Castries cruise port

Region Bahamas - Caribbean - Bermuda

Local Time 2024-05-03 18:45

Port Castries cruise ship schedule shows timetable calendars of all arrival and departure dates by month. The port's schedule lists all ships (in links) with cruises going to or leaving from Castries, St Lucia Island. To see the full itineraries (ports of call dates and arrival / departure times) and their lowest rates – just follow the corresponding ship-link.

Castries is a major port and the capital city of Saint Lucia Island - a Commonwealth country in Eastern Caribbean Sea, part of Lesser Antilles (archipelago). The island is located northeast of St Vincent island , northwest of Barbados and south of Martinique . The island has land area approx 617 km2 (238 mi2) and total population around 180,000. Castries has population around 70,000.

In August 2023, GPH/Global Ports Holding signed a 30-year concession deal to manage all cruise operations of Port Castries (locode LCCAS) along with all other destinations in the country. The deal included GPH to make investments in the port facilities' upgrades as well as the expansion of Point Seraphine's berth to be able to handle the largest cruise vessels . GPH's investments also included retail shopping at cruise port Castries (Vendor's Arcade redevelopment) and building a Fishermen's Village (at Bananes Bay).

The French were the first European settlers on the island. In 1660 they signed a treaty with the native Carib Indians. In the period 1663-1667, the island was ruled by England. In the ensuing years, Britain and France engaged in wars 14 times over St Lucia, ruling over it 7 times each. The British took definitive control of Saint Lucia in 1814. Currently, St Lucia is a parliamentary monarchy and an independent (from UK) state since 1979. The country's legal system is based on both British common law and civil law.

Castries is St Lucia's capital and biggest city, covering an area of 80 km2 (31 mi2), most of which is reclaimed land. The town was designed in a grid pattern. Port Castries Harbour can handle most types of vessels, including large cargo ships (bulk carriers, boxships ), ferries and cruise liners. Yachts may also dock, but as all other vessels, they must first clear customs. When the customs marine area is full, boats first anchor and wait at the Port's quarantine dock, then can anchor in the town or Vigie Creek Bay.

In 2017, the cruise port reported a 19,4% increase (over 2016) in passenger shipping traffic.

Other (tender) ports on St Lucia Island are Rodney Bay - Pigeon island (northernmost), Soufriere (central-west) and Vieux Fort (south). In October 2019, Carnival Corporation and RCCL-Royal Caribbean signed with the St Lucia's Government a long-term concession deal for a joint venture company to manage and operate Port Castries' cruise terminal and also to construct and operate the new cruise port Vieux Fort. The new facility will have capacity to handle even the world's biggest cruise ships .

The city is served by George Charles Airport (aka Vigie Airport). Longer international flights arrive at the island's second international airport Hewanorra Airport (Vieux Fort), with drive time to Castries ~1,5 hours. Optional helicopter service between both airports is also available. Vigie Airport is just 2 km (1 mi) north of Castries Town and has annual passenger traffic ~400,000. The airport serves Air Antilles, Air Caraibes, Air Sunshine, Caribbean Airlines, InterCaribbean Airways, and LIAT (Leeward Islands Air Transport). Regularly scheduled flights connect Castries with Martinique ( Fort-de-France ) Guadeloupe ( Pointe-a-Pitre ), Dominica ( Marigot ), St Croix ( Christiansted ), Trinidad ( Port of Spain ), BVI ( Tortola ), Antigua ( St Johns ), Barbados , Grenadines ( St Vincent ).

Regularly scheduled ferries connect Castries with Fort-de-France (Martinique) Best-known tourist attractions and landmarks include Derek Walcott Square, City Library, Government House, Fort Charlotte, large beaches (Vigie, Malabar, Choc, La Toc).

In October 2019 was officially opened Glittering Sands - a new tourist attraction at L'Oranger Bay (Anse La Raye Beach) located at ~20-min drive from Port Castries. The complex is managed by Carvalho's Cruise Services Ltd (travel agency) and offers as amenities beach chairs and umbrellas, restrooms, showers, storage lockers, bar-restaurant. Glittering Sands offers as activities like snorkeling, seakayaking, sail boating, river rafting, hiking (along the waterfalls).

One of the newest St Lucia island cruise shore excursions is riding big-wheel electric scooters along the scenic coastline. The biking tours visit Rodney Bay Marina and also Pigeon Island.

