Perth Pub Crawl

Perth is known to be the most remote city globally, but that doesn’t mean that the proverbial fox and rabbit will say good night here. On the contrary, Perth has some excellent nightlife options to suit all tastes.

We have therefore put together a small selection of pubs, bars, and clubs below. In Northbridge, in particular, a new scene is emerging that comes together in the evenings in the district’s pubs and bars.

Are you looking for a great time and night out in Perth? Join Riviera Bar Crawl & Tous local tour guides for a unique pub crawl in Perth city

Highly recommended to bot solo travelers and groups, you will discover the best bars in Perth, with drinking games, free shots, VP entrance to the clubs, finger food, unique drinks, and more.

It is also a unique opportunity to party with locals and fellow travelers and meet nake new friends!

Table of Contents

Perth Pub Crawl – What to do in Perth at night?

Perth Pub Crawl

The nightlife in Perth is mainly in Northbridge, Subiaco, East Perth, and Fremantle. You can also have a good time in the CBD, in the northern suburbs of Mt Lawley and Leederville, and Cottesloe after sunset.

Perth’s current music scene is mostly dominated by drum ‘n’ bass, other electronic music, and R&B. If you are more into folk, rock, and classical music, you have to take a closer look. But there are also one or two events in these areas.

The artist Rolf Harris, the pianist David Helfgott and Bon Scott, the former lead singer of AC / DC, has spent part of their lives in Perth, which the metropolis naturally likes to boast about.

Nightlife in Perth – Where to party in Perth?

The nightlife in the CBD: Northbridge and around : After sunset, the district turns into a playground for dressed-up women and good-humored men of all ages who roam the streets to have a good time.

Live bands often appear in the various bars, with programs ranging from rock to hip-hop to classic jazz. At Northbridge Piazza (corner of Lake Street & James Street), you can be entertained 24 hours a day thanks to the giant LED screen and watch films, concerts, or various events. Most of the nightclubs and bars can be found on Aberdeen Street, James Street, Williams Street, and Lake Street.

The Burswood Complex in East Perth attracts many people, especially on weekends, as there is a nightclub in addition to the casino with an entertainment program.

However, if you prefer cocktail bars and chic pubs, you will feel very well cared for the west of the CBD in Subiaco. Most of these places are located on Hay Street and Rokeby Street.

A little further north is Leederville and Mt Lawley, where a few quieter night owls come to the individual bars. If you’ve had enough of the nightlife in Perth, you can go to Fremantlelet off steam. The bars, pubs, and nightclubs of Freo can be reached by train in just 30 minutes, and you can party here until the early hours of the morning.

some of the best pubs in Perth

  • The Generous Squire: The founder of this friendly pub was Australia’s first brewer. Now that the continent has a vast beer selection to offer, this pub remains an excellent place to pay homage to this variety.
  • The Brass Monkey: According to its statement, “The Brass Monkey” is the most photographed hotel in Western Australia. It is undoubtedly due to the colorful lighting, which also attracts many passers-by. They will not be disappointed. Various bars and dance floors and popular days of action (Monday is backpacker night!) convince.
  • Sail and Anchor: One of the oldest pubs in town and definitely an option for those who appreciate a large and good beer selection. Live bands are, of course, also on the program.

Nightclubs & discos

  • Metro City: There has to be a massive club in every city where one night is not enough to discover all the bars and themed rooms and is called the “Metro.” This one is ideal for partying all night long – it can only be that you meet friends at some point loses sight of it.
  • Metropolis: The Metropolis is a bit smaller and not as crowded as the Metro City Club, and it is also centrally located in the hip Fremantle district. Everyone will find their favorite corner here, be it the large dance floor, one of the themed bars, or the beautiful outdoor area.

Small Bar Rickshaw Tour

Small Bar Rickshaw Tour

  • Duration: 2 Hours (approx.)
  • Location : PERTH, WA
  • Product code: BARTOUR

Perth's vibrant small bar scene is a maze of secret spots and unique experiences - a delight to unravel if only you knew where to start!

