Pokémon GO , likely the world's most recognizable augmented reality game , hosts a gigantic in-person event February 18-19 in Las Vegas. This "tour" celebrates Hoenn, the setting for the third generation of Pokémon games, Ruby and Sapphire.
As with each of the game's previous tours, Pokémon GO Tour Hoenn focuses on a particular Pokémon, elemental type, or pop culture moment tied to the franchise. For this event, legendary powerhouses Kyogre and Groudon will have access to their Primal forms — a process that allows them to revert back to their original designs which feature flowing lava and brighter patterns on Groudon's arms and Kyogre's fins.

Returning to a beloved region
At the start of the event, players can choose from two teams, Ruby or Sapphire. The former increases the presence of Primal Groudon Raids, and the latter Primal Kyogre. For the first time since Pokémon GO launched, players will finally get to encounter the Primal versions of these legendary Pokémon.
Along with access to Primal Reversion, the event will also showcase one of the most popular forms of Pokémon across its many games: shiny variants. These color-changed versions of Pokémon are coveted most by collectors for how rarely they spawn in the wild.

During GO Tour Hoenn, players also have the chance to encounter other exclusive Pokémon. That includes the legendary Eon Pokémon Latios and Latias, the ever elusive Kecleon (which can also be shiny) and several species of Pokémon with shiny chances across different habitats: Nincada and Bagon in the Blistering Sands Habitat, along with Absol and Beldum in the Eerie Mists Habitat. You can even nab a costumed Pikachu wearing Brendan and May's hats from the Sapphire and Ruby games.
The event will also feature new music from Junichi Masuda, The Pokémon Company's Chief Creative Fellow and programmer whose ties to the franchise reach back to its very first games.
It's an addition that Humberto Kam, Niantic's Director of Global Live Events, hopes resonates most with fans.

The GO Tour will introduce new stickers as well.
"We're totally nerding out about that, because as people walk in [to the event], I want people to hear those horns from Hoenn...it was a great place to draw inspiration from, not only for the nostalgia but also to put a different spin on things." Kam said the experience is also an attempt to bridge the gap between fans old and new to the world of Pokémon GO .
Kam shared that destination appeal is a significant metric for in-person events as players may want to participate in activities outside of the game. "As much as we love Pokémon GO , if I was going to the event, my wife might want to have something else to do," he added laughing.
"We did Kanto and Johto years prior, so this was next on the list but given that it's Hoenn, we knew we had to do it right," Kam said about the impact of Ruby and Sapphire and the plans for this year's GO Tour.
Familiar faces
Bringing Hoenn's iconic legends to the event was an ode to a generation beloved by players across the Pokémon community. "When we started talking about GO Tour for this year, we just went Primals, right? We're going to add Primals?'" Kam said about the planning stages. From very early on they wanted to do something special and it felt like a "no-brainer" to add the feature.
Throughout the history of the franchise, Groudon and Kyogre have been staples in the anime, in viral memes , and on teams that have had massive success in the video game format tournaments of Pokémon's competitive scene .
The two, along with the legendary dragon Rayquaza, make up what fans have coined "the weather trio" — a trifecta of elemental barons who hold dominion over their respective ecosystems.

Groudon, as its earthy name suggests, reigns over the lithosphere, while the water Pokémon Kyogre rules the hydrosphere. In Pokémon lore, both creatures remain locked in an ancient rivalry, causing the earth's surface to split and its oceans to swell.
In the main series of games, Groudon and Kyogre serve as the cover art for Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire versions, respectively. Together, the games are listed as the eighth best-selling titles in the franchise's history.

Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn full event schedule
The first massive Pokémon Go event of 2023 is finally here, with players traveling to Las Vegas getting the first crack at Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn right before it hits the global stage a week later—bringing with it the first appearances of Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre. But that also means players will want to see the full event schedule and plan out their approach.
Because there is an in-person and digital global event for Go Tour: Hoenn, it is being split between two weekends, with a smaller connecting event called Primal Rumblings running to keep things rolling leading into the global event.
Players in Las Vegas got first dibs on all of the new Go Tour content on Feb. 18 and 19, but now it is time for the global event on Feb. 25 and 26.
Just like with most of these big Pokémon Go events, players will see habit rotations in play that will swap which Pokémon are spawning more frequently in the wild each hour. There are also two Primal Surge habitats that tie into the Ruby vs. Sapphire Challenge running between players picking different versions.

