Guitar icon Uli Jon Roth returns with his Interstellar Sky Guita r tour across North America this spring. The guitarist has announced a three-hour-“evening with” extravaganza consisting of Roth’s compositions and classics from Electric Sun and Scorpions albums. Tickets are available at this location .

This isn’t just an ordinary concert—it’s an invitation to join the INTERSTELLAR SKY GUITAR tour, a captivating 3-hour show of music and excitement! The integrated multi-media show unfolds in two parts: Part I: An intimate evening with Uli Jon Roth, featuring a selection of both new and older pieces composed by Uli, including excerpts from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons & Uli’s Metamorphosis Concerto. It will also include a 15 minute ‘TED Talk’ by Uli, introducing his new book “In Search of the Alpha Law”. Part II: Uli navigates through his musical history, performing hits from the early Scorpions & Electric Sun years, with the support of his band. This will be a truly exciting experience and we hope that you can make it!

Music enthusiasts, get ready for a night of true musical passion and inspiration as legendary guitarist Uli Jon Roth takes us on a 360-degree journey into his unique world of artistic imagination. Uli Jon Roth is thrilled to announce his exclusive 2024 world tour ‘ Interstellar Sky Guitar ‘.

The 3-hour-plus integrated multi-media show will be split into two parts with an intermission. The first half of the concert will feature a wide gamut of new and old pieces written by Uli Jon Roth , including excerpts from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, and Uli’s Metamorphosis Concerto. It will also include a brief TED Talk by Uli introducing his new book ‘ In Search of the Alpha Law ‘.

The second part of the concert will accompany the worldwide vinyl release of all three ‘ Electric Sun ‘ albums, alongside all 5 Uli-era Scorpions albums! This will see Uli perform a breathtaking set with his full band, showcasing songs from each ‘ Electric Sun ‘ album, as well as tracks from his time with the Scorpions . It’s set to be an unforgettable experience for all Uli and ‘ Electric Sun ‘ enthusiasts!

Uli Jon Roth ’s signature tool of expression is the legendary Sky Guitar which he invented. The name of the tour, ‘ Interstellar Sky Guitar ‘ is  reflecting the fact that we are celebrating 40 years since the first one of these ground-breaking instruments was built. The tonal range of Sky Guitars far exceeds that of traditional guitars, effectively turning the electric guitar into a six-octave instrument as opposed to the three-and-a-half octave ones, which are industry standard. The ingenious, striking, body-shape of Sky Guitars which makes the extra frets possible, enables Uli to equal the registers of the violin and the cello. The main stars of the evening are the state-of-the-art “Excalibur” 7-string Sky Guitar, alongside Uli’s famous ‘ Mighty Wing ‘.

Guitarist Uli Jon Roth Announces Spring 2024 North American Tour

The guitar legend will be performing songs from his time in Scorpions and Electric Sun

Uli Jon Roth, the legendary guitarist and onetime Scorpions axeman, has announced a Spring 2024 North American solo tour.

The outing kicks off April 2nd in Mesa, Arizona, and runs through May 18th in Houston, with tickets to select shows available via Ticketmaster . Fans can also look for deals or get tickets to additional dates via StubHub , where your purchase is 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s Fan Protect program.

The trek will be a career-spanning celebration for Roth, who is best known for his work in Scorpions in the ’70s and his subsequent project Electric Sun. Music from both bands will played across a three-hour, two-part concert experience.

The first half of the show will be centric to Roth’s solo work “new and old,” as well as excerpts from Uli’s Metamorphosis of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons Concerto . This portion of the show also features a brief “TED Talk” by Uli, introducing his new book In Search of the Alpha Law .

After an intermission, Roth and his band will then perform material from the five ’70s-era Scorpions albums he played on — the stuff of legend for fans of early/proto heavy metal — and songs from the Electric Sun catalog. Roth’s self-invented “Sky Guitar” will be the star of the show, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the axe’s creation. The unique instrument allows for extra frets, enabling Roth to match the registers of the violin and cello.

