Brandon Flowers is an American born singer-songwriter and musician, though you would never guess from hearing his music. Flowers wears his influences (nearly all from the UK) on his sleeve. Credit to his older siblings, he practically grew up on New Order and the Cure.

Flowers was born on 21 June 1981 in Henderson, Nevada, US and was the youngest of 6 children. Brandon moved around a few times during his childhood. He first relocated from Henderson to Payson, Utah when he was 8 years old and two years later moved to Nephi, Utah. During his junior year of high school he moved to Las Vegas with his aunt to finish up at Chaparral High School.

Two years after his graduation Flowers went on to form one of the most iconic pop-rock bands of the decade, The Killers. Towards the end of 2001 he responded to an add guitarist David Keuning had placed in the paper seeking musicians for his new band. Once Flowers joined, he along with Keuning recruited bassist Mark Stoermer and drummer Ronnie Vannucci to complete the line up.

Under Flower’s direction The Killers went on to release 4 albums between 2004 and 2012, which would each take the No.1 spot on the charts. Additionally the band put out the compilation albums “Sawdust” and “Direct Hits”, achieving platinum and gold status, consecutively. The Killers have sold over 25 million albums worldwide and are largely responsible for reviving the 80s new wave sound initially defined by acts like the Pet Shop Boys, Psychedelic Furs, and Echo & the Bunnymen.

Brandon Flowers has influenced a multitude of bands with his signature sound and fashion sensibility and has likewise left an indelible impression on his contemporaries. Singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright composed the song “Tulsa” about the time when he first met Flowers. The track appeared in the middle of Wainwright’s widely acclaimed record “Release the Stars”. Elton John and U2’s Bono have also professed their fondness of Flowers. Elton named him as one of his top-five heroes and Bono spoke highly of Flowers’ voice, exclaiming that it was of the type of quality the radio should snap up.

Flowers released his debut studio album “Flamingo” in September of 2010. The album was a very personal one with themes strongly tied to Flowers’ hometown, Las Vegas. It was produced by a star studded list of sound engineers, including Stuart Price (Pet Shop Boys, Scissor Sisters, Gwen Stefani etc..), Daniel Lanois (Brian Eno, Harold Budd, U2) and Brendan O’Brien (Pearl Jam, Matthew Sweet, My Chemical Romance). “Flamingo” did exceptionally well on the charts entering the Billboard 200 at No.8. Flower’s second studio album is set for release in 2015.

Live reviews

One piece of the formula that made The Killers such an indie sensation was there undeniably cool frontman Brandon Flowers. The charismatic singer is known to be able to command a stage and lead his audience through the momentous hits such as 'Somebody Told Me' and 'Smile Like You Mean It'. This cannot be described as an easy feat and Brandon transfers this level of control to his solo tours.

Having only released one solo body of work to date, the 2010 LP 'Flamingo' he does dip into his band's work yet the audience seems enthusiastic throughout no matter where the set comes from. As the deafening drums pierce the venue, Brandon struts onto stage with his undeniable level of bravado and the audience lose their collective minds. Running through 'Flamingo' in its almost entirety, huge cheers are reserved for new favourites including 'Crossfire' and 'Only The Young'.

Despite his showmanship, Flowers offer a moment of vulnerability during an acoustic version of 'Welcome To Fabulous Las Vegas' and the audience raise the roof at its conclusion. A vibrant, bouncing encore of 'Human' and the synonymous 'Mr. Brightside' leaves crowds under the impression Brandon Flowers is without a doubt a world class frontman.

I will admit that I love the Killers and love Brandon Flowers so I’m partially biased and it would be hard for me to EVER say anything bad about them or him. But this was seriously the best concert I have ever been to.

Bran’s voice is just so incredible and unique. His falsettos just really get me moving. It’s a shame that it was just Brandon and not the whole band but at the same time seeing Brandon stripped down without his band mates in the Killers was kind of cool. He did throw in some of his Killers songs and surprised me with a cover of the Beatles Helter Skelter, but it is quite apparent that he is the true genius behind the Killers.

I got chills during Crossfire, more chills during Magdalena but when he busted out Jenny was a Friend of Mine, I almost cried. Such a fantastic song and such an amazing voice.

Unless you’ve lived under a rock for the past 10 years you’ve heard a song by The Killers. Well if you enjoyed any of their stuff, check out Brandon Flowers’ solo stuff. It is just as good if not better. Outstanding live, go check him out! But bring tissues, he’s emotional, you might cry!

What can I say? I loved it. I always do.

