The best hotel for a romantic weekend away. The castle is beautifully decorated with a medieval touch. The staff is really friendly and always there to help with anything. Our room was really nice, although a little bit cold. The food at the restaurant was good, but a little bit overpriced. The only problem that we had was that there was no service anywhere and the WiFi was not good either. All in all, our stay was unforgettable and we would definitely consider visiting again!

Fraudulent. I booked a hotel room and bought the cancellation insurance. After taking my hotel booking and my payment for the insurance they now randomly said because of COVID 19 they decided not to cover my reservation any more, will refund the money in 120 days or so (will they be in chapter 11 or 7 by then?) stay far away they seem like they are going pop. Or will face litigation perhaps if they stay solvent. Hey, we had a bad financial week so we are not going to honour our end...........

Premium refund.

Like many others I purchased insurance to cover a break I had booked through Secret Escapes. In March I was contacted by Roomer to say they had cancelled the insurance. No valid reason was given as to why but the email intimated I would receive a refund. Since then I have had no update from them, despite repeated emails. To this date no refund as been received. SE have distanced themselves and have given no assistance to resolve this matter. Appalling customer service by both and something that should be examined further, if not resolved.

Rubbish Roomer

I had to cancel (before March 2020 lockdown) an overnight trip booked through Secret Escapes,and supposedly protected by Roomerflex insurance. Their Customer Service is non existant. I have repeatedly e-mailed and phoned. Still waiting after 11 months for the refund! Roomer replied they had sent me an e-mail several days ago. They hadn't. No surprise there as they have promised several times to get back to me and never do. On 5 March 2021 it will be 12 months since I cancelled and still waiting for my legitimate refund. Rather longer than the 14 days promised when I took out the insurance. Still trying to get my 80% refund (April 2021). Every time I e-mail I receive an automated reply saying I will be contacted in a few days. Never happens! As I said a non existent customer service. Disgusting

No reply on customer service requests or a way to contact the company directly

I tried using the service once in 2017 when my room didn't actually sell. Since then I have sent 5 requests to delete my account (under the EU right to be forgotten) but I haven't received a reply to any of them... I tried to reset my password as it's not a very strong one but the reset password errors. Overall, I wouldn't trust my personal details to a company that can't manage passwords or reply to any customer service requests.

100% scam - no response ever! Did book a room in Las Vegas. They took my money, never received confirmation, never answered to my questions, never got my money back! Update: They are now accusing me that I did try to scam them, by trying to buy my own listing - what could be the possible benefit from that? Just WOW! Please everyone, I did see the bad reviews and thought that it’s maybe I will get lucky, but apparently they have 1 star for a reasons!

I was sceptical after booking a really…

I was sceptical after booking a really cheap deal via roomer but it worked. The hotel had the booking and the customer service from Roomer was excellent. One suggestion I have for the website is make it clearer how you make contact for help. It was just a blue circle that came up which was the live chat, I would suggest in the menu a "contact us" heading as this always put me off booking something if I can't find how to contact the company.

Be very careful if you take ‘roomerflex’ cancellation option. This company is based in the USA and not regulated by U.K. trading standards. It’s virtually impossible to get your money back from them. Burned for £300 in 2020. Avoid! Contract is worthless, a very shoddy, dishonest company of grifters.

I sold my reservation! amazing service

I sold my hotel reservation through roomer after I tried selling it on social media with no success. the process was easy and fast and I got my money back from roomer right on time as they promised on their website. I even contacted their support team right after I uploaded my reservation and they were super nice and helpful. I sold my reservation for almost 50% off so I will not only recommend it to people who needs to sell their reservation but also to all those who want to find a really great deal. love it.

DO NOT USE SERVICES. I can personally confirm all the negative experiences previously stated. As of now, I am trying to just get a response from anyone at Roomer Flex for over 1 and 1/2 months. (Is there a possibility to file a class action law suit with other people that were scammed by this company?) Edit: I find it interesting that Roomer Flex cannot answer to any of my emails nor messages for over 6 weeks, but is in fact able to comment on this public posting in just a day.

