Absolutely fantastic experience with Capt. Jesse and deckhand Patrick. We had so much fun out of the boat in Ketchikan (and we saw a humpback and plenty of bald eagles May 2023). We felt welcomed and we loved how knowledgeable the team was! We will definitely be booking again when we return in 2024! Don't miss this one.

Please do not hesitate to choose this company for your whale watching trip. Not a large boat so you will have a very personal experience. Best eagle experience and we did see whales. The captain was very responsible about keeping the correct distance from the whales. We learned about the history of the area. Heard great stories of whale encounters. They even drive us back to our ship. We heard more great old log mining stories from the driver. Best excursion we went on.

This was very sad. We had two families on the trip, one with a very VERY bad-behaving teens (three) and one with two children, one of which SCREAMED AT EVERYONE and everything. This ruined the entire trip, dealing with fighting and screaming that the boat staff ignored. What should have been done? Not sure, but a gentle reminder to the PARENTS who left the children unsupervised would be a nice start. The crew ACKNOWLEDGED that the horrid kids were not supervised. That was actually left to us to do. PEOPLE: Don't bring children to anything if they cannot behave. YOU RUIN EXPENSIVE TRIPS for others who have disciplined children and manners! Crew: Have parents sign a waiver for misbehaving kids. FORCE them to sit with them instead of leaving them in the boat kitchen area to throw donuts on the floor, get under the tables, scream at other passengers, and generally make us ANGRY that we booked the tour. PLEASE! It may discourage parents who refuse to raise their children to pick something else.

Booked for whale watching and wildlife viewing in August 2021. No whales that day but we saw eagles and seals and they had delicious snacks on board. A pretty informal vibe but I like that, it makes the experience feel more authentic than something with a strict structure and scripted dialogue. Only slight complaint is there was confusion with the people they picked up before me so I got picked up 15 minutes after they said I would - they did still show up and the boat didn't leave until we were all there, it just made me nervous that they'd forgotten they were picking me up and I had to call a few times before someone answered and explained the situation. I would still recommend them though!

Decided not to book an excursion from the cruise ship because it was sold out. So, hoping to find something on shore I cruised the Ketchikan tours building seeing what was available. We narrowed it down between land tours and boat tours, because that was what was on offer. There were 3 or 4 being offered of each and the reasons I chose Eagle One Enterprises were: no hype, no promises of sightings, no buildup of what was seen yesterday or last month. Jesse stated that there were no guarantees of whale sightings, but it was a beautiful day to see if there were whales out there, I like honesty. He guaranteed that no matter how many people did or did not sign up for the tour there would still be a tour and that the tour would start promptly at 9:15am, it did. Morgan was a good hostess and kind conversationalist keeping my wife entertained while I ran crazy around the boat taking photos. We saw whales, eagles and maybe a lazy seal, but it could have been a log. There were snacks and beverages on offer, but I was too busy taking photos to try any. Jesse was right, it was a beautiful day and we were lucky enough to see whales, eagles and the beauty of Alaska from a boat. Thank you, Jesse & Morgan, for the memorable boat tour.

Our family had a great time and enjoyed our boat experience! The drinks and snacks on board were much appreciated.

Weren't able to see whales while on this boat trip but we got super close to seals and saw a couple eagles! Even saw one dive for a fish. Disappointed about no whales but that was out of everybody's control! Thankful for amazing guides that were able to share about the town, wildlife, ocean, and more.

AMAZING TOUR

Took the tour and had so much fun with my parents and other siblings! We saw multiple whales as promised! Took multiple photos of the huge eagles and when we get home my mom said she’d hang it. Had a ton of fun and will tell all the kids at school and they will be jelly. Highly recommended for everyone!

Jesse and Melanie made this trip so much fun. We loved getting to see the amazing scenery, beautiful bald eagles and majestic whales. This was an awesome tour, got out on the alaskan water on a nice day and saw a big pod of whales immediately, big boat with lots of room, drinks and snacks included on the cruise, went south of town beyond mountain point.

Best wildlife tour in Ketchikan!

Jesse and Kaylee were amazing guides. Kaylee identified a bubble ring and said the whale would be coming up to eat and it did!!! They were excited to show us all the wildlife and they delivered. Eagles and whales and seals oh my! Bathroom, snacks and hot chocolate and a heated cabin. We were in heaven. Highly recommend this tour.

'Captain Jesse' worked very hard to ensure we witnessed what was available - one humpback whale, eagles and a black bear with cubs. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Boat ride was about 60-75 minutes to get to the whale sighting area. Shame that more whales were not around, but that's the risk with wildlife!

