15 Best Cabo San Lucas Tours
Cabo San Lucas – or Cape Saint Luke in English – is one of Mexico’s most popular resort cities and is located on the most southern portion of the Baja California Peninsula.
For decades, Cabo San Lucas has drawn tourists from around the world, who come to bask on its magnificent beaches and swim in its sparkling waters.
The area is full of resorts and accommodations for travelers of every age, interest, and budget; whether you’re looking for quiet sunsets or all-night parties, you’ll likely find it nearby.
The coastal waters are famed for their sport-fishing as well, with species including the elusive striped and black marlin and a number of different shark species as well.
Below are 15 of the best tours in Cabo San Lucas.
1. Cabo Submariner’s Adventure
There aren’t many places in the world where tourists can descend beneath the waves in an actual submarine, but in Cabo, this unique experience is an option.
You and your travel companions will buckle up and dip into the clear waters of the Sea of Cortez in a 60-foot submarine, from which you’ll be able to see the diverse array of fish and marine critters that call the area home.
It’s a diverse ecosystem; while enjoying the view from the air-conditioned sub, your guide will describe what it is that you’re viewing.
It’s a truly unique tour, and one you shouldn’t miss.
2. 2-Hour Whale Watching Tour
Every year between December and April, the waters off Cabo San Lucas play host to migrating humpback whales.
Many of the females come to the area to give birth and nurse their young; on this two-hour tour, you’ll have an excellent opportunity to see these massive and magnificent creatures.
The tour includes a quick safety briefing and life jacket, water, and light snacks, but check in advance because photographs are extra.
The tour is given from a sturdy inflatable boat; you’ll be able to listen to the whales with underwater devices specifically made for whale-watchers too.
View Prices & Reviews
3. Cabo Animal Sanctuary Tour
Full of an exotic array of animals that have been rescued from the wild due to injury or abandonment, Wild Canyon Kingdom is a great place to spend a day getting up-close-and-personal with some species of animals you may never have the chance to see again.
You’ll be led by a knowledgeable guide who will impress you with his or her knowledge of the wild world. You’ll also learn what brought these particular animals here.
A few of the tour’s highlights are iguanas, prairie dogs, and parrots.
It’s possible to touch some of them, though it’s probably not a good idea to pet the crocodile, as they tend to consider human appendages snacks.
4. Tandem Parasailing Adventure
Parasailing is an excellent way to get up into the air and get a bird’s eye view of the beautiful scenery below.
It’s one of the most adrenaline-filled and exhilarating activities you’ll ever do, but it’s surprisingly safe and inexpensive.
Your pre-flight meeting will include an introductory safety course; from there, you’ll head via boat to some of Cabo’s most scenic areas – like Pelican Rock and Lover’s beach.
You’ll stay aloft for around 10 minutes and reach hundreds of feet into the air. Take your camera and snap a few high-altitude selfies, and don’t forget to look for dolphins, whales and sea lions below.
5. Camel Safari
If you’re tired of the crowds and want to do something unique, consider a guided camel excursion along a scenic beach.
At 15 minutes, it’s not exactly a Lawrence of Arabia grade trek, but you’ll get an interesting glimpse into the exotic beasts, as well as some interesting cultural highlights.
The tour includes a famous turtle breeding area. If you’re there in winter, you may catch a glimpse of whales offshore as well.
The tour is full of amazing scenery and even includes lunch, a tortilla-making demonstration, and a tequila tasting.
There really aren’t any other tours that offer such an eclectic mix of activities.
6. Glass-Bottom Boat Tour
If being submerged in a submarine and snorkeling in waters full of large, toothy predators isn’t exactly your cup of tea, then consider this glass-bottom boat tour instead.
You’ll stay safe and dry while still viewing many of the area’s most colorful fish and sea creatures.
The tour is great for those with little ones and includes stops at The Arch, Land’s End and Pirate’s Cove.
Your captain will give you a running narrative of the things you’re seeing; one of the favorites is the colony of sea lions that are usually frolicking in the surf or napping on the rocky coast.
Photos, snacks, and refreshments aren’t included.
7. Shared Sunset Sailing Cruise
Cabo sunsets are amazing no matter where you view them from, but there’s something extra special about witnessing one from the deck of a gently rolling sailboat.
The tour starts with a cruise past Land’s End, Sunset Beach, and The Arch. From there, your captain will position the boat at the optimum location from which to watch the sun dip behind the horizon.
Tour size is limited to create an intimate atmosphere, and yummy appetizers and an open bar are included.
Transportation to and from the dock isn’t included, but ask the staff where you’re staying to help you find a ride.
