Mount Dora is a lovely town for a romantic date. The views of Lake Dora from the downtown area will romance your eyes. The quaint streets are lined with unique dining and boutique shops for an extended date before or after you ride. And the constant line-up of festivals will ensure a lively visit no matter what time of year you tour this date destination.

Central Florida Glides offers two tours of the Mount Dora area. The Historic Mount Dora tour packs a punch with an hour full of sights and scenery. Gliders will see the waterfront and marina, Mount Dora Lighthouse, Palm Island Park, and historic Bed and Breakfast locations before making the final trek back to the starting point. Tickets are $49 per person when reserved online or $55 per person for day of sales.

The Dogwood Mountain Tour is available only to those guests who have already completed the Historic Mount Dora tour. The tour is fast-paced and covers rougher terrain through the adventurous trek to the mountain overlook, which includes the shores of Lake Dora and Lake Gertrude. The tour is 60-80 minutes and costs $49 per person.

Port Canaveral

Formerly a space shuttle test operations engineer, Jody Tobin started Space Coast Experience when the shuttle program ended. This entrepreneur knows all about the Port Canaveral area and enjoys providing a fun experience for riders. Several tours are offered giving you options for the perfect date.

The 75-minute day tour ventures around the area including Exploration Tower and The Cove Marketplace. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for dolphins, manatees, and sea turtles as you glide past the coastline. This tour is $65 per person.

If exploring at night is in your wheelhouse, the Port Canaveral Evening Tour is your best bet. You’ll travel past the same landmarks as the day tour but in the romantic light of the setting sun with brilliant hues of orange, pink, and purple as your backdrop. Reserving your spot for the extended tour will cost $85 per person but provides serene views of the Atlantic Ocean and Jetty Park and chances to spot natural wildlife.

St. John's River Cruises offers guided tours on the Segway All Terrain X2. The advantage of these off-road vehicles is you can go just about anywhere! The two-hour guided tour is $55/person and takes you along routes where most park visitors do not venture. You'll be given a 10-minute lesson on how to operate the Segway before heading out at a nice leisurely pace. What we See

Glide Adventure tours of Mount Dora includes both history and scenic views of this historic lakeside town in central Florida.

Your Glide Adventure tour begins at Mount Dora Boating Center and Marina at 148 Charles Ave Mount Dora , FL where you will receive hands on training to safely operate a Segway PT before heading out to waterfront Evans Park. There you try out some different terrains and speeds to get comfortable and accustomed to handling your Glide.  We then regroup to head over to the Port of Mount Dora to stop for a photo op in front of the iconic Mount Dora lighthouse and then enter to explore one of Mount Dora’s hidden gems, Palm Island Park to weave through intriguing nature paths and explore the raised boardwalk over the water’s edge. Watch for native birds and an alligator or two!  Next we literally “Climb Mount Dora” and then descend into the heart of the  historic downtown business district to learn some history of Mount Dora and see historic homes like the  Donnelly house  and quaint neighborhoods . Finally we see the Historic Lakeside Inn  which was built in 1883, is central Florida’s oldest continuously running hotel and overlooks beautiful Lake Dora.  The tour will then glide back to end at the marina.

What you need to Know

How many people can book a Glide Adventure Segway tour time slot?

• We currently have SIX Segway units available per tour. If your party is larger than six, we suggest you book a CatBoat/Glide combo tour. Half of your party can be enjoying a Segway tour while the other half enjoys the CatBoat tour. You can then switch tours for the full experience.  Call 352-325-1442 to coordinate times.

How much does the tour cost?

• The price for a segway tour is $69/person + tax . Please tip your tour guide on site.

Who can participate in a Segway Tour?

• Tours are limited to those 12 years of age and older.

• T he rider must be between 100 and 270 lbs. If you book then you are certifying that you are within the recommended weight limits for safe Segway operation.

• The rider must be able to step on and off the Segway PT without assistance, which requires physical  abilities similar to climbing and descending stairs without the support of a handrail or other walking aid.

• Helmets are provided and must be worn by all riders. If you have a favorite helmet, please feel free  to bring it along.

After a purchase has been made, any guest who fails to show up for a reservation, shows up late, or fails to give 24 hour notice of cancellation for ANY reason, will be charged the full payment amount. Please ensure that you review the date, day, time, venue, price and number of tickets, prior to confirming your purchase. There are NO REFUNDS. Gift Certificates with no expiration date are issued in lieu of refunds for approved cancellations.

SEGWAY GUIDED TOURS

Explore the grounds of Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate on a guided Segway tour the whole family will enjoy. Tours are guided with one coach per maximum of five riders. Children 12-17 years are permitted (over 100 lbs.), but must be accompanied by an adult. Be camera-ready for the amazing nature and wildlife encounters on your tour!

