The eagles announce “the long goodbye” – the band’s final tour.

"The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe; keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds. Credit and thanks go to our longtime management team, our dedicated road crew, and our exceptional backup musicians for providing skilled and steadfast support, throughout these many years. We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful. Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle. The official farewell tour is currently in the planning stages. We want to give all our fans a chance to see us on this final round.  So, scheduling information will be released as dates are set. The difficulties of booking venues for multiple nights may require us to return to certain cities, depending on demand.  But, we hope to see as many of you as we can, before we finish up. Most importantly, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.”

With love and gratitude, The Eagles

After more than 50 years of touring, and consistently selling out arenas and stadiums worldwide, the Eagles will embark on their final tour, “The Long Goodbye”.

Presale tickets and VIP packages will be available starting Wednesday, July 12 for all announced shows. The general on-sale will start Friday, July 14 at 10:00 AM local time.

The Eagles are saying a lot of farewells on their Long Goodbye Final Tour — not just to life on the road, but also to the countless friends they’ve lost along the way.

Eagles Add 6 More Dates to The Long Goodbye Tour: Here’s How to Score Tickets

Trending on billboard.

Throughout their 21-song set, the Eagles sprinkled in tributes to peers they’ve lost, including bandmates Glenn Frey and Randy Meisner. Of course, Frey died back in 2016, and his son Deacon Frey, now 31, has been filling in for his late dad (alongside Country Music Hall of Famer Vince Gill) in the band since their Classic West performance at Dodger Stadium in 2017 . Founding member Meisner — who left the band after 1976’s Hotel California album — died this past summer , so this is the band’s first tour since.

“We’re going to dedicate this to the memory of Mr. Randy Meisner,” Henley said to introduce “Take It to the Limit,” which was the band’s only single to feature the bassist on lead vocals and peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1976 and spent 23 weeks on the chart — their longest-charting hit on the tally. “Sing it with him,” Henley implored, as Gill took over on Meisner’s sky-high vocals.

Frey tributes were sprinkled throughout the night — basically any time Deacon and Gill took the lead on his signature songs — and after the mellow “Peaceful Easy Feeling” wrapped up, Glenn’s picture appeared on the big screen.

Steely Dan served as the opening act, doing a robust 12-song set and remembering some friends of their own, with lead singer Donald Fagen making sure to shout out his band co-founder Walter Becker, who died in 2017 .

The Long Goodbye Final Tour picks back up Tuesday at Acrisure Arena in Palm Springs, Calif., and wraps up March 16 at Charlotte, N.C.’s Spectrum Center.

The Eagles are ready to fly one last time, soaring for a farewell tour this fall to cap off their five decades of touring.

“The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe; keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds,” the “Hotel California” and “Desperado” hitmakers said in a Thursday statement .

“We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful. Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle.”

The Los Angeles-formed rock band — eternally associated with the Southern California country-rock sound — will launch their Long Goodbye tour in New York’s Madison Square Garden on Sept. 7, announcing 12 additional dates Thursday with the possibility of more to come. However, no California dates have yet been announced.

“The official farewell tour is currently in the planning stages. We want to give all our fans a chance to see us on this final round. So, scheduling information will be released as dates are set,” said the band, whose current lineup includes drummer and vocalist Don Henley, famed guitarist Joe Walsh, bassist Timothy B. Schmit and guitarist Vince Gill. Gill joined the band after founding member and guitarist Glenn Frey died at 67 in 2016 . (Frey’s son Deacon also played with the band for nearly five years before announcing his departure in 2022 .)

“The difficulties of booking venues for multiple nights may require us to return to certain cities, depending on demand. But, we hope to see as many of you as we can, before we finish up,” they said. “Most importantly, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.”

The six-time Grammy Award-winning group and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will be joined by contemporary act Steely Dan, whose members will be commemorating their own half-century spanning career as well.

The Eagles’ Glenn Frey spun sun-baked SoCal ballads that will endure

Few bands were better at distilling the vibe of Los Angeles in the 1970s than the Eagles, and as its singer and guitarist, Glenn Frey served as a sort of mellow ambassador of our city.

