The Nubra Valley Trek

A scattered boulevard beside the Hundar river will take you to Skarchen. Dinner will be served at night along with few activities to boost up the further interaction. Overnight stay will be set up in tents.

Day 4: Trek to Hunder Dok

This will be day 4 on this trek. On this day we will trek from Skarchen to Hunder Dok. Hunder Dok is situated at an elevation of around 13,000 feet above the mean sea level.

The first step will be the Wachan village which is around 2 hours from Skarchen. The way to Wachan village is very disintegrated which makes you pass through the curvy and narrow valley paths. Thereafter we will proceed to a new village named Dok Yongma and then further make our way to Hundar Dok. This village is one of the most remote and mysterious villages you might have ever crossed your path with. It is said to be a hidden village. The smell of potatoes and wheat from the fields will be a refreshing and magical experience.

Take a short walk in the evening. Get acclimatized with the climate of this place. Revel in the beauty of this beautiful campsite. Dinner will be served at night along with lots of life stories. Overnight stay will be set up in tents.

Day 5: Trek to Thanglasgo

We will start early today. After having a healthy breakfast at Hudsor Dok, we will make our way to Thanglasgo. Thanglasgo is situated at an elevation of 14,764 feet. We will cross a tiny stream where we can replenish our water needs. Still, make sure that you have enough water to meet the day’s activities.

Following the tiny stream, we will follow the trail that will take us to Thanglaslo and Snui Sumdo valleys. You will come across a diversified range of faunae such as yak, goat, sheep, and many others grazing in the region. They are actually brought by shepherds from the Wachan and Hundar villages. We will play some games, indulge in storytelling until the dinner is served. We will sleep overnight in tents.

Day 6: Trek to Lasermo La

This will be day 6 on this trek. On this day we will trek from Thunglasgo to Lasermo La. Lasermo La is situated at an elevation of around 15,748 feet above the mean sea level.

In the wake of getting a charge out of the sights of Thanglasgo, we will once more be led by a little stream to the glades outside Thangslasgo and in the long run trekking through the much harder landscapes. As you shall make your way to the Lasermo La base, you will have to cross a lot of melted glaciers on the way. Dinner will be served and overnight stay will be set up.

Day 7: Walking to Lasermo La South Base

We will be walking to Lasermo La South Base which is situated at an elevation of 15,748 feet. Traversing on the hard snow, it will be better to cross Lasermo as early as possible before the sun rises. Witnessing the mighty Ladakh, Karakoram, and Zanskar ranges, we will walk down the snow line.

We will roam around the south base and rejuvenate ourselves. This place is very scenic. You are certain to get some very good snaps of the Himalayas. We will have our dinner at night and stay overnight in tents.

Day 8: Trek to Morobuk; Drive to Leh

This will be the last day of the trek. On this day we will first trek down along the Stok range to Morobuk and then drive back to Leh. We will take a rest at Morobuk and have our lunch there. We can roam a bit, enjoy the last few moments on this journey with a lot of strangers turning into life- long friends. On your drive back to Leh, refresh the memories of the elegant Nubra Valley along with the Trekmunk family. Once you reach Leh, you will be on our own. You can plan your further journey. There are a lot of places you can visit if you wanna stay back for a day or two.

We can arrange a cab for you from the pickup point in Leh which will be the Airport, the charges for the same are included in the package. For communications purposes, we will create a Whatsapp Group before the departure date of the trek and will share the details regarding the transportation. The drop at Leh Airport after the trek will be arranged in a similar way.

How to reach Nubra Valley Trek Base Camp ( Leh ) :

The Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh is the highest airport in India. You can get daily flights to Leh from most of the cities in India. Frequent flights ply from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, and Kolkata. Standing at an elevation of 11,150 feet, Leh is one of the highest cities in India. 

The nearest major railway station is the Jammu Tawi railway station which directly connects major cities of India like New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata and many more. It is the most convenient stop, from where frequent buses and cabs are available.

You can use either the Manali-Leh highway or Srinagar-Leh highway if you wish to travel by road. The Srinagar-Leh highway is more preferable than the Manali-Leh highway.

• Portage of Personal Bags(Offloading):  We highly advise you to carry your own burden (your rucksack) but due to any reason, if you wish to not carry your rucksack, we can arrange for a porter/mule to carry it. For this service, you will be charged over and above the trek cost. The charges for offloading vary with every trek.
• Travel Insurance:  Travel Insurance is not included in this package. We recommend you to have travel insurance before opting for such adventures. You can buy insurance from us while booking the trek, it is optional.
• Personal Expenses:  Any personal expenses incurred (Laundry, Bottled Water, Beverages, Snacks, Orders at tea houses or dhabas, Tips for guides, Camera fees, etc) are not included in the package.

Upon Booking, An invoice will be sent to your mail & within 12 to 24 hours the booking confirmation with additional details will be sent to your mail.

2.  Cancellation Policy:

Note: Following Cancellation policy will be followed for departures booked on or before 31st May 2021-

1)  Cancellation up to 7 days before the start date of the trek:   Get a complete cash refund (minus 5% transaction fee). The money is refunded to the same bank account, credit, or debit card from where the payment was made. 

2)  Cancellation during the last 6 days before the start date of the trek, and not counting the day of the trek:  Full refund with 100% of the trek fee in the form of a Trekmunk Trek Voucher. Valid for 1 year from the date of issue. Can be used on any Trekmunk trek. 

3)  Cancellation on the start day of the trek, or no show on the start day of the trek : Unfortunately, no refund.

3. Refund Policy:

Any refund applicable will be processed within 10 to 15 business days as per the company policy.

4. Postpone/Transfer of a booked trek:

1. You can postpone your booked trek for a period of two months (61 days) but we will charge a 20% processing fee. The last date for the postponement will be 15 days before the start of the trek. Failing to book the slot in 2 months (61 days) time, would be considered a cancellation with no refund of any kind. Postpone of a booked trek can only be done once. 

2. You can transfer your booked slot for the trek to any fit person till 15 days before the trek. You just have to mail us the request and rest we will handle. The new person has to get all the mandatory documents duly signed for the trek.

7. Health & Vaccinations: 

Severe Allergies : If you have a severe allergy please inform the Trekmunk office before you travel. We will do all we can to help, but we cannot guarantee an allergy-free environment on trekmunk trips. You will need to carry your own treatment for the allergy with you, as 'adrenaline auto-injectors' are not carried as standard by our leaders and staff. You should inform your leader on the arrival of your allergy, and let them know where you keep your adrenaline pen.

Vaccinations : You should contact your doctor or travel clinic to check whether you require any specific vaccinations or other preventive measures. You should be up to date with routine courses and boosters as recommended e.g. diphtheria-tetanus-polio and measles-mumps-rubella, along with hepatitis A and typhoid. Malarial prophylaxis is not usually required for trips in the mountains, however, if you are visiting rural and remote low lying areas then they might be necessary. 

8. Passport & Visas/Identity Proofs : If foreigner, Validity for 6 months, should have blank pages, and should be kept with yourself all the time.

9. Water : If you are on a trekking or cycling holiday, water is supplied to fill up your individual bottles. This will be boiled or filtered. Additionally, you should take purification tablets or a filter bottle (such as a LifeStraw, Sawyer Filter) to treat your water when in towns or where water is not supplied. We do not encourage the purchasing of single-use plastic bottles.

10. Altitude : This adventure involves going to a very high altitude. This is not something that you should worry about; the human body is quite capable of adapting to a very wide range of altitudes, but it is important that we follow some simple rules in order to acclimatize successfully. We will send you the information in your mailbox about Acute Mountain Sickness and trekking in high altitudes. On this trip, we carry bottled oxygen for use in emergencies.

11. Guidance on Tipping : Tipping is the accepted way of saying thank you for good service. Normally the guide and any other trek staff are given their tips at the end of the trek and this is best done as a group. The main guide will make sure that the tip is appropriately distributed among all the staff members on the trek.

12. Spending/Emergency Money : Approximately Rs. 8000-10000/- (in Indian Currency)should be carried for miscellaneous expenses including porter and trek crew tips, drinks, soft drinks, etc. We recommend that you carry your travel money in the form of cash as the availability of ATM is less in these remote areas. This can also serve as your emergency spending money.

13. Travel Insurance : It is recommended to have travel insurance for these kinds of adventures. When taking out insurance please ensure the policy you choose covers you for the activities and altitude included in your itinerary. We will ask for the Travel Insurance Details over a mail. Nubra Valley Trek Itinerary 

The Nubra valley trek itinerary is only for 5 days. However, you are advised to come a day earlier to Leh and spend a day for acclimatization. Usually, our clients come a few days earlier, explore Nubra valley via sightseeing and then start the trek. By this time they are quite acclimatized to the altitude and the trek becomes easy and less prone to make you sick because of altitude.

Hunder – Skarchen

Hunder is the point that you will have to reach, and this is the point from where our trek starts. This is the first day of trekking. After breakfast, you will start trekking via the village and shepherd settlements of Skarchen which is at an altitude of 3800m. This valley is cut by a beautiful river stream. Our campsite will be just beside the river streams. 

Skarchen – Brok Yogma

On the second day of the trek, you will be going to Brok Yogma via the pristine villages of Dokyogma, Wacham, and Drokyogma. The actual campsite will be at Sniu Sumdo. 

Brok Yogma – Hunder Valley

Today is the trek of crossing and reaching the Hunder valley. . The gradient of the day is difficult so be prepared for the tough trek day. Keep enough water with yourself and take water frequently. Our campsite will be in Hunder valley at an altitude of 4800m. 

Hundar Valley – Lasermo La – Phyang Valley

This is the mountain pass day. On this day we will go to Phyang valley via Lasermo La a high mountain pass that stands at an altitude of 5420m. The gradient of the day is difficult as one has to climb up to the pass and then descend to the campsite. The campsite will be at an altitude of 4500m.

Phyang Valley – Leh

Ladakh's Nubra Valley: The Complete Guide

If you love adventure and getting off the beaten track, visiting the secluded Nubra Valley will be a highlight of your travels in high-altitude Ladakh. This intriguing, far-flung area is notable for connecting India to the southern branch of the old Silk Road trade route from China, through the Karakorum Pass. (The double-humped Bactrian camels that inhabit the Nubra Valley are a legacy of being brought in from China's Gobi desert by traders to haul heavy loads). Up until China shut the border in 1949, traders still journeyed between Yarkand (present-day Xinjiang in China) and Kashmir in India via Ladakh.

Due to the Nubra Valley being a sensitive border area, tourism is strictly regulated and the imprint of it is minimal. Some places remained off-limits until less than a decade ago, adding to the remarkableness of the destination. The widespread presence of the Indian Army against the stark, arid landscape is a further reminder of its position.

Not a lot of archeological research was carried out in the Nubra Valley until recently (the first formal survey took place in 1992). As a result, little is known about the area's history prior to when the Tibetan Buddhist monastery was built in Diskit in 1420. However, numerous fortress ruins indicate that the Nubra Valley was split up and presided over by local chieftains. Indeed, villagers say that Diskit Monastery is situated on the premises of an ancient fort.

Although Buddhism spread to western Ladakh from Kashmir as early as the 2nd century, it's thought that the religion was introduced into the Nubra Valley from neighboring Tibet in the 8th century when the Tibetan Empire was expanding. Unlike earlier rock inscriptions in other parts of Ladakh, the inscriptions found in the Nubra Valley are all in Tibetan.

Local chieftains continued to autonomously rule the Nubra Valley until the 16th century, when Islamic invader Mirza Haider Dughlat entered Ladakh through the area and defeated them. After this, in the mid 16th century, the Nubra Valley came under the Namgyal Dynasty with the rest of Ladakh. This new dynasty was founded by a Ladakhi king and reigned over the whole region. It allowed Nubra Valley's chieftains to remain though.

Unfortunately, Ladakh's relations with Tibet took a turn for the worse in the late 17th century. This resulted in an attempted invasion by Tibet, forcing Ladakh to seek help from the Mughals in Kashmir. A peace treaty settled the dispute in 1684 (among other things, it fixed the boundary between Ladakh and Tibet at Pangong Lake ) but started the decline of Ladakh as an independent kingdom.

Ladakh, including the Nubra Valley, was wedged between powerful Kashmir and Tibet. The Sikhs ousted the Mughals and took control of Kashmir in the early 19th century. They also wanted to control the lucrative pashmina wool trade that Ladakh was involved in. So, they arranged for the Dogras (who ruled the adjacent Jammu region) to carry out an aggressive military invasion. Ladakh surrendered, and ultimately ended up being annexed to Jammu and Kashmir. It became a separate union territory of Indian in October 2019.

