Permanent companions [ ]

The base game offers 13 unique permanent companions, each with their own quirks and storyline. Add-ons introduce four additional companions; Automatron adds two fully customizable robot companions; Far Harbor and Nuka-World introduce a single, narrative-focused companion each. With all add-ons installed, the total number of permanent companions in the game is 17.

The game has a number of temporary companions that will only be available during certain quests.

Essential status [ ].

Unlike Fallout 3 , companions in Fallout 4 are marked as "essential" when serving as the active companion, meaning they cannot be killed no matter how much damage they incur. If incapacitated, they will automatically heal to full HP after combat ends. Unlike Fallout: New Vegas , if one has at least one stimpak in their inventory , it can be used to immediately rejuvenate an incapacitated companion instead of them being rendered unconscious and forced to wait until they wake up after combat has ended.

However, if one is playing in Survival mode , the companion must be healed when incapacitated, even after combat. If they're not healed within a set period of time, or when the player travels beyond a certain distance, they will leave and return to their last used home base.

Some companions lose their essential status when dismissed. They do, however, remain protected like other settlers and cannot be killed by NPC attacks (only by the player or their active companion or related action). Some companions also lose their essential status upon reaching the lowest level of affinity and leaving the player character permanently.

Radiation [ ]

Far Harbor (add-on)

Unlike Fallout: New Vegas , but similar to Fallout 3 , enemies killed by companions in Fallout 4 do not automatically reward Experience Points to the player character. For one to be rewarded for kills by companions, they have to ensure that they inflict at least a certain amount of damage, around 20% - 30% of total HP, on a given enemy before the companion deals the killing blow to gain the XP amount.

Using weapons and armor [ ]

Humanoid companions can be equipped with weapons and armor of any choice, even those of a faction(s) that considers the player character an enemy. To do so, go to the trade dialogue option and place whatever items the player character wants them to use or wear in their inventory. Then, in their inventory, press the button to "equip" the item(s). Weapons equipped must also have an ammunition supply, so they must be provided with the ammo type the weapon requires. Even weapons that use the same ammunition as a companion's default weapon must have ammunition supplied.

There are some exceptions to this with certain companions: Paladin Danse for example cannot wear anything other than headgear as long as he has his power armor; Codsworth can only wear the bowler hat and its variant the Triggerman bowler ; Nick Valentine will only wear his trenchcoat (although an extra one is given to the player character; this one can be modified and equipped on Nick; he can also wear the High Confessor's robes from Far Harbor ); Strong can only wear super mutant armor ; and Dogmeat can only wear dog armor , bandanas and certain types of eyewear.

Humanoid companions can and will use all types of grenades when equipped with them. While they possess remarkable skill and are fully capable of hitting even moving targets with astounding accuracy, they are completely oblivious of any collateral damage they might inflict on allies caught in the blast radius, the player character included. Taking at least rank 1 of the Inspirational perk (companions' attack no longer damage the player character) is therefore recommended before equipping companions with grenades or any explosive weapon like Spray n' Pray .

Unlike Fallout': New Vegas , humanoid companions do not have default weapons for both melee and ranged, only one or the other. Moreover, even if given a melee/ranged weapon, they do not dynamically switch out to the opposite depending on how much range is between them and the enemy they are currently targeting, i.e. if they have a melee weapon, they will attempt to pathfind the shortest way to an enemy to attack them. That said, a melee-wielding companion will automatically seek out any dropped ranged weapon on an enemy corpse, including taking the ammo from the body and use that to attack; it's advisable to make sure that one checks their inventory outside of combat in case they picked up a unique or legendary weapon by accident.

Wearing power armor [ ]

Humanoid companions (excluding Strong) can be ordered to use power armor ; to do so one needs to "command" the companion to simply enter the armor. Whether the armor is racked or not, they will walk up to it and enter it. One has to be standing a bit away from the armor; if too close, the command option will change to "enter" and if hitting the activate button, the Sole Survivor will mount the power armor instead. To get a companion out of power armor simply talk to them and there will be a dialogue option to ask them to get out of it.

