KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs invites unemployed graduates to apply for 24 months Internship Programme 2023.

Duration of Programme

• Twenty-four (24) months

Preference will be given to individuals who are between 18 – 35 years old. The programme is aimed at providing workplace experience to graduates and in-service trainees.

The programme is offered in collaboration with different municipalities, public entities and development agencies.

Shortlisted candidates will be expected to undergo an interview and if successful they will enter into a performance agreement covering the duration of the programme.

The agreement will be between the candidates, the department and the host employer. Graduates and Students who have not been previously employed under the same programme and who have been unemployed for a period of one year or more are invited to apply.

Applications Are Invited From Candidates in the Following Areas:

Graduates and students are encouraged to only apply to municipalities within their residential areas.

Applications must be submitted on the Tourism Graduate Development Programme Placement Form (NOT Z83), this form is obtainable from the link at the end of this article.

The forms may also be obtainable from the participating Tourism Offices listed above. Applicants are requested to CLEARLY quote the Reference Number of the placement they are applying for.

Requirements for Unemployed Tourism Graduates

• State the area and reference number which the candidate is applying for (from the above list)
• The form should be accompanied by a copy of Curriculum Vitae, copy of Matric certificate, copy of a three year degree/diploma in Tourism Management, Travel & Tourism or an appropriate equivalent Tourism & Hospitality qualification,
• Including academic transcripts records, copy of Identity document and proof of residential address obtained from local municipality (ward councilor) or traditional authority.

lease note that no affidavits will be accepted as proof of residence. Shortlisted candidates will be subjected to an interview nearest to their areas of residence.

The successful candidates will be required to sign an internship contract for the duration of the placement.

INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TOURISM GRADUATE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME   2023 – 2025 FINANCIAL YEAR

Duties: Gallery guiding, monitor security in public spaces, provide information about Museum and displays to the to the public and schools and participate in any other related duties of the department.

GRADUATE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME FOR 2022-24

An adequately skilled workforce ensures world class service levels are maintained within the tourism value chain, and also assure an enhanced visitor experience. The Department’s Youth Skill Development Programmes are informed by the broader objectives of the National Tourism Sector Strategy that addresses skills shortages in the tourism sector by capacitating unemployed youth and graduates. The Department is currently implementing various training programmes to enhance and upskill the youth to make a meaningful contribute to the economy of the country. The following can be applied for currently: 1.    FOOD SAFETY ASSURERS SKILLS PROGRAMME The Department of Tourism invites youth from KwaZulu-Natal to apply for the Food Safety Assurers Skills Training Programme. This 12-month programme is targeted at unemployed youth to widen employment opportunities in the hospitality and tourism sector. Persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply. About tourism kwazulu-natal.

The Tourism Kwazulu Natal Internship programme is made available by the Tourism KwaZulu-Natal, a government agency responsible for developing and promoting tourism in KwaZulu-Natal Province. More specifically, the aims and objectives of the agency are:

• Increase share of domestic and international tourists
• Increase tourism spend
• Increase geographic spread
• Foster strategic relationships with neighboring provinces and countries
• Lessen the seasonality trend associated with tourism
• Offer best-in-class tourism experience

The agency is overseen by the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA). Tourism KwaZulu-Natal serves as a vital cog in the province’s economic development. Along with that, it provides direct and indirect employment to many youths.

Tourism Kwazulu Natal runs an internship programme for students who want to gain valuable experience in the tourism industry. After gaining the experience, the students have a higher chance of getting employed within the ever-expanding KwaZulu-Natal tourism industry.

For the academic session 2022-23, candidates who have completed a Degree or a National Diploma are invited to apply for the internship programme. They must have completed their education in one of the following fields of study:

The internship programme will last for a period of one year. They’ll have to work at a designated site in a defined role. During this time, interns are entitled to receive a compensation of R 6083 per month. There are no additional benefits like accommodation or meals unless otherwise specified. All interns will have to make those arrangements on their own. After the completion of the internship programme, all interns will receive a certificate of completion issued by Tourism KwaZulu-Natal.