During the Partition, Ladakh was divided unequally between India and Pakistan. Border disputes and national security concerns ensued, requiring the region to be closed to outsiders.

The predominantly Muslim province of Baltistan was one place in the Nubra Valley that was merged with Pakistan. However, India reclaimed a portion of it during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani war. This included four villages — Chalunkha, Turtuk, Tyakshi and Thang. The process literally happened overnight. Residents fell asleep in Pakistan and woke up in India!

All the decades of fighting halted economic development in Ladakh and tourism provided an opportunity for the region to recover. To facilitate this, the Indian government reopened parts of Ladakh in 1974. However, the Nubra Valley remained off-limits until 1994 and no one could visit Turtuk until 2010, as tourists weren't permitted beyond Panamik and Hunder in the Nubra Valley.

More recently, after pressure from locals, the final access points for tourists were moved past Panamik to Warshi (in the direction of Siachen Base Camp) and to Tyakshi village ahead of Turtuk (from where you can see the Indian and Pakistani borderline). In October 2019, the Indian government announced that tourists can now visit Siachen Glacier, which is also the world's highest battlefield.

The Nubra Valley is located in the northernmost part of Ladakh, at an altitude of just over 3,000 meters (about 10,000 feet) above sea level. It lies between the mighty Karakoram and Ladakh mountain ranges , about 150 kilometers (93 miles) north of Leh across the Khardung La mountain pass.

The area is actually made up of two valleys — Nubra and Shyok — created by rivers of the same names. These rivers originate from the Siachen Glacier, on either side of the Karakoram Range. The Nubra River merges into the Shyok River near Diskit (the headquarters of the Nubra Valley).

In addition to Diskit, popular destinations Hunder, Turtuk and Tyakshi are situated alongside the Shyok River, which joins the Indus River in Pakistan. Alongside the Nubra River are Sumur, Tiggur, Panamik and Warshi.

How to Get There

It takes five to six hours to reach Diskit from Leh in Ladakh . The main way of getting there is via Khardung La, which passes over the Ladakh mountain range. It's often incorrectly claimed to be the highest motorable road in the world, at a height of 5,602 meters (18,380 feet) above sea level. However, the Indian government has stated its real height to be only 5,359 meters (17,582 feet). Regardless, you won't want to spend any longer than about 15 minutes there due to the altitude, or you're likely to feel lightheaded.

There's an alternative, more difficult route into the Nubra Valley to the east of Khardung La. It crosses Wari La from Sakti, and connects to the main road via Agham and Khalsar alongside the Shyok River. You can reach the Nubra Valley from Pangong Lake, via Durbuk and Shyok villages, as well. This route is growing in popularity.

Public transport is intermittent. So, traveling by private vehicle is most convenient. This might not be feasible for budget travelers, as a taxi will typically charge 10,000-15,000 rupees for a two-day round trip to the Nubra Valley from Leh.

Fortunately, buses run from Leh bus stand to Diskit three times a week — departing early in the mornings on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. You can expect to pay about 500 rupees for the round trip by bus, which is quite a difference! In addition, a bus runs directly from Leh to Turtuk on Saturday mornings, and from Leh to Panamik on Tuesday mornings.

Taking a shared jeep from Leh to Diskit, Hunder or Sumur is another budget option, at a cost of 400-500 rupees per person one way.

Foreigners should make transport arrangements through a registered travel agent in Leh, as it's necessary to get a Protected Area Permit (PAP) to visit the Nubra Valley. According to the rules, at least two foreigners must be in a group to apply for a PAP. However, travel agents will add solo travelers to other groups (so, you can share their taxi too). You don't need to join the group though. Travelers do go alone after getting the permit and are rarely questioned (you can always say your companion is ill or will be coming later).

Note that citizens of Afghanistan, Burma, Bangladesh, Pakistan and China need permission from the Ministry of Home Affairs in Delhi for a PAP, and should apply through the Indian consulate in their country.

Indian citizens must have an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to visit the Nubra Valley. The requirements are less strict and it's now possible to apply for the permit online here . It can also be obtained from the Tourist Information Center near Jammu and Kashmir Bank in Leh's Main Bazaar.

Khardung La is open throughout the year. However, the tourist season in the Nubra Valley extends from May to October, peaking in July and August. Go in late September or early October to avoid the rush. The Nubra Valley is at a lower altitude than Leh, so it doesn't get as cold.

What to Do There

The Nubra Valley, at the "cultural crossroads" of Tibet and Central Asia, is a fascinating meeting place of two religions — Buddhism and Islam. The main tourist destinations and attractions can be covered in three days, although there are options for trekking and camping for those who want to stay longer.

To get acquainted with the Nubra Valley's Buddhist heritage, visit its prominent Buddhist monasteries. The largest one is clustered on a hill above Diskit. If you're willing to wake up early and arrive by dawn, you'll be able to catch the monks' evocative daily morning prayers accompanied by a melody of chanting, horns and cymbals. Walk further up behind the monastery for magnificent views of the Shyok Valley below. For an unforgettable experience, try and attend the monastery's annual 2-day Diskit Gustor festival in October, where the monks perform masked dances. The unmissable landmark 100 foot-tall statue of Maitreya Buddha, which watches over the valley, is another highlight in Diskit. This more recent addition was inaugurated by the Dalai Lama in 2010.

You'll find more Buddhist monasteries in the vicinity of Hunder, Sumur, and Panamik. Chamba Gompa at Hunder features an imposing large gold Maitreya Buddha statue, vibrant frescoes, and interesting Buddhist sites dotted around it. Samstanling Monastery, near Sumur, was relatively recently constructed in the 19th century but is beautifully decorated inside with paintings and wall hangings. From Panamik, it's worth visiting little-known Ensa Monastery perched on the other side of the Nubra River, where an elderly monk lives in solitude. The monastery has a curious footprint in one of its prayer rooms. It's believed to belong to a monk called Dachompa Nyima Gungpa, whose religious cloth gave him the power to fly. Ancient and remote Yarma Gonbo Monastery is further on, towards Warshi, and can now be reached by tourists.

Panamik is best known for its natural therapeutic hot water sulfur spring, which may relieve aches and pains. Despite the new bathhouse there, some tourists find it underwhelming. A short 10 minute hike to holy Yarab Tso lake, in the mountains near the entrance of the village, is more rewarding.

The atmospheric Tiggur village (also called Tegar or Tiger), between Sumur and Panamik, is developing as a tourism hot spot. It's home to Zimskhang Gompa, the ruins of a palace that belonged to a local chieftain. There are more fort and palace ruins in nearby Charasa.

In the sand dunes between Diskit and Hunder, a sunset ride on a Bactrian camel is an iconic thing to do. This barren expanse was formed in 1929, by a major flood that washed away a dense forest of sea buckthorn. Wind swept sand up from across the valley and deposited it there. Camel riding is possible at Sumur too, although the dunes are less impressive.

Do allocate a day to visit the Balti Muslim villages beyond Hunder, with their distinctly different landscape and culture. The Balti Heritage Museum in Turtuk provides insight into local history, from the time the village was inhabited by the Brokpa tribe and later taken over by warriors from Central Asia. You may also be able to meet the "king" of Turtuk, Yabgo Mohammad Khan Kacho, a descendant of the Yabgo Dynasty that ruled Baltistan for 2,000 years. He still occupies the former palace, and has converted part of it into a museum to showcase the dynasty's memorabilia. Old wooden mosques that have withstood the test of time are another draw in Turtuk. While you're there, dine on authentic Balti cuisine at the Balti Kitchen near Maha Guest House or Balti Farm at Turtuk Holiday Resort.

Although Siachen Glacier is now open for tourism, it is regulated by the Indian Army and requires permits. At 15,000 feet above sea level, only those who are deemed fit enough to deal with the extremities of the glacier will be allowed to go there.

Accommodations

The various accommodations in the Nubra Valley consist of tented camps for glamping, guesthouses and homestays. Most are only open during the tourist season from May to October.

Chamba Camp Diskit is ideal for luxury travelers. Butler service, gourmet food, bespoke itineraries and immersive experiences are all part of the package. Expect to pay 68,000 rupees per night for a double, with discounts for two and three night stays.

For less expensive glamping in Diskit, try Desert Himalaya Resort . The three categories of tents, plus trailer accommodations, are spread over six acres. Rates start from about 8,000 rupees per night for a double.

Alternatively, Hotel Sten Del is recommended in Diskit. The rooms are clean and attractive, and the property has a relaxing garden. Doubles are priced from about 5,000 rupees per night.

Apple Nubra Cottage has cheaper but still comfortable Swiss tents from about 3,000 rupees per night near Hunder.

Want to get away from the crowds? Modern, family-run Nubra Eco Lodge is located in a scenic and serene spot near Sumur. It has four tents, two cottages and three rooms. Once served as a transit area for traders on the silk route, Nubra Valley, is now a must visit place for any trekker. With its sand dunes to double humped camels and from extravagant river valleys to its lush green barley fields, it is truly a delight to every eye. Driving across the Khardungla, highest motorable pass our route takes us to the heart of the Nubra valley, Hundar, near to the Diskit monastery from where we start our trek. Walking through breathtaking gorges and large meadows of the Nubra valley, our trek passes through Lasermo La (5400m), an eternally snow bound pass connecting Nubra and Indus Valleys.

NUBRA VALLEY TREK

DETAILED ITINERARY:

Day 1: Fly Delhi – Leh (3500m) The flight takes us over the Greater Himalayas and makes an exciting landing at one of the highest airports in the world. Transfer to hotel. Rest & acclimatise. Overnight at hotel.

Day 2: Sightseeing In Leh (3500m) Visit the famous monasteries of Shey & Thiksey. Back to hotel for lunch. Overnight at hotel.

Day 3: Drive to road-head via Khardungla (6hrs) and trek to Hunder Dok (4010m) 3-4 hrs A 4 hour long but beautiful drive across the Khardungla, the highest motor-able pass leads us to Hundar, a small village in the heart of picturesque Nubra valley. Hundar offers a quiet and spectacular view of the Nubra valley and is the start of our Nubra Valley Trek. Now there is a road being constructed to Hundar Dok. We drive till Skarchen and then walk along the Hundar River on the side opposite to where the road work is going on. and walking on the road which is being paved beside the river. Hundar Dok is almost a hidden village and nobody would realize that such a big village could exist somewhere inside when you start trekking. The narrow Nubra gorge just opens up to this massive village with farmfields of barley, wheat and potatoes. There is a path that runs through the middle of the village dividing the village and the farmfields into 2 halves. Overnight Camp.

Day 4: Trek Hunder Dok to Sumdo Dok (4400m) 4-5 hrs Today we trek along the Thanglasgo river and pass through wide open valleys and meadows. We camp at the junction of Sniu and Thanlasgo Valley. Its a very pretty campsite. Overnight Camp.

Day 5: Trek Sumdo dok to Thanglasgo valley (4500m) 5-6 hrs/strong> Today we follow a small stream in the Thanglasgo valley we gradually climb up to the Thanglasgo, our destination for the day. Thanglasgo also serves as the grazing grounds for all the cattle(Yak, Sheep, Goat) from Hundar Dok and Wachan. There are 2 big Shepherd’s settlements here. We camp a little ahead of these settlements. Overnight Camp.

Day 6: Trek Thanglasgo to Lasermo La base (4800m) 5-6 hrs The trail to Lasermo La base starts with following a small stream. The trail passes through large meadows gradually gaining altitude and is very well defined. There are a few lakes too which have been formed by the water draining from the glacier. Yaks and Dzos can be seen grazing around. On reaching the base camp of the Lasermo La we get spectacular views of the eternally snow bound Lasermo La pass. Overnight Camp.

Day 7: Trek to Lasermo La (5400m) and descend to Phyang Phu (4620m) 6-7 hrs We make an early start so that we walk on had snow and try to cross the pass before the sun starts thawing it. As the sun warms up, the snow loosens and the horses sink in. Starting early morning we climb up gradually crossing the moraine and reach the snow line. From then on it is walking on snow till the top of the Lasermo La. The Pass offers a spectacular view of the Karakoram mountains and the Ladakh and Zanskar ranges. From the pass, we descend to the south base of the Lasermo La. The south base is naked without any snow on the surface. Laser Overnight Camp.

Day 8: Trek to Morobuk and drive to Leh 4-5 hrs trek and 40mins drive. On the final day of the trek we descend to Morobuk accompanied by wonderful views of the Stok Range and later drive back to Leh. Overnight Hotel.

Day 9: Fly out Early morning transfer to Leh airport for Leh-Delhi flight.

