Ladies European Tour 2024 schedule: Dates, venues and Aramco Team Series events for the new season

The schedule for the 2024 Ladies European Tour season, with a minimum of 31 events across 20 countries as part of a bumper calendar.

The highlights will include the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Solheim Cup in Gainesville, Virginia, and the AIG Women's Open at St Andrews, which will be the final qualification event for the European Solheim Cup team.

There will be more than €34m (£29.3m) in total prize money, including a purse of US$5m (£3.9m) at the Aramco Saudi Ladies International Presented by PIF, which will be played at Riyadh Golf Club for the first time.

The Ladies European Tour has announced a record-breaking 2021 schedule featuring 27 events in 19 different countries, the Solheim Cup and the Summer Olympics, with players competing for a combined prize fund of more than €19 million: an increase of €2 million on the proposed pre-COVID-19 announcement for the 2020 season and €6 million on 2019.

A year on from the monumental Joint Venture between the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and the LET and after a year disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 season is set to not only recapture the momentum of Spring 2020 but welcomes the addition of as many as nine new fully sanctioned tournaments.

With all postponed events returning to the calendar, the season will air an unprecedented 200+ hours of LIVE broadcast, with coverage extending to more than double the number of tournaments compared to 2020.

In a ground-breaking agreement for women’s golf, The Aramco Team Series is the latest edition to the revamped schedule, comprising of four events taking place in New York, London, Singapore and King Abdullah Economic City (near Jeddah) with each tournament carrying a €830,000 prize fund.

Of the nine new events, three include the previously announced €1 million Scandinavian Mixed Hosted by Henrik & Annika, the Creekhouse Ladies Open and the Big Green Egg Dutch Ladies Open, which will be played at the home course of Solheim Cup star and official tournament ambassador Anne van Dam. The inaugural Skaftö Open completes the trio of Swedish tournaments while the Gant Ladies Open marks the LET’s return to Finland for the first time in 10 years.

The season gets underway at the rescheduled Investec South African Women’s Open from 13-16 May before heading to the first Aramco Team Series tournament in New York. Europe will play host to most tournaments between June and September with 23 consecutive weeks of golf on the horizon as the LET visits Czech Republic, England, Finland, France, Spain, Scotland, Sweden and Switzerland as well as Japan for the rescheduled Olympic Games and Toledo, Ohio, USA, for the Solheim Cup.

Further afield for the final quarter of the season, the LET revisits India, Kenya and Morocco after a hiatus in 2020 as well as being provisionally set to play in Thailand and the Philippines, for the first time in LET history. As per last season, Dubai and Saudi Arabia are back on the calendar after successfully staging the Omega Dubai Moonlight Classic and the Aramco Saudi Ladies International presented by Public Investment Fund, respectively.

The Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España will once again play host to the season-finale, with the €600,000 event deciding the season’s Race to Costa del Sol, which is back for a second year after Denmark’s Emily Kristine Pedersen topped the summit in 2020. The ‘Race’ will offer a bonus pool of €250,000 between the top three finishers on the official rankings. The player who tops the rankings will receive an additional €125,000, with the second highest finisher receiving €75,000 and €50,000 for the third placed player following the season-long race.

Speaking about the announcement Alexandra Armas, Ladies European Tour, CEO, said, “We are extremely excited to announce our record-breaking schedule for 2021 and thrilled to offer some good news to our membership after a difficult season last year.”

Armas continued, “The LET is dedicated to supporting our members and growing the game of golf to new and existing markets and we are proud to confirm the return of not only all postponed events but the addition of several new and innovative tournaments, which shows just how much interest and momentum there is behind women’s sport. I would like to thank our sponsors, partners and all the federations that have shown their belief, vision and perseverance and we look forward to delivering an action-packed calendar for our international membership.”

Victorious 2019 Solheim Cup captain Catriona Matthew OBE is once again leading Team Europe this September at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio, and with qualification well underway, the former major winner will be looking to keep an eye on the LET’s exciting young talents.

Catriona commented, “I committed myself to playing on the LET in Europe last year and unfortunately I was not able to play as much as I would have liked so I am pleased to see such a healthy schedule for me to get back out there. I have six captain’s picks for the first time this year and I am looking forward to playing with some of Europe’s best as I look to assemble my team ahead of defending our trophy in September.”

Speaking about the three new events in Sweden, Gunnar Håkansson, General Secretary, Swedish Golf Federation, said, “Swedish golf has a rich history with the LET and we are delighted to be included on such a packed schedule with three very different tournaments in 2021. The Scandinavian Mixed hosted by Henrik & Annika offers a new and innovative way for men and women to compete together while the Skaftö Open and the Creekhouse Ladies Open will be held back-to-back, presenting players with a chance to enjoy two fantastic courses and a diverse playing experience from a testing island links overlooking the North Sea to one of the country’s oldest traditional parkland layouts.”

