If you are a U.S. citizen traveling internationally, you will need a passport valid for six months beyond the completion of your Tauck journey for entry into the United Kingdom and France; however, you do not need a visa for either country for the short duration of this tour.

If you are a citizen of another country traveling internationally, you should contact an embassy or consulate of the United Kingdom and of France to determine what travel documentation is required.

Please note that longer stays abroad for any purpose may require additional travel documentation.

We recommend that you make at least two photocopies of all the travel documents that you bring with you. Include copies of the photo page of your passport that contains the date of issuance, the date of expiration and your citizenship. Secure one set of copies in the safe in your room while traveling and leave one set behind with someone at home who will assist you in the event your documents are misplaced, lost or stolen.

To facilitate Travel Requirements, destinations are increasingly utilizing online forms that require digital proof that you've successfully completed your submission (via an email, QR code, etc.) To ensure smooth travels and peace of mind, we strongly recommend all guests carry a personal smart phone and sign up for international data plans before traveling overseas.

TRAVELING WITH CHILDREN AS A GUARDIAN:  If you are traveling as the guardian of a child/children, we strongly suggest that you carry a letter from both parents of the child authorizing emergency treatment in the event of illness or accident. PLEASE NOTE THAT TAUCK IS NOT RESPONSIBLE for the disruption of travel caused by improper documentation for children traveling without both parents.

Travel Requirements For This Tour

Air Information and Luggage Restrictions

AIRFARE: Airfare to and from this destination is not included in the journey cost. If purchasing your air elsewhere, it is very important to provide us with your confirmed arriving and departing flight information no later than 3 weeks before your arrival date. Flight information can be submitted to Tauck (or verified, if you've already provided it) in the My Account section of Tauck.com.

TAUCK AIRPORT TRANSFERS are included at the start and end of the journey between the airport and the Tauck hotel. Airport transfers are available for any pre tour or post tour hotel stays immediately consecutive to the tour, providing flight information is received in the Tauck office no later than three weeks in advance. Details on locating your transfer upon arrival to the tour start city will be included in your final documents.

AIRLINES and CHECKED LUGGAGE: Due to space limitations during your Tauck journey, we ask that you please limit your checked luggage to one average-size suitcase per person. Besides complying with the Tauck restriction noted above, you should also be sure to research and comply with all airline baggage restrictions relating to your flights to and from your Tauck journey. Airlines have become much more strict in enforcing size and weight limits in recent years, and are free to revise luggage policies without notice. Researching and complying with airline luggage restrictions is the responsibility of the guest, and Tauck cannot be held responsible for any costs or disruptions to travel caused by the failure to research and comply with airline policies. PLEASE NOTE that if you are booked on a tour that includes on-tour flights, the checked luggage weight restrictions for these flights may be lower than the weight restrictions for your international flights.

Checked Luggage – General

Due to space restrictions, we ask that you please limit your checked luggage to one suitcase per person weighing no more than 50 pounds (23 kg) and with overall dimensions (length + width + height) not exceeding 62 inches (158 cm).

Besides complying with the Tauck restriction noted above, you should also be sure to research and comply with all airline baggage restrictions relating to your flights to and from your Tauck journey. Airlines have become much more strict in enforcing size and weight limits in recent years, and luggage exceeding airline standards for size or weight may result in expensive overage fees or other consequences.

Airlines are free to revise luggage policies without notice, and certain airlines have different baggage allowances for different classes of service. Researching and complying with airline luggage restrictions is the responsibility of the guest, and Tauck cannot be held responsible for any costs or disruptions to travel caused by the failure to research and comply with airline policies.

Tauck luggage tags will be provided by your Tauck Director on Day 1 of your itinerary. Please do not attach a Tauck luggage tag to any carry-on items, as the Tauck tags designate luggage that is to be handled and transferred by ground operators and hotel staff during your journey.

