Best for: Full-time Travelers
Why We Like It: A professional-looking option that includes a pen.
What You Should Know: The hidden pocket flap is flimsy.
Bellroyâs Travel Wallet is a popular and competent offering that looks professional and has thoughtful internal organization. You can slide more than one passport inside, and thereâs a divider in the money pocket to separate different currencies. Or, slide a boarding pass in one and your cash in the other.
Although the wallet looks similar in size to a standard wallet, it has a much larger footprint. This keeps it from fitting inside your front pocket and away from most back pockets. However, It should fit inside your sling , coat pocket, or daypack .
Though the exterior scratches and scuffs easily, it offers a unique, rugged, professional look that we dig. Plus, it comes with a micro-pen! Thatâs great for filling out your customs form on the plane before landing. What else could you ask for from a travel wallet?
Why We Like It: Internal organization feels more like a wallet with space for extras.
What You Should Know: It is a tad too big for a pocket but too small to require a sling.
The Fjallraven Passport Wallet utilizes G-1000 fabric, which weâre used to seeing on other products from the brand. Itâs durable, looks professional, and makes the color pop. Paired with YKK zippers, this is a passport wallet that you can rely on for years to come.
The internal organization can handle your travel documents, credit cards, and more than one passport if you pack it wisely. Given how much you can fit inside, this wallet is larger than your daily carry, but it feels soft in your hand and looks professional and fun at the same time.
If you own other Fjallraven gear, their Passport Wallet will fit right into your kit.
Best for: Professional Travelers
Why We Like It: The use of premium, sturdy materials goes a long way.
What You Should Know: Thereâs only one place to put your passport.
If durable materials are your thing, look no further than the Pioneer Passport Wallet. In addition to having space for your important travel documents, the nylon shell is extraordinarily tough and can handle whatever journey you have planned next. It also has a DWR coating to shield your sensitive information from the elements.
The interior design is simple, which ensures you can access everything quickly. Both the interior and exterior are minimalistic, which is great for looks, but may leave something to be desired for those who like to bring a ton of gear.
Whereas this is an excellent option for those looking for a passport wallet for just the essentials, if you want the best travel wallet for the whole nine yards, this might not be the right choice for you.
Best for: Relaxed Travelers
Why We Like It: It can fit a lot of gear for its small footprint.
What You Should Know: The materials arenât very sturdy for rugged adventures.
At first glance, the Zero Grid Passport Wallet looks a bit cheap. However, what it lacks stylistically, it makes up for in gear storage. On the interior, you can stow your passport on either side, leaving the other for your cards and cash. Thereâs even an exterior pocket thatâs handy for waiting in line at the coffee shop or food truck.
This travel wallet closes with a YKK zipper and utilizes ripstop nylon, which is lightweight and fairly durable. It isnât the best choice for a rugged adventure, but itâll hold up well for most use cases.
If the small size doesnât suit your needs, Zero Grid makes a larger Passport Holder with enough space for an entire family. Plus, the included pen is nearly twice as large; what a deal! This comes in handy for filling out customs forms and writing down directions.
Why We Like It: The dedicated change purse is ideal for places where cash rules.
What You Should Know: Although plentiful, the internal organization can be daunting.
Pacsafe is known for its products that deter theft while traveling. Although their Compact Travel Organizer doesnât have any of the unique locking features as some of their slings weâve tested, it has RFID-blocking technology and is a capable travel wallet.
The exterior is crafted from recycled polyester and is PFC-free, which is an excellent shout from an environmental standpoint. A small zippered pocket on the exterior works well for change or if youâre waiting in line at a cash-only joint and donât want to wave bills around beforehand.
This passport wallet is large, but not so large that youâll feel awkward holding onto it for a few minutes at a restaurant or shop. The interior organization is thoughtful and easy to organize, so youâll be able to quickly access your gear no matter where you end up.
Why We Like It: Unique design doesnât fold, ensuring no wasted space.
What You Should Know: It can be hard to see the cards inside the wallet.
Most of the travel wallets on this list share one featureâa fold. Weâre used to seeing non-folding models in the everyday carry world, but for a passport wallet, it feels wasteful. Enter the Away Passport Holder!
The design ensures easy access to your passport and gear because you donât need to open a fold before grabbing it. This does heighten the chance that dirt and debris will slide inside and makes it a little harder to see cards in poor light, but once you get used to it, this isnât an issue.
Best of all, this travel wallet from Away looks professional and feels durable. Plus, if you have larger pockets on your clothing, you may be able to carry it without needing a sling or daypack!
Best for: Frugal Travelers
Why We Like It: Thereâs enough room for everything in your wallet and then some.
What You Should Know: Youâll need to stow it in a daypack or other large gear.
We know what youâre thinkingâan AmazonBasics travel wallet? Stick with us. It might look like the little folder that the check comes in at a restaurant, but the AmazonBasics RFID Travel Passport Wallet can fit you, your partner, and your familyâs travel documents in one easy-to-access location.
In addition to holding everyoneâs passports, you will be able to stow cards, cash, and other gear inside. The exterior has a loop to secure it inside your pack for extra peace of mind. The design is thoughtfully crafted, so you know where all your important documents are at all times.
Best of all, it comes at a budget-friendly price so you can spend more on wontons, not a travel wallet.
Why We Like It: Clutch-style design looks as comfortable at a restaurant as at the airport.
What You Should Know: Button closure can be finicky.
