Get Your Garden On: The Best Central Ohio Home And Garden Tours

As summer approaches, so does home and garden season. In recent years, television channels like HGTV and DIY have turned home design, decor, and landscaping into full-blown obsessions for many viewers. If you don’t know about farmhouse chic , you’ve probably been living under a rock.

Columbus has tons of beautiful neighborhoods, and even more beautiful homes. Once a year, neighborhoods like to show off their best and brightest homes and gardens by putting on a tour.

Some tours are self-guided walking tours, while others offer a shuttle from house to house. They vary in dates, price, and even style. But they all share one common factor: They showcase the best homes in our city.

Bexley House and Garden Tour

On June 2, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., the Bexley Women’s Club will return to showcase both interiors and exteriors of six beautiful homes on the Bexley House and Garden Tour. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 the day of. The Bexley BEAT bus will be available to shuttle between houses and there will also be bicycle parking at each location and food trucks at Columbus School for Girls. Westgate Home and Garden Tour

The Westgate Home and Garden Tour will return on Saturday, June 8 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Westgate is a unique neighborhood in Columbus, offering some adorable, charming homes. Tickets are $17 in advance or $20 on the day of, before 1:30. More info: Westgate Home and Garden Tour

German Village Haus Und Garten Tour

On Sunday, June 23 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., German Village will hold its 63rd Annual Haus Und Garten tour. In one of the most well-known home and garden tours, thousands of visitors will get a look at these gorgeous historic homes and their modern, updated interiors. Merion Village Garden Tour

The Merion Village Home and Garden tour will take place on Sunday, July 14. This is the 23rd year for the garden tour event, which is free and open to the public! Come over to my neck of the woods and see an enchanting garden or two. More info: Merion Village Garden Tour

Olde Towne East Tour Of Historic Homes

Olde Towne East Summer Tour of Historic Homes typically features gorgeous, unique, and beautifully crafted historic houses throughout the neighborhood. This year’s tour will take place on July 14, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. More info: Olde Towne East Tour Of Historic Homes

Short North Tour of Homes & Gardens

The Short North Tour of Homes & Gardens may not take place until September 15-16, but it’s one everyone should have on their calendars. The two-day affair typically includes a Pre-Tour and Party the night before, followed by the main event on Sunday. This year will see the return of the shuttles, making it even easier for visitors to travel between stops. More info: Short North Tour of Homes & Gardens

Haus Und Garten Tour takes German Village residents inside historic homes

COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) — The German Village Society hosted its 63rd annual Haus Und Garten Tour on Sunday.

Homeowners in the German Village open their doors to community members so that they can get an inside look at the historic houses and gardens. “It’s an important way to showcase German Village for the rest of the city and raise funds for the really important work done by the society,” said Lisa Stein, a homeowner in the neighborhood.

Event organizers say it’s all about showing how the neighborhood is preserving history while also incorporating modern design. Visitors got to walk through the homes while also learning the history of each dwelling.

“This event really showcases the inside of these houses that we get to drive by, see and marvel at all the time. Now you get to see the inside that every homeowner makes their own,” said Sean Kessler, executive director of German Village Society.

Kessler says now that the event is wrapped up, the German Village Society will meet again in a few weeks to begin planning for next year’s tour.

Stroll through serene outdoor living spaces providing homeowners with a tranquil retreat and yet only a few steps from High St., plus a brand new Bali-inspired mid-rise with specifically designed environments for personal growth & well being. Leave serenity and visit the vibrant home of a creative duo that serves as a showcase for their art, mid century modern collection and a kitch plastic display that defies description!

Go ‘behind the scenes’ at Short North Tour of Homes & Gardens where tour attendees get an exclusive chance to visit the private homes and outdoor spaces of residents in the Short North’s Italian Village & Victorian Village.

Start your tour at Goodale Park Shelter House where you’ll buy a tour ticket to enter all homes tour. If you pre-purchased your ticket online, your name will be at the Will-Call desk where you’ll receive your ticket.

