WILD FLORIDA’S DRIVE-THRU SAFARI PARK

You never know who you will greet you on your 2-mile trek through Wild Florida’s Drive-Thru Safari Park . The animals roam freely through the 85-acre park, home to more than 100 exotic animals and native Florida wildlife like white-tailed deer, bison, cracker cows, zebras, watusi, oryx and more.

• Florida Residents: $23 adult, $18 per child.
• Ages 13 and up are considered adults.
• Valid Florida ID required at check-in.

The park is located 45 minutes from the Disney area.

Hours of operation: Monday – Saturday, 9am – 6pm.

NEW at Wild Florida! Wild Florida has doubled the size of its Drive-thru Safari, expanding by two miles bringing it to a total of four miles.

The current 85-acre Drive-thru Safari Park has expanded to a total of 170 acres. The trail will increase to four miles and eventually feature more exotic animals like gemsbok, kudu, and springbok.

In addition to the more than 150 animals already on property, Wild Florida has increased the population of some of the existing animals by adding new herds of wildebeest, water buffalo, watusi cattle, eland antelope, brahman cattle and zebra. They have also introduced five more Highlander cattle, two camels, three ostrich and an all-white elk.

Buckle up for your wildest car ride yet! Travel down gravel paths within our Drive-thru Safari Park and discover more than 100 native and exotic animals roaming freely. During your journey, you’ll have the opportunity to observe a variety of animals often only found around the world. Enjoy identifying species from as far away as the African savanna to others from the deciduous forests of North America, all from the comfort of your own car.

Expanding across 85 acres of untouched scenic landscapes, our wildlife and safari park presents a unique opportunity to bring you up close and personal with wild animals such as giraffes, zebra, eland antelope, scimitar oryx, American bison, mouflon sheep, and more! As you travel down our two-mile “unbeaten path,” you and your family can enjoy an exploration just feet away from animals you normally only see on TV.

But the fun you’ll have isn’t confined to your car. Inside our drive-through wildlife park, you can meet, greet and feed giraffes on our elevated giraffe feeding platform. (Talk about the perfect Facebook profile picture!).

After you’ve had your “four-wheel-fun” inside our drive-through animal park, stretch those legs inside our Gator Park. Admission to our Gator Park is included in the price of our Drive-thru Safari Park tickets and allows your family to view more than 200 additional animals, as well as enjoy a variety of educational animal shows.

Meet Crusher, our biggest American alligator (weighing just over 1,000 pounds). During the Crusher Show, you’ll learn more about American alligators and how Crusher stands out from the congregation. Watch a hands-on demonstration with some of our favorite Wild Florida residents during our Exotic Animal Show. Wild Florida offers an assortment of experiences introducing families to a wide variety of native and exotic species – including, of course, massive American Alligators!

Located on Cypress Lake in Kenansville, about 45 minutes to an hour from Downtown Orlando, Wild Florida features a Drive-Thru Safari, Gator Park, airboat rides, animal shows/encounters, and even the (surprisingly delicious) Chomp House Grill! Recently, my family enjoyed a Groupon Deal for four admissions to the drive-thru safari/gator park, one photo with a gator, and four BBQ lunches. While the actual savings were actually minimal (The amount saved was approximately equal to the cost of the four lunches and a souvenir photo), this pass did grant us an afternoon full of fun adventure!

Drive-Thru Safari Park

We decided to start with the Drive-Thru Safari Park. After waiting in a line of cars, we received our animal guides and coupon for our BBQ lunches. The two-sided guide included a picture and short description of every animal we might encounter. On one side it featured Safari Drive-Thru animals and the other held the Gator Park animals. We also received a full map of the Gator Park with noted show times and airboat tours.

After receiving our loot, the attendant told us a few rules for the safari. While you are allowed to roll down your windows, this is only for photographs or personal preference. You’re not allowed to feed or touch the animals. Of course, you need to stay inside your car, and no one should drive more than 5mph.

