April 21, 2022 at 1:38 pm

We are a group of seniors starting from Clark/Angeles City. I wanted to know the relative locations of (1) Puning Hot Springs (2) Where does the route of 4×4 jeep ride to Puning Hot Springs mentioned above start? (3) Where does the route of doing a hike to the Mt. Pinotubo crater lake start if we do a 4×4 drop off to the mid point? We have some who want to hike the 2 hour one-way hike, and those who would not like to do so due to age. Is it feasible to plan (a) Group 1 does Mt. Pinatubo short hike (4 hour two way) with 4×4 drop off and then go to Puning Hot Springs for a dip in the thermal pool and sand spa – how much comfortable time to provide for the tour?; and (b) Group 2 does 4×4 4×4 jeep ride to Puning Hot Springs and spends the day in Puning Hot Springs (thermal pool dips, spa, food and cultural show? We are visiting in November 2022. Thanks in advance.

Hey Anand, they are in different locations/provinces. The jump-off to Puning Hot Springs is in Brgy. Sapang Bato, Angeles City, Pampanga while the jump-off to the Mt. Pinatubo Crater trek is in Capas, Tarlac. I suggest to do them in separate days.

We are arriving in Cebu Mar 15 @ 1am (staying 2 days) to do canyoneering. I want to go to El Nido (doing tour A & C) and maybe glamping in Nacpan and Boracay. We are departing from CRK Mar 28 late night. In what order should we travel? Do we have time to fit another island? Blue water and some activities are our interests.

February 28, 2024 at 9:22 pm

I suggest you do the island hopping first in Palawan and then go to Boracay to do more relaxed activities. If you’re departing from Cebu Airport, you can go on a day or overnight trip to Panglao & Bohol.

Located just behind SM City San Fernando in San Fernando, Pampanga, the park has 23 rides you can choose from: the Pampanga Eye, Drop Tower, Super Viking, Loop Roller Coaster, Bungee Jump, Space Shuttle, and more.

The park does not have an entrance fee, but you have to pay to enjoy the rides.

A weekend getaway would not be complete without getting your feet (or your whole body) wet.

Head to Aqua Planet in Clark Freeport Zone, Clark, Pampanga, and enjoy a full day exploring its 30-plus water slides and other attractions.

The water park also has its own restaurants, shops, and live entertainment shows in the evenings, so you can spend the whole day chilling inside the resort!

Go on a field trip around the whole Philippines in just one place at Nayong Pilipino inside Clark Freeport Zone. The park features replicas of tourist spots, historical sites, ancestral homes, and native villages from all over the Philippines.

There’s even a replica of the Tabon Cave, where the bones of the first human settlers in the Philippines were found. Other attractions include a Money Museum and Textile Museum. Traditional dances such as the tinikling and singkil are also performed at the park.

8. See the Animals at Zoocobia Fun Zoo

Zoocobia is a zoo and theme park in Clark, Pampanga. Attractions include a Birds of Paradise enclosure, a Garden Maze, and a petting section where you can experience bottle-feeding baby goats and pigs. It also has an endemic species showcase and a taxidermy museum.

There are other activities in Zoocobia as well. Enjoy a camel ride up a hill, go on a thrilling ATV ride, feel the wind on your face while on the zip line, and go on a downhill drive with the gravity car!

Air Force City at Clark Field, Pampanga

Its galleries contain well-preserved memorabilia, dioramas, murals, and interactive displays that will definitely interest the history buff in you.

You don’t need to travel far if you want to learn wakeboarding, just head to the Deca Wakeboard Park in Clark or Pradera Verde in Lubao.

Both wakeboard parks feature various jumps and obstacles that cater to both beginners and expert wakeboarders.

For those without equipment, they offer boards, helmets, and other equipment you can rent, so all you need to do is show up, go on the board, and get soaked!

Museo Ning Angeles used to be the Municipio del Pueblo or the Town Hall of Angeles City until 1998.

Constructed in 1922, the two-story building stood guard over Angeles City, witnessing its growth and development throughout the decades.

The museum, which opened in 1999, gives a glimpse of Angeles City’s history through its memorabilia display.