Cancellation Terms

If it becomes necessary to cancel your trip, you must notify the office immediately in writing. The below terms would be applicable.

Flexible Bookings: To factor in the extra-ordinary circumstances that we live in right now, we have amended our cancellation policy to allow customers to easily make changes to their plans if required and have the assurance that their money is protected.

If you notify us about the change in your travel plans at least 21 days before departure date, you can transfer your entire deposit to a different departure in India without any charge.

Cancellation:

Please note that the following charges will apply on cancellation:

• If you have paid us a deposit and cancel more than 30 days prior to departure,we will refund the entire amount received by us less service fees of SGD 80.

• If you have paid us a deposit and cancel more than 21 days prior to departure,we will hold the entire amount as a credit towards a future trip in India . You can also transfer it as a deposit for any other departure in India  you might want to join at a later date.

• If you have paid in full and cancel 21 days or less prior to departure, we will charge a 50% cancellation fee and hold the remaining 50% as credit towards a future trip in India taken within 1 year from the date of cancellation.

• If the cancellation is due to you having COVID-19/ “flu-like symptoms”, supported by a medical certificate OR due to any travel restrictions imposed by the national or local government we will hold the entire amount paid by you as a credit for a future trip in India . Sometimes last-minute cancellations could attract cancellation fees for third-party arrangements like air, train, or bus tickets; hotels; permit fees, processing fee, etc. Such cancellation charges if any would be borne by the customers.

Passing through Khardung La, which is world’s highest motorable road, the Nubra Valley Trek breaks open to a beautiful topography that was once was a part of a trade route between India, Tibet and Central Asia. It was an important platform for caravans following the Silk Road used for swapping their mules for the famous double-hump Bactrian camels. The river Nubra following in the region is a major tributary of the Shyok river that flows parallel to the Indus on the northern side of the Ladakh range. A rich variety of vegetation and orchids can be witnessed along Nubra River which results in adding colour to the valley. Today, Nubra Valley Trek is one of the moderate to challenging treks in Ladakh region that allow exploration of coloured steep and barren walls, remote villages and Gompas.

The major attractions on this trek in Ladakh region are monasteries like Shey Gompa, which is approximately 15 kilometers away from Leh; Thiksey Gompa, which is at a distance of about 17 kilometers away from Leh and Hemis, which is situated 45 kms away from Leh and is ofcourse one of the most popular monasteries in Ladakh region. Further the journey proceeds to the unread lore of a culture hiding within the barren topography. One can explore the remote villages like the Khardung, Khalser, Agyam, Khalsar, Tirit, Lukung, Tegar, Sumur and Diskit.

Being one of the popular trekking trails in the Ladakh region, the Nubra Valley Trek attracts trekkers from different parts of the world. The valley is also often dubbed as “Valley of Flowers” and during the peak season it blossoms with varied colours flowers. The Nubra Valley trekking trail passes through several high passes namely Digar La at 6000 meters and Khardung La. Thus, the trek by and large exhibits a land that is no less than a dreamland.

The best time to visit Nubra Valley trek is between June and mid-October. During this time, the weather in Ladakh is pleasant and the average temperature ranges between 20 and 30°C in the daytime. July and August are the ideal months for Nubra Valley trek as during these months Manali-Leh and Srinagar-Leh highways also opens for private vehicles.

Where is the Nubra Valley?

Nubra is a tri-armed valley and is located in the north-east of Ladakh Valley. Diskit, the capital of Nubra region is about 150 km north from Leh town, the capital of Ladakh district, India. According to local scholars, the original name of Nubra was Ldumra, which means the Valley of Flowers. The Shyok River meets the Siachan River to form a large valley that separates Ladakh and Karakoram Ranges. The average altitude of Nubra valley is about 3048 metres above the sea level. The common way to access Nubra is to travel over the Khardung La pass from Leh town. Foreign nationals are required to get a protected area permit (PAP) to visit the Nubra Valley. Since 1st May 2014 Indian citizens are no longer required to get an Inner Line Permit to visit the valley.

We will be visiting Shey Gompa, which was once the summer capital of Ladakh kings; Thiksey Gompa, which is said to be one of the most beautiful structures in Ladakh and the famed Hemis Monastery belonging to Drukpa Order. Overnight stay at the guest house.

Leh – Khardung La – Kyagar

Today, we will drive to Kyagar Village via Khardung La, the highest motor-able road in the world. Explore Samstanling Monastery and the small human settlements. Overnight stay in the hotel.

Kyagar – Hunder

Today, we shall drive to Diskit Monastery to our first camp placed in Hunder. At Hunder, if possible, we will arrange a short ride on Bactrian Camel.

Hunder – Skarchen

Post breakfast, we shall begin our trekking through an incredible valley to shepherd’s huts positioned at Skarchen (3800 meters) at the confluence of 2 streams. It is here that we will set the camps and have an overnight stay.

Skarchen – Brok Yogma

Our trek will be to Brok Yogma, for which we will cross the tiny hamlets of Dokyogma, Wacham and Drokyogma. Camp at Sniu Sumdo.

Brok Yogma – Hunder Valley

Today, we will trek up to the valley of Hunder and the Lasermo La. The camp will be set at 4800 meters elevation.

Hundar Valley – Lasermo La - Phyang Valley

We shall start early in the morning to cross Lasermo La (5420 meters) and then trek down to Phyang La. Overnight stay at the camp at about 4500 meters of elevation.

Phyang Valley – Leh

Our trek for today will be to Phyang, where jeeps will be waiting to take us to Leh. Arrive at the hotel and have overnight stay.

Leh – Delhi

• Less than 30 days prior to departure - 50% of the Trip Cost as cancellation charges and we will refund the balance.

• Less than 21 days - the entire amount would be forfeited.

A trip graded as a Moderate Trek takes you to high altitude regions - above 3000m / 10,0000ft and will involve considerable altitude gain over the course of the trek. Altitude will have an effect, hence one would need to be careful about acclimatization. Moderate treks will have multiple days which involve considerable amount of ascents and descents  and would require walking for more than 6 hours. There might be a day or two of camping in relatively high altitudes above 4000m / 13,000ft. A typical trek will last around a week to ten days depending on the region and is a good step-up for people who have completed a beginner trek.

Good fitness levels are needed to enjoy these trips. Some training up before the trip would help. Prior trekking experience is desirable.

You can approach Leh either from Delhi, via Manali, Himachal Pradesh,1028Km. Or else you can reach from Srinagar via Kargil, Jammu & Kashmir, 812 Km.

Delhi is the last Railway Station if you plan to come via Manali. Otherway Jammu, Katra, (KEA), Jammu Tawi ( JAT) are the available options from Srinagar side.

If passengers are not carrying negative RT-PCR report, then mandatory 7 days of home quarantine. COVID test may be conducted at the end of quarantine period.

Day 1 : Leh to Nubra Valley

Base Camp of Nubra Valley trek is Leh. Reaching Leh by taking road route consumes a lot of time so board a flight and directly reach there.

Our journey starts from Leh over the World’s highest motorable road (5500 m) which offers great views of Sasar peak and Nubra valley. Go to the village to visit Sumur Monastery, drive back to Disket, there visit famous Disket Monastery.

Reach Hundar, in the evening explore Hundar Monastery get back to camps and retire for the night.

Day 2 : Hundar to Wachan (5/6 hours)

Follow left side of the Hundar River which gently flows through a narrow valley. The trail is zig zag ascend through it and ahead come across villages and fields.

This is Wachan, setup your camps near the field and settle for the day.

Day 3 : Wachan to Sarathang (6/7 hours)

Leave Wachan and head to Sarathang. Climb gently and cross Hunda River over the bridge. Towards the left are few Hundar dok huts.

Witness sheep, Yaks, goats and other domestic animals. Reach Sarathang and retire for the night.

Day 4 : Sarathang to Muru dok via Lasarmola (5330 m) (6/7 hours)

Post breakfast, follow the right ascending trail to reach the glacier, the climb is tough through rocky terrain. The glacier rewards you with magnificent views of Stok Kangri summit.

The descent from here is long and reaching Muru dok would take 4 to 5 hours.

It is a beautiful campsite amid two rivers, setup your camps here and retire for the night.

Day 5 : Muru dok to Thachungtse (5/6 hours)

Continue the Markha valley trail passing through tone mills, a destroyed castle and pristine monastery of Techa situated upon a cliff above Markha. There are several streams on the way before the last settlements of valley.

Leave Umlung village and get first sight of Mt Kang Yatse and the view accompanies us until we reach Kongmaru La.

Have lunch at Hangkar, the last village in the valley then continue hiking to Thochuntse, choose a good ground, setup your tents and retire for the night.

Day 6: Thachungtse to Leh (5/6 hours)

From the campsite, go along the river and cross it further. Start the gradual ascent to Gyamtsa La which lies at an elevation of 4200 m. And, afterwards descend to Gyamtsa and enjoy your journey to Leh.

Note: –   Many trekkers commit the same mistake of carrying unnecessary items on a trek which only makes the backpack heavy. It is important to know the right items to carry. It differs from season to season if you are trekking in summers then carry less layers of warm clothing and if you are trekking in winters carry enough layers to protect yourself against chilly cold.

Necessary Items for trekkers

Backpack (50 to 60 liters) A strongly built backpack with good support is compulsory for a trek. (Rain cover is important)

Sturdy Trekking Shoes The shoes should be strong enough with good support. The people ask if sports shoes would be comfortable but it is good to bring the right trekking shoes.

The Clothes You Should Bring On a Trek Avoid keeping extra clothes because it only makes you backpack heavy.

Trek Pants – The jeans are never suitable for a trek so you need at least 2-3 trek pants for treks carry more for longer treks.

Jacket – Jackets are very important to carry on a trek it protects you against the chilly weather. So carry 2 jackets on a week long trek.

Following the ancient silk route, the stunning Lasermo La trek takes you from Leh to Nubra Valley across the mighty 5438 meters pass. The trail connects two distinct terrains of Ladakh eventually ending at the ice desert of Nubra Valley famous for its sand dunes and Bactrian camels. The trek is meant for experienced trekkers and for beginners with good physical fitness due to a significant increase in altitude. The pass gives you magnificent views of the Ladakh, Zanskar and Karakoram range of mountains such as Stok Kangri and Saser Kangri with Indus Valley on one side and the Nubra Valley on the other. This trek is a unique way to explore the stunning landscapes and scenery of Ladakh. The best time for Lasermo La trek is between the months of June to October. Arrival at Leh (3500 m)

Arrive in Leh by 12 PM. Today is for rest & acclimatization. Staying indoors all day isn't a great idea. Go out for short walks during the day as it helps in acclimatization. Explore the local market of Leh.

Acclimatisation in Leh (3500 m)

Explore the cultural and natural beauty of Leh. This will make you familiar with the town and also help in acclimatize to the weather. Leh is the center point of Ladakh and also a major town from where all expeditions begin. It is also a culturally rich place. There are dozens of monasteries and ancient temples that you can go around. They are located in and around the town. Enjoy the local cuisines which are a major attraction for travellers.

Leh to Phyang (3554 m) - 20 km Drive. Phyang to Phyang Phu (4621 m) - 14 km trek

Today we will drive from Leh to Phyang and visit the Phyang village located on top of the village. We start our trek from Phyang to Phyang Phu where the villagers bring their animals in summers for grazing. There is a significant height gain on the first day of the trek itself so be sure to stay hydrated.

Phyang Phu to South Base of Lasermo La (4955 m) - 4 km

Today we trek gradually to the south base of Lasermo La. It is going to be a short trek. We spend the day acclimatizing to the hihg altitude and rest for the next day's pass cross.

South Base of Lasermo La to North Base of Lasermo La (4910 m) via Lasermo La (5438 m) - 10 km

Today is a long day as we start early and trek towards crossing the Lasermo La at 5438 meters. The pass gives you stunning views of the entire Ladakh, Zanskar and the Karakoram mountain ranges with the Indus Valley on one side and the Nubra Valley on the other. We continue to descend down towards the North Base of Lasermo La.

North Base of Lasermo to Hunder Dok (4061 m) - 16 km

We will descend down through a valley of meadows and flowers alongside the stream until Hunder Dok where shepherd huts are located and the animals graze.

Hunder Dok to Hunder (3160 m) - 16 km. Drive to Leh via Khardung La (5602 m) - 6 hours

We will walk past the lovely villages of Drok Gongma and Drok Yokma along with stunning views of the mighty Saser Kangri (7672 m) peak at the distance. We walk through the sand dunes of Hunder which is a high altitude ice cold desert with Bactrian camels, a part of the ancient silk route. Board our vehicles at Hunder and drive to Leh over the world's highest motorable pass, Khardung La. Overnight in hotel.