This experience was a huge disappointment for our family group of 10. The 4 kids had been looking forward to seeing whales or wildlife. We saw not one thing. After searching and not finding any whales, we didn’t even attempt to search for wildlife. There was no commentary on the boat, so we had no idea if there was anything to look at! Weather was not ideal this day. We should have been offered a free cancellation if they knew this was going to be a bust. The group ahead of us saw nothing, either. But, the captain tried to tell us that there was one whale spotted earlier. The other employee on the boat told us a different story. For the amount of money we paid for this, I would NOT recommend this excursion.

Hello Ann, I’m very sorry you didn’t get to see any whales on your tour. We do try our best to catch up with them the best we can. Yes they were out early in the morning that day but as you should know, whales are a wild creature and have habits that no one can control. I do wish you would have reached out to us so we could have issued a possible partial refund. But you decided to give us a review instead. I tell all passengers the same thing as do all whale watching tour companies, we do not guarantee whales or wildlife. Best of luck

Excellent boat and service provided during our tour. We enjoyed seeing the humpback whale. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Boat ride was about 60-75 minutes to get to the whale sighting area.

Our favorite part of the excursion was seeing the eagles and the whales. Both crew members went above and beyond our expectations. Thank you!!!

The people running the tour were nice but no whales or bears on this land and sea tour. Started 30 min. late. No time to use the lunch vouchers provided. Very cold and rainy, should have been cancelled by the company and refunded. There were about 20 people on the tour. The boat seats about 10 people inside. You cannot see anything at all from inside the boat. The widows continuously for up. The outside people were soaked and freezing because the rain comes in all around. No blankets offered. The land tour was just a drive up the highway where the guide says, "that's where the totem poles are" etc. but you don't go see them, just keep driving. We drove to a creek along the highway where sometimes there happens to be a bear, not this time. Very expensive, miserable rise in a boat and van. Wouldn't recommend. Does not seem to be any guanatee or refund if you don't see any wildlife.

Like all wildlife, they are wild. We do not control them. If they decide that participate time to sleep or find food elsewhere, there is nothing I can do about that. We do very well in seeing whales and beats here in Ketchikan. Unfortunately they did not accommodate us this tour. If you would have called and discussed a particular refund we could have worked something out. But since you have spoke your mind, we will leave it at that.

Had a great tour with Misty she was so friendly and knowledgeable. Loved hearing about her connection to her tribe and especially enjoyed hearing about tribal medicine and the different kinds of plants that can be used for health and foraging. Great variety of Ketchikan highlights seen. Highly recommended, thanks guys!

Just returned from our 6th Alaskan cruise. We typically get a whale watching tour in when in Juneau, and we did again this year, but we were looking for something to do in Ketchikan this trip and found this whale watching tour. To be honest, never knew they did whales out of Ketchikan, so we were not sure what to expect. What a pleasant surprise! 🐳 The crew, captain Jesse and deckhand Patrick, greeted us and were very hands on, accommodating. They were local, knowledgeable and very friendly! The boat was immaculate and very comfortable. We were on the hunt for humpback whales, as we have only seen them here in Alaska. It was a beautiful day and as we sped out towards open water, we spotted some seals and later, we were treated to a group of hungry eagles 🦅, very cool, such beautiful birds! Our quest for humpbacks was quiet, though. As the end of the tour approached, we were suddenly surprised by a pod of six orcas, that popped up near us, two very large males, a couple females, a gramma with a floppy dorsal and a young calf! They swam near us, playing, splashing and even, not one, but two beautiful spy hops! We quickly understood why our search for humpbacks had been so quiet, with these predators in the vicinity! We have been on many, many whale watching tours, and this one ranks up there with the best! I urge anyone that’s in the Ketchikan area, check this company out for their tours!

All I can say is wow!!!! Instead of booking excursion through the cruise liner we booked ahead through TripAdvisor. What an awesome experience. Followed a couple of humpback whales, saw seals, and an eagle coming in hot for fresh catch. The crew is fantastic, had bathroom accommodations and snacks and drinks. Highly recommend

Go on this fabulous whale watching excursion

This whale watch was amazing --- Small boat run by Captain Jesse and his wife Melanie. Jesse had several choices of locations for this excursion and he made the absolutely best choice. We saw humppback whales and even resident killer whales, as well as other wildlife. We watched the whales bubble feeding while Melanie explained the process to us. Both Jesse and Melanie were very well versed on every aspect of Alaskan wildliife. They provided snacks, warm drinks, binoculars, blankets and a warming room. The meeting location was at the main office on the pier and was easily located after departing our ship. I highly recommed this excusion.

Great experience; would recommend! Booked through Viator; joined during a cruise ship stop; brought two small kids (3-5 yo). Saw orcas, eagles, seals, and leopard seals. They had great snacks and hot chocolate as well as binoculars and blankets for us to use.

