About Traveller's Joy

Traveller's Joy is situated in Colesberg, halfway on route between Cape Town and Johannesburg, the perfect stop over for the tired tourist, is our grand old, yet modern guesthouse. This house was built in 1840 and restored in 2005. The thick walls, high ceilings and beautiful restored wooden floors, ensure a cool and pleasant atmosphere. Although this house is part of our National heritage, we have changed the inside of the house, that each room is en-suite, has its own separate outside entrance and patio, offering each guest with privacy. Our rooms are spacious, all with tea and

Traveller's Joy is situated in Colesberg, halfway on route between Cape Town and Johannesburg, the perfect stop over for the tired tourist, is our grand old, yet modern guesthouse. This house was built in 1840 and restored in 2005. The thick walls, high ceilings and beautiful restored wooden floors, ensure a cool and pleasant atmosphere. Although this house is part of our National heritage, we have changed the inside of the house, that each room is en-suite, has its own separate outside entrance and patio, offering each guest with privacy. Our rooms are spacious, all with tea and coffee facilities, fridge, air-conditioned, SABC and a DStv channel to choose from, luxuriously furnished with comfortable double and queen-size beds. We also have an ideal family unit consisting of two inter-leading rooms, one with three single beds and the other with a double bed en-suite bathroom. Our executive unit also called the Sun Room is a large spacious room with a queen size and a single bed, mini lounge suite, TV, Fridge, Microwave and air-conditioned. It also has a breakfast nook, limited cutlery and a sink area. We have safe and secure, off the street parking. We are within walking distance of all the restaurants. Our guests enjoy this early evening stroll after a long and tiresome journey. Our guesthouse is named after a plant, by the name of Traveller's Joy, Clematis Brachiates that grows wild in our area, well known for its healing powers and soothing of tired muscles. This is exactly what we want our guests to experience, to have a pleasant stay and continue their journey well rested.

We had a last minute addition to our party of four, and when I contacted the venue for assistance in booking the additional person they were very accommodating. They upgraded us to a family suite that had 5 beds at no additional charge. I would definitely recommend them. The facility is close to the N2, and very easy to find. The facility was neat and clean. They were very helpful with local restaurant information.

My family of five had a wonderful stay at Traveller’s Joy. Our hostess Marie made contact with us before we arrived and welcomed us warmly without any complications at all. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable, and we had a delicious Karoo-style dinner at the Plattelander down the road. We will definitely stay there again.

Marie is gasvry, vriendelik en gaan uit haar pad om gaste welkom te laat voel!

Marie is hospitable, friendly and goes out of her way to make guests feel welcome!

Marie provided information on load shedding schedules early in the morning which helped a lot with our planning. She also goes out of her way to make it as convenient as possible in our (no power and water) existence. The rooms with their old world original wooden floors are much nicer and bigger than in the photos!

Oornag in Colesberg.

Ons het by Travellers Joy oornag op pad Kaap toe. Laat inboek was glad nie 'n probleem nie en ons is vriendelik by die hek ontvang en na ons kamer vergesel. Overnight in Colesberg.

We spent the night at Travelers Joy on our way to Cape Town. Late check-in was not a problem at all and we were kindly received at the gate and escorted to our room. The family unit is spacious with a small bar fridge, microwave, cutlery and coffee/tea, as well as fresh milk and a mug of water. Lovely warm bedding and electric blankets for the cold! Secure parking behind a car gate. We had a nice and warm shower and slept, ready to continue the long journey. We would love to stay at Travelers Joy again. Thank you very much!

Lovely character house with original 200yr old floors. Modern amenities, very comfy. Even has a small wind-pump filled reservoir for a cool down dip. Within walking distance of a great restaurant. We had a Collie with us that was welcomed and could run around freely. Great place!

Clean and comfortable. Host Marie was really friendly.

When I first arrived Marie was waiting for me outside to great me. Electricity was off due to fault in Colesberg but she kept me updated. It was cold and rainy and one of the services they offer is you can order food for delivery to your room which was great. Steeped in history these rooms are actually a national monument, so quite the experience.

The room was very clean, neat and beautifully decorated. The bed was super comfortable. Marie the hostess was amazing. I would highly recommend this as a stay-over or even a longer vacation destination. My large dog travelled with me, and the facility was able to accommodate him as well. Will definitely make this my go-to place to stay in Colesberg in future.

Ons het geboek vir 'n spesifieke kamer wat geadverteer was as 'n koninggrootte bed, en was toe as gevolg van ander besprekings in 'n ander kamer ingesit wat 'n baie klein bed gehad het. Geraas van vragmotors die hele nag en geriewe nie op standaard.

It was old-worldly pleasant.

Lovely place.

Lovely place which was easy to find. They had everything that we needed and there was ample space for our vehicle and trailer behind locked gates. Perfect for an overnight stop between home and your final destination. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Goeie diens en moderne kamers.

Marie was uiters behulpsaam en die kamer was skoon en stofvry, nieteenstaande die feit dat hulle besig was met opknapping. Gemaklike bed het gesorg vir goeie rus. Veilige parkering 'n groot plus. Gaan eet gerus ook by die Horse en Mill, lekker kos en atmosfeer.

Good service and modern rooms.

Marie was extremely helpful and the room was clean and dust free despite the fact that they were renovating. Comfortable bed ensured good rest. Secure parking a big plus. Feel free to also eat at the Horse and Mill, good food and atmosphere.

Die beddegoed was nie op standaard, die kussings op bed het 'n gat in, vuilgoeddrom stukkend, kraan by my seun hul se kamer was stukkend asook ons kamer se stortkop.