All sounds very familiar. I to took out a cancellation policy with this firm only to be told a week later that it had been cancelled due to the overwhelming number of claims they had received. I pursum it's because of the corona virus. So why let people keep on booking these polices when they are aware they have a problem! I Booked it through secret escapes, But when I went on the Roomertravel website there is no WARNING about potential problems due to the OUTBREAK!! and the worst part is their obviously still letting people BOOK!!!

Roomer are total crooks

I booked a stay with Secret Escapes and bought the cancellation insurance which was supplied through Roomer. Roomer wrote to me to say they were cancelling the insurance policy due to high demand due to Covid-19 and I could claim for a refund within 120 days. This was completely misleading as the reclaim window actually expired within 30 days although this was not mentioned anywhere in their email. As far as I am concerned they lied and they took my money under false pretences - total crooks.

Roomers fake protection program

Me and my fiancé booked with secret escape and added the roomer flex protection. When we cancelled we were told we couldn’t get a refund, as they had cancelled the protection, so basically we paid extra for nothing, and can’t even get the extra amount back. Absolutely disappointing company with no morals

I'm absolutely frustrated and disgusted with roomerflex's treatment of people. Voiding a cancelation is a nasty way for people to loose out on their purchase. I've gotten two automatic replies telling me 'they'll check my request' which was the end of March. What a shocker I haven't heard anything else since then. Secret Escapes offered no help either. And trying to go through my insurance and bank is just like running in a circle. Is it too much to ask for some human decency and reply properly to a request? None of us have done anything wrong yet we're being punished.

Horrible experience

Horrible experience, I sold a room end of Jan and I still do not have payment it’s been a month since the room was used. I have chased for payment with a reply asking for my PayPal account then silence, weeks again no replies to emails and no payment made. Customer support is pathetic and I’m fuming I’ve not been paid my money yet when you’re selling your room they’re in constant contact for those details continuously. Non-existent customer service

Non-existent customer service. I booked a room advertised as free cancellation. When I needed to cancel I called the hotel first and they advised I had to go through the booking agent . Roomer has not responded after 4 emails & 2 phone messages.

I took a chance making a booking with Roomer for a 5 star hotel in New Delhi, India for a stay there in early Jan. I received a terrific price which is why I thought it was a big risk. However, everything went smoothly and I had a positive experience.

As you mentioned, Roomer is a marketplace where you can sell your non refundable hotel room to someone else who is in need of your room.

Not only are we helping the person that is stuck with a non refundable room, to recover some of their loss, we are also helping the person buying the room to buy it for a bargain price :)

That is what we call positive shared economy.

Due to this type of model, we have a two-step confirmation that we provide our buyers upon making a booking. Confirmation email number one states that we are in the process of transferring ownership from the seller so that the booking will be under the buyer’s name. Once we have successfully transferred ownership from the seller to the buyer, a second final confirmation email is provided to the buyer that their booking was successful, and they are ready to check-in.

In some cases, we are unable to transfer the ownership from the seller to the buyer thus this happens rarely. If it does happen, we always provide alternative hotels to the buyer to choose from or they can choose to be fully refunded.

In addition, if we have provided the buyer with the final confirmation and in the unlikely event, they experience any issues upon check-in, we guarantee that they will have a booking at the same property or an upgraded hotel nearby. That is a promise.

I booked a room in London last year. Got a really great deal in the theatre district. 3 nights for £270. It was a third of the price and no issues. I was impressed with the service. It was a great deal and at least the person selling their room got some funds back.

Its a shame that your colleagues don't take the same approach. I have experienced the best and worst with Roomer. On previous trips, it has worked out or where it doesn't alternative solutions were offered. My most recent experience on New Years Day means I won't use you again and will encourage others not to because a room at a five star hotel that was "sold" to me turned out not to exist after we had made the booking. Fake room, faux customer service and hours and energy wasted.

If you are going to advertise rooms, you have to be able to deliver on your promises or customers will recognise that you are simply con-artists

DO NOT USE ROOMER!! This travel website totally screwed me. I prepaid for my room with Roomer and when I arrived at the hotel they had no reservation for me. I called customer service 10 times and nothing but an answering machine. I had to pay top rack rate for my room at the hotel, double what I had thought I would be paying.