Carry-on Luggage - General

Although oversize bags and wheeled, carry-on luggage are popular for airline travel, they are often not convenient or appropriate for motor coach travel or for many on-tour flights. Most modern sightseeing motor coaches offer limited space for numerous or larger items. Space under seats or in the overhead rack is typically small, and designed to accommodate items like coats, hats, purses, and small camera bags, etc.

For your day-to-day travel while on tour, we recommend that you limit your hand luggage to a small, soft-sided carry-on piece, and that you bring only those items you need handy during the day such as make-up, medications, cameras, film, etc. Items too large to fit under the motor coach seat or on the overhead rack must be stored in the luggage bays beneath the motor coach, and may be inaccessible during daytime travel.

Health, Safety and Mobility

HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS

Please advise your Tauck Director on tour if you or the children traveling with you have any serious allergies. Also, adults may want to bring along children's aspirin or medicines as a precaution, as access to these may be limited.

Please check with your health insurance provider to determine whether you are covered while traveling. If you will not be covered under your current policy, we strongly suggest that you arrange for adequate coverage while on tour.

If you have a medical condition which might limit your participation in activities, please consult your physician for pre-departure health advice and notify us as soon as possible, if you have not already done so. We will advise your Tauck Director accordingly.

VACCINATIONS

If you are a resident of the U.S. traveling internationally, no vaccinations are currently required for travel to the United Kingdom or France. For complete vaccination and inoculation information, contact your physician, the public health service in your area, or the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A. The Travelers' Health Section of the CDC operates a 24-hour "Travelers' Health Hotline" at 800-232-4636 (toll-free in the U.S.). You may also log on to the CDC website by clicking here .

If you are a resident of another country traveling internationally, please contact an embassy or consulate of the United Kingdom and of France to determine what vaccination(s) may be required for your travel.

SPECIAL DIETARY REQUESTS

The restaurants, hotels, caterers and numerous other partners we work with all do their best to accommodate special dietary requests from Tauck guests. However, given the diverse nature of those food providers (from small wineries to grand hotels to world-famous restaurants in more than 70 countries worldwide), some of our partners are better able than others to accommodate such requests. We therefore cannot guarantee that all dietary requests can be accommodated at every meal. Also, please note that where dietary requests can be accommodated, choices will frequently be limited.

The Castles & Kings tour is relaxed and the pace is leisurely. You should be in good health and able to walk reasonable distances over uneven terrain, as some of the most memorable sightseeing can only be accomplished on foot. London and Paris are home to innumerable historic buildings and sites, some dating from antiquity. Therefore, roads, walkways and architecture may present difficulties for you if you have physical limitations. You will encounter cobblestone streets, narrow passageways, and some steep and winding staircases. For the most part, however, the amount of walking you do at the various sites and towns is at your discretion.

PLEASE NOTE:  We regret that this Tauck itinerary cannot accommodate wheelchairs or motorized scooters.  Likewise, we regret that we're unable to provide individual assistance to guests with walking difficulties or other personal needs.  The responsibility of the Tauck Director who accompanies your trip is to ensure that the larger group enjoys a relaxing and informative journey, and he or she cannot be relied upon to provide ongoing individual assistance to any one guest.  Guests requiring such individualized assistance must be accompanied by an able-bodied companion who can provide it.

Reading List

We have compiled a reading list of recommended books to give you more information about the destinations you will be traveling to on your upcoming journey!

You can view the reading list  here.

The weather in London and Paris is variable. Generally, daytime temperatures in the spring and fall range from 50 to 65°F (10 to 18°C) and in summer, 65 to 75°F (18 to 24°C). Rain falls evenly throughout the year and averages 1.5 to 2.5 in (38. to 64 mm) per month. Europe has experienced unusually warm temperatures during the summer months in recent years, so do include some lighter clothing in your travel wardrobe.

To read about current weather conditions, we suggest you log on to the Internet website by clicking here.

