Ennätyksiä murskannut modernin pop-musiikin supertähti The Weeknd on tänään julkistanut After Hours Til Dawn -stadionkiertueensa vuoden 2023 Euroopan ja Latinalaisen-Amerikan keikkapäivät. Suomea lähin keikka osuu Tallinnan laululavalle lauantaina 12. elokuuta. Tallinnan konsertin lipunmyynti käynnistyy perjantaina 2. joulukuuta Ticketmasterissa . Tarjolle tulee myös Tallinkin räätälöimiä matkapaketteja, joiden myynti käynnistyy myöhemmin.

Moninkertaista platinaa saavuttanut The Weeknd on tänään julkistanut uusia konsertteja After Hours Til Dawn -kiertueelleen, joka juhlistaa palkitun taitelijan vuoden 2020 menestyksekästä After Hours -albumia sekä kriitikoiden ylistämää Dawn FM -albumia, joka ilmestyi tämän vuoden alussa. After Hours -levyltä löytyvä jättihitti Blinding Lights nimettiin juuri Billboardin uudeksi kaikkien aikojen No 1. Billboard Hot 100 -kappaleeksi.

Suomea lähin keikkapaikka on Tallinnan laululavalla lauantaina 12.elokuuta. Kaytranada ja Mike Dean nähdään The Weekndin kaikkien Euroopan-keikkojen lämmittelijöinä.

Yhdistyneiden Kansakuntien Maailman elintarvikeohjelman hyvän tahdon lähettiläs Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye tekee tulevalla kiertueella jälleen yhteistyötä YK:n Maailman elintarvikeohjelman kanssa. Jokaisesta kiertueen lipusta lahjoitetaan osuus XO Humanitarian Fund -humanitaariseen rahastoon, jonka varoja käytetään maailmanlaajuisen nälkäkriisin hoitoon. Rahasto keräsi rahaa jo kiertueen Pohjois-Amerikan osuuden aikana lipunmyynnillä, eksklusiivisen kiertuepaidan tuotoilla. Pottia kasvatti The Weekndin yrityskumppaneiden, kiertuepaikkojen, World Food Program USA:n hallituksen lahjoitukset. Myös The Weeknd itse sekä kiertueen sponsorina toimivan Binance, ottivat osaa keräykseen. The Weeknd lahjoitti itse 500 000 dollaria. Binance lahjoitti rahastoon 2 miljoonaa dollaria, joka on tarkoitettu elintarvike- ja ravitsemusavun tarjoamiseen Etiopian eniten nälänhädästä kärsiville alueille

After Hours Til Dawn -kiertueen sponsorina toimiva Binance on lohkoketjuteknologiaa hyödyntävä maailman johtava kryptovaluutta-alusta, joka tuo Web 3.0 -teknologian konserttivierailijoille ympäri maailmaa. Lipunhaltijat saavat matkamuistoisia NFT-kortteja sekä pääsyn eksklusiiviseen NFT-kokoelmaan The Weekndin kiertueelle yhteistyössä HXOUSE:n kanssa. XHOUSE on luovien yrittäjien ajattelukeskus ja yhteisöhautomo. Viisi prosenttia tulevan kiertueen NFT-kokoelman myynnistä lahjoitetaan XO:n humanitaariselle rahastolle.

The Weeknd After Hours Til Dawn Tour 2022

What Songs Is The Weeknd Playing On The ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ Tour?

Derrick Rossignol

The pandemic made it so The Weeknd couldn’t tour behind 2020’s After Hours immediately following its release, but he didn’t want that to stop him from putting out another album. He ended up doing just that, dropping Dawn FM earlier this year. That didn’t put an After Hours tour to rest, though. Instead, The Weeknd is supporting both albums on his ongoing After Hours Til Dawn tour .

The trek kicked off in mid-July and so far, The Weeknd has six shows under his belt (as of August 4). At those concerts, what songs has he been performing most?