8. 3 ½ -Hour Canyon Bungee Jump
Bungee jumping is another popular activity with fit and fearless adrenaline junkies, and with its deep gorges and canyons, the country around Cabo is made for it.
The tour takes place in El Tule Canyon. You’ll get a thorough safety briefing and all the equipment you need to have a safe and exciting experience.
If you’re staying in Cabo’s central tourist area, the tour includes door-to-door transportation. After you’ve all taken the great plunge into the canyon hundreds of feet below, you’ll have a chance to relax at a nearby restaurant and enjoy an adult beverage or two to get that heart rate back down.
9. 1-Hour Guided Wave-Runner Tour
From submarines and zip-lines to parasailing and glass-bottom boats, Cabo has more than its fair share of unique and exhilarating tours; this wave-runner tour is another that’ll make memories that won’t soon be forgotten.
You’ll get a course on how to handle the powerful machine safely, and a life jacket before you head out.
The tour is limited to groups of five wave-runners. Some of the attractions include dolphins, turtles, sea lions and an amazing array of fish species too.
Some wave-runners are built for one passenger while others carry two, so it’s perfect even if some of your travel companions don’t feel confident driving.
10. Half-Day Kayak and Snorkel Tour to Santa Maria and Chileno Bay
This half-day tour is a great option for those looking to distance themselves from the overcrowded tourist areas and do a bit of communing with Mother Nature.
Santa Maria and Chilen Bay are some of the area’s most scenic destinations. On this 3 ½-hour tour, you’ll see some amazing natural wonders like steep, jagged cliffs plunging into the sea and an underwater ecosystem that’s noted for its amazing diversity of colorful sea life.
The kayaks feature glass bottoms, so even if you choose to sit out the tour’s snorkeling portion, you’ll still get a great view of what’s below.
11. Migriño ATV Beach Tour
The Baja Peninsula is one of Mexico’s most scenic and natural areas and there’s no better way to see it than via a guided ATV tour.
The peninsula is full of dunes, cliffs and scrubby forested areas that are perfect for ATVs.
Before heading out, you’ll get a safety orientation from your bi-lingual guide, then you’ll head out into the wild in an area that’s often referred to as Mexico’s Outback.
You may see a few animals along the way, and some towering cacti as well.
Though ATVs are relatively safe, you may want to consider purchasing additional insurance. Park entry and environmental fees aren’t included.
12. Cabo Off-Road Adventure
This Cabo off-road adventure tour begins with a drive along the peninsula’s Pacific coast to a private ranch, where you’ll meet your guide and get a pre-trip briefing.
Then you’ll head out into the Baja, which is nearly pristine in this area, making the sights you’ll see uniquely rare and beautiful.
Canyons, beaches and rocky hills are also on the itinerary; some of the terrain will test the vehicles’ ability and give guests a dose of adrenaline like few other tours will.
The tour ends with a stop at a local cantina, where guests can indulge in a few drinks and talk about the highlights.
13. Photo Tour of Todos Santos “The Magic Town”
The Baja Peninsula’s Todos Santos – or Magic Town – is a great place to see the area’s unique cultural heritage and natural beauty.
Local hotel pickup and drop-off are included. The guided walking tour will lead guests through the area’s historic sites, like a Jesuit mission-style church, The Tropic of Cancer Monument, and another monument built to the gray whales that flock to the area’s waters during the winter months.
You’ll have time to stroll through some local shops too, which include a coffee bean roaster, blanket making facility, and a candy shop that’s always a big hit – especially for those with a sweet tooth.
14. 4-Hour Zip-Line Outing in Wild Canyon
If you’re ready to see the sights from the perspective of a soaring bird, then this four-hour zip-line tour of Wild Canyon is a must.
The canyon is in the center of an arid, desert-like area but features a lush oasis at the bottom.
In addition to unobstructed views of the amazing landscape, you’ll see the shimmering Sea of Cortez.
Whether it’s your first zip-line or you’re an old pro, you’ll get a thorough safety briefing before heading out.
Lines of different height are available, the tallest of which reaches nearly 2,700 feet above the canyon floor.
15. Luxury Yacht Cruise
Though most of us will never be rich and famous, it doesn’t mean that we can’t experience a little luxury once in a while.
This luxury yacht cruise is a special and unique opportunity to see the splendor of the Baja Peninsula and the Sea of Cortez from the deck of a boat that’s usually reserved for high rollers.
The tour visits Santa Maria and Chileno Bay. Activities include snorkeling and stand-up paddle boarding if you’d like to get a bit of exercise.
