Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).

HOUSTON (AP) — Stephan Jaeger couldn’t have dreamed up a better scenario for his first PGA Tour victory. He played the final 36 holes with the best player in the world, and he won the Houston Open on Sunday to earn his first trip to the Masters.

“It feels amazing,” Jaeger said.

Scottie Scheffler couldn’t imagine a tougher way for his March winning streak to end — a clutch shot to 5 feet on the final hole, and a birdie putt he thought was good until he looked up and realized it wasn’t.

“I hit two or three really good shots into 18 to give myself a chance and I feel like I made the putt and I looked up and it was breaking off,” Scheffler said. “So a bit disappointing, but Stephan played great this week and he’s a deserving champion.”

Jaeger closed with nine straight pars, and that was just enough for a 3-under 67 to finally win in his 135th attempt on the PGA Tour.

Jaeger was preparing for a playoff after narrowly missing a 20-foot birdie putt that would have assured the victory. But then Scheffler, who gave himself three good looks down the stretch, saw his putt burn the left edge of the cup.

“I expected him to make it, and I’m not mad at him for missing it,” Jaeger said.

Scheffler was trying to become the first player in seven years to win three straight starts on the PGA Tour, and he was right there with a chance. Two shots behind, he had a 20-foot eagle putt on the par-5 16th and settled for birdie. He missed from 12 feet for birdie on the 17th, and stayed alive when Jaeger missed from 7 feet on the reachable par-4 17th.

His last chance was from 5 feet.

“It would be one thing if I pulled it or something like that,” Scheffler said. “I just misread it. I don’t know why I misread it, it’s part of the game. Maybe I could have hit it with some more speed, I felt like I hit a nice putt kind of how I wanted to, just didn’t go.”

Jaeger, a 34-year-old German who came to high school in Tennessee when he was 16, earned his first trip to the Masters with the victory. He also is in the remaining four $20 million signature events this season.

Alejandro Tosti had a chance to become the fourth PGA Tour rookie to win this early in the year. He was tied for the lead until chipping too strong on the 18th and missing the 18-foot par putt for a 68.

There was a five-way tie for the lead at the start — the largest on tour since 2009 — and eight players had at least a share of the lead at some point during the round.

Jaeger was always in the mix, taking the lead with an 8-foot birdie putt on the par-3 ninth hole at Memorial Park. That was his last birdie of the day, and no one could beat him.

“I was just tried to stay within myself,” Jaeger said. “Birdies eluded me on the back nine. But this golf course plays difficult, especially when you’re around the lead. I’m just super happy.”

Thomas Detry, David Skinns and Taylor Moore all made mistakes down the stretch.

Scheffler was one shot behind when he missed the green on the par-3 15th and failed to save par on an 8-foot putt, falling two shots behind with three to play. He got one back with his birdie on the downwind 16th, where Jaeger had to lay up and settle for par.

Scheffler and Jaeger both missed good birdie chances on the 17th, and Scheffler had one last chance on the 18th.

Jaeger finished at 12-under 268 and cracks the top 50 in the world ranking for the first time.

“I couldn’t have dreamed up a better week,” Jaeger said. “Playing Scottie last couple days, he’s been on a tear, so to kind of slay the dragon a little bit this week was amazing. He’s such a good dude, such a good player, I was just happy to play with him a couple days.”

Defending champion Tony Finau closed with two straight birdies for a 66 and joined Scheffler, Tosti, Detry and Moore in a tie for second.

This was the final week for players to move into the top 50 and earn a Masters invitation, and no one from outside the top 50 — Mackenzie Hughes and Tom Hoge had the best chances — did well enough to earn a spot.

Byeong Hun An is the only player from the top 50 added to the field for the Masters, which now includes Jaeger.

Stephan jaeger holds off scottie scheffler, wins first pga tour title at 2024 texas children's houston open, share this article.

Stephan Jaeger spoke for nearly a minute about how impressive Scottie Scheffler’s recent run of play has been.

The 34-year-old German finished his play Friday during the second round of the 2024 Texas Children’s Houston Open, and while speaking with the media, he had plenty of positive things to say about the world No. 1.

Little did he know at the time, he would spend the next two days going toe-to-toe against him. It’s exactly what he wanted.

“Honestly, it’s fun to watch, right,” Jaeger said of Scheffler’s play. “It’s unorthodox in a sense and it’s … ball-striking-wise it’s really, really, really impressive what he’s doing week in, week out. To be that on, and your bad stuff be that good, is pretty impressive. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy, he’s awesome, so I’m happy for him obviously.

“I’m going to try to beat his brains out this weekend.”

Jaeger could only sit and watch as Scheffler had a 5-foot putt to tie Jaeger on the 72nd hole Sunday. Scheffler missed, his first blemish from inside 7 feet on the greens all weekend.

Jaeger called his shot. He held off the world No. 1, carding nine straight pars on the back nine at Memorial Park Golf Course to capture his first PGA Tour title in his 135th start. Jaeger shot 12-under 268, finishing a shot ahead of Scheffler and defending champion Tony Finau, amongst others.