That's where we step in.

Here at Peddle, we tirelessly 'research' (tough job, we know) the city's nightlife so our rickshaw-riding legends can guide you straight to the best bars in town.

The Experience

Your adventure kicks off at the WA Museum, where your personal Peddle rickshaw and vibrant guide are ready and waiting. As catchy tunes play, a feeling of anticipation swells — this isn't your typical night out in Perth.

Your guide, an urban nightcrawler with an insider's knowledge of the city's best bars, will navigate through the city's lively streets. You're about to get a taste of Perth's premier small bars, each one chosen for its unique vibe and standout cocktails. At each stop, you'll have 30 minutes to soak up the atmosphere, sip on choice drinks, and create memories that will outlast any hangover.

Two hours later, having imbibed the city's finest, we'll deposit you in the heart of the nightlife. Have a favourite venue in the city or Northbridge area? Just let us know. If you're not sure where to go next, trust your guide's well-honed instincts!

When Monday morning's water cooler conversation turns to weekend exploits, you'll be sharing stories of hidden bars and delectable cocktails that'll make even the office's resident social butterfly flutter with envy!

Common Questions

Can you accommodate everyone, including those with special needs or mobility impairments?

Absolutely! We think everyone has the right to enjoy our tours. If you or someone in your party has special needs or mobility impairments, please leave a note for us upon booking. We will arrange for the most suitable rider to take your tour and ensure they receive a full briefing on your requirements. Whether you have elderly parents that need a hand getting onboard, a child that has sensory issues, or a mate that is stuck in a moon boot, we will work with you before and during your tour to make sure your unique needs are met.

What's included in the price of my ticket?

Your ticket gets you a spot on one of our specially curated bar tours, guided by one of our engaging local aficionados. You'll ride in a comfy Peddle rickshaw and visit hidden bar gems that we've personally tested (tough job, but someone's got to do it). Included in your ticket is all the fun, laughter, great company, and a guided journey through the city's best nightlife in our comfortable Peddle rickshaws. You may even stumble upon some unexpected surprises along the way! After all, with Peddle, it's all about the journey.

Where does the tour start and end? Can you drop us off somewhere else afterwards?

Your Peddle escapade begins at the WA Museum. Where it ends? Well, that's a part of the fun. We typically conclude the evening in the city's nightlife hub, but if you have a particular place in mind within a reasonable distance, give us a heads up. No idea where to go next? Don't sweat it! Your guide has an uncanny knack for picking out the perfect next stop. Trust us; the night is still young!

What’s your cancellation policy?

We understand that plans can change, and we aim to be as flexible as possible. Should you need to cancel your tour, we provide the option to reschedule or a full refund for cancellations made at least 7 days in advance. Should Mother Nature intervene and force us to cancel due to bad weather, rest assured, we will always offer to reschedule or refund your tour. For those unforeseen last-minute cancellations, we handle these on a case-by-case basis. Please feel free to reach out to us at 0411 448 724 or [email protected], and we can discuss possible options.

Reviews (from TripAdvisor)

"What a fun night! I took my girlfriend out for her birthday and she loved it. We went to three different bars which I had never been to, but would definitely go back to! Tom was so friendly and fun. Riding through the streets was a blast! I will definitely be booking another tour in the future!"

"This was my second time using Peddle Perth and I would not hesitate to go again. These guys are awesome! The first time we went on one of their pre-arranged bar hops and it was sooo much fun. This time, I wanted to choose the venues, and the order, and Zac and his team accommodated us without hesitation. We connected our own iPhones to the little stereos and had a blast singing away between destinations. There is honestly no better way to cruise around the city and have a night out that’s a little different to the rest! Highly recommend!!"

