A POPULAR Italian chain has shocked food fans by closing down one of its Scottish restaurants.

Bosses at Tony Macaroni made the call to close doors at the branch, one of the last ones in the area.

The shock closure was announced for the pasta provider's eatery at the Parkgrove Shopping Centre, just outside Edinburgh .

The bad news came with no warning for punters.

Hungry locals have been dining at the restaurant for ten years.

Customers will have their last chance to grab some Italian scran at the branch before it closes this weekend.

But bosses have yet to confirm the reason why they are closing their doors.

It is the second bit of bad news for Tony Mac's this week.

It was announced on Tuesday that the food firm's long-running sponsorship of a Scots football stadium is coming to an end.

The company has been the sponsor for Livingston 's stadium for the past nine seasons- which saw it hilariously dubbed 'The Spaghettihad' by Scotland 's patter-savvy football fans.

They also sponsored the West Lothian side's kits for the last eleven seasons.

Livingston FC Chief Executive Officer Dave Black said:“We are grateful to Sep and the Tony Macaroni chain as a whole for their continued support over the last 11 years.

“In this day and age, it can be difficult to encourage  companies  to take up sponsorship packages but to have had that support from Tony Macaroni for such a prolonged period of time has been tremendous for the club."

Customers have continually been battered with the bad news that their favourite shops , bars and restaurants have been closing down.

Businesses are struggling with rising costs and falling footfall as punters have less cash in their pockets to splurge on meals and nights out.

Locals in one city recently said their city was "in terminal decline" after a major retailer closed a massive shop which has been serving the public for over 50 years.

As the death of the country's High Street continues, another household name with THOUSANDS of shops announced closures .
