Welcome to doncaster minster.

We are now able to welcome visitors for viewing the wonderful architecture and stained glass; to learn about the history of the building and the Minster site; to enjoy the Minster grounds. We are open everyday for people for private prayer and meditation and to visit the Minster Shop.

Doncaster Minster is within easy reach of the railway station, transport interchange and the town centre. Our near neighbours are Doncaster College, the C-View Centre, the Frenchgate Centre and Doncaster Market.

We are currently open Monday – Friday: 10.30am – 3.30pm, Saturday: 10.30am – 1.30pm. We welcome thousands of visitors each year, and we always have some of our friendly stewards on hand to help, support and guide you around the Minster.  The main entrance is through the South Porch, there is a range of information leaflets in several languages to provide you with an introduction to the Minster. Please note that there may be restricted access during services and events.

Guided tours, groups and school visits are welcome and can be arranged by calling the Minster Office on 01302 323748 or E mail: Doncaster Minster  Office.

Shop : The Minster has a small shop area within the Minster and you can also Click & Collect at our online shop.

Photographs : The Minster is free to view but, if you wish to take photographs as a reminder of your visit we ask you to purchase a photo permit (£3). This enables you to take photographs of the Minster (not during Services) for your own use. Please contact the Minster Office if you wish to take photographs for publication or for commercial use.

Events having been taking place throughout 2023 to celebrate 100 years of Flying Scotsman.

To celebrate this significant milestone, schools, museums and libraries have been getting involved. The full programme is still available to view on the Danum Gallery, Library and Museum website .

Flying Scotsman paid a flying visit to Doncaster Railway Station in June 2023.

November 2023

This autumn, Flying Scotsman, the most famous steam locomotive in the world, returned to its birthplace of Doncaster for a special centenary visit.

Thousands of visitors got the opportunity to see Flying Scotsman up close, take photos and marvel at the magnificent feat of engineering that was created in Doncaster 100 years ago. A special commemorative booklet was produced for visitors which can now be viewed online.

Wisconsin football lands visit with former alabama defensive lineman, top 2022 recruit, share this article.

Wisconsin’s pursuit of talent along the defensive line continued on Monday. The program landed a visit with former Alabama defensive lineman Khurtiss Perry, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Perry has reportedly already visited Virginia Tech and Indiana and will also visit Louisville later this week.

The lineman entered the transfer portal on April 23 after two years at Alabama. He redshirted as a freshman in 2022 and appeared in only one game in 2023 for the College Football Playoff-bound Crimson Tide.

Perry is currently unranked as a transfer by 247Sports. He was one of the top defensive linemen in the class of 2022, ranked as the No. 54 overall player in the class, No. 10 defensive lineman and No. 2 recruit from his home state of Alabama. He originally chose Alabama over Clemson , Auburn, Texas and UCF coming out of high school.

The lineman’s transfer list now seems mostly restricted to the aforementioned schools: Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, Indiana and Louisville.

Wisconsin continues to look for talent along the defensive line with the position being one of the weakest on the 2024 roster. The Badgers are also in pursuit of former Grand Valley State DL Jay’Viar Suggs and former Wyoming DL Gavin Meyer . It is currently a finalist for both players, and now appears to have a realistic shot at landing Perry.

7 separate shootings across Louisville leave 5 dead, multiple injured Mother’s Day weekend

A violent Mother’s Day weekend has left five people dead and others injured in a string of shooting incidents across Louisville.

The violence began late Friday when Metro Police said a woman was injured in a shooting in the 1400 block of Thornberry Avenue. Around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, a man was shot and injured on Cristland Road in Auburndale.

LMPD said two men died and two others were hospitalized following a shooting at The HotSpot on Evangeline Avenue in Southland Park around 5 a.m. Police have not revealed what may have led to the shooting. 

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified one of the victims as 26-year-old Aaron Anderson.

The club had already been cited by the Louisville Alcohol and Beverage Control for noise and smoking violations. The Louisville ABC is now issuing an emergency suspension of the club’s ability to sell alcohol.

That violence continued into Saturday afternoon.

