DAY 2 BERLIN (Meals on Board/Lunch)
Upon arrival, embark on a tour of Berlin, the heart of Germany. See the site
of the Berlin Wall at East Side Gallery, an open-air museum with a section of
the wall covered by approximately 106 paintings from all over the world in a
memorial for freedom. Continue your tour to get a grand view of
Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, and Reichstag building which
was built in the 19th century in Italian Renaissance style and comprises a
redesigned glass dome. In the middle of the city, you will see the Victory
Column in Tiergarten, the famous park where many Berliners spend their
time.
DAY 3 BERLIN – DRESDEN – PRAGUE
(Breakfast/Pork Knuckle Lunch/Dinner)
After breakfast, travel to Dresden, the most beautiful city in Germany.
Dresden is located on the left bank of Elbe River at a graceful river bend.
Despite being damaged during the devastating bombing campaign of World
War II, the old part of the city has since been restored and regained its beauty.
Feast on a pork knuckle lunch before you continue your journey to Prague,
the administrative, cultural, business and industrial centre of Czech Republic.
Built along Vltava River, Prague is also one of the most beautifully preserved
cities in Europe.
DAY 4 PRAGUE (Breakfast/Lunch)
Begin your tour of Prague with Prague Castle, St Vitus Cathedral, Golden
Lane and the famous Wenceslas Square, which is the hub of cultural, social
and business activities in Prague. Not to be missed is the Astronomical
Clock, where a crowd gathers at the start of every hour to admire the
procession of the Apostles and other allegorical figures. Take a stroll on the
medieval Charles Bridge, the symbol of the city of Prague and admire the
baroque statues that decorate both sides of the bridge. After lunch, spend
your day at leisure to explore this historical city further.
DAY 5 PRAGUE – KRAKOW (Breakfast/Dinner)
Journey into another part of Polish history and see the charming town of
Krakow, the old capital of Poland. It is a multi-faceted modern city filled with
medieval old towns and horse-drawn carts.
DAY 6 KRAKOW (Breakfast/Lunch)
Today, travel to the west of Krakow in southern Poland to visit Auschwitz
Concentration Camp, which serves as a chilling reminder of the Holocaust
during World War II. Thereafter, return to Krakow to continue your sightseeing
tour. The tallest structures on Krakow's skyline are not skyscrapers but the
spires of old churches. Historical buildings, museums and churches also flank
the Main Market Square. One of your photo stops will be the Jewish quarter,
where the movie “Schindler’s List” was filmed. You will also get to visit the
courtyard of the Royal Castle at Wawel hill. At the Church of Virgin Mary,
hear a trumpeter play from the tower window on the hour. If time permits, visit
Jagiellonian University, one of the first universities in Europe.
DAY 7 KRAKOW – SLOVAKIA – BUDAPEST
(Breakfast/Hungarian Folklore Dinner)
Travel across the Tatra region to Slovakia for a short stop before heading to Budapest, capital of Hungary. You
will discover that Hungarian art and architecture are a mix of Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque and Art Nouveau
influences. Hungary’s rich musical background ranges from the rhapsodies of Franz Liszt and the operas of
Ferenc Erkel to gypsy and folk music. Tonight, enjoy a traditional Hungarian folklore dinner.
DAY 8 BUDAPEST (Breakfast/Lunch)
This morning, explore Budapest, the administrative, business and cultural centre of Hungary. The Castle District
is the premier destination for visitors and contains some of Budapest's most important monuments and museums.
The main sights of the twin cities of Buda and Pest include Heroes’ Square, Fisherman’s Bastion and Gellert
Hill, all of which offer panoramic views of the city. After lunch, you can spend your time at leisure or take a stroll
along Danube River.
DAY 9 BUDAPEST – VIENNA (Breakfast/Dinner)
After crossing the border into Austria, arrive in the city of Vienna. Vienna represents the glorious legacy of the
Habsburg dynasty, and during that time, the Habsburgs were great builders. Embark on a city tour to view
significant landmarks from Ringstrasse to Opera House, Hofburg, Parliament Building, Town Hall and
Burgtheater. Burgtheater was largely destroyed in a bombing raid in 1945 and 1 month later, on April 12, 1945, it
was further damaged by a fire of unknown origin. The theatre is one of the most important German language
theatres in the world. Thereafter, head to major Viennese attraction Schonbrunn Palace. Schonbrunn Palace is
part of the World Cultural Heritage and Austria's most visited sight. This Baroque synthesis of different arts,
consisting of a palace and gardens, has been in the possession of the Habsburgs for centuries, and is today
largely in its original historical condition. You will find numerous attractions, from a tour through the authentically
furnished residential and representational rooms of the imperial family in the palace, through the maze and the
labyrinth in the garden to a separate children's museum. The palace and gardens illustrate the tastes, interests
and aspirations of successive Habsburg monarchs.
DAY 10 VIENNA – SINGAPORE (Breakfast/Meals on Board)
If time permits, you can do some last-minute shopping before you transfer to the airport for your flight home.
DAY 11 ARRIVE IN SINGAPORE
Remarks
Sequence of itinerary is subject to change without prior notice.
If a place of visit is closed to visitors, it will be replaced with an alternative.
During major events, accommodation may not be in the city mentioned.
Chan Brothers Travel, one of Singapore’s biggest tour agencies, on Monday said it would take legal action against “public figures” for statements made on Facebook.