The answer right now is all of them, according to data from Setlist.fm , the most comprehensive resource for concert setlists available online; For each show, he’s had the exact same 29-song setlist, which makes sense given how early into the tour he is.

Setlist.fm also has an “average setlist” for the After Hours Til Dawn tour , which is based on setlists from previous shows, so it’s an indication of how an upcoming The Weeknd show might be structured. This one was probably pretty easy to figure out.

As for album-by-album representation on the setlist, Dawn FM has the most songs included, followed closely by After Hours . Then, it’s Starboy , Beauty Behind The Madness , House Of Balloons , My Dear Melancholy , and Kiss Land . If all the “covers” (songs The Weeknd performs on but isn’t the primary artist of on the album version) were considered an album, they’d go after Starboy in the rankings and before Beauty .

The Weeknd Announces 2022 North American Tour

By Nina Corcoran

The Weeknd

The Weeknd has announced a 2022 tour in support of his most recent albums, Dawn FM and 2020’s After Hours . The first leg of the trek will see him perform concerts in stadia across the United States and Canada. The tour will feature special guest Doja Cat . According to a press release, there will be more concerts in Mexico, South America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East announced soon. Find the dates for the first leg below.

The Weeknd has also partnered with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to launch the XO Humanitarian Fund, Powered by World Food Programme. The fund works toward ending the global hunger crisis. The Weeknd has donated $500,000 to the fund, according to a press release, and plans to contribute an additional $1 from each tour ticket sold. “The goal with this fund is to provide immediate life-saving support to people who are on the brink of starvation,” the Weeknd said in a statement. “I’m so thankful to have WFP as a partner and to further expand our reach to those who need it most.”

Last year, the Weeknd postponed his tour for the third time due to the pandemic . When explaining his reasons for doing so, the Weeknd promised the new version of the tour would be “something bigger and special for you which requires stadiums.”

After announcing the end of his After Hours era with “ Take My Breath ” last summer, the Weeknd revealed Dawn FM just a few days before its arrival last month. Swedish House Mafia remixed “ Sacrifice ” for an “Alternate World” edition of the project, which also included the joint track “ Moth to a Flame ” and Agents of Time’s remix of “Take My Breath.”

The Weeknd has been a busy collaborator in recent months, as well, appearing on new tracks with FKA twigs , Post Malone , and Rosalía , plus a posthumous release from Aaliyah . He unveiled his new immersive television special, The Weeknd x The Dawn FM Experience , through Prime Video in February

The Weeknd, omalta nimeltään Abel Tesfaye, breikkasi musiikkimaailmaan vuoden 2011 mixtapella House of Balloons. Hän jatkoi työskentelyä Draken, Wiz Khalifan ja muiden kanssa rakentaessaan omaa taiteilijauraansa. Vuonna 2015 Weeknd nautti valtavasta menestyksestä Grammyn voittaneen Beauty Behind the Madness -albumin myötä, joka sisälsi mm. kehutun kappaleen "Can't Feel My Face". Kolmas albumi, Starboy (2016), voitti myös Grammyn ja albumilla kuultiin myös muita artisteja kuten Daft Punkia. Neljäs ja viimeisin albumi "After Hours" sisälsi hittisinglet "Blinding Lights", "Heartless", "In Your Eyes" ja "Save Your Tears". Albumi hyppäsi 20 maassa listojen kärkeen. The Weekndista on tullut muutamassa vuodessa yksi suosituimmista R&B -artisteista ja suosio poiki Tesfayelle mm. halutun Super Bowl Halftime -esiintymisen vuonna 2021.

How to spend a perfect weekend in Moscow

Feb 11, 2020 • 5 min read

weeknd tour liput

Moscow enjoyed the status of capital for most of Russia’s history, except for a relatively brief period (about two hundred years), when the Tsar and the government relocated to St Petersburg . But the Bolsheviks moved the capital back to Moscow in 1918, and today it’s an extremely diverse city. It can easily take a couple of weeks to see all of its sights, but if you've only got a weekend to explore, here's how to have two perfect days in Moscow.

