Casting for Travel Guides Series 4 is Now Open

Casting for Travel Guides Series 4 is Now Open

The Nine Network today announced the return of one of Australia’s favourite shows, Travel Guides, for a fourth series – and are now searching for new groups of holidaymakers to become travel critics.

In 2019, the third series of Travel Guides has been a ratings smash, consistently winning its timeslot and topping the key advertising demographics. With an increase in free to air audiences year on year of more than 14%, making it the most watched season to date*. Add to that huge increases with video on demand of 79%.   Nine’s Head of Content Production and Development, Adrian Swift, said: “Forget spending hours trawling the internet for holiday ideas when our Travel Guides can do it for you and make you laugh along the way.

“Australian audiences have proven once again they love to watch our travel critics deliver their own unique take on destinations, whether it be a luxury or budget holiday and everything in between.”

The Nine Network is looking for new groups of holidaymakers to join the next series – people who love to travel, express their opinions and enjoy having a laugh.

In the fourth series, many of your favourite Travel Guides will also return.

Each week our Travel Guides experience the same international and domestic holidays, review the same accommodation, food and local sights, and then rate their stay out of five stars.

If you are up for the adventure of a lifetime, head to www.travelguidestv.com.au to complete the online application.  Applications close at midnight on Monday, April 15, 2019.

Series four of Travel Guides will begin production later this year.

Whoever they get, I really hope the ‘Target boys’ stick around for a while. I’ve really enjoyed watching these three grow, it really does show how travel can expand people’s views. They’re fun loving interesting guys that have a go and I love that! Great show and I’m really enjoying this current series.

Nine extends casting for 'best gig in TV' Travel Guides Season 4

By Katherine Scott | 5 years ago

Want to travel the world for free as a TV travel critic? Duh, who doesn't.

A Nine spokesperson has dubbed it "the best gig in TV" and they've already received a whopping 11,000 applications for the role -- the biggest response in the show's history. But happily, Nine have just announced they'll be extending casting to their hit reality series Travel Guides for season four.

The application submission deadline has been pushed out to midnight Sunday April 28, 2019.

While many of your favourite guides get set to return for another season, Nine is looking for a new set of globe-trotters to take on the envious role of reviewer ahead of production later this year.

Keen to know what it takes to score such a coveted TV role? We put it to one half of Travel Guides ' sister act, Stack, who said the show producers are after something "different".

"I think it takes a bubbly personality and an honest person to be considered for Travel Guides, I think they look for something a bit different" she told 9Honey Travel.

"Don't bulls--t on your application, be true and honest about yourself. And remember you will be travelling and living in each other's pockets so you want to have a very good relationship with the people you travel with," she cautioned.

Oh, and you may want to check with your fellow wannabe guide that they're up for the adventure before applying.

"When I put Mel and my application I didn't even tell her that I had," Stack revealed.

"I did it standing in-front of our house under a big tree and just winged it. I made sure I put the few key points they asked, but I had never done a selfie video before so I’m pretty sure it was really rough."

The network are on the hunt for candidates who "love to travel, express their opinions and enjoy having a laugh," according to the media release.

Qualities such as being "the funniest person you know" will put you on the front foot for the position, and there are plenty of perks for the lucky candidates who secure this TV gig.

"New potential Travel Guides have every thing to look forward to. It's a few months of the year you're travelling the world, not having to worry about organising anything, working with the amazing crew, going to places, and doing activities you never thought you'd do. It will be the best thing you ever do," Stack said.

Nine's head of content production and development, Adrian Swift, said: "We're thrilled by the level of interest in becoming our newest Travel Guides but it's not surprising. It's the best gig in TV."

To be considered, you must apply as a group of two or four people, aged 18 or over, and available between July and November 2019 for filming.

Earlier this week, they announced they’re now holding auditions for next season.

This could be you/us, swimming with fish in the Philippines. Post continues after video.

YOU GET TO TRAVEL FOR FREE.

With no competition, no running and no doing of the stupid challenges. You literally just…enjoy. With cameras in your face.

Done Channel Nine. Done.

Some of the destinations that have featured in the past include Tokyo, Oman, South Africa, Bali and Western Australia. We’re pretty OK with any of those tbh.

Travellers don’t know where they’re headed, they’re just given a packing list and a temperature guide before they depart.

The T’c and C’s specify you must be a group of 2-4, be an Australian citizen, and be aged over 18.

You also have to be free to travel between July and November 2019.

Annnnnnd, we’ve just read that you can’t be a member of a web-based media outlet in Australia.

We’ll just be over here, licking out wounds.

'They put their gear down and walked up to the reception desk and in the space of four seconds these guys who had followed them from the airport swooped in, picked up the gear and took off,' he added.