The start point of the Lasermo La trek is Leh. By Road: By Bus - The Delhi to Leh has many stops. There are direct HRTC (Himachal Road Transport Corporation) state-run buses from Delhi to Ladakh via Manali. The distance is covered in a span of 35 hours. The bus departs in the afternoon from Delhi, passes Chandigarh in the late evening, crosses Kullu early in the morning and Keylong a little later. After an overnight stay at Keylong, the bus starts early from Keylong to reach Leh by the evening. By Car/Cab – Delhi to Leh by road is considered as an adventure. The road trip to Leh by motorcycle, bikes, Jeep and SUV is a lifetime experience for the travelers. The distance of Delhi to Leh Ladakh by road via Leh Manali Highway is around 1011 km and the total travel time is approximately 24 hours. By Rail: There is no direct train from Delhi to Leh, as Leh does not have a railway station. Travellers can either catch a train to Tawi, Jammu or Chandigarh and board a bus or take a cab to Leh. By Air: Leh has a military airport and there are regular flights from Delhi to Leh. It is also connected to a few other major cities in India. Early flight booking can be economical. The options for the return journey remain the same.

Connectivity: What is the cellular network connectivity for this trek?

Only postpaid connections work in Ladakh region. BSNL and Airtel get the best network. You get full network at the base and end point of the trek.

Age limit: What is the minimum & maximum age limit?

The minimum age limit is 13 years. However, minors aged between 13 to 17 should be accompanied with their parents or guardians. If you are above the age of 60, kindly carry a medical certificate from your doctor that deem you fit for adventure activities like trekking.

Lasermo La is in the Ladakh region. Leh-Ladakh holds within themselves some soul-stirring attractions which are accessible through shared or privates taxis. The blue sapphire famous Pangong Lake is a jaw-dropping beauty that one can visit. Nubra Valley is an alluring landscape carpeted with vibrant flowers. Accommodation: What will be the accommodation type in this trek?

When you arrive in Leh, your stay will be made at a local hotel/guest house stay. The rooms will be provided on a twin or triple sharing basis. You will receive the details of your accommodation through email a few days prior to the trek. On trekking days, all the trekkers will be accommodated in twin sharing tents. Along with this, there will also be a toilet tent and a dining tent installed at every campsite as we roll.

Equipment and facilities: What kind of tents and sleeping bags will be provided to us?

We provide 4 seasons tents by Gipfel for higher altitudes which can easily withstand heavy snowfall and storms. They are spacious enough to accomodate 3 people at once with a vestibule to place the backpacks. Our sleeping bags are made up of Heatseeker Pro synthetic insulation that can provide you comfort in -10 degrees celsius. We also use additional fleece liners to have thermal efficiency even in the extreme temperatures of -17 degrees Celsius. If you carry your own sleeping bag, you will get a cashback reward provided that you inform us as soon as you have booked your trek.

Equipment and facilities: Are there any washroom/toilet facilities on the trek?

Toilet tents will be provided to you on the trek.These are portable toilets tents where a deep pit will be dug. A shovel will be provided inside the tent to cover the waste after you have made your business. You can take a toilet roll inside. Make sure you dig used toilet paper along with the waste. Though water is recommended in place of toilet paper. Please refrain from using wet wipes as they are non-biodegradable. There will be no facility for bathing on the trek. Equipment and facilities: If we trek in snow, what equipment will you provide?

You will be provided with good quality of gaiters and microspikes from us depending upon the situation of the snow. Our trek leaders will also be carrying ropes and ice axe.

Equipment and facilities: What kind of food will be provided for the trek?

Vegetarian food will be served throughout the trek. The only non-vegetarian item served on our treks are eggs. Our kitchen staff follows a proper menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner which has been designed in order to fulfil the nutritional requirements of the participants. There will be milk, poha, eggs, muesli/corn flakes, bread and butter served for breakfast. Rice or simple roti sabzi will be packed for lunch. In dinner, you will have dal, egg curry or any other vegetarian dish along with rice, roti, and a dessert item. Packed lunch will be provided to you on the days you are trekking. You are requested to carry your own tiffin box and a mug to consume food. The meals consumed on journey and arrival day are not included in our cost.

Weather conditions: What will the temperatures be like during this trek?

During the day, the temperature will range from 20-30 degrees celsius. The nights will get cold dropping the temperature to 5-15 degrees celsius. The higher the altitude you gain, the colder it gets.

There will be snow on the pass. However, you might find snow in the months of May, late September and October on the trail.

Miscellaneous : Is there an option to offload my backpack?

If you want to offload your rucksack, you will have to make a request for offloading a few days prior the trek through an email so that arrangement can be made in advance. You will be charged per day for offloading your rucksack. In case you decide to offload on the spot, you may have to pay a higher price than usual. However offloading your rucksack is not recommended since it is not a safe practice.

Miscellaneous : Who will lead us on the trek?

A team of participant will be led by a course certified trek leader and a local guide. All participants are requested to abide by what their leader says. There will also be a team of kitchen staff and porters on the trek. We maintain 1:8 ratio of trek leader and participants. All our trek leaders and staff have a certified training in first-aid and rescue operation.

Miscellaneous : Is the trekking pole necessary?

Yes, trekking pole is necessary. If you don’t want to buy one, you can rent it from us on minimal daily basis charges. You can request the renting link from us.

Miscellaneous : Are there any local stores/shops from where I can shop trekking necessities?

Yes, there are stores and shops in Leh from where you can buy necessary stuff. Though it is recommended that you come prepared with all the stuff. Please do not leave anything for last minute buying.

Miscellaneous : Is it safe for a solo woman traveller to trek in Fixed departures?

Yes, it is absolutely safe for solo woman to travel in fix departures. Women on the trek will be sharing tent with each other. In case you are the only woman on the trek, you will be given a separate tent.

Miscellaneous : Will you give certificates on completion of trek?

Yes, e-certificates will be given at the end of each trek provided that you completed it. It will bear your name, the trek, and the maximum altitude you achieved on the trek.

Transport: In case we opt for the transport with you, where will you pick us from and where will you drop?

The hotel at Leh is the pick-up point from which we drive to Phyang in a jeep. Once the trekking portion of the trip is over, the vehicle will pick you up from the roadhead at Hunder dok, and drive you back to your hotel in Leh.

Transport: What time will you drop us at the end point on last day of the trek?

Expect to reach Leh by late evening. Make sure your bookings from this point to your respective destinations are for the next day.

Itinerary for Nubra Valley Trekking Tour

Transfer to leh.

To start your trekking tour of the Nubra Valley, you’ll meet a tour representative at Delhi airport and then transfer to the domestic airport for your flight to Leh. Arrive in the joint capital of Ladakh soon afterwards. Note that you’ve just landed at 3,500m above sea level, so it may take your body some time to get used to the thinner air. If you’re up to it, opt to explore the Leh Market, which sits under the imposing shadow of the Leh Palace. Fun fact: Leh is home to one of the last remaining Tibetan Buddhist populations! Then, enjoy a relaxing night at your hotel.

Explore Thikse Gompa, Shey Village, Shanti Stupa

Wake up before the sun paints the sky with golden hues and head to Thikse Gompa. Witness the monks gathering for their prayer ritual (Puja). Admire the 12-story monastery complex as the sun rises before heading to a local restaurant for breakfast, and then enjoy a 2-hour stroll to the former ancient capital of Ladakh, Shey. Marvel at the array of Chorten dotting the tiny village. After lunch at the hotel, you’ll head to the ever-so towering Leh Palace. Complete your sightseeing tour with a visit to the Shanti Stupa, an architectural wonder that emulates an artistic masterpiece.

Drive to Nubra Valley

After breakfast, hop in your mode of transportation for a 5-6-hour drive to Nubra Valley. En route, you’ll pass a surplus of remarkable views, especially when you reach Khardungla Pass, the world’s highest drivable road. Eventually, the scenery will unfold into Shyok Valley. Shortly after, you’ll cross a bridge, and Nubra Valley will envelop you. In the late afternoon, you’ll arrive in Tegar or Kyegar (local name). Check-in at either Hunder Camp or a local hotel. Spend the rest of the afternoon basking and relaxing in the nearby Panamik Hot Springs.

Day trip to Deskit

Enjoy breakfast before heading to the headquarters of Nubra Valley, Deskit. Check out the 515-year-old monastery towering over the valley. Go back to Hunder and look out for Bactrian camels. You may even get a chance to ride one! Later on, visit a 265-year-old monastery, Samstanling Monastery, before the end of the day.

Begin the trek

Get ready for your first day of hiking on this tour. Twist through the ravine until you reach Skarchen, where shepherd’s huts dot the land. Catch a glimpse of Saser Kangri, the dramatic peak that soars at 7,600 meters. After it all, spend the night in the wild, next to the confluence of two rivers.

Hike to Hunder Dok

Today’s hike winds along a 2-hour-long path in the ravine to Wachan village crossing. From here, begin climbing up until you reach the village of Dok Yongma. Pass through lush fields coated in green until you get to the hidden town of Hunder Dok. You’ll find it strange that a village the size of Hunder Dok sits tucked into the Himalayas. Admire the fields of barley, wheat, and potatoes spanning the land here.

Hike to Tanglasgo

Begin your trek with a charming walk along the bubbling stream, which carries you out of the village. Shortly after, you’ll come across a junction for two valleys, Thanglasgo and Snui Sumdo. Head towards Thanglasgo and follow a stream. After a gradual ascent, you’ll reach your destination for the night. Look out for yak, sheep, and goats roaming the land!

Hike to Sniu Sumdo

Enjoy a delicious breakfast before heading to Sniu Sumdo! Keep your eye out for blue sheep, marmots, and more woodland creatures scattered across the land. Today you will reach 4,400m above sea level.

Relax in Sniu Sumdo

Rest your feet today and enjoy basking in the surroundings around Sniu Sumdo. You will embark on a short walk to the nearby lake for a chilled-out picnic lunch.

Hike to Jhingmoche

Get ready to climb to 4, 500m above sea level on your hike from Sniu Sumdo to Jhingmoche. Meander across pastures and along a stream until you reach your campground for the night.

Hike to Lasermo North Base

Embark on a romantic journey through flowers, meadows, and spots with rocks as you trek along the Hundar stream. Pass by the men and women residing in the shepherd's huts with their cows, sheep, and goats.

Hike to Lasermo South Base

Nubra Valley is one of the most visited valleys in Ladakh. Famous for its dramatic landscapes, the valley offers some of the awe-inspiring vistas. Just about 120 km away from the Leh city, the valley is one of the most picturesque locations in this region. With humongous mountains, barren landscapes, roughed lands, monasteries, desert, and pretty villages, you will be stunned by the alluring beauty of this valley. It gives you a surreal feeling while witnessing the wonders of nature. Located in the North East Side of Ladakh , the valley is an ideal place for the nature lovers and photographers. The picture perfect postcard destination gives you endless shades to capture into your lens. The nature has bestowed scenic beauty in abundance here. Whether you are a tourist, seasoned traveler, biker or a photographer, this valley gives you enough reasons to get dazed, charmed and mesmerized by its unreal natural mystery.

Lake in Nubra Valley, Ladakh

It takes five and half hours via the Khardung La Pass to reach Nubra Valley from Leh. During your road trip to the valley, your eyes will pop up with each turn. It is worth spending hours on this road. Encircled by the Himalayan ranges, you will witness the continuous change in landscapes, green pastures, wandering yaks and hardly any human interference throughout the journey. Due to its proximity to the border, the Indian tourists need an ILP (Inner Line Permit) and Foreign Nationals require PAP (Protected Area Permit) to visit the valley. It is advisable to acclimatize at least two days in Leh before you head out for the Nubra valley to avoid AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness).

3 day Itinerary & Travel Guide for Sightseeing

The compelling destination like Nubra Valley offers a lot to see and do if you are not one of those who is always in the rush to tick off their destinations. It requires time to indulge in the luxury of the place. Hence, it demands slow travel. To soak in the aura of the appealing beauty, you need at least 3 days to satiate your travel hunger. I would not suggest anyone to opt for a day trip to Nubra Valley from Leh. Because a day trip is not justified when it comes to sightseeing in Nubra valley. Day 1 : Three day Itinerary & Travel Guide for Sightseeing

After attending the famous Naropa Festival in Leh and spending almost a week in the capital of Ladakh, I headed towards the popular Nubra Valley. I didn’t want to explore the valley in a jiffy. So, I decided to spend 3 days exploring places in and around the valley. The first day was quite relaxing as I didn’t want to rush through things and rather enjoyed the basking sun and wonderful view during my road trip accessed by the snowbound Khardung-La Pass.

