Make Your Mac's Menu Bar Stay Visible in Full Screen Mode

In macOS, when you take an app fullscreen by clicking the green traffic light icon in the top-left corner of the app window, the menu bar may be hidden from view in order to draw your focus to the window's content.

This effect may be welcomed, but if you'd prefer the menu bar and its items to remain visible in full screen mode, there's a setting that you can disable to achieve it. The steps below show you how.

• Click the Apple () symbol in the menu bar and select System Settings... in the dropdown menu.
• Click Control Center in the settings sidebar (or Dock & Menu Bar in macOS Ventura).

That's all there is to it. The next time you take an app full screen, the menu bar will remain visible at the top of the window, complete with menu options and any other menu items you may have arranged there.

The menu bar on macOS is always visible to help you. It runs on the top of the screen of your laptop. The menus, icons, and options on the menu bar help you choose commands, check the status, and quickly access options for frequently used apps.

The first option on the top left is the Apple menu, followed by Apps, Status Check, Control Centre, Notification Centre, and Ask Siri.

If you find yourself struggling to locate the menu bar while using your macOS, you may think it disappeared. In reality, it is right there but hidden.

• First, you have to go to Mac’s System Preferences.

How to Disable Automatically Hide and Show Menu Bar

Before the mac OS X 10.11 el Capitan version, the menu bar would always be present on the top. With the new upgrade, a new feature was added, ‘automatically hide and show’. If you have left this feature on, your menu bar will constantly hide and seek with you.

If you are tired of the disappearing act and want to see it at all times, you need to follow these steps.

• Move your cursor over to the top of your screen and select the Apple icon.
• Click on System Preferences.
• Once the Window for System Preferences opens, click on the General Settings icon.
• In the next window, under the Appearance tab, you will see a check box option that says ‘Automatically hide and show the menu bar. ‘
• Next, uncheck the box.
• As soon as you uncheck the box, you will see the menu bar appear on top of the screen.

Press Control+ F2 key together to show or hide the menu bar on your macOS.

How Can I See Mac Menu Bar in Full-Screen Mode?

You might have noticed that even if your menu bar is always visible, it disappears when using any application in Full-screen mode.

For instance, if you are watching a video on youtube, playing a game, or surfing on Safari and expanding it to cover the entire screen, you will not see the menu bar.

While you are still in full-screen mode, you can easily access the menu bar. It doesn’t matter which application is running. If you need your menu bar, move your mouse towards the top of the display screen, it will slide down. You can easily see and use the menus from there.

You can also set the menu bar to stay where it is and open applications in full-screen mode. Here is how to do it.

To allow your application to fill the screen, you must click the small green button with two arrows. This button is located at the left of the toolbar of the app.

Holding the Option Key on your keyboard and pressing the green button together will ensure that the expanded screen does not cover the menu bar.

Change Settings

• Select Dock.
• Find the option ‘Automatically hide and show the dock’.
• Please uncheck the box to return it to default.

Your toolbar must have gone back to its place.

Kill File in Terminal

If all else fails, and you cannot revive your Dock, it’s time to try the last resort.

Go to Terminal and type this command: “killall Dock”

You could also restart your Mac to clear the terminal. Doing it directly saves time and brings it to default settings quickly.

The menu bar on your macOS is a convenient feature that makes navigation easier. Similarly, the toolbar located at the bottom of the screen also makes it easier to open frequently used applications. Fortunately, you can’t accidentally delete them.

Safari Menu bar missing on iPad

I have no Menu Bar for Safari on iPad - no green button , no Apple symbol, nothing up there.

Command Control F does nothing.

Holding down the command key give me a selection of key combinations but there is nothing about a menu bar.

I assume I am in full screen from other questions I have looked at.

I have an iPad (7th gen) WiFi

These are characteristics of Safari for Macintosh. iPad is not a Macintosh and does not have Macintosh application characteristics like a Menu Bar, window controls, etc.

To fix the Safari search bar missing issue on iOS 17, you can force quit the Safari browser. By force quitting the app, you essentially restart it, which can clear any temporary data or processes that may be causing the search bar to disappear. This step is similar to restarting your computer to fix software issues.

Then, open the Safari browser and check if the search bar is back.

2. Change the Settings to Single Tab

• Business Insider asked bartenders which drinks customers should never order in a crowded bar. 
• Stay away from mojitos and Bloody Marys if you're shoulder to shoulder at the bar.
• The experts also said to avoid drinks with lots of garnishes and mix-ins.

Whether you're stopping in for a happy hour or going out with friends, it's nice to have a go-to bar order .

Since inflation has sent alcohol prices soaring , picking the wrong drink is a costly mistake. And if you're in a crowded bar, you might get eye rolls or long wait times if you order certain things.

Business Insider spoke with bartenders and mixologists to find out what they'd never order in a crowded bar.

Steer clear of Long Island iced teas.

Don't ask the bartender for a Long Island iced tea just because you can't rid yourself of the nostalgia from your college days.

According to Jamie Robinson, former bartender and current assistant food and beverage manager at Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort , called the drink "a big no-no, especially at a busy bar."

She explained that it requires too many ingredients — including multiple kinds of alcohol that she would never personally mix.

"You're likely only going to order one or two unless you plan on ending up on the floor at some point during the evening," Robinson told BI.

Save the mojitos for a slower day.

There's usually nothing wrong with ordering a mojito at a bar. But you might want to think twice if the place is packed because they can take a while to make.

"A proper mojito should feature hand-muddled limes and mint, plus whatever flavor you might be adding to it," Robinson told BI. "They are a labor of love, to say the least."