Exterior of St Basil's Cathedral at Red Square on a sunny autumn morning.

Start your weekend in Moscow by acquainting yourself with top-notch Russian cuisine at Grand Cafe Dr Zhivago . Located on the first floor of the historical hotel National and overlooking the Kremlin, it’s definitely one of the best breakfast spots in the city. Try millet porridge with crawfish, pearl barley porridge with oxtail or traditional cottage cheese with raisins and candied fruit.

Set aside at least half a day for Russian capital’s major attractions: the Red Square and the Kremlin . To reach the Kremlin, cross the street from Dr Zhivago and walk through the Alexander Garden to the main entrance at the Kutafya Tower . Check out all the cathedrals, including Archangel cathedral with all the tsars’ tombs and Uspensky cathedral with medieval icons. Pause to look at the famous Tsar Bell and climb Ivan the Great Bell Tower to enjoy some great views.

Zaryadye - a landscape and architectural park. Many people stroll over concrete walkways surrounding a rounded building in parkland.

Exit and walk to the Red Square through the Alexander Garden, where, if lucky, you can see the change of guard. If you’re feeling hungry, stop by the food court at Okhotny Ryad shopping complex to pick up a snack.

The Red square is dominated by four buildings of equal historical importance: the Kremlin's most famous Spasskaya (Saviour) Tower , with a clock and fourteen bells that chime national anthem four times a day (6am, noon, 6pm, midnight), St Basil's Cathedral , Moscow's best-known symbol with its multi-colored domes, Lenin’s Mausoleum , the resting place of the leader of the 1917 October revolution, and GUM , Moscow's oldest department store, topped with a glass roof, designed by one of Russia's most celebrated architects, Vladimir Shukhov.

A guide to shopping in Moscow

Right behind the St Basil’s it is the relatively new Zaryadye Park , designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, famous for its work on the High Line in New York City. Zaryadye showcases flora from all the climate zones of Russia, which is the largest country in the world. The floating bridge at the edge of the park is one of the biggest selfie magnets in Moscow, providing spectacular views of the river and the city skyline as the background.

Another Zaryadye attraction is a glass pavilion that hosts restaurant Voskhod  (Sunrise) – a perfect spot for your lunch or early dinner. Voskhod focuses on dishes from all fifteen former Soviet Union republics and its inside looks like a Soviet-made spaceship with great views of the Moscow river. Try Azeri home-made pasta or trout from Lake Sevan in Armenia.

After all that walking and exploring you need some quality downtime and what better way to spend it than relaxing for a couple of hours at the famous Sanduny  traditional Russian hot bath. Make sure to get a massage with birch sticks!

You might still have time to go to Winzavod Center – a creative cluster with galleries housed at a former wine factory. Galleries like XL , pop/off/art and Ovcharenko always have something on, most likely a cutting-edge Russian contemporary art exhibition. Finish the evening hanging out at one of the best Moscow bars – try socialites’ paradise Noor Electro , co-joined with one of Moscow’s avant-garde theatres or Powerhouse Moscow , located in a 19th-century mansion, which is famous for live indie and jazz band performances. Both serve great food, too.

Young people sit on a bench looking at a large painting on the wall. It's by Russian artist Alexander Ivanov, called 'The appearance of Christ to the People' and is displayed in the Tretyakov gallery

Power up for a busy day ahead at one of Moscow’s trendiest coffee/breakfast spots,   Nude . Located in the upscale, well-heeled neighborhood of Patriarch’s Ponds, Nude offers a wide range of breakfast dishes, including scrambled eggs, toast, porridge and banana bread. Book ahead as it might be busy on a weekend morning.

After checking out the Patriarch's Ponds, which features prominently in Mikhail Bulgakov’s perennial novel The Master and Margarita , devote the rest of the morning and early afternoon to exploring Moscow’s best museums. Depending on your tastes, pick one of the following: Tretyakov Gallery for traditional Russian art, from medieval icons to the early 20th century;  New Tretyakov for 20th century and contemporary art as well as great temporary exhibitions;  Pushkin Museum for one of the greatest collections of Impressionist and post-Impressionist art in the world; and the Garage Museum for some eye-opening modern-art exhibitions.

