Cork Christmas Market 2023: Dates + What To Expect

So, the usual Cork Christmas Market 2023 (aka Glow Cork) isn’t going to be a thing this year.

Arguably one of the most popular Irish Christmas markets , Glow always added an extra layer of festive buzz to the already lively city of Cork.

However, this year things are changing with the arrival of what is being called ‘Corkmas’ and there’s plenty to look forward to!

Below, you’ll find several different Christmas markets in Cork that  are  taking place this year. Dive on in!

The different Cork Christmas Markets 2023

Now that Glow Cork is no longer a thing, what can you expect from the festive period in the Rebel County?

Quite a bit, as it happens! Below, you’ll find a mix of markets and fairs that are taking place in the city and beyond.

1. The new Cork Christmas Market (that is no longer a market…)

Cork at Christmas

It seems like what was previously the Cork Christmas Market (Glow), which has been on the go for several years, is to be replaced by a light show .

According to organisers, it’s ‘an all-new magical immersive light experience in the public plaza that will have a unique appeal for all ages’ .

Solas (From Nov 18th)

It sounds like it’s ‘Solas’ that’s set to replace what used to be Glow Cork . According to the organisers, this will shine ‘a new light on winter in the city’.

From the pictures online, which show a load of orbs set up around Emmet Place , it looks fairly underwhelming, but hopefully that isn’t the case.

UPDATE: Judging from the  many  comments on the Corkmas Facebook page, Solas isn’t going down overly well…

The Ferris Wheel (Nov 24th – Jan 7th)

You’ll find the main landmark at the Cork Christmas markets on the Grand Parade. The 32m panoramic wheel is hard to miss and it offers views out over the city and beyond.

The vintage Carousel will also be back. Prices for the wheel are €4 for adults and €3.50 for kids.

Events in the city

Although the Cork Christmas Market 2023 won’t be a thing, there are some great events lined up around the city:

  • The Lord Mayor’s Gala Christmas Concert : 2nd December
  • Cantate Choir at St Peter’s : 20th December
  • Cork Opera House Christmas Concert : 18th + 19th December
  • St Fin Barre’s Cathedral Choir : 9th + 16th December
  • RDJ Santa Cycle : 3rd December

2. The Marina Market

It’s looking like the Marina Market will now be the ‘main’ Cork Christmas Market going forward.

Taking place in the Marina Market on Center Park Road (just off Kennedy Quay), there’s plenty taking place here from Friday the 24th of November.

Santa’s magical market

If you’re looking for Christmas markets in Cork with plenty of stuff for kids , you’ve found it. Kids can meet Santa in his house, visit the South Pole Post Office and meet the elves .

They can also climb aboard the Polar Express and explore the magical woods .

Ice skating

And if that wasn’t enough, booking is also open for the launch of the brand-new Cork City On Ice down the Marina.

The new Cork City On Ice rink is by the same people behind the hugely popular Dundrum on Ice in Dublin and the Marina crew hope it will bring the ‘ultimate skating’ experience to the city.

Pop-up movie club

There’s also a pop-up movie club that’s kicking off on December 6th and running until December 20th.

They’ll show a mix of festive flicks, from Home Alone to The Holiday.

3. Blackpool Community Christmas Market

Blackpool Community Christmas Market

Taking place on December 8th at the Plaza at Blackpool Church, this outdoor market will run from 10:00 – 14:00 .

Now, while it won’t be a Bavarian-style market, you can expect stalls, Christmas carols and plenty of bits and bobs on sale.

Blackpool Library and other local businesses will have stalls at this Cork Christmas market and The Lord Mayor will attend at 11am to greet all attendees.

4. Benchspace Christmas Market

Benchspace Christmas Market

Taking place at unit B1B at the Marina Commercial Park Centre on Park Road, this is Benchspace’s first market.

It’ll run on December 8th, from 16:00 – 21:00 and December 9th, from 11:00 – 21:00.