The museum also serves as a venue for art classes, cultural performances, and exhibits of local artists.

The Pamintuan Mansion is a Spanish-era colonial home that has a beautifully preserved architecture and design.

It is where the first Philippine President, Emilio Aguinaldo, stood to celebrate the first anniversary of Philippine independence from Spain.

Now open to tourists as a museum, the Pamintuan Mansion offers a view of what life was like for one of the influential families in the province.

Trail of Mt. Pinatubo in Pampanga

Wash away your stress by taking a dip at Miyamit Falls in Porac, Pampanga. Reaching this hidden gem at the heart of the province involves a long trek, but the view is worth the sweat.

It’s easy to be mesmerized by the stunning nature view and the sound of the water hitting the rocks as it makes its way down to the pool.

There is no entrance fee to the Miyamit Falls, but you need to secure a permit from the Porac municipal hall.

If you want to try a 3- to 4-hour, 12-course menu of the best of Kapampangan cooking, get reservations at Bale Dutung in Angeles City, one of the best Pampanga restaurants  and tasting menu restaurants near Manila .

Run by Chef Claude Tayag and his wife, Mary Ann, the private dining restaurant offers a perfect venue for quiet, intimate family gatherings.

Due to popular demand, they now also have an Anthony Bourdain menu, inspired by the late chef/travel host/writer’s visit to the restaurant.

As Bale Dutung also serves as the Tayags’ home, the restaurant only opens occasionally to diners. It’s best to check their website for the latest restaurant schedule and call for reservations.

For sightseeing in Pampanga, visit the Candaba Swamp where you see white egrets, Philippine ducks, white-breasted herons, streaked reed-warbler, and other birds.

The swamp has about 32,000 hectares of wetland, which includes freshwater pools, marshes, and grasslands.

Migratory birds usually make the trip to the Candaba Swamp from October to February to escape the harsh winter conditions in China and Russia.

16. Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth with Razon’s Halo-Halo

It’s a simple dessert made with shaved ice, creamy milk, leche flan, macapuno, and saging na saba, but hands down, halo-halo is one of the best desserts in the Philippines.

Razon’s of Guagua shops can be found all over Pampanga, so you can get your halo-halo fix at any time during your trip.

Entrance to the San Fernando Train Station in Pampanga

As the terminus of the tragic Bataan Death March in 1942, this train station ruins served as a silent witness to the suffering of Filipino and American soldiers under the Japanese forces right after the fall of Bataan.

Thousands of exhausted and dying prisoners-of-war were loaded into box carts at this station to be sent to Camp O’Donnell in nearby Capas, Tarlac.

A Church in Pampanga

Fondly called by locals as Pisambang Maragul (“Big Church”), the Holy Rosary Parish Church is a living church and a national historical site in Angeles, Pampanga.

Construction of the church began in 1877 and was built under the “polo y servicio” labor system, the forced, unpaid labor system for Filipino native men imposed by the Spanish colonial government.

Tourist Attractions in Clark Pampanga, is it worth visiting?

Maya

Exploring the tourist spots in Clark Pampanga offers an exciting opportunity to venture off the beaten path and uncover hidden gems in the Philippines. With its diverse attractions, and vibrant culture, Clark is surely a destination worth exploring. Below are the tourist attractions in Clark Pampanga, while some are not the best for everyone and might have experienced some issues regarding the place, I am encouraging you to do your own research of the specific destinations, rules might not be suitable for you or something else.

1. Puning Hot Spring

Situated along the Sacobia River, Puning Hot Spring stands as a popular tourism destination born from the 1991 eruption of Mt. Pinatubo. Managed by local Aetas, it offers cottages, restrooms, and thermal springs with temperatures ranging from 40 to 70 degrees Celsius sourced from the Sacobia River and naturally heated by the volcano. The site features a unique Steam Spa, including experiences like the Sand Spa and Mudpack, providing therapeutic treatments amidst stunning natural surroundings. With its blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and rejuvenating experiences, Puning Hot Spring offers tourists a tranquil escape and memorable journey. On its way, visitors can also enjoy the thrill of 4×4 jeep rides across rugged terrain.