When the companion is dismissed they will return to the designated "home" wearing the armor and will continue to wear it until telling them to exit their power armor suit. Sometimes one may find the dismissed companion in the settlement sent to without their power armor. In that case, one must look around the settlement for the power armor suit as the companion may have exited it and left it somewhere in the settlement. The larger the settlement, the longer or more difficult the search for the lost armor suit may be. To make a companion not leave the power armor at the settlement, make sure both the power armor and the companion is equipped with a fully charges fusion core. (It might also help to assign them guard duty, so they don't go to sleep)

Companions can wear power armor without needing a fusion core. If removing the fusion core from the suit, they may still enter it and never need a fusion core. It is unclear if this is intended behavior.

Carrying capacity [ ]

All companions have a minimum carrying capacity of 150, except Strong with 200, and Danse with 210. [1] This is changed substantially in Survival mode , causing many companions to be able to carry little more than their own armor and weapons.

It is possible to make companions wear pocketed or deep pocketed armor to increase their carrying capacity by +30 or +60, respectively. Companion carry capacity can also be increased by +10 by acquiring Live & Love Issue #3.

A trick can be used to push a companion past their carry capacity. Companions can always be commanded to pick up items or loot containers & bodies, even when at or beyond capacity. Note when commanding them to loot containers & bodies they will only grab one item at a time, so one may need to command them repeatedly. Once at or beyond capacity, it will not be possible to give them items any other way. This will not work with Dogmeat.

Committing crimes [ ]

If the player character murders an innocent, their affinity with their current companion will drop by 10% and will trigger dialogue with the player character expressing anger and warning them to never do it again. They may also leave the player character instead of speaking to them. They will refuse to speak to the player character at first, but after a few days, the companion will be able to travel again. Should the player character ignore this warning and repeat a murder, companions will permanently leave. This applies to every companion except Strong (as he likes murder) while Dogmeat, Ada, and any automatrons are neutral about murder.

Additionally, depending on where a crime is committed, the companion may even become hostile towards the player character. For example, Piper and Nick will turn hostile if a DC guard/civilian is assaulted/killed, or if one trespasses or steals. Hancock and MacCready will do the same if the listed crimes are done in Goodneighbor.

Affinity [ ]

When serving as the active companion, they will give different thoughts and relationship statuses depending on their relationship with the player character. They will also differ in attitude when dismissing them or asking them to join. These comments can be hateful, disdainful, neutral, admirable, generous, and for romantic companions, affectionate.

Raising or dropping a companion's affinity to a certain amount will trigger a unique dialogue with the player character. Positive affinity will reveal some of the companion's background and how they ended up as they presently are. When reaching the maximum "idolize" status, the companion will admit to considering the player character as their best friend. Negative affinity results in disappointed companions asking them to change their ways. When reaching the lowest "hatred" status, the companion will threaten to leave for good. An orange Charisma check can convince them to give the player character one more chance. If the persuasion was successful, but later the affinity still goes down, the companion will eventually condemn them again and this time leave for good, permanently unable to be recruited again. This applies to every companion except for Dogmeat, Ada, and automatrons.