What To Pack

Bringing the right clothing for your trip is important – we've partnered with New Headings who provide an "easy-to-use, one-stop shop" for your Tauck travel needs, specifically selected for this trip. Click here to visit their site .

The weather in London and Paris is changeable and unpredictable. We suggest that you dress for comfort and convenience with a wardrobe that is flexible and allows for layering. Casual, cotton clothing is recommended. A light sweater or jacket will provide warmth on a chilly early morning walk or a late night stroll. Rain falls evenly throughout the year in both cities; however, the relative humidity in Paris is 10% higher than in London. In summer, the heat and humidity in Paris causes some moderate discomfort.

For the welcome and farewell receptions, casual resort wear is appropriate; formal wear is never required for dining with your fellow guests at a Tauck provided dinner. When dining on your own, you may have the opportunity to dine at an upscale restaurant, which may require men to dress in coat and tie, and women in more elegant eveningwear. It is advisable to avoid wearing jeans, sneakers or shorts for dinner.

You will find a hair dryer and bathrobes located in your hotel guest room. Irons and ironing boards are available upon request. Valet laundry and dry cleaning services are also available for a fee.

We recommend that you pack an adequate supply of your prescription medication in its original container to last through your entire journey, together with a copy of your doctor's prescription (or a letter from your health-care provider on office stationery explaining that the medication has been prescribed for you), a list of the generic names of your medication, your travel documents and a change of clothing in your carry-on bag to avoid any inconvenience in the event that your flight or luggage is delayed.

Following is a list of recommended items to pack for your trip to London and Paris:

  • Casual daytime wear – shorts, slacks, long and short-sleeved shirts
  • An optional jacket and tie for men
  • Casually elegant evening wear for ladies
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen, hat
  • A light sweater or jacket for higher elevations or a breezy night
  • Binoculars (7x50 preferably)
  • Insect repellent
  • Camera, lenses, batteries, memory cards and chargers
  • Lightweight, comfortable, sturdy walking shoes that have already been broken-in
  • Travel alarm clock/cell phone with alarm function (many hotels do not have clocks in the rooms)
  • Rain poncho and collapsible umbrella
  • Reusable zipper-lock bags or other waterproof bags
  • Daypack for camera equipment
  • Sundries and toiletries that may be difficult to find en route
  • Copies of your travel documents that should be secured in the safe in your hotel room while traveling

Each child 17 and under will be sent a complimentary backpack from Tauck Bridges! If the child resides in the continental United States, the backpack will be sent to his or her home approximately two weeks prior to the tour departure date (please note backpacks cannot be sent to P.O. boxes). If the child resides outside of the continental U.S., including Hawaii and Alaska, the backpack will be waiting on arrival at the first hotel on your itinerary.

Operated by Globus

It began more than 90 years ago, when a young man purchased a boat to transport visitors across Lake Lugano, Switzerland. Who would have thought that this single boat would launch one of the world's leading travel companies? Today, the Globus family of brands is a global company reaching every corner of the world, yet remains family-owned and steeped in the values Antonio Mantegazza had when he set out across Lake Lugano in 1928 - to enlighten travelers by showing them the very best of the destinations we know so well. At Globus, we create first-class escorted tours with just the right balance of included features & free time. We’re all about hidden gems, not hidden charges. We throw in more visits, toss in more experiences & include more sightseeing, all in the price of the vacation.

SUSTAINABILITY EFFORTS

Billie Eilish will continue her long-standing partnership with environmental nonprofit REVERB on this tour, building on the success of previous efforts, which resulted in over $1 million donated to environmental, greenhouse gas reduction, and climate justice projects, more than 150,000 fan actions, and much more. Sustainability efforts on this tour will include reducing greenhouse gas pollution, decreasing single-use plastic waste, supporting climate action, and updating concession offerings to promote and encourage plant-based food options with Support+Feed .

