Stage or no stage, Coldplay knows how to draw a crowd.

Ahead of the band’s first of four Dublin concerts on Thursday, Aug. 29, lead vocalist Chris Martin caused quite a stir in the Irish capital when he surprised Grafton Street-goers with a performance of new song “WE PRAY” — including with all of its collaborators.

In the evening of Wednesday, Aug. 28, Nigerian singer Burna Boy , English rapper Little Simz, Palestinian-Chilean singer Elyanna and Argentine singer Tini — all of whom are featured on the track, which dropped Aug. 23 — hit the streets with Martin, 47, for the pop-up performance.

With nothing but a speaker and a few microphones, the star-studded group each performed their parts as the crowd filmed and cheered, as shown in footage shared to Coldplay’s social media accounts.

“On my knees, I pray, as I sleep and wake / 'Cause inside my head is a frightening place,” Burna Boy, 33, sings in one clip . “Keep a smiling face, only by this grace / 'Cause love's more than I can take.”

Other footage shows the group of musicians smiling, dancing and singing together as people not only crowd around them, but also stick their bodies out of windows to get a peek at the performance.

In an Instagram post dedicated to the special rendition of “WE PRAY,” Coldplay dubbed the evening at Grafton Street a “magic moment.”

“WE PRAY. Grafton Street, Dublin,” the post reads. “Magic moment with @burnaboygram, @littlesimz, @elyanna, @tinistoessel. Thanks to everyone who showed up, and to TikTok for helping to make it happen.”

Burna Boy also documented the special moment, sharing more angles of the Grafton Street crowd on Instagram Story, as well as a sweet behind-the-scenes look at the group moments before their pop-up.

In the clip, Martin appears to be giving the artists a pep talk of sorts as they put their hands together for a pre-show circle.

“That’s all,” the Coldplay frontman finishes in the clip as someone off-camera yells, “You’re gonna be amazing, guys!”

The performance comes amid Coldplay’s A Head Full of Dreams Tour. After performing four shows at Dublin’s Croke Park, the band will have a nearly two-month break, during which their upcoming album, Moon Music , is scheduled to drop on Oct. 4.

The group will then embark on the tour’s Australian leg for a slew of shows in Melbourne and Sydney before wrapping up the tour in Auckland, New Zealand, on Nov. 16.

Martin Lawrence Jokingly Addresses Stroke Rumors During Standup: 'I'm Probably High'

Lawrence continued his Y'all Know What It Is! Tour with a stop in Detroit, where he joked about speculation surrounding his health.

Martin Lawrence hilariously dismissed rumors about his health during a stand-up performance in Detroit this week.

On Friday (August 30), the actor-comedian was performing at Little Caesars Arena as part of his Y’all Know What It Is! Tour, where he opened his set with jokes about stroke allegations.

"Motherfuckers talking about me and shit," he said around the 1:05 mark of the video below. "Talking about I had a stroke and shit. Does this look like a motherfucker that had a stroke?"

The 59-year-old demonstrated how agile he is, hopping across the stage before adding, "That look like a motherfucker that had a stroke? I be strokin'."

"Then they talking about I'm talking slow and lethargic and all that..I'm probably high," he continued.

During the theatrical rollout of Lawrence's latest flick, Bad Boys: Ride or Die , some on social media noticed that in a few interviews, Lawerence appeared to be disoriented. He would ultimately dispel the speculation on Hot 97's Ebro in the Morning .

"I’m fine. I’m in Gods hands," Lawrence told the host. "I’m blessed. I’m glad to be waking up everyday and everything. No need for people to be concerned."

He continued, "I'm healthy as hell. Stop the rumors."

Everything old is new again: The story behind East Lake's historic restoration

Club’s restoration, which will be unveiled at this week’s tour championship, harkens to proud history.

Change Text Size

ATLANTA – It was a dreary winter day when Chad Parker led Andrew Green into the basement of East Lake Golf Club’s clubhouse. Green was making one of his first visits to the club, but before he did any digging in the dirt, he wanted to sift through the club’s extensive archives.

