Sicilian Secrets – Tour of Sicily & Aeolian Islands 2024

Just returned from a wonderful vacation in Sicily. I couldn't have chosen a better destination! The tour touches several evocative destinations, first of all for me Agrigento and its temples. The tours are well organized and the guides super knowledgeable. Good point: right balance between moments of excursions and moments of relaxation. I was very happy with the restaurants and hotels. Great service in short, I would do it again right away and recommend it to everyone (even families with children!).

Sicily & Aeolian Islands (9 days/8 nights) - starting from Palermo

Having completed our Secrets of Sicily and Aolian Islands tour, which I had booked through your company, I would like to provide some feedback for your attention. My wife and I are experienced travelers, both independently and group travel. Overall, a very pleasant experience, which we enjoyed immensely. However, the communication with the travellers is in need of attention. For example..... We were provided with accommodation details only 1 week prior, making it difficult for us to book accommodation prior to the tour. The group introduction, which was done in the hotel foyer in Palermo, with other guests passing through was basically just a numbers check, to make sure that all of the group was there, plus a briefing on where to be the following morning. No introductions of fellow travelers, no welcome drink, the guide left after 5 minutes, with dinner still one hour off , we sat awkwardly for dinner in the hotel restaurant. Food and accommodation was inconsistent in quality ranging from poor to excellent. At the end of the bus tour, in Catania, the only instruction given to the (now ) six fellow travelers to the Aolian Islands component of the tour was that we would be transferred to the Ferry, the following morning. No problem there, except that the driver had no English, but did hand us our Ferry passes and also our excursion tickets. The excursion tickets were in the name of only two fellow travelers, so I had to ring the boat company for advice on behalf of the rest of the group. The trip to the Aolian Islands was lovely and the accommodation and food was of high quality. However, in the absence of any contact with your tour provider, the group looked to me to guide them on what was happening each day, and so I assumed the role of the tour guide, as the other 4 travellers, and us, were expecting more detailed information, which was never to come. We all had a great time, nothing had happened and I was able to ensure that am 6 people were where they were supposed to be at the allocated times. The tour finished quite bizzarlly, without ceremony and without any communication from the tour provider in Taiormia. Would I use Tour Radar again ? Maybe, but I will read the fine print next time !! Actually, we are booked on another Tour Radar trip tomorrow, so it will be interesting to see what happens !

Placido was excellent Very knowledgeable, patient, energetic and enthusiastic. All the places were amazing and the extra guides in Agrigento, Lorenzo were also excellent. The food in a couple of the Hotels was a little disappointing. The bus driver Angelo also very very good. I do feel the bus and how people chose their seats was not organized. I have been on other tours where seats were rotated to make it fair so that the same people not stuck in the back.

Sicily was great, the transportation was very good, fellow passengers were a great bunch who mixed well. Food and wine experiences were good, but for me the highlight of the trip was ancient and modern Sicily. The tour guide was lovely and tried very hard but with limited English understanding, was not able to provide any significant on board commentary or quell the frustrations that accrued as we drove from place to place. Accommodation throughout the tour was average to good and the weather was just perfect.

The tour that was planned for us included the opportunity to see every to site in Sicily. The accommodations and the drivers were great. Alessandro drove us the first day and took us to several sites that we would not have seen without his knowledge of the city of Palermo. Emmanuela drove us the other 5 days of the tour and she is just an outstanding driver and guide. Although she is not a formally trained guide, her knowledge of the history and ecology of Sicily was such a great addition. And, she is a gracious and charming companion for any travelers. We were so lucky to have her as our driver and accompaniment. This tour made a new and different part of Italy easy to enjoy with great access to everything that must be seen in Sicily. We would recommend this tour to anyone!! Thanks for this great experience.

Excellent hotels and trip. Times kept to by everyone. Bit of confusion over one tour on Lipari but it was all cleared up quickly. One thing would be prior knowledge of what will be for lunch. I would rather go get my own on some days as certain food items were not to our liking. Our guide, Angelo, eas very good. Made sure my sister had her vegan choices and clearly pointed out what was appropriate.

Good guides and good hotel and meals. Didn't expect my initial group of 30 to swell to 45 a few days later. Such a large number made visiting sites difficult. Didn't have listening devices for the first 3 days. Couldn't hear guides very well. Didn't expect to have to pay entrance fees. Web site should make that clear. Loved the selection of sited we visited.

Tour actually run by Sicillian Secrets, except for the last day, which was a private tour I assume organised through Destination Italia. Good coverage of the attractions, a competent and hard working guide and very pleasant extras. Meals provided were more than generous and most hotels great. Good value for money
