'AGT' Fans Are Calling Out the Judges Over "Disappointing" Decision Made About Kristen Cruz

According to folks, the AGT judges didn’t do right by the 19-year-old aspiring singer who blew everyone away with her powerful vocals. During Tuesday night’s episode , the NBC singing competition show welcomed Kristen on to the stage. Hailing from Crowley, Texas, Kristen revealed that she wants to pursue her dream of singing and inspire others along the way. With encouragement from judges Simon Cowell , Howie Mandel , Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara , Kristen performed an astonishing version of " I See Red " by Everybody Loves An Outlaw.

Unsurprisingly, she received a standing ovation and tons of praise. “That was unbelievable … The moment you started singing, you became so powerful, so confident. It was unexpected and it was sexy,” Sofia said. “You open your mouth and you’re on fire,” Howie added. “I love everything about you. You are a star already in the making. You just have a real gift. You just have it!” Heidi commented.

But the most notable words may have come from Simon. While the British mogul was previously known for not sparing contestants from harsh criticism , he’s recently softened his stance . That said, this hasn’t taken away from his expert opinion — and he didn’t hold back when it came to Kristen.

“I was surprised because we have a lot of overconfident singers who come here and they’re dreadful,” Simon said. “Then you come out and your voice is what I would call seasoned, you know? You’re not like someone just starting. Your range, your tone. You have great taste by the way, ‘cause it was a great choice of song.”

Understandably, after hearing this incredibly positive response, many folks were stunned when Kristen received four yeses instead of a golden buzzer . As viewers know, the AGT judges and host Terry Crews each get one push of the golden buzzer to send an outstanding contestant automatically to the live shows. This method guarantees an express way to try to win the $1 million prize instead of potentially getting eliminated in the second round.

“Does anyone else think she should have gotten the golden buzzer. That was so so amazing. Her outgoing attitude and personality makes it so much more amazing. 🎉,” one person wrote in the YouTube comments section. "I’ve never been so disappointed in AGT for not giving her the Golden Buzzer. The upside is that we’ll be seeing her sooner than later," someone else said.

On the other hand, lots of AGT fans were just as excited to see her move on to the next round. “She’s ready, absolutely FANTASTIC!! cannot wait to see her next performance!!!” a follower commented. “Getting goosebumps listening to her from start to finish. The raspiness is so lit 🔥 This young girl is no joke. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻,” a different fan said.

In case you’re also looking forward to seeing Kristen back up on stage, the vocalist actually has a TikTok page with a massive following. Like she mentioned to the AGT judges, she sings while making different drinks, including coffee and protein shakes. But per Simon, people keep coming back to her page because of her talent. “You don’t need smoothies when you sing, trust me,” he said.

"I grew up loving the beautiful music we would sing during the worship service at my church when I was younger," she told the outlet.

"From there my love of music grew into me wanting to sing. Then there were some talent shows at my school I auditioned for and then I got into Rock Band and began writing music from there."

"Then after I hit 900k, America’s Got Talent reached back out to me and asked me to be on the show without having to do any pre-auditions," she explained.

"I had already told God I didn’t really want to do this anymore because its draining and after praying with my friends I felt compelled to this. When I hit the stage, I was nervous because it was my first time performing live in five years."

Nevertheless, her soulful voice left the judges in awe, with Heidi Klum telling her: “I want your voice! I love everything about you, you are a star already in the making. I mean, you just have a real gift!”

Cruz's charm also helped her win over the hearts of viewers but it, unfortunately, wasn't enough to win the entire competition.

The youngster was knocked out after her semi-final performance, where she chose to sing the power ballad Nothing Breaks Like a Heart by Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson.

Cruz continued on her musical journey, even after America's Got Talent, and occasionally performs live shows around the Texas area.

As of August 2023, she has 6.6million followers on TikTok , where she does a majority of her social media outreach.

Kristen Cruz needs no introduction to TikTok obsessives who love music with their video bites.

The teenage Texas native has accumulated 2.2 million followers, and her clips, many of which capture her singing while mixing drinks, have notched a staggering 3.1 billion views.

On Tuesday night (June 21), she made the crossover into mainstream, commercial TV with an audition on America’s Got Talent.

Cruz appears to be a regular 19-year-old kid. Until she sings.

Cruz knew it was good. As the audience gushed, the youngster tried (and failed) to hold back tears.

“That was unbelievable,” Simon Cowell muttered. “Was that really you singing?”

Yeah, it was.

Sofia Vergara remarked on the singer’s power, confidence, and, yes, sexiness.

Cowell was impressed too, and caught off guard with her “seasoned” voice. “Your range, your tone,” he commented, “you have great taste by the way because it was a great great choice of song.”

The result was a no-brainer. Four yeses.

At the top, Cruz was asked of her ambitions. “To inspire people,” she remarked. “To make them feel like you don’t need to be anyone else, be yourself.”

With her performance, Cruz led by example.

Before she came out, she talked to Terry Crew about how they have similar last names but spelled differently. She then said she never had the confidence to audition until she saw people loved her TikTok videos.

Heidi and Sophia both said they wanted her voice and they said she was powerful and sexy when she was singing.

It is fun to watch her sing songs while she is making drinks.

Simon then said that a lot of singers come out overconfident and are dreadful. However, he said Kristen came out and had a voice that he called “seasoned.” He complimented her range and tone and he complimented her taste in music choice.

She then got all four “yes” votes from the judges.

Monday’s solar eclipse will be a spectacular event for people in the path of totality, but even those subjected to a partial view can still enjoy the moon blocking the sun.

All states in the contiguous U.S. will experience some level of the eclipse. However, according to NASA , the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine, along with some areas of Kentucky, Michigan and Tennessee, will be in the path of totality.

The moon will fully cover the sun for up to 4½ minutes, according to The Wall Street Journal . Viewers can get a rare glimpse of the sun’s corona -- the outermost part of the star’s atmosphere.

NASA has a tool that will show how the eclipse will look in your area. Just enter your zip code. Univision has a more interactive tool that simulates the view as the moon moves across the sun.

“Enter your zip code below and you’ll be able to see a re-creation of the eclipse from your city,” the news organization wrote . You can also click here .

For a mobile-friendly or full-screen version of NASA’s interactive map, visit go.nasa.gov/EclipseExplorer .

Eclipse2024.org also has an interactive tool that will illustrate what the eclipse will look from any venue in the United States.

Monday will be the last time until 2044 that a total eclipse can be viewed in the contiguous United States.