The bands have scheduled shows through mid-November in Boston, Newark, Denver, Indianapolis, Detroit, Cleveland, Atlanta, Charlotte and Raleigh, N.C., Lexington, Ky., and St. Paul, Minn. The full schedule can be found here . The Long Goodbye tour follows their recently expanded Hotel California tour , named for their landmark 1976 album that they played in its entirety during the tour, which wrapped in Baltimore in April.

Presale tickets and VIP packages for the Long Goodbye will be made available July 12 for all announced shows. General on-sale begins July 14.

The Eagles Announce 'The Long Goodbye' Final Tour: 'The Time Has Come to Close the Circle'

The band's last ever tour begins on Sept. 7 in New York City

The Eagles are soaring one final time!

On Thursday, the band announced that after more than 50 years of touring and 150 million albums sold worldwide, their upcoming “The Long Goodbye” tour will be their last.

“Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle. The official farewell tour is currently in the planning stages,” the band said in an emotional statement.

"The Long Goodbye" tour will feature Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Vince Gill and Deacon Frey — son of the late Glenn Frey , one of the founding members of the band — and begins on Sept. 7, 2023, in New York City.

The band said they hoped to see as many fans as possible on the final tour and announced 13 initial dates across America, along with support act Steely Dan .

Never miss a story — sign up for  PEOPLE's free weekly newsletter  to get the biggest news of the week delivered to your inbox every Friday.

In their announcement, the band also noted the long, and at times challenging, journey since they formed in 1972.

“The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe; keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds,” they said, adding thanks to their management team, road crew and backup musicians.

Deacon, 30, rejoins The Eagles for the final tour after it was announced last year that he was leaving the band after 4 and a half years to “forge his own path.” He initially joined the band in 2017 after his father Glenn died in 2016 at 67 years old.

During an illustrious career spanning more than five decades and six No. 1 albums, the band's 1976 album “Hotel California” and its eponymous title track remain their most well-known and well-loved music. “Every band has a peak, and that was ours,” drummer and vocalist Henley told Rolling Stone in 2016 .

Despite winning two Grammy awards, being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and receiving the Kennedy Center Honors in 2016, the band made it clear that, for them, it’s all about the fans.

“We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades," they said in their release.

“This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.”  Presale tickets and VIP packages for 'The Long Goodbye' are available from July 12 for all announced shows. General ticket sales open Friday, July 14 at 10 a.m.

Eagles pay tribute to Jimmy Buffett at final tour kickoff: 'Sailing on that cosmic ocean'

when was eagles farewell tour

NEW YORK – The Eagles have never been known for ornate live shows.

Rather, precise musicianship behind a trove of classic rock staples earns them deserved plaudits.

At the opening concert of what they’ve said is their last tour – aptly dubbed The Long Goodbye and expected to run into 2025 – the band anchored by founding member Don Henley and the long-tenured Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit served two hours of hits that were polished and exact.

But even with their businesslike approach, an undercurrent of emotion thrummed throughout Thursday’s two-hour set at a sold-out Madison Square Garden.

A vibe of finality reverberated in the signage advertising this “final tour.” The sadness in Henley’s voice was palpable when he noted the “rough six weeks” the Eagles experienced after the death of the band’s original bassist, Randy Meisner , in July And a two-song tribute to Jimmy Buffett later in the show triggered heart-wilting melancholy.

Endings are inevitable, but the Eagles are wrapping their five-decade career with a lengthy spin around the country and a generous 23-song set list that lulled for the first hour and rocked through the second.

The Boss on pause: Bruce Springsteen is postponing his tour to be treated for ulcers

The Eagles unveil 50 years of hits

The band’s hallmark harmonies rang through the opening minutes as Henley, Walsh and Schmit, joined by recent tour guests Vince Gill and Deacon Frey – son of the late Eagles legend Glenn Frey – and ace guitarist Steuart Smith lined the front of the stage for “Seven Bridges Road.”

The lead vocal roulette continued with Frey making the spirit of his dad proud on “Take it Easy,” Henley hitting stellar high notes during “One of These Nights” as he sang behind his drum kit, and Gill sweetly memorializing Meisner with “Take It To the Limit.”