Expect unique jewellery , wonderful woodwork projects, handcrafted art and plenty more.

An Irish Christmas wouldn’t be 100% authentic without the Cork Christmas Market, held every year in Cork city center! It’s a chance to discover the city from a whole new angle, with its lights, its Christmas decorations and, of course, its festive market!

Visit the Cork Christmas Market

A magical family christmas market: the longest in ireland.

Every year, the Cork Christmas Market is a much-anticipated event for locals and travellers alike, who come to celebrate Christmas in Ireland ! And the city doesn’t take the matter lightly: the market lasts from November to January, making it Ireland’s longest running market!

Finally, the event is held at two separate venues:

  • on Grand Parade (Cork’s main thoroughfare)
  • and in Bishop Lucey Park (a city park literally transformed for the occasion).

The event on Grand Parade :

On Grand Parade, the event is simply magical. With its chalets and music, the market is a festival of smells and colors that will take you back to your childhood!

And the program is enchanting: you’ll find a host of artisan chalets selling everything from Christmas-related items (decorations, soaps, artworks, clothes, handmade gifts… etc.) to food (including savory dishes, cinnamon cakes, Christmas specialties, chocolates and mulled wine).

There’s also a Ferris wheel, so don’t hesitate to buy a ticket and hop on for a magical ride overlooking the city of Cork !

For the little ones, there’s also a smaller wheel, so they can enjoy the moment too!

A wide range of events are also scheduled for each edition:

  • traditional Christmas carols performed by local artists and groups,
  • a Santa Claus workshop to delight children,
  • a small express train from the North Pole,
  • a merry-go-round for children

The Glow in Bishop Lucey Park

Alongside the Grand Parade market, another complementary event takes place in Bishop Lucey Park, also in Cork city center. It’s called “Glow in Bishop Lucey Park”.

The whole park is transformed into a Christmas wonderland. In 2021, the park was decorated on the theme of “The Night Before Christmas in Old Cork”. Although the theme of 2022 is still unknown, we’ll update this article as soon as we have more information.

In any case, Glow in Bishop Lucey Park is well worth a visit… if only for its ice tunnel, where you can get inside! The park also offers a peek through the windows of Santa’s house.

It’s also possible to visit the old post office (Padaí the letter carrier is at reception, showing children where to post their letters to Santa)!

The city of Cork in Ireland is home to breathtaking landscapes and colorful towns filled with character and personality, although what most people love about the city is its food. The local cuisine is fantastic and draws in foodies from around the globe, but that is not the only reason to visit. No matter what time of year you travel to Cork, you will be greeted with a lovely town and a load of fun things to do.

If you happen to be traveling here in the winter, you should keep an eye out for holiday activities, like the exciting Christmas markets in Cork! Not only do they bring a festive atmosphere to the town but they are also good spots to buy Christmas presents to gift to your loved ones back home. Glow - a Cork Christmas Celebration

Glow is the name of the main Christmas market in the city, and most of the festivities take place in two areas around town. You can expect the festivities to begin in late November and continue until sometime in the first week of January, but you should confirm on their website or Facebook page closer to Christmas time. Most years, the market takes on a different theme, so there is always something new to see every Christmas season.

Cork's Grand Parade is one of the main streets in the city, so there is no surprise that it would be transformed into a market during the holiday season. This is where you can do most of your shopping and you will see vendors set up in cute market stalls selling all sorts of knick-knacks, stocking stuffers and souvenirs. This is also where the big Ferris wheel is found; take a spin to admire the Christmas lights of the market from above! After you are done here, you can head to Bishop Lucey Park to take advantage of the rest of the activities, which include a chilly ice tunnel, a fun medieval village and Santa's house. There is also an Old Post Office where the kids can get their letters to Santa stamped and ready to be sent to the North Pole.

What to do near Glow - a Cork Christmas Celebration

Most years the market also has a merry-go-round, Santa's Workshop and performances by local choirs and bands. If that isn't enough to keep you busy, you can always explore the rest of Bishop Lucey Park which has walking paths, fountains and statues, or you can check the schedule at the Triskel Arts Centre to see if any performances are happening.