Castries cruise terminal

Cruise ships to Saint Lucia Island dock at Castries - port town on the northwestern coast. Before entering the cruise port, vessels must be first cleared by St Lucia's Airport Traffic Control Tower. This is required as the approaching liner blocks aerodrome's runway. All passenger ships dock at Pointe Seraphine, located to the north of Castries Harbour.

Even world's largest passenger liners can be berthed in Port Castries. From the seaport, downtown is at ~15-min walking distance. Know that taxi rates are controlled by country's government and are fairly expensive.

In January 2018 was completed the Port Castries expansion project. The new "dolphin berth" is located at Pointe Serafine Cruise Terminal. The new facility has capacity to handle larger cruise vessels - two Quantum-class ships berthing simultaneously (on each side of the pier). The first such RCI-Royal Caribbean  ship ( Anthem OTS ) docked here on January 13, 2018. The ship was on a 12-day Caribbean cruise (itinerary Jan 7-19) roundtrip from NYC New York to San Juan (Puerto Rico) ,  Philipsburg (St Maarten) , St Johns (Antigua) , Castries, Bridgetown (Barbados) and Basseterre (St Kitts) . Quantum-class ships have LOA length 348 m (1142 ft) and max capacity 4800 passengers plus 1300 crew.

St Lucia (Castries) Cruise Terminals and Piers Port Guide and Review (2023)

Discover where cruise ships dock or anchor in Saint Lucia (Castries). Everything you need to know about the cruise terminals in La Place Carenage and Pointe Seraphine.

By: Editor-in-Chief Update: May 30, 2023

The cruise port in St Lucia is located in Castries the main city and capital of the Island Nation. Although most cruise ships dock at one of the two piers/terminals, some large ships may also anchor just outside the bay of Castries.

Where Cruise Ships Dock

Most cruise ships of all sizes dock in a small bay by Castries - the capital of St Lucia. There are two main piers (and Terminals) in St Lucia's main cruise port. The Pointe Seraphine on the northern side and the pier at La Place Carenage right downtown - the exit gates literally open to the main street. Very seldom, small ships may also dock at the Industrial Port.

Anchor and Tender

It may also happen that mega-ships like Queen Mary II will anchor outside the bay and passengers are tendered by their own boats to the eastern corner of La Place Carenage.

Services and Amenities

Both piers are serviced by Cruise Port Terminals with all basic amenities - Tourist Information Kiosk, Taxi Dispatch, Tours and Excursions Desk, Restrooms, Cafes, Bars, Car Rentals, Restaurants, the best duty-free shopping in St. Lucia and also souvenir shops and some local crafts.

Alternative Ports - Soufriere

Although Castries is the main cruise port in St. Lucia, some ships may have an additional stop next to Soufriere to pick up passengers on full-day tours to the famous Pitons and other attractions close by.

Some small and luxurious cruise lines like Seadream, Windstar or Seabourn also call at Soufriere - instead of Castries - anchoring and tendering passengers to the old capital of St. Lucia. Both Marigot Bay and Rodney Bay (Pigeon Island) are also alternative anchoring ports of call.

The Cruise Port Terminal at La Place Carenage is ideally located to explore landmarks of Castries such as the Catholic Cathedral, the Derek Walcott Square, the Central Library or the Craft Market which all can be visited in slightly over one hour.

La Place Carenage, Castries

On the ground floor of the Cruise Port Terminal, there are quite a few duty-free shops. Besides the usual ones found almost everywhere in the Caribbean - Diamonds International among others - liquor, spirits, tobacco and souvenir shops do offer some of the best prices in the Caribbean.

The cruise traveler interested in handcrafts and less touristic souvenirs, should walk out of the terminal, turn left and explore the Craft Market - no more than 500 feet (150 meters) away.

Inside the terminal, on the first floor, the cruise traveler will also find the very popular the Caribbean Pirates Restaurant & Bar. Unfortunatelly, it has been closed since the pandemic but there are rummors that it will open soon.

Besides the cuisine of Chef Robbiy, the restaurant has Free Wi-Fi and a wide veranda overlooking the pier. If moored at Point Seraphine Cruise Porte and no ships are docked at La Porte Carenage (which happens quite often) the views of the bay are a wonderful sight - many savvy cruisers (as well as crew and officers) cross the bay on a water taxi to savor truly genuine Saint Lucian flavors al fresco.

