Jallo Park Butterfly House

The concept of the butterfly house was proposed by Iftikhar Ahmed, Vice Chairman of Park and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Lahore. According to the officials, it is Pakistan’s first-ever butterfly house that serves as the source of education and entertainment for the citizens. 

The management has put procedures in place to maintain artificial humidity in the butterfly house as butterflies can’t survive high temperatures.

The butterfly house also comprises an interpretation gallery, where you can learn more about butterflies, a butterfly tunnel, waterfalls, a stream, a collection of larvae, a rearing chamber, an aquarium, and a souvenir shop. 

Please note that when you buy a ticket to this section, it is valid for 15 minutes only, but that will not be a problem because 15 minutes are enough to explore every corner of Jallo Park’s butterfly house.

Creation of Jallo Park:

The recreational location, run by the Punjab Wildlife and Parks Department, was founded in 1978 and contained a forest research facility, a wildlife breeding center, a theme park, a sports complex, restaurants, and more. The park was once a reserve forest that provided lumber and fuel wood. Currently, the park is home to over 120 different tree and plant species.

Climate/Weather Condition:

The weather in Lahore usually hikes up to at least 40°C in summers and falls to 7°C in winters. However, the spring is generally delightful with a temperature of 20°C. What better time to visit a serene garden than in the spring? Winter, on the other hand, is also not an unpleasant season to visit.

How to get there:

Jallo Park is located on Jallo Road, which eventually links to Canal Road. It is close to both the Grand Trunk Road and the Lahore Ring Road. To the south of the botanical garden is Barki Road. Sky Land Water Park, Sozo Water Park, and Shalimar Gardens are some of the neighboring attractions. In the meantime, Allama Iqbal International Airport is a 30-minute drive away.

The house is a 300-foot tunnel that provides the best environment for insects. Inside the tunnel is a butterfly laboratory that serves as an educational tool by informing tourists about the diverse species found there. The atmosphere is carefully controlled since it is critical to preserve humidity, as butterflies cannot survive in high temperatures.

Lion safari, wildlife upgrades draw crowds

Jallo Park emerges as preferred attraction following closure of Lahore Zoo

After the temporary closure of Lahore Zoo and Safari Park due to ongoing upgradation projects, Jallo Park has witnessed a surge in visitors.

The newly established lion safari at Jallo Forest and Wildlife Park, a first of its kind, is set to open its doors to the public in the coming weeks, offering a unique experience for wildlife enthusiasts.

Additionally, the introduction of a zip line and a dedicated bike off-track adds to the recreational options for park visitors.

The Punjab government's three-month upgrade initiative has resulted in the relocation of several key animals, notably lions and tigers, from Lahore Zoo and Safari Park to Jallo Wildlife Park. Consequently, there has been an increased influx of tourists seeking leisure activities at Jallo Park.

Over the weekend, a large number of citizens, particularly children and women, enjoyed various activities such as boating, horseback riding, and exploring the wildlife. The newly introduced features, including zip lining and a bike off-track, added an element of thrill for motorcycle enthusiasts.

Jallo Forest and Wildlife Park, previously dormant for many years, has been revamped and is now open to tourists. The Wildlife Museum, featuring models of African lions, birds, tigers, ducks, bears, and deer, has become a popular attraction.

Bisma, a young visitor, expressed her delight at the expanded offerings in the park compared to her previous visit.

She highlighted the availability of camel, horse, and pony rides, along with the exciting prospect of encountering lions and tigers.

Mohammad Dawood, another visitor, shared his childhood memories of the park, noting the remarkable transformation and praising the Wildlife Museum for its educational value.

Spread over 460 acres in the east of Lahore, the wildlife park is a collaborative effort, with different sections managed by the Forest Department, PHA (Parks and Horticulture Authority), and the Punjab Wildlife Department.

The park now features a newly established lion safari, attracting attention from citizens.

Rana Naeem, the contract holder at Jallo Park, revealed plans for a state-of-the-art snake house and ghost bungalow, funded through private-sector support.

The snake house will feature unique snake species, while the ghost bungalow aims to provide a traditional yet thrilling experience.

Deputy Director of Wildlife Lahore Region, Tanveer Ahmed Janjua, shared that the development includes the construction of a zip line and a bike off-track, providing additional attractions.

Plans for a food court, modern swings, and upgraded facilities are also in progress.

He acknowledged citizen concerns regarding inadequate facilities, assuring that ongoing projects, funded through renewed approvals, will address these issues.

“As Jallo Park evolves into a comprehensive recreational destination, it promises to offer an enriched experience for visitors of Lahore and its neighbouring areas,” he said.

Yes, BBQ is allowed but only in Jallo Park and not in the Botanical Park. You will first take permission from park authorities through.

Not only boys but girls (better in groups) can visit here. A few months ago I watched a lonely lady roaming around on her scooter. I have been a regular visitor of the park since 2008 and have never seen or heard of any incident of purse/camera/mobile snatching.

Jallo Forest Park (Punjab)

Jallo Forest Park is forest reserve area in Lahore and ideal location for one day picnic point at the distance of 17 km from Lahore Railway Station via Canal Bank Road. Best way to reach

The park has set aside 43 acres for a wildlife breeding facility. The park received numerous sambar and chital deer in 2007 for breeding purposes. The park has received many new bird species, including parrot and pheasant varieties. This botanical orchard in Lahore is one of the greatest places to take your kids because it offers a lot to teach them about different flora and animals. Additionally, you can demonstrate to them the various types of wildlife, their life cycles, and their habitats.

There was also an addition of a sports complex with a 50-kilometer cycling track, cricket and soccer fields, volleyball and lawn tennis courts, and volleyball courts. Additionally, the park features a public pool. The butterfly dome, which is home to 3000 kinds of butterflies, is one of the main draws of this botanical garden in Lahore. The first butterfly house in Pakistan, so claims the officials, provides the populace with educational and recreational opportunities.

A butterfly conduit, waterfalls, a broadcast, a gathering of larvae, a hatchery compartment, an aquarium, and a gift shop are also included in the butterfly house. There is also an interpretation gallery where you can gain knowledge more about butterflies.

Jalo Park History

Jallo Park is an amusement park located in the Lahore District of Punjab Pakistan. Established in 1978 it is also known as Jallo Wildlife Park. Along with Changa Manga and Lahore Zoo, Jallo Park is among the three central wildlife parks in Lahore. Some of the facilities at Jallo Park include a forest research center, cafeterias, swimming pool, sports complex, and a theme park. A botanical garden is also a part of this park.

The park is currently under the supervision of the Government of Punjab. The park is built beautifully and one can spend a perfect evening here. It is one of the most beautiful parks in Pakistan. The greenery, fresh air, atmosphere, and some snacks can make an evening perfect at Jallo Park. There is no entry fee for the park, however; the rides in the park are at economical charges.

Jallo Park is a source of education about the forest and trees for the public. The beautiful landscape and nature’s view speaks for itself. Jallo Park has more than 120 species of trees and climbers. It is a prominent botanical garden with some exceptionally rare species of plants. It is an ideal location for nature lovers. It also has a 5 km cycle track too.

Some of the hotels nearby are Hotel Holiday, Royal Swiss Lahore, Beverly Inn Hotel, and Grand Enclave Hotel. The charges of hotels may vary accordingly. However, the most famous and elegant Royal Swiss Lahore Hotel costs 80 US Dollars for a day and night stay. Some other hotels are also available at lower rates. Jallo Park is a perfect public recreation and wildlife site so one can never repent going there.