Khardung La Pass

The falsely famed as “The Highest Motorable Pass in the World” , the Khardung La Pass is one of the top tourist destinations in Ladakh. It is one of the oldest motorable passes in India and the world. Located around 40 km away from the Leh city, the famed pass is one of the top attractions in Ladakh. Opened in the year 1988 for civilian traffic, it is the gateway to the Nubra valley. If you are travelling during the peak tourist season in Ladakh, you may witness traffic jam on your way to the Khardung La pass. The tourists go berserk clicking that one photograph in front of the signboard at the Khardung La pass. You will not find an empty spot at the top.

What I loved about the high altitude pass was the teasing views of the mountain ranges and the gorgeous valleys. There is an Army run canteen on the top that serves free tea to tourists and a souvenir shop in case if you want to buy anything. Due to its high altitude, it is advisable not to spend more than 15 minutes at the Khardung La Pass as you may hit AMS due to high altitude.

Road Trip to Nubra Valley

When it comes to the scenic roads in India, the road between Leh and Nubra Valley will certainly be considered as one of the most visually charming roads in India. Your eyes will glitter with joy when you embark on this five and half hours of road trip. You can’t take your eyes off from the surroundings. As soon as you leave Leh, you will be treated with layers of snow-capped mountains, blooming valley, sun-kissed weather and twisting road along with it. The jagged mountains, rocky slopes, patchy fields, wandering yaks gazing aimlessly, silent river beds and small settlements are your constant companions. The sound of wind is the only soothing noise to your ears. The wind in your hair and the wish to explore this magnificent valley, makes you travel miles from the urban habitation. You can also stop for a quick tea break in Khardung village, a little ahead of the Khardung La Pass.

Breathtaking lake, Nubra Valley

Crossing the picturesque villages and valleys along with Shyok River, you enter the vast uninhabited hinterlands. The landscape suddenly changes as you advance towards the valley. You will be treated with flatland. A few km ahead of the flatland, you reach the famous Diskit town, the headquarters of the Nubra valley. Just before the Diskit monastery, don’t forget to stop by the stunning lake where you see the reflections of the mountain ranges and the fluffy cotton ball like clouds. People generally ignore this spot, but I found it one of the spectacular sights in Nubra Valley.

After a long road trip, you can go easy on the first day and opt for relaxing at the resort/hotel or home stay on the first day rather than stepping out to explore.

Day 2 :Three day Itinerary & Travel Guide for Sightseeing

After a relaxing night, you are ready to explore the places in and around the valley.You can start the day by exploring the Diskit Monastery, the 106 feet tall Maitreya Buddha, followed by Sumur and Panamik. Spend the night at Diskit or Hunder, depending on your accommodation location.

One of the main attractions in Nubra Valley, the Diskit monastery is a must visit place.Perched high above the town, on the craggy hillock, you can drive up to the monastery. The flattering hanging prayer flags, the white washed chortens , soothing sounds of the mantras create a peaceful environment up there. More than anything, the breathtaking views of the Nubra valley are worth visiting this monastery for. The Diskit Monastery is also known as Diskit Gompa. It is the oldest and largest Buddhist monastery in the Nubra Valley. The Diskit Monastery was founded by the Changzem Tserab Zangpo in the 14th century. He was a disciple of Tsong Khapa. The Monastery belongs to the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism.

One can’t ignore the giant Maitreya Buddha statue in the valley. It is one prominent landmark of the valley. 106 feet impressive and tall Maitreya Buddha at Diskit attracts thousands of tourists every year. Facing the Shyok River, the statue sits tall with a height of 32 meters and gives jaw-dropping views of the valley from here. The best time to capture this gigantic Buddha statue is during sunset.

Sumur Village

After the Diskit monastery, you can head towards the Sumur village. It is one of the prettiest sights in the valley. The main attraction of the village is the Samstanling Gompa, located above the village at the foot of barren mountains. Built in the year 1840, though the construction of the monastery looks modern, yet it retains the spiritual aura. The monastery houses around 100 monks. It has two main prayer halls. You can opt for a little detour which will land you in another small village called Kygar, also known as Tegar. The crumbling Zamskhang is now being restored and is regarded as a Palace. It was home to the local governor way back in the 19th century (when Ladakh’s royal family still resided in Leh’s palace), and is located in the same village. The Sumur Village is also known for its sand dunes.

Panamik Village

Next stop is Panamik, known mainly for hot springs. The Panamik is the last village in Nubra valley and open to tourists. 22 kilometres from Sumur, the beautiful Panamik village is another tourist destination in the valley. The Panamik village serves as a base for the trek to the 260 year old Ensa Monastery, which is known for Buddhist murals. You can also hike 15 to 20 minutes to reach the spectacular and sacred Yarab Tso Lake there. The Panamik village is a good place to buy Pashmina shawls, woolen socks and dry fruits as they are inexpensive as compared to other places in the region.

Day 3 :Three day Itinerary & Travel Guide for Sightseeing

The 3 rd day in the valley can be dedicated to visiting Turtuk Village and Hunder desert. These two places will take the entire day to explore. You can start early after breakfast and can return to your accommodation after sunset. While exploring Turtuk village, you have to also keep a tap of the time if you don’t want to miss the astounding sunset scene in Hunder desert. So it is advisable to leave Turtuk after lunch to reach Hunder on time.

Turtuk Village

When in Nubra Valley, visiting Turtuk,the remote village, is a must. Inhabited by the Balti people, this village was open for tourists only in 2010. Untouched by time, this village introduces you to the Balti Muslim culture and gives you a rare opportunity to meet Balti people and see their lifestyle. Located on the bank of Shayok River, Turtuk is home to around 300 families, who live in this ‘border village’ right on the boundary of the Pakistan-administered region of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Turtuk is hardly 10 km away from the northern most village named Thang . Turtuk was part of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir until 1971. Flanked by the towering and craggy Karakoram Mountains, the walk around the fields of buckwheat and barley, the scattered little houses, tiny alleyways make it worth your visit to this distant village. The village houses a Balti Heritage museum , showcasing the Balti culture.

Turtuk is the gateway to Siachen Glacier and one of the sensitive locations. The idyllic village also houses the Royal Palace. Tourists are allowed to visit the palace and meet the king. It is highly advisable to take permission to click Balti people in the village. With the increasing tourists influx lately, the village has started building home stays and restaurants for travelers. Don’t forget to buy apricots from Turtuk.

I haven’t seen such eye-arresting visuals in my life until I landed in the cold desert of Hunder, just before sunset. Located 7 km from Diskit, visiting Hunder desert is mandatory. It is one of the most photogenic places in the world. It can be over-crowded in peak seasons.The Bactrian Double Humped Camels grazing a dune-like stretch, changing shades of sun rays, reflections of the same in the rugged mountains, hanging fluffy cotton balls like clouds in the unbelievably blue sky, green vegetation here and there, it paints the most fascinating pictures of nature.

I was awe-stuck there. All I did was witness the unfolding drama of nature and became part of the transition. This place was magical and is also referred to as ‘the Desert in the Sky’. Hunder lies on the ancient silk route. You can opt to stay in Hunder instead of Diskit. It has a good number of desert camps and guest houses for tourists.

• How to reach

Nubra Valley is located around 120 km from Leh City . You have to hire a private taxi, shared cab or if you are biker, you can opt for a bike ride. There is local bus service as well if you are on a budget trip. It takes five and half hour generally, but it entirely depends on the number of breaks you take throughout your journey. It may take long. The most common route is Leh – Khardung La Pass – Khardung Village – Khalsar – Diskit .

Hiring taxi service in Ladakh is a pretty expensive affair. It becomes easier when you share the taxi fare with a co-traveler. The newly launched  Ladakh shared taxi booking system  helps you find other travelers to share the cost and space that not only saves you money, but also allows you to meet other travellers across the globe.

The average altitude of the valley is about 10,000 ft. above sea level .

•   Best Time to Go

The peak tourist season starts from May to August . Though I visited in the month of September and I prefer this month only. It is less crowded and you can see the valley adorning gorgeous autumn colors.

• Where to stay

There is a considerable amount of hotels, guest houses and home-stays available in the valley. Diskit being the headquarters, you will find the maximum numbers of accommodations here. There are guest houses in Hunder, Sumur and Panamik also. You can also prefer to stay in desert camp in Hunder.

I stayed in Desert Himalayan Resort in Diskit. It is a luxury resort. What I loved the most about this resort is its unique view of the gorgeous Karakoram and Ladakh mountain ranges.

Tourists need an ILP (Inner Line Permit) to enter the Nubra valley. Foreign Nationals require PAP (Protected Area Permit) to visit places in Ladakh. You can apply online for the permits. Here is the official website www.lahdclehpermit.in . The Residents of Jammu & Kashmir and the children below 12 years don’t require permit to visit protected areas of Leh district. Even though you can choose to apply online, you still need to visit Leh DC Office or Tourist Information Center for verification of your permits and get them stamped.

• Mobile Phone Network

You must know that BSNL Postpaid network works in Nubra Valley, though it has a weak connection in places. Currently, Airtel Postpaid (2G internet in Hunder and Diskit) & JIO Postpaid ( 3G connectivity in Diskit and Hunder) are also working in Nubra Valley.

There is J&K (Jammu & Kashmir Bank) ATM in Diskit and Hunder. You will also find SBI (State Bank Of India) ATM in Partapur (6 km ahead of Hunder).

• Patrol Pump

Diskit has a petrol pump. It is mostly operational. But you are advised to tank up on your start from Leh.

• Medical Facilities

Diskit has a hospital to provide basic medical facilities if required. There is also an Army hospital in Hunder in case of any emergency.

Since we are using the Internet for a great many things including shopping to online booking of flights and hotel rooms. The need for a system that would ensure that the people making the bookings are actually who they say they are is important. The system should verify ID online. Once served as a transit area for traders on the silk route, Nubra Valley, is now a must visit place for any trekker. Walking through breathtaking gorges and large meadows of the Nubra valley, our trek passes through Lasermo La (5400m), an eternally snow bound pass connecting  Nubra and Indus valleys.    Nubra, the name of the valley and the town as well, is a tri-armed valley located to the north east of Ladakh nestling between the tall Saltoro and Karakoram ranges. Locally and originally, the valley is named as Ldumra that means the valley of flowers. The flat and eloquent Nubra Valley is being criss-crossed along the Khardung La(5400m) granting the winding channels of the Shayok and Nubra Rivers.

NOTE:- All the itineraries can be customized to suit your own special interests, preferences, abilities, extension and reduction of numbers of days.

Day 1: Delhi - Leh (3501m)

Our services start with your arrival at Leh airport. Meet & greet and transfer to the Hotel. Welcome drink on arrival. We recommend you completely relax for the rest of the day to enable yourselves to acclimatize to the rarefied air at the high altitudeanda successful trek in Ladakh requires you to acclimatize well with high altitude, tourist can explore the Leh market and shanti stupa in the evening only if you feel fine. O/N hotel

Day 2: Leh (Full day monasteries & palaces tour) 112kms

After breakfast take a full day excursion to renowned monasteries and palaces of Ladakh region. Founded in 1433 by Palden Sherab, Thiksey monastery the beautiful village of Thiksey, dominated by an imposing Gelugpa monastery. This Thiksey monastery majestically overlooks the valley, a magnificent group of about 80 monks; discovery of the beautiful inner courtyard which distributes access to the various temples. The most amazing is certainly the temple of Maitreya with its gigantic interior statue which covers all floors of the building. To join the next site, we will take the path of school children.

Founded in 1632 by Lama Staktsang Raspa, Visit Hemis Monastery, it is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery of the Drukpa Lineage. The monastery houses an amazing collection of the age-old relics such as the idol of Lord Buddha made up of copper gilt, gold and silver stupas It holds the distinction of being the biggest as well as the wealthiest monastery of Ladakh. The annual Hemis festival honoring Padmasambhava is held here in June.

On the way back to Leh visit Shey (Built in 17th century by king Deldan Namgyal) capital of ancient Ladakh, is an interesting complex whose importance is still measured by the quality of the paintings and the astonishing quantity of chortens or other votive monuments that surround it, especially the copper gilt statue of lord Buddha. The Rock-carved statue of five Buddha can be seen below the palace on the roadside, which was probably carved during the reign of Singay Namgyal.