Very nice and professional team. We went out twice to hopefully catch the humpback, but the orcas were out instead. The seal rock was definitely the highlight. Will be booking again next visit.

Book with confidence. The tour was great. We were at port with a cruise ship and Captain Jesse was very mindful of getting us back on time. We saw jumping salmon, otters, ducks, beautiful scenery, sea planes, and a pod of humpback whales. The whales were close and spectacular. We watched them bubble feed, swim all around us, and one breached a few times. Jesse and Evan were extremely welcoming and informative, both giving cool tidbits of info during the entire tour. They provided drinks and snacks and had binoculars and blankets available if desired.

We met Evan at the Rain Gauge and walked to the end of the pier where our tour boat was waiting for us. Captain Jesse was amazing, very knowledgeable about feeding patterns of humpback whales and led us right to three different solo whales nearby. He explained the "bubble feeding" technique that allowed him to predict where the whale would surface, and he was quite accurate. We also saw a family of seals resting on a group of small islands. Finally, he took us to a bald eagle nest where we saw a mother eagle with her offspring and father eagle a bit further away looking for fish to catch. All in all, it was a very fun with some amazing wildlife experiences!

The captain and deckhand were great. While we didn’t see any whales the captain knew where to take us to see eagles and sea lions. The boat was comfortable. We had a nice time

Great tour in Ketchikan

It was a wonderful way to spend our last day in Alaska. From start to finish, the tour was amazing. Our pickup courtesy of Tyson was excellent as he provided helpful interesting facts about the city and brought us to the boat dock. From there we were greeted by Captain Jesse who was very knowledgeable about the area and located wildlife such as eagles, seals and located the humpback whale to top off the tour. The boat was comfortable, had some delicious snacks and drinks. In addition, Kayleigh provided assistance and ensured all of us had our needs met. The tour was awesome, would love to do this tour again if given the chance. Thank you to Jesse and the crew for an amazing experience!

Captain Jess and Kaylee were excellent. Had trouble finding whales but he kept going until we found one. Nice trip. Easy to book and enjoy. Recommend

Everything was spot on, from Melanie's pick up at our NCL ship and transfer into town to the warmth and enthusiasm shown throughout the outing by Jesse and Kaylee. It's a great family business, and the attention to detail was terrific. So many items to make the outing more pleasant and comfortable- coffee/tea, snacks, blankets (which we didn't need), binoculars. Jesse and Kaylee provided many details about the area and what we might see. It would have been a very good experience without seeing wildlife, but did we ever see wildlife!! The highlight was orcas, many groups in many different locations. I really didn't take many pictures, as I was simply in awe the whole time.Jesse is well connected by radio, and he was in constant touch with at least 15 other vessels to ensure that we saw whatever was out there. Both Jesse and Kaylee seemed just as excited as we were to spot and observe the many orcas, seals, whales, and eagles. I could not recommend this outing more highly, thanks to all at Eagle One for the unforgettable experience.

I saw the great reviews and really wanted to support a local, family business. While Kaylee and Jesse were very kind and personable, we didn’t see any whales. It was disappointing. I know you can’t control wildlife but he just said something like “Well, I drove around a lot.” Then the land portion was even more disappointing. We went out to Herring Cove but no bears. The driver said it was high tide and the bears don’t go out at high tide. I feel like offering a tour when you know they won’t be there is in bad faith. We drove to a waterfall, then back to Herring Cove, but it was only 20 minutes later and still high tide. All of us just got out at Creek Street and didn’t continue the tour. It was an incredible waste of time and money. Sadly, I can’t recommend this company.

I’m so glad you said that we can’t control wildlife and we appreciate that so much. We do really hope to catch Whales and Bears on all our tours. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee them and we always try to extend each tour or add additional stops in hopes to see them. I’m sure you understand that tides and tour times don’t always work on the same schedule. We do see quite a lot of bears and whales and our averages are higher than most companies in Ketchikan. Climb aboard the "Eagle One", an intimate vessel for Alaskan adventurers. This tour is all about taking in the sights, sounds, and seas of beautiful Ketchikan. Embark on a scenic wildlife viewing adventure while soaking in the natural wonders of Southeast Alaska. Your crew will make sure you have every opportunity to capture all Ketchikan has to offer. Make sure your cameras are ready as you keep a lookout for Humpback Whales, Orcas (Killer Whales), Seals, Sea Lions, Eagles, and Salmon "Jumpers" while making your way out of town. Also included complimentary non-alcoholic beverages and pre-packaged snacks. This tour has minimal walking, with seating for everyone. Ketchikan has an average annual rainfall of between 140 and 160 inches per year. Please note that this excursion operates in most weather conditions. It is recommended you wear weather-appropriate attire (layered clothing and comfortable shoes). Help yourself to complimentary drinks and snacks. For drinks, you will be offered coffee, tea, hot chocolate, flavored soda water, and bottled water. Snacks will range from fresh pastries, cookies, crackers, assorted chips, animal crackers, and goldfish for children. If you are feeling cold, blankets are available upon request. Enjoy views from both outside and inside the vessel. The vessel also has a bathroom onboard.