Most travel wallets weâve come across have a more masculine style. There are options for those who prefer something different, but theyâre not as common. The ZOPPEN Mulit-purpose Rfid Blocking Passport Holder Travel Wallet utilizes a clutch-style design that fits in no matter where you end up.
The exterior is crafted from faux leather that looks professional and holds up well over time. The snap closure can be tricky, especially when not fully packed. There are a ton of fun colorways to choose from, and this travel wallet wonât break the bank, either.
The interior has a soft accent material to ensure your gear stays safe and scratch-free. It unfolds like a pamphlet, so youâll have enough room for everything you need, from Detroit to Delhi.
Why We Like It: It has a casual design that feels at home no matter where you end up.
What You Should Know: Sliding your passport in and out isnât always the quickest.
The Herschel Supply Co. Raynor may be described as a passport holder, but it operates like a travel wallet. Itâs crafted from leatherette, or synthetic leather, which is durable but shows cracks over time. These havenât compromise the material in our experience, though they are noticeable.
The interior has a simple design that can hold a few cards, cash, and a passport. The organization doesnât try to do or carry too much and ensures you donât overpack in the process.
However, itâs pretty large for what you can stow inside. It feels more like a standard model than a travel wallet. That might not work for some, but if you want to use something that reminds you of what youâre used to, it will do that perfectly. The model we have on hand has a black-and-white colorway thatâs sharp-looking and unique.
Why We Like It: American leather looks professional and rugged simultaneously.
What You Should Know: You canât fit a ton of gear inside for how large it is.
Weâve tested a lot of Trayvax Wallets here at Pack Hacker. Though their minimalist wallets are mostly made of metal, the Explorer Passport Wallet has a unique look all its own. Itâs crafted from genuine American leather that looks professional and rugged simultaneously.
The angled corners look almost art-deco and add to this walletâs stand-out design. It only comes in brown, but we feel that color suits it well.
On the interior, thereâs a window so you can see what card youâre sliding out. There isnât much room for gear here, but thereâs enough space for your travel essentials. In addition to offering an excellent passport wallet, Trayvax has a warranty that can be relied on. The warranty spans 65 years and covers any issues with materials or their work from general wear and tear.
Why We Like It: A classic look that your grandfather and grandchild can appreciate.
What You Should Know: The fold is rounded, so it takes up a lot of space.
Red Wing has been cranking out comfortable boots since just after the turn of the century, but they make other leather goods worth looking at, too. The Red Wing Shoes Passport Wallet is crafted from durable materials and feels as sturdy as weâd expect from such a reliable brand.
On the interior, the two sides are nearly identical. There are slide pockets for your passport(s), two slots for cards, and a larger pocket perfect for cash. There isnât a good spot for coins, so you might want to have an alternative place for that or avoid carrying it.
Given the durability of the leather, the crease isnât very flat, which gives this travel wallet a lot of width. It feels more comfortable in a sling or daypack, but you can throw it in your jacket pocket in a pinch.
Best for: Sustainable Travelers
Why We Like It: Has enough space to fit small gear inside, so it functions similar to a clutch bag.
What You Should Know: Itâs pretty bulky for the storage space you get.
Weâve tested a lot of Fjallraven gear over the years, a lot of which carries the Kanken name. The Fjallraven Kanken Travel Wallet is perfect for someone who already owns gear from the line or is looking for an ecosystem to invest in.
This passport wallet has lots of internal organization for your travel essentials and everyday gear. Thereâs an exterior phone pocket to keep everything in one place; however, plus-sized phones and large cases might not fit. When youâre phone is stowed inside, you can see the edges, which isnât the most flattering look.
There are numerous fun colorways, and the styling perfectly fits into the Kanken line. However, it works well with anything colorful. When not fully packed, the top of the wallet caves in a little. This doesnât affect usage, but it is noticeable.
Why We Like It: Enough room to stow your daily essentials and passport.
What You Should Know: Itâs a bit bulky, even for a small pouch.
The CODEOFBELL ANNEX CASE isnât a passport wallet per say, but it works exceptionally well for folks who want to go the extra mile in gear storage. The exterior has a durable shell with ample water resistance, so your gear inside will stay safe.
You can turn the case into a sling or crossbody bag, so you donât have to worry about whether or not it will fit into your pocket. Though that makes this thing is large and hefty, you can fit more gear inside than in a traditional travel wallet. It utilizes segmentation, separate zippered compartments, and liner pockets to ensure all your gear has a home.
It has a minimalistic design, but the black colorway might not be what everyone looks for in a pouch.
Why We Like It: A simple wallet for those who prefer the option to wear your essentials.
What You Should Know: It looks more like a purse than a wallet.
The Moment Crossbody Wallet is a mini sling that can be used as a wallet. You can carry it with the included wristlet or use the strap to keep your hands free. The design is more feminine, but the colorway lends itself to most outfits and any gender.
The strap clips donât feel the most secure, but we havenât had any issues with them coming undone. Thereâs enough space to segment your gear on the interior but not enough to drown it in organizational bureaucracy. That said, it can feel a bit tight, so itâs best for storing small gear like a phone or chapstick.
Whether at the airport or on a fancy date, the Moment Crossbody Wallet is the best travel wallet that's up for any occasion and ensures all your gear makes it home safely.
So there you have it! Hopefully, by this point, youâve chosen a few travel wallets that you can choose from for your next trip. Whether youâre heading to Texas or Tazmania, one of the passport wallets on this list will surely get your gear there safely.