In keeping with her commitment to making a difference in the environmental impacts of her music and touring, a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales in North America will go to  REVERB  and its ongoing effort to help support organizations across the country addressing the impacts of food insecurity and the climate crisis.

ECO-VILLAGE

The Billie Eilish REVERB Eco-Villages will be set up at 2 locations in the main concourse of every show where fans can take part in the tour’s sustainability efforts, connect with nonprofits, and take meaningful action for people and the planet.

SUPPORT+FEED

For collective action at the intersection of climate and food, Support+Feed will be launching a 360 campaign throughout the tour. Following the success in 2022, Support+Feed will offer an expanded version of the Support+Feed Pledge inspiring fans to eat one plant-based meal a day for 30 days with digital elements and community activations. Fans will also have the opportunity to participate in Plant-based Food Drives in a selection of cities alongside the tour to raise awareness and gather food to distribute to local communities.

Fans are encouraged to join the effort to make the HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR more sustainable. Where possible, take public transportation and carpool to and from the shows to help reduce greenhouse gas pollution and encourage more public transportation options. Fans will receive information via email about public transportation options before the show.

Venue partners are also helping to lessen the environmental footprint of the tour. In addition to efforts to decrease waste through reducing or eliminating single-use plastics and diverting landfill waste with compost and recycling, venues will be offering plant-based food options at all shows.

FAN PARTICIPATION

Bring an empty reusable water bottle or donate for a custom RockNRefill Nalgene bottle to fill up at the free water refill stations located at each venue. The RockNRefill bottles and refill stations are located at the Eco-Villages in the main concourse at all shows. Fight fast fashion by opting for thrifted, upcycled, or borrowed clothes instead of buying new clothing to wear to shows.

*The tour wants to give fans, not scalpers, the best chance to buy tickets at face value. To make this possible they have chosen to use Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange. If fans purchase tickets for a show in the U.S. or Canada and can’t attend, they’ll have the option to resell them to other fans at the original price paid. To help protect the Exchange, the tour has requested all tickets be mobile only and restricted from transfer. This applies to all shows except those in Colorado, Illinois, and New York where Face Value Exchange cannot be mandated. Please note, a valid bank account or debit card within the country of your event is required to sell on the Face Value Exchange. More information on how the Ticketmaster Exchange works is available here .

BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, London

How to get BBC Proms 2024 tickets, plus this year’s schedule and dates

Everything you need to know about the 2024 edition of one of the world’s best classical music festivals

Liv Kelly

Anyone who’s ever stepped inside the Royal Albert Hall will understand that it can’t be filled with just any old music – it needs scale and drama. And every year it gets exactly that with the BBC Proms, one of London’s best-loved and most dazzling cultural festivals.

The Promenade Concerts (as they’re also known) have taken place in the RAH throughout the summer since way back in 1895. They’ve been organised by the BBC since 1927.

The likes of Pete Tong, Stormzy, Kylie Minogue and even Dame Judi Dench have all made appearances at the Proms in the past, and this year the likes of Florence + the Machine and Sam Smith are set to perform. It’s not all orchestral renditions of classic classical pieces of music (although there will be plenty of that, too).

2024’s season of BBC Proms is kicking off in mid-July. Want to bag yourself a ticket? We’ve got all the info on tickets, dates and the schedule: here is everything you need to know about the BBC Proms 2024.

When is the BBC Proms?

The proms are running throughout the summer, from Friday July 19 until Saturday September 14 2024 .

When do Proms tickets go on sale?

Season passes for the Proms go on sale at 9am on Thursday May 16  and general tickets go on sale at 9am on Saturday May 18 (but this doesn’t include Last Night at the Proms – these will likely be allocated by ballot).

They’ll be available from the Royal Albert Hall website here .

What’s this year’s schedule?

More than 90 concerts will be taking place over the 58-day festival, most of which are at the Royal Albert Hall. First Night at the Proms will feature performances by BBC Singers, Symphony Chorus and Symphony Orchestra, as well as a First Night debut for conductor Elim Chan.