I have read many reviews of this gig in many UK newspapers stating that Brandon has no stage presence, lacks "rock star DNA" and doesn't connect with audience. I can only assume that these people were watching another gig.

Brandon does not need to be a Springsteen, a Bono or any other carbon copy of an existing legend. This is the very point for me. His lyrics are thoroughly from the heart and clearly inspired by those closest to him. The lyrics are beautifully coupled with the wonderful music in which you can hear the influences of such legends as Springsteen and Bowie along with his love of all things 1980s Electro Pop.

Brandon never disappoints in his live shows. Those of us who have been following Brandon (and the Killers) for years will know where I'm coming from. He is incredibly versatile.

Any artists who brings his wife and children out on stage to say "thank you" for letting us "share him" with her is fantastic is my view. This, and the popularity of his records, is all the connection with the fans you need, because its genuine.

Brandon's show at Rickshaw Stop was one of the best concerts I've ever witnessed. Brandon never fails to impress, whether its with The Killers or solo, but he really has improved exponentially since his last solo tour in 2010. All the new songs sounded incredible (the crowd was especially enthusiastic about Still Want You and Lonely Town, the latter of which had yet to be released at the time), and the reworked versions of Killers tracks were great as well. Brandon Flowers is truly one of the best performers I've ever seen. He knows how to work a crowd. The backing band on this tour is fun to watch too (if you can manage to tear your eyes away from Brandon), and it's obvious that they're all having a really good time.

Unreal! Words cannot describe the amazing beautiful ness that went on last night in Minneapolis! Brandon Flowers is incredible live! The shows only problem was that it was over instantly it felt like! I could have stayed for days!!! I've been to dozens of shows and nothing has even come close to Brandon Flowers! To top it all off, we stayed a couple hours after and got to meet him and get multiple photos and autographs! He is an angel! Unbelievably the best show I've ever experienced and the most wonderful person I've ever had the pleasure of meeting! I cannot wait for next time!!!! I am literally going to go insane waiting!

Went to see Brandon last week at Brixton and then went to Leeds last night to see him again. Bowl fantastic nights! Both very different concerts. Great surprise last week with Chrissie Hynde and some treats of Killers tracks. Last night just as good, no surprise guest but the addition of Human. His voice was pitch perfect on both occasions and looked to genuinely love his time on stage. Fab to experience him in smaller venues too! Need to get the younger audience to listen to his music too!

absolutely epic gig by Brandon, with special guest Chrissie Hynde in the encore, my favourites were the country version of the Killers song "Jenny was a friend of mine" and "The way it's always been", my favourite track from the new album.

Let's just say I'm amazed by him in any venue. I love the crescent....he got on top of the bar and sang. Very intimate just too much smoke. Thank goodness he decided to do a show here because I don't like Tempe town lake.

The concert was good, a little too many Killers songs and didn't perform between you and me. His voice sometimes flaked but didn't get in the way. His concert 4years ago in 013 was better. Would go again though!rate 8

Awesome gig! Good sound inside the venue, nice lighting effects and great audience! I'm sure Brandon appreciated all of that! I also liked those covers of The Killers songs, really nice and creative ones!

Brandon Flowers confirms he’s making a new solo album

The Killers frontman has talked about the future of the band and revealed he’s making his own record.

Brandon Flowers is working on a third solo album.

The Killers frontman previously has gone it alone on two studio efforts and now he’s confirmed he’s creating the follow-up of 2010's Flamingo and 2015's The Desired Effect.

In a recent interview, Flowers said he wanted all four original bandmembers - completed by drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. along with sometimes-bandmates Mark Stoermer and Dave Keuning - to work on the next Killers record.

Quizzed if this was the case, he told NME: “I’m making a solo record right now! I almost had it wrapped up. The goal has always been to get all four original members to take ownership and be proud of what we’re doing, but it’s so difficult with all four of us living in different cities. It’s not impossible. It’s weird to be talking to you about it, but I’d definitely like to do that."

Asked to clarify about working on a new solo effort, he added: “Yes, I’m writing a third solo record.”

He went on to say his work would embody a “bit” of the first two albums, but would reflect the last seven years of his life.

“It’s different,” he explained to the outlet. “I feel like it embodies a little bit of my first two solo records, but obviously there’s so much more living that I’ve done in the seven years since my last effort. I’ve got a lot more insight and things that I’ve absorbed. I’m really loving how it’s turning out.”

The band are certainly set for a busy 2024 announcing huge Greatest Hits tour dates to celebrate their Rebel Diamonds album next year.

The month saw the band announce a sixth and final date at The O2, London "due to phenomenal demand" with tickets which went on sale the week.