The 7 Best Passport Holders of 2024, Tested and Reviewed

TripSavvy / Rachel Thalhuber
A passport holder is an essential item for the organized, put-together traveler. It offers a convenient way to protect your most important identity document, while also adding style points and an opportunity for personalization. These days, passport holders are typically much more than a simple protective sleeve. They often incorporate other features such as storage for essentials, including your bank cards and boarding pass, as well as RFID-blocking technology to minimize the risk of identity theft.Â
From smart leather splurges and crossbody solutions to budget-friendly purchases, the TripSavvy team put 15 popular passport holders (most of them wallet-style) to the test. Over the course of at least two weeks, we evaluated and scored each one for capacity, ease of use, quality, and value based on their performance in real-life travel scenarios. Our favorites are included below.
TripSavvyâs Picks
How we tested.
- What to Look For
Why Trust TripSavvy
Best overall, baphity genuine leather passport holder.
- Capacity 5 /5
- Ease of Use 5 /5
- Quality 5 /5
Quality materials and construction
Slim profile
Ideal amount of spaceÂ
Card slots can be stiff at first
Scoring perfect fives across our testing board, the Baphity Genuine Leather Passport Holder impressed us with its sturdy construction and high-quality materials. Made of 100 percent bovine leather with a smart, pebbled finish, we felt it could easily pass as a much more expensive product from a top-tier travel brand. It offers excellent value for money (and in fact, we decided after testing that we would happily pay quite a bit more for it). An RFID-blocking lining is included for your peace of mind.
Other features include slots for your air ticket, two SIM card pockets, and slots for three regular bank cards. The wallet also has a clear 4-inch by 3-inch slot perfect for immunization or medical cards that you need to keep visible. We found all slots very secure (so much so that it was a little tricky getting cards in and out until the leather had been broken in) and felt that the wallet offers the perfect amount of space. We loved its small size and slim profile. Choose yours with or without a zipper in a range of colors from pine green to wine red.Â
Size: 0.6 x 4.9 x 6.2 inches | RFID-blocking: Yes | Weight: 5.3 ounces

Best Budget
Tigari passport and vaccine card holder.
Simple yet chic design
Includes a convenient pen
Able to fit all travel essentials easily
Relatively largeÂ
Crafted from weather-resistant PU leather with a magnetic snap closure, the Tigari Passport Holder felt and looked much nicer than we expected given its budget price. We liked the simplicity of its design, with a slip-in section that held our passport securely and a clear window perfect for displaying an immunization or ID card. The wallet also features four bank or business card slots, a larger section for travel documents or cash, and two SIM card slots. We found we were able to fit all of our essentials with space to spare.Â
One of our favorite features was the included pen, perfect for filling in immigration documents on the go. This does add to the overall size and bulk of the holder, though, which means weâd be unlikely to use it as our everyday wallet (we found it difficult to fit into a small backpack compartment). Nevertheless, itâs perfect for travel especially because it uses RFID-blocking materials that protect your personal information from potential cyber theft. There is a diverse color selection to choose from, including rose gold, teal, matcha green, and more.
Size: 0.7 x 4.6 x 5.7 inches | RFID-blocking: Yes | Weight: 2.4 ounces

Best Splurge
Lucrin geneva passport travel wallet.
Gorgeous, high-quality aesthetic
Can accommodate a phone or Kindle
Customization options
On the larger side if youâre looking for something compact
Available in five styles of genuine leather from granulated to crocodile-style calfskin (the cheapest of which is more than 13 times the price of our overall winner), the Lucrin Passport Travel Wallet is certainly a luxury item for wealthy travelers that have literally everything else or a high-end gift. However, after testing, we can confirm that the quality is extremely high, with a buttery feel, perfect stitching, and a sturdiness that suggests this is a one-time investment that will last many years. The wallet comes in a rainbow of colors from lavender to tan or turquoise, and for an additional fee you can have yours monogrammed, change the thread color, or add RFID blocking.Â
More than a passport holder, itâs really a slim, elongated wallet with space for all your essentials. It has 13 credit card pockets, three loyalty card pockets, slots for your passport and boarding pass, and a zippered pocket for cash. We loved the all-in-one nature of this holder, which we found could even fit a phone or slimline Kindle. You could use it on its own or fit it into a medium-to-large purse or backpack. Despite its large size, we didnât find it cumbersome on any of the four flights we took it on. The organization is intuitive and we appreciated the sense of security offered by the zippered section and button latch.Â
Size: 9.8 x 9.1 inches | RFID-blocking: Optional

Melsbrinna Waterproof RFID-blocking Travel Wallet
Excellent value
Huge choice of colors and prints
Compact yet spacious
Nothing yet!Â
We were pleasantly surprised by the sturdy build and quality feel of the Melsbrinna Waterproof Travel Wallet, despite it being made of faux leather. We felt it was worth considerably more than its budget price, making this a stylish steal. It scores extra points for aesthetics by coming in almost every color imaginable from burgundy to mint green, as well several prints including panda and blossom. The holder is secured by a magnetic snap button closure and features RFID-blocking technology.Â
Storage includes a passport sleeve, which held our passport securely, but still allowed us to remove and replace it easily at airport security. The wallet also has four bank card slots; two SIM card slots; a larger section for holding boarding cards or cash; and a page-style, dual-sided clear plastic slot perfect for your driving license or state ID. We loved this productâs small size (we easily fit it in a fanny pack). We also loved that, despite its diminutive nature, we were able to fit everything we needed even when using it as our everyday wallet for three weeks.
Size: 0.7 x 4.7 x 5.7 inches | RFID-blocking: Yes | Weight: 3 ounces