The breezy SoCal adult contemporary fare that kept the Eagles bound to the charts in the early ‘70s – “Best of My Love,” “Peaceful Easy Feeling,” “Tequila Sunrise” – sounded rich with musical director Will Hollis (keyboards), Scott Crago (swapping the drum seat with Henley) and Michael Thompson (keyboards) augmenting the sound.

The Eagles Long Goodbye: See the setlist for the legendary rock band's final tour

Bassist Schmit, whom Henley reminded the crowd was a onetime member of Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band and coined the fandom term “ Parrotheads ,” sounded as limber as ever as his trademark high-tenor voice coated “I Can’t Tell You Why” with sleepy seductiveness.

But of course it was Walsh, with his nasal bray and elastic facial expressions as priceless as his searing solos, who pushed the show into more upbeat territory with the massive guitar chords of “In The City” and the delightfully off-kilter solo hit “Life’s Been Good.”

The Eagles pay tribute to ‘dear friend’ Jimmy Buffett

Those itching for air-guitar moments would soon receive their wish. But first, Henley shushed the crowd to say a few words about his “dear friend” Buffett.

“He’s now sailing on that cosmic ocean and having that cheeseburger with Glenn and Randy,” Henley said. “Jimmy made work look like play. He brought joy to everything he did, and one of his final wishes was we keep the party going.”

Schmit offered a dreamy take on the sublime “ Come Monday ” while Walsh donned a parrot hat to lead the audience through a singalong of “Fins.” The dedication was bittersweet as a glance around the venue of people making the overhead “fins” motion underscored the reality that we’ll never see Buffett lead that chorus again.

The Eagles request that fans not take video. Good luck with that

The Eagles had plenty of choruses left to entice fans, including Henley’s wistful “Boys of Summer,” a suitable follow-up to the Buffett tribute; a rollicking “Heartache Tonight” spiked with Walsh’s slide guitar; and the adrenalized “Life in the Fast Lane.”

Throughout much of the concert, beleaguered ushers attempted to accommodate the band’s request – as on previous tours – to prevent fans from taking video. The assignment was like a game of Whac-A-Mole as arena staff tried in vain to deny people their obsession with recording during concerts by waving flashlights at the offending parties. Perhaps an announcement before the show would be helpful, because video messages didn’t seem to register.

But the rules were apparently loosened by the encore, a three-song capper of Walsh’s Talk Box-laden “Rocky Mountain Way,” Henley taking the center stage spotlight for a contemplative “Desperado” and, of course, singsong guitar licks being traded between Walsh and Smith in “Hotel California.”

Such a lovely place to say farewell to a rock ‘n’ roll behemoth.

Steely Dan makes a perfect musical match

Much like Aerosmith and The Black Crowes , the Eagles and Steely Dan – not saying goodbye, merely commemorating another lengthy career as a guest on the tour – are a dream team.

The ever-cool Donald Fagen strolled out in dark glasses and suit to the strains of “Josie” being unwrapped by the nine musicians – including a four-piece brass section and dazzling drummer Keith Carlock – who would help replicate Steely Dan’s intricate jazz-pop for an hourlong set.

Fagen’s voice was smooth and filled with character as he navigated “Hey Nineteen” and the head-nodding “Dirty Work.”

Always a band to listen to more than watch, Steely Dan wove through “Black Friday” – Fagen’s gnarled hands pushing the keys of his Fender Rhodes – and the insistent bass line of “Rikki Don’t Lose That Number.”

A rousing double shot of “My Old School” and “Reelin’ in the Years” adeptly laid the foundation for a night full of nostalgia, contemplation and celebration.

‘The Long Goodbye’: The Eagles announce farewell tour with Steely Dan

"This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on"

The Eagles

The Eagles have announced a farewell live tour across North America with Steely Dan – find all the details below.

The legendary band will begin the run of shows – titled ‘The Long Goodbye’ – at Madison Square Garden in New York on September 7 ahead of further performances in Boston (September 11), Newark (16) and Elmont, New York (20).

Resuming in early October, the group’s final tour is then set to visit Denver, Indianapolis, Detroit, Cleveland and Atlanta before additional stop-offs in other cities throughout November.

‘The Long Goodbye’ will see The Eagles – comprising Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Vince Gill and Deacon Frey – “perform as many shows in each market as their audience demands”, per a press release.