The epic tour will also include four nights at Manchester Co-op Live, three shows at Glasgow's OVO Hydro and three nights at Dublin's 3Arena .

Travis have also been confirmed as special guests, joining them on all their shows.

Watch: The Killers’ Brandon Flowers Joins Ed Sheeran for Surprise Collaboration In Las Vegas

E d Sheeran had something special planned for his Mathematics Tour stop in Las Vegas on Saturday night (October 28). The hit singer/songwriter surprised concertgoers by welcoming The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers to the Allegiant Stadium stage.

Dressed as the horror film character Chucky in celebration of the upcoming Halloween holiday, Sheeran paused his set to reveal the evening’s unannounced guest. 

“There’s a person I want to bring out who’s from Vegas, and we’re going to sing a song that’s essentially like my country’s national anthem,” he told the crowd, captured in a fan-filmed video shared to YouTube. “I hope you enjoy it.”

A few seconds later, the crowd erupted with cheers as the first chords of The Killers’ trademark hit “Mr. Brightside” filled the venue. Flowers ran on stage to join Sheeran, who played acoustic guitar during their energetic performance. The pair quickly followed up the tune with a rendition of Sheeran’s 2017 single, “Castle on the Hill.”

Sheeran’s performance in Las Vegas marked his final North American tour stop for 2023. Next month, he’ll perform two dates at Royal Albert Hall in London before taking a well-deserved break from the road. The award-winning artist has kept a busy schedule this year, steadily touring and releasing two albums, Subtract and Autumn Variations .

Flowers and his bandmates in The Killers also spent most of 2023 on tour across the U.S. and overseas. In August, they dropped a new single, “Your Side of Town,” possibly hinting at more music to come in 2024. The band’s most recent record, Pressure Machine , arrived in 2021. Currently, The Killers’ touring schedule is empty for the coming year, so fans will just have to wait and see what the group has up their sleeve.

The Killers are apologizing.

The Brandon Flowers -fronted “Mr. Brightside” band was met with boos after an incident while performing in Georgia.

During their concert in Shekvetili, the group brought up a fan onstage to play the drums, a longstanding live tradition. He introduced himself as being from Russia, which was met with a negative reaction from the crowd, as Brandon referred to him as the country’s “brother.”

After more booing, he asked if he wasn’t their brother, being from America and got more boos, via TMZ .

Not only did the crowd grow angry, but “many” people reportedly left.

The Killers' Set List for 2022 Imploding the Mirage Tour Revealed

The Killers are currently touring the world for their Imploding the Mirage Tour and you can check out the set list right here!

The band kicked off the tour with three hometown shows in Las Vegas back in April, though the current set list is different from those performances.

The Killers Kick Off 2022 Tour - Set List Revealed for Hometown Show in Vegas!

The Killers gave their hometown crowd a special treat to kick off their first tour in years!

The band, led by lead singer Brandon Flowers , opened their 2022 tour with a show at The Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan on Friday (April 15) in Las Vegas.

The show was filled with music from their two latest albums, Imploding the Mirage and Pressure Machine , as well as their greatest hits like “Mr. Brightside” and “When We Were Young.” The crowd brought so much energy to The Chelsea that the floors were quite literally bouncing up and down throughout the entire evening.

“A lot of people talk about, during COVID it sort of helped them focus on what’s important in their life. And I think a lot of people whittled that down to the fact that it was people close to them and their family that was close to them. We found this to be true ourselves. But we have another family we have been missing. And it means a lot for us to play these songs for you again,” Brandon told the crowd.

After three shows in Vegas this weekend, The Killers will be touring Mexico and Europe through July. They’ll return for a full North American tour in August!

The Killers' Frontman Brandon to Undergo Shoulder Surgery Following Bike Accident

The 39-year-old The Killers frontman revealed during an Instagram Live Q&A with fans on the band’s official account that he will be having surgery on his shoulder after sustaining an injury from a bike accident.

“Some of you may have seen the picture I posted and some footage when I went over the handlebars on my bike and an injury from that has manifested itself,” Brandon shared .

“I have a torn labrum in that shoulder so I am going under the knife in a couple of weeks to get that taken care of,” he added.

It looks like Brandon may have suffered the bike accident back in 2017. At the time, he took to Twitter to show off his bruised face after an accident.

“When mtn (mountain) biking down hill, don’t squeeze left brake,” Brandon tweeted along with the pic.

However, it is unclear if Brandon ‘s surgery is from the 2017 accident.