After we were cleared to enter, we drove through the gates and started our journey! The drive took about 45 minutes to complete, but it certainly didn’t feel like it was that long. With about 100 native and exotic animals within the park, there was always something to watch. Animals on the Drive-Thru Safari include zebras, water buffalo, elk, giraffes, camels, and llamas.

I was particularly taken with the Alligator Swamp. Inside were tons of rescued nuisance alligators. For those that don’t live in the state, a nuisance alligator is one that has caused a threat to the safety of a community. Nuisance alligators are “removed” from the site. Because of ecological and security concerns, nuisance gators cannot be simply relocated. Many are killed for their meat and hide. Wild Florida has provided an alternative option for these animals to live out the rest of their natural lives.

Overall, the Safari Drive-Thru is a worthwhile way to spend part of your morning or afternoon. There was a combination of open grassland and patches of trees for a variety of environments and picturesque backdrops. The animals appeared well cared for, and the whole family enjoyed viewing them from the safety of our car.

Pro-tip: Your safari admission not only gets you into the Gator Park – you get to visit the Drive-Thru as many times as you’d like! Just be aware that the last car will be allowed through about an hour prior to park close. Double check these times before planning your day!

After enjoying the Safari, my family and I entered the Gator Park. This is kind of like a zoo with a variety of animals like albino alligators, sloths, lemurs, and Florida panthers, in manmade exhibits. There are around 200 native and exotic animals within the park. There’s also a variety of shows available, such as gator feedings and educational presentations.

If you’d like to upgrade your visit and add even more fun to your day, you can purchase a special animal encounter. Available experiences include dining with gators, playing with lemurs, and meeting a real porcupine. Animal Encounters do require a reservation and an additional charge. There are age restrictions depending on the specific encounter. I’ve never purchased or experienced one of these myself, but they look pretty fascinating.

Alligator Pond

The centerpiece of the Gator Park is, of course, the Alligator Pond. Guests are invited to stroll down the boardwalk over the water. Full of humungous gators, this is a pretty intimidating place.

What Florida visit is complete without a stroll through a literal swamp? While the name may be unappealing, this is actually a beautiful boardwalk through a piece of true Central Florida nature.

While Wild Florida’s Gator Park is not dissimilar from other local attractions featuring close encounters of the scaly kind, it is unique in the variety of animals housed within the complex. My whole family enjoyed the visit!

Chomp House Grill

As part of our Groupon Deal, we were given four BBQ lunches. Included options were a hot dog, cheeseburger (or veggie burger), chicken tenders, or a pulled pork sandwich. We had the opportunity to upgrade to a fried gator platter for $8, but we chose to stick with the provided options. All lunches were served with a choice of two sides, either baked beans, coleslaw, or chips.

We Did a Bioluminescent Kayaking Tour with BK Adventure!

I ordered the veggie burger with chips and coleslaw. To be perfectly honest, I didn’t expect much from this meal. Generally, veggie burgers at zoos, theme parks, museums, etc., are just not that great. However, I was pleasantly surprised by a moist, flavorful patty and soft, fresh tasting bun! I loved my burger, and the coleslaw was also delicious! I would definitely recommend a stop at the Chomp House Grill during your visit to Wild Florida!

Final Thoughts on Wild Florida

Whether you’re a tourist or local, Wild Florida is worth a visit. It’s clean. There’s a surprising amount of shade, and there are so many animals to see. When you combine the safari drive and gator park, this really is a full day’s worth of entertainment!

Don’t let the name fool you. Our gator park is full of more than 200 native and exotic animals. You’ll find lemurs, bobcats, two-toed sloths, and other wild animals. Of course, you’ll find plenty of alligators in their wild habitats. ‍ Take your time exploring the interesting habitats and heritage of our animals. Airboat Tour Times and Best Times to Ride

Our first airboat tour leaves at 9:00 a.m. and our last airboat tour leaves at 4:30 p.m. In the summer months, the best time to book your airboat tour is at 9:00 a.m. During winter, 12:00 p.m. is an ideal time to ride.