If you’d rather stay on board, that’s OK too. The boat has plenty of shaded seating areas and includes a light lunch and open bar.

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
Located at the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California Peninsula, in the state of Baja California Sur. It includes the two towns of Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo connected by a twenty-mile Resort Corridor of beach-front properties and championship golf courses. The area was remote and rural until the late 20th century, when the Mexican government began to develop Cabo San Lucas for tourism, which then spread east to the municipal seat. The main attraction is without doubt the climate and geography, where desert meets the sea, along with an incredible number of fantastic Things to do in Cabo , Tours , Adventure Tours , sport fishing, resorts and golf. Tourism is by far the main economic activity with over four million visitors per year. Over 2 million visits are from the United States.
The growth in San Jose del Cabo has been regulated to outside of the town center, especially to the south where the beaches are, leaving the historic town center quiet and relatively unchanged. There are still cobblestone streets, adobe houses, jacaranda trees and a central square in front of a church that dates from the 1700s, where people still gather in the evening when it is cooler. A number of the large houses in the center date from the 19th century, and most of these have been converted into restaurants, art galleries and shops selling everything from fine handcrafts, silver, local gemstones and souvenirs. The art scene in the town is well-developed because of tourism and people with vacation homes. These shops carry high end paintings, sculptures in from traditional Mexican, Mexican contemporary and international artisans and artists. During the high season from October to May, these galleries stay open late into the night. Every Thursday the Cabo Art Walk event takes places where locals, artist and visitors meet in an unforgettable local Vibe Ambiance with Music, Dance, Food and Art. The town has resisted the addition of large shopping malls and chain stores. There is also some colonial era architecture as well, but this style has more in common with colonial towns to the north into the United States rather than the center and south of Mexico.

Transportation in Los Cabos
For your arrival and departure transportation the best way to go is a precontracted transportation service that is available in shared and private options. Getting your transportation prior to arrival has many benefits, including saving time, saving Money, safety and comfort. Another option is the Airport Taxi or shuttle Bus with extended waiting periods getting your ticket, waiting for a Bus to fill or a bit more expensive private taxi transportation option. For you way back to the Airport you will consider only a taxi. Due to local Government regulations the only service available for in destination transportation that has not been pre-contracted is the Local Taxi supported by the very strong taxi union. For a pre-contracted transportation services, you will find many options online, the difference in pricing is usually always combined with the quality and age of the vehicle, service and safety. Another option, already being in your Hotel and destination, is the not yet legalized Uber. Currently Uber and local taxi Unions and Government are in a kind of a “turf war”, the Uber will not be able to enter a Hotel and is circulating without local government permission, so in many Hotels you would need to leave the Hotel and get Your Uber in the street, if detected you run the risk of getting followed by the Union and local police and will be asked to get into the Taxi for your transportation without having a choice. In most Hotels a local Government inspector is checking the permits for transportation prior to entering the property. The local Bus System is not very developed and the buses are on the older side. The best, safest and smooth option is to consider pre-contracting your transportation needs prior to arrival.

What to bring along in clothing for your Vacation in Cabo?
Apart of your bathing suit it can be challenging to think about what to pack for your vacation in Los Cabos. We outline some recommendations for you to make sure you have everything packed to not miss an adventure or a tour during your Vacation.
Off Road Tours – We suggest to bring along clothing that can get dirty and dusty, old T-Shirts, long pants, closed sport shoes that also can get dirty. No designer clothing or shoes, expensive clothing. This is an adventure where you will get dirty and good clothing can get ruined.
Adventure Tours – For Horseback Riding and Camel Rides bring along long pants and closed shoes. For Zip Lining and Rappelling also closed shoes are necessary in addition to a T-Shirt that can get dirty, at times the Zip Lines drop water in combination with grease from the lines it can ruin a good Shirt.
Water and Boat Tours – bring along shoes that you can take off very easy and preferable with an anti-slip sole. In many Boats you may have to take off your shoes, in others you can leave them on but water can be on surfaces and make this slippery.
All Tours – consider extra clothing for changing after your adventures, Biodegradable Sunscreen, Bug Spray, Sunglasses and hats should be part of your packing.
Dining – Most resorts and restaurants ask for a casual dress code, closed shoes and no T-Shirts or Flip Flops. If you want to make sure not to be denied access, bring along some dress shoes and casual shirts and long pants.

Oscar was the best guide for safety...information and fun. Clean facility and an array of machines to choose from.