  • If the Sole Survivor fires a weapon in a settlement, any companions present in that settlement will often become annoyed and make backbiting comments on how that is best saved for another time. This does not count as a disapproval.
  • Dogmeat does not count as a companion for the purposes of the Lone Wanderer perk, therefore the Survivor can adventure with him and keep the benefits of the perk.
  • Traveling with a companion bestows the player character with an inherent 5% bonus to all Experience gained. This bonus can be further increased by acquiring Live & Love Issue #8. These bonuses are multiplicative with other experience bonuses such as Intelligence and Piper's companion perk Gift of Gab .
  • When choosing a location to send a dismissed companion, selecting 'Cancel' will not cancel the dismissal, but will instead send them back to the last location they were sent to when dismissed. If no settlement has ever been selected, the companion will be sent to their original location rather than a settlement, e.g. Piper returns to the Publick Occurrences office, Nick to the Valentine Detective Agency , Hancock to the Old State House in Goodneighbor, etc.
  • If one accidentally dismisses a companion, unlike in Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas , they do not immediately despawn, forcing traveling to the location they were dismissed to reacquire them. Instead, they begin walking in the direction of the location they are dismissed to. If one wants to recruit them again, they can simply talk to them and ask them to re-join.
  • Danse, Deacon, Gage, Old Longfellow, and X6-88 are the only companions who can be killed as a result of questline choices or if they're not recruited as companions.
  • Perks gained from companions are permanent, meaning they cannot be lost if a companion's affinity drops down again and they leave the player character permanently after reaching the maximum and gaining their perk.
  • It is impossible to complete the main story of Fallout 4 and keep all companions (so if one wants to get all companion perks a few must be done before completing the main quest). Choosing the Railroad questline will leave everyone alive, though Danse will refuse to interact with you.
  • If one cannot remember where a dismissed companion was sent to, with the Vault-Tec Workshop add-on and the Vault-Tec Population Management System added with it, one can simply access the "VIP" option, select the name of the desired companion, and start Overseer's Most Wanted which essentially serves as an active quest marker pointing to where they currently are. This applies to all companions including Ada, Old Longfellow, and Porter Gage, but excluding Codsworth (possibly a developer oversight) and automatrons.
  • Some pacifist companions, like Curie and Piper, will still have their affinity raised when asking them to wait while fighting enemies alone in that same area. In contrast, aggressive companions, like MacCready and Strong, will only have their affinity raised if they are directly in contact with the enemies together with the player character.
  • Most companions complain when picking up junk, however, Old Longfellow will praise the player character and even have his affinity raised. Piper will complement the player character's ability to find a use for junk but does not gain any affinity.
  • When the player activates an elevator that takes them into a different location, all companions will seem to disappear for a short period, and then reappear, although it is still possible to locate them with the reticle. An example is the elevator to reach the Secret Vault 81 from Vault 81, where Curie will follow the player character to the last quest marker.

PC

  • One potential fix is to fast travel to another location.
  • Another fix is to dismiss the companion. The companion can be re-recruited back.
  • Should the Ripper sound be playing over and over, having the companion use the weapon again may fix the bug. [verified]
  • If a companion has the drilling-sound glitch from an armor workbench or weapon workbenches, allowing them to re-use the corresponding workbench from where the glitched sound is and let them end its use by themselves without interruptions, the sound glitch should stop and be fixed.
  • Even after dismissing Dogmeat, he may continue barking. A possible fix for this is to turn on Classical Radio and then turn it off.

Xbox One

  • One solution is to restart the game.
  • Another solution is to acquire a different companion.
  • A fix for this is to turn the game off, then reloading the save.
  • Another fix is to fast travel to a different place and sleep in a bed and return.

Behind the scenes [ ]

Another unnamed, unspecified companion was planned to be included in the Nuka-World add-on, voiced by Orion Acaba , though he was ultimately cut from the final release. [2]

Fallout 4 cheats and console commands make surviving the irradiated wastes of the Commonwealth much easier, allowing you to change the world, spawn items at will and just generally screw with NPCs. There are a lot of other things you can do with console commands from just teleporting around, clipping through walls, and be invincible. They let you wander out into the wastes to soak in the sights (and rads) of Fallout 4 without having to constantly look over your shoulder. 

However , be aware that turning on too many cheats at once will likely crash the game. These console command and cheats are only available on PC, but PS5 and Xbox players can always check out some the best Fallout 4 mod s to see if they’ll have things that can help.

How to use Fallout 4 console commands

To apply Fallout 4 console commands you just need to hit the tilde (~) key in-game to reveal the developer console, then enter the command code with the required variables to define it. You can stack effects by typing in multiple commands, then press tilde again when you're done to go back into the game. In most cases, typing in the same code again will reverse the original effect.

As for any game where you're tinkering around with codes and playing in ways that weren't originally intended, it's highly likely that some of these commands, or combinations of them, can produce game-breaking glitches or crash everything. For that reason you should always create a back up save before you start messing about , so you have a 'safe' save to fall back on should you break everything. Don't forget that using Fallout 4 cheats will also disable achievements, so you'll need a legit gae or sace if you want to keep earning awards.