Best Crossbody
Pacsafe rfidsafe v150 rfid-blocking compact organizer.
Recycled materials
Cut-resistant, reinforced strapÂ
Well-organized interiorÂ
Relatively expensive
The crossbody Pacsafe RFIDsafe V150 Compact Organizer scores sustainability points by using post-consumer recycled polyester (equivalent to five plastic bottles). The water-repellent, hard-wearing fabric and quality finishes, such as smooth zippers, makes the organizer well worth its higher price tag. The material is also RFID-blocking for added peace of mind, while the detachable strap is reinforced with Dyneema for cut-resistant durability.Â
We loved having a shoulder strap because it kept the organizer accessible during our tests and minimized the chances of accidentally leaving it behind in the airport terminal. Inside, it offers a secure mesh passport holder, six card slots, a slip pocket for your boarding pass, a pen loop, and a key attachment point. Thereâs even a zippered section for your coins or bills. We were able to fit all our travel essentials and liked that the organizer is capacious enough to use as a standalone bag, but also compact enough to fit inside a larger carry-on. It comes in one color: black.Â
Size: 0.8 x 4.9 x 6.7 inches | RFID-blocking: Yes | Weight: 4.8 ounces
Best for AirTag
Normest airtag travel wallet.
- Capacity 4.5 /5
Slim, compact size
High-quality, sustainable leather
Fits two passports
For the tech-savvy traveler (or just one thatâs prone to misplacing their valuables), we present the Normest AirTag Travel Wallet. Itâs crafted from environmentally certified leather with seamless stitching, andâin an innovation that we had never seen before prior to testingâis designed for Apple AirTag integration. That means that you can slip a tag into the purpose-built pocket, then use your phone to ring and locate the wallet if you lose it or look up where you last had it on a digital map.Â
This RFID-blocking holder is just a little bigger than a passport, resulting in a slim, compact product that adds barely any weight to your carry-on or purse. Your passport fits on one side, and on the other there are four card slots and a slip pocket that together provide space for up to 12 cards and 20 bills. We appreciated that you can just about fit a second passport and still fasten the clip closureâa nice touch if youâre used to looking after your loved oneâs passport for them when you travel together. Finally, this product is made to last and backed by a lifetime warranty.Â
Size: 0.4 x 4.1 x 5.5 inches | RFID-blocking: Yes | Weight: 1.9 ounces
TripSavvy/Dylan Thompson
Best for Families
Valante travel document organizer.
- Ease of Use 4.5 /5
21 pockets and slotsÂ
RFID-blocking, water-resistant fabric
Wrist and crossbody strapsÂ
Only one color choice
May be too large for smaller families
If you have a large family and they all give their passports to you to look after en route to your destination, the Valante RFID Passport Holder Wallet could be your new best friend. Itâs made from RFID-blocking, water-resistant Oxford fabric and itâs large enough to accommodate up to six passports. In addition to six passport sleeves, the book-style wallet offers two slip pockets for boarding passes or bills, two dedicated SIM and memory card pockets, and two large zippered pockets perfect for coins.Â
Thereâs also a zippered phone pocket and two letter-size document pouches on the exterior for quick-access essentials. We found that we had ample space for everything we wanted to take with us. The extra room is nice to have; however we did feel that the wallet runs the risk of being too large for smaller families. We loved that it has removable wrist and crossbody straps, and the sturdy, stylishly pale gray fabric is appealing. Your purchase is protected by a one-year warranty and a 60-day money back guarantee.Â

We love the Baphity Genuine Leather Passport Holder for its quality construction, gorgeous colors, slim build, and clever organization features, all of which are offered at a very reasonable price point. For a truly budget option, go for the chic, conveniently designed Tigari Passport Holder .
For this round-up, we tested 15 passport holders and scored each one on a scale of one to five for capacity, ease of use, quality, and value. We then used overall scores to select our category winners. Scores were based on the real-world experiences of our team of travel experts, who traveled with or used the holder as their everyday wallet at least three times over a period of two weeks. We evaluated how well our passports fit into each holder, their capacity for other essentials, the quality of materials, and any notable design features.Â
What to Look for in a Passport Holder
Intended use.
Passport holders fall into two main subcategories: simple protective sleeves that act as a weather- and spill-resistant cover for your passport only, and wallet-style holders that typically provide space for other essentials as well. Which is the better choice depends on your personal preference. If you already have a trusted carry-on, purse, or backpack to conveniently store the rest of your travel necessities and purely want to keep your passport in tip-top condition, a protective sleeve may be all you require. However, a wallet-style holder lets you keep everything in one place and may allow you to streamline your packing so much that you can use it as your primary personal item or carry-on.
Passport holders come in a variety of fabrics: most usually leather, faux leather, or polyester. Whichever you choose, look for quality materials built for long-lasting durability with reinforced seams and straps (if applicable). Leather is often perceived as the sturdiest and most stylish option, but can be expensive. There are good plastic-based, faux leather options out there that offer the same aesthetic for a fraction of the price while also scoring better in terms of sustainability and animal ethics (depending on their construction). RFID-blocking lining is a bonus for anyone concerned about cyber identity theft.
Passport holders keep precious documents protected and secure while traveling. However, be prepared to remove the passport from its case or cover when presenting it to customs officials.
Many passport holders do more than hold a single document. They contain extra slots and pockets for credit cards, IDs, cash, credit cards, and/or vaccination documents. You may find better peace of mind knowing that all your important documents are stored in the same place.
Many passport holders help store the document discretely and away from pickpocketsâ sticky fingers . If youâre opting for a passport cover instead of a holder, plan to keep your passport in a difficult location for thieves to access. For example, if you carry it in your purse or a backpack, zip it into an internal pocket. Donât carry it loosely or in an external bag pocket.
You should also keep backup copies of your passportâs identification pages. You can do this by taking pictures of the pages with your smartphone or photocopying hard copies. If you keep a hard copy, store these documents separately from your passport. Donât keep them with the original in your passport holder.