Gator Park and Airboat Tours

Continue your adventure at our Gator Park before or after your airboat ride. You can hold a baby alligator or experience any of our animal encounters. Admission is included with each airboat tour. Make sure you visit our gift shop to pick up your souvenirs.

We are available to make reservations Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The park is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Exotic Animal Shows at Our Gator Park

See alligators live and up close at one of our wildlife shows! Our star of the show, Crusher, is an American alligator who is over 13 feet long. You may have seen alligators in Florida, but you’ve never seen Crusher. Show times are twice a day, at 11 a.m. and 3:45 p.m.

What You’ll See on Your Wildlife Safari

You’ll see native Florida wildlife and exotic animals on your drive. Find giraffes, zebras, eland antelope, scimitar oryx, American bison, mouflon sheep and more. Our animals roam freely through natural habitats, allowing you to get up close and personal.

Precautions

It’s important to consider the weather when booking an airboat tour in Florida. During the summer months and hurricane season, afternoon rains are common. If your airboat tour is impacted by rain or storms, our team will try to contact you by the phone number or email you used to book your airboat tour.

GUIDELINES FOR SERVICE ANIMALS

• We welcome guests with disabilities who choose to bring their trained service animal into Wild Florida. A service animal is a dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for someone living with a disability. According to the ADA, service animals must be under the owner’s control at all times and should remain on a leash or in a harness. While in the Drive-thru Safari Park, your vehicle windows must remain up at all times. While in the Gator Park or on an Airboat Tour, the service animal must be on a leash at all times. Emotional support and service animals in training are not allowed entry into the Drive-thru Safari Park or Gator Park. While emotional support animals are often used to help with medical or emotional challenges, they are not considered service animals under the ADA.

Service Animals Accessibility Map

• Service animals may not enter interactive habitats, including the giraffe feeding encounter, lemur encounter, sloth encounter, or porcupine encounter and are not allowed in the petting zoo or walk-thru bird aviary. These specific animals may view dogs as a threat and may become scared or stressed in the presence of a service animal.

Wheelchair Accessibility for Airboat Tours

• Our loading dock is ADA compliant and our Florida airboat tours are accessible by a wheelchair-friendly ramp that runs from the back of the gift shop down to the airboat loading docks. However, there are a few steps from the dock to the airboat where the guest will need to be physically transferred from the wheelchair to the airboat.

• Our Gator Park is also wheelchair-friendly as every exhibit is at ground level and the paths inside our Gator Park are compacted shells, boardwalk and concrete.

What to Do After Your Wild Drive

Safety Precautions

Safety at Wild Florida is our number one priority, and we are committed to the health, safety and well-being of our guests, staff and animals. No job is so important and no service is so urgent that we cannot take time to perform our work safely to prevent accidents or injuries to our guests and animals. Here are a few safety points and plans for our guests and animals.

We provide life jackets and ear protection for all guests. Children five and under are required to wear a life jacket. For guests six years old and over, life jackets are available along with ear protection, but they are not required.

• Wild Florida has a stellar reputation when it comes to our airboat tours. Our vessels are U.S. Coast Guard approved and inspected on an annual basis. On the vessels are life preservers for each guest, fire extinguishers, a flare gun and a throw ring if necessary.
• In case of an emergency, we have an accident plan.
• We have an incident report if needed.
• Our loading dock is ADA Compliant.
• There is always a way to communicate to home base and/or 911 anywhere on site or while out on an airboat tour.

Airboat Operations

• One of the many things that sets Wild Florida apart from other competitors is our beautiful Gator Park. You can get up close and personal with many different animals including alligators, zebras and exotic birds. Our park is inspected and approved by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) , United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) , and Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) , which makes it a safe and enjoyable experience.
• In case of a snake bite, we have a snake bite protocol.
• Our animals are checked regularly by a veterinarian.
• We have a veterinarian on call at all times.
• We have an accident plan for emergencies.