Brandon has said that some of the music was inspired from his family’s move from Las Vegas to Utah. He said, “It was kind of a crisis for me. I felt like the mountains and the lights defined me, and so I felt like I was doing something dirty by leaving it.”

The song is the second to be released from The Killers ‘ Imploding the Mirage .

The artwork for “My Own Soul’s Warning” is a painting by the artist Thomas Blackshear , who also painted the piece the band is using for Imploding The Mirage ’s cover art.

The artwork depicts the Crow Tribe of Indians, who gave the band their blessing to use the painting.

“Artists living across the world inspired by our people and way of life, is a total honour and true testament of the knowledge our people share. During this unprecedented time due to the COVID-19 Pandemic as well as the injustice of police brutality protests around the world. Our people recognise the need to also help keep our spirits positive,” they said in a statement.

The Killers Plan to Go Forward With Tour Despite Coronavirus

The Killers are still planning to go on with their tour, despite coronavirus concerns.

Brandon Flowers and his bandmates took to Instagram on Thursday (March 12) to update fans.

“People of Earth, greetings and salutations,” they wrote. “We’ve been putting this tour together for a long time and we are extremely excited to finally share it with you.”

They continued, “We have, of course, been paying close attention to the recent precautionary measures around the world and trust that the coronavirus is expected to follow tradtional flu season patterns.”

“We look forward to a great summer of shows,” they added. “Look after each other – sing the chorus of Mr. Brightside when you wash your hands – and see you this summer!”

Brandon Flowers has canceling the next week of shows on his North American tour. 

Following more than two weeks on the road, The Killers frontman has canceled six shows from Thursday night until next Wednesday, Aug. 19. 

Brandon Flowers, Iggy Pop & La Roux Slated to Appear on New Order’s ‘Music Complete’

Killers fan site The Killers News reports the dates are not being rescheduled and purchased tickets will be refunded. 

While Live Nation has not yet listed each date as canceled, each venue has tweeted the new, citing “unforeseen circumstances.”

Flowers is scheduled to begin touring again in September, starting Sept. 2 at the Fox Theater in Oakland, Calif. He has not issued any official statement.

A C T   O N E  SCENE 1

Dr Silbergaus hosts a Christmas Eve party for his daughter Clara.  The guest of honour is Clara’s Godfather Drosselmeyer, arriving with gifts for the young girl, including a book entitled The Nutcracker & the Mouse King.  Clara becomes enthralled with the book as other guests arrive and admire the Christmas tree. Drosselmeyer appears as Santa Clause, with toys for the children and carnival masks for the adults.  Later, he surprises everyone by appearing as a magician.   He orders mechanical toys to be brought into the room.  At the wave of his wand, three puppets appear – a Nutcracker, a Doll, and a Mouse King.  

The Nutcracker starts dancing declaring he can gain victory over everyone.  Everybody joins in the dancing, except Clara who watches the Mouse King come to life and challenge the Nutcracker for the right to dance with the Doll. The Nutcracker and Mouse King are soon fighting, and Clara realises this is just what she read in her book.  The Doll throws a slipper at the fighting pair, who stop just as Drosselmeyer re-appears.  The guests congratulate him on a wonderful show.   Clara’s brother Fritz challenges the Nutcracker to a duel.   In the ensuing fight, the Nutcracker is wounded. Fritz is punished, and the toys are covered up.   Clara is comforted by her Godfather, who tells her that she will see more later that night.   

The guests depart, thanking the host Dr. Silbergaus.  Clara sits in her darkened room with the damaged Nutcracker.  She wonders what her Godfather had meant ….what surprises will be in store for her.   Soon she is awakened by a strange rattling noise. “Mice,” thinks Clara. But these are not ordinary mice they are dressed to celebrate Christmas.  She tries to escape when the clock strikes midnight, the mice are still and Clara sees her Godfather sitting on top of the clock. When she begs him for help Drosselmeyer takes her in his arms.   

As the Christmas tree begins to grow, the Nutcracker comes back to life. He leaps to his feet and calls upon his friends to help fight the mice.  An army of toy soldiers appear.  At the height of the battle, Clara hurls her slipper it at the Mouse King who is knocked down.   Clara faints.   As darkness returns, Drosselmeyer covers Clara and the Nutcracker with a shawl. Minutes later, Clara reawakens to find she has become a beautiful Princess and as her Godfather lifts the shawl, she sees the Nutcracker has turned into a handsome Prince.  She is overcome with joy and hugs her Godfather as the Prince beckons her to follow him.