Fallout 4 player console commands

  • tgm - Turn on God mode, for full invincibility to damage and radiation, plus infinite ammo and carry capacity etc
  • tim -  Turn on Immortal mode, where you can take damage but will never die. This can irreparably break your character if you get decapitated or lose a limb from a kill animation
  • tcl - Turn on No-clip mode, so you can walk in the air and through walls
  • player.resethealth - Refills your health to full
  • showlooksmenu player 1 - Change your appearance - make sure your face in visible on screen
  • showspecialmenu - Change your name and assign SPECIAL points
  • csb - Clears any blood, dust etc effects from your screen
  • coc CellID - Teleport to the specified CellID location. A list of CellIDs is here
  • coc qasmoke  - Teleport to a testing room containing almost every item in the game. Use the command again with a different CellID to exit
  • player.additem ItemID # - Change the ItemID to the item you wish to put in your inventory, and # to the amount of that item you want. A list of ItemIDs is here
  • player.setav VariableID # - Sets the stated VariableID to the entered amount to alter your stats. A list of VaribleIDs is here
  • player.setav speedmult # - Sets the speed of your character to the entered value, where 100 is standard and 200 is double speed
  • setgs fJumpHeightMin # -  Sets the height of your jump, where 90 is standard. If you increase this too much then you will take fall damage when jumping, unless you also enter setgs fjumpfallheightmult 0 or enable God mode
  • player.addperk PerkID -  Adds the stated PerkID to your character. A list of PerkIDs is here - note that you also need to add any preceding perks in the order they unlock
  • CGF "Game.AddPerkPoints" # - Add the specific number of Perk Points, which can then be spent
  • player.setlevel # - Replace # with the level to set your player to
  • lock unlock - Point at a door, terminal, safe etc then use these code to lock or unlock them
  • activate - Point at a object then use this code to activate it when normally a switch or other trigger is required

Fallout 4 world console commands

  • tm - Toggle the GUI display - this also turns off the console command display, so you'll need to enter ~tm again to see what you're typing
  • tmm 1 - Turn on all map markers, switch 1 with 0 to turn them all off, or 1,0,1 to turn them all on as undiscovered (no fast travel)
  • tfc - Enter free camera mode, add 1 to pause the game
  • screenshot - Take a screenshot and save it in the root Fallout4.exe directory
  • sucsm # - Replace # to alter the speed of the free camera, use 10 for half speed, 20 for default,  or 40 for double speed
  • tfow - Toggles the fog on the local map
  • gr - Toggles God-Ray
  • tg - Toggles grass
  • ts - Toggles sky display
  • tws - Toggles water display
  • set timescale to # - Change # to determine the speed time passes at (number of game seconds per actual second), where 1 is realtime and 20 is default
  • sgtm # - Change # to determine the game speed multiplier, where 0.5 is half speed and 2 is double speed etc. Going too high can crash the game
  • fw WeatherID - sw WeatherID Replace WeatherID with the type of weather you want to activate, using fw to instantly activate it or sw for a gradual change. A list of WeatherIDs is here

  • caqs - Completes all quest stages and awards all quest items, likely to bug or crash
  • saq - Starts all quests, very likely to crash
  • sqo - Displays all objectives for all quests
  • sqt - Displays all targets for current quests, shows QuestIDs
  • sqs - QuestID Display all stages for the specific QuestID. A list of QuestIDs is also here
  • movetoqt - QuestID Travel to the target of the specific QuestID
  • completequest QuestID - completeallobjectives QuestID Completes quest with the specific QuestID, completing all objectives may be more reliable

Fallout 4 NPC console commands

  • tdetect - Turn off all AI detection
  • tai - Toggle non-combat AI for NPCs
  • tcai - Toggle combat AI for NPCs
  • targetID.sexchange - Switches gender of targeted NPC, prone to bugs. A list of targetIDs for NPCs is here
  • targetID.tc - Toggles control of the targeted NPC. Use with player.tc to stop your own character moving at the same time
  • targetID.kill - Kills the targeted NPC, as long as they're not essential
  • killall - Kills all non-essential NPCs and creatures in the vicinity
  • kah - Kills all hostiles in the vicinity
  • targetID.resurrect - Return a dead targeted NPC to life

Fallout 4 might be approaching its decade anniversary, but it still remains a popular game among the Bethesda faithful. This single mod technically has three different mods that encompass it. First, there's the Atomic Radio mod, which adds a fully-functioning radio station in Fallout 4. You can even download custom tracks for the radio station. Next, the Tales from the Commonwealth mod adds new quests and companions to the game, deeply expanding the replayability of Fallout 4. Finally, the Settlers of the Commonwealth mod adds 31 fully voiced settlers to the game, all with specific locations across the map.