Pointe Seraphine Cruise Port Terminal

The Pointe Seraphine Terminal is larger than La Place Carenage. It is also more spacious, with a mix of covered and open air areas and with quite a few enticing attributes for the cruise traveler to relax after a day exploring St. Lucia and before getting back onboard. In fact, many a cruise traveler that has been to St. Lucia before doesn't even leave Pointe Seraphine.

The pier is parallel to the Terminal and as the cruise traveler enters the main building a Tourist Information Desk occupies the center of the main hall with a few duty-free shops around it and very good signs indicating where to go.

From the main hall there are three possible paths. The doors right in front open to a Local Tour Desk, a couple of Car Rentals (National and Guys) and a Diving/Snorkeling Kiosk among other services.

To the right of the port the cruise traveler will find higher end shops (more about shopping below), the exit to town, the parking for tour buses and a taxi dispatch just before the gates that open to the main road.

To the left, there is an open zone lined with small shops (mainly souvenirs and a few crafts) and beyond these, you will find a manicured garden with cafes, bars, grill/restaurant. The following are Editors' favorites: the Rum Therapy Bar & Treatment Centre , the Antillia Brewing Company , and the Pink Papaya Facebook Page .

It is also in this green area that the cruise traveler will find a water-taxi connecting the two piers. This is a relaxing way to cross to downtown or to Pointe Seraphine if docked at La Place Carenage and wishing to explore the other terminal.

Last but not least amongst amenities, Free Wi-Fi Internet is available almost everywhere at the Point Seraphine Cruise Port Terminal. Insider's hint: you will get better connections in the indoors areas.

Photo of Walk in Saint Lucia Castries

Walking to Castries

The Cruise Port Terminal in Pointe Seraphine is a 20-minute leisurely walk (under 1 mile) along the waterfront to the center of Castries. Have in mind that it will most probably be hot and that there isn't much shade on the way. Light clothing, sunscreen, hat and comfortable footwear are strongly recommended. You may find a few local vendors along the way but unlike what happens in many a Caribbean island none will be harassing you.

Saint Lucia Prepares to Welcome Cruise Tourism this Summer

Mar 25, 2021

cruise ship training in st lucia

Castries- March 22, 2021 – Saint Lucia is gearing up to welcome its first international cruise ship since closure to the sector amid the global Covid-19 pandemic. Following considerable dialogue with local authorities, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line has signaled the return of the cruise industry to Saint Lucia after more than a year, naming Her as a port-of-call on a mid-July itinerary, that will see Celebrity Millennium make its first voyage of the season to the destination, as well as to sister islands and homeports of St. Marten and Barbados on its Southern Caribbean route.

Preliminary discussions with Royal Caribbean include a commitment that both passengers and crew over the age of 18 years would all have been vaccinated, full compliance to pre-arrival Covid-19 testing, and that tour operations would be conducted within a Green Corridor. Additionally, all persons disembarking would be subject to the standard protocols of wearing a facemask, physical distancing, and sanitizing. The overall aim is to ensure that while the cruise sector can continue to benefit the local economy, as a collective, we can also ensure that our local populace is kept safe.

A special committee has been established to provide oversight to the resumption of cruise tourism which include the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Health, Port Health, Saint Lucia Air & Sea Ports Authority, Invest Saint Lucia, Customs, Immigration, Port Security, Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, Saint Lucia Tourism Authority and Cruise Agencies – Cox and Company Limited and Foster and Ince.

“We are enthusiastic that with the advent of science and technology amid this pandemic, we can prepare for a silver lining. The impact of the cruise sector has been noted the world over and its absence has left an impression on our island’s people. We are therefore looking forward to working within strict protocol to see the successful resumption of the sector”, said Tourism Minister-Honorable Dominic Fedee.

Dialogue with all key sector agencies have delved into the health and safety facet which remains of paramount interest. Over the next few weeks, the dialogue will be heightened with suppliers and other operators. The committee will meet regularly to closely review and approve protocols for the resumption of the cruise industry, port health procedures, review of the terminal and its operations and logistics for the execution of excursions within protocol.

Discussions are ongoing with several cruise partners that aim to see more vessels schedule their call into Port Castries in the near future.

3. Gros and Petit Piton

Located in the southwest of St. Lucia, around 45 km/28 miles from the port of Castries, the Pitons are the absolute highlight of the island and a must-see place in St Lucia.