A blurred train travelling at speed through a station with a tiled wall and a station guide.

Whichever museum or gallery you choose, be sure to go to LavkaLavka for lunch, certainly one of the best places to try new Russian cuisine, which is a contemporary reading of centuries-old recipes. It’s one of the few places to try polugar , which is, allegedly, what Russians called vodka in the 19th century.

When you talk about Russian culture, literary giants usually pop into mind: the likes of Leo Tolstoy, Fyodor Dostoevsky and Anton Chekhov. There are plenty of literary museums in Moscow, but if you had to pick one, visit Tolstoy Estate Museum , located just opposite the headquarters of Yandex, the Russian equivalent of Google. Every little detail has been restored just the way it looked when Tolstoy lived here in the 1880s–90s.

Leave some time for exploring the Moscow Metro : every station is an architectural masterpiece in its own right. Our favorites include Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya and Kievskaya. Later, unwind at one of dozens of Moscow’s craft beer places . Try  Jawsspot , named after one of the leading breweries in Russia, Jaws from the Urals region, which also serves decent pizza and salads.

Vampire Weekend Sinks Teeth Into a Daytime Show — or Is It Nighttime? — Celebrating Eclipse in Austin: Concert Review

vampire weekend eclipse show concert review austin ezra moody amphitheater Ezra Koenig

Certainly Vampire Weekend’s new album, “Only God Was Above Us,” doesn’t provide a good reason for any current backlashes. Right about the time in a career that any band worth its salt should be facing accusations of being washed up, Vampire Weekend isn’t getting older, it’s getting better, and “Only God…” is one of the group’s best. So for those of us torn between watching the sun get blotted out and getting blotto keeping our attention on a particularly good rock show, this exercise in multi-tasking was a real contest of self-will.

For all the hoopla over this being an eclipse show, most of the audience was content to just keep their unshielded eyes on Koenig and company, content to wait until it actually got dark to pay too much attention to the cosmos’ shenanigans. These were mostly Vampire Weekend chasers, with eclipse-chasing taking a back seat. As totality approached, though, Koenig announced that the band would be taking a short intermission to let everyone focus on the impending darkness. I’d assumed maybe the band would actually pick its spaciest song and jam all the way through the 3-4 minutes of Texas totality. Or break out “Gen-X Cops,” the new song that begins with the line: “Blacken the sky and sharpen the axe!” Or cover Pink Floyd or Bonnie Tyler. (“Total Eclipse of the Heart” was at least used as the band’s walk-up music.)

Actually, Vampire Weekend wasn’t in danger of being overshadowed, as it were. Inside the Moody Amphitheatre in downtown Austin, totality was a little underwhelming, as the cloud cover grew thicker by the minute, until the shrinking sun became completely obscured about 10 minutes before the darkness really kicked in. Except for one blink-and-you-missed-it  reapparance, in which a short roar went up as the flaming corona became visible for all of two seconds. “Did you catch that one moment?” Koenig asked, after the band returned to the stage. “Talk about a buzzer-beater!”

This is supposed to be a music review, not an eclipse review, but we feel comfortable going on record as giving this particular experience of the phenomenon a Pitchfork rating of 5.2.

We can go considerably higher for the band’s performance itself, and recommend seeing it in a more standard setting on the road this summer and fall, when their shows presumably won’t be accompanied by blatant signs of God’s judgment on America. (Unless all the merch selling out prematurely counts also as a sign of divine distress. This was the first time I’d ever seen a merch table being dismantled completely around the time the music was getting underway, thanks to all of the band’s bespoke shirts and hats having been manufactured in amounts guaranteed not to meet demand.)