Address: Sitio Target, Barangay, Angeles, 2009 Pampanga, Philippines

2. Nayong Pilipino

Spanning 3.5 hectares within the Clark Freeport Zone in Mabalacat, Pampanga, serves as a cultural park highlighting the rich history and heritage of the Philippines. Inaugurated on December 22, 2007, at the former Expo Pilipino site, Nayong Pilipino features attractions like the Money Museum showcasing Philippine currency, along with replicas of national landmarks such as the Rizal Shrine in Calamba, Laguna, Mabini Shrine in Tanauan, Batangas and the Barasoain Church. The park also includes replica villages representing indigenous groups like the Ifugao, Kalinga, and Aeta, offering insights into their cultures through displays of crafts, textiles, and folk dances. Tourists can enjoy picnic areas amidst lush greenery and witness traditional and contemporary performances like Malong dances, Sayaw sa bangko, Singkil, and Tinikling providing an immersive Filipino experience.

Address: Nayong Pilipino, Centennial Rd, Clark Field, Mabalacat, 2010 Pampanga, Philippines

3. Aqua planet

Prepare for an unforgettable Watermazing Experience when you visit Aqua Planet in Clark. One of the tourist attractions in Clark Pampanga promises to bring an entirely new dimension of thrilling fun and excitement in the water. This waterpark prides itself on its visually appealing and world-class facilities. Absolutely your family holiday will delight in their 38 slides and various attractions available there. Some of your options include the Wave River, super bowl, spiral slide, octopus racers, hurricane, aqua loop, and more. The park has rules such as ‘No foods, No floaters’, and drones are also prohibited inside. One of the aspects I particularly like is their status as a smoke-free facility.

According to some visitors who have been to the place, they suggest reconsidering the policies as they found them to be too strict, resulting in disappointment and a lack of enjoyment during their visit.

Address: Aqua Planet, Mabalacat, Clark Freeport, Mabalacat, 2009 Pampanga, Philippines

4. Clark Museum and 4D Theater

Immerse yourself in the captivating journey through Filipino history at the Clark Museum and 4D Theater. With four engaging galleries, the museum eloquently portrays the unwavering Filipino spirit, showcasing tales of bravery, industry, and ingenuity that have shaped the nation’s identity. However, the experience doesn’t end there; the addition of the 4D Theatre elevates the visit to new heights. Through a dynamic 20-minute documentary, tourists are transported through time, witnessing Clark’s rich history unfold before their eyes. This immersive fusion of storytelling and technology offers a unique and informative exploration of the Philippines’ cultural heritage. For an enriching experience, be sure to include the 4D experience when purchasing your tickets, as it adds depth and excitement to the already compelling narrative presented within the museum’s displays. A history enthusiast or casual tourist, family, group or alone, a trip to the Clark Museum promises to be a rewarding and enlightening experience.

Nestled amidst the breathtaking backdrop of foothill mountains and verdant greenery, the Filinvest Mimosa Golf Course offers avid golfers an unparalleled experience. Boasting two magnificent courses, namely the Acacia Lakeview and the Mountainview, golf enthusiasts are presented with a choice between challenging terrain and picturesque vistas. While preserving the natural habitat and fostering wildlife, Filinvest Mimosa Golf Course emerges not only as a premier golf destination but also as a beacon of sustainable practices in the realm of leisure and recreation. This tourist attraction in Clark, Pampanga, might not appeal to everyone, but for those who spend their time here, it’s definitely worth it.

Indulge in unforgettable leisure horse rides at Clark’s El Kabayo, a charming replica of an old western town reminiscent of the days of John Wayne and Bonanza. Here, you’ll encounter a variety of horses including thoroughbreds, quarter horses, and adorable ponies, reminiscent of the days when hundreds of American Cavalry horses roamed these grounds. Whether you prefer a leisurely ride through the lush open Clark Picnic grounds or an adventurous trek to the nearby mountains and river, El Kabayo offers the perfect setting for your riding pleasure. Discover the joy of horseback riding in this picturesque oasis—a truly unmatched experience for enthusiasts and novices alike.