Christmas at the Marina Market

For a place filled with festive spirit and good shopping opportunities, head to the Marina Market on Centre Park Road. It should be open for most of the month of December but don't miss your chance to stop by before it closes so you can do your holiday shopping ahead of the big day. It remains open from 8 am to 8 pm, Monday to Sunday.

At the market, you will find around 30 different stalls selling everything from festive treats to artistic creations and handmade items. It is one of the best Christmas markets in Cork for finding gifts made by local artisans, and it is also a space that brings the community together. They even have pop-up cinema showings of your favorite Christmas movies and visits from Santa Claus and his hard-working elves. The Marina Market is dog friendly so bring your furry friend with you.

What to do near Christmas at the Marina Market

Looking for some quality family fun after going to the market? We suggest checking out The Circus Factory which puts on exciting shows filled with live entertainment, and afterward, you will get the chance to try out the circus equipment yourself.

Mardyke Christmas Market

This holiday season, the Mardyke Christmas Market will be taking over the area around the Cork County Cricket Club, and it really goes all out for the event. The opening dates have not been officially announced, but in previous years it has been held between mid November and late December and closing a few days before Christmas Eve.

Aside from shops, on site you will also find food trucks and a marquee where visitors can sit to eat the delicious treats. The man in red makes an appearance at Santa's Grotto and if you bring a camera you can take a festive picture posing next to Santa's Sleigh. There are also crafts and real Christmas trees for sale.

What to do near Mardyke Christmas Market

The Mardyke Christmas Market is set in a beautiful area of the city right next to Fitzgerald's Park, which has several walking paths, a fountain, sculptures and nicely landscaped areas to explore. This is also where you will find the Cork Public Museum ; go inside and check out the exhibits.

Cork Zero Waste's Christmas Market

When you are shopping for gifts during the Christmas season it is important to be mindful of where the items are coming from and what impact they could have on the environment. If you are interested in sustainability, then this market is for you. It only happens for a day at the beginning of December, so mark the dates on your calendar.

If you get the chance to stop by Nano Nagle Place you will find this sustainable Christmas market. Lots of eco-friendly businesses partner up to give you environmentally-conscious shopping opportunities accompanied by live music, so it is a fun spot to visit even if you don't buy anything.

What to do near Cork Zero Waste's Christmas Market

Just a few streets away from the Zero Waste market is the Red Abbey Tower . It is an interesting local landmark that dates back all the way to medieval times; go see it in person while you are nearby.

The Best Christmas Markets in Cork

If you find yourself in Cork during the Christmas season then it is essential that you visit some of the festive Christmas markets. The food stalls, shops and holiday activities are sure to keep you occupied, but if you fancy even more Christmas spirit you can stop by some of the other markets found in nearby cities.

There is the Galway Christmas Market in Eyre Square or the Wicklow Christmas Market located on the Abbey Grounds. If you are taking a tour around all of Ireland you should visit Dublin, which also takes on a festive atmosphere.

Cork's Christmas Market Trail 2023: Festive Markets around the city & county

I t's that time of year again - sleigh bells are ringing across the Rebel County as fairs and festive markets take shape for the festivities of Christmas 2023.

Cork is always a great place to be for the winter season with endless lists of brilliant events across Cork for adults and smallies to enjoy the festive magic.

We've put together a list of twelve amazing markets and fairs for Christmas 2023 below. Feel free to follow our interactive map to plan out all your merry activities in the run-up to the big day.

Christmas at the Marina Market

One of Cork's most loved markets is back with a range of festive events this year. Starting on Friday November 24, they'll be opening their Christmas stalls every weekend until the new year.

Organisers have also opened up their ice-skating rink today, which you can book all the way up until January 7 2024. The new Cork City On Ice venue is run by the same people behind the hugely popular Dundrum on Ice in Dublin.

