Finally got to see them! Had a good 15 years to wait due to unfortunate circumstances, but made it happen.
Made sure i was in the pit,got hurt, and loved every minute of it!
They even played a bunch of my favorite songs...just wish i had more funds to have gotten a vinyl.

One of the best shows I've ever witnessed. The mastery of Karl Sanders and George Kollias is epic, and pure joy to behold. The venue, Wildwood, is by far the best venue in town and maybe statewide. Nile is easily one of the greatest bands of all time.
Nile was phenomenal! Precise, and blisteringly devastating. I've been a fan for more than 15 years and this was my first opportunity to see them live. Impressive to say the least.

Nile (band)
American death metal band / from wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, dear wikiwand ai, let's keep it short by simply answering these key questions:.
Can you list the top facts and stats about Nile (band)?
Summarize this article for a 10 year old
Nile is an American death metal band from Greenville, South Carolina , formed in 1993. The band's current lineup consists of founding member Karl Sanders (guitars, vocals), George Kollias (drums), Brian Kingsland (guitars, vocals) and Dan Vadim Von (bass, vocals). The band is known for their dedicated lyrical and musical style, which is inspired by Egyptology and works of H. P. Lovecraft . Since its formation, the band has released nine studio albums , two compilations , three extended plays , two demos , three singles , and five music videos . Their latest studio album, Vile Nilotic Rites , was released on November 1, 2019, through Nuclear Blast .
Taylor Swift's 'Tortured Poets' album references The Blue Nile. Who is the Scottish band?
Taylor Swift's new album "THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT" is full of name drops and allusions. The album's ninth track mentions the Scottish band The Blue Nile, a group with a surprising Knoxville connection.
Swift's "Guilty as Sin?" opens with a reference to The Blue Nile and their song "The Downtown Lights": "Drowning in the Blue Nile / He sent me Downtown Lights / I hadn't heard it in a while / My boredom's bone deep / This cage was once just fine / Am I allowed to cry?"
The song "The Downtown Lights " came out on The Blue Nile's album "Hats," which was released in 1989 - both Swift's birth year and the title of her fifth studio album . Swift's re-recording of "1989" was her most recent release prior to "THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT."
Why did Taylor Swift mention The Blue Nile? And does Matty Healy have anything to do with it?
Some fans and news outlets have speculated that the allusion, and the song as a whole, point toward Matty Healy, lead singer of the band The 1975 , who it's believed dated Swift in 2023. Healy's certainly a fan of their music.
"The Blue Nile are my favorite band of all time," Healy said in a 2016 Vulture interview.
Who is The Blue Nile?
The Blue Nile, an alternative pop trio formed out of Glasgow, Scotland in 1981, consists of bassist Robert Bell, singer Paul Buchanan and keyboardist P. J. Moore, according to Pitchfork .
They released their debut album "A Walk Across the Rooftops" in 1984, which has "signals of what would later become known as sophisti-pop," according to Stereogum . But "Hats," which features "The Downtown Lights," is far and away the group's greatest success.
What is The Blue Nile's connection to Knoxville?
The band performed at the now-closed Knoxville venue Ella Guru's in August 1990, the News Sentinel reported the same year. Their stop in Knoxville was part of the group's first tour, for their second album "Hats." Tickets to that show were just $8 at the time.
Frontman Buchanan was self-depricating, according to the News Sentinel's profile prior to the band's local performance. "Buchanan would never admit that the dream-like, poetically passionate music he and his friends have created is good."
The Blue Nile's time in Knoxville turned out to have a lasting legacy. Their stop in the Scruffy City was immortalized in the 30-minute documentary "Flags and Fences," which follows their '90s American tour. But for many years, it wasn't possible to see.
"Flags and Fences," created by Bernard Rudden, was for a long time thought to be lost, but a copy was eventually located by Trevor Ward, according to IMDb. Now, the full documentary can be found on YouTube . Although the footage is quite grainy, more than one shot has clearly been captured in Knoxville.
The outside of Ella Guru's, which was located in the Old City, is visible several times throughout "Flags and Fences," and some scenes provide different angles of North Central Street. The tower that now belongs to Lonesome Dove, along with the nearby Coca-Cola mural, are some of the more recognizable landmarks.
Dave Wilson shared memories of The Blue Nile's time in Knoxville in a comment on their Facebook post sharing the documentary in 2015. His copy of "Hats" was signed by each band member, and footage of the interaction can be found in the documentary. "We met at Ella Guru's in Knoxville, Tennessee," Wilson wrote.