Other highlights include Everybody Dance: The Sound of Disco (Jul 20) where hits by Chic, Gloria Gaynor, Diana Ross, Boney M and more will be brought to live with an orchestra, Florence + The Machine – Symphony of Lungs  (Sep 11) where Florence Welch and conductor Jules Buckley lead celebrations of her BRIT Award-winning debut album, and of course, the Last Night at the Proms (Sep 14), which is apparently the world’s biggest classical music party, celebrating the end of 2024’s season.

You can look at the list of events on the BBC’s Proms calendar here , or view all the performers and conductors or the composers . There’s also a full festival guide, which you can learn more about here .

Paris Hilton shares adorable first photos of daughter London after keeping 5-month-old off social media

Paris Hilton posted the first photo of her and Carter Reum’s daughter, London, five months after her arrival .

The little one sat on her mom’s lap while wearing a pink outfit and a matching bow on her head in the sweet family snaps, shared via Instagram Friday.

“Introducing London Marilyn Hilton-Reum,” Hilton captioned the shots, taken by Camraface .

“I’ve dreamed of having a daughter named London for as long as I can remember🥹.”

She continued, “I’m so grateful she is here😍 I truly cherish every moment I spend with her. Together with Phoenix, my angel babies have shown me a love that I never even knew could run so deep before I became their mother 💖.”

The “Simple Life” star stunned fans when she revealed after Thanksgiving 2023 that she and Reum welcomed their second child together.

Hilton announced the birth by sharing a photo via Instagram on Nov. 24 of an all-pink girl’s outfit with the name London embroidered on the top. She also placed a pair of red heart sunglasses and a teddy bear on the monochromatic outfit.

“Thankful for my baby girl,” the hotel heiress captioned the photo.

Several of Hilton’s famous friends and family members congratulated her and Reum and expressed their love for the family of four.

The “Paris In Love” star and her entrepreneur husband, both 42, seem to like keeping the births of their children secret.

They also didn’t reveal they were welcoming their first child together until after he was born. Hilton announced the birth of their son, Phoenix, via surrogate in January.

Paris Hilton

“You are already loved beyond words 💙,” she captioned a photo of the little one holding her hand.

Hilton showed his face for the first time a month later and has been easing into sharing even more photos of her firstborn over the last ten months.

When asked earlier this month about London’s social media absence , she promised via TikTok that pictures were coming “soon.”

Paris Hilton and son

Later that same month, Hilton added in an E! News interview that she wanted to “keep [her] little girl” to herself .

She explained to Rolling Stone in March 2023 that she kept her surrogacy journey private, because her life has always felt “so public” and “invaded.”

“I felt like, for my baby, I just wanted him to come into the world and just be here and not have all this weird [attention],” she told the outlet.

Hilton and Reum tied the knot in November 2021 after having known each other for a decade.

They first started dating in 2019.

Secret Food Tours are in 63 cities worldwide from Amsterdam to Tokyo, with recent launches in Atlanta, Savannah, Brussels and Stockholm. The aim is to be in 100 cities by the end of 2024.

Brussels, Belgium. Grand Place, one of the recent Secret Food Tours launches

What sets Secret Food Tours apart from their competitors is that they offer unique experiences tailored to each destination, with no two tours identical. Guests learn about each city's history, local food purchasing habits and the influence of food on the area's culture. And key to the experience is the quality of the company’s 250 guides who each have expert local knowledge and often culinary and/or history backgrounds too. Each tour includes a special “Secret Dish” that is only revealed at the end of the tour. Insider knowledge ensures that guests will discover the best secret delicacies beloved by locals and often missed by tourists. The tours are a decent size, with no more than 12 guests, and often less, making for a really special, intimate experience.