We Are The Minutemen gives the faction a much larger presence in the Wasteland while removing many of the quirks associated with the faction. While the interior of a building isn't always exciting, you won't know until you go in.

Possible robots include Protectrons, Mister Gutsies, Assaultrons, and Sentry Bots, among others.

The Horizon mod in Fallout 4 is a ground-up alteration to everything in the game. It features thousands of changes that aim to rebalance and enhance the gameplay. The mod allows vendors to have access to 2,000 Caps, 10,000 Caps, or 30,000 Caps, depending on your preference.

Are you looking to add a new layer of replayability to Fallout 4? Well, look no further than the Survival Options mod. This gives you access to a variety of new features, which essentially turn the game into a survival-crafting experience. With every feature enabled, you suddenly have to worry about elements such as fatigue, hunger, thirst, disease, and more. You can turn off each feature individually through your Pip-Boy, but I suggest having them all enabled at first to experience the mod in full. If you thought Fallout 4 was difficult before, you're in for an entirely new experience with Survival Options.

You might not think about dialogue options when it comes to customizing your character in Fallout 4. However, the NewDialog mod allows you to completely change what dialogue options your character has for any conversation. By default, the mod gives you access to a flurry of new dialogue options and a more pleasing UI menu for the dialogue options. If you go deeper into the mod, though, you can change your dialogue options to whatever you want.

You're able to fly around the map, but you still have a limited capacity as to how high you can get and how long you can fly for.

There's even a text search so you can manually search for locations without having to scroll over the map looking for them. As for the throwing knives, those are plasma-infused and deal massive damage if they connect with an enemy.

Load Accelerator cuts down on the loading screen times when entering or exiting a building by "controlling VSync and CPU affinity." When that's paired with Load Accelerator, you'll hardly see any excessive time at a loading screen.

Although appearance is not a major factor in the gameplay of Fallout 4 , eventually, you will want to add authentic details to your character who has gone through so many adventures. Sure, you created a great hero when you first started the game, but that look no longer suits the seasoned Sole Survivor. Fortunately, the post-apocalyptic world is not without beauty workers.

You can easily change your character's appearance in Fallout 4 simply by visiting a couple NPCs and coughing up some Caps. Specifically, there are two NPCs who can adjust your appearance: one of them only cuts your hair and shaves you, and the other is a wizard with a scalpel for other cosmetic modifications.

Fallout 4: 6 Best Mods In The Creation Club

If you are planning to change your hairstyle only, you should visit the NPC in the red jacket named John . He is an excellent barber. To find this guy, you should go to Diamond City . Take the town entrance as a starting point and walk along the central road for just a few seconds. Keep your eyes on the left side of the road, and you will quickly spot a guy in a red jacket in an open barbershop on the corner of the road.

After talking with him, he will offer his barber services for only 15 Caps , after which you can sit on a chair and choose any of the proposed hairstyles. In addition to all the basic hairstyles available when you first created your character, you'll also gain access to some unique ones available only here.

If you are playing as the male version of Sole Survivor, don't forget to customize your facial hair as well!

Fallout 4: How to Level Up Fast

If you want to customize your appearance in more detail, you'll need to visit a plastic surgeon. You can find this NPC right across the street from the barber. All you have to do is go to the building with the red syringe sign and enter the door that says Mega Surgery Center . Going down to the basement office of a plastic surgeon, it will seem to you that this is the lair of a maniac, but don’t worry — this guy is a master of his profession.

For just 100 Caps , this doctor can completely change your appearance, from the shape of your nose, forehead, and eye sockets to the shape of your body. He can even put dirt or a tattoo on your face, so there's a lot of room for experimentation. Having come to him as a thin guy with a long nose and narrow lips, after a couple of minutes, you can leave him as a large survivor with big lips and a flat nose. He is a true surgical wizard and is exactly who you will want to visit after going to the barber.