Parker, East Lake’s president and general manager, gave Green a quick tour before returning to his office and the duties of his day job. Hours later, as Parker prepared to leave for the day, he realized that the man charged with bringing East Lake’s prolific history back to life was still underground, immersed in the details of the club’s storied past. Parker made sure to grab Green some sustenance before packing up, as Green’s passion for his work had led him to overlook his most basic needs.

“I just realized, This guy hasn't eaten all day; how can I be hospitable and help him out? ” Parker said. “I don’t know how long he was in there. I left and told the guard, ‘When that car’s gone, you can lock the building up.’”

Green is one of today’s top architects thanks in large part to the work he’s done restoring other Donald Ross classics like Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio, and Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York, site of last year’s PGA Championship. Green calls East Lake an “amazing oasis of history,” and his efforts to return the club to its roots will be unveiled at this week’s TOUR Championship.

The top 30 in the FedExCup will be among the first to play a course that looks dramatically different than it did 12 months ago. Green’s restoration harkens back to East Lake’s golden age, when champions like Bobby Jones and Alexa Stirling were roaming the grounds, while promoting more compelling competition for the best players of today.

“We wanted to make sure we created extra opportunities for exciting golf,” Green said.

What once was a one-dimensional test will now promote more variance in scoring and will challenge players in a variety of ways.

Circular putting surfaces with steep back-to-front slope have been replaced by greens with unique slopes and shapes. Players will need to decide if they’re brave enough to attack pins set on plateaus and small fingers protruding from the greens.

Some putting surfaces, like on Nos. 5 and 6, have been moved to give holes more character and curve. The bunkers have a classic look, with Green restoring the grass-faced traps that were more common in Ross’ day.

Instead of being pushed to the edges of the fairways, ready to catch wayward shots, the traps are cut into the landing areas, forcing players to decide if they’ll play over, around or short of the sand. There is more movement in the fairways, as well, and added humps and hollows.

“I think there's a lot more variety around the course and a lot more decision making,” said eight-time PGA TOUR winner Stewart Cink, an East Lake member. “Golf is a complex sport and there's some complexity around the golf course that you have to deal with. Decision making is going to be rewarded.”

The eighth hole was turned into a short (and potentially drivable) par 4 to add excitement as players near the turn. And No. 14, once a long par 4, has been stretched into a par 5. Views of the course’s namesake body of water and the Atlanta skyline also were restored throughout the course.

When the club went searching for an architect to bring back the course’s earlier look, it didn’t take long to realize Green was the man for the job. Parker recalls their introductory phone call, which he expected to last five minutes, stretching for 45 instead. Green already was well-versed in Ross’ work and understood East Lake’s place in the game, both as the venue for the TOUR Championship and the catalyst for change in an East Lake community that was once riddled with crime and drug use. East Lake is now a shining example for the “purpose-built communities” model that has transformed cities across the country.

“We're constantly evolving in terms of who we are, but we also remember who we were in the past and what happened here,” said Parker, who calls the club “historic but progressive.” The same could be said of Green, whose work has produced courses with a classic look that still challenge modern players. An ardent student of history, he also listened to rap artists like Ludacris and Outkast while shaping East Lake’s greens, continuing his tradition of using local artists for auditory inspiration.

As his extended basement session suggests, Green has a reputation as a voracious researcher, using historic documents to drive his work. The original documentation for Ross’ design, though, was likely lost in a fire that destroyed East Lake’s clubhouse in 1925. That sent Green looking for other resources.

Century-old newspaper articles and the writings of Jones’ biographer, O.B. Keeler, were crucial, offering accounts of strokes that Jones played on the course. Keeler’s description of a heroic shot Jones played from a “chasm” right of the 16th green led Green to build a steep drop-off there.

He also did extensive interviews with Tom Cousins, the man credited with resuscitating East Lake in the early 1990s, and Charlie Harrison, another of East Lake’s great amateurs who played alongside Jones. Harrison recalled that the bunker short of the par-3 11th was the deepest on the course, inspiring Green to revive the punishing pit.