The Starting Line on Getting a Taylor Swift Shout-Out in ‘The Black Dog,’ 22 Years After Pop-Punk Band’s Breakout: ‘It’s an Unexpected Showering of Love’

There’s no golden ticket quite like the golden ticket of finding your name in the lyrics of a Taylor Swift song. It’s one thing if you’re Charlie Puth, and already on a list of Spotify’s 150 top monthly artists. But for another musical artist name-checked in Swift’s album “ The Tortured Poets Department ,” the impact stands to be much more impactful. The pop-punk band the Starting Line gets mentioned twice in the song “The Black Dog,” and suddenly nostalgia for (or newfound curiosity about) the Philadelphia-based group is skyrocketing.
Popular on Variety
The Starting Line actually enjoys the distinction of being the only other artist to get mentioned twice by name in the album lyrics. Take that, Puth, Blue Nile, Patti Smith, Dylan Thomas, Clara Bow and Stevie Nicks! (Actually, it could be three times, since, beyond the two mentions in “The Black Dog,” the phrase “the starting line” also pops up separately in the song “Fresh Out the Slammer,” but it isn’t used as a band reference there, just a figure of speech… or is it? )
The name pops up in the first chorus:
I just don’t understand how you don’t miss me In The Black Dog When someone plays The Starting Line and you jump up But she’s too young to know this song That was intertwined in the magic fabric of our dreaming Old habits die screaming
And wait, in the second round, they’re back:
“I feel like it’s trying to impart some sort of nostalgia of the time and the kind of music that we were making at that time, and I’m very flattered that we were the representation of that,” Vasoli says.
Swift would have been turning 13 the year “Best of Me” came out, a number that obviously holds a special place for her, even possibly as an age. And even though the song was a national hit with emo fans, establishing the Starting Line as Warped Tour material, the group remains hometown heroes in the Philadelphia area, not far from where Swift grew up, which may solidify a nostalgic appeal for her.
Yet the lyrics also clearly establish that excitement over sharing “Best of Me” was something that she and the person she just broke up with in the song had in common… and Swift doesn’t often lie in her material. So the question riling fans up has been: If it’s not fiction, is it more likely to be about Matty Healy or Joe Alwyn?
“I’m certainly getting a crash course in the backstory between the characters that are involved in this thing,” says Vasoli, not picking any sides himself. “So it’s been a pretty fascinating study in fandom, for sure.”
Lending obvious weight to the argument in favor of Healy, the frontman for the 1975, is that he actually sang “Best of Me” twice in concert while dating Taylor Swift , at least by the timelines laid out on the world wide web. Or at least he sang a snippet of the Starting Line’s signature song at a show April 21, 2023 and again on May 3 of last year. “Shout-out to people in their thirties,” Healy quipped after performing the song excerpt. Now, it’s not easy to say conclusively that no one else who has split with Swift in recent years was a major emo-head, too, but the Internet is just sayin’.
When Healy started showing his love for the Starting Line in concert last spring, “we heard about it, but it certainly didn’t get the kind of attention that this did. It seems like now people are kind of checking out those YouTube videos of him covering that song a little bit more, and there’s a little bit more investigation to be had about them. At the time it was just sort of a cool thing that was passed around between the guys, but didn’t make it much further past that.”
(Arguing against the theory that “The Black Dog” is about Healy, though: Based on photographs Jack Antonoff posted of studio sessions from last year, fans believe the song was recorded in mid-May 2023. Which would lend itself to a hypothesis that it’s really about Alwyn, and that she played the song for Healy, who was then inspired to cover “Best of Me” in concert. A tangled web.)
But they wouldn’t be playing “Best of Me” over the PA in a metal bar, so we can probably at least rule the Paris possibility out, right? “I don’t know. You know, we’re heavier than you would think,” Vasoli counters. “We surprise people with our heaviness once we get up there.”
But he doesn’t have any personal knowledge of any of the Black Dog geo-location possibilities. “No, the only black dogs I’ve met are just good boys and girls out there at the dog park,” he says. “Your guess is as good as mine on that one.”
The Starting Line only has two shows on the books at present: a gig at the Novo in Los Angeles on the first day of summer, June 21, followed much further down the line by a set at the When We Were Young festival Oct. 19. The Starting Line actually played quite a few shows in 2023; these were the most the band had done in about a quarter-century.