Pokémon Go Glitz and Glam quest steps and rewards for Diancie
How to catch Diancie in Pokémon Go.
The Glitz and Glam special research offers every Pokémon Go player the chance to catch Diancie for free! (Though if you already have one in your collection, you'll earn more Diancie Candy instead.)
Diancie's free global release follows Pokémon Go tradition where the mythical Pokémon debut for a past Go Fest event becomes freely available via a special research quest some time after said event. We've seen similar releases in the past for Shaymin and Meloetta .
While originally released as part of Go Fest 2024, Diancie can now be caught by all Pokémon Go players by completing the Glitz and Glam quest steps and rewards .
On this page:
- 'Glitz and Glam' quest steps and rewards
How Diancie first debuted in Pokémon Go
'glitz and glam' quest steps and rewards in pokémon go.
Below you'll find the Glitz and Glam quest steps which eventually lead you to catching a mythical Diancie in Pokémon Go. Since it's a special research quest, Glitz and Glam can be completed whenever you like.
It's important to note, however, that you will not catch a Diancie if you've previously caught one through one of the Go Fest 2023 quests, such as Fascinating Facets . Instead, you'll earn additional Diancie Candy.
Be warned the section below contains spoilers for both the quest steps and rewards for Glitz and Glam.
Thank you to Amiibofan101 from reddit for the help with this information.

The World of Wonders season has come to Pokémon Go. You can now catch Wiglett and, if you don't have one already, Diancie through the Glitz and Glam quest. There's also the Rediscover Kanto and World of Wonders quests to complete! Don't forget to try out Routes , Gift Exchange and Party Play while you're hunting down rare Pokémon , fighting in the Go Battle League or competing in PokéStop Showcases .
Diancie originally debuted in Pokémon Go as part of the Go Fest 2023 celebrations. It first became available to players who attended the Go Fest 2023 event in Osaka or London on Friday 4th August. Diancie could then be caught by players who attended the in-person Go Fest 2023 event in New York and finally worldwide on Saturday 26th August during the Go Fest 2023 Global event.
During all of these instances, catching Diancie was pay-to-play content. Players who purchased tickets for Go Fest 2024 Global can catch Diancie once they're completed Step 4 of Fascinating Facets . If you were one of these players, then, instead of a second Diancie, you'll receive additional Candy for this Pokémon.
Mega Diancie was also released alongside Diancie - appearing in Mega Raids during both the in-person and global Go Fest events. To help players attending these events complete this Mega Evolution, you could not only earn additional Mega Diancie Energy through specific field research tasks but by catching Carbink.
Nearly a year later, like certain mythical Pokémon in the past such as Shaymin, Diancie has been made available to all Pokémon Go players for free via the Glitz and Glam special research quest.
Good luck catching Diancie in Pokémon Go!

Pokémon Go Ditto disguises list for May 2024
Ditto is an elusive Pokémon in Pokémon Go , as it disguises itself and you can’t actually just catch one straight-up.
In order to find Ditto, you’ll want to find the Pokémon that it currently disguises itself as. For example, you may see a Diglett, and it’ll stay a Diglett once you tap on it, but it’s secretly a Ditto. Once you catch that Pokémon, you’ll be met with an “Oh?” prompt, and it’ll turn into a Ditto — if you’re lucky.
Ditto’s chosen disguises changes from time to time, so you’ll want to make sure you know what the disguises are currently if you’re Ditto hunting — especially if you are after a shiny.
Below, we’ve listed out the current Ditto disguises in Pokémon Go for May 2024 .
Pokémon Go Ditto disguises in May 2024
As of Dec. 18, 2023 — following the Adamant Times event — Ditto can currently be any of the following Pokémon in Pokémon Go:
- Oddish (Gen 1, Kanto)
- Koffing (Gen 1, Kanto)
- Rhyhorn (Gen 1, Kanto)
- Goldeen (Gen 1, Kanto)
- Numel (Gen 3, Hoenn)
- Bidoof (Gen 4, Sinnoh)
- Solosis (Gen 5, Unova)
- Bergmite (Gen 6, Kalos)
- Stufful (Gen 7, Alola)
How to find shiny Ditto in Pokémon Go
There’s a few things to know about Ditto and shiny hunting. For one, if you encounter a shiny Pokémon that can be a Ditto, it will never be a Ditto . Don’t worry, you won’t lose your shiny.
Finding a shiny Ditto is just the luck of the draw . Any Ditto you find and catch has a chance to be shiny , and the shiny rates are higher than usual. Expert research group The Silph Road says it’s about a one in 64 chance to be shiny ( via Wayback Machine ). You’ll just have to get lucky when you find disguised Pokémon.
Shiny Ditto was initially made available to players via a paid Special Research Task set for the Kanto Tour back in 2021, but is now just a regular encounter.

Sierra’s First Phase Counters
Sierra's first phase features a Shadow Trapinch. It is the only predictable phase for Pokemon GO players to prepare a suitable counter.

Type: Dark and Ghost
Weakness: Fairy-type moves
Resistance: Normal, Psychic, Fighting, and Poison-type moves
Shadow Honchkrow
Type: Dark and Flying
Weakness: Electric, Fairy, Ice, and Rock-type moves