The tour is expected to continue into 2025, but further dates – potentially including the UK and Europe – are yet to be announced.

Credit and thanks go to our longtime management team, our dedicated road crew, and our exceptional backup musicians for providing skilled and steadfast support, throughout these many years.

“We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful. Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle.”

The Eagles went on to confirm that their farewell tour “is currently in the planning stages”, adding: “We want to give all our fans a chance to see us on this final round.”

They also confirmed that further concerts will be announced “as dates are set”, before highlighting the “difficulties of booking venues for multiple nights” due to demand. “But, we hope to see as many of you as we can, before we finish up,” the group continued.

“Most importantly, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.”

Eagles farewell tour setlist: Every song they played in Phoenix on the Long Goodbye Tour

when was eagles farewell tour

The Eagles brought their farewell tour, the Long Goodbye Tour, to downtown Phoenix Friday, Jan. 19, for the first performance of a two-night stand at Footprint Center , welcoming fans with the a cappella harmonies of “Seven Bridges Road,” a live staple that became a hit when they included it on 1980’s “Eagles Live.”

The last time the Eagles played Phoenix, they were on a 2023 Hotel California Tour, revisiting their most iconic studio release in its entirety , which meant dusting off rarely played treasures as timeless as “The Last Resort” and “Try and Love Again.”

For the Long Goodbye Tour, they’ve put the focus squarely on their greatest hits, including nearly every song on “Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975),” which remains the most successful greatest hits collection in the history of rock ‘n’ roll.

Even the hits that weren’t actual hits are such seminal Eagles recordings that there’s a decent chance most people singing along would be surprised to learn “Tequila Sunrise” peaked at No. 64 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and “Desperado” was never released as a single.

That song would've been a massive hit.

This link will take you to a full review of Saturday's performance.

If you're looking for more Eagles content, you should see how this setlist compares to our countdown of the greatest Eagles songs of all time , an unabashedly subjective exercise in geeking out on classic Eagles songs.

  • ”I Can't Tell You Why”
  • “New Kid in Town”

Eagles veteran after Haason Reddick trade: ‘Feeling good’

Eagles edge rusher Brandon Graham believes his teammates are prepared to replace Haason Reddick’s production.

After trading Reddick to the New York Jets last month, the Eagles’ pass rush group is unproven and a few players will have to step up next year. In two weeks, general manager Howie Roseman could also draft a pass rusher in the first two rounds.

BUY EAGLES TICKETS: STUBHUB , VIVID SEATS , TICKETMASTER

Graham is confident everything will work out.

‘I’m feeling good because we still haven’t done the draft yet,” Graham told Ross Tucker on Wednesday . “Losing a player like Haason, we definitely have to count on Nolan (Smith) to make that leap for next year…. Bryce Huff , Sweaty (Josh Sweat ), them guys, man, I’m excited. Including myself, just helping them boys take it to the next level.

“I think Howie going definitely do something in the draft. But I like what we got right now.”

Graham told reporters last season that the 2024 season will be his “farewell tour.” In the past two seasons, his role significantly diminished and the production is starting to dip.

But after center Jason Kelce and defensive tackle Fletcher Cox both retired this offseason, it’s important that Graham’s veteran leadership is still around.

Graham can help the young defensive lineman grow into leadership roles and contribute as a rotational pass rusher. In 2023, he only finished with three sacks and 16 tackles.

In his 15th season, Graham will try to get a few more sacks and will certainly trash talk opponents.

Eagles’ three-step team-building plan has continued to serve them well

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - OCTOBER 22: General Manager of the Philadelphia Eagles Howie Roseman looks on prior to a game against the Miami Dolphins at Lincoln Financial Field on October 22, 2023 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (Photo by Mitchell Leff/Getty Images)

“I don’t think I ever talked this long during questions,” Howie Roseman said.

The general manager grinned at Nick Sirianni. The head coach shrugged.

“Nice chewing of the clock,” Sirianni muttered.

“Thank you,” Roseman replied.

Roseman returned to his rambling, his two-minute, 40-second response to a question in which he partly defined the dynamic of his team-building philosophy. The Philadelphia Eagles hold the No. 22 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft , and there’s a surplus of premier offensive tackles. Well, how do they balance the idea of using that selection on a tackle when two-time first-team All-Pro Lane Johnson is under contract through 2026 and Jordan Mailata just signed a three-year, $66 million extension through 2028?