Commenting on the LET’s return to Finland after a 10-year hiatus, Hanna Hartikainen, President, Finnish Golf Union, said, “It has been a long-term dream to get the Ladies European Tour back in Finland and we are thrilled it will return for the Gant Ladies Open. We have some incredible talent coming out of our country and I am sure the tournament will be a domestic highlight for players and fans alike as the last qualifying event before the Olympics.”

Tours Join Forces for ISPS Handa World Invitational in Northern Ireland

The European Tour, LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour will join forces for another innovative mixed tournament at the ISPS HANDA World Invitational presented by Modest! Golf Management in Northern Ireland, hosted by Galgorm from July 29 – August 1, 2021.

The agreement heralds an exciting new chapter for the event, which has been elevated to European Tour status following a hugely successful inaugural edition on the European Challenge Tour in 2019. The 2021 event will continue to be played over two courses, Galgorm Castle and Massereene and will form part of the European Tour’s 2021 UK Swing, taking in tournaments in Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland and England across July and August.

It will be the first time an event of this format is tri-sanctioned by the European Tour, LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour in the northern hemisphere – following in the footsteps of the ISPS HANDA Vic Open in Australia which has the same format.

The ISPS HANDA World Invitational will attract a field of 288 players, 144 men and 144 women. The women’s field will be split equally between the LPGA and the Ladies European Tour. The $2.35 million purse will be split evenly, with men and women competing for two equal prize funds.

The tournament will count towards the European Tour’s Race to Dubai and carry Team Europe Ryder Cup points, while the women’s tournament will count towards the Race to the CME Globe for women on the LPGA Tour, the Race to Costa del Sol on the Ladies European Tour (LET) and Solheim Cup points for both Team Europe and Team USA.

Following the recent successes of the Open Championship at Royal Portrush in 2019 and last year’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Open at Galgorm, I have no doubt this event will further strengthen Northern Ireland’s reputation for delivering high-profile international competitions.

“It is my hope that the situation with Covid 19 restrictions will improve sufficiently to allow as many spectators as possible to attend the event. However, as the event will reach hundreds of millions of homes across the globe, I am delighted that once again Northern Ireland will get the opportunity to show the world that it is made for golf.”

Niall Horan, owner of Modest! Looking further ahead we are very eager to welcome spectators back when it is safe and appropriate to do so.” 

A traditional 72-hole stroke play format will be in place with men and women competing at two venues, Galgorm Castle Golf Club and Massereene Golf Club, over the first two days before a halfway cut reduces the field to the top 60 professionals, including ties, in the men’s and women’s draws.

The third round will take place at Galgorm Castle before a further 54-hole cut takes place with the top 35 and ties from the men’s and women’s draws advancing to the final round on Sunday.

A new pro-only pre-qualifier event for men and women will take place ahead of the tournament in June with further details to follow, while Golf Ireland’s Ulster Stroke Play Championship will provide elite amateurs with the opportunity to qualify and compete in this ground-breaking event. Amateurs will be able to enter for the Ulster Strokeplay Championship through the Golf Ireland website.

With extensive live coverage via Sky Sports in the UK and Ireland plus international broadcasters globally, the ISPS HANDA World Invitational will enjoy a daily global audience in the region of 640 million, with a unique reach into Asia and North America due to the demand for LPGA coverage in these markets.   

Tournament golf has been played at Galgorm for over a decade with the first Northern Ireland Open hosted at the Ballymena venue in 2010. Since then the tournament has evolved and grown every year to now become one of the most visible events in world golf. After last year’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, the 2021 ISPS HANDA World Invitational has an exciting new dimension as an LPGA Tour sanctioned event.

Players will once again compete at Massereene over the first two days. The Fred W. Hawtree designed parkland is one of Northern Ireland’s oldest venues dating back to 1895.

Berlin [Germany], May 19 (ANI): Tvesa Malik fired an eagle on her way to a fine round of 5-under-67 in the third round of the Amundi German Masters. It was her best round in almost four years on the LET, though she had a 65 in South Africa in February. She moved from T-55 to T-21 with one round to go.

Tvesa, a multiple winner on India's Women's Pro Tour, recorded her first international win on the Sunshine Ladies Tour in South Africa at the SuperSport Ladies Challenge in February this year.

Pranavi Urs (71) and Diksha Dagar (73), the other two Indians to make the cut, were T-31 and T-43. Four other Indian starters Vani Kapoor, Amandeep Drall, Sneha Singh, and amateur Avani Prashanth--did not make the cut.

Local star Alexandra Forsterling (69) and Austrian Emma Spitz (66) were in a shared lead at seven-under-par after 54 holes.

Tvesa, had four birdies in the first six holes, and overall, she had an eagle and five birdies against two bogeys. The eagle came on the first hole, her 10th hole, as she started on the tenth.

Pranavi had seven birdies against four bogeys and a double, while Diksha had three birdies against four bogeys in her 73.

