Vera Tour: Swing Bridge Quayside Newcastle

You will begin the Vera Full-Day Tour of Northumberland Locations as you arrive in the Centre of Newcastle, where you’ll embark by coach to visit a wealth of memorable filming locations for Vera across the North East of England. DCI Vera Stanhope’s Police Station was set and filmed in Newcastle, vastly changing the City’s reputation being known for its industrial environment. A raft of gruesome murders took place across some of Northumberland’s beachside areas, and parts of the tour include great views of these crime-scenes.

The Vera full-day tour boasts a total of fifteen filming locations. During the full-day tour, we venture further into the crime setting by visiting the backcountry, which includes locations featured through series one to eight such as Dark Road, The Deer Hunters, Blood and Bone, and Darkwater.

Visit the filming location of the Shadows in the Sky episode where the victim plunges from the peak of a multi-storey car-park. Explore the area from Death of a Family Man where the body was recovered after it was discovered in the Tyne. You might also like to view where The Sea Glass scene was filmed showcasing the fishing trawler with a corpse waiting to be found.

There are a wealth of photo opportunities are available throughout the Vera Full-Day Tour of Northumberland Locations, and you will have the option of leaving the coach to get a much closer look at some of the gruesome scenes from the series.

Once the Vera Full-Day Tour of Northumberland Locations draws to a close you will arrive back in the Centre of Newcastle upon Tyne where the tour first began.

Your journey follows the coastline of Northumberland, lined with impressive castles, charming fishing villages and stunning landscapes. You will even be able to spot the Farne Islands, a seabird haven, along the way. Enjoy miles of sandy beaches…

One of the highlights of your day is a visit to Bamburgh Castle and a visit to the exhibition dedicated to “The Last Kingdom”, the hit TV show and global phenomenon!

On your return, if time allows, a short detour via the hinterland offers a spectacular contrast to the serene coastal views with the Cheviot Hills looming among the surrounding moorland and a brief glimpse of the historic capital of the county, Alnwick and its spectacular castle, home to the Dukes of Northumberland for over 700 years.

Tarot to tour sketch show Shuffle

Monday 3rd June 2024, 9:43am

  • Sketch show Tarot: Shuffle will tour in October and November 2024 , following a run at the Edinburgh Festival
  • They'll visit: Aberystwyth, London, Guildford, Brighton, Bath, York, Bristol, Reading, Exeter, Bangor, Salford, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham

Sketch group Tarot are to tour their new show Tarot: Shuffle this autumn, following a run at the Edinburgh Festival .

Their third hour, this show - which stars Adam Drake , Kath Hughes and Ed Easton - will play in the Pleasance Courtyard from the 31st July until 25th August at 9:30pm, before the gang take the show on tour across the UK in the autumn.

The blurb explains: " Tarot: Shuffle is a 'startlingly live' (Guardian) show that asks the audience to become the latest member of Tarot , as the super-group casts off their reputation as the royalty of 'dark comedy'. Together the three nighty-clad sketch-zealots shuffle on stage and weave an absurd and wildly inventive show full of hair-raising characters and rug-pulling punchlines; a surprisingly joyful and silly hour, where the relationship between audience and performer is blurred, Tarot: Shuffle is a show so off the cuff, live, and 'in the room' you'll wonder if they're making it all up on the spot."

Tarot say: "We would call it improv but we've got some self-respect: this is sketch in nighties. Come watch a new show of big, daft and, above all, live comedy being conjured up in front of your very eyes."

Saturday 5th October: Aberystwyth, Arad Goch Theatre 21st-26th October: London, Soho Theatre (Upstairs) Wednesday 6 November: Guildford, Bellerby Studio, G Live Thursday 7 November: Brighton, The Old Market Friday 8 November: Bath, Burdall's Yard Saturday 9 November: York, Theatre@41 Friday 15 November: Bristol, The Wardrobe Theatre Saturday 16 November: Reading, South Street Arts Centre Tuesday 19 November: Exeter, Phoenix Friday 22 November: Bangor, Pontio Saturday 23 November: Salford, New Adelphi Theatre Tuesday 26 November: Newcastle, The Stand Wednesday 27 November: Edinburgh, The Stand Thursday 28 November: Glasgow, The Stand Friday 29 November: Birmingham, Midlands Arts Centre

Nicki Minaj’s tour goes in unexpected direction after ‘minute’s silence’ for Princess Diana

author image

Nicki Minaj (L) and Princess Diana (R)

As Nicki Minaj fans struggle to keep up with her chaotic UK tour, her latest tribute to Diana, Princess of Wales , has to be the most bizarre moment yet.

The Super Bass hitmaker kicked off the UK stint of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour to a turbulent start after she missed her first gig in Manchester at Co-op Live due to getting arrested for possession of ‘soft drugs’ in the Netherlands.

After being released with the penalty of a fine, Nicki touched down in England and attended her first show at the Birmingham Resorts World Arena on May 26 which took its own confusing turn.

In a video captured by @jameliaa_x on TikTok , the 41-year-old rapper was handing her mic to members of the crowd to say where in the world they came from.

One group proclaimed they were from Wales which inspired Nicki to pay a heartfelt tribute to her ‘dear friend’ the late Princess Diana who died in 1997 when Nicki was just 14 years old.

‘Wales,’ she began in a strange posh English accent. ‘It always reminds me of a dear friend of mine, well she’s not here anymore, but the Princess of Wales.’

@jameliaa_x shes so unserious😭😭 #nickiminaj #pinkfriday2tour #pinkfriday2 ♬ original sound – 𝐉𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐀✨

At her mention, the crowd erupted into cheers.

‘Let’s have a moment of silence for her,’ the Grammy-nominated artist then said, leading to slightly reduced noise in the arena for a few seconds.

She then promptly moved on, although she kept the baffling British accent up for a while longer on stage. The out-of-the-blue tribute has, naturally, left fans extremely confused.

‘Not the moment of silence for Lady Di,’ user @emmakirk commented.

‘Nicki Minaj holding a minute’s silence for Princess Diana is not what I ever expected to see in my life but is absolutely essential viewing for us Di fans,’ @shirlpuzz added over on X.

‘Absolutely obsessed with this,’ @rubynaldrett added.

‘Everyone in the arena was so confused but we did the silence for her,’ @barbiematique shared.

To give Nicki credit where it’s due, she does have a track record of making references to Princess Diana.

In 2023 she released a song with rapper Ice Spice titled Princess Diana which charted at number four on the US Billboard top 100.

‘Nowadays, I be duckin’ them cameras/And they hype that I’m up on them banners/Callin’ my phone, but they know I don’t answer (Why?)/In the hood I’m like Princess Diana,’ the lyrics go, seemingly a nod to Diana’s difficult relationship with the paparazzi.

The Barbie World singer will perform in London and Glasgow before returning to Manchester for her re-scheduled Co-op Live date.

Earlier this week she took to Instagram to tell her followers that her tour was deliberately being sabotaged following her arrest.

She wrote : ‘They’ve been trying to stop me from coming to every show. They took my bags before I could see them. Put it on the plane.

‘Now saying they’re waiting on customs. This is what it looks like when ppl are paid big money to try to sabotage a tour after all else failed. Everything they’ve done is illegal.’