Could they book a lot more now, and bill themselves as one of the few Swift-endorsed rock ‘n’ roll bands of their ilk in the world?
“You know, it’s been sort of a point of conversation of, how much do you lean into something like this?” Vasoli admits, a little cagey even with himself about how much to be seen as taking advantage of it. “Because something like this is not something you really plan for in your music career,. The reverberations have been very big and we’re just sort of trying to accept it with gratitude at this point, sitting back and just seeing what happens from it.”
Although the singer says those two concert dates “are it for now, there’s gonna be more that’s coming down the pike and more that’s getting booked. The vast majority of the band has day jobs that keep them obligated to stay home a little bit, more than some of the other bands. So we don’t hit the road for too long on a regular basis, but we’re trying to get into a rhythm where we can do more of it.”
He also says new music will be heard from the group, for the first time since a 2015 EP.
“There’s been an uptick in us playing together, and a really great interpersonal dynamic between the band members recently that has been very creative and inspirational, playing together recently. So we’ve been into a creative process writing new music since last year. We’re just collecting everything and figuring out the best way to get that out there. But we’re generating music and have been for a bit of time. With us trying to get back into a more usual pace with the band, after all this time, it’s nice that we’re getting a little bit of light on us at this moment, especially given that we’re engaging more than ever since like 2007, when we kind of let our foot off the gas.”
Sample comments on Reddit threads about the Starting Line’s name-check: “I am losing my millennial mind over this reference.” “This one was for the elder emo swifties.” “I screamed! They were my absolute favorite band in high school. My husband and I still listen to them all the time.” “All the elder emo millennials screaming: One of us, one of us.” “That moment when you realize you’re a musical influence to one of the biggest stars on the planet.” “Drop the (Starting Line) cover of the song immediately.”
And: “THIS IS THE MOST PENNSYLVANIA THING THIS WOMAN HAS EVER DONE. i’m so happy for you guys.”
(For those who really pay attention to both intersecting worlds, a joint fan noted: “Funny to think the Starting Line and Jack’s first band Steel Train were both on Drive Thru Records.”)
The singer still seems wonderstruck, to borrow a Swiftian word, about this stroke of recognition. “It’s a trip man, for sure. I can be nothing but really grateful and humbled by this whole thing. And it’s nice that I even get to speak with someone like you about our group in any capacity. So very happy about it.”
And if more dates are indeed in the offing as a result of this? “Please, everybody come check our band out. If it’s good enough for the name drop, come check out the goods.” He is suddenly abashed at what he just said. “You don’t have to print that part. That sounds so weird.” Vasoli can be forgiven for a little enthusiasm: Being embedded in the document that the whole world is scanning — a lyric sheet — is the kind of thing that can make somebody jump up.

From The Blue Nile to Charlie Puth, here are all the artists named in Taylor Swift's 'The Tortured Poets Department'
- Taylor Swift debuted her 11th studio album, "The Dead Poets Department," on Friday.
- The project is a double album featuring 31 songs, some of which reference other artists.
- Steve Nicks is mentioned on a track called "Clara Bow," which references a famed actor.
Taylor Swift has done it again.
After dropping her new album "The Tortured Poets Department," the singer dropped jaws by releasing a second part to the album mere hours later called "The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology." The double album has a total of 31 songs.
In it, she outlines the loves and losses she's had while paying tribute to some of the artists and celebrities who have influenced her along the way — for better or worse.
Dylan Thomas
Swift also makes a reference to Dylan Thomas , the famed Welsh poet.
In the chorus of her song, Swift sings: "I laughed in your face and said/ 'You're not Dylan Thomas, I'm not Patti Smith/ This ain't the Chelsea Hotel, we're modern idiots'/ And who's gonna hold you like me?"
Thomas, who is known for his poem, "Do not go gentle into that good night," frequented The Hotel Chelsea in New York City and lived there with his wife before his death in 1953, according to a website about the poet run by his family. The hotel was where Thomas worked on one of his final pieces before he was hospitalized and died.
A plaque outside the hotel was erected about a decade after Thomas' death, commemorating that he "lived and labored last here at the Chelsea Hotel and from here sailed out to die."
Patti Smith
In the same line, Swift also names Patti Smith, a poet and singer inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
By mentioning Thomas and Smith, Swift seems to suggest that she and her lost lover can't compare to the great artists who came before them.
Like Thomas, Smith also frequented The Hotel Chelsea and is named and quoted on the historic hotel's website .