A man was shot multiple times and found inside of a vehicle on Hale Avenue in Louisville’s California neighborhood .

Hours after those incidents, Lyndon Police reported a 31-year-old man dead after a shooting at an apartment complex on Doncaster Way . This was reported around the time LMPD confirmed the  body of a man was found near railroad tracks near the intersection of Allmond and Louisville Avenues at 6:15 p.m. Police said that victim was shot to death.

LMPD ended the night investigating a shooting in the 7500 block of Dunwoody Court at 11:45 p.m. The victim in that incident was shot and had no pulse. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

WHAS11 caught up with Metro Councilman Phillip Baker on Sunday to ask about the weekend violence.

“Yesterday was a pretty sobering reminder of the work that we still have to do,” he said. “I just want to tell people, make sure the in areas of public safety, make sure you’re getting a mentor, make sure that you're contacting the resources, [and] make sure you're calling those numbers. This violence has to stop.”

This year alone there have been 161 shootings in metro Louisville, according to the Gun Violence Dashboard , leaving behind 184 victims. Fifty-seven people have been killed.

Young people are the most impacted with more than 56% of victims of shootings are between the ages 18 and 34.

Those who suffered injuries in the shootings were taken to area hospitals.

• S. Korean FM to visit China

As South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul is set to visit China from Monday to Tuesday, Chinese observers said that negotiating arrangements for a long-stalled trilateral leaders' meeting among China, Japan and South Korea will be a top priority. Cho's trip is being closely watched as observers wonder whether this visit will address current obstacles and pave the way for a fresh start in relations between China and South Korea.

Cho will visit China from Monday to Tuesday at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian announced on Friday.

During the visit, Cho will meet with Wang to exchange views on issues of mutual interests including Korea-China relations, the Korea-Japan-China trilateral leaders meeting, Korean Peninsula issues, and regional and global affairs, according to a press release from South Korea's foreign ministry on Friday.

The release said Cho will hold a business roundtable with Korean entrepreneurs in China to listen to their suggestions and difficulties and exchange opinions on ways to provide support for them and boost economic exchanges between the two countries.

South Korea, the current rotating chair of the trilateral dialogue, is eager to realize the trilateral meeting, which is also a top priority of Cho's trip, Lü Chao, an expert on the Korean Peninsula at the Liaoning Academy of Social Sciences, told the Global Times on Sunday.

The meeting has long been stalled due to COVID-19 pandemic, a soured relationship among the three countries and U.S. disruption that has created obstacles for the three countries to cooperate, Lü argued. He said he believes this trilateral meeting, if resumed at this crucial juncture, can help stabilize the supply chains of the three Northeast Asian countries and stimulate economic cooperation among them.

Moreover, discussion between Chinese and South Korean leaders concerning the Korean Peninsula issue is Seoul's key concern, experts said.

The trilateral leaders' meeting was last held in Chengdu, Southwest China's Sichuan Province in December 2019.

Chinese experts noted the widening divergences between Beijing and Seoul on the diplomatic front, caused mainly because of South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol's leaning toward the U.S. and malicious statements about the island of Taiwan, South China Sea and other China-related issues. They view such divergences as unavoidable differences between two sides.

"Cho's trip, the first trip to Beijing by a South Korean top diplomat in more than six years, is set to cover the current obstacles facing the two countries and explore ways to solve the pressing problems, including whether Seoul will join AUKUS," Lü said.

South Korea has held talks about joining part of the AUKUS defense deal among the U.S., the UK and Australia, South Korean defense minister Shin Won-sik said last month, only weeks after the pact said it would consider including Japan, according to Reuters.

The Yoon administration is mired in a severe quagmire after South Korea's liberal opposition party won a landslide victory in the country's parliamentary elections in April, placing Yoon in a challenging position for the three remaining years of his term.

Moreover, Yoon's approval rating fell to 23 percent in a weekly tracking poll released by Gallup Korea after the parliamentary elections, down 11 percentage points from the last survey conducted before the elections. His previous low was 24 percent in September 2022, Bloomberg reported.