The Pitons are a natural wonder that consists of two massive volcanic mountains – Petit Piton (743 m/2.461 ft) and Gros Piton (771 m/2.619 ft), declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to their phenomenal beauty and spectacular natural sceneries. The Pitons are part of the Soufriere Volcanic Centre and overlook the town of Soufriere and its bay.

Gros and Petit Piton in St Lucia cruise port

Climbing the Pitons is one of the most exciting things to do on the island, but it’s not recommended to go hiking without a tour guide. Petit Piton is quite dangerous and requires previous mountaineering experience, while the Gros Piton hike is safer and requires a moderate level of physical activity.

The hike starts at the town of Soufriere and is around 3 km/2 miles long. The trail is rocky and steep in some parts – therefore, you should go with a tour guide as they know the fastest and safest way to get you to the top.

It takes at least a 1 hour 30 min drive to reach the Pitons. In case you don’t want to hike, you can visit the Pitons by bus or a minivan in a small group, or by boat . The bus ride might take up to 1 hour 45 minutes, while the boat ride lasts up to 1 hour. Some boats are large (like ferries), with little shade, so make sure you bring sunscreen and a hat .

Cruising along the coast and the Bay of Soufriere will allow you to admire the mountains from the sea, and if you want to go by bus there are several spots in Soufriere town from where you can capture great shots of the Pitons. On your way to the town of Soufriere and the Pitons, you might spot the whales.

4. Diamond Botanical Gardens

Located in the southwestern part of the island, a 15-minute drive from the Pitons and around 40 km/25 miles (a 1 h 30 min drive) from Port Castries, the Diamond Botanical Gardens is another must-see natural treasure.

Spreading across six acres, on the outskirts of the town of Soufriere, this extraordinary tourist site boasts the most beautiful flora and fauna on St Lucia island. The gardens are home to the stunning Diamond Falls waterfall , the famous St Lucia waterfall particularly intriguing due to the changing colors of the water.

A few meters downstream, you’ll come across the mineral baths whose construction and usage date from the era of the King Louis XVI of France. You can take a dip in the hot mineral springs, take unique photos of the Diamond waterfall, stroll through the gardens, or enjoy a local meal in one of the Soufriere restaurants (the town is located less than 1 km/0.6 miles from the Diamond Botanical Gardens.

5. Mud Bath at Sulphur Springs

Only a 10-15 minute drive from the Diamond Botanical Gardens and the Pitons, and a 1h 30-minute drive from the cruise port in St Lucia, the mystical Sulphur Springs are another attraction that will blow your mind away!

Known also as Soufriere Qualibou Volcano and Soufriere Drive-In Volcano, Sulphur Springs is the world’s only drive-in volcano whose last eruption took place in the 1700s and is nowadays considered a dormant volcano.

You can drive up to the edge of the geothermal springs and see the steam coming out of the Earth, caused by the water in the springs whose temperatures reach up to 340 Fahrenheit (170 Celsius).

The water and soil are blackened due to the chemical reactions between sulfur, iron, copper, and other minerals and metals, and there are many hot pools and fumaroles all around – a truly impressive sight to see!

Sulphur Springs, St Lucia

Within a short distance downstream from the hot sulfur springs, you can enjoy the geothermal mud baths , a popular tourist attraction. The water in the mud baths reaches 110 Fahrenheit (45 Celsius) and has therapeutic properties – it detoxifies the body and helps heal sunburns, eczema, and more. During the high season, you may encounter crowds as the baths are visited by both tourists and locals.

6. Pigeon Island National Park

After an approximately 25-minute drive (14 km/9 miles) toward the northwest of St. Lucia, you’ll come to Pigeon Island, a 44-acre islet and nature reserve connected to the mainland by a sandy, man-made causeway added in 1972. If you want to simultaneously enjoy the beautiful nature and learn about the history of St Lucia, this place is a must-see!

Wecome to Pigeon Island sign

Throughout history, the place was occupied by the Amerindians, pirates, French and British, mainly due to its favorable strategic position. In the second half of the 18th century, British Admiral George Rodney conquered the island and built Fort Rodney on Signal Hill, the highest peak of the island, from where he could keep an eye on the French naval base of Fort Royal on Martinique.