Not to be dramatic, but losing a passport or other travel documents can be a huge nightmare while traveling. To safeguard passports, credit cards, and boarding passes, we recommend using a passport wallet to keep everything organized in one spot.Â
We researched and tested 16 passport wallets in various sizes and materials to recommend options that fit the needs of all types of travelers. We paid close attention to traits like capacity, durability, functionality, and organizational features to ensure smooth travels. Keep reading to find out which ones surpassed our expectations during testing.Â
Best Overall
Leatherology zip around travel wallet.
- Capacity 5 /5
- Ease of Use 5 /5
- Quality 5 /5
The exterior zipper adds an extra layer of security to keep passports and credit cards safe while traveling.Â
It might be too large to fit in a smaller purse or sling bag .Â
While most passport wallets we tested have a snap-closure, this one has a zipper that wraps around the entirety of the wallet to ensure a passport and other travel essentials remain safely tucked away in transit. The versatile design is so spacious that it can easily hold multiple passports, up to eight credit cards, cash, and coins without feeling bulky or cumbersome to carry. Thereâs even an exterior pocket for boarding passes so you donât have to open up the wallet for access. It might be too big to fit in small purses, but the sleek leather look and larger size makes it possible to carry it as a clutch or place into a backpack or tote bag, if needed.Â

Bellroy RFID Travel Wallet
The wallet easily fits in a back pocket.Â
The wallet will be bigger if itâs packed full and may not fit then.Â
Minimalist travelers will appreciate the sleek and simple design of Bellroyâs RFID Travel Wallet. We dubbed it our favorite slim option since it can fit virtually anywhere, including in a back pocket (just be sure to take it out of your pocket before going through security). Made out of a soft and durable leather, it never scuffed or scratched while traveling and it looks premium on the outside. The wallet has pockets for a passport, cash, credit cards, and plane tickets, and we love that there arenât so many pockets that items get disorganized or lost in the void. The best part is that it opens like a standard wallet so we could quickly grab our passports and credit cards while traveling.Â

Best for Families
Valante travel document organizer.
- Ease of Use 4.5 /5
It has pockets for multiple passports, plane tickets, and cash.
The large capacity might be too big for solo travelers.Â
Family travel can be hectic, so we recommend this spacious wallet that can keep all of your familyâs important documents in one safe spot. Designed to store multiple passports, credit cards, plane tickets, and more, there are tons of pockets to place items neatly. Thereâs even a key leash, two zippered pockets, a pen holder, and two designated slip pockets for boarding passes in the front of the wallet. Because the wallet is on the larger side, we love that it comes with a wrist strap to hold onto it while going through customs or the TSA security line. The size might be too large for solo or minimalist travelers, but it works perfectly for staying organized while traveling in groups.Â
The Details: 10.63 x 5.91 inches | Polyester | RFID blocking
Travel + Leisure / Michael Navarro
Best Faux Leather
Melsbrinna waterproof rfid-blocking travel wallet.
The PU leather material feels just as soft and durable as regular leather.
The clear plastic window pockets could scratch over time.
Similar to our overall pick, this passport wallet isnât made out of genuine leather, but it has the same premium look and feel. Made with layers of PU leather, there is a piece of RFID-blocking fabric sandwiched between the material for extra protection while traveling with chipped documents. This sleek wallet comes with all of the standard pockets for a passport, credit cards, and boarding passes, but there were several other features that made it stand out in testing. We are big fans of the two SIM card slots and two plastic window pockets for extra organization for international travelers. Our only concern is that the plastic might scratch or wear over time, but it depends on how often you use the wallet and care for it.Â

Best Color Options
Lucrin geneva passport travel wallet.
The sleek and spacious wallet comes in over 21 colors and five leather texture options.
The premium materials come with a higher price.Â
One of our favorite leather passport wallets we tested, this one from Lucrin impressed us with a variety of color and texture options to please any and all travelers. There are over two dozen color options available and five different leather textures to choose from, including smooth, granulated, square granulated, vegetable tanned, and crocodile patterned. Once you narrow down your desired color and texture, weâre confident travelers will love the luxurious feel of the premium leather and generous capacity of the snap-closure wallet. It features several slip pockets, thirteen credit card slots, and a large zippered pocket for storing smaller items like coins or a pen. While the price is on the higher end, we believe you get what you pay for with this made-to-last passport wallet.Â
The Details: 9.8 x 9.1 inches | Leather

Best Crossbody
Pacsafe rfidsafe v150 rfid-blocking compact organizer.
It comes with a removable strap to keep the wallet attached to your body.
The strap isnât adjustable.
A lost passport can put a huge damper on a trip, so we recommend the Pacsafe RFID-blocking wallet with a removable crossbody strap for keeping your travel documents attached at the hip (literally). You can wear the strap across your body, on your wrist, or through a belt to ensure the wallet is securely fastened on the go. Besides the ability to wear the wallet as a purse, we love all of the slip and zippered interior pockets for a passport, credit cards, cash, or coins, which will keep you plenty organized. The nylon material is water-resistant with a thick and durable feel, so we expect this wallet will stand the test of time.
The Details: 6.69 x 5.12 inches | Nylon | RFID blocking