Advance reservations are required, subject to availability and can be made at the Pool Towel Hut by calling (407) 238-6569. Cost is $38 per rider.

If you’ve never ridden a Segway before, you’re in for a treat! Maneuverable, fast, quiet and fun to ride, the X2 is an all-terrain vehicle that can be mastered in minutes. And what better way to do it than with a beautiful backdrop of Florida countryside!

Navigate a variety of surfaces from paved paths to woodland trails as you complete a 2-hour circuit that includes stops at the stables of Tri-Circle-D Ranch , and glassy Bay Lake, where photo ops abound.

Your informative, entertaining Cast Member acts as a guide, sharing trivia, anecdotes and instructions along the way and keeping you in the loop through your electronic headset.

Get Your Segway Legs

Before you head out, you’ll receive approximately 30 minutes of instruction and practice time. You’ll also be outfitted with a safety helmet and an electronic earpiece.

After a brief how-to video and some pointers from your guide, get your bearings on an outdoor training course where you’ll weave through cones and ride up and down a small incline. Then you’re off!

Know Before You Go

• Due to Segway design specifications, riders must weigh 100 to 250 pounds to participate. Riders should be in good general health and able to stand for the duration of the tour. 
• Guests must be 16 years of age or older with a valid photo ID and will be asked to sign a waiver. Helmets are required.
• Wilderness Back Trail Adventure is a 2-hour outdoor tour, so be sure to check the weather forecast and dress appropriately.
• Only a portion of the tour may be cancelled due to inclement weather. In that event, Guests will receive a 50% price adjustment. The first portion of the tour will be held in a covered pavilion, rain or shine.
• Guests on the 8:30 AM tour may need to arrange alternate transportation to arrive at the location on time, as standard Walt Disney World transportation will not be available. Check with your Resort Concierge for transportation options. Guests are responsible for their own transportation costs (e.g., taxi fare).
• Comfortable shoes, such as sneakers, are recommended as Guests will be on their feet for 2 hours. Flip-flops, sandals or rocker/exercise-type shoes (e.g., Skechers Shape-Ups) will not be permitted as these are not compatible with the Segway.
• Please check in at the Bike Barn at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort 15 minutes prior to your tour.
• There is a 24-hour cancellation policy. Full price will be charged/forfeited if the Guest cancels within one day or fails to show up for the reservation.

Tour the Park on a Segway Safari!

The Segway is high tech and silent. Our Segways are top-of-the-line X2 Camo models with all-terrain tires. After a brief training, you will follow your expert driver-guide and discover a multitude of animals in their natural habitats throughout Giraffe Ranch. On a Segway, one is close enough to the ground to see many things unable to be viewed from a vehicle or by camelback, and makes for quite an interesting mode of safari transport!

What kind of animals do you have?

Giraffe Ranch has hundreds of animals representing 70+ different species all housed under huge, ancient oaks and grass lands in this beautiful environment that is right out of an African safari. Because our property consists of about 50 acres of pristine wilderness, we’re able to house a variety of exotic species such as giraffe, zebra, bongo antelope, otters, lemurs, hippos, pere’ Davids deer, warthogs, monkeys, and more! You’ll also have a chance to see a variety of native wildlife.

I do not want to pay for a tour; can I just come and feed the animals?

No. The optional add-ons are only available with the purchase of one of our safaris.

Which tour time is best to view the animals?

All of our tour times are great! The animals that we house here are specifically chosen because they do well in central Florida’s climate.

Where do your animals come from?

Because we have so much space for our animals, babies are a very common thing! Most of our animals are born onsite. We buy, sell, and trade with other licensed facilities.

What should I wear?

Although not required, we recommend close-toed shoes. We go rain or shine, so dress appropriately for the weather.

Can I bring my pet?

We do not allow any unauthorized animals on the premises, which includes our driveway and parking lot. Please leave all dogs, cats, and other furry critters at home.

Will I see every animal during the tour?

Our guides make every effort to encourage our residents to greet our tour groups but the distance at which they are viewed can vary due to the large areas our animals inhabit.

The tour is a hill-free 7 mile ride that’s available year round,  perfect for all skill levels. Tours leave from the bike kiosk located at the  Bohemian Hotel Celebration and typically last an hour and a half.  A great Segway alternative.

Kissimmee History

Formerly known as Allendale, Kissimmee was incorporated in 1883 by a vote of 33 to 3, four years before the creation of Osceola County as we know it today.

Kissimmee was first settled by former confederate major J. H. Allen, who was a riverboat captain. His steamboat, the Mary Belle, was the first cargo steamboat on the Kissimmee River.

Known early on as the home of the country's first bars to accommodate ranchers on horseback, Kissimmee was literally the end of the line. That was during the cowboy era which extended down to Kissimmee and acted as a catalyst for the cattle industry.