7. K-9 Cemetery / Military Working Dogs Cemetery

The K-9 Cemetery in Clark City, Pampanga, is a solemn tribute to the dogs who served in the United States Air Force during their time in the Philippines. Established in the 1980s on the former military air base, this historic landmark covers approximately 200 square meters and contains around 150 graves of these loyal canines, each marked with bronze plaques bearing their engraved names. Despite its simplicity, the cemetery holds significant cultural and historical importance, managed by the Clark Development Corporation since the 1990s. For those with a special connection to these noble animals, a visit offers a moment of reflection and gratitude for their service.

Spanning 40 hectares, it houses over 1,500 wildlife species, including lions, tigers, bears, monkeys, hyenas, jaguars, and more. It held its soft opening in December 2022 and has been successful ever since. The park actively encourages guests to interact with the animals. Some of the animals here are guaranteed to be tame, so everyone is encouraged to engage with them under proper supervision from their well-trained staff. Among the animals you’ll encounter are the Burmese python, which you can drape around your neck for a photo opportunity, and a baby white tiger or bleached tiger that you can feed milk to using a bottle. There are plenty of other animals to encounter here as well. This is one of the must-visit attractions in Clark, offering an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages. Your vacation is bound to be filled with enjoyable and exciting activities that will appeal to both children and adults.

15 BEST Pampanga Tourist Spots (Food, Heritage & Nature)

 alt=

The beautiful province of Pampanga has long been one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. This is simply because everything it offers comes close to everyone’s hearts. From its breathtaking natural wonders to its rich history and culture, exciting entertainment hubs, booming economy, grand festivals and celebrations, and most importantly, heavenly selections of food!

Historically speaking, Pampanga has proved to be one of the most important provinces in the country ever since the Spanish Colony. It was the first-ever province created by the Spaniards and therefore became the richest throughout the 333-year reign of Spain. With that being said, you can almost guarantee that every bit of Pampanga’s culture and tradition has a huge Spanish influence. Pampanga is also home to some of the Philippines’ best-known natural landmarks including Mt. Pinatubo, Mt. Arayat, and the mesmerizing Miyamit Falls!

Aside from its undoubtedly rich history, Pampanga is also one of the best-performing provinces in terms of economic success. Finally, Pampanga is also known as the “Culinary Capital of the Philippines” because several of our iconic Filipino cuisine dishes originated from the culinary genius of the Kapampangans. Heavenly dishes including Caldereta, Lengua Estofado , San Nicolas Cookies, Morcon, and most especially, the sinful Sisig all came from Pampanga. Some tourists from all over the world even visit the beautiful province just to taste the deliciously authentic dishes of Kapampangan Cuisine, I guess that just delivers the statement of how the Kapampangans mastered the art of cooking.

Pampanga is a complete package for those who want to explore a huge part of the Philippines’ history, culture, and natural beauty. There are several beautiful and exciting options to choose from and you will never run out of them when you’re in Pampanga. So, if you’re planning to visit the iconic province anytime soon then I’ve got your back! Here are the 15 Best Things to do in Pampanga!

What was once one of the most deadly and chilling natural catastrophes in the history of mankind is now a breathtaking natural tourist destination. This just shows how unpredictable Mother Nature can be. I’m talking about the story of Mt. Pinatubo.

Despite still being active after its deadly eruption in 1991, Mt. Pinatubo has been relatively quiet all these years. This allowed people to freely explore around the majestic volcano and the ruins it left behind. To this date, tourists have countless activities to choose from such as hiking, trekking, 4×4 rides along the routes of lahar flow, and visiting the famous Pinatubo Spa Town!

The best time to visit Mt. Pinatubo is during the summer so tourists can clearly witness how beautiful the mountain truly is. So don’t miss the chance! CHECK PINATUBO TOUR HERE

2. Clark Museum and 4D Theatre

Next up on the list is the newly renovated Clark Museum and 4D Theatre. The museum has been one of the most exciting and educational attractions in Pampanga for it was able to perfectly incorporate modern technology into the depiction of the province’s history and culture.