Best Budget
Tigari passport and vaccine card holder.
The high-quality materials and functionality of this wallet are unbeatable for the low price.
It feels a bit big to carry around.
If youâre trying to build a luggage capsule for traveling, this budget-friendly passport wallet makes a useful addition for all types of travelers. Although the wallet comes at a lower price, it doesnât lack durability and quality of materials. The PU faux leather case comes in a variety of neutral and bright colors, and it has sleek embossed wording on the front. The case opens up to reveal tons of organizational features for one passport, four credit cards, two SIM cards, and a slip pocket for cash. All of the pockets make it easy to grab travel documents quickly and the larger case keeps everything safe from damage during transit. The wallet is on the bigger side, so it might not fit in smaller purses , but it should fit in a backpack or personal item without any issues.
The Details: 4.33 x 5.9 inches | PU faux leather | RFID blocking
Travel + Leisure / Andria Park Huynh
Best Organization
Baphity genuine leather passport holder.
There are a variety of slip and zippered pockets available.Â
The card slots can be tight at first.Â
This genuine leather passport wallet is the best option for travelers prioritizing organization. Designed to store a passport, vaccine card, cash coins, boarding passes, and SIM cards, the wallet is bursting with pockets to efficiently organize items. After we filled it with travel documents, we were impressed with how slim and compact the wallet remained. The leather material is high-quality and durable, and we think the wallet has an excellent value for the construction and price point. We ran into slight issues with the card slots being a bit tight at first, but the material loosened up with more use, which made it easier to pull the cards in and out quickly.
The Details: 6.15 x 4.93 inches | Leather | RFID blocking
Travel + Leisure / Elise Wang
Best AirTag-compatible
Normest airtag travel wallet.
- Capacity 4.5 /5
The wallet has a designated pocket for storing an Apple AirTag for tracking and locating.
It has a smaller capacity.
Tracking devices can be a game-changer if your luggage gets lost, so we recommend this AirTag-compatible wallet. While the AirTag is sold separately, the wallet does come with a secure slot on the outside to discreetly store the tracking device. The genuine leather material is sleek and soft, and the wallet has a slim design that makes it easy to place it in a back pocket or small bag. It can fit a passport, three credit cards, and some cash before running out of room, so if youâre looking for a spacious wallet, this isnât the best option. However, sometimes itâs better to be safe than sorry, so this is a great option for AirTag enthusiasts .
The Details: 5.51 x 4.13 inches | Leather | RFID blocking

Most Stylish
Away the passport wallet.
It's compact enough to fit inside any sling bag, fanny pack, and even some pant pockets.
It's a bit small and really only fits your passport and a few cards.
This compact passport wallet has a slip pocket on the front for a passport and the side opens up to reveal several credit card slots and a bit of room for cash or a plane ticket. While the side pocket doesn't have a zipper, it is tight enough that all of our items felt secure and nothing moved when we shook the wallet vigorously. We love that the small size means you can fit this passport wallet in any bag and even some pant or coat pockets for quick access. We used this throughout six flights and it was never a hassle to get the passport in and out of the case, even while in a hurry. The black leather is very sleek and feels high-quality and hasn't scratched at all throughout our months of travels. For Away fans looking for a passport wallet to complete your matching style set, this is an absolute essential.
The Details: 5.43 x 4.25 inches | Leather
Other Passport Wallets We Liked
There were several passport wallets that almost made our list of winners, but we ran into some slight issues during testing.Â
Royce Vaccine Card and Passport Wallet : The wallet has a simple and functional design, but the price is fairly high for the smaller capacity and lack of extra organizational features.
Walnew AirTag Passport Holder : It has plenty of room to fit all necessary travel documents and it comes with an AirTag leash, but we liked that the other tracking device-compatible wallet we tried holds the tracker more discreetly.
We researched and selected 16 passport wallets to test out while traveling and in everyday scenarios. From busy TSA security lines to shopping and sightseeing, we made sure the best wallets make it easy to pull out passports, credit cards, IDs, and cash when youâre in a hurry. We paid close attention to the capacity and noted how efficient the organizational features are for storing essential travel documents. Since travel can take a toll on luggage and accessories, we judged the overall quality of the materials and stitchwork to gauge the longevity of each wallet.Â
Tips for Buying a Passport Wallet
Check the dimensions of the wallet.
Passports from around the world feature the same design and size, but youâll still want to make sure a passport wallet fits your size needs. Some wallets are designed to just be slightly larger than a passport and others will be large enough to fit the length of a boarding pass. It depends on the space youâll have in a bag, pocket, or backpack, so youâll want to consider how to store the wallet while traveling before making the purchase.
Decide how many compartments you need
Passport wallets are typically designed to hold a passport and a few credit cards, but some are equipped with more organizational features. The bigger the wallet, the more room and storage options there will be for multiple passports, credit cards, cash, and boarding passes. Extra features to look for include interior zippered pockets for coins, SIM card holders, and plastic window sleeves for IDs or vaccine cards.
Look for additional security features
Sometimes itâs better to be safe than sorry, so you may want to consider getting a passport wallet with an AirTag holder (AirTags are usually sold separately) to track the wallet in case it goes missing. Other security measures can include a wrap-around zipper to ensure passports and credit cards are secure and layers of RFID-blocking fabric to prevent cyber pick-pocketing.
Security and customs lines can be stressful, so itâs important to have your passport and other necessary documents out of any wallets or cases and ready to go. This will save time and make it easier to hand the documents over to an agent to speed up the process and eliminate unnecessary stress while traveling.
Radio frequency identification or RFID is technology commonly used in credit cards and passports to locate information and data quickly. It is possible to steal data from RFID documents, but there are some passport wallets with a fabric layer to block radio waves from transmitting. Although itâs uncommon for data to be stolen via RFID, the layer of fabric offers extra security and is designed to prevent criminals from taking information while traveling.Â

