Aerosmith Announce First ‘Farewell’ Tour Dates
Aerosmith 's next tour might be the beginning of the end.
The band has announced a run of European dates for the spring and summer of 2017 — a series of shows they've dubbed "Aero-Vederci Baby!" and are billing as their "farewell" tour. The news comes several months after singer Steven Tyler publicly suggested that it was "time" for the group to start thinking about getting off the road — although Tyler's longtime foil and creative sparring partner, guitarist Joe Perry , seemed to disagree.
"It’s one of many things we’ve talked about as a band, but I don’t know if it’s the end," Perry shrugged in response. "There are still a lot of places we haven’t played yet that we want to play. More to follow – let’s just put it that way."
It's worth noting that in the press release announcing the "Aero-Vederci Baby!" dates, the word "farewell" is always surrounded in quotes, and neither Perry nor Tyler seemed to be in a hurry to say goodbye in their quotes for the tour.
"It’s been three years since we have been on tour in Europe, and I can speak for my brothers that we can’t wait to get over there and take it up a few notches," said Perry. "Last tour in South America, we were running on all cylinders, and I can see no reason to let up now."
"Aerosmith just got done ripping through South America like true ambassadors of rock," added Tyler. "The band is unstoppable right now and in Europe, we're going to keep doing what we do best ... Let the Music Do the Talking ... Living on the Edge, and living to rock another day."
When Tyler made his comments about a farewell tour, he quipped that it would last "probably forever" — so there's every reason to believe Aerosmith will be bidding fans adieu for quite awhile. Take a look at the complete list of currently scheduled dates below, and keep an eye on the band's official site for ticketing information starting Nov. 18.

Aerosmith Contemplating Farewell Tour in 2017
By Andy Greene
Andy Greene
Aerosmith are on a brief hiatus now as Steven Tyler gears up to promote his upcoming country album , but when they reappear next year, it might be to say goodbye. “I’m doing 30 [solo] shows from May until August,” Tyler tells Rolling Stone . “And then in 2017 we go out with Aerosmith . We’re probably doing a farewell tour. Look, there’s two bands that still have the original members, us and the Stones. I’m grateful for that. Whether we do a farewell tour or go into the studio and do another record, I’m just excited about it.”
The comments echo what Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford said on Eddie Trunk’s podcast in December. “We are actually talking about that — about actually putting together a sort of wind-down tour which we would call the Farewell Tour,” he said. “I guess it’s just because of our age. You know, something’s gonna happen. It’s just inevitable that somebody’s not gonna be able to do it anymore. So it would be very nice to take a nice long bow and say thank you and … put it to bed kind of gracefully.”
Aerosmith haven’t performed in public since a September 15th, 2015 show in Moscow. Tyler has spent the time since then fine-tuning his country album, though Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry isn’t thrilled by what he’s heard so far. “If I didn’t know him when I heard the song I’d go, ‘It’s okay, next,'” Perry told USA Today . “He’s got a fucking rhinestone cowboy hat going, ‘Yippee ki yay.’ I don’t know what else to say about that.”
Tyler initially responded to the dig by saying that Perry was “jealous,” but he’s now softened his position a bit. “I’ve read what Joe has said,” he says. “But then I really, really, couldn’t be here doing what I’m doing now if if wasn’t for Joe Perry. It’s a strange catch-22, but if you slow down enough you get to see it. It’s a obvious as balls on a tall dog. I wouldn’t be anywhere without those guys, so I’m as grateful as I can be.”

Every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term, the 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history.
If Aerosmith do opt to launch a farewell tour next year, they would be the latest in a long line of veteran rock bands to go down that route. Motley Crue allegedly signed a “cessation of touring agreement” before launching their own farewell trek in 2014 and saw their ticket sales increase by a substantial margin on the 158-date world tour that wrapped up on New Year’s Eve in Los Angeles.

Many farewell tours don’t actually stick, though. Everyone from Cher to Ozzy Osbourne to LCD Soundsystem have hit the road just a few years after pledging to never perform again. Aerosmith should know this since they went on a co-headlining tour with Kiss in 2003, just two years after Gene Simmons and Co. wrapped up their own farewell tour.
In the meantime, Steven Tyler is playing a special solo show at New York’s Lincoln Center on May 2nd. Proceeds will go to Janie’s Fund , an organization Tyler began last year to help women overcome to trauma of child abuse.

Steven Tyler Confirms Aerosmith’s 2017 Farewell Tour
Back in April, Steven Tyler hinted that Aerosmith were " probably doing a farewell tour " in 2017. Not long after, guitarist Joe Perry issued a statement that while a "farewell tour" was something that had been discussed for the last five years, it was not something that had been firmly decided upon. But it now appears that the members of Aerosmith are indeed planning to play their last hurrah in 2017.
Frontman Steven Tyler called in to the Howard Stern Show earlier this week to discuss his solo country album, but the talk also included discussion of Aerosmith's plans. Tyler told Stern, "I love this band, I really do, and I want to squash every thought that anybody might have about this … We're doing a farewell tour, but only because it's time. We've never done that."
Stern then asked if Tyler was sure and the vocalist responded, "I think so. Next year." Knowing that Tyler and Perry haven't always been on the same page, Stern asked if Perry was aware of the farewell tour, to which Tyler offered, "Mmhmm."
As of yet, no official details have been confirmed regarding an Aerosmith 2017 Farewell Tour and as 2017 is still quite a way away, it may be a while before there's information. But we'll keep you up to date when shows are revealed and confirmed.