And the Stok Palace built in 1825th by king Tsespal Tundup Namgyal , residence of the present kings of Ladakh. Transformed into a museum, the collections presented evoke a recent past where the royal family ruled over this valley. O/N hotel.

Day 3: Leh-Lower Indus Valley -Lamayuru (3510m) 152kms

After breakfast drive to Lamayuru enroute visit Likir, also known as lu-Khyil gompa, the Likir Monastery was ordered to build by the 5th king of Ladakh Lhachen Gyalpo and was thus founded by Lama Duwang Chosje in 1065. The monastery is of the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism, visit Alchi temple Renowned as the oldest Buddhist learning centre, the Alchi Gompa is one of the magnificently built monasteries in Ladakh. Located 70 kilometres west of Leh on the banks of the Indus River, it is also the largest and most famous of the gompas built by Tibetan translator Rinchen Zangpo in 11th century, continue drive to visit the mesmerizing Moon landscapes and the Lamayuru monastery renowned as Tharpa Ling which means the ‘place of freedom’; Lamayuru monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in Ladakh. Arahat Nimagon blessed the site and Naropa founded the monastery in the 11th century . O/N hotel

Day 4: Lamayuru-Umla (3250m) 120kms

After the Breakfast drive to Umla, via visiting Rizong, according to popular belief, Guru Padmasambhava along with other lamas used to meditate in the caves around Rizong in isolation, surviving on two times meal a day and avoiding any contact with the outside world. Before building the monastery in 1831, Lama Tsultim Nima started a hermitage at the site to teach monks about Buddhism, visit a nunnery, known as Chulichan (Chomoling), is under the cover of the monastery, where 20 nuns or the Chomos reside and worship at the temples of the monastery, perform chores like milking, spinning wool and getting oil for the temple lamps. Arrive at Umla at evening . O/N camp

Day 5: Umla-Taru (3600m) 5-6hrs

Umla village from where we start our trek; we follow the trail that goes towards a small pass (4150m) from top of the pass we can have a beautiful view of the valley; then the trail goes a steep descent towards Taru village.O/N camp

Day 6: Taru- Murubuk (3800m) 6-7hrs

Today after breakfast we start a gradual climb towards a pass; at times the trail will be steep at some sections. We reach to the top of the pass and enjoy the scenic view of Stok mountain range; then we follow the trail that descents towards the Phyang Monastery. After a steep descend we reach Phyang Monastery and visit the monastery; located on a hilltop just like Likir Monastery and belongs to the Dregung Order. The monastery also has a 900 year old museum which has a rich collection of Chinese, Tibetan and Mongolian artifacts. Afterwards we continue our walk towards the Murbuk. O/N camp

Day 7: Murubuk-Pullu. (4800m) 5-6hrs

This morning after breakfast we start a gradual climb that leads us to a stream which we will be crossing and after crossing the river we enter to a gorge and climb for some 2hrs which will take us to the Pullu. O/N camp

Day 8: Pull- Lasermo La Base (4800m) 5-6hrs

This day the trail goes a steep climb towards the pass of Lasermo La (5350m); early morning we start with a gradual climb as the trail goes over the boulders and later with a steep ascent to reach the top of the pass Lasermo La. From the top we will be blessed with a stunning view of Karakoram mountain range. We then descend towards the base of the pass where we camp for the night. O/N camp

Day 9: Lasermo La Base- Hunder Dok (4100m) 5-6hrs

Today the trail is easy walk through meadows and sometimes over rocks; the trail is along the Hundar stream most of the time. On the way we pass through shepherd’s huts where the villagers of Hundar Dok stays with their livestock during summer where we can try Ladakhi buttersalt tea and some cheese. Then we continue walking towards our beautiful Hunder Dok. O/N camp

Day 10: Hunder Dok- Hunder (3500m) 5hrs

This morning after breakfast we head towards the village of Hundar; the trail moves further into the impressive gorge after crossing one wooden bridge. It is a gentle descent towards Skarchan at the left side of a river. Path continues for about two hours through this gorge and finally opens at the Hunder Village with views on the Sand dunes from the distance. We reach to our campsite and our trek ends here and we say final goodbye to some of our staff. O/N camp

Day 11: Hunder-Turtuk -Hunder (3050m) 160kms

After breakfast drive to Turtuk, the last village on the road accessible by civilians. As you enter Turtuk, you will know what it means to be “frozen in time”. One of the gateways to Siachen Glacier, this village was captured by Indians Army in war of 1972 with Pakistan. Drive back to Hunder. O/N Camp

Day 12: Sumur-Diskyid-Samstanling (3050m) 90kms

Today we explore Nubra Valley; we start with Hunder which is famous for its sand dunes and for (double-humped) Bactrian camels. Then we head to Diskyid monastery located on a hilltop, this is the oldest and largest monastery in Nubra valley and belongs to Gelugpa sect( founded in the 14th century by Changsem Sherab Zangpo) . Then we move towards Samstanling Monastery located in Sumur village, built in early 19th century by Lama Tsultim Nyima. Day 13: Hunder- Khardung La (5400m) –Leh (3501m) 135kms

Morning we have breakfast and drive towards Leh en-route we cross Kharzong La. The drive is quite interesting loaded with breathtaking views of snow-peak mountains range and it takes us to the world’s highest motor-able pass of Kharzong La (5400m); here we stop for some time and then continue our drive towards Leh.O/N hotel

Free day for personal activities. O/N hotel

Day 15: Leh-Delhi

Early morning transfer to Leh airport to board flight back to destination. Tour ends with sweets memories.

For the more adventurous a drive to either Manali or Srinagar can also be arranged on request. The road journey is covered in two or more days with an overnight halt at either Sarchu or Jispa, which lies on the Leh-Manali highway, or Kargil, which lies on the Leh-Srinagar highway.

Ladakh is very safe, tourist friendly and cheering place, but still you need to take care of some preparations which can make your tour even better and memorable: Carry headache, stomachache, anti-vomiting tablets with you. Please respect the culture of Ladakh. We are providing world class services in the secluded place, which is similar to an oasis, is very difficult and challenging. Still we try our best to bring cheer on your faces.

Eating and Drinking Whilst camping, the staff will bring a hot drink (usually tea) to your tent each morning. When you reach camp in the afternoon tea and biscuits will be served. At breakfast, dinner and in the afternoons, there is a choice of hot drinks. Breakfasts typically include cereal, toast and jam, eggs and porridge. Lunch on trek is usually served as a picnic en route (except on shorter days when it is in camp). Lunch and dinner typically include soup to start, followed by a variety of hot dishes (both local and western) such as potatoes/chips, vegetables, curry, pasta, rice, dal and paneer (cottage cheese). At dinner time a dessert such as tinned fruit and custard, fritters or cake is also be served. Note:- that although some meals will include meat, it is not as readily available while camping.

Drinking Water Staying hydrated is important when undertaking any physical activity but particularly so at altitude where it is generally recommended to drink at least 3-4 litres per person per day.

We strongly encourage you not to buy bottled water as this contributes to the growing problem of plastic pollution in Ladakh. In Leh there is a shop called Dzomsa which sells safe drinking water. Your leader will show you where this is on your first day in Leh.

During the trek the cooks will collect and boil drinking water from the mountain streams and fill up your water bottles for you, but you may need to collect water during the day and may wish to use your own water purification treatment as well.

We also suggest that you may like to bring a reusable bottle with a wide opening (Nalgene or similar)

Weather The above weather chart for Leh shows average temperatures only – it does not reflect extremes of heat and cold. Generally the weather is good in Ladakh during the summer time, with warm to very hot sunny days (up to 30ºC/35ºC+) with cooler nights depending on the altitude (it can reach freezing point at some higher places in September). There is, however, the possibility of rain, and you should be prepared for this. The sun is very strong at these altitudes and some of the days on trek can be extremely hot.

Ladakh, though technically part of the Tibetan plateau and classified as a high altitude desert, can and does occasionally experience the effects of the Indian monsoon. Although the departures are timed to coincide when the weather is normally good, you should remember that in any mountain area the weather is never wholly predictable and you should be prepared and equipped to deal with any differences in weather beyond the conditions described above.

Note:- While on a trek or expedition in a remote area if any client suffers from altitude sickness or any other serious injury, the sirdar/guide sends a runner to the nearest telephone/army post/road head to ask for help. Emergency evacuation becomes necessary in the following cases:High Altitude Sickness – If the client suffers from High Altitude Sickness, he/she needs to descend immediately. Injury – In case the client is badly injured – broken bones/fractures or sickness like thrombolysis (blood clotting), paralysis, loss of eyesight – in these cases as well he/she needs to be evacuated/descend immediately.

Detailed Itinerary:

DAY 1:  Arrival in Leh

Located at an altitude of 3,500 m, Leh is a part of the newly formed Union Territory Ladakh. As you reach Leh, you will be greeted by our team. In the evening, you will be briefed on the plan and the other formalities. Post checking in to your hotel, you can retire for the day.

Day 2: Acclimatization walk to Shanti Stupa or Leh Palace

Today's plan is to help you acclimatize yourself to the altitude. You can spend the day sightseeing in Leh and visit the very famous and popularly photographed Shanti Stupa, a sacred Buddhist Stupa in Leh. Stay the night Leh and prep yourself for the trek the next day.

Day 3:  Drive to Hundar via Khardung La Time Taken:  4-5 hr

The day with a scenic drive from Leh to Hundar, passing through the famous Khardung La, one of the highest motorable passes in the world. Enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains as you descend into the Nubra Valley. Reach Hundar, a picturesque village known for its sand dunes and Bactrian camels. Overnight stay at a guesthouse or camp in Hundar.

Day 4:  Drive Hunder to Skarchen and trek to Hunder Dok Time Taken:  4-5 hr Altitude:  4,010m

Start the day with a drive from Hundar to Skarchen. From Skarchen, begin your trek to Hunder Dok, a beautiful campsite located amidst the enchanting landscapes of the Nubra Valley. Trek through the rugged terrain, crossing streams and enjoying the magnificent views of the surrounding mountains. Set up camp at Hunder Dok and spend the night in the lap of nature.

Day 5:  Trek Hunder Dok to Thanglasgo Time Taken:  6-7 hr Altitude:  4,500m

Continue your trek, leaving Hunder Dok behind and making your way towards Thanglasgo. Traverse through meadows, rocky trails, and picturesque valleys as you gradually gain altitude. Enjoy the panoramic views and keep an eye out for the diverse flora and fauna that inhabit this region. Reach Thanglasgo and set up camp for the night.

Day 6:  Trek Thanglasgo to Lasermo La base  Time Taken:  6 hr Altitude:  4,800m

Today's trek takes you from Thanglasgo to the base of the mighty Lasermo La or Pass. Experience the thrill of ascending higher altitudes as you make your way through challenging terrains. The stunning views of the surrounding peaks and valleys will inspire and motivate you. Set up camp at the Lasermo La base and spend the night surrounded by the Himalayan grandeur.

Day 7:  Trek to Lasermo La  and descend to Lasermo La's south base Time Taken:  6 hr Altitude:  5,400m/4,800m

The highlight of the trek awaits as you ascend the Lasermo La or Pass, standing at approximately 5,400 meters (17,716 feet). Reach the summit of the pass and be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayas. Descend towards Lasermo La's south base, where you will set up camp for the night. Enjoy the serenity of the mountains and relish the sense of achievement.

Day 8:  Trek to Morobuk and drive to Leh drive to Leh Trek Time:  4-5hr Altitude:  3,300 m / 10,800 ft to 3,200 m / 10,400 ft  Travel Distance:  70 Km Travel Time:  40min

Resume your descent from Lasermo La's south base and trek towards Morobuk. Experience the changing landscapes and bid farewell to the mountains as you make your way back to civilization. From Morobuk, embark on a scenic drive back to Leh. Upon reaching Leh, relax and celebrate the successful completion of the Lasermo La Trek. Overnight stay at the hotel in Leh.

Day 9:  Leh & then Home.

Today, this unimaginable experience of taking on one of India's most challenging and exhilarating trail comes to an end. You wake up leisurely, freshen up, check out from the hotel and head to the airport from where you head back home.

• All trekkers going for Chadar Trek must spend at least three nights in Leh or acclimatization.
• The boarding pass will be verified at the time of Pre Medical Check-up in Leh, so please make sure you keep them safe with you
• If the minimum group strength is not met, we have the right to cancel the departure. Should you wish to customize the trip as per your preferred date, separate charges will apply.