Complete shambles from start to finish

Complete shambles from start to finish! I tried to make a booking for a hotel over 6 times and each time after my payment was approved got an error message about some problem at Roomer’s end! I emailed customer service and got a mail back from John the customer service manager apologising and explaining that they would sort my booking out manually if I still wanted to proceed. I confirmed I did……that is where the customer service ends!!! I never heard anything back despite me sending multiple follow up email to John and the customer service team!! They didn’t even have the good manner to reply at all!!! None existent customer service and a platform that doesn’t work! A complete waste of time.

Only real issue was hotel not being…

Only real issue was hotel not being able to connect original booking with my details - it took a supervisor to sort out, as could only see my name and not email address. Also, it would be great if Roomer could add a chat now function. phone number is US and only comes through on confirmation email - not intial processing email. Other than that - great idea for selling non-refundable rooms!

Unethical company

We've got two trips covered by these crooks, we tried to cancel one trip a week ago, nothing to do with covid 19 and now we get told we're getting our premium back in120 days and we can whistle for the rest! Surely this isn't legal, Sure they can refuse to insure someone if they choose but not months after they've accepted the policy and premium, shouldn't be allowed to trade in this country again! People can get hotel rooms at cheap prices from those people who have to cancel their trip. Roomer Stole From Me and Never Booked the Stay

I booked a stay with Roomer, and on the final page, it had auto filled the booking to today’s date and auto filled some random email address that doesn’t belong to me. I cant receive an email confirmation now obviously, and when I called the hotel to see if they could help on their end, they said there is no reservation under my name. I tried to confirm my phone number, hoping to receive confirmation there, but I’ve hit “resend code” 5 times now, and haven’t gotten anything. I’m so frustrated and freaked out. Edit, March 27: Roomer responded and then promptly ghosted. They are not interested in resolving the issue.

I travel A LOT, and a self proclaimed master of travel booking. Atlanta Superbowl was the first time I've heard of Roomer, so I was initially nervous about booking for such a major event. But when I found the room in a completely sold out location, I took a chance. the staff was very nice and sent me emails at each step of the process. I arrived at the Buckhead location I selected and everything was waiting and ready for me. I'll definitely use them again. It's always good to have competition outside of the typical Hotwire and AirBNB options. Thanks Roomer.

Roomer voided our cancellation…

Roomer voided our cancellation insurance contract in violation of their own terms and conditions when it appeared they may not be able to sell the room on. To add insult to injury they say it will take up to 1/3rd of a year to get our insurance fee refunded by them. As they are also an American company you can only sue them there which makes the cost of pursuing a civil claim prohibitive. Avoid.

I used Roomerflex with Otel.com when booking a large family holiday (6 rooms). I had to cancel 2 of the rooms and although there was some confusion in the process (where 2 bookings rather than 2 rooms got cancelled, i.e 5 rooms) this was quickly resolved. ++ Was the fast customer service responses by email. The cancellation cover was good value for otherwise a non-refundable room. -ve Was the slowness in receiving the refund. I did have to chase it up.

Reoccurring Theme

It seems like this is a reoccurring theme here but my wife booked a trip through Secret Escapes and took out the Roomer insurance. We cancelled it before Covid and lockdown happened in March and still no luck in getting a refund. We have been sent from pillar to post by Secret Escapes and Roomer and are still no further forward. Now Secret Escapes are saying there is nothing more they can do and Roomer are not returning calls, emails, tweets etc etc. Has anyone actually received a refund from them or anyone taken the matter further?

I had a great experience with Roomer. All our hotels for a trip for two months were booked through them, and all quickly. One time there was a misunderstanding with our order but we contacted customer service and within a few moments the problem was resolved. Took out roomer cancellation insurance…

Took out roomer cancellation insurance via secret escapes for a hotel reservation. Cancelled expecting instant 80% refund. Had to chase up 5 times with emails and calls over 5 weeks before finally receiving where the PayPal refund was also subject to a fee!! Would have given 1 star but to be fair at least you can get hold of someone at roomer / secret escapes all be it pointless.