“It feels amazing,” Jaeger said. “I couldn’t have thought … dreamed up a better week to do it. Obviously playing Scottie last couple days, he’s been on a tear, so to kind of slay the dragon a little bit this week was amazing. He’s such a good dude, such a good player, I was just happy to play with him a couple days.”

On top of the victory, the win gives Jaeger a huge advantage to earning his spot in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. He will also take home $1,638,000 and 500 FedEx Cup points, but perhaps bigger than both of those is his invitation to compete in the Masters in two weeks.

For Scheffler, his putting performance on the 18th green this week was arguably the difference in him winning his third straight start. On Friday, Scheffler three-putted from 7 feet, where on the second putt he tried to quickly tap in from a couple of feet and the putt slipped past the hole, resulting in a double bogey.

Then on Sunday, he missed the birdie attempt that would’ve forced a playoff.

“I didn’t think it was going to move very much and I tried to hit it straight and I feel like I started right in the middle and looked like it broke off pretty hard, so just a misread,” Scheffler said. “I put up a good fight, felt like I had some weird breaks this week. That’s kind of the thing, like it’s tough to describe, but obviously I’m a bit disappointed. I hit two or three really good shots into 18 to give myself a chance and I feel like I made the putt and I looked up and it was breaking off. So a bit disappointing, but Stephan played great this week, and he’s a deserving champion.”

Added Jaeger on Scheffler’s put: “Yeah, 100 percent. I expected him to make it, and I’m not mad at him for missing it.”

Scheffler’s next start will be at Augusta National, where he donned the green jacket in 2022.

Also finishing a shot back, Finau was the best in the field around the greens this week but one of the worst on them. Outside of his round Friday where he tied the tournament scoring record, he lost nearly 7.5 strokes on the greens the other three rounds but still managed a strong finish.

“Didn’t make a crucial putt when I really needed it,” Finau said. “That’s the game we play. But I was happy to finish with really solid shots down the last couple holes and just to birdie the last couple.”

Also finishing runner-up were Alejandro Tosti, Taylor Moore and Thomas Detry. Tosti was tied for the lead on the 18th hole, but a poor tee shot resulted in a bogey.

“I’m super happy. I dream about this, having this opportunity like today,” Tosti said. “It was of course the first one and I know that I’m going to have revenge and I’m going to be in this position many times.”

With the PGA Tour victory, Jaeger now has a spot in the Masters field . The 34-year-old from Germany played collegiately at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga before turning pro in 2012.

Tiger Woods is in the field of players for the 2024 Masters , and Saturday he was at Augusta National Golf Club playing with chairman Fred Ridley and Justin Thomas, according to Sports Illustrated's Bob Harig. Last year, Woods questioned how many more Masters appearances he had left in him and withdrew during the third round . He has not publicly said he is not participating in this year's competition.

When does the Masters start?

The 2024 Masters will start on April 11 at Augusta National Golf Club. Tee times are expected to be around 8:30 a.m. ET. The tournament will play through the weekend with the final round on April 14.

Stephan Jaeger is the Scottie Scheffler slayer.

As it often does, it boiled down to the penultimate stroke of the Texas Children’s Houston Open. With a conversion from just outside five feet, Scheffler would have forced a playoff, but the putt veered left. That left Jaeger as the champion, thus ending Scheffler’s winning streak at two.

It’s Jaeger’s first PGA TOUR victory in 135 career starts. He’s in his fifth season as a member. Despite that and some wobble upon arrival to Memorial Park Golf Course, the 34-year-old was +5000 to win pre-tournament at BetMGM. That was tied for 12th-shortest in the field of 144.

Recapping the detail of what you already knew in general, Scheffler was a heavy favorite at just +275 , but he settles as one of five runners-up. More on the rest in a moment.

Dating back to Scheffler’s victory at the WM Phoenix Open in February 2023, he’s prevailed four times on the PGA TOUR. So, while he’s most definitely the world’s top talent right now, contrary to understandable belief he doesn’t win every time he pegs it, but Jaeger is just the third to break through in a field with Scheffler in it in the interim.

Jaeger easily was the shortest of the three on BetMGM’s board. Kurt Kitayama was +20000 when he won the 2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, while then-amateur Nick Dunlap was +40000 to prevail at The American Express two months ago.

With an 8-under 62 in his second round in Houston, defending champion Tony Finau matched the course record that he already had shared with Scheffler. Finau backpedaled with a third-round 72 before recovering for a Sunday 66. He’d land among the quintet at T2. At +2200 , he was fifth-shortest to win.

Last week’s defending champion of the Valspar Championship, Taylor Moore, also shared second place in Houston. He was +5500 pre-tournament. The other two T2s will remain non-winners on the PGA TOUR for at least another week – Thomas Detry ( +6600 ) and Alejandro Tosti ( +30000 ).

In both his previous two starts, Wyndham Clark was victimized by Scheffler and placed second. At +1200 to win, Clark was second-shortest at Memorial Park and finished T31.