Superb small group tour. They stopped the engines a respectful distance from a Humpback and we had the most amazing experience with "our" whale. Hot chocolate and knowledgeable crew made the day even better.

Very pleasant adventure. They brought us to where the whales were.

The captain and deckhand were great. While we didn’t see any whales the captain knew where to take us to see eagles and sea lions. The boat was comfortable. We had a nice time

My wife, daughter, and son-inlaw took a trip with captain Jesse, and Melanie. What a first class operation! We saw the orcas, eagles, seals, and some spectacular views. Very cool staff and operation set up. We own a tourist operation in NM as well and they upheld and succeeded the expectation we expect from our company! It's a must do adventure if your in Ketchikan. Captain Jesse and Evan were so much fun. And the trip did not disappoint. We saw a pod of orcas, jumping salmon, a bald eagle, a bald eagle nest with fledgling, and seals The boat is just the right size for everyone to seel

Awesome value for money. I went orca watching with my two boys. Captain Jesse knew where to find them. We found two pods of around 15 killer whales total. Grabbed some awesome shots. Deckhand Evan supplied complimentary coffee, water and danishes. Saw a bald eagles nest. Watched seals basking on the rocks. 2.5 hours of awesomee value

I had an amazing experience with Tyson during the City Highlights Totem Parks and Sightseeing tour in Alaska. He was punctual, ensuring that we made the most of our time exploring the beautiful sights. Tyson's knowledge and enthusiasm about the area added depth to the tour, making it both educational and enjoyable. I highly recommend Tyson for anyone looking to have a fantastic and well-paced tour experience!

The crew was nice, the boat was pleasant and there were snacks, drinks, blankets and binoculars to use but we ended up being in the 10% that pays $190 and doesn't see any whales. I don't blame them, they can't control that, but it still sucks.

Hello and welcome to my world of trying to please everyone with unpredictable wildlife. We sure wish we could guarantee whales on every trip but unfortunately we cannot. Even the whales around Juneau are unaware that they are supposed to stay in one spot the entire 5 month tourist season. We do try our best to communicate with many other tour operators around our area. I can say for curtain, we are the best at getting whales in Ketchikan. But!!! At times they are just out of reach and they won’t comply with us. We do appreciate your review as it does show we are very happy to accommodate our guests.

Welcome to Ketchikan’s one-of-a kind 4/4.5-hour long Land and Sea tour package.

Climb aboard the “Eagle One” , our intimate vessel while we embark on a scenic wildlife viewing adventure. Soak in the wonders of Alaska on this excursion. Our crew and drivers will make sure you have every opportunity to capture all Ketchikan has to offer. Make sure your cameras are ready as you keep a lookout for Humpback Whales, Orcas (Killer Whales), Seals, Sea Lions, Eagles and Salmon “Jumpers” while making our way out of town. Also included, complimentary non-alcoholic beverages and pre-packaged snacks. Yes, there is a bathroom onboard!!

Starting the ground portion of the tour in one of our spacious 13 passenger vans. We will depart for Herring Cove to view Black Bears foraging for their favorite “Wild Alaskan Salmon” that are returning from the ocean to the Herring Cove creek to spawn. This area always has an abundance of Bald Eagles hunting for salmon as well. After Bear viewing in Herring Cove, we will jump in the van and head for the Saxman Totem Park. The park has the largest collection of standing Totems in the world. The history and craftsmanship will delight anyone of all ages.

While on the way back into Ketchikan. We will stop at Creek Street for a short walk on the boardwalk that runs along the creek. Creek Street offers history, charm, and shops that you might get lost in. The creek has a large salmon return in the summer months. You can watch the fish swim up the river to the fish ladder while you make your way along the boardwalk. After we make our way back to the van, we will head north of town to the Totem State Park that showcases more authentic Alaskan carved totems. We could also visit Refuge Cove and walk along the wooded trail that follows the beach if requested by our passengers. We are happy to make the ground tour whatever you would like it to be. You can customize your time so you can experience what you want, like hiking along beaches, lake treks and hitting the local trails.

Please note that Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed. We do our best to locate a variety of wildlife, but they are wild creatures living in their natural habitat and are not under our control.

Our tour will have a few stops that require walking, entering and exiting the van. We do not recommend it if you have issues with walking or have a need for a wheelchair.

This tour will operate in most weather conditions. We recommend you wear weather appropriate layered clothing and comfortable walking shoes. Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed but are frequent.