The driving document for Green’s work was a 1949 aerial of the course, one that Green uncovered by scouring government databases.

“The photo was almost high-definition quality, incredibly sharp,” said Green. “You could blow it up and really see a lot of detail.”

He’s found that the years following World War II offer some of the best aerials, likely because of tactics and technology refined during the war. That was the case with this crisp photograph from the air above East Lake, which helped guide Green’s decision-making. (Eventually such photos were replaced by satellite imagery, which isn’t nearly as crisp.)

The photo of East Lake not only showed the state of the course in the middle of the 20th century but also the remnants of features that had been buried with the passage of time. The Great Depression muted many courses’ most distinct features because of the cost to maintain them, but the photo showed details like the scar of a road that used to run through the course, plus a trench bunker on the 17th hole that was a remnant from Civil War encampments. Green restored that, creating a long, narrow trap that bisects the hole.

The East Lake preserved in that photo still had a lot of the original Ross features, but it was about to undergo several changes. George Cobb renovated the course to make it more challenging for the 1963 Ryder Cup. Then, as the surrounding neighborhood declined in the ensuing decades, so did the club. Cousins devised a plan to resuscitate it, bringing in Rees Jones to breathe life back into the course.

What remained was a course that was challenging enough to host the TOUR Championship but also had become repetitive and predictable, a series of straight fairways and circular greens devoid of identifying features. The front nine ran up and down the hillside above the lake. The back nine offered little more variety, even if it benefitted from more recognizable holes like the island-green 15th and the par-5 18th.

The aerial photograph from 1949, combined with on-the-ground photography shot before the pre-Ryder Cup renovations, gave Green a good sense of the old East Lake, but it also gave him room for his own interpretation. The old eighth green ran back up the hill, away from the lake, but he created a short par 4 with a green flush against the water and several strategically placed traps that will require deft navigation to avoid. The green also was moved closer to the tee.

The East Lake of 1949 showed two greens on each hole, one Bermudagrass surface for warm weather and another built with a cool-weather grass. Sometimes the greens were adjacent to each other. On other holes, they were set far apart. Building two greens with two grasses wasn’t an option for Green, but he designed putting surfaces that paid homage to that history and bisected several of the new greens with ridges.

The first hole used to have a green flush against Alston Drive, which borders the course. While it wouldn’t be wise to build a green that close to a road today, Green designed a two-level putting surface with a small bunker in front to emulate the pair of putting surfaces that used to be on the hole.

The next hole offers an even more dramatic example. The green in the aerial photo is shaped like a diamond because the two putting surfaces are triangles pointing in opposite directions. Green recreated that shape and ran a ridge through the middle of the green.

It illustrates how the new greens will introduce a wider range of scores.

When the hole is placed in the front-left, players can use the ridge to funnel shots toward the target. Flags on the back of the green will be protected by that ridge, requiring players to take an aerial approach to that back plateau. They’ll have a smaller landing area to access that hole location, and the short grass at the rear of the green could send off-target shots even farther away from the flag.

“The old East Lake, the ball's not rolling anywhere,” Parker said. “The golf course is going to play more extreme because of the roll.”

Adding short grass around the putting surfaces is another way Green hopes to increase variability in the scoring. It not only gives players more options for recovery shots, but it also requires them to put more thought into their approach shots by increasing the penalty for straying from their target. East Lake’s prior iteration – with back-to-front sloping greens and thick rough – meant balls wouldn’t travel far from their landing spot.

In that vein, the lone bunker was removed from East Lake’s most famous green, the island 15th. The putting surface is now shaped like a mitten, with the left bunker replaced by a chipping area behind the green. There’s no more sand to serve as a soft landing spot for wayward shots. Instead, the slope behind the green could repel shots into the water. Green said the putting surface now looks even more intimidating than before.

Check out the newly restored No. 15 at East Lake Golf Club

“Eliminating the bunker makes it feel like there’s not a place to miss,” he said. “It’s either green or hazard. The back of 15 and the shape of the green is very reminiscent of its history.”