"I loved this place, its shabby elegance, and the history it held so possessively… So many had written, conversed, and convulsed in these Victorian dollhouse rooms," Smith once said of the hotel, according to its website.
The Blue Nile
Track nine of "The Dead Poets Department" featured a callout to The Blue Nile, a Scottish band formed in the 1980s. Swift's lyrics reference the band's 1989 song, "The Downtown Lights."
"Drownin' in the Blue Nile/ He sent me 'Downtown Lights'/ I hadn't heard it in a while," the lyrics read.
Swift's former beau Matty Healy said his band, The 1975, drew inspiration from The Blue Nile for their song, "Love It If We Made It."
"That definitely started out as us just killing 'Hats' every night before we went onstage, listening to that record until it broke. It's slightly different; it's like Blue Nile on steroids," Healy told Pitchfork in November 2018. "We wanted it to sound really machine-like, in an industrial sense."
Swift named one song after Clara Bow , an actor who found fame in the 1920s amid the silent film era. Bow is considered the be the original Hollywood "It Girl," according to Biography.com .
"You look like Clara Bow/ In this light, remarkable/ All your life, did you know/ You'd be picked like a rose?" the lyrics read.
Swift's lyrics discuss finding fame, which she appears to relate to Bow.
"I'm not trying to exaggerate/ But I think I might die if I made it, die if I made it/ No one in my small town thought I'd meet these suits in LA," the lyrics read.
Stevie Nicks
Swift also name-dropped Stevie Nicks in "Clara Bow." The legendary singer is known for her solo work and her time in the band Fleetwood Mac.
"You look like Stevie Nicks/ In '75, the hair and lips/ Crowd goes wild at her fingertips/ Half moonshine, a full eclipse," Swift sings.
The pair have a long friendship. They performed together at the 2010 Grammy Awards — just months after Swift was thrust into the spotlight when Ye, formerly Kanye West, snatched the mic from her hands at the 2009 VMAs.
Taylor Swift
Swift finally names herself in "Clara Bow," though it seems to be in a less complimentary light. She sings that she lacks "edge" compared to the star she's praising, whose future is "dazzling."
"You look like Taylor Swift/ In this light, we're lovin' it/ You've got edge, she never did/ The future's bright, dazzling," Swift sings.
It's not the first time Swift mentioned herself by her full name in a song, and she tends to be self-deprecating when she does it.
"Who is Taylor Swift anyway? Ew," she sings in "22," a pop hit off her "Red" album.
The Starting Line
The Starting Line is a pop-punk band Swift referenced in "The Black Dog," the first song on "The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology."
"How you don't miss me/ In The Black Dog/ when someone plays The Starting Line / And you jump up/ but she's too young to know this song ," the lyrics read.
Fans online speculated that Swift mentioned The Starting Line as an allusion to her former flame, Healy. Healy's band, The 1975, covered a 2002 song by "The Starting Line" while touring in 2023, according to The Independent .
Kim Kardashian
Although Kim Kardashian is never mentioned by name is Swift's lyrics, many fans and outlets think "ThanK you aIMee" is about the pair's beef.
The song's title has the letters "K," "I," and "M," capitalized, spelling "KIM."
"When I picture my hometown/ There's a bronze spray-tanned statue of you/ And a plaque underneath it/ That threatens to push me down the stairs, at our school," the lyrics read.
The feud began in 2016 when Kardashian defended her former husband Ye — formally known as Kanye West — and his song "Famous."
"I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous," Ye's lyrics read.
Swift's publicist said she was not aware that West planned to describe her as "that bitch" in a February 2016 statement. However, West said in X posts that he and Swift had a phone conversation about the lyric, during which she "gave her blessings."
By July, Kardashian shared a series of snapchats showing a purported phone call between Swift and West . The videos showed Swift and West talking, but there was no direct reference to the lyrics in question. Swift then called out the former couple, sparking a wave of backlash that inspired KimYe fans to use snake emojis to describe Swift.
Swift later dropped her 2017 album "Reputation," which some fans considered a career-shifting album that contains jabs at West and Kardashian.
The feud sparked again in 2020 when the full phone conversation between West and Swift leaked. Fans of Swift noted that the leaked call didn't make reference to the "that bitch" lyric, but Kardashian doubled down on her support for West with X posts.

Who are The Blue Nile, the Scottish band Taylor Swift references on Guilty as Sin?
Taylor Swift fans are scrambling to decipher the US artist’s many lyrical references on new album The Tortured Poets Society.