In a recent interview with Thomas S. Orwat, Jr. of Rock Interview Series , Roth spoke about his North American tour, which kicked off on April 2 in Mesa, Arizona. He said: "Well, touring North America has been a thing that I've been doing for many years on a regular basis, because I love doing that and then we've got a lot of audience over there in that neck of the woods. But we haven't been since before COVID. And so we had a 70-date tour booked for North America, including Canada, when COVID hit. And so I did a few shows in Europe. It was also called 'Interstellar Sky Guitar' . It was a solo tour, just with a big screen, an orchestra behind me, and I wrote a lot of music for it, new music. And then, yeah, thanks to COVID, there was no tour. So, forward to 2024, I thought it would be good to pick up that thread. And a lot of people still have tickets from back then, and they're, of course, fully valid, but I thought it might be a nice idea to not only bring the solo show, because after so many years bring the band as well. So we're actually doing a dual kind of show — two shows in one evening. I'm kicking off with one and a half hours of solo, which is called 'An Evening with Uli John Roth', which includes a little TED talk about my new book, 'In Search Of The Alpha Law' , which I'm gonna be presenting. And then there's a break and then we're playing a full-on rock show consisting of my earlier material — SCORPIONS , ELECTRIC SUN and then also a little bit of Jimi Hendrix ."

Asked when "In Search Of The Alpha Law" will finally be released, Uli said: "The book will be released pretty much during the tour. So we're not gonna have it on the tour. We're a little late. Unfortunately, it was quite complicated to get everything under wraps, but we're gonna have it. So I think what they're gonna do, at the merch, they're gonna sell vouchers, so 10- or 20-dollar vouchers for the book, and then people will be sent the book. Which is a good idea anyways, because you don't want to carry that book around you in the evening… It's quite a tome. It's big and heavy — four kilos. It's got 600 pages with about a thousand pictures and illustrations. I did all the design myself, because I wanted it to also be artistic, and I wanted the text to be one with all the imagery.

"The way this came about was thanks to COVID, actually," he explained. "I'm one of the few people who, actually, I guess, can be thankful to COVID because it was a horrible thing for most people. I was able to spend two years in lockdown writing this book. And this book has quite a history, because I started many years ago writing it. I wrote several versions. I was never quite happy because I wasn't quite sure how to present the book.

"The subject matter is not an easy subject matter. It's quite philosophical. It's about my view of life, and music has a lot to do with it. And I wanted to have a book that also non-musicians can enjoy. And that's not so easy when you're sometimes talking about technical stuff like octaves and fourths, et cetera. How do you explain that to somebody who doesn't know what an octave is?

"So, to cut a long story short, when COVID came and I was at home with all this time, the book just started to pour out and it kind of wrote itself," Roth added. "And the subject matter really goes back 40 years, because I've been always fascinated by these ideas that are described in the book… It's difficult to explain the book in a few words. That's why it's a book and that's why it's big. It's got a lot of facets. And I scripted it a little bit like a movie, so there are many different facets and various storylines, which sometimes drift side by side and then they jell together."

Asked what the most challenging part of writing the book was, Uli said: "The bigness wasn't really the challenge. I could have written a much bigger book. My original intention, back many years when I first started to do 'Sky Academy' in Los Angeles, was to write seven books, because it was a complete kind of philosophical system in itself, kind of. But I went away from that and I thought I'd make it more user friendly. I didn't want a dry something. I wanted something that can touch people that's inspirational rather than academic. And once I figured that out, it kind of started writing itself. And there were really no obstacles. Well, I did have to learn about book design; that's something that I didn't know before, how to do that. I wouldn't say I mastered that craft, but I got by in order to do what I wanted to do. And now I'm very, very happy with it. And it's a good foundation for my 'Sky Academy' also. Whereas before, when we did these 'Sky Academy' seminars, I never really had anything in writing, and now I do. This ties in very much with my musical output, my musical philosophy. Having said that, this book comes with a couple of bonus CDs because I thought it might be nice to bundle it with actual music, not just the visuals. And of all my output, the stuff that I figured was best for this was my 'Metamorphosis' album, which is Vivaldi 's Four Seasons with electric guitar and orchestra, and a concerto of my own, 'Metamorphosis Concerto' . So, that's gonna be in here as a newly remastered release. And also half an hour's piano music, which I wrote in the early '90s called 'Aquila Suite' , which isn't so well known, but that will also go very well with this book. And they're just other creative angles."

In recent years, Roth has revisited the early music of his period with the SCORPIONS , which resulted in the "Scorpions Revisited" double CD and "Tokyo Tapes Revisited" DVD/Blu-ray releases.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest guitar players ever, Uli pioneered a unique style of guitar playing which — for the first time — combined complete mastery of the instrument with an intensely melodic and emotional appeal.

From his earliest days onwards, Uli has always been a bold and uncompromising musical innovator of the first order. Being the first guitar player in rock to incorporate complex melodic arpeggio sequences, Uli Jon Roth — in the eyes of many of his peers — practically reinvented modern guitar technique almost singlehandedly during his SCORPIONS tenure, but even more so during his ELECTRIC SUN days.