It’s another example of how East Lake is moving forward by going back in time.

But even if you don`t find your machine amoungst the listed machines, have a look anyway as this list is not up to date I found manuals for a Abene for example and these are not on the list Also I found several South Bend manuals like the 7 9 and 14'' peter from holland

I have an Ernault Somua AC280 and was able to find a french manual for it at the site. Does anyone know where I can find an english version? Thanks, -Tri

The link posted by Peterve. Is registration now required to view manuals? Site will not accept my registration? Recently I was able to view a Graziano Sag 14 manual on the linked site.

I am having the same problems Perhaps a french member can shim in Peter from holland

Peter - I think you may have invented a great new phrase - to 'shim in' - really descriptive and useful especially for this type of forum. - Congratulations!

Just had a look at Peter's link, the pages come up but no active links in the posts. Tried as a 'guest' as well as registered. T's works fine- once you register.

tour lefevre martin

Bricoleur_69

Beyond Downtown: The Edge and More

This in-depth tour delves further into St. Pete’s past by visiting parts of the city that many people have never seen: the Edge District, the Gas Plant, and Methodist Town.

Once the hub of St. Pete’s industrial life, the Edge is now an eclectic mix of historic spaces and modern amenities, bordered on either side by historically African-American neighborhoods that also offered a refuge for some of St. Pete’s Jewish merchants during periods of anti-semitism. We’ll visit the remaining buildings and lost landmarks of these constantly changing neighborhoods.

PERFECT FOR: Tourists + Locals looking for a deeper dive into the city’s beginnings, African-American history, and Jewish history.

THE DETAILS: Rotating Sun. afternoons • 1.5 hours • 1.5 miles

Specialty Tours

Specialty neighborhood tours are offered on a rotating basis, usually one per month. Check our calendar for availability, or email Monica to  request a particular tour.

Duration: 90 Minutes Distance: 1.5 Miles

Originally home to farms and orange groves, Round Lake became one of the first neighborhoods to be developed outside of the downtown core in the early 1900s. Home to some of the city’s oldest homes, this National Register Historic District retains all of the charm and ambience that made it so attractive as the city’s first “streetcar suburb.” It features what is likely the city’s oldest house and boasts a fantastic mix of architectural styles, including over 200 Craftsman bungalows. During the Great Depression, Round Lake residents capitalized on St. Pete’s popularity as America’s “health city” by building boarding houses and mother-in-law apartments that offered tourists easy access to nearby social hubs like the Coliseum and the Shuffleboard Club, and maximized property values for the owners. The picturesque lake that gave the area its name has survived attempts to fill it in, and challenges of crime and homelessness on its banks in the 1990s and early 2000s. Today the shops and restaurants on the lake’s periphery again attract vibrant crowds, and real estate values are soaring. Join us as we reveal the history of gems like the hidden horseshoe courts, the towering Banyan tree, the magnificent Boone House, and more.

Duration: 90 Minutes Distance: 1 Mile

The moment one enters the hidden neighborhood of Driftwood they notice an atmospheric change. Perhaps it’s the dense tree canopy whose shade keeps the neighborhood remarkably cool, even in the doldrums of summer. Or perhaps it’s the charming homes nestled along the shores of Big Bayou, designed by architect Archie Parrish and artist Mark Dixon Dodd. Maybe it’s the depth of history to be found in this tiny enclave, from early Native American inhabitation, through a Civil War skirmish, to the founding of the earliest white settlement in the city that would come to be known as St. Petersburg. Whatever it is, there is something special about the neighborhood of Driftwood.

The Historic Old Northeast’s canopied brick-lined streets and hex-block sidewalks charm residents and visitors alike, and its proximity to St. Pete’s burgeoning downtown has made it one of the most desirable neighborhoods in the city. But the neighborhood also offers a fascinating lesson in urban history and design, from the grand vision of developer Perry Snell, to its period of decline and later renaissance. In addition to enjoying the diverse architecture, you’ll learn the history of the “mother-in-law” apartment and why there are so many in the neighborhood, what an analemmatic sundial is (and why there’s one located in the Old Northeast) and which house was owned by the founder of the world’s largest broiler-chick hatchery!