Cactus tours picked us up on time at 9am in a clean van right at our doorstep. We signed up for the side by sides/razors but once we got there we upgraded to the Maverick turbo charged which was an additional $300 per vehicle. We proceeded to a locker where we put our valuables. The upgrade also got us a private tour for our group of six people. Leon was our guide. He was excellent in every way. He made sure we had helmets that fit us and helped us get strapped into the vehicles. The ride was stunning. There were trails, open space and a magnificent stretch of beach where we enjoyed the view of the ocean and we saw whales very near the shore. With the upgrade we were allowed to take pictures. Once the ride was over, we got lunch which was provided by Cactus Tours- a burrito which was tasty and a drink choice of horchata, Hibiscus tea and an optional tequila tasting. Our 20 something son said it was the best tour he has ever done here in Cabo which is significant considering we have been to Cabo 8-10 times! Well done Cactus Tours and especially thank you to our guide Leon! Note: Take a bandana or a gaiter to protect your face from dust. Or you can purchase them when you get there for $10 each. The only negative is that on the ride back the Cactus van was way too packed- one person had to sit on the floor!
Total scam and a gringo rip off. Don't do it. +cannot bring phones with you bc they want to charge you for theirs own photgrapher to take photos at $20 a photo +they charge you an additional $30-$50 insurance on site, on top of the fee's are paying. +LITERALLY only do about 45 mins of physical riding on the quads, the rest is sitting around waiting, transportation, etx Our guide tried to stop about 10 mins into our ride and do a "water break". Haha we all remained on the quads u til he forfeit the stop. +they intentionally make you wait around hoping you will spend money at their "free tequila tasting", photo station, etx. Overall, it has the same feeling like you were at a time share scam... enough said.
Went here some time ago. The guy who came with us was horrible. My wife and mom had some trouble riding their atv and he told them to "f**** hurry up" in front of me. He cursed at them because we were left behind. The vehicle was too heavy for my wife's hands so it took her some time to adjusting. The guy who came with us was rude and an ass****. I wouldn't pay for such an experience.
Clean facility, excellent transport, and amazing guide! I did a horseriding tour with Lorena, with whom I felt extremely safe and who clearly knew what she was doing. She was encouraging and the photos were great. I liked that you could buy individual ones and not just a whole photo package for something like $200, which I encountered at other companies. As with other companies in Cabo, expect to pay up the nose for these photos and to not be allowed to take pictures with your own phone. Still, if you're filling out a dating app, now's your opportunity for a photo without a gym selfie, a car selfie, or any kind of selfie. People in my van ride home sounded really happy about this, so it's worth mentioning. Docked one star because guides are clearly encouraged to be aggressive about getting a tip, getting a 5-star review on TripAdvisor for the company, and getting a perfect paper survey review for the company to publish. That feels like a managerial issue, not a guide issue.
Our family has enjoyed ATV tours for years and this is one of many excursions at Cactus ATV tours. Fortunately we pre-booked 3 double ATVs which are automatic. Others were not so fortunate and saw the cost of their tour nearly double when they requested automatic transmissions. During the lengthy checkin process we were bombarded with endless entry fees, hard pitch insurance sales, vehicle upgrades, and the options for private tours. We chose the 2 seater car option and negotiated the cost. I felt like I was at Mammoth mountain stuck on the beginner run at the bottom on this tour. We were slowly led through a flat, straight path with no turns or banked courses that were the highlight of our previous tours. As I rode on the beach I rode above the fun course that I had taken numerous times before and was not allowed to venture off of our baby path. Instead of a break on the beach with waves and excitement, we walked up a sandy path and were given part of a carrot to feed a camel which was a photo opportunity. The cute camels were fun, but this was really an opportunity for them to up-sell people on the photo package which they want to sell you after the tour. Before the tour they said that the tours lasted between 1 hour and 40 minutes to two hours, ours lasted one hour and 20 minutes even though we had one timid rider who kept our entire group tied to his slow speed. I can not imagine how slow we would have to go for this trip to take even 20 minutes more. In years past this tour went faster, on better courses and lasted the full two hours. Even the cactus education session was shortened to a single stop at a cactus that can be used as sunscreen instead of the fun facts they offered previously. It is sad to see a business so intent on extracting as much money for as little effort as this tour company. They are opportunistic at every turn, even with the pricing of the photo package. When I inquired about the cost the photographer replied with "let me check". How on earth could he not know the cost of the photos when he sells them daily? The price he gave me was $165 which is an easy enough number to memorize if you are asked that same question all day, every day. So that begs the question, how do they decide how much to charge different people? If I do return in the future, I will have negotiated everything to ensure that I do not feel so betrayed by this company again.