Ex-Scorpions guitarist in SoCo April 7

69-year-old Uli Jon Roth may have only played guitar with Scorpions for only four years, but his songs have aged considerably well.

Longtime fans still consider his work on “Fly To The Rainbow,” “Taken By Force,” “In Trance,” and “Virgin Killer’” some of the band’s finest moments.

And while “Tokyo Tapes” — arguably the best live hard rock album ever – would signal Roth’s inevitable exit, it was songs like ‘Sails Of Charon,” “We’ll Burn The Sky,” “All Night Long,” and “Dark Lady” (to name just a few) that would make his catalog a cult favorite many decades later.

For the uninitiated, Uli formed his own Electric Sun project which would eventually issue three fantastic records: ‘Earthquake’ (1979) steeped in the tradition of the late Jimi Hendrix, ‘Fire Wind’ (1981), and ‘Beyond the Astral Skies’ (1985) dedicated to the late Martin Luther King Jr..

It wasn’t long until Roth found a new calling which found the guitarist composing four symphonies and two concertos with a smattering of live performances with / for symphony orchestras throughout greater Europe. Consequently, Uli adopted the moniker Uli Jon Roth for every release thereafter.

Dubbed the ‘Interstellar Sky Guitar’ North American 2024 tour, Uli and his six-piece band kicks off their run on April 2nd in Mesa, Arizona and follows with a a whopping seven California shows while inevitably ending on May 18th in Houston, Texas.

UJR’s three-hour multi-media show will be split into two parts with an intermission featuring new and old pieces, excerpts from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, and Uli’s Metamorphosis Concerto. He will also be speaking about his new (er) book, ‘In Search of the Alpha Law.’ The second half of the show will see Roth revisiting his own Electric Sun records, also recently released on vinyl, along with his highly influential Scorpions fare.

Said Uli about his mission statement for his upcoming tour, “We are only temporary thoughts in the Mind of the Universe. If we want to survive and evolve as a species, we need to become better human beings first and strive towards World Peace with all our hearts. We can only do this together.”

We caught up with promoter Christine Lommori aka Lommori Productions who already has a rich history promoting Uli Jon Roth’s area concerts.

Bohemian: When did you initially start promoting concerts?

Lommori: I started some 30 years ago at a small club called Hobie’s in Concord. I loved music and was a fan that eventually turned my obsession into a business.

Bohemian: How many times have you presented Uli?

Lommori: I’ve done about 16 UJR shows throughout the years.

Bohemian: What does his music mean for you?

Lommori: I am a huge Scorpions fan and also love Uli’s beautiful guitar work. He is quite a magical person and a really nice guy.

Bohemian: Will Lommori Productions be doing more concerts in Sonoma County?

Lommori: Definitely. The North Bay is special to me as I lived in Sonoma and went Sonoma High School.

Bohemian: Why the Flamingo Resort?

Lommori: I have a working relationship with Vintage Space and the new owners who did the remodel. It’s a beautiful resort and has that retro vibe I love.

Bohemian: Are these the same shows you booked originally in 2020 before Covid?

Lommori: No. These are shows are a re-booking from a few months ago when Uli had to postpone for personal reasons.

Bohemian: Will we be seeing more from Lommori Productions in 2024?

Lommori: Yes. This year will be quite busy and many more shows are in the works.

Kofi and Malcolm grew up surrounded by music from an early age. Cream’s music has become an integral part of Kofi and Malcolm’s careers. And now joined by Rob they continue to play the music of their fathers and are making it their own. It’s in the DNA..

Son of legendary drummer Ginger Baker, Kofi Baker is a name synonymous with drumming excellence. Without question, Kofi not only continues, but extends the family legacy, with outstanding skills, drive and dedication to his craft.

Kofi’s first live performance was with his father on the cult UK tv music show “The Old Grey Whistle Test” – at just six years of age he proved he had inherited more than just his father’s name. In the early 80’s, Kofi and his father played drum duets throughout Europe, amazing audiences with complex African polyrhythms. Later, Kofi toured with John Ethridge (Soft Machine) and gigged in London with Steve Waller (Manfred Mann) and Randy California (Spirit). He also toured Europe with Steve Marriot’s Humble Pie.