Who should apply?

To be selected for the internship, you must fulfil the eligibility criteria. These are defined by Tourism KwaZulu-Natal to select the most deserving candidates. Since there are a limited number of bursaries on offer, it cannot award the internship to everyone. Failing to fulfill any of the criteria will lead to the rejection of your application. Therefore, always cross-check before applying.

The eligibility requirements for Tourism Kwazulu Natal Internship programme 2022 are:

• A South African citizen
• Living in the KwaZulu-Natal province
• Have completed a Bachelor’s degree or a three-year National Diploma in one of the fields of study mentioned above
• Have graduated from a tertiary institution that’s accredited and recognised
• In between the age of 18 and 35 at the time of applying
• Currently unemployed
• Have never taken up an internship programme before
• Have a strong academic track record
• Interested in making a career in the tourism industry

Fulfilling all of the requirements, however, doesn’t guarantee selection. Preference is given to those with a stronger academic track record. The decision made by the committee regarding the appointment of interns will be considered final.

How do I apply?

If you’re interested in the Tourism Kwazulu Natal Internship programme, consider applying for it. Go through a short application process and submit the necessary documents.

There are no application forms available for the programme. So you don’t have to complete any paperwork. But you would have to submit the following documents:

• ID documents (certified copies)
• Updated resume (covering your educational details, contact details, and work experience, if any)
• A motivation letter describing why you’re the best candidate for the internship programme
• Copies of all qualifications and academic records (certified copies only)

Scan all the documents and save them in PDF format. Finally, email the documents to [email protected] .

It’s necessary to submit all the documents without fail to avoid rejection. You will get notified regarding the selection within a few days of the closing date.

KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs invites unemployed graduates to apply for 24 months Internship Programme 2023.

Internship Location: KwaZulu-Natal

Internship Closing Date: 17 March 2023 @ 16H00

INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TOURISM GRADUATE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME 2023 – 2025 FINANCIAL YEAR

Duration of Programme is twenty-four (24) months

Preference will be given to individuals who are between 18 – 35 years old. The programme is aimed at providing workplace experience to graduates and in-service trainees.

The programme is offered in collaboration with different municipalities, public entities and development agencies.

Shortlisted candidates will be expected to undergo an interview and if successful they will enter into a performance agreement covering the duration of the programme.

The agreement will be between the candidates, the department and the host employer. Graduates and Students who have not been previously employed under the same programme and who have been unemployed for a period of one year or more are invited to apply.

Applications are invited from candidates in the following areas:

Graduates and students are encouraged to only apply to municipalities within their residential areas.

Applications must be submitted on the Tourism Graduate Development Programme Placement Form (NOT Z83), this form is obtainable from the link at the end of this article.

The forms may also be obtainable from the participating Tourism Offices listed above. Applicants are requested to CLEARLY quote the Reference Number of the placement they are applying for.

REQUIREMENTS FOR UNEMPLOYED TOURISM GRADUATES

State the area and reference number which the candidate is applying for (from the above list), the form should be accompanied by a copy of Curriculum Vitae, copy of Matric certificate, copy of a three year degree/diploma in Tourism Management, Travel & Tourism or an appropriate equivalent Tourism & Hospitality qualification, including academic transcripts records, copy of Identity document and proof of residential address obtained from local municipality (ward councillor) or traditional authority.

lease note that no affidavits will be accepted as proof of residence. Shortlisted candidates will be subjected to an interview nearest to their areas of residence.

The successful candidates will be required to sign an internship contract for the duration of the placement.

Note: Certified copies of Identity Document, Grade 12 Certificate and the highest required qualifications as well as a driver’s licence where necessary, will only be submitted by shortlisted candidates on or before the day of the interview date.