The trains and stations of the Moscow Metro
2 Comments · Posted by Alex Smirnov in Cities , Travel , Video
The Moscow Metro is the third most intensive subway system in the world after Tokyo and Seoul subways. The first line was opened on May 15, 1935. Since 1955, the metro has the name of V.I. Lenin.
The system consists of 12 lines with a total length of 305.7 km. Forty four stations are recognized cultural heritage. The largest passenger traffic is in rush hours from 8:00 to 9:00 and from 18:00 to 19:00.
Cellular communication is available on most of the stations of the Moscow Metro. In March 2012, a free Wi-Fi appeared in the Circle Line train. The Moscow Metro is open to passengers from 5:20 to 01:00. The average interval between trains is 2.5 minutes.
The fare is paid by using contactless tickets and contactless smart cards, the passes to the stations are controlled by automatic turnstiles. Ticket offices and ticket vending machines can be found in station vestibules.

The Gadgets We Bring on Every Trip
Updated March 15, 2024
Weâve reviewed this list and added a few new picks.
We've tested hundreds of gadgets, packed (and overpacked) for dozens of trips, flown hundreds of thousands of miles, and worked remotely from all over the world. But you don't have to be a digital nomad or a tech expert to travel like one. Here are a few gadgets and accessories to make travel as painless as possible via plane, train, or automobile, as well as at your destination.
Packing well means bringing only what you need. Pick things that are light, durable, and versatile.
Multiport USB wall charger
If youâre packing multiple chargers, itâs time to get something better. A single multiport USB charger can quickly charge all your devices at the same time and is barely bigger than the one that comes with a tablet. Some can even charge a laptop.
Affordable, fast, and compact, this four-port 40-watt USB-A charger is great for use at home or on the road.
This compact charger can power almost any USB-C laptop at top speed, and it works great for lower-powered devices, too.
Portable power strip
Packing a power strip that turns a single available outlet into three is an easy way to make quick friends out of potential enemies at airports, hostels, or anywhere outlets are at a premium.
This compact strip gives you three AC outlets and two USB power ports but doesnât take up much space in a bag or weigh you down.
With 3 AC outlets, 2 USB-A ports, and 1 USB-C, this compact little cube has 5 feet of extension cord and will easily charge even power-hungry MacBooks. About the size of a tennis ball, it packs up easily into your carry-on and comes with an 18-month warranty.
USB power bank
A power bank ensures that your phone never runs out of battery when you need it.
This power bank is small and light, and it has enough capacity to charge most smartphones up to three times.
Cables and adapters for your devices
Your devices won't do you much good if you don't have the right cables to charge them. We suggest packing a spare for any mission-critical gear (in a separate bag if possible) just in case you lose one.
Ankerâs PowerLine Lightning cables are fast, sturdy, and inexpensive, plus they come with a lifetime warranty. The 6-foot version is great for travel, when conveniently placed outlets are in short supply.
This cable is MFi-certified, sturdily built, and comfortable to grip, and it has a lifetime warranty. The 6-foot version is long enough to reach from a wall outlet to a nightstand or desk.
Ankerâs PowerLine cables are fast, sturdy, and inexpensive, plus they come with a great warranty. The 6-foot version is great for travel.
This 6.6-foot cable rated for 100 watts can recharge even large laptops such as the 16-inch MacBook Pro, but it supports only USB 2.0 data-transfer speeds.
This cable can charge any USB-C laptop, even the 16-inch MacBook Pro, at full speed. Itâs overkill (and short) for charging a phone, though.
Noise-cancelling headphones
Noise-cancelling headphones make it easier to hear music or movies over whatever cacophony is playing out around you. Or just wear them without sound to luxuriate in your private sanctuary.
The ideal travel companion, this pair of earbuds offers excellent noise cancellation, great sound, and long battery life.
The Bose 700 headphones deliver excellent noise cancellation in a comfortable, lightweight design thatâs traveler friendly.
Virtual private network subscription
A VPN can keep your phone, laptop, or tablet secure when youâre logging in from public Wi-Fi; it can also help you get around regional censors and access the US version of sites while youâre abroad.
Mullvad is transparent about its security and privacy practices. The VPN offers reliable connections and is easy to use on laptops, phones, and tablets.
Two-factor authenticator app
Two-factor authentication gives you an extra layer of security for your important accounts. An app is more secure than SMS verification and works without a cell or data connection.
Duo Mobile is free, available on both Android and iPhone, and easy to use, and its security features are better than those of other two-factor authentication apps.
Password manager
A password manager is essential all the time, but itâs especially important when youâre traveling, so your passwords stay strong, secure, and accessible wherever you are in the world.
1Password now offers its extensive set of bells and whistles across all major platforms, including Windows and Chrome OS. With excellent security and a clear user interface, itâs the password manager to beat.
The free version of Bitwarden covers all the basics of a good password manager and doesnât cost anything. But it lacks a feature that checks password strength and doesnât have encrypted file storage.
Nice-to-haves
For long trips and international journeys, here are some optional items to keep you connected, organized, and entertained.
Bluetooth tracker
If you want to locate your luggage in case an airline loses your bag or you accidentally leave it somewhere, a Bluetooth tracker can help you keep tabs on your items.
AirTags use Appleâs huge network of devices to track down lost items, and theyâre impressively accurate in pinpointing an itemâs precise location.
The Tile Mate has a long range and takes up virtually no space in a suitcase. Its network isnât as extensive as Appleâs, but itâs the best Android-compatible tracker weâve tested.
Cable organizer bag
A bag can keep your cables, adapters, dongles, and small electronics stowed neatly and easily accessible.
The fine mesh makes it easy to see what these zip-top bags contain (though isn't water resistant), and the bags come in two sizes and colors so you can create a modular system for your cables, cosmetics, or whatever else you need.
Laptop backpack
A good backpack will protect your laptop from damage, and keep all your stuff organized and easy to find.
Refined detailsâincluding leather accents and gunmetal hardwareâelevate this travel-friendly packâs simple silhouette.
Travel plug adapter
Most modern electronic power supplies can work with voltages from 100 to 250 V, but you still need an adapter for the wall socket if you're traveling internationally.
Small, simple, and cheap, this set is perfect for someone who wants to carry only the adapter theyâll need and who already has a multiport USB wall charger they like.
With four plugs that will work in most countries, plus built-in faster-charging USB ports, this adapter has more features for a little more money.
Portable AC battery pack
If you have a laptop that doesn't charge via USB, an AC battery pack will charge it (and all your USB devices too).
This portable charger has an AC outlet, two fast-charging USB-C ports, and a USB-A port, and it can charge even the most power-hungry laptops while theyâre in use. But you need to provide your own wall charger.
Ebook reader or tablet
With an e-reader or tablet, you can enjoy endless entertainmentâwhether it's books, comics, movies, or gamesâin a slim package.
This Kindleâs features and price, coupled with Amazonâs vast collection of reading material, make it the best device dedicated to reading.
The standard iPad is fast, easy to use, and compatible with the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard, and it offers the features most tablet users need.
International phone plan
Most phones now work worldwide, but international roaming can be nearly free or outrageously expensive. Weâve researched the best mobile phone services for the majority of frequent international travelers.
With coverage in more than 210 countries and no international data roaming fees, T-Mobile Magenta is the best plan for most people who travel frequently and already own their phone.
Streaming stick
A portable media streamer can make a hotel room TV feel like your TV at home.
Easy to set up, the Roku stick supports huge numbers of streaming channels, works with hotel Wi-Fi portals, and gets all the power it needs from the TV's USB port. And its smartphone app lets you leave the remote at home.
USB data blocker
USB data blockers let you charge your devices from other peoples' USB ports (including charging kiosks) without the risk of their accessing your phone's data or infecting it with malware.
The PortaPow lets you charge your phone or other USB device from a USB port without worrying about accidental data transfer or malware infection, and unlike some others, it won't limit your charging speed.
Nintendo Switch
The Switch is a great home game console but also a great portable console for travel.
If you want a console you can disconnect from the TV and take with you, or if you just prefer Nintendoâs games, the Switch is for you.
If you don't want to risk your laptop or the data on it, a Chromebook is inexpensive, secure, and ideal for international travel. You can even wipe it before you travel and set it up when you get to your destination.
Reliable performance, a spacious touch display, and long-enough battery life for a full workday make this model the best Chromebook for the price.
This Asus model is a less expensive option that doesnât sacrifice performance, but its non-touch display isnât as tall, vibrant, or convenient as that of our top pick.
Things to skip
Global travel SIM card
These are very expensive for what they offer. You're better off with a local SIM, a good international data plan, or a phone that supports eSIM so you can activate a local data plan without buying a physical SIM card.
International hotspot
We haven't yet found an international hotspot worth the money. A better bet is to rent one upon arrival, find a hotel or cafĂŠ with Wi-Fi, or tether from your phone.