Santa's Magical Market experience is returning this year too, and getting a complete revamp for 2023. It offers rides on the Polar Express, magic tunnels and more new attractions which the Marina crew say will make this year "the best Christmas ever" for Cork.

They are also bringing back their Elf Toy Workshop, The Grotto, Ms. Claus bakery, and the South Pole Post Office - so there's loads of festive flair for the whole family.

Solas - Cork Christmas Market, Emmet Place

Last year the annual GLOW event turned Bishop Lucey Park into a glowing Christmas realm to celebrate the twelve days of Christmas, complete with drummers, dancers, and hoola-hoopers.

Due to refurbishment works, the festival sadly won't be able to run this holiday season - but the Solas event at Emmet Place promises to be just as magical.

It all kicks off on Saturday November 18 and will be installed outside the Crawford Art Gallery. More details should be revealed later in the week on the Cork City Council's website and social media.

Even though GLOW isn't going ahead though, thankfully the traditional 30-metre Ferris wheel is due to reappear on Grand Parade in the usual spot.

Sullivan's Quay Christmas Craft Market

Can't beat a lovely craft market raising money for a great cause. Head on down to The Next Step building on Sullivan's Quay (based at the old Gael-Taca building) for a jolly and festive fundraiser on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 of November, from 11am to 5pm.

You'll find stalls loaded with homemade treats, jewellery, scented candles and more - a great place to pick out a few gifts for Christmas.

Entry is free, and the event is being held in support of Cork mental health services.

A Real Cork Christmas Market At The Pavilion

The Pavilion Garden Centre is running its wonderfully festive

Christmas market running every Saturday and Sunday from now until the 17th of December.

This market brings together the best of what Cork has to offer including live music performances, dozens of stalls including some of Cork’s favourite food vendors and lots of mulled wine and local designers and small businesses all packed full of Christmas gift ideas and treats for the whole family.

The Pavilion in Ballygarven is located just a few minutes from Cork Airport and is renowned for its selection of the finest quality gardening goods, high-quality furniture, and the stunning Glasshouse restaurant where market-goers will be able to sit back and relax.

Free parking on-site with loads to see. Get more info here.

Glounthaune Christmas Craft Fair

The Glounthaune Community Association (GCA) are putting on their cosy festive market for the third year in a row. It takes place in the village's Community Centre on December 2nd, from 11-5pm.

This year they'll be hosting over 20 stalls from local producers and crafters selling a huge selection of goods. They'll also have a festive photo station - helping you make some merry memories for your visit with family or friends.

Organiser Kate Cuddy said: “We really wanted to promote the idea of shopping locally and more sustainably this Christmas. There are so many talented craftspeople in our community, who are struggling in this climate to find an outlet for their work.

"So, let’s reduce our carbon footprint by giving the multinational online and high-street vendors and their delivery drivers a break!"

You can find more info on the GCA website here.

Cobh's Early Bird Christmas Arts & Craft Fair

Grab yourself a mince pie and a steaming cup of hot chocolate at the annual Christmas Arts and Crafts Fair at the Cobh Community Centre.

The event will be held on Saturday November 19 from 10am – 6pm. More details to follow on the organiser's Facebook page here.

Ballymaloe Craft Fair

Catch over 180 different exhibitors and stallholders at the Craft Fair in the gorgeous Ballymaloe Grainstore this month. Free shuttle buses attending Midleton and Ballycotton will be travelling to and from the event - making it easier than ever to check out the wide range of locally produced goodies on offer.

The event runs across two weekends in November - from the 17th to the 19th, and from the 24th to the 26th. You can see a full list of all the vendors making an appearance on their website here.

Featuring live entertainment and no shortage of top grub and sweet treats, you can't go too far wrong coming here for a fab family day out this month.

Entrance is €8 per person and all children under 12 go free. Tickets are available at the entrance only.