Don’t order a White Russian.

If there's a sea of people waiting to order at the bar, it's considerate to order things the bartender likely has on standby. Unfortunately, the heavy cream required for a White Russian isn't usually handy.

"Save your bartender the time of having to go check to see if they have some in the back, and save your stomach from mixing dairy with whatever else you might be inclined to drink that night," Robinson said.

Ditch the spicy margarita in a crowd.

According to Zulay Duran, executive bartender at Taste My Aruba , spicy margaritas are very involved.

"This is a specialized drink that takes careful execution, which isn't feasible for most bartenders on a busy night," she told BI. "Opt for a proper glass of wine instead, if you can."

Bloody Marys are for brunch.

Vodka and tomato juice is a fan-favorite combination. But according to Aliz Meszasi, bar manager at The Fed at The Langham in Boston, Bloody Marys aren't a night-out drink.

The expert said unless it's brunch time, finding all the ingredients and garnishes is usually like a doomed scavenger hunt for bartenders.

If a drink calls for egg whites, don’t order it.

Some cocktails, like gin fizzes and amaretto sours, call for egg whites to produce a nice foam. But that can be a pain on a crowded Friday night.

"The Ramos gin fizz is very labor intensive," said Nick Jackson, head bartender at The Rum House . "It requires shaking for several minutes and is very difficult at a crowded bar."

Skip the piña colada.

Unless you're at the beach , bartenders probably don't want you ordering a piña colada.

"Please don't make the bartender fire up a blender in the middle of a crazy service," said Zach Pace, chief operating officer and beverage expert at Ten Rooms .

Get your caffeine fix at a coffee shop, not a crowded bar.

Meszasi said to avoid ordering an Irish coffee at the bar. The layered beverage with lightly whipped cream and hot coffee can be time-consuming when you're one of 10 people in line.

The same thing goes for espresso martinis, according to Vinny Spatafore, bartender and beverage operations manager at Blue Bridge Hospitality .

"The strong, lingering espresso smell means bartenders have to wash the shaker extra carefully, which can be time-consuming," he told BI.

Layered shots are tedious, especially for an entire group of friends.

Sunshine Foss, founder and CEO of boutique liquor store Happy Cork , told BI that people should stick to simple vodka shots on busy evenings.

Layered shots that require multiple liqueurs or spirits can be a hassle to prepare properly.

"Bartenders are already under pressure to serve drinks quickly, ordering layered shots just doesn't make sense for anyone," she told BI.

Please don’t ask a bartender to whip up your own creation on a bustling Friday night.

No one is saying that what you like is bad, but rattling off your own involved cocktail recipe in a packed bar is annoying.

"Be specific but not a poet," Joshua Lucas, mixologist at Kiki's in La Quinta, California, told BI.

For example, he said he never wants to hear, "I'll have a Belvedere vodka martini extra shaken with two cucumbers, no vermouth, a lemon twist expressed and discarded, and save the shaken ice on the side."

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.  

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.

When you right-click on any web page in Safari on Mac, it doesn't reveal the Show Page Source and Inspect Element buttons. To see these, you need to enable the Develop menu---we'll show you how to do that.

Once you've enabled the Develop menu, right-clicking a blank space on any website will reveal the Inspect Element and Show Page Source buttons. These allow you to take a look at the source code of any website, which is useful for things like downloading images from websites and debugging code or finding out what it looks like behind any site (for website designers).

You can easily turn on the Develop menu in Safari by following a couple of steps. Open Safari on your Mac and click the "Safari" button in the menu bar.

Next, select "Preferences." Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut Command+, (comma). This will also open up Safari preferences.

Go to the "Advanced" tab.

Check the box for "Show Develop Menu in Menu Bar."

Now the Develop menu will appear between Bookmarks and Window at the top.

Apart from being able to view the page source, this will allow you to access developer-focused features, such as disabling JavaScript on any website.

Once you've enabled the Develop menu, there are a couple of ways to view the page source in Safari.

Open any website in Safari and right-click the blank space on the page. Now, select "Show Page Source." You can also get to this menu by using the keyboard shortcut Option+Command+u.

If you're looking for images or other media elements from any web page, Safari makes it easy to find these. In the left-hand pane, you will see various folders such as Images, Fonts, etc. Click the "Images" folder to quickly find the photos that you need.

After selecting an image, you can view its details easily by opening up the details sidebar. The button to open this is located at the top-right of the console, just below the gear icon. You can also open this with the shortcut Option+Command+0.

Click "Resource" at the top of the details sidebar to view details, such as the size of the image and its full URL.

You can change the position of the page source console easily, too. There are two buttons at the top-left of this console, right next to the X button. Click the rectangle icon to move the console to a different side within the browser window.

If you'd like to open the page source console in a separate window, you can click the two-rectangles icon. This will detach the console and open it in a separate window.

To check out the code for any specific element on the page, you can right-click that element and select "Inspect Element." This will take you directly to the code for the element that you selected.

View your Favorites in Safari on Mac

View your Favorites from the Smart Search field: Click in the Smart Search field to see your Favorites in the start page view, then click the icon of the website you want to visit. The start page view goes away if you start typing, and it doesn’t appear if you click the field while you’re viewing the start page.

You can also see your favorite websites when you open new tabs. If you don’t see your Favorites in new tabs, see Change General settings .

Show the Favorites bar: Choose View > Show Favorites Bar. A bar with your favorite websites appears below the toolbar.

Go to a Favorite website: Click in the Smart Search field, then click a website below Favorites, or click a website in the Favorites bar (or use the Touch Bar ).
