FALLING IN REVERSE make anthems that provoke and inspire. Unnervingly ahead of the pack and yet always decisively right on time, their mix of bombastic declarations and intimate confessions connect with diverse crowds worldwide. The rule-breaking, genre-busting, hellraising band delivers raw emotion with double and triple entendre like Molotov cocktails thrown at pop culture.
Since 2017, the band has continued to explode by leaps and bounds. The catalog has clocked billions of streams, several gold and platinum certifications, recognition from top tier press such as Pitchfork , Billboard , The New York Times and Forbes , and several No. 1 radio singles.
FALLING IN REVERSE has announced its new album — and first since 2017's "Coming Home" — "Popular Monster" . It arrives on July 26 via Epitaph Records . Additionally, the band has shared the video for the new single "Ronald (Feat. Tech N9ne And Alex Terrible)" . Watch it below
The two-times-platinum smash "Popular Monster" and the album of the same name couldn't have come from anyone else but Ronnie Radke , who produced the album alongside Tyler Smith . Both Kerrang! and Revolver magazine counted the charismatic Las Vegas-born frontman and bandleader among "the greatest living rock stars." The album arrives with several RIAA -certified singles, which have been released over time since 2018. "Popular Monster" is certified two times platinum. while "Zombified" , "Voices In My Head" and "Watching The World Burn" are all certified gold.

"Popular Monster" is a defiant statement and triumphant victory for singer, songwriter, bandleader, and provocateur Ronnie Radke , who invented FALLING IN REVERSE inside a prison cell.
Radke fills the fifth full-length from FALLING IN REVERSE with invincible and irresistible songs that resonate across generations and genres. Co-produced with longtime collaborator Tyler Smyth ( I PREVAIL , LIGHTS ), "Popular Monster" is full of confessional angst, bravado, and clever wordplay.
Ronnie formed a series of pop-punk bands in Las Vegas as a teenager, culminating in the creation of ESCAPE THE FATE . The metalcore group's meteoric rise coincided with the singer's spiral into addiction. By the time he was sentenced to two years in prison, the band he started had moved on without him. Some fans, critics, and industry types figured his story would end there.
They were very wrong.
The gold-certified debut album from FALLING IN REVERSE , "The Drug In Me Is You" (2011),arrived less than two years after Ronnie 's release. Thanks to his formative fascinations with metal, punk, and hip-hop, he almost single-handedly revived rap rock with the ambitious "Fashionably Late" (2013). "Just Like You" (2015),debuted in the Top 5 on the US Rock chart. The grungy and atmospheric "Coming Home" (2017) demonstrated yet another adventurous side of Radke 's self-expression.
"Losing My Mind" and "Losing My Life" surprised the so-called "scene" all over again in 2018 when he became the first of his peers to swerve from the album format to standalone singles. "Drugs" explored the American substance abuse epidemic and channeled Ronnie 's own heartbreak.
The massive "Popular Monster" became Ronnie 's first No. 1 song on the radio and his first platinum single less than two years after its release. It was also the first No. 1 song on Billboard 's inaugural Hot Hard Rock Songs chart, which considers airplay, streaming, and downloads. "Popular Monster" eventually went double platinum in the US and triple platinum platinum in Australia. "Zombified" and "Voices In My Head" went to No. 1 back-to-back. "Voices In My Head" was also the No. 1 Song of 2022 at SiriusXM 's Octane . The unconventional, caustic, and super heavy "Watch The World Burn" dominated rock radio in 2023 and improbably became his first Billboard Hot 100 song.
As with the top-notch producers and directors Ronnie has hired to help execute his vision, he'd regularly surrounded himself with incredible live players, resulting in unforgettable performances with various lineups over the years. Radke owns the stage, whether taking the Warped Tour mantle held by MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE , AVENGED SEVENFOLD and FALL OUT BOY in the tour's final years, performing in prominent spots on every major rock festival, or on massive headlining treks.
"Popular Monster" , the album, marks another chapter in the ongoing story of an artist who continually beats the odds, surmounting obstacles (and adversaries) both within and without.
" Radke stands as one of this generation's most revered rock frontmen," wrote the esteemed Forbes magazine in a 2020 profile. "And maybe even one of the scene's last true rockstars."