Charleville Indoor Christmas Market

Head on down to the lovely Charleville Park Hotel on Sunday December 3 for a cosy craft market and some family-friendly fun.

Entry is free, and more updates will be posted closer to the event. You can keep up to date on the organiser's Facebook page here.

Christmas Craft Fair at Farran Woods

Organised by the owner of the Perked Up Coffee food truck Aoife Buckley Barry, this event is a wonderful chance to get away from the city and enjoy the countryside for a while.

The market promises to be a great day out for the whole family - featuring live music, entertainment, plenty of craft and food stalls and a festive treasure hunt to keep the smallies busy!

It takes place on the weekend of the 9th and 10th of December, from 10am-4pm. You can find more details here.

Midleton Christmas Fair

Midleton town has been through a lot in recent weeks, with many homes and businesses still recovering from the Storm Babet flash floods in mid-October.

But locals are more than ready to kick off this year's fair to bring some well-needed Christmas spirit and festive fun to East Cork. With craft and food stalls, live entertainment and merries for all to enjoy, there are plenty of reasons to head over to Midleton and help spread the festive cheer.

The main activities will take place on Sunday 19 November from 12pm to 8pm, including the town's official lights switch-on. Don't miss this year's Christmas trail either - it's a great way to explore and see all the best decorations on display.

Templebreedy Christmas Fayre

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Crosshaven as the town's annual fayre returns for another year of festive family fun.

Local traders will be setting up shop at the Crosshaven Community Centre on Saturday November 25 from 1pm - 5pm - selling everything from Christmas trees and handcrafted ornaments to country produce and freshly baked festive cakes.

You can keep on top of the latest updates on the organisers' Facebook page here.

The Taste of Cork and Waterford Christmas Market

This annual event is back once again with a brand new venue at the gorgeous Ballyvolane House. From pet portraits to novelty socks, there's a huge range of gifts and goodies on offer - including a Santa experience, food trucks and a Christmas Raffle.

It's highly advised you book your chance to see Santa soon however as spaces are limited. Each children’s ticket includes a gift and photo with the man himself, and all adult tickets include free entry to the raffle and the Christmas Market.

Children can enter the Christmas Market free of charge. For more information on prices, you can check out the organiser's website here.

To get a sneak peek at many vendors in attendance this year, head on over to the event's Facebook page here.

Mitchelstown Christmas Market

There'll be an incredible selection of local stalls selling handmade crafts, gifts and some mouth-watering grub in the St George's Art and Heritage Centre.

The market is running on November 25 and 26 from 11am-4pm. You can check out the lineup of stalls for this year on the event's Facebook page here.

Christmas Markets Ireland 2023: Irish Winter Festivals

Last Updated: 22 October 2023 No Comments

In Ireland, the air brims with genuine warmth and cheer as the holidays approach. The Christmas markets in Ireland are diverse and unique in each city and town.

You’ll find a unique blend of rich traditions, vibrant culture, and friendly faces, making Ireland a distinct and welcoming winter experience.

In this article, I share tips for visiting the best Christmas markets scattered throughout the country, ensuring you’re well-prepared with all the necessary information, such as the 2023 dates and locations.

Christmas Markets Ireland 2023

In Ireland, you have plenty of unique Christmas events to choose from. The historic city of Dublin holds markets full of artisanal crafts and gourmet food, reflecting the city’s rich cultural heritage and contemporary vibrancy.

On the cobbled streets of Galway, the market gives you a taste of the city’s bohemian spirit with eclectic stalls and international flavours.

In smaller towns like Killarney, the Christmas markets are a cosy affair with a strong emphasis on local crafts and delicacies, symbolising the community’s tight-knit bond and love for traditional crafts.

With its scenic allure, Cork adds a backdrop of natural beauty to its holiday market, blending modernity with rich Irish tradition.

The following list highlights the best places to visit for the Christmas markets.

Christmas at the Castle – In the heart of Dublin, Dublin Castle unfurls its Christmas at the Castle event, a highlight on the city’s holiday calendar.