During the 1990’s Kofi toured with Jack Bruce in Budapest, signed with Scotty Brothers Records and recorded the album Lost City, cut Abstract Logic with Jonas Hellborg and Shawn Lane and toured extensively – including more drum duets with Ginger Baker.

In 1994, Kofi headed off to the USA and for some time lived with his father in Colorado. Footage of this can be seen in the highly regarded documentary ‘Beware of Mr Baker’

In 2015 Kofi joined The Extreme Guitar Tour with Uli Jon Roth -former Scorpions lead guitarist, with Vinny Appice (John Lennon, Rick Derringer, DIO, Black Sabbath) and Vinnie Moore (UFO).

Later that year he attended the CREAM reunion concerts at Madison Square Garden and following these historic shows, started to develop and evolve his ‘Cream Experience’ band.

After leaving Colorado for LA, Kofi continued to play extensively and also set up his own drum school which spawned many loyal fans and pupils. Anyone taking lessons or attending his clinics can testify to his easy, friendly manner and the excellent way he communicates his passion to others.

Between 2017 and 2022 he was invited to become an integral part of The Music Of Cream 50th Anniversary Tour, which began in Australia & New Zealand and has subsequently played hundreds of shows across Australasia, the U.S.A and the U.K.

MALCOLM BRUCE

Composer, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Malcolm Bruce has toured, performed, recorded and appeared on records with some of the biggest names in music including Little Richard, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, Dr John, Steve Cropper, Joe Satriani, Joe Bonamassa, Bill Ward and Ozzy Osbourne (Black Sabbath), Simon Phillips (Toto, The Who, Jeff Beck), Leslie West and Corky Laing (Mountain), Tony Butler and Mark Brzezicki (Big Country) and his father the late Jack Bruce of Cream.

Malcolm curated a tribute to his father in October 2016 alongside Pete Brown (Cream lyricist) at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire and performed with legends such as Lulu, Eddi Reader, Maggie Reilly, Paul Young, Mick Taylor (Rolling Stones), Dennis Chambers (Santana, Parliament / Funkadelic), Gary Husband (Level 42, John McLaughlin), David Sancious (Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Stanley Clarke) and Ginger Baker.

He released his album ‘Salvation’ in 2017, a collection of 10 songs recorded at Kevin McKendree’s (Delbert McClinton, Brian Setzer) The Rock House Studio in Franklin TN and mixed by Steve Orchard (Paul McCartney, Chris Cornell) and toured the UK and USA in support.

Between 2017 and 2019 Malcolm played around 100 shows in the UK, US, Australia and New Zealand with ‘The Music of Cream’, a tribute to his father’s band, alongside Kofi Baker. Some of the shows featured special guests Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath) and Robben Ford (Miles Davis, Joni Mitchell).

In 2018 and 2019 Malcolm was co-executive producer, arranger and performer for ‘Heavenly Cream’, a project headed by Cream lyricist Pete Brown and recorded at Abbey Road Studios, which featured performances by Ginger Baker, Joe Bonamassa, Bobby Rush, Paul Rodgers, Deborah Bonham, Bernie Marsden (Whitesnake), Pee-Wee Ellis (James Brown), Abass Dodoo and many more. Produced by Rob Cass. The album along with a documentary, ‘THE CREAM ACOUSTIC SESSIONS’ was released to critical acclaim by Quarto Valley Records in November 2023.

Malcolm was also the bass player for the late Pete Brown’s final record ‘THE SHADOW CLUB’ featuring Richard Bailey (Bob Marley, Jeff Beck, Steve Winwood, Incognito) on drums, Clem Clempson and Eric Clapton on guitars, slated for release in 2024.

He’s currently working on a new album, FAKE HUMANS AND REAL DOLLS, to be released in 2024.

ROB JOHNSON

Bobby Johnson is a guitarist and vocalist from south – east London UK, now residing in Liverpool.

Influenced by folk, rock, soul, and blues from 60’s and 70s as well as later 90’s and 2000’s shoe gaze and art rock, he has carved his own sound whilst retain a vintage style to his playing and music.

Bobby is a member of the harmony centered trio Motel Sundown and is currently an instrumental tutor at Liverpool University.

He has had extensive experience playing festivals and touring in the UK, USA and Europe (including support slots for Iggy Pop). As well as performing live has also worked as a session guitarist (MT Jones, Edgar Jones) and co-producer. Bobby also written and arranged material for artists (including Ginger Baker’s Airforce).

Graduating from Liverpool University with a 1st class Degree with an avid interest in open tunings he is in the process of compiling and releasing an open tuning chord book.