Roseman began by saying Johnson is “still one of the best players in the league,” an apparent dissuasion from any discussion of whether Johnson, who turns 34 in May, is considering retiring anytime soon. Retirement talk can’t be helped. Not after franchise pillars Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox recently said their goodbyes. Not when Brandon Graham is entering a self-described “ farewell tour .” But the Eagles leverage such leadership before it leaves the building. It’s baked into the calculus of the team’s draft-day decisions.

Consider how coaches develop players, Sirianni says. How do they get players to learn? “We let them study the greats,” he said. They dig out tapes of Hall of Famers, throw the film up on the screen and show the youngsters, reel after reel, what excellence looks like. But what if a team already has one of the greats on the roster? Wouldn’t that be a reasonable resource? Consider how, in 2022, the Eagles spent a second-round pick on Cam Jurgens — who only played center at Nebraska — although Kelce was still under contract, Roseman says. Consider how the Eagles traded up for defensive tackles Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter in each of the last two drafts while Cox was still expected to be (and wound up being) the team’s primary starter.

Eagles great Fletcher Cox on retiring from NFL: 'I gave this game all I can give'

“You have two options, right?” Roseman said. “You can kind of tell people stories about work ethic and how guys played or how they led, or you can have them watch that. So, for us, when we drafted Cam, we were still always trying to recruit Jason to keep playing for as long as he felt comfortable playing. But, at the same time, having him be able to study how Jason practices, how Jason leads, how Jason takes notes, instead of saying, ‘Man, Cam. You should’ve seen how Jason led, how he practiced, how he takes notes.’

“We think that gives him the best potential to reach the ability that he can do (it). And the same for Jordan and Jalen. There’s benefits to that. In the short term, you can say, ‘Well, you know, Cam sat for a year, really. So maybe you could’ve gotten some bigger bang for your buck with that second-round pick in the short term.’ But we think over the long term. And we’re trying to do things that are best for this team long term that it makes sense for these guys to be around these great players.”

It’s little wonder why Roseman’s reply was wordy. It’s a question that struck at the core of how the Eagles operate. Roseman, first an intern with the franchise in 2000, became the general manager beginning in 2010 and calls himself a “caretaker of this organization,” a steward whose ultimate responsibility involves preventing the roster from falling into the sort of disastrous disrepair that requires a rebuild.

The Eagles have long avoided such a roster reconstruction. A team consistently stocked with skill won Super Bowl LII, lost Super Bowl LVII and fielded just five losing seasons since 2000 — only once in back-to-back years. The central idea, Roseman said, has been to “get out in front of problems,” and, even when liberally applied, the idea explains the thinking behind every major decision he’s made this offseason.

go-deeper

Ten things we learned from 'The Beast' about the Eagles' draft options

It’s fitting that only an hour before Roseman and Sirianni met with reporters for their pre-draft news conference at the NovaCare Complex, DeVonta Smith sat behind the same podium and spoke about his contract extension . The Eagles picked up their 2021 first-round pick’s fifth-year option, then tacked on another three-year, $75 million extension that will keep Smith under contract through the 2028 season. Mailata (2018 seventh-round pick) and left guard Landon Dickerson (2021 second-rounder) also signed lucrative extensions through 2028, collectively representing the second of the team’s apparent three-step team-building plan under Roseman:

  • Build your roster through the draft.
  • Retain your best players by entering extension talks early, and reaching affordable long-term deals when the ever-increasing salary cap rises.
  • Prepare for the mid- and long-term future by drafting players who can develop behind those you awarded long-term extensions.

Before the Eagles drafted Smith No. 10 overall, they spent several seasons failing to supply their quarterbacks with pass catchers who were even passable . Then, by packaging a 2022 first-round pick with a third-round selection to acquire A.J. Brown from the Tennessee Titans , and immediately signing him to a four-year, $100 million extension, Roseman solidified star power at the position by effectively combining Steps 1 and 2 in one acquisition.