This is a self guided walking tour and if you prefer to ride, attendees are welcome to board shuttles on the tour route – hop on and off at any of the tour homes.  Visit homes in any order you prefer, go at your own pace and enjoy your day! Tour stops are identified by tour banners and signs indicate shuttle stops nearby each tour home.

Local history and eclectic architecture on view at Short North Tour of Homes & Gardens

Lovers of local history and architecture can go behind the scenes this weekend to view and learn about the extraordinary array of homes that characterize the Short North neighborhood.

Attendees at the 49th Annual Short North Tour of Homes & Gardens will get the chance to visit private residences and outdoor spaces in Italian Village and Victorian Village, from grand Queen Anne-style mansions to whimsically decorated loft condos.

Pricey penthouse: A look inside Short North penthouse listed for $1.5 million

On Saturday, a preview tour will be given followed by a rooftop party at Hubbard Park Place, 797 N. Wall St. Guests can get a sneak peek at the homes from 4:30-7 p.m., then return to Hubbard Park Place to party from 7-10 p.m.

Partygoers will enjoy catered hors d'oeuvres, an open bar, treats from Short North businesses, live music and free admission to Sunday's home tour.

Tickets for the preview and party are $125 at shortnorthcivic.org/home-tour .

The tour of homes and gardens starts at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Goodale Park shelter house. This is a self-guided, walking tour, but if you prefer to ride, there will be shuttles on the tour route; look for signs near each home.

Participants can visit the homes in any order they wish, going at their own pace. Tour stops will be identified by banners.

Tickets for the tour are $25 at shortnorthcivic.org/home-tour .

The homes tour and preview party are Short North Civic Association’s annual fundraising events with proceeds supporting Screen on the Green, Goodale Park Music Series, Neil Avenue planters, streetscape medians and community projects.

Owners : Donna and Bruce Siple

The Siples' apartment, full of funky, eclectic delights, includes vintage toys, Art Deco vases and glassware, Mona Lisa images and serigraphs by Zap Comix illustrator Robert Crumb. A collector of plastic items since childhood, Bruce Siple has thousands of toys, picnicware pieces, bottle caps, broken taillights, colorful vinyl records and other items, many of them displayed on a 17-by-9-foot wall.

Owners : Joe Pimmel and Nick Rediger

Constructed at a time when most homes in Columbus were built using brick, this Victorian boasts a rusticated stone front. Brick was readily available and affordable, while stone was a luxury that had to be imported, dressed and sized. This made it a symbol of prosperity.

775 Park St.

Owners : Beth and Rob Vogt

This classic Queen Anne home, built in 1888, is noted for its asymmetrical façade and large front window. The house sold in 1891 at a sheriff's sale and was used by Ohio Medical College before being converted into apartments in the 1960s. The Vogts bought the home in 1990, renovated it and had the original porches duplicated from an early photo.

Owners : Seth Lawton and Reid Sprite

There's an air of grandeur surrounding this example of Italianate elegance with Victorian flair. The house sports elaborately carved stone lintels over its windows and doors and an intricate 2-story bay window on the side.

This residence, built no later than 1887, is also an Italianate structure with Victorian influences. At some point, the house was divided into two units before being reunited many years later.

Owner : Eric Harter

Located in the heart of Italian Village, this 1890s industrial brick structure features an unusual sawtooth roof design with four rows of north-facing clerestory windows. In the late '90s, the building was converted into three residential condos. Among Harter's avant-garde décor are a vintage camera collection and interactive sculptures.

Owner : Kaufman Development

Green|House in the Short North is a unique blend of modern residential space with nature and wellness. Perks of living in this midrise include an elevated pool deck with hot and cold plunges, a rooftop meditation terrace and a wellness corridor with a sauna and treatments by wellness providers.

The Oddfellows building is a landmark in the Short North neighborhood. Each item on the wall was hand-picked by bar owner Sorboro to fit the space. Mikey’s Late Night Slice is on the patio side of Oddfellows. Tour attendees will be treated to slices at half price.