Risk and Liability 

We will endeavor to make your program smooth and as pleasant as possible. However, the entire course of trekking depends on the ranges of the mighty mountains, physical health, and environmental conditions. Therefore, TrekNomads shall not be responsible for any changes in the itineraries due to unavoidable circumstance and natural disasters such as landslide, road blockage, flood, snowing, cancellation of flight and delay, any types of sickness including altitude sickness.

Fitness Criteria 

This trek requires a good level of fitness.

To register for this trek you are required to complete a 5K run in under 35 minutes. Once you do register, please share the run details with our Trek Captain. 

If you're not already following a fitness regime, you would need to follow the regime that will be shared with you. The training routine is spread over four months and you would be expected to work out at least 4 times a day. The regime is designed to help you climb smarter even in higher altitudes. The regime consists of a good combination of exercises that works on all parts of your body including - Upper Body, Core, Endurance, Lower Body, Shoulder strength and along with streamlining your breathing pattern. When followed religiously, you can rest assured that you will be ready for the trek. Not only does this regime help you with the trek, but it will also help you inculcate a sense of fitness in your day-to-day life. 

Do’s and Don’ts:

• We believe in leaving the mountains in a better condition, which is why we follow a no-litter policy on our treks. Each trekker will have to bring back the waste that is created during the trek.
• Trekking is best enjoyed when you’ve worn comfortable clothes. Try and avoid wearing Jeans, bright colours and heavy apparels as much as possible.
• A lighter backpack always helps you have a better trek, try and carry just as much as needed.
• Always be in sight of your trek lead, if you feel the need to stop for any reason at all, please keep the trek lead informed.
• If you do come across any reptiles, animals or even insects during the trek, please keep your calm and let it patiently pass by. Any kind of noise and panic will scare them as well.
• Do not venture out into the forest/waterfalls on your own as it may be dangerous.
• Trekking is a good adventure, having said that, it is our primary responsibility to take good care of ourselves and be compassionate towards fellow trekkers
• If, at any point, during the trek, you feel uneasy or unwell, please inform the trek lead immediately
• Tune in to the sounds of nature while on a trek and avoid carrying speakers or playing music during the course of the trek
• To help you enjoy the trek to the fullest, we avoid smoking and consumption of alcohol, and other intoxicants during the course of the trek

Nubra Valley Trek

Destination, duration (in days), accommodation, 82000/- per person.

Nubra, the name of the valley and the town as well, is a tri-armed valley located to the northeast of Ladakh nestling between the tall Saltoro and Karakoram ranges. Locally and originally, the valley is named Ldumra that means the valley of flowers. The flat and eloquent Nubra Valley is being crisscrossed along the Khardung La Pass granting the winding channels of the Shyok and Nubra Rivers.

For the Nubra Valley Trek which is definitely one of the most varied and beautiful treks in the whole world, crossing the major two passes along the Himalayas at an altitude of 15,000 ft (4575 m) is actually encircling along the edges of the Indus Valley down the Zanskar Valley. Trekking along the Nubra Valley is actually passing through the Zanskar terrain, the terrain which changes from incredibly narrow valleys to wide-open vast expanses. Along the trails of the trek, one can find the decorated “chortens” (shrines) and “mani” (prayer) walls that further exemplify the region’s total immersion in Buddhist culture.

Once served as a transit area for traders on the silk route, Nubra Valley, is now a must-visit place for any trekker. With its sand dunes to double-humped camels and from extravagant river valleys to its lush green barley fields, it is truly a delight to every eye. Driving across the Khardungla, the highest motorable pass our route takes us to the heart of the Nubra valley, Hundar, near to the Diskit monastery from where we start our trek. Walking through breathtaking gorges and large meadows of the Nubra valley, our trek passes through Lasermo La (5400m), an eternal snowbound pass connecting Nubra and Indus Valleys.

Further, the upper end of the Nubra Valley trek is so rewarding with spectacular views of the jagged snow-capped peaks before crossing the 5150m Kongmaru La (Pass) and descending to the famous Hemis Monastery to bring to the end of the trek which can also be followed by exploring the famous towns of Leh and rafting along the Indus River for more fun.

The Nubra Valley Trek is well-known for a number of reasons, one of them being its historical significance as a former Silk Road trading route that linked Ladakh with Central Asia. At 17,585 feet in height, the trek passes via the breathtaking Khardung La Pass, which is regarded as the highest motorable road in the world. The route also passes through the gorgeous Nubra Valley, sometimes referred to as the “valley of flowers” or Ldumra. Among the spectacular count of trekking destinations in Ladakh , the Nubra Valley is among the most mesmerising Himalayan Trek.

Trekkers will see a variety of sceneries, from the broad stretches of open space to the slender valleys of Zanskar, starting at Sabu village (11,417 feet). Best Time to Explore Nubra Valley Trek in Ladakh

The best time to do Nubra Valley Trek is from mid-June to mid-October. Especially, the trek is mostly preferred in the months of July and August as the Manali-Leh and Srinagar-Leh highways are open for private vehicles. During this time, the climate approves of bright days and quiet evenings. The average temperature ranges between 20 and 30°C in the daytime. Ladakh Region Nubra Valley Trek

Arrive Delhi.  Pick up and transfer to hotel The Claridges or similar. Most flights arrive very late at night or after midnight. Please note that the tour begins at 9am day 4. Check in at 2pm, early check in will incur an additional charge.

Delhi Tour beginning at 9 am. On our Delhi tour we will see a city that has been in existence for centuries. From the beginning of time, successive layers of gifted civilizations have left their architectural marks, with the great Mogul Emperor Shah Jahan being India’s architect extraordinaire. We wander or take a rickshaw ride through Chandi Chowk (Silver Street), the colorful market street of ancient Shahjahanabad, now a bustling bazaar, followed with a visit to Raj Ghat where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated.

Our exploration of New Delhi also includes a visit to India Gate, which was built in memory of Indian soldiers killed during the First World War.  We drive pass through Rashtrapati Bhawan, which was built in the early 20th century as the Imperial residence of the Viceroy and is currently the official residence of the President of India and Parliament House. This unique circular building with huge colonnades now houses the Upper and Lower Houses of Parliament. Then, we move to Humayun’s Tomb, the first Mughal garden tomb. Visitors are immediately struck by the tomb’s resemblance to its more famous cousin – the Taj Mahal – with its four grand gateways, octagonal base-plan, soaring niche-shaped arches, lofty double domes and the symmetrical garden with its central canal. Overnight in Delhi.

Fly to Leh: (11,500ft/3,500m). After breakfast you transfer back to the domestic airport for the flight to Ladakh. This is one of the most sensational scheduled flights in the world, taking you right over the top of the Greater Himalaya before dropping down in a series of steep turns, to land at the small military airport at Leh. (flight time 1.5 hours). Leh, the capital of Ladakh, is blessed with markets, curio shops and is something of a traveler’s mecca. You will be met on arrival and transferred to local hotel. We recommend that the rest of the day be filled with gentle walks in town and resting to help adjust to the altitude. Overnight in Leh.

Fly to Leh: (11,500ft/3,500m). After breakfast you transfer back to the domestic airport for the flight to Ladakh. This is one of the most sensational scheduled flights in the world, taking you right over the top of the Greater Himalaya before dropping down in a series of steep turns, to land at the small military airport at Leh. Tour of Ladakh’s famed monastaries and palaces  

Shey Palace (15 km from Leh) The old ‘Summer Palace’ of the kings of Ladakh was built about 550 years ago by Lhachen Palgyigon, the first king of Ladakh. It stands next to the remains of a larger construction on the east side of a hill, which runs south-east towards the Indus. From the palace you can see over the fertile Indus plain northeast to Thikse Gompa and over the Indus to the Zanskar mountain range. The old Shey palace has the largest golden Buddha statue in Ladakh in its gompa. The statue is worked out of gold and gilded copper sheets, stands 12 meters high and has blue hair. King Dalden Namgyal erected it in the middle of the 17th century. The most important moment in the construction of such a figure is when the eyes are painted in and the statue can ‘see’. No artist or monk would dare to look the Buddha in the eye so the pupils are painted over the artist’s shoulder, with his back to the idol.  

Thiske Gompa (17 km from Leh) The 500-year-old Thikse monastery, perched on a hill high above the Indus, has the largest contingent of monks in Ladakh. On the right of the entrance to the main courtyard a new chapel houses an enormous 15-metre-high seated Buddha figure. About 100 yellow-cap sect monks belong to the gompa. We hope to witness the daily morning prayers preceded by the mournful sounds from the long Tibetan horns on the roof.  

Hemis Gompa (45 km from Leh) Hemis Gompa is famous far beyond the borders of Ladakh for beauty and the Hemis annual. This takes place every year with mask dances on the 9th to 11th day of the fifth Tibetan month. Hemis also has a gigantic thangka (Buddhist cloth painting), one of the largest in the world, which is only displayed to the public every 12 years at the Hemis Festival. Hemis Gompa is the largest and one of the most important in Ladakh quite apart from its annual festival. It was founded about 350 years ago by Stagtshang Rinchen, who was invited to Ladakh by King Singe Namgyal.  

Each of these monasteries are profoundly beautiful in both architecture and internal artwork. Overnight at the Hotel in Leh.  

In Leh . This morning we walk to acclimatize. Our walk brings us to Shanti Stupa , a large, white-domed Buddhist chorten perched on a hill outside of Leh , Gyamsa village, and farther to Kalon Farm and across to Leh Palace, down through the Old town of Leh back to the hotel. Y ou are free to rest for the remainder of the day. Overnight at the Hotel.  

Raft trip and Alchi visit. We drive to the Scorpochey to Nimmo (16 km /2 hrs ) for a short raft trip. This will not only give us some more time to acclimatize but a chance to see this wondrous region with a worms eye view. The journey downstream is a fascinating experience as you pass between elaborate rock formations interspersed with granite outcrops. The raft trips is about three hours, where we reach the confluence of the famed Indus and Zanskar rivers. We exit at the village of Nomu and travel to vist the great monastery (also known as a gompa) of Alchi.  

Alchi Gompa is located near the small village of phpol. It is one of the earliest monasteries built in Ladakh, dating from the 11th century. Because it was built before the invading wars began in the 15th century, Alchi was built on lowlands, rather than on a hilltop as others were, in order to protect them from marauding armies. King Rin-chen-Izghimpo, one of the first Ladakhi kings to engage in foreign relations, was the builder. Prior to construction, the Ladakhi king signed a treaty with the Gyalpo (king) of Tibet, who agreed to provide the artisans.  

The rambling monastery has six main buildings while the temple is surrounded by wooden pillars and carved woodwork of mythological animals. The woodwork is original and reflects Kashmiri influence. The walls along both sides of the Dukhang (inner building) are covered by mural paintings which are probably original to the time of the monastery’s founding. Of particular interest are the miniature scenes of royal life. The best preserved is the royal drinking scene which is one of the most remarkable to have survived anywhere in the Tibetan-speaking world. The costumes in this scene clearly depict central Asian dress and the king and queen each have a halo, a convention that appears elsewhere in Alchi and possibly shows Nestorian Christian influence from Persia. This is the only painting in Ladakh that shows central Asian influence so clearly. The chortens around Alchi gompa also contain numerous wall murals, often of Rin-chen Zang-po , meant to honour his activities as a translator in collaboration with Indian teachers of Buddhism.  

After the monastery we drive to Phyang. Overnight in Phyang Camp.  

Trek to Phyang Phu . In the morning we will visit Phyang Monastary and village followed by a a short walk to reach our first camp at Phyang Phu . Phyang Phu is area where locals bring livestock for grazing during the summer months.  

Phyangphu – South base of Lasermo 4700m (4 hours).

After a leisurely breakfast, we will continue our trek to the base of Lasermo La (pass) at 4700 m . From there we have a view of complete Stok range especially the Stok Peak at 6130m above sea level. Stok range and Ladakh range are the ranges where Leh is situated. This area is one of the major routes for crossing the Ladakh range.  

South base of Lasermo – North base via Lasermola 5400m (6-7 hours).

Today we start quite early in the morning as we need our ponies to cross the small glacier by midday. We will cross the Lasermo Pass (5400m). The top of Lasermo pass offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, the Indus valley and the Shayok Valley. The trail from the pass towards our camp passes rough moraines. The campsite is in a beautiful meadow and offer opportunities to explore and see flowers growing at high altitude.  

North base – Hundar Dok (5 hours).

Today we will walk down through a valley of meadows and flowers. Most of the time, we will be walking alongside the Hundar stream. After following the stream for a while, we will pass through shepherds’ huts, where the men and women from Hundar Dok Village live with their Yaks, cows, goats and sheep. They could be seen collecting milk, cheese, butter, wild vegetables and fuel for the winter. If you feel adventurous, you can taste the delicious milk and cheese with Tsampa . Our campsite is just above the Village of Dok Gongma (Upper Dok ).  