The Eagles believe the more they stick to this three-step process, the more it benefits the team’s culture. They value the mutual respect that comes with retention, the institutional knowledge that builds when players spend their entire careers with one team. Eight of the Eagles’ projected 22 offensive and defensive starters are former draft picks now playing on contract extensions. Five others are still playing within their rookie deals.

“Being a team starts with your relationship with each other,” Smith said. “Everybody is comfortable pushing you to the limits that are uncomfortable.”

Roseman is accepting a risk within his strategy. He often secures extensions with players by guaranteeing them substantial percentages of the contract’s total value (Smith’s deal includes $51 million guaranteed). Roseman also spreads out the cap hits associated with those guarantees across voidable years (Smith’s deal has four) in which players are still on the books long after their time with the team has technically expired.

go-deeper

Eagles NFL Draft 2024 guide: Picks, predictions and key needs

The Eagles have 17 players who will be paid a combined $409.6 million in bonuses during voidable years alone, according to Over the Cap. Those guarantees must eventually be paid, even during regression, injury or retirement. Kelce, who had four voidable years included in his contract, will be a $16.4 million cap hit in 2025. Although, by then, he won’t have played a snap in two seasons. But in the era of an ever-growing salary cap (which increased by $30 million this offseason ), Roseman believes the money is well spent.

“It really gives you tremendous flexibility as you build your team going forward,” he said. “It’s a great success story for us to be able to draft guys and sign them to extensions. I think it’s a great message to our team that if you come here and do the right thing, you don’t have to leave. Obviously, unfortunately, we lost two players, two of the greatest Eagles in the history of our franchise have retired, but they played with one franchise. We’re very optimistic that two of our other guys will wind up doing that. I think that’s legacy to be able to have players who are able to do that. And when other players see that, I think that’s a good part of building culture.”

So, back to the original question: Could the Eagles spend the No. 22 overall pick on a tackle? Could they effectively cross out “Step 3” by trading up to acquire a versatile prospect like Washington’s Troy Fautanu? This, of course, Roseman wouldn’t reveal. His lecture may suggest they could very well pick an offensive tackle. But that rationale could just as easily be applied if the Eagles draft a cornerback behind 33-year-old Darius Slay , or a wide receiver who can develop behind Brown and Smith, or another edge rusher who can learn from Graham.

The Eagles don’t intend to reach for the sake of drafting a specific position. Their roster-building strategy has long afforded them the luxury of choice.

Aerosmith announces new farewell concert tour dates after Steven Tyler's injury forced postponement

B OSTON - Aerosmith's farewell tour is back on. The iconic rock band from Boston announced it will continue its "Peace Out" tour this year, months after a vocal cord injury to lead singer Steven Tyler forced several concerts to be postponed.

New and rescheduled Aerosmith tour dates

The announcement includes some new concert dates in addition to a long list of rescheduled shows stretching into 2025.

The band will return to the stage to play their greatest hits on Sept. 20 in Pittsburgh for a newly added show at PPG Paints Arena with special guest Teddy Swims, and then play Philadelphia's Wells Fargo Center on Sept. 23.

Aerosmith says a highlight of the tour will be a "special hometown show" on New Year's Eve at Boston's TD Garden. The band was supposed to ring in 2024 at the Garden before Tyler's injury.

Some of the rescheduled stops on tour include Dallas (Nov. 9), Denver (Nov. 18), San Francisco (Nov. 30), Los Angeles (Dec. 7), Detroit (Jan. 4), Chicago (Jan. 19) and New York (Feb. 23). Click here for a full list of dates for the tour, which will also feature special guests The Black Crowes.

Steven Tyler's vocal injury

The announcement from Aerosmith did not include an update on Tyler's health. The "Dream On" singer, who just turned 76 years old, had previously said he suffered vocal cord damage during a performance last September "that led to subsequent bleeding," and a doctor ordered him not to sing for 30 days.

After canceling a handful of shows, the band later postponed its farewell tour to 2024 because Tyler's injury was "more serious than initially thought" and included a fractured larynx.

Tyler posted to social media in late November that his throat was "on the mend." He shared a similar message earlier this year while hosting a Grammys viewing party in February. People magazine reported that he told attendees "My throat's been better, but it is on the mend."

Aerosmith began in Boston in 1970. The five original members - Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Joey Kramer and Tom Hamilton - lived together in an apartment in Allston . The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