Touring the Top 10 Moscow Metro Stations
By Claudia Looi 2 Comments
Komsomolskaya metro station looks like a museum. It has vaulted ceilings and baroque decor.
Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations â the metro stations of Moscow.
Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as âthe palaces for the people.â Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.
The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldnât keep up with her stories. I donât remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow. Â Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who canât read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.
The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:
1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.
2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.

3. Arbatskaya Metro Station served as a shelter during the Soviet-era. It is one of the largest and the deepest metro stations in Moscow.

4. Biblioteka Imeni Lenina Metro Station was built in 1935 and named after the Russian State Library. It is located near the library and has a big mosaic portrait of Lenin and yellow ceramic tiles on the track walls.

5. Kievskaya Metro Station was one of the first to be completed in Moscow. Named after the capital city of Ukraine by Kiev-born, Nikita Khruschev, Stalin's successor.

6. Novoslobodskaya Metro Station was built in 1952. It has 32 stained glass murals with brass borders.

7. Kurskaya Metro Station was one of the first few to be built in Moscow in 1938. It has ceiling panels and artwork showing Soviet leadership, Soviet lifestyle and political power. It has a dome with patriotic slogans decorated with red stars representing the Soviet's World War II Hall of Fame. Kurskaya Metro Station is a must-visit station in Moscow.

8. Mayakovskaya Metro Station built in 1938. It was named after Russian poet Vladmir Mayakovsky. This is one of the most beautiful metro stations in the world with 34 mosaics painted by Alexander Deyneka.

9. Belorusskaya Metro Station is named after the people of Belarus. In the picture below, there are statues of 3 members of the Partisan Resistance in Belarus during World War II. The statues were sculpted by Sergei Orlov, S. Rabinovich and I. Slonim.
10. Teatralnaya Metro Station (Theatre Metro Station) is located near the Bolshoi Theatre.