This huge museum is composed of 4 galleries consisting of extensive collections of historical and cultural artifacts such as samples from Mt. Pinatubo and Mt. Arayat, Kapampangan handicrafts, colonial remnants, depiction of grand festivals , and many more! It also consists of a 48-seater 4D Theatre which features a documentary film named “Risen from the Ashes”. This is about the iconic 1991 eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in a 4D experience. This film aims to let the world understand and experience the deadly eruption and how hard the Kapampangans fought to overcome it. CHECK THE BEST HOTELS IN CLARK HERE

She established her restaurant in 1974 which now has several branches across the province. Her “reinvention” of the Sisig dish enabled Angeles City to earn the title of “Sisig Capital of the Philippines”.

Discover the must-see Pampanga tourist spots, including the colorful festivities and gastronomic adventure in the Culinary Capital of the Philippines.

Pampanga is historically known as the former military base of the US army. Other than that, the province is best known for everything culinary because of Kapampangan’s intricate reinvention of dishes. Having greatly influenced by Spanish culture, expertise in cooking passes down from generation to generation.

The rising city of Clark in the Freeport Zone continues to flourish with the recent completion of the new Clark International Airport. The city is also home to various amusement parks, serving as international venues, with growing commercial and industrial ventures and investments.

What makes Pampanga one of the perfect escapes from the bustling Metro Manila is its 2-hour drive accessibility. The promising ongoing construction of the North-South Commuter Railway will eventually pave the way for more efficient transportation from the capital Manila.

Have a glimpse of the popular Pampanga tourist spots and exciting attractions in the culinary capital of the Philippines.

Table of Contents

1. Clark Hot Air Balloon Festival

The Clark hot Air Balloon festival is an annual gathering of flying enthusiasts that showcases skills and colorful hot air balloons, making it one of the top Pampanga tourist spots.

When you’re feeling adventurous and air condition permits, guests can also ride hot air balloons for discovery flights as well as tandem paragliding.

Guests gather as early as 4 am or 5 am during the Hot Air Balloon Festival. The grand parade of aircraft and ballons happens during these hours before flying the horizon in the morning, and the next time you chase them is from 5 pm to 6 pm.

At night, balloons are tethered, leaving them to glow in the dark skies, adding a unique impression during the festive nights.

The Hot Air Balloon Festival started in 1994, and the last festival was in 2020, before the global pandemic. As one of the highly anticipated Pampanga tourist spots, plans for a 2022 return is optimistic.

After your ride, you’ll begin to trek and pass across some bedrocks and surface streams, and some grasslands. You’ll then reach the volcano’s crater that is covered with water, forming a lake. Sometimes, the Pinatubo lake varies in color from bluish to greenish, depending on the climate season.

One way to get an in-depth understanding of Angeles’ heritage is through a tour visiting some of the most valuable sites in the area.

Clark Pampanga Tourist Spots

  • Pamintuan Mansion: Aside from the beautiful architecture and design both at its interior and exterior, the Pamintuan Mansion holds a loaded and valuable past – it is where the first president of the Philippines, Emilio Aguinaldo, spearheaded the celebration of the first anniversary of Philippine independence when he stood out on the balcony and waved the country’s flag with pride. Aside from exhibits, the museum grounds also host various activities such as art classes, seasonal exhibits, concerts, and performances.
  • Holy Rosary Parish Church: Formerly known as the Santo Rosario Church, Holy Rosary Parish Church boasts a grand structural design making it a favorite venue for photoshoots and weddings. But beyond the beauty, the church holds quite an unsavory past. It was built during the Spanish colonial era, by Filipinos who were made to undergo polo y servicos , a type of forced and unpaid labor. The backyard of the church was also an area where rebels and Filipino prisoners were executed and shot down.

Visit the Old Cowboy Town in El Kabayo

Clark Pampanga Tourist Spots

The El Kabayo Riding stables makes you feel as if you’ve traveled into the same Wild West sceneries you see in the movies, complete with the tumbleweeds, saloons – and especially the horses. I’m not really big on animal tourism but the horses in El Kabayo are very much cared for and maintained, not malnourished like the ones in Tagaytay – these one seemed really healthy and well-fed.  They offer horseback riding lessons here, both for children and adults all of which are looked after by trained guides. They even have returning guests who are learning how to ride to a more intermediate level. The area itself is lovely and the owners are really great – seems like they know a lot about horses and are quite passionate about them.