While they may not have had food or tourist industry backgrounds and didn’t realise how quickly the company would grow, the two founders obviously knew they had an excellent, scaleable idea. In addition to being French with a natural passion for fine food, Nicolas Jacquart is a tech genius who initially started his career as an online games developer. British entrepreneur Oliver Mernick-Levene’s background is in marketing a wide variety of brands in technology and finance, ranging from blue-chip multinationals like Microsoft and Sony, to SMEs and startups.

Borough Market entrance, London

The London Bridge Food Tour is a great example of why Secret Food Tours is a market leader. English food doesn’t have the best reputation but this tour offers ample evidence to the contrary. Often led by the excellent Tom Blyth, an actor, film maker and former chef, the tour covers the fascinating history of the bridge area and the food of Borough Market. Tom also covers more contemporary history and points out where Bridget Jones’ apartment was (handy knowledge with a new Bridget Jones movie out soon). Borough Market has had a food market on the same site since the 12th century but it began with a bridge. For centuries, London existed as a compact walled city along the northern bank of the Thames River. Across the river lay its distinct counterpart, Southwark, characterized by a frontier atmosphere with its own set of norms and activities: bustling with pubs, brothels, street vendors, artisans, and lawbreakers. The sole connection between the two areas, and the primary gateway into the City of London from the southern bank, was London Bridge where the tour starts.

Fish and Chips

Following a fascinating overview of the area and the bridge often mistaken for the more attractive Tower Bridge, the London Bridge tour starts with a mouthwatering breakfast “bap” (a soft roll stuffed with bacon and egg). The tour also features award-winning fish and chips (this establishment definitely deserves all the accolades), classic sausage rolls, English cheeses paired with local beer/cider and a typical, very moreish British dessert. Plus, as with all these tours, guests are given a “Secret Dish,” a surprise at the end of the tour which you’ll probably need to take away as you’ll be completely full by this point.

Secret Food Tours cost from €75.00 - €129.00/person in European Cities, $79.00 - $139.00 in North America, $59.00 - $130.00 in Asia and $149 in Australia.

Paris 2024 Olympics schedule, dates and day-by-day events

The Paris 2024 Olympics will officially launch with the opening ceremony on Friday 26 July, setting off the two-and-a-half-week festival of sport which all comes to an end on Sunday 11 August.

Three years on from the pandemic-delayed Tokyo Games , the Paris Olympics will see the addition of a new sport, breakdancing (or breaking) , added to the mix. Other modern additions like 3x3 basketball, BMX, surfing, skateboarding and climbing all retain their spots in the schedule, but karate and baseball have been dropped.

Then there are the traditional big draws to watch out for, like swimming (Sat 27 July to Sun 4 Aug), artistic gymastics (Sat 27 Jul to Mon 5 Aug), athletics (Thu 1 to Sun 11 Aug) and track cycling (Mon 5 Aug to Sat 10 Aug). With an extra day of swimming scheduled this time, it means the middle Olympic weekend will feature swimming, gynastics and athletics across both days.

In total there are 32 sports, with some further broken down into separate disciplines totalling 48. All together there will be 329 events – and therefore 329 gold medals to fight for.

Some events including archery, football and rugby sevens will begin two days before the opening ceremony in order to ease schedule congestion for the athletes. Here is a closer look at the full schedule for the Paris Olympics:

Paris 2024 Olympic schedule

When do the Paris Olympics start?

Paris 2024 formally begins on Friday 26 July with the opening ceremony. Traditionally, competing athletes parade into a stadium behind their national flag, but organisers have instead decided to create an “open ceremony” in the French capital.

Athletes will be transported by boat along the River Seine, passing major landmarks like the Louvre, Notre-Dame and Place de la Concorde on a 6km route. A mini-stadium will be set up at the Place du Trocadero near the Eiffel Tower for 30,000 spectators to watch the official lighting of the Olympic flame, with another half a million expected to line the river banks and other major sites to watch.

When do the Paris Olympics end?

The closing ceremony will take place at the Stade de France on Sunday 11 August.