On top of the hill there are the military ruins and cannons open for visitors, and to get there, you need to take a 15-20-minute hike slightly uphill. It’s totally worth the effort (moderate activity level), as from the hilltop you can admire the exceptional views of the northwest coast of St Lucia and Rodney Bay.

Once you get down to the bay, you can sunbathe at two wonderful beaches of Rodney Bay, visit the Interpretation Center and learn about the history of the island, stroll through the nature reserve, or grab a bite in one of the neighboring local restaurants. There is an admission fee to enter the Pigeon Island Nature Reserve.

7. Snorkel at Anse Chastanet

The island of St Lucia boasts rich marine wildlife and offers an amazing snorkeling experience. The best place to snorkel is Anse Chastanet, located within a short drive from the town of Soufriere and the Pitons, and around a 1h 30 minutes drive from the St Lucia port. Anse Chastanet is part of the Marine Reserve and you can explore the beautiful, shallow reef directly from the shore.

The beach is small, sandy and scenic, and the resort offers fascinating views of the Pitons and the volcanic mountains. The coral reef is home to a wide variety of tropical fish, while the ocean bottom houses sponges and gorgonian forests.

Anse Chastanet, the view from the boat

You can visit the place by boat (most of the snorkeling tours stop here), by car/on a land tour . There is also a nice beach restaurant where you can delight in the local St Lucian specialties while taking in the views of the Pitons.

There are several other spots popular for snorkeling: Anse Mamin , located near Anse Chastanet, a gorgeous quiet beach offering amazing snorkeling; Anse Cochon Bay and beach , situated further up on the northwest coast; Anse La Raye (the Bay of Rays, a rustic fishing village), Marigot Bay , and others.

All these places lie along the west coast of St Lucia and are known for the fringing reefs and abundant sea life. For more experienced and daring ones, St Lucia scuba dive is an alternative option.

Its long, sandy stretch of beach, turquoise waters, a lot of natural shade, and a variety of beach facilities make it attractive for visitors of all ages. Anse Mamin is another secluded sandy beach located up north. It’s an ideal place for a family picnic, as it’s less crowded than other beaches.

Marigot Bay – Situated on the western coast of St Lucia, a 30-minute drive from Castries cruise port, Marigot Bay is a magnificent natural harbor with deep, crystal clear water and several beautiful, sugar-white beaches. Surrounded by densely forested hills from three sides, Marigot Bay boasts luxurious hotels, beach resorts , sophisticated restaurants, and a multitude of picturesque yachts, catamarans, and boats moored in its marina.

The bay served as a setting for several Hollywood movies and has become popular worldwide. The bay also had an important role in the history of St Lucia, as it served as a battleground between French and British navies.

Marigot Bay in St Lucia cruise port

Grande Anse – Located around a 40-minute drive from the port of Castries, Grande Anse is a charming, secluded beach located on the eastern coast of Saint Lucia. If you are searching for lush nature, mountainous sceneries and peace, Grande Anse is a perfect spot. People come here to see the turtles, as the beach is a popular leatherback sea turtle nesting ground and turtles often come out of the water.

Jalousie (Sugar) Beach – If you seek the best views of the Pitons while swimming in the St Lucian crystal clear waters, Jalousie Beach (also known as Sugar Beach) is the top choice! Tucked in Pitons Bay, between Petit Piton and Gros Piton, the beach offers powdery, white sands, and a great snorkeling experience (it is part of St Lucia Snorkel Marine Reserve).

The beach features several resorts and restaurants backed by stunning volcanic and mountainous landscapes. It takes a 1-hour 30-minute drive to get to Jalousie Beach from Port Castries.

Carnival Freedom's next two cruises from Port Canaveral canceled after exhaust funnel fire

A fire in the exhaust funnel of the Carnival Freedom this weekend has disrupted a cruise of the Port Canaveral-based ship for the second time in less than two years — and will mean that the ship's next two cruises are canceled.

Damage to the funnel will require the cancellation of Carnival's next two cruises out of Port Canaveral, which were scheduled to depart Monday and Friday.

Thousands of passengers with scheduled cruises will be affected by the canceled cruises during a busy spring break period for Carnival and other cruise lines.

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

Carnival initially had said it expected no changes in its upcoming cruises, but on Sunday afternoon said the cancellations would be required.