What you need to know

  • Fallout 4's current-generation upgrade is available now on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PlayStation. 
  • This update is free for anyone that already owns the game or is playing through Xbox Game Pass.

  • UPDATE: Bethesda confirmed there's a bug with the PS+ version of Fallout 4 not getting the update. It will be fixed. 

It's finally time to head back to the Boston Commonwealth. 

The long-awaited current-generation upgrade for Fallout 4 is now available, bringing an updated version of Bethesda Game Studios' 2015 first-person role-playing game to players across Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5. As previously outlined , this update is free for anyone that owns the game, as well as anyone who is playing through Xbox Game Pass .

Well, I just installed Fallout 4 on gaming computer, and I'll be redownloading it on my Xbox Series X in a bit. With the Fallout TV series ( which has been renewed for a second season ) and now this update, I've got uranium fever, that's for sure. Based on the resurgence the series has seen across all games , I'm definitely not alone.

While it's taken a long time for this update to arrive, I'm glad it's finally here. A particular highlight for me is the 40 FPS mode for 120hz TVs. That's a great way of making a game smoother to play without sacrificing any visual fidelity. We've seen it across a number of PlayStation first-party games, but it hasn't been a focus for Xbox teams. Hopefully, this support means we can see that mode added to Starfield in a future update.

Chunky Fallout 76 Patch Removes a Ton of Bugs

Bethesda has released the hefty patch for Fallout 76 that removes a ton of bugs but weighs in at around 20 GB on console.

With all things Fallout now enjoying a significant boost following the breakout success of the  Fallout TV show ,  Fallout 76  is enjoying a significant rise in player numbers. Last week, Bethesda announced that Fallout 76, its most recent mainline Fallout game,  saw over one million people play in a single day .

Fallout 76 launched in November 2018 across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and was savaged by critics and players at release. However, over the last five years, Bethesda has worked to improve the game, turning around sentiment to such an extent that Fallout 76 now enjoys a ‘mostly positive’ user review rating on Steam. In a recent interview with Kinda Funny Games , Bethesda development chief Todd Howard said Fallout 76 has been “sneaky popular” for the last three or four years.

Revealed in a blog post , the 1.7.11.12 patch weighs in at 12.1 GB on Steam, but its Microsoft Store counterpart is 19.8 GB. The PlayStation update download is similar at 19.2 GB, while Xbox takes the cake at 23.1 GB.

A handful of quality-of-life updates join the bug fixes. Bethesda has added a Max option when buying from and selling to NPCs, the World Activity list now sorts alphabetically, the inventory scrollbar is now improved, and an "Ammo Per Shot" stat entry has been added to weapons.

Speaking of, the Cremator weapon and its mods have received "several adjustments" as it was released with a bug that made it stronger than intended. It's been buffed in other ways to make up for this loss of power, however, with Bethesda saying its Damage Over Time is now a "force to be reckoned with."

The bulk of the update does come in its bug fixes though. Power Armor is no longer listed in English instead of the correct localized language, the Devils Wings Jetpack now has properly working lights, the Big Boss Advertisement poster no longer turns into a Mothman poster when broken, and more. Fallout 76 Update Version 1.7.11.12 Patch Notes