Chan Brothers did not name the individuals, but netizens on public forums made the connection to getai performer and digital content creator Wang Lei and his entourage, who recently conducted a live stream making complaints and allegations against a travel agency.

In its statement, the agency said it had received feedback on a private Europe tour it organised for “some public figures”.

“We actively sought to address their concerns and invited them to meet in person upon their return to Singapore, so that we could deal with matters in the aftermath directly and thoroughly,” said Chan Brothers.

These parties, however, took to “multiple Facebook live streams” to make statements about the trip, the agency added.

Wang, who has 1.4 million followers on Facebook, had gone live on the social media platform on July 16 at 8.29pm, with an accompanying caption in Mandarin that said he would be talking about the travel agency behind the tour.

In the almost-30 minute livestream, which was carried out in Hokkien and Mandarin, the 62-year-old, flanked by three women, including getai singer Anderene Choo and comedian Tay Yin Yin, made several allegations against the travel agency, but did not name it.

Later, two men also joined the live stream, which had more than 280,000 views as at Tuesday evening.

A subsequent Facebook post the following day indicated that he had been on a 16-day tour around Europe and had travelled to Italy, Switzerland, Croatia, Slovenia and Austria.

Chan Brothers said it had made “careful consideration” and sought legal advice before deciding to move forward with action.

“As we must be accountable to our stakeholders and customers, our firm response is crucial for a fair resolution and to set an example for responsible digital conversations,” it added.

We had good hotel locations n the tour manager was not bad.

Hi, has anyone taken EU HOlidays' Northern Lights tours? Can you share your experiences, good bad and ugly? There are a number of Singapore travel agencies offering Northern Lights tours, but it seems the reviews for LGE Travel are the worst. Can anyone recommend any reliable and good travel agencies for NL tours? Thanks!

Hi there , may I know which package you book under Chan Brother .. I jus book one ytd , wondering if I am booking the same tour package as yours ... 😔

I haven't booked anything. Not sure which agency to trust for northern lights tour. No one can guarantee we will see northern lights of course, but the reviews I read about LGE Travel are really very very bad. which makes me wonder about all the other agencies as well that offer Northern Lights tours. Has anyone taken NL tour with the socalled reputable agencies like Chan Brothers or EU holidays or others? Need good advice

Dear reader,

I would like to give an honest opinion for you to not regret spending your hard earn money away.

Very poorly organized tour. Not worth the money at all. $4000 per pax, but there is no tour guide, just merely a tour leader to handle administration stuff. Hence no explanations of local culture or guide at all.