"Regrettably, the damage is more than we first thought, and will require an immediate repair to stabilize the funnel, resulting in the cancellation of the March 25 and March 29 cruises from Port Canaveral," according to a statement issued by Matt Lupoli, Carnival Cruise Line's senior manager of public relations. "The funnel has been stabilized for the ship’s return to Port Canaveral overnight to disembark guests, and then it will go to the Freeport shipyard on Monday afternoon to begin the required repairs."

Carnival said it made the decision after "our technical team completed a thorough assessment" during the ship’s visit Sunday to Freeport in the Bahamas.

In the statement, Carnival said: "We sincerely regret the impact to our embarking guests, as we know they have been looking forward to their spring break vacation. We are providing all guests on both canceled cruises a full refund and a 100% future cruise credit, so they can come back and enjoy a future cruise with us. We also greatly appreciate the terrific guests who are currently sailing with us, for their outstanding cooperation and support."

In a Facebook post, Carnival's widely followed brand ambassador, John Heald, conceded that many people who booked one of the canceled cruises are "feeling very disappointed," and he apologized for the turn of events.

But, Heald added that he wanted to assure affected passengers that, "when you rebook, using your full refund and your 100% future cruise credit, that the crew will be standing by to give you all the fun you deserve."

More than 500 people responded to the post, with many saying they thought Carnival was generous with the compensation offer. But some people who said they were on the cruise that experienced the fire said they thought Carnival should have done more for the people who were on the ship.

Carnival said the fire was confined to the funnel area. The cruise line said there are no reports of injuries to passengers. Two firefighting crew members were treated for minor smoke inhalation.

Carnival said that, at about 3:15 p.m. Saturday, the Carnival Freedom reported a fire on the port side of the ship’s exhaust funnel. The ship was 20 miles off Eleuthera Island, Bahamas, heading to Freeport after a canceled call to the Carnival private island of Princess Cay due to adverse weather.

Details of previous fire: Fire breaks out on Carnival Freedom while Port Canaveral-based ship was in Grand Turk

"The ship’s fire response team was quickly activated, and the ship’s captain also turned the vessel towards the heavy rain in the area to maximize the efforts to put out the flames," an earlier Carnival statement said. "Eyewitnesses reported the possibility of a lightning strike, and that is being investigated, but cannot yet be confirmed."

By 5:20 p.m. Saturday, the fire was extinguished.

Carnival said the ship's captain made multiple announcements to passengers and crew, and advised all but essential safety personnel to stay away from balconies and all open decks.

The port-side portion of the funnel had fallen onto Deck 10, and the firefighting response put out any flames.

The U.S. Coast Guard has been notified of the fire, and Carnival activated its incident response team to support the ship’s crew.

Carnival said there were no other operational issues with the ship’s systems, and the ship, which was on a four-night cruise, was visiting Freeport on Sunday.

The Freedom sailed into the channel at Port Canaveral around 7:30 a.m. Monday, and docked at Cruise Terminal 6, letting off the passengers who were on the cruise. Carnival then awaited a Coast Guard inspection of the ship before it could be cleared to leave Port Canaveral for the Freeport shipyard for repairs. The ship left the port about 6:20 p.m.

A cruise ship funnel generally serves as a smokestack to lift emissions above the deck, thus away from passengers and crew.

On Saturday evening, "Carnival Freedom guests enjoyed the Elegant Night dinner as planned, and, with the exception of the open decks, all areas of the ship are fully functioning," Carnival said in its statement.

The sailing had about 3,700 passengers onboard. And the two upcoming sailings that were canceled each likely would have had a similar passenger count, because this is a busy time for the cruise industry.

The Carnival Freedom's next voyage was scheduled to depart from Port Canaveral on Monday afternoon on a five-night Eastern Caribbean cruise. That cruise had port-of-call stops scheduled at Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic and at Grand Turk Island in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

But that sailing and a Friday sailing both have been canceled. Friday's five-night sailing also was scheduled to stop at those two ports of call, but in reverse order.

In May 2022, a fire broke out in the funnel area of the Carnival Freedom while it was docked in Grand Turk. Carnival then canceled three scheduled sailings of the Carnival Freedom out of Port Canaveral because of the need to repair the ship's fire damage at a shipyard in Grand Bahama.

More recently, in October 2023, the Carnival Freedom debuted a new iconic winged funnel after returning from a 16-day dry-dock refurbishment in Cadiz, Spain.