I prefer to roll off of the beaten path than to follow the pack. ATV tours take small groups of fun people to terrain inaccessible by car. Cactus ATV tours picked us up in a comfortable van before a 2 hour off-road ATV ride. The check in process was quick and painless. After a safety lecture we took off on a fun and scenic tour of Baja. I loved the perfectly banked paths, when you accelerate the ATV in a centrifugal force whips you around and out. I was skeptical at first but learned to just accelerate into it with confidence. What a thrill! We climbed up a peak and took a water break and the tour guides gave us a live cactus demonstration. One of the cacti had red sap at the tips and white sap on the bottom, the white sap is used by natives as a natural sunscreen. Another cactus is filled with water so if you get stuck it might save your life. Armed with this information, we headed into the next trail which led us to the beach. We rode on the sand and ended up at a cool rock formation. The waves break into the rocks and there are sea caves. Unsuspecting riders got doused in water! When we got back to base camp they let us take photos in their aviary with iguanas and parrots and feed some birds too. Be prepared to tip the bus driver, tour guides, photographer and concession stand worker, these employees survive on your generosity. Overall this is a fun way to spend a day.
The journey began when the Cactus bus came by the resort to get us and before I knew it we were at the Cactus ATV park. Now, we had signed up for the $250 package, which as I found out was for a 15hp, 2x4 manual transmission 4 wheeler. Of course, Jessica wanted to be with me, and I wanted to have shade. They had "upgrade options" and wouldn't you know it, 7 categories to the right, the maximum package they offer, is the Maverick Turbo RC private tour. For the low price of just $375 more, or just $625 total for those keeping score at home, we could be in the most powerful vehicle they offer on a private trip, no convoy, no other guests, and nonstop fun immediately. Go ahead and swipe the card. Jessica and I hopped into the Can-Am, the instructor Gilbert asked if I had any experience with high performance vehicles. Just a little bit I politely responded. The experience was fantastic. We spent about an hour maxing out the Maverick, which was about 75kmph (46mph), took a break, and then another hour on a more technical course. I'll say that my countless hours at Dallas Karting Complex in Caddo came back in the form of muscle memory here, and it was just a pure thrill to be going all in through the desert, along the beach, and across nonstop terrain. Jessica asked me to drive and I was happy to take on the responsibility. Despite some tight paths, this was a tourist friendly course and we were never in any serious danger. By the halfway point I was wondering why I have not purchased one of these things yet for myself as a toy. At the very end of the trip Jessica hopped up on top of the vehicle and I was telling her she looked like a freaking action figure. She was shocked, but it's true. I've never seen her this ripped. After the end, the company surprised me with dozens of high quality photos of us in action. We saw employees taking photos, but I still don't know how so many different photographers got their media to the main office from out there so quickly. They offered a slick proposition, for just $89 I could have a unwatermarked copy of each photo they took in HD. We're at $714 now for those keeping score. I feel like when you're in Baja Mexico, embracing some off-road action is a part of the local culture. This was for sure one of the most exciting travel experiences I have ever done, and I would recommend it to anyone who is considering doing it. To me this is so much more fun than laying around a resort racking up a bill on drinks and snacks. I wanna get out and do stuff! PS - I took a photo with a camel and it bit Jessica on the arm. lol.

Had a great time on the tour and enjoyed the pit stop on the route. Loved the tequila tasting and loved the quesadilla at the little food court. Fun time.
Did the atv tour with our group, some of us had 2 seaters and the others in 4 seaters. Our tour guide was Esteban and he did an amazing job with bringing us through the desert and then the beach. We also stopped and got to see a camel and use the restrooms. Carey cash in your pocket if you'd like to buy water, wear plenty of sunblock as the tour was about 2-3 hours under the sun in the month of may. I got burnt! Reapply that sunblock before riding.

We bought our ATV event through our concierge at the Westin. If you choose this company, be prepared for the following: - Private tour included shuttle transportation and a $25 parking fee. When we arrived, the parking fee was stated per person, but didn't say that on the invoice. They shrugged and said to take it up with the concierge. - Private tour guides will not take any photos. This was only shared after we started our event. - The insurance charges were $25 per child, $45 per adult. $1000 USD deposit required without insurance. - Bandanas to protect against dust are sold separately ($10-17 each). - One of our kids was scared and changed his mind on a private vehicle. No refund given. We asked for a credit apply to photos, but they offered ~30% off instead. - The trail itself is very tame. - Driving single file, straight line only is tightly enforced. My 10 year old enjoyed driving an ATV, so that was the highlight. The ride itself was appropriate for his age. Rating reflects that I'd never go back due to poor value and indifferent customer service.