"I booked a pub tour in December for myself and 7 mates for by birthday, and it was absolutely awesome ! We had such a fun time visiting some different pubs in the city, and the Peddle Perth crew made sure we were looked after at every venue. Special shout out to Bernie who was in charge of our group - what a legend. Definitely will be organising another one soon!"

"Probably the best birthday party I have ever had. The guys were so much fun and really added to the whole experience. We laughed the entire time and now ALL my friends wants to have a Peddle Perth Birthday. Thanks so much for such a fun & EPIC tour!"

Arts & entertainment, design & style, travel & leisure, search concrete playground, thom yorke is bringing his first-ever solo tour to australia and new zealand in spring 2024.

The Radiohead frontman will play tunes from across his career, including his solo work and film scores, on this six-date trip Down Under.

Thom Yorke Is Bringing His First-Ever Solo Tour to Australia and New Zealand in Spring 2024

Everything in its right place: when Thom Yorke takes to the stage Down Under in spring 2024 for his debut solo tour, performing songs from across his four-decade career, that's how Radiohead fans will feel. The English musician has announced a six-date trip to Australia and New Zealand, on his first jaunt this way since the band that he's synonymous with last made a visit in 2012.

Yorke has four Aussie and Aotearoa cities on his agenda in October and November, and he's going big at each of them (no surprises there). The Everything tour will kick off at Wolfbrook Arena in Christchurch, then hop to Spark Arena in Auckland. When he makes the leap to Australia, Yorke will play two evenings each at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne and the Sydney Opera House Forecourt in Sydney.

Michael Avedon

Yorke aficionados elsewhere across Australia and NZ, this does indeed mean that the tour is leaving you high and dry for local shows — so we foresee a trip in your future.

The singer whose voice echoed through Radiohead's 'Creep', 'The Bends', 'Just', 'Karma Police', 'Paranoid Android' and more will be busting out select tunes from the band's catalogue. He also has three studio albums as a solo artist, so expect tracks from them to also get a whirl. And, his film score and soundtrack work — see: Suspiria , Motherless Brooklyn , Peaky Blinders and Confidenza — will also pop up.

Before the Everything tour, Yorke has been hitting the stage with The Smile, which also features fellow Radiohead alum Jonny Greenwood plus Sons of Kermit's Tom Skinner. The Smile's second album Wall of Eyes dropped in April 2024.

Of the Sydney Opera House shows, the venue's Head of Contemporary Music Ben Marshall said this "this is historic. I'm ecstatic to announce the long-awaited Opera House debut of one of the greatest musicians of our time".

"A multi-award-winning artist, Thom Yorke rose to cultural and critical acclaim throughout the 90s with his boundary-pushing reimagination of contemporary rock, and has soared through recent years with a plethora of wildly innovative solo and collaborative creative projects. Yorke will bring his hauntingly existential lyrics, inimitable falsetto and rapturous arrangements to the Forecourt for two nights only," Marshall continued.

Country pub in deep water with local council for allowing travellers to park overnight on their property

A country pub is in deepwater with its local council for allowing passing travellers in self-contained caravans to park on their lawn overnight.

After publican Stuart O’Neil wrote a best selling book on mental health, he and his family bought the Deepwater Hotel in northern NSW.

It is located high up in the hinterland on top of the Great Dividing Range between Ballina and Coffs Harbour 140km inland from the coast.

The pub sits on two acres of land with plenty of green space out the back, perfect for passing travellers to pull up, have a meal and stay the night before they continue on their journey.

But the Glenn Innes Severn Council doesn’t agree. They want the pub to submit a development application to become a caravan park.

The council has sent the publican multiple letters threatening him with legal action if he does not comply.

Mr O’Neil said the council wanted them to remove a sign out the front which advertised beer and overnight parking.

“It is literally a grass paddock,” he said.

“Most travellers arrive about 7pm and are gone by 6am.

“The council are pursuing us because someone complained, we are just a country pub on a busy highway. We offer no power, no water, just overnight parking.

