Belmont, can't swim, capstan, popular tracks.

Formed by Chicago high school friends in 2014, Belmont quickly evolved from local pop-punk band to internationally lauded rock band with the release of their 2016 EP, Between You & Me, and 2018’s debut, self-titled full-length. After signing with Pure Noise Records, the then three-piece went on to release 2021’s heralded sophomore record, Aftermath, produced by Andrew Wade (A Day To Remember, Neck Deep, Real Friends).

The trio made up of Taz Johnson (vocals), Brian Lada (drums, guitar, bass, programming) and Jason Inguagiato (guitar) will return in 2024 with their third album, Liminal, which further expands their eclectic sound incorporating a fusion of pop-punk, metal, electronic and more on what will prove to be one of their best releases yet!

With a non-traditional range of influences including metal, grunge, and jazz, Belmont’s candid lyrics and faintly dissonant sound on albums such as their 2018 self-titled debut make the output of labels like Jade Tree and Deep Elm a touchstone. The ambitious Chicago trio continued to explore the outer reaches of pop-punk, metal, jazz fusion, hip-hop, and math rock on 2022’s Aftermath.

Vocalist Taz Johnson formed Belmont while still in high school, with former members of his previous band. After a series of personnel changes, the lineup solidified with the addition of drummer Brian Lada, guitarist Sam Patt, and bassist Alex Wieringa. They spent months recording their debut EP and building up hype online, and their hard work was rewarded when they sold out the first date of their very first tour at a 250-capacity venue. The EP, Vicissitude, was self-released digitally in January 2015, catching the attention of young local label Mutant League Records, who signed them and put out their second EP, Between You and Me, the following year. After intensive touring, the band set aside most of 2017 to work on their debut album. It was recorded by Jason Inguagiato, an old college friend of Lada’s, who collaborated heavily on the songwriting during production and was ultimately invited to join the band as their second guitarist. The eponymous album, released in August 2018 and preceded by the singles “Hollowed Out” and “Albert,” saw Belmont broadening their sound with a smorgasbord of subtle influences from genres as diverse as prog, hip-hop, jazz fusion, alternative rock, and metal. Those influences continued to expand on 2022’s dynamic and forward-thinking Aftermath. Produced by Andrew Wade (A Day to Remember, Neck Deep), the LP served as the group’s official debut for Pure Noise.

Belmont on broadway concert information - june 5th .

Belmont on Broadway free concert featuring headliner Blues Traveler to be held from 6 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5 on Broadway in downtown Saratoga Springs.

Street Closures

Broadway will be closed for this event between Van Dam Street and Lake Avenue - from approximately 5 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5 to 2 a.m. on Thursday, June 6 - for the installation of the stage, which will be located adjacent to the Saratoga Springs City Center. Additional road closures will begin at 3 p.m. extending south on Broadway to Washington and Spring Streets and as necessary on side streets with access to Broadway in this area. Detours will be available to motorists.

Shuttle Information

Complimentary shuttle transportation provided by CDTA from 3 to 11 p.m. from two remote parking locations, which they visit approximately every 20 minutes .

One bus will run between Route 50 Lot at Saratoga Performing Arts Center and the bus stop on Broadway at Congress Park

Another between the Wilton Mall bus stop and the corner of High Rock Avenue and Lake Avenue.

Concert Schedule

Kicking off the show at 6 p.m. is Tops of Trees, a Saratoga-based original eight-piece rock and soul ensemble quickly making a name for themselves in the Capital Region. With a sound built upon a strong foundation of drum and bass, classic organ, blistering vocals, and an unshakeable horn section, the band continues to thrill audiences with high energy performances and a modern interpretation of soulful music steeped in early R&B, funk and blues. After releasing their inaugural EP "The Tree House Sessions" in 2023, Tops of Trees gained lots of local fans with their pre-fireworks performance Saratoga New Year's Fest and recently earned a 2024 Capital Region Thomas Edison Award (Eddie) nomination for Jam Band of The Year.

The Pat McGee Band, hailing from Virginia, will take the stage at 7 p.m . With an emphasis on melodies that are both memorable and evocative, an upbeat party vibe that weighs heavily on the familiarity factor, three-part harmonies, ringing guitars, steadfast rhythms and sparkling keyboards, this band’s sound is certain to satisfy the Belmont on Broadway audience. McGee has performed at the Spa City’s famed music venue Caffe Lena and has previously warmed up crowds as an opening act for Blues Traveler as well. The group’s most recent reunion album, Sugar Packet, was released in 2020.

What Can You Bring?

In an effort to increase the safety of all, organizers ask that people attending this free concert from 6 to 10 p.m. not bring coolers, backpacks, large bags, strollers, pets, glass bottles, alcohol or weapons of any kind. There is ample space to watch the concert from locations on the street - Broadway - and attendees should use the sidewalks solely for walking. Individuals who require a seat are asked to bring a folding chair that is not inside of a bag. For the enjoyment of all, organizers also ask that those inside the event space refrain from smoking. Leaving a bar or restaurant with alcohol is not permitted.

The multi-day event, announced at a recent press conference, is a six-day celebration planned for the week of the 2024 Belmont Stakes Racing Festival in Saratoga Springs.

One of the highlights of the Belmont on Broadway schedule is a free concert featuring headliner Blues Traveler from 6 to 10 p.m. on June 5 on Broadway in downtown Saratoga Springs.

Event organizers announced the opening acts for the concert, along with further details about shuttle service and safety protocols.

Businesses decorate storefronts for Belmont tickets

S ARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. ( NEWS10 )– Businesses on Broadway are participating in a window decorating contest by the Saratoga Springs Downtown Business Association just in time for the Belmont Stakes. The annual competition allows storefronts to win tickets to the race based on their fun factor, creativity, and visual impact.

Displays are being judged on Tuesday, June 4, by WNYT’s Mark Mulholland, Hall of Fame Jockey Ramon Dominguez, and the New York Racing Association’s Acacia Clement. The winners will be announced on Wednesday, June 5, at the Belmont Stakes kick-off event at the Saratoga Springs City Center.

The grand prize includes two reserved clubhouse seats valued at $650. Second place will receive two reserved grandstand seats and two grandstand admission tickets for third place. The Belmont Stakes kick-off event starts at 6 p.m. with an outdoor concert from local band Tops of Trees, Virginia’s Pat McGee Band at 7 p.m., and concert headliner Blues Traveler.

Broadway will close down traffic for the event, and CDTA will offer a shuttle from two remote parking lots between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. Saratoga Springs Downtown Business Association President Deann Devitt said there’s been a lot of energy in the area leading up to the race.

“Belmont Racing fans will be warmly greeted by our organization members who look forward to the week as an opportunity to showcase their unique shopping, dining, and entertainment venues to new and returning visitors to our historic City of Saratoga Springs,” he said.

Saratoga Springs celebrates Belmont Stakes with free events from Jun. 4

Free events during the 2024 Belmont Stakes Racing Festival will be held in the city of Saratoga Springs, according to the Saratoga Springs Downtown Business Association .

To celebrate the 2024 Belmont Stakes, local businesses will host an array of activities for visitors to Downtown Saratoga Springs from Jun. 4 to Jun. 9, among which, the city's annual themed window decorating contest will be held in front of the City Center (522 Broadway, Saratoga Springs) on Jun. 4 afternoon.

On Jun. 5, an outdoor concert will take place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., featuring Tops of Trees, a Saratoga-based rock and soul ensemble, and Blues Traveler, a Billboard- and Grammy-recognized rock band, etc. While Broadway will be closed for the concert, a complimentary shuttle service will be provided from two remote parking locations from 3 to 11 p.m.