The Grammy-winning artist released her 11th studio album at midnight (5am GMT) on Friday 19 April, then announced an extended “anthology” version shortly after.
Swifties were surprised to learn that the majority of songs do not, in fact, appear to be about her six-year relationship with British actor Joe Alwyn, with exceptions such as “So Long, London” and “loml”.
Instead, much of her songwriting seems inspired by her brief fling with The 1975’s frontman Matty Healy, whom she dated around April and May last year.
On “Guilty as Sin?” she sings about “fatal fantasies” for someone from her past who sends her the 1989 song “The Downtown Lights”, by Scottish band The Blue Nile (she might have felt a particular affinity for the song as it was released the year she was born).
“Drowning in The Blue Nile/ He sent me ‘Downtown Lights’,” she sings. “I hadn’t heard it in a while/ My boredom’s bone deep/ This cage was once just fine/ Am I allowed to cry?”
Healy has mentioned his love for the Glasgow-formed trio on several occasions, calling them his “favourite band off all time”.
He also said that The 1975’s song “Love It If We Made It” was inspired by “The Downtown Lights”, calling it “Blue Nile on steroids”.
“Musically, they’ve inspired me so much,” he told Vulture in a 2016 interview. “There’s so much drama. It’s perfect nighttime music. It’s beautiful, romantic music with British sensibilities. The sounds on it are amazing.”
The Blue Nile were formed by childhood friends Paul Buchanan and Robert Bell, with Paul Joseph Moore joining the lineup in 1981.
“The Downtown Lights” was released as the lead single from their second studio album, 1989’s critically adored Hats . It reached No 67 in the UK and stayed in the charts for three weeks.
Somewhat unfortunately for fans, the band liked to take their time making new music; it was another seven years before they released their third album, Peace at Last.
“Obviously, we didn’t produce records very often; we didn’t try to generate an image of any kind,” Buchanan told The Quietus in a 2012 interview. “So no, I wouldn’t say we were careerist.”
And while the band haven’t released any new music since their fourth album, High , in 2004, they have never officially disbanded.
However, frontman and principal songwriter Paul Buchanan had a top 10 hit in the UK when he featured on “Sleep” by Texas, which peaked at No 6 on the charts.
“I don’t know what happened with the band,” he told The Quietus. “It’s up to everybody, and, in a way, I ended up making the [new solo] record for a number of reasons, but I suspect my uncertainty… and kinda mournfulness about the group was one of them.”
Swift will launch the UK leg of her Eras tour in Edinburgh, Scotland, this June.

Go beneath the streets on this tour of the spectacular, mind-bending Moscow Metro! Be awed by architecture and spot the Propaganda , then hear soviet stories from a local in the know. Finish it all up above ground, looking up to Stalins skyscrapers, and get the inside scoop on whats gone on behind those walls.
Know More about this tour
We begin our Moscow tour beneath the city, exploring the underground palace of the Moscow Metro. From the Square of Revolution station, famous for its huge statues of soviet people (an armed soldier, a farmer with a rooster, a warrior, and more), we’ll move onto some of the most significant stations, where impressive mosaics, columns, and chandeliers will boggle your eyes! Moreover, these stations reveal a big part of soviet reality — the walls depict plenty of Propaganda , with party leaders looking down from images on the walls. Your local guide will share personal stories of his/her family from USSR times, giving you insight into Russia’s complicated past and present. Then we’re coming back up to street level, where we’ll take a break and refuel with some Russian fast food: traditional pancakes, called bliny. And then, stomachs satiated, we are ready to move forward! We’ll take the eco-friendly electric trolleybus, with a route along the Moscow Garden Ring. Used mainly by Russian babushkas(grannies) during the day, the trolleybus hits peak hours in the mornings and evenings, when many locals use it going to and from their days. Our first stop will be the Aviator’s House, one of Stalin’s Seven Sisters, followed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs — and you’ll hear the legends of what has gone on inside the walls. Throughout your Moscow tour, you’ll learn curious facts from soviet history while seeing how Russia exists now, 25 years after the USSR.

Traveler Reviews
This tour exceeded our expectations. Nikolai (Nick), our tour guide, was very knowledgeable, thorough, and has a great personality. He didn't take shortcuts and really covered everything that was on the agenda in great detail. We saw beautiful metro stations and learned the history behind them, including many of the murals and designs.
We did the tour with Anna her knowledge and understanding of the History surrounding the metro brought the tour alive. Well done Anna!