Vir die geld wat ons betaal het is die kamer glad nie op standaard. As Travellers Joy verder gaste wil ontvang sal hulle die kamer en beddegoed moet opknap.

The bedding was not up to standard, the pillows on the bed had a hole in them, the rubbish bin was broken, the tap in my son's room was broken as well as the shower head in our room.

For the money we paid, the room is not up to standard at all. If Travelers Joy wants to receive further guests, they will have to refurbish the room and bedding.

Die vullisdrom is 'n rottang vullisdrom wat losgetrek het, dus vervang met 'n nuwe ene. Die stortkop was nie stukkend nie, ons het dit getoets en gevind dat dit slegs los gedraai was, dit is intussen reggestel. Rustig, skoon en naby restaurante.

Traveller's Joy is baie naby aan die in- en uitgange na die snelweg. Dit is skoon en gerieflik om te oornag net veilige parkering. Die ontvangs was baie vriendelik en en ons het dadelik geweet waar alles is.

Quiet, clean and close to restaurants.

Traveller's Joy is very close to the entrances and exits to the highway. It is clean and convenient to spend the night only secure parking. The reception was very friendly and we immediately knew where everything was.

Heerlik! Net wat ons gesoek het na 'n lang dag op pad met baie teëspoed.

Ons gasvrou het vroegoggend geskakel om ons bespreking te bevestig. Agv teëspoed op pad het sy uit haar pad gegaan om seker te maak dat een van die plaaslike restaurante se kombuise oop gebly het, sodat ons nog aandete kon gaan eet. Heerlike skoon akkommodasie met persoonlike diens. Self koue water en melk in die yskas. Ons kom weer, maar sal die keer vroegtydig bespreek.

Delicious! Just what we were looking for after a long day on the road with lots of adversity.

Our hostess called early in the morning to confirm our reservation. Due to adversity on the way, she went out of her way to make sure that one of the local restaurants' kitchens remained open, so that we could still have dinner. Lovely clean accommodation with personal service. Even cold water and milk in the fridge. We will come again, but this time we will book in advance.

Gemaklik en goeie waarde vir geld.

Ons het 'n baie gemaklik en goed toegeruste eenheid gehad. Daar is egter verf wat afdop in die badkamer en teen een muur. So 'n bietjie onderhoud nodig, maar andersins baie netjies. Goeie waarde vir geld vir oornag. Die eenheid is egter goed toegerus vir 'n langer verblyf ook.

We had a very comfortable and well equipped unit. However, there is peeling paint in the bathroom and on one wall. Needs a little maintenance, but otherwise very neat. Good value for money for overnight stay. However, the unit is well equipped for a longer stay as well.

Teleurstellend.

Ek't die blou kamer bespreek volgens die foto en nie die kamer gekry nie. Daar is ook nie 'n swembad nie soos wat daar gese was nie.

Disappointing.

I booked the blue room according to the photo and did not get the room. There is also not a swimming pool as was said.

Needs maintenance (cracked walls and peeling paint, untidy electrical wiring). Considering the wide variety of accommodations in Colesberg this these facts may impact negatively on the choice to stay here.

Short stay.

Returning from CPT we arrived later than planned. Our host was very accommodating and friendly. The room was very neat and clean. Loved the shower and pool after a long days travel. Would highly recommend the establishment!

Stairs without rails lead to broken ankle.

I am writing on behalf of my parents, Willem and Chrissie McDonald, who spent the night there on February 14. It was a rainy day and after my mother got the key from reception she slipped and broke her ankle walking down the stairs to the car. There were no rails or warning about wet or slippery tiles. The owners were very helpful and accompanied her to the hospital and helped her go to their room again in the evening. However, what bothers me is that when we booked online there weren't actually photos that showed what it looked like outside. No steps etc. My parents feel it is not at all suitable for elderly people, too many steps apparently all over the property.

It was fine for a one night stopover, which is all I needed.

The hospitality of the owner, Marie, is very welcoming and friendly.

Marie was an excellent host. We were looking for a stopover on our way to Cape Town that offered value, comfort and security. Marie arranged supper for us from a nearby restaurant that the Guest House has a relationship with and after a good night's rest, we were on our way again early the next morning. We didn't really have time to explore the area or facilities, but the guest house was exactly what we were looking for. It is an older building with all the character of such a building.

Great accommodation at an affordable price. Secure premises and our host Marie was fantastic.

Loved how clean and comfy it was. Marie was so friendly and was always responsive.

Where do I start. I was warmly welcomed with the most friendliest Host.Marie is a very friendly and professional host .I immediatly felt at home .My room was so so neat and tidy .I was so amazed with the style and comfort of the room.Everyrhing was as the photos advertised . I will make use of Rhis Guest house again .

OUR MINISTER

Dr. Joseph Lozovyy was born into a Christian family in Elektrostal, Moscow Region, and was raised in a pastor’s home. From the age of fifteen, he began actively participating in the music ministry of the Baptist Church in Mytishchi, where his father served as a pastor, and also played in the orchestra of the Central Moscow Baptist Church. From 1989, he participated in various evangelistic events in different cities of Moscow Region and beyond. From 1989 to 1992, as a member of the choir and orchestra “LOGOS,” he participated in evangelistic and charitable concerts, repeatedly performing on the stages of the Moscow State Conservatory, the Bolshoi Theatre, and other concert halls in Russia and abroad. In 1992, his family moved to the United States. In 2007, after completing a full course of spiritual and academic preparation, Joseph moved to Dallas, Texas, to engage in church ministry. In 2008, he founded the Russian Bible Church to preach to the Russian-speaking population living in Dallas, Texas.