STEVEN TYLER Confirms AEROSMITH Farewell Tour For 2017
June 21, 2016, 7 years ago
news hard rock steven tyler aerosmith
In a live interview on The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM Radio, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has revealed that the band will embark on a Farewell Tour in 2017. Tyler, who will release his first ever solo album, We’re All Somebody From Somewhere, on July 15th, offered no more details on the Aerosmith situation. Stay tuned for updates.
Tyler tells Rolling Stone that his first ever solo album, We’re All Somebody From Somewhere, will feature 15 new songs including his first two country single, “Love Is Your Name” and “Red, White And You”, as well as a new, “darker, countrified” version of Aerosmith’s “Janie’s Got A Gun”.
"Country music still plays stuff with melody, I have a sorcerer's grasp of melody, I like to think," he explains. "I'm a freak for that so thank God they're still playing it in country, and I think they're gonna be all over songs like 'Only Heaven' and you guys are gonna be surprised."
Tyler will launch his Out On A Limb summer tour on July 2nd in Las Vegas, NV. A year after launching a solo country career, the Aerosmith frontman is hitting the road this summer with a new band (the Nashville-based Loving Mary) and a different approach to playing live. On his 19-city Out On A Limb tour, the rock icon is trading arenas for more intimate concert venues, where he'll rework Aerosmith classics and tell stories behind some of the band's most beloved hits.
The idea stems from an acoustic performance he did last fall as part of PBS' Front And Center series, with an emphasis squarely on the fans.
"What would I not pay to go see (Paul) McCartney, but instead of playing with whoever he's with now, actually do (a show) where he tells you what he was thinking when he wrote Yesterday?" says Tyler, 68. "That's what I'm doing. I figured I'd talk about Sweet Emotion and Dream On and where I was when I wrote it, and Seasons of Wither and how I played it."
Tour dates:
July 2 - Las Vegas, NV - Venetian Theatre 5 - Los Angeles, CA - Dolby Theatre 8 - Seattle, WA - Marion Oliver McCaw Hall 10 - Vancouver, BC - Orpheum Theatre 14 - San Francisco, CA - The Masonic 20 - Phoenix, AZ - Comerica Theatre 23 - Denver, CO - Ellie Caulkins Opera House 26 - Austin, TX - Bass Concert Hall 29 - Houston, TX - Brown Theater at Wortham Center

Steven Tyler, shown here with Joe Perry at the Global Warming World Tour in 2014, called Aerosmith "unstoppable."
The iconic rock group announced their 2017 European farewell tour, called “Aero-Vederci,” Monday after almost 45 years together.
“America’s greatest band is declaring their intentions to take over Europe,” lead singer Steven Tyler said in a fake news video on Twitter .
The 2001 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, including guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford, drummer Joey Kramer and bassist Tom Hamilton, recently wrapped up a 10-date Latin America tour
“Aerosmith just got done ripping through South America like true ambassadors of rock,” Tyler said in a statement . “The band is unstoppable right now and in Europe, we’re going to keep doing what we do best… Let The Music Do The Talking…Living On The Edge, and living to rock another day.”
The tour begins in Tel Aviv, Israel, on May 27. Other scheduled stops include Dublin, Florence, Madrid, Berlin and Moscow.
Tickets go on sale Nov. 18.

Aerosmith announce new Farewell Tour dates as Steven Tyler returns after vocal injury
Aerosmith's Peace Out Farewell Tour will resume in September a year after it was abandoned
Rock legends Aerosmith will return to the road this September, as their Peace Out Farewell Tour resumes almost exactly a year after being abandoned. The original dates were announced in May 2023 , but the trek faltered after just three shows, when Steven Tyler sustained damage to his vocal cords , leading to the cancellation of six shows.
Two weeks later the band postponed the rest of the tour when Tyler's injury was discovered to be more serious than initially thought, and that he'd fractured his larynx and would require a significant period of rest and recuperation.
"I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes , rocking with the best fans in the world," said Tyler at the time. "I promise we will be back as soon as we can!"
Now they're back. The tour will resume on September 20 at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh PA, and run all the way through until February 26 next year, when the curtain will fall at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, NY. The Black Crowes have again been confirmed as the support act, although they won't make the first night, when genre-bending YouTube sensation Teddy Swims will open.
The two opening shows in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are scheduled despite the venues having hosted shows on the truncated run of 2023 dates, perhaps in recognition that Tyler's voice wasn't up to par. Tickets for the original dates are still valid, while a general sale for unsold tickets begins on Friday April 12 at 10am local time via Ticketmaster .