On top of that, my tour was met with unforeseen bad weather. The entire arrangements were handled unprofessionally. The tour leader simply state “too bad, bad weather, therefore all is cancelled”. That’s all...allow me to repeat again, that’s all!! Paid $4,000 just to take 8 hours of bus rides...

Might as well stay in Singapore and take a SBS bus from interchange to interchange...fml

Best advice for anyone considering LGE travel - keep your money and stay away from the company. Period.

Those who wish to go on this tour package have to be prepared to walk distances of between 300 meters to a kilometer often, because often buses have no places to stop legally, near the restaurants and places to visit. Have to wear very comfortable walking shoes.

Tour packages to see Northern Lights, European Christmas markets hot tickets as Natas fair returns

chan brothers tour to europe

SINGAPORE - The Natas travel fair is back and so are the crowds, snapping up tour packages to destinations like Hokkaido, Finland for the Northern Lights, and Christmas markets in Europe.

The three-day National Association of Travel Agents Singapore fair, last held in August 2019, kicked off on Friday (Aug 12) at the Singapore Expo Hall 5 with more than 40 exhibitors. They include travel agencies, national tourist organisations and travel insurance providers.

The organisers are expecting 80,000 to 100,000 visitors this year, on a par with pre-pandemic attendance figures.

Minister of State for Trade and Industry Alvin Tan noted at the fair's opening ceremony that outbound travel has picked up pace, with more than 311,000 departures in May this year, a tenfold increase from the previous year.

Natas president Steven Ler said: "Thanks to the pent-up demand over the last two years, we're expecting the surge of holidaymakers to gain momentum as we go through the rest of the year."

Travel agencies The Straits Times spoke to said they are expecting strong demand at the fair this year after a three-year hiatus.

"After Covid-19, people are willing to spend more on travel... For many, seeing the Northern Lights is a bucket list item," said EU Holidays director Ong Han Jie.

The Northern Lights are typically visible only from November to March.

Besides European destinations like Switzerland and Italy, Japan is also highly sought-after , despite the country allowing only package tours for now.

"From now until December, we have 60 groups departing for Japan, but we're going to add 10 to 20 more," said Mr Ong.

Chan Brothers Travel has also seen a "red hot" take-up rate for similar destinations, according to its senior marketing communications manager Jeremiah Wong.

Besides Japan and Western Europe, Turkey has also been popular with its customers.

New travel trends have also emerged, with more customers willing to take tour packages instead of making travel arrangements on their own.

"Besides repeat and new customers, there has been a substantial shift this time round, where people who might not have considered taking group tours in the past have switched over from free-and-easy travel," he noted.

"Many of them are younger customers who are travelling with their parents, and who want peace of mind about (country-specific) pandemic restrictions."

Another major player, Trafalgar, is seeing plenty of interest in trips to see the Northern Lights, as well as multi-city trips to see the Christmas markets around Europe.

chan brothers tour to europe

"People have been saving up, so they don't mind spending more now... They are also looking for longer and more meaningful trips," said Ms Celest Quek, marketing communications director for Asia at The Travel Corporation, whose brands include Trafalgar and Uniworld River Cruises.

Among travellers who were scouting for deals at the Natas fair on Friday was university student Alan Tan.

The 21-year-old is planning to head to Finland in December for about two weeks to see the Northern Lights with his family.

His family's budget for the trip is up to $10,000 for everything, including the tour package, airfare and food.

"I haven't been on any trips since Covid-19 hit, so I'm really looking forward to this one," said Mr Tan, who was specifically looking for packages that included a visit to the Santa Claus Village in Lapland, and to see huskies.

Others like Mr Yeo Jia Wei, 26, who works in logistics, is looking at a destination closer to home - a week-long trip to South Korea with his friends.

For his first holiday overseas in more than 2½ years, he said he is willing to spend $1,500 on the trip, which is $500 more than what he used to spend on trips pre-pandemic.

"Plane ticket prices increased a lot when countries opened up their borders, but even though travelling is more expensive now, I believe it is well worth splurging on," said Mr Yeo, who is planning to head to the fair this weekend.