“We do that because people feel safe and they come into the pub and have a beer or a meal too.”

Mr O’Neil said 10km down the road the council offered the same thing at a rest area on the side of the highway, a place where caravaners could pull up and stay overnight.

“Here we are supporting locals and employing people in the town,” he said.

“They are claiming we are running a caravan park, and we’re not. We don’t offer powered sites.”

Mr O’Neil said like many pubs in country towns, they relied on travellers stopping in to sustain their business.

“You can’t survive on 300 locals. Without the travellers the pub closes and the town loses their pub.”

While the Glen Innes Severn Council agrees allowing passing travellers to stay overnight benefits the community, it did not negate the fact that legally the pub needed to submit a development application to the council.

“The rules apply to the whole of NSW,” a spokesman for the council said.

“Council would be happy to work with the applicant in securing development consent to ensure that the appropriate standards are met, just as they would with any other applicant.

“Council may take enforcement action against any person or company that does not comply with the NSW legislation, as is the role of council as the regulators in NSW.”

The council has stated a caravan park development was permitted under zoning rules, but the council had not received a development application from the hotel owner.

The spokesman said the council was now “obligated” to take action against the hotel to ensure the development complied with the relevant codes, policies and legislation.

The Standard Instrument Local Environment Plan (LEP) defines a caravan parks as an area of land, with access to communal amenities, used for the installation or placement of caravans, or caravans and other movable dwellings, but did not include farm stay accommodation.

In NSW, certain types of development required consent from authorities, movable dwellings such as caravans and campervans on land was an activity that ordinarily required council approval under the Local Government Act 1993.

While there are limited exemptions from the requirement to obtain approval, the council have said those exemptions did not apply in this case.

The State Environmental Planning Policy (Housing) 2021 states that use of land within a local government area for a caravan or camping was prohibited, and could only be carried out with the development consent of the council.

A special provision was made in the regulations for operating “primitive camping grounds” that were remote from urban areas and had limited facilities, but they still had to comply with a number of conditions.

A Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure spokesman said this was matter for council to determine and regulate.

“The NSW government is undertaking a review of the assessment and approval process for caravan parks and manufactured homes estates,” the spokesman said.

“The NSW government wants regional towns to thrive and will work with affected stakeholders as the review progresses.”

The Country Pub Camping group has more than 142,000 members that regularly share information and photos of great country pubs to visit and stay overnight for free. Photo: Facebook.

Country Pub Camping founder Jackie Bee said councils often lost sight about what was important and the money that was being spent in the community.

“Sometimes lots of money,” she said.

Ms Bee started the Country Pub Camping Facebook group in 2014 which was now acquired a mass following of more than 142,000 like-minded people across Australia.

She started the group after she camped at the Nindigully Pub and had such a great time she started searching for other small towns and pubs she could visit.

“It was quite difficult to find them so I put a list together and created the Facebook group, it grew like crazy,” she said.

The page is all about supporting small communities like Deepwater, in regional areas that might not otherwise see many travellers.

“I could have made the page about bakeries, but not every town has a bakery, it will have a pub though,” she said.

Because caravans were self-contained and set up so well now, Ms Bee said people did not need to stay in a caravan park unless they chose to.

“They can stay at a pub without power and use their own caravan, and it is a safety aspect as well, you can just walk to the pub and you do not have to get behind the wheel later,” she said.

“It is really about getting people into regional communities and talking to people.”

NSW AHA Director of Liquor and Policing John Green said country pubs provided a service and place to relax for local communities, travellers and grey nomads.

Australian Hotels Association director liquor and policing John Green said regional pubs provided a service and place to relax for the local community, travellers, and grey nomads alike.

“Most bush have got good space around them, so it makes sense for grey nomads and other caravaners to be able to park overnight and grab a meal and a beer – especially when the town doesn’t even have a caravan park,” he said.

“At the end of a long day, where would you prefer to park your caravan – in pub grounds or a caravan park?”
