Le circuit national des perchistes clôturera la saison en salle 2023 samedi avec le Perche Elite Tour de Rouen. Margot Chevrier voudra faire en sorte de finir sur une bonne note, tandis que le revanchard Ethan Cormont se frottera au champion de France Alioune Sene et au gratin américain.

Le Perche Elite Tour de Rouen sera diffusé en direct et en intégralité samedi dès 19h45 sur Athlé TV et sur les applications AthléTV Apple et Android, ainsi que sur la plateforme L’équipe Live dès 21h, avec François-Xavier de Châteaufort et Marion Lotout aux commentaires. L'accès à Athlé TV est 100 % gratuit pour les licenciés de la saison 2022-2023 !

Une semaine après les championnats d’Europe en salle d’Istanbul, les perchistes s’envoleront une dernière fois à Rouen samedi soir avant de se tourner vers la prochaine saison estivale. Pour une bonne partie d’entre eux, la soirée dans la Kindarena aura un goût de revanche. Ainsi, Ethan Cormont (ASA Maisons-Alfort), perturbé dans ses marques par un cameraman indélicat au moment de s’attaquer à 5,80 m lors de la finale en Turquie, et le Hollandais Menno Vloon , resté à quai lors des qualifs, voudront achever leur hiver avec une bonne performance. Champion de France, Alioune Sene (CA Montreuil 93) voudra, à l’inverse, surfer sur sa bonne dynamique de Clermont-Ferrand. Mathieu Collet (EA Grenoble 38) et Mehdi Amar Rouana (EFCVO) pourraient profiter de l’occasion pour améliorer leur record personnel.

Du côté de la concurrence internationale, le tout frais vice-champion d’Europe Emmanouil Karalis sera de la partie, tout comme deux Américains de grand talent. Chris Nilsen avait établi le record des Etats-Unis en salle ici-même l’an passé, avec un saut avec 6,05 m, et revient sur les lieux de son exploit. Son compatriotes Sam Kendricks , double champion du monde, possède également des références supérieures à 6 m. De quoi assurer le grand show habituel dans la capitale normande.

Un remix des France

Chez les femmes, Margot Chevrier (Nice Côte d’Azur Athlétisme), cinquième de la finale à Istanbul, a le record de France de Ninon Chapelle (EA Cergy-Pontoise) dans le viseur (4,73 m en salle) pour valider un nouveau cap dans sa progression régulière depuis deux ans. La détentrice actuelle de la marque de référence nationale sera également là, avec l’objectif de faire monter sa barre de la saison, actuellement posée à 4,45 m, alors qu’elle se sent « en forme » depuis quelques semaines.

Marie-Julie Bonnin (Stade Bordelais), dans le dur ces derniers temps, voudra se faire plaisir avant de partir en vacances. La locale Elise Russis (Stade Sottevillais 76) pourra compter sur le soutien de son public à domicile pour faire progresser son record personnel (4,30 m à ce jour), tandis que Alix Dehaynain (Lille Métropole Athlétisme), Albane Dordain (CA Balma) et Charlotte Iva (Clermont AA) donneront à une coloration de finale des championnats de France à ce concours.

Ej obiena claims year’s 1st gold at perche elite tour stage in roubaix.

The Philippines’ Ernest John “EJ” Obiena has won his first gold medal of the year 2023 at the Perche en Or Roubaix stage of the Perche Elite Tour in France.

The World No. 3 in Men’s Pole Vault easily cleared 5.82 meters on his first attempt to win the championship title of the Golden Pole on January 28 (January 29 Philippine time).

EJ Obiena first cleared 5.55m in one try, and passed 5.75m on his third attempt, before clearing 5.82 meters in one go to claim the No. 1 spot on the podium.

The Philippines’ champion tried but failed to clear 5.90m in three tries, but still bested China’s Jie Yao who placed second at 5.75m, and France’s Ethan Cormont at third with 5.65m at the Men’s Final event at the Stab Velodrome.

“How easy for Ernest Obiena! The Filipino offers himself a prestigious victory in the Perche Or de Roubaix competition with 5.82 m!” posted event broadcaster Fédération Française d’Athlétisme.

The 27-year-old Filipino athlete achieved his feat and improved his season-best record just three days after his 5.77m silver finish at the indoor season opener of the International Springer-Meeting in Cottbus, Germany.