It wasn’t quite Springsteen-ian in its epic qualities, but the band’s Austin show did stretch to two hours and 20 minutes (counting that 10-minute break for everyone to ponder twilight). Its highlights included six songs being debuted from “Only God Was Above Us,” which was even a couple less than the set could have withstood, but not a bad ratio of terrific new songs nonetheless. These included two newbies right at the top of the show, “Ice Cream Piano” and “Classical,” and then, over the course of nature playing with its faulty light switch, “Connect,” “Gen-X Cops,” “Capricorn” and “Hope,” all good candidates to stay in the set even by the time Vampire Weekend has moved on to album six.

The sound of Vampire Weekend on record is pretty different from the live experience, now, just as it was with the last album, 2019’s “Father of the Bride,” with Koenig and co-producer Ariel Rechtshaid treating the music almost as a sonically unpredictable duo project in the studio. (Bassist Chris Baio and drummer Chris Tomson at least show up on about half the tracks, more than they did on “Father.”) Sometimes, when the new material is being played live, there’s more of a rush to the music, with a full seven-piece band taking it on; other times, you miss the eclectic touches from the records that can’t or shouldn’t be exactly recreated live.

Some of the group’s seminal tracks felt quaint now in the context of the more expansive newer stuff, like “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa,” from a period when being audacious meant playing in a style meant to feel like it was taking place under African skies. But some of the chestnuts really blossomed to life with this version of the band. “Sunflower,” in particular, was a gas, alternating quick sax and fiddle riffs, then combining those two instruments in riffage alongside the guitar, like the art-rock equivalent of a Southern rock band doing a three-guitar attack.

The rarity most delighting some hardcore fans was “Jonathan Low,” “one of our least-known songs,” probably brought out for this occasion specifically because of its origin point: it was written and recorded for the “Twilight: Eclipse” movie. “We should play that one more often,” Koenig conceded, sounding surprised after sticking the landing. “That’s a good song… Shout-out to Robert Pattinson and the whole gang,” he joked. (Earlier he made it clear they never saw the film.)

The first-half highlight was “Flower Moon,” also clearly given a special place in the spotlight because of its appropriate title, written into the setlist to be the song that would precede the moony intermission no matter what time the show got underway. It was funky and fusion-y, with solos for bass, sax and what sounded like a vintage Synclavier. If they had just kept that eight-minute jam going all the way into and through the peak darkness, it would have been a real moment. It still was, even with the sun still out.

In the second half, guests included Thomas Mars of Phoenix, joining Koenig for a first-time performance of their prior studio collaboration “Tonight,” and Dave 1 from Chromeo then guesting for “Needy Girl” — followed by those two French speakers leading the audience in a French version of “Happy Birthday to You,” in honor of this coincidentally being Koenig’s 40 th birthday.

The band didn’t bring in any special production design to enhance the experience, beyond a backdrop portraying an eclipse in all its phases, from beginning to end. But the two drummers did arrive equipped with complementary bass drum heads, each depicting Méliès-like faces of the sun and the moon. “See our custom drumheads?” Koenig asked. “I think (the artist) got the expressions just right. The sun looks pissed, but he’s about to laugh.”

The audience might have known how the sun felt… maybe a little pissy about missing out on all that bespoke merch, but all is forgiven when performances as awe-inspiring as “Sunflower” and “Flower Moon” are involved. Being in the path of totality, and in the path of total virtuosity: they’re both rare enough things.

When is the festival?

How much does it cost?

The VIP pass grants access to the High Flyer Club from Texas Mutual, which includes 9 a.m. early access to Zilker park, banquet seating in a private tent, catered refreshments throughout the day, face painting, bounce houses and more.

What about parking and transportation?

Both VIP and general admission guests can purchase a parking pass for $25 per vehicle. VIPs can purchase a pass directly with their VIP ticket, while general guests can purchase a parking pass here .

Parking will be at "the open field south of Barton Springs Road at Stratford Drive," according to the Kite Fest. The festival also noted that Barton Springs Road will close at 7 a.m., and only parking pass holders are allowed through.