Join us on the romantic and historic Pink Streets of Pinellas Point. Learn about the Native American princess whose daring story of rescue may have influenced the later tale of Pocahontas, and see the magnificent Indian Mound that still remains from her time.  We’ll lament the loss of the millions of wading birds that once called this area home, while also celebrating the achievements of the early environmentalist Katherine Bell Tippetts, whose name now graces part of the nine-acre park in this splendid neighborhood.  Marvel at the Argenteau Castle, once home to a Belgian princess and, later, Mayor Al Lang. And of course, we’ll talk about why those streets are pink, and how they keep them that way!

Duration: 90 Minutes Distance: 1.25 Miles

The earliest of St. Pete’s “streetcar suburbs” Roser Park remains perhaps the most visually striking neighborhood in the city. Straddling the storied Booker Creek, the hills (yes, hills!) of Roser Park along with its eclectic mix of architectural styles can mislead a visitor to conclude they’ve left Florida altogether! Founded in 1918, by Charels Roser – who may or may not have invented the Fig Newton cookie – the neighborhood was designed on the principles of the City Beautiful movement, and was designated as the first local historic district in St. Petersburg. Bordered on one side by the historic Greenwood Cemetery, the mix of history, beauty, architecture, and topography make Roser Park one of the most fascinating neighborhoods in the city.

Duration: 2 hours Distance: 2 Miles

Join us for an introduction to the history of the Deuces, the historically African American neighborhood along 22nd Street South. This tour reveals the vibrant business life of the historic corridor, introduces the legendary Elder Jordan, and shows some of the remaining landmarks like the Manhattan Casino, the Jordan Elementary School, and the churches along the Avenue of Faith.  We will visit the Woodson Museum and discuss the building’s evolution from a bustling community center to a museum showcasing both local and national history and culture, and share the grand vision for the museum’s future. Drawing upon research from the groundbreaking African-American Heritage Trail, we will pay tribute to tireless foot soldiers like Dr. Ralph Wimbish and Dr. Robert Swain, who desegregated Spring Training through their heroic activism, and trailblazers like Fanny Ayer Ponder, an educator who in a single night sold $85,000 in U.S. World War II bonds, and founded the local chapter of the National Council of Negro Women.

Private tours and presentations.

Monica can offer any of the above tours (or a combination of several) as private tours, on foot or by bus as a step-on-guide. The minimum charge for a private tour is $250. For groups of more than 10 people, an additional charge is added per person.

Monica also offers a number of dynamic lectures with outstanding visual aids in the form of a Power-Point type presentation. Lectures last 45 minutes to 1 hour, with time for questions. Rates for presentations are negotiable, with a discount for non-profit organizations. Potential topics include:

 • Becoming the Burg : How St. Petersburg evolved from a sleepy fishing village in 1888 to the dynamic city we see today. A history of the city and its major touchpoints and leaders throughout the past.
 • St. Petersburg’s African-American History
 • St. Petersburg’s early Jewish History

Meet our Historian

Monica Kile has lived in St. Petersburg since 2003, when she became the first student in the newly established Florida Studies  master’s degree  program at USF St. Petersburg.  She ended up falling in love with both the city and fellow graduate student Jon Kile, and never left.

Monica has served as the Executive Director of the local historic preservation advocacy organization Preserve the ‘Burg, the Director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Eckerd College, and the Special Projects Director at the Florida Humanities Council. But Monica’s first love is tour-guiding, a love that began at 22 years old when she took a job distributing leaflets for an English-speaking walking tour company in Berlin, Germany, and continued with leading guided tours in St. Augustine and throughout Florida.

Monica holds a B.S. in Communication from Florida State University, a M.L.A from the University of South Florida, and is a Certified Tour Director from the International Tour Management Institute in San Francisco. She loves the opportunity that tours present for introducing St. Petersburg’s   fascinating history to residents and visitors alike.