In 2022, Obiena won 12 gold medals. He claimed the silver at the Perche Elite Tour outdoor stage in Rouen.

Obiena holds Asia’s Record at 5.94 meters, established during his historic bronze medal win at the World Athletics 2022 in Oregon.

EJ Obiena will next compete at the Mondo Classic in Uppsala on February 2. He will also lead the Philippine contingent at the 2023 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships scheduled from February 10 to 12 in Kazakhstan.

JEUDI 22 Février 2024 ALL STAR PERCHE by SCC DE RETOUR POUR LA 9ÈME ÉDITION MAISON DES SPORTS DE CLERMONT-FERRAND

Après une édition 2023 exceptionnelle couronnée par un record du monde avec 6m22, Armand DUPLANTIS nous a confirmé sa présence à Clermont-ferrand pour l’édition 2024. Cela sera probablement sa dernière compétition sur le sol français avant les Jeux Olympiques de Paris 2024.

En l’absence sur le sautoir de son ami et organisateur Renaud LAVILLENIE, qui est au repos forcé cet hiver pour soigner ses ischios-jambiers, il sera évidement l’homme de toute les attentes, accompagné par les meilleurs perchistes du mo- ment pour une répétition générale à tous juste 5 mois des JO. Une compétition à ne pas rater!

Depuis le 25 février 2016, date de la première édition du ALL STAR PERCHE organisé par Renaud Lavillenie, la compétition n’a cessée de progresser et d’évoluer à Clermont-ferrand.

Au fil des années, s’appuyant sur l’expérience d’athlète de Renaud Lavillenie et s’entourant de professionnels de l’organisation, le meeting s’est imposé comme l’une des références mondiale annuelle pour le saut à la perche. A plusieurs reprises, le concours international fut le concours le plus relevé du monde en terme de densité de performances, notamment en 2018 avec 7 perchistes à 5m88 et plus, et avec en récompense le record du monde en salle le 24 février 2023 avec les 6m22 du suédois Armand Duplantis.

En parallèle du concours international, le All Star Perche est devenu l’occasion de promouvoir l’athlétisme à travers la pratique du saut à la perche. En effet, il y a eu depuis 2016 lors des différents éditions un moment découverte du saut à la perche pour les scolaires, une après-midi pour l’UNSS, un temps d’initiation pour les partenaires, un concours des anciens champions de saut à la perche, un concours découverte pour des champions d’autres sport et aussi la journée du Perche Elite Tour avec des concours de tous niveau.

Un programme qui s’adapte chaque année avec un succès garanti.

L'Univers Perche by Le Dévoluy

On January 13, 2024, Dévoluy will host a stage of the Crédit Mutuel Perche Élite Tour, an international pole vaulting competition , christened “Univers Perche by Le Dévoluy” . Supported by the Gap Hautes-Alpes Athlétisme club, the Dénivoluy association, the Tourist Office and the Dévoluy commune, the competition will be held at the Superdévoluy sports center.

What is Le Perche Élite Tour? First and foremost, it’s a national circuit that will feature 5 stages in 2024. The one in Dévoluy will open the season and will be the only one offered in the south of France (the only one in the mountains too), among Bordeaux, Lille, Clermont-Ferrand or Rouen. This competition brings together the world’s and France’s greatest pole vaulters, who go there above all to prepare their season and the 2024 Olympics as best they can. More than a competition, it’s also a real show where the avalanche of records is often associated with a spectacle for aficionados of the discipline or curious passers-by. Many headliners will be present, they are listed below.

Among the men, the show should be up to the expected athletes. Chinese Jie Yao with his 5m82 should do well. So should Ethan Cormont, who came 5th in this year’s European indoor competition. Baptiste Thiery, elite 2023 French vice-champion with a record of 5.72m, and local Robin Emig, 2023 European vice-champion, could share the podium.

On the women’s side, on the vault, Ninon Chapelle will be defending her French record of 4m75. The athlete, 6 times French Elite Champion and 13 times selected for the French team should occupy the top step of the podium. Also to watch out for, Marie Julie Bonnin, European U23 Champion in 2023 and 3 selections for the French Senior team, with a personal best of 4m55. Albane Dordain and Bérénice Petit, Vices World University Champions, can also claim a podium.