This historic landmark morphs into a bustling hub of holiday festivities, housing over 30 traditional alpine-style stalls within its significant grounds.

Navigating through the stalls, you can come across a diverse array of items, from handcrafted decorations to unique gifts, and indulge in classic gastronomic delights such as mulled wine, roasted chestnuts, and gingerbread cookies.

Christmas at the Castle ensures a vibrant display of Irish design, as you can shop for Irish handcrafts and make purchases directly from local artists, designers, and makers.

The event celebrates crafts and the harmonies of local music talent. Visitors can enjoy evening music performances in a Spiegel-style tent, adding to the warm and inviting atmosphere.

The inclusion of the indoor Castle Hall craft market during two weekends in December further accentuates the event, enabling a deeper engagement with the epitome of Irish design and craft.

To ensure your trip is as smooth as possible, read my guide to Dublin Christmas Market , which provides essential details such as dates and opening times. Additionally, check out my hotels near Dublin Christmas Market guide, where you can explore various hotel options, conveniently located and suitable for every budget, to enhance your festive visit to Dublin.

Galway Christmas Market – Now in its thirteenth year, this iconic market continues to draw hundreds of thousands, with over 450,000 visitors last year. Set in the heart of Galway in Eyre Square for an extended period in 2023

As you wander among more than 50 wooden chalets, you’ll find a diverse assortment of goods, from delicious foods such as bratwurst and French pastries to artisanal gifts from local and European traders.

Enjoy the sight of the city adorned with enchanted light gardens, creating a perfect backdrop for capturing your Christmas market moments.

Children’s laughter fills the air with the return of the amusement rides, including a 32-metre high Big Wheel, a traditional Carousel, and the much-loved Santa’s Grotto, run by local charities.

Live performances add to the atmosphere, featuring various artists and school choirs.

For a warming end to your market exploration, step into the famous Bier Keller, open daily, where a variety of drinks, including mulled wines and hot toddies, await to warm your spirits.

Read my guide to the Galway Christmas Market for all the practical information, including dates and opening times.

Glow Cork – Cork becomes a bustling hub starting late November, with the much-loved Glow Cork at Christmas, where you can explore numerous stalls showcasing meticulously handcrafted goods perfect for gifts.

On the weekends leading up to Christmas, enjoy a visual spectacle as stories come alive with drummers, dancers, and delightful characters, featuring performances from local and international artists and street entertainers.

Take a spin on the Big Wheel, giving you a panoramic view of the vibrant city, available until the first week of January.

You’ll find more than 100 chalets filled with an assortment of unique holiday gifts and local and international delicacies, satisfying various tastes and preferences.

Many culinary offerings at the market come from the esteemed nearby St. George’s Market, allowing you to relish the local flavours of Belfast.

Enjoy the myriad culinary delights, from hot glühwein and hog roast to exquisite Belgian chocolates and a variety of continental meats, all contributing to the joyful Christmas ambience.

In 2023, you’ll notice its expansion, with the market now presenting an even larger area adorned with additional festive lights and trees.

A highlight is the newly introduced Santa Express, a delightful train journey to the North Pole complete with a tunnel of lights, enhancing the magical experience for young visitors.

Even with these exciting additions, entry remains free, ensuring accessibility for everyone eager to get into the holiday spirit.

Irish Christmas Markets

Beyond the best-known markets, numerous other Irish Christmas Markets are also worth your time and visit.

While they may not make my personal best list, these additional markets still provide ample opportunity for enjoyment and exploration, offering a range of goods, food, and festivities.

Limerick Christmas Market – Experience the transformation of the historic Milk Market in Limerick into a hub of holiday activity and shopping in December. You can explore a diverse range of stalls offering artisan food and handmade crafts, contributing to the city’s vibrant atmosphere. Killarney Christmas Market – This market stands out with a diverse blend of crafts, food, and entertainment, marking it as a sought-after destination for holiday revellers, both tourists and locals alike. Add to the excitement with Santa’s favourite grotto at Deenagh Lodge, located in the Killarney National Park, where Santa and his helpers take part in the magical parade every Saturday throughout the Christmas in Killarney festival. This event not only brightens the holiday season but also significantly contributes to the local economy, highlighting the beauty of Killarney.