Slovenia's Ana Belac and Germany's Patricia Isabel Schmidt sit one shot further back in a tie for third place on six-under-par. English duo Eleanor Givens and Bronte Law are in a share of fifth place on five-under-par, and it was a great day for Givens, who fired a 65 (-7).

The European Tour, LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour will join forces for another innovative mixed tournament at the ISPS HANDA World Invitational presented by Modest! Golf Management in Northern Ireland, hosted by Galgorm from July 28 – August 1, 2021.

The agreement heralds an exciting new chapter for the event, which has been elevated to European Tour status following a hugely successful inaugural edition on the European Challenge Tour in 2019. The 2021 event will continue to be played over two courses, Galgorm Castle and Massereene and will form part of the European Tour’s 2021 UK Swing, taking in tournaments in Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland and England across July and August.

It will be the first time an event of this format is tri-sanctioned by the European Tour, LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour in the northern hemisphere – following in the footsteps of the ISPS HANDA Vic Open in Australia which has the same format.

The ISPS HANDA World Invitational will attract a field of 288 players, 144 men and 144 women. The women’s field will be split equally between the LPGA and the Ladies European Tour. The $2.35 million purse will be split evenly, with men and women competing for two equal prize funds.

The tournament will count towards the European Tour’s Race to Dubai and carry Team Europe Ryder Cup points, while the women’s tournament will count towards the Race to the CME Globe for women on the LPGA Tour, the Race to Costa del Sol on the Ladies European Tour (LET) and Solheim Cup points for both Team Europe and Team USA.

“It is my hope that the situation with Covid 19 restrictions will improve sufficiently to allow as many spectators as possible to attend the event. However, as the event will reach hundreds of millions of homes across the globe, I am delighted that once again Northern Ireland will get the opportunity to show the world that it is made for golf.”

A traditional 72-hole stroke play format will be in place with men and women competing at two venues, Galgorm Castle Golf Club and Massereene Golf Club, over the first two days before a halfway cut reduces the field to the top 60 professionals, including ties, in the men’s and women’s draws.

The third round will take place at Galgorm Castle before a further 54-hole cut takes place with the top 35 and ties from the men’s and women’s draws advancing to the final round on Sunday.

A new pro-only pre-qualifier event for men and women will take place ahead of the tournament in June with further details to follow, while Golf Ireland’s Ulster Stroke Play Championship will provide elite amateurs with the opportunity to qualify and compete in this ground-breaking event. Amateurs will be able to enter for the Ulster Strokeplay Championship through the Golf Ireland website.

With extensive live coverage via Sky Sports in the UK and Ireland plus international broadcasters globally, the ISPS HANDA World Invitational will enjoy a daily global audience in the region of 640 million, with a unique reach into Asia and North America due to the demand for LPGA coverage in these markets.

Tournament golf has been played at Galgorm for over a decade with the first Northern Ireland Open hosted at the Ballymena venue in 2010. Since then the tournament has evolved and grown every year to now become one of the most visible events in world golf. After last year’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, the 2021 ISPS HANDA World Invitational has an exciting new dimension as an LPGA Tour sanctioned event.

Players will once again compete at Massereene over the first two days. The Fred W. Hawtree designed parkland is one of Northern Ireland’s oldest venues dating back to 1895.

Golf: Tvesa’s fine 67 sees her rise in German Masters on Ladies European Tour

Tvesa Malik fired an eagle on her way to a fine round of 5-under 67 in the third round of the Amundi German Masters, her best round in almost four years on the LET, though she had a 65 in South Africa in February. With this round, she moved from T-55 to T-21 with one round to go.

Tvesa, a multiple-time winner on India’s Women’s Pro Tour, recorded her first international win on the Sunshine Ladies Tour in South Africa at the SuperSport Ladies Challenge in February this year.

Pranavi Urs (71) and Diksha Dagar (73), the other two Indians to make the cut, were T-31 and T-43. Four other Indian starters, Vani Kapoor, Amandeep Drall, Sneha Singh, and amateur Avani Prashanth, did not make the cut.

Local star Alexandra Forsterling (69) and Austrian Emma Spitz (66) were in shared lead at seven-under-par after 54 holes.

Tvesa had four birdies in the first six holes and overall she had an eagle and five birdies against two bogeys. The eagle came on the first hole, her 10th hole, as she started on the tenth.

Pranavi had seven birdies against four bogeys and a double, while Diksha had three birdies against four bogeys in her 73.

Slovenia’s Ana Belac and Germany’s Patricia Isabel Schmidt sit one shot further back in a tie for third place on six-under-par. English duo Eleanor Givens and Bronte Law are in a share of fifth place on five-under-par and it was a great day for Givens who fired a 65 (-7).

Five players are in a tie for seventh place with Finland’s Noora Komulainen, England’s Gabriella Cowley, Ireland’s Lauren Walsh, Spain’s Luna Sobron Galmes, and German amateur Helen Briem all on four-under-par.