As Clara sleeps, Drosselmeyer appears and transforms the room into a pine forest.  It starts to snow and Clara awakens and stares in amazement at the magical sight.

Drosselmeyer appears and completes the transformation – flowers appear everywhere.

Clara arrives with the Nutcracker Prince.   She is overjoyed but fails to notice that Drosselmeyer has transformed himself into a young man.  The Flower Fairy appears and hears the Nutcracker boast about his defeat of the Mouse King.   Drosselmeyer is upset by this and once again conjures up the Mouse King.  The fight resumes and the Nutcracker faces defeat.   Clara begs her Godfather to help and with a final wave of his wand a crown of flowers appears on the Mouse King’s head!   The Nutcracker thanks Drosselmeyer for his help and they both ask Clara to dance.  Amazed to see how similar they now look, Clara chooses to dance with the Nutcracker.   Her Godfather feels rejected and turns himself back into the Magician.    Dawn breaks and as the Kingdom of the Flowers fades, Clara finds herself back in the family living room.   She rushes to uncover the Nutcracker but under the clock she finds only a basket of flowers.

Theatres in Moscow

Cultural life of Moscow city is various and rich! Operas, ballets, symphonic concerts... Russian composers have created some of the most beautiful classical music. Russian classical music is very popular in Moscow. It is performed in many beautiful historical venues. Do not forget to include a visit to a concert hall in your itinerary when you are planning your stay in Moscow! And do it in advance.

There are almost no restrictions on dress code in Russian theatres. Visitors may wear jeans and sports shoes, they may have a backpack with them. Only shorts are not allowed.

A typical feature of Russian theatre – visitors are bringing a lot of flowers which they present to their favorite performers after the show.

Here are some practical advices where to go and how to buy tickets.

The Bolshoi Theatre

The Bolshoi Theatre is the oldest, the most famous and popular opera and ballet theatre in Russia. The word “Bolshoi” means “big” in Russian. You can buy a ticket online in advance, 2-3 months before the date of performance on the official website . Prices for famous ballets are high: 6-8 thousand rubles for a seat in stalls. Tickets to operas are cheaper: you can get a good seat for 4-5 thousand rubles. Tickets are cheaper for daytime performances and performances on the New Stage. The New Stage is situated in the light-green building to the left of the Bolshoi's main building. The quality of operas and ballets shown on the New Stage is excellent too. However, you should pay attention that many seats of the Bolshoi’s Old and New Stages have limited visibility . If you want to see the Bolshoi’s Old Stage but all tickets are sold out, you can order a tour of the theatre. You can book such a tour on the official website.

If you want, following Russian tradition, to give flowers to the performers at the end of the show, in the Bolshoi flowers should be presented via special staff who collects these flowers in advance.

In August the Bolshoi is closed.

The Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre

This theatre is noteworthy. On one hand, it offers brilliant classical opera and ballet performances. On the other hand, it is an experimental venue for modern artists. You can check the program and buy tickets online here http://stanmus.com/ . If you are opera lover, get a ticket to see superstar Hibla Gerzmava . The theatre has a very beautiful historic building and a stage with a good view from every seat. Tickets are twice cheaper than in the Bolshoi.

The Novaya Opera

“Novaya” means “New” in Russian. This opera house was founded in 1991 by a famous conductor Eugene Kolobov. Its repertoire has several directions: Russian and Western classics, original shows and divertissements, and operas of the 20th and 21st centuries. It is very popular with Muscovites for excellent quality of performances, a comfortable hall, a beautiful Art Nouveau building and a historic park Hermitage, which is situated right next to it. Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Center

The Opera Center has become one of the best theatrical venues in Moscow. It was founded in 2002 by great diva Galina Vishnevskaya. Nowadays its artistic director is Olga Rostropovich, daughter of Galina Vishnevskaya and her husband Mstislav Rostropovich, great cellist and conductor. Not only best young opera singers perform here, but also world music stars do; chamber and symphonic concerts, theatrical productions and musical festivals take place here. Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and The Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory

These are two major concert halls for symphonic music in Moscow. Both feature excellent acoustics, impressive interior, various repertoire and best performers. Moscow International Performing Arts Center (MIPAC)

This modern and elegant concert hall houses performances of national and foreign symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, solo instrumentalists, opera singers, ballet dancers, theatre companies, jazz bands, variety and traditional ensembles. Actually, it has three concert halls placed on three different levels and having separate entrances. The President of MIPAC is People’s Artist of the USSR Vladimir Spivakov, conductor of “Virtuosy Moskvy” orchestra. You can see pictures of the concert halls here http://www.mmdm.ru/en/content/halls .