Irish Craft Beers : Discover the world of Irish craft beers, which stand out with their rich, full-bodied flavours and distinctive brewing styles, reflecting the local taste and the crafters’ passion.

Claddagh Ring : As a symbol of love, loyalty, and friendship, the Claddagh ring makes for a meaningful gift, reflecting the Irish spirit and rich cultural heritage in its distinctive design.

Responsible Travel in Ireland

Here’s a concise guide to help you embark on a sustainable Christmas adventure in Ireland.

Eco-Friendly Accommodations : Opt for hotels committed to environmental sustainability, particularly those harnessing renewable energy. Ireland’s green accommodations are increasingly embracing wind and solar energy, making it easy for you to make a responsible choice while enjoying all the comforts of a holiday stay.

Food Waste : When relishing Irish delicacies at Christmas markets or restaurants, order mindfully to avoid food wastage. Many Irish eateries are now focusing on locally sourced and organic ingredients, enhancing the sustainability of your dining experience.

Ethical Consumption : Be mindful in your shopping, prioritising quality over quantity, and opt for locally crafted goods, such as traditional Irish ceramics or handmade woollen items. These choices support local artisans and minimise the environmental footprint of your purchases.

Sustainable Diets : Incorporate more plant-based foods into your meals. Ireland’s rich agricultural landscape produces a wide array of fresh, locally-grown fruits and vegetables, making choosing a sustainable, nutritious diet convenient during your stay.

Sustainable Transport : Navigate the scenic landscapes of Ireland using the extensive network of trains and buses. Explore cities like Dublin and Cork by walking or cycling, allowing you to experience the vibrant Irish culture up close while minimising your environmental impact.

Incorporating these thoughtful strategies into your Irish Christmas holiday contributes meaningfully to preserving the beautiful and historic landscapes that make Ireland such an extraordinary destination.

Absolutely, Ireland is home to various Christmas markets, with many towns and cities, including Dublin, Cork, and Galway, hosting their own events filled with holiday cheer, crafts, and food.

Galway Christmas Market is widely regarded as the largest in Ireland, drawing numerous visitors for its expansive array of stalls, food vendors, and entertainment.

The Ireland Christmas Market 2023 dates are set from around the 24th November to 24th December. Be sure to mark your calendars to experience the vibrant atmosphere and unique offerings.

Irish winters are generally mild, with temperatures averaging around 4–7°C. Packing warm layers and a waterproof jacket is wise, as rain is not uncommon during this season, ensuring you remain comfortable while exploring the picturesque landscapes and markets.

There’s a new Christmas market to wander this year and it’s happening in these woods

We love a Christmas market.

There’s something about rambling around the stalls in your cosiest coat, sipping good coffee or hot chocolate as you hunt for gifts for your favourite people, that gives us the warm and fuzzies every year.

Now we’ve had word of a brand new addition to the Cork Christmas Market scene… and the setting couldn’t be more magical.

A small selection of local crafters and artisans will be setting up in Farran Woods at the start of December, offering an opportunity to indulge in a little al fresco retail therapy at the most wonderful time of the year.

Organised by Aoife of Perked Up Coffee, on hand with a hot cup of Lab82 coffee at the forest park a few times a week from 10am, the market will run on Saturday and Sunday, December 3rd and 4th, 2022.

Stallholders have yet to be finalised (watch this space) but it’ll be a picture-perfect day out on a cold, crisp Christmassy day.

Afterwards, you can grab lunch to-go and enjoy it while enjoying the panoramic views of Inniscarra Lake from its southern shore.

For more updates and information about how to take part as a stallholder, follow Perked Up Coffee on Instagram .