  • Fixed an issue that caused Power Armor to be listed in English instead of the correct localized language
  • Fixed an issue where the Garrahan Mining Poster was not present at the Rusty Pick or Camden Park
  • Opportunity Knocking: Fixed an issue which could cause the quest to disappear after relogging.
  • Deep Space Alien Jetpack is now properly craftable for T51 Power Armor
  • Sins of the Father : Fixed an issue which would block the quest if a dialogue scene between Abbie and Antonio was exited during a specific part of the conversation.
  • Fixed an issue where the Cremator was not listed at Legendary Exchange Machines
  • Fixed an issue where the player could ask Abbie Russo a question about Vin that did not properly reflect the final outcomes of Sins of the Father.
  • Players who previously unlocked them should now be able to craft the Poker & BlackJack Tables
  • Sins of the Father : Fixed an issue which could prevent Antonio from speaking to the player.
  • Brahmin Flour Billboards should now be craftable and have the right materials
  • Rustic Helvetian Camp Kit has had the expected walls and windows added to it.
  • The Favorites menu hotkeys are now usable while the wheel is visible.
  • Fixed an issue where gold bullion vendors Regs and Smiley were not enabled for some players who completed Secrets Revealed.
  • Tesla Rifles will now drop correctly from the Battle Bot Event
  • Father Winter Helmet should now have T-45 standard Stats, Description, Weight, and Levels should be standardized now.
  • Fancy Revolver should now properly display its unique fancy skin
  • Fixed an issue where Small Presents were not dropping contextual ammo
  • Fixed weather stations not being able to be placed in a camp workshop located very close to a public workshop.
  • Fixed modern home kitchen sink not being able to snap to other modern home items on a foundation
  • Secrets Revealed : Fixed an issue where Meg, Gail, Ra-Ra, Johnny, and Lou could be missing from the Crater Core after the completion of the quest.
  • Lights now function properly on the Devils Wings Jetpack
  • Fixed several paints that were no longer updating the dynamic name of modified Power Armor pieces.
  • Speculative fix for items in the Cryo-freezer randomly selling for 0 caps in the vendor.
  • Big Boss Advertisement Poster no longer turns into a Mothman poster when broken.
  • Fire Rate now shows increase/decrease arrows when comparing potential mods to what players have currently equipped.
  • Story Time now properly removes itself from the PipBoy if you kill Miss Nanny.
  • Fixed an issue with Buried Treasure not properly completing.
  • Players are no longer blocked from completing Honor Bound if they exit the conversation with Vin and Gene.
  • Scrolling the mouse-wheel down now properly shrinks selected body parts in the character generator.

QUALITY OF LIFE UPDATES

  • Added a Max option when buying from and selling to NPCs
  • World Activity list now sorts alphabetically
  • Improved behavior of the inventory scrollbar
  • Added a new “Ammo Per Shot” stat entry to weapons
  • Dev Note : The Cremator released with a bug that made it stronger than we intended it to be due to the way damage was calculated with its explosion. Players who had certain perks and mods on it did much higher damage than intended. We’ve fixed that bug, which has decreased the damage for that specific setup, but we made multiple tweaks and changes to buff it in different ways. Now, the Damage Over Time (DoT) should be a force to be reckoned with.

SEASONAL EVENTS

  • Recipes and some items dropped by these events will continue to drop after you have learned them. These items are now also tradeable to help you get all the plans you want!

The new update in Fallout 4 blocks lots of mods from working, but fans are taking the matter into their own hands by trying to remove it.

Fallout 4 has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity not just because of the recent success of the TV adaptation, but also because of a big new update to its graphics and gameplay .

Except the update hasn’t gone down well with some fans, who have complained it’s full of bugs and that they can’t use their mods because of it.

Less than a week after the update went live, the two most popular mods on NexusMods are ones that let you remove it from the game completely.

The two most downloaded Fallout 4 mods on NexusMods in the last seven days are Fallout 4 Downgrader and Steam – Skip Next-Gen Update, having been downloaded 43,000 and 26,000 times, respectively.

‘After Fallout 4’s next gen update, many mods stopped working,’ the Fallout 4 Downgrader mod description states, adding:

‘The Fallout 4 Downgrader tool quickly reverts your game to the pre-update version, enabling the use of mods using Fallout 4 Script Extender, Buffout, and others.’

The Steam – Skip Next-Gen Update mod description reads: ‘Use this ACF [Adobe custom filter] file to trick steam into thinking your game is updated, so you can use your mods with peace of mind.’

Both the Fallout 4 Downgrader and the Steam – Skip Next-Gen Update download pages come with guides and FAQ sections, so even if you’re not an experienced modder you can figure out how to revert to the pre-update version if you want.

The Fallout games, as well as many other Bethesda titles, owe much of their popularity and longevity to the fact that fans can add their own home-made mods to them – although that’s much more prevalent on PC than console.

It’s strange then, that Bethesda has impeded its modding community to this extent, since they must surely have known that the update would have this effect.

It’s the same problem the unofficial Fallout London expansion is having, which has been indefinitely delayed because the update makes it impossible for the files to work with the game anymore.