Hundar Upper Dok – Skarchen (5 hours).

Another beautiful day! We will pass through the villages of DokGongma , DokYokma and Wachan , which are names of different places with concentrations of scattered houses belonging to a common village known locally as Hundar Dok . We will take out time to get to camp at Skarchen , so we may visit some of the local families and can spend time exploring the villages.  

Skarchen – Hunder (4 hours)

The last day of trekking is through the beautiful Hunder Gorge, which opens up just before descending to Hunder Bridge. Before the final descent we will have a great view of SaserKangri Peak (7672m). Upon arrival check in to the tents and later visit Sumur , another pretty village on the other side of the river. Samstaling Gompa located in Samstaling was founded by Lama Tsultims Nima and the monastic community was introduced. About 50 monks are residing at this 132 years old Monastery. Overninght at Camp or Guest House.  

Explore Hundar and Tiger Valley. Early in the morning walk up to Diskit monastery to witness the morning prayer ceremony. It takes about 45 minutes through a long row of scattered chortens to reach the gompa, which is set on the highest point near the village. Belonging to the Gelugpa (yellow hat) sect, parts of the gompa, which houses 120 resident monks, are about 750 years old. The Dukhang has many statues, one of which holds the head and left arm of a Turkish invader believed to be 500 years old.  

Return to the camp for breakfast after which drive 7 kms to visit Hundar gompa. This is a small gompa belonging to the Gelug-pa sect, set amidst innumerable chortens and has a huge impressive statue of Chamba in the main prayer hall. The gompa was built at the time King Jamgyal Namgyal came here with his wife Gyal Khatun. We also explore the village, which has some beautiful old houses.  

Drive down towards the Shyok river across an extremely rough and rocky stretch of flat ground. Cross the river over a bridge and arrive at the first village of Tirith. The road from here is extremely bad all the way up to Panamik. The scenery is spectacular with the snow capped Karakoram mountains in the background. The weather being much warmer in Nubra in comparison to the Indus valley, the vegetation is thicker, with a variety of trees and flowers. Nubra is also known for its two-humped Bactrian camel which is found in these parts. The camels are left to graze in the wild during the summer months and are brought back only during the winter months when they are used as beasts of burden and for their wool.  

We visit the 150-year-old Samsthanling gompa at Sumur. It is a big complex of 7 temples including the Rimpoche’s room. Walk half an hour from the gompa to Tegar village where there is another small gompa. Walk through the village and explore its beautiful surroundings near the jungle and a small lake. Overnight at the camp or Guest House.  

Drive Hundar to Leh via Khardung La (6 hours, 18,300′ feet/5,600 m), one of the highest motorable roads in the world. The Nubra Valley was on the caravan route from Leh to Kashgar via the Sasir and Karakoram passes. Overnight at the Hotel in Leh .  

Fly Leh to Delhi: Morning you will be transferred to the airport to connect flight for Delhi. Assistance on arrival and you will be transferred to hotel and then transfer back to airport for evening flights  

Arrive home country

Day 1 – Chandigarh to Manali – Starting the Adventure

Scenic spots along the way:

• Ropar Wetlands, Ropar: Just outside the city of Chandigarh, these wetlands are a haven for biodiversity. In winter, they serve as a nesting ground for migratory birds, and post-monsoon, they are a good spot to see tortoises.
• Gobind Sagar Lake, Bilaspur: Take a slight detour off the Bilaspur junction to Zakatkhana where the lake merges into the Sutlej River. It’s a tranquil spot perfect for some quiet reflection or a quick stretch.
• Prashar Lake, Mandi: Situated at 9,000 feet, this crystal-clear lake is accessible with a short detour from the highway at Mandi. It offers panoramic views of the Dhauladhar, Pir Panjal, and Kinnaur mountain ranges. It’s also a starting point for treks into the higher Himalayas.

Local eateries to try

• Bahadur/Bhadure Ka Dhaba, Bilaspur: This well-loved local dhaba is the perfect place to sample traditional meals and quick snacks. It’s a favorite stop for many travelers and locals alike.
• Chawla’s, Mandi: Established and revered, Chawla’s offers a taste of authentic Punjabi cuisine right on the highway, making it a convenient and satisfying meal stop.

Day 2 – Manali to Sarchu 

Distance and time taken: 5 hr 1 min (177 km)

Begin your journey from Manali to Sarchu, a drive that takes about 12 hours through some challenging but breathtakingly beautiful landscapes. Given the rough roads and tricky water crossings, especially at Pagal Nala, it’s advisable not to travel during the restricted hours of 6-7 PM. Staying overnight in Sarchu after enjoying the beauty of Manali allows you to explore the area more leisurely.

The route features the magnificent Rohtang Pass, which serves as the gateway to the Lahaul and Spiti Valley in Himachal Pradesh. Situated approximately 51 km from Manali at an altitude of 3980 meters on the Manali-Keylong highway, Rohtang Pass offers spectacular views. It’s also a popular spot for adventure sports enthusiasts, offering activities like skiing, ice-skating, and paragliding.

Taking this journey slowly not only lets you adjust to the altitude gradually but also ensures you have plenty of time to soak in the dramatic scenery along the way. Settle into Sarchu for the night, preparing for another day of adventure ahead.

Key highlights along the route

Rohtang Pass: Open to tourists from April to October, travel through this pass is regulated by the Indian Army after they clear the accumulated snow, ensuring safe passage for travelers.

Atal Tunnel: Alternatively, if you’re not traveling via Rohtang Pass, you can take a route that includes the Atal Tunnel. This architectural feat is the world’s longest tunnel at high altitude and significantly cuts down the travel time between Manali and Leh, offering a faster and smoother journey experience.

Chandratal Lake: You can make a pitstop at this lake that has witnessed UFO invasions. The Chandratal lake is associated with numerous intriguing legends , folklore, and a mystery straight out of the X-Files that pique the interest of adventurers.

Sonapani Glacier and Gaypan Peaks: Just beyond Rohtang, these natural wonders offer panoramic views and a serene environment perfect for a refreshing break.

Beas Kund: This is the source of the River Beas, also a sacred site where it is believed Sage Vyas meditated. It’s easily accessible from Rohtang Pass.

Cultural Sites: Explore Gondhla Fort, Shashur Gompa, Tayul Gompa Monastery, and the Lady of Keylong viewpoint for a glimpse into the region’s rich cultural heritage.

Day 3 – Sarchu to Leh 

Distance and time taken: 6 hr 15 min (250 km)

Gear up for an early start from Sarchu as you embark on a long, but incredibly picturesque journey to Leh. 

Places to visit in the route: 

Gata Loops is a mesmerizing stretch on the Manali-Leh highway, situated at an altitude of about 17,000 feet. This unique section of the road features 21 hairpin bends that span a total distance of 10.3 km, with each bend measuring between 300-600 meters. A notable landmark along this route is the ghost temple, where travelers often leave offerings of mineral water and cigarettes to pacify the resident spirit and ensure a safe journey.

Morey Plains

Morey Plains are located along the treacherous Manali-Leh highway and stand out due to their striking flat terrain at an average elevation of 4,000 meters. It gained additional fame as a filming location for a part of the Bollywood movie “Jab Tak Hai Jaan.”

Hemis is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage. It is home to the prestigious Hemis Monastery, which was built under the patronage of Ladakhi King Sengge Namgyal. Stakna Gompa

Phyang to Hunder Trek in Leh Ladakh

Day 1 arrival at leh, altitude:- 3500 m/11,500 ft.

What is the Cancellation Policy of trek ?

If cancellations are made 30 days before the start date of the trip, 25% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.

If cancellations are made 15-30 days before the start date of the trip, 50% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.

If cancellations are made within 0-15 days before the start date of the trip, 100% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.

In case of unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions, certain trips or activities may get cancelled. In such cases operator will try their best to provide an alternate feasible. However a cash refund will not be applicable for the same.

Cancellations are strictly subjected to cancellation policies mentioned on the website & are irrespective of the date of booking.

Booking Confirmation Policy ?

The customer receives a confirmation voucher via email within 12 hours of successful booking In case the preferred slots are unavailable, an alternate schedule of the customer’s preference will be arranged and a new confirmation voucher will be sent via email. Alternatively, the customer may choose to cancel their booking before confirmation and a full refund will be processed.

Nubra Valley (Digger Trek)

Arrival on Leh Airport you will be met our representative. Meeting & assistance on arrival and transfer to hotel.

After breakfast at hotel drive to Basgo (44 km from Leh). It was an important centre in the old days, having been the capital of lower Ladakh when the kingdom was divided in the 15th & 16th centuries.

After that we drive to Likir (9 km) & visit Likir Monastery situated atop a windy cliff overlooking the beautiful village of Likir.

Alchi Monastery from Likir we drive 16 km to Alchi. Just before Alchi we drive across the mighty River Indus over the bridge & reach Ladakh's most loved Alchi Monastery. Over a century old, its wall paintings are very similar to those of the Tabo monastery in Spiti, Himachal Pradesh.. Overnight stay at hotel in Leh.

After breakfast Half day visit to Samker Gompa & Leh Bazaar,  Shanti Stupa and Leh Palace. Samker Gompa is little up in the valley, 3 Kms from Leh Town, which is open to visitors in the morning and evening only. The Gompa belongs to Yellow Sect & was founded in 18 th Century. The Gompa is the seat of the Head Lama of Ladakh & founder of yellow sect, Tson-Kha-Pa. After Sanker, visit Leh Temple & Walk back or Drive to Leh Bazaar.

After noon free for Personal activities/Shopping. Overnight in Hotel in Leh.

After breakfast drive to sakti via Shey, Thiksey and hemis Monastry. Shey – it was the ancient capital of Ladakh and even after Singge Namgyal built the more imposing palace at Leh, the kings continued to regard Shey, as their real home. The importance which was attached to Shey - the seat of Ladakh's heartland - is attested by the enormous number of Chorten about the village, particularly around the palace complex and barren plain to the north of the road. 

Thiksey – is one of the largest and most impressive Gompas. There are several temples in this Gompa containing images, stupas and exquisite wall paintings. It also houses a two - storied statue of Buddha which has the main prayer hall around its shoulder. 

Hemis – which is dedicated to Padmasambhava, what a visitor can observes a series of scenes in which the lamas, robed in gowns of rich, brightly coloured brocade and sporting masks sometimes bizarrely hideous, parade in solemn dance and mime around the huge flag pole in the center of the courtyard to the plaintive melody of the Shawn. The moan of the eleven feet horns, the boom of drums and the clash of Cymbals. Hemis was found in the 1630's by Tsang-ras-pa under the royal patronage of Singe Namgyal, Hemis is the largest and richest of the Ladakh Gompas. It nestles into the mountain side a little way up a glen in the mountains of Zanskar range.

Overnight stay at Camp at Thakthok. (12500 Ft)

Early in the morning visit Taktok Monastry till that breakfast will be ready at camp. After having breakfast trek to warila Base (Chumchar) which is 5 to 6 hrs walking distance.

Overnight at camp (14600 Ft)

Today’s trek is bit tuff. After breakfast start trek and start gradually climb towards warila Pass which is around 15400 ft from sea level. On the top of the pass one can see Karakorum Mountain range on north and Zanaskar Range on south.

Overnight at camp at Yakzipulu.

After breakfast trek down to Tangyar village where you can see a beautiful hanging Monastry belonging to yellow sect of Lamas.

Overnight at camp at Tangyar.

After breakfast start trek with through the  narrow stream up to 02 hrs after that climb small hill Digar Village.

Overnight camp at chumik yogma

After early breakfast gradually climb moderate to the foot of the Digar la several easy streams  crossing the ground flattens out and the path zigzag throught a moraine as far as the Digar La Pass (15600fts) . the decent is steep and dangerous for horses.

Overnight at Camp at Sabo Pulu.

Today is the last day for trek. Start trek downwards to sabo village crossing small streams where car will pick you up from sabo and transfer to hotel

Day free for rest and independent activities. Overnight in hotel.

In time transfer to airport to connect the flight for Delhi. Meeting and assistance at Leh Airport on Departure.

Accommodation: In Leh: Deluxe Hotel on double shearing basis. While on trek, we will use dome/alpine tents, carry mattress, camping stool, kitchen tent etc.

Meals: All meals will be provided. The meals will be a mix of Indian, Chinese & Continental.

Mules/Porters: - For carrying camping equipment, rations, vegetables and some amount of personal gear of the clients (one bag not weighing more than 15 kgs).