"Under such circumstances, we await whether Yoon is going to reassess the one-sided and erroneous foreign policy and economic policies toward the U.S. in the past two years. This is also what China hopes to know," Lü said.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken declines to identify 'red line' for aid to Israel

Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday declined to identify the Biden administration’s “red line” with Israel, despite President Joe Biden’s comments earlier this week that the U.S. will withhold certain military assistance if Israel launches an offensive on Rafah.

“What we’ve seen over the last few months is a deep concern on our part about the possibility of a major military operation in Rafah given the damage it would do to civilians there,” Blinken said Sunday during an interview on NBC News’ “Meet the Press.”

He added, “Absent a credible plan to get them out of harm’s way and to support them, the president’s been clear for some time that we couldn’t and would not support a major military operation in Rafah.”

His comments come days after Biden told CNN that if Israel goes into Rafah, “I’m not supplying the weapons that have been used historically to deal with Rafah, that deal with the cities, that deal with that problem.”

Blinken told moderator Kristen Welker that the Biden administration doesn’t have a red line, but is “in active conversations with Israel about the provision of heavy or high-payload weapons — large bombs — because of the concern that we have about the effect these weapons can have when they’re used in a dense urban environment like Rafah.”

Blinken’s latest remarks come after the State Department on Friday issued a report to Congress that concluded it was “reasonable to assess” that Israel violated international law in Gaza.

Still, the report found that Israel hasn’t violated the terms of U.S. weapons agreements and Blinken defended the ambiguity of the report, saying it “makes clear that this is an incredibly complex military environment.”

“You have an enemy that intentionally embeds itself with civilians,” he added. “It’s very, very difficult in the heat of war to make a definitive assessment about any individual incident.”

Last week, before the report was issued, the Biden administration halted a planned shipment of 2,000-pound bombs and 500-pound bombs to Israel over concerns about a possible military invasion in Rafah, a city in southern Gaza where over a million refugees are sheltering.

The administration continued to send other military assistance to the country at war with Hamas, but Biden ’ s decision exposed new fault lines in his own party , with supporters of Israel questioning the decision and supporters of Palestinians condemning the president for not doing enough or doing too little, too late .

Vermont independent Sen. Bernie Sanders, who has called for a cease-fire in Gaza, on Sunday told “Meet the Press” that he thinks “a lot of people are very disappointed. ... It’s hurting [Biden] politically, of course it is.”

“Israel should not be receiving another nickel in U.S. military aid,” Sanders added.

Moments later, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. pushed back on Sanders' call to halt aid to Israel, comparing the war in Gaza with the U.S.' decision to drop atomic bombs in Japan during World War II.

“Give Israel the bombs they need to end the war. They can’t afford to lose," Graham told Welker.

Just a few weeks ago, Biden signed into law a package of bills with $26 billion for additional assistance to Israel and humanitarian aid in Gaza.

Kelce had a busy week leading up to his trip to Paris. Earlier in the week he was seen filming an appearance on Ryan Murphy’s new FX horror series Grotesquerie .

The football star was cast opposite Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, and Lesley Manville in the upcoming series, which has just started production. 

Nash-Betts shared several videos on social media filming with Kelce. Grotesquerie  will follow Kelce’s acting debut as host of  Saturday Night Live  in March 2023 . He also made a cameo alongside Swift on the NBC late-night sketch comedy series this past fall.

Kelce is enjoying time off from the NFL before the tight end returns to the Kansas City Chiefs for training camp ahead of the new football season this fall.

Swift added a new era to her tour after dropping her new album, The Tortured Poets Department. The singer modified her show by adding songs like “But Daddy I Love Him,” “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” “Down Bad,” “Fortnight,” “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” and “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.”

On Instagram, Swift dedicated a post to the new section of her tour, which she dubbed it “Female Rage: The Musical.”

“To my crew, fellow performers, and band who worked tirelessly in their break to concoct this surprise for you – but mostly for the fans in Paris. I’m so thankful that it was you we got to show this to for the first time because you gave us so much excitement, passion, and love. I’m SO fired up to play this for every crowd on the tour. See you very soon, Stockholm!” she posted.
