We got back yesterday and had zero glitches our entire trip. The transportation was on time and easy to find, check in and out was efficient etc. It was amazing and the hotel and staff were accommodating and kind. I would recommend to anyone. You should ask about flight options because depending on the size of your group, they have different options (some with better times).

Exchange student 2000-2001

I was an exchange student with STS in the schoolyear of 2000-2001 and went from the Netherlands to the USA. I left on august 18th 2000, which was too late to attend the Welcome orientation days in New York, but i still had an amazing year which couldn't have been better than the way it turned out. Beforehand STS had an information night and i also needed to do an interview in English. Afterwards i eventually got accepted and they found me a host family 2 weeks before i left. I was placed in the small town of North Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and had a blast. Even now, 23 years later, still so many memories and mutiple times i visited after my exchange year for reunions, weddings and also friends and host family members that have visit me here in my country. Its a year in a life but you take it with you for the rest of your life. Im also still in touch with my area representative, Calla Kuehl, who was someone from another organisation that was my go to person when i had questions of things that needed being taken care of. She is the best. Its been an amazing experience and if you have the chance to take it, please do! You'll love it.

I had the best time ever!

My exchange semester with STS was the best experience of my life! STS helped me with everything and prepared me for my time abroad. I stayed in Canada for 5 months and I loved it. I met so many amazing people from all over the world, made friendships that will last even after my time in Canada and I tried lots of new things. Also I couldn't imagine a better host family. I would 100% recommend everyone, who has the opportunity, to study abroad! It is something you will never forget and you learn a lot. Not only was I able to improve my language skills but also to grow as a person. I appreciate everything I got from that semester! Thank you STS!

The program was great but, there was a time when I was offered a trip to Xi'an with my fellow STS students and it was canceled. The reason behind it was that because there was so little of us we either all had to go or no one goes. I understand the reasoning as there was only four of us but I really wish I could have gone with my friends. Luckily I was still able to go to Xi'an later but it was only with my teacher, it was fun but I wish I could have shared the experience.

My exchange was life changing

My exchange was, without a doubt, the best experience in my life so far. I recommend one to every young person I meet since the experience. I came out of the exchange, a more confident, empathetic, and overall happier person. I am very grateful for the opportunities that received and I thank Sts for allowing me to partake in having a cultural exchange.

We trust STS!

Our daughter just now spends a highschool-year in the USA with STS. We had and have still a very good experience with STS and especially Philine Kowalski, who manages the Viennese office of STS. As the organisation is small, some things take a litte longer, especially the information about the hostfamily and the location of our daughter came quite late and required some patience from us. But - we were informed by STS in advance about that and never had a reason not to trust the organisation. Everything worked out well, the preparation day in Austria was great and our daughter hast the BEST hostfamily one could think of! Thank you, STS, for all!

Today its Thanksgiving.

Today its Thanksgiving. I just received a phonecall from my hostparents as I usually do on holidays or special occasions. We have a strong bond and I really feel lucky having them. I often think about them and how much my year in Atlanta Georgia changed and affected my life. We have kept contact and met many times over the years. My kids have american "cousins" for life. We always keep reminding each other how lucky we are that we got the opportunity to meet through the exchange program back in 1983. Just unbelievable. Thank you STS education! /Hans

Great personal service

Ms Kowalski , the person in charge in Vienna did a great job. It took us a long time for a decision and we had some special wishes. Ms Kowalski took care, that our daughter got a perfect host family. Whenever there is a question Ms.Kowalski and her team triy to find a solution. It is really a good experience and I can recommend STS 100%.

STS – the best in finding a good family for your child!

STS puts great emphasis on finding a well-fitting family for your child. The most important thing for a young person abroad, far off his or her own family, is not the size of a city or the notoriety of a school, it is definitely the place they live at for five or even ten months. The family members, the sisters and brothers, maybe even the pets ... Our daughter came to a wonderful family in Louisiana, U.S., and she just loved them and her time abroad! :)

STS experience - Vienna branch office

STS and particularly the Vienna office did a great job so that we felt very comfortable with the whole buying and placing process. Our daughter is very happy in the US and enjoys her exchange year and loves her host siblings and familiy very much.

Disappointment

Dear STS, Our daughter has been in the USA since August and is very happy there. Unfortunately, the road here was very rocky. You as an organization receive a lot of money for placing the children with good host families. Planning for this begins a year in advance. Unfortunately, we didn't know where we were going or whether it would even work until a week before departure. NY was only taken for a short time. The host family is great, but here too, problems that exist within the family and could have a negative impact on our child should be clarified in advance. A subsequent charge of €1000 for a placement without notice or an additional contract is not legal. I find your price transparency very questionable anyway. There is a friendly and competent employee B.Aksoy - but he is also not allowed to make any decisions. There is still a lot to improve, if they don't have enough places available, then they won't accept as many applicants. The disappointment for these young people is so powerful!

USA High School Exchange

STS Education was so very accommodating with my American exchange experience.They managed to match me with a host family whom I will stay forever friends with, already been back to visit in Kansas 5 times. The year abroad had an incredible influence on me and I haven’t been home since. Sorry mom and dad (and thanks!😉)

The most horrible experience of my life

I had the most horrible experience of my life. I don't blame STS for the host family that i ended up with, but i would have appreciated STS's support and presence in order to be able to move to another family. Instead i did not feel safe at all and didn't have anyone to talk to. After years i am still horrified by my experience. I do not recommend STS

Can´t recommend STS at all

Our daughter supposed to go to the USA. We fulfil all the requirements, expend a lot of money on the vaccines, visa, etc. until suddenly, a month before the expected departure, they told us that we needed to sign a paper where we accepted that our daughter may not be accepted anymore, due one of her grades. We needed to push for an update all the time, until the deadline the 31st of August, where they told us that STS did not manage to find a place for her, and the only option was a private school with a significally additional cost. Still her departure to the USA would be too late for the welcome trip in New York. Same day they gave us another options in other counties and we had 1 day to decide where. In a hurry we decided Costa Rica and needed to wait additional couple of days for information of the host family and the first communication with the host mom was just 2 days before her departure. no time at all, to learn more about them. It seems that STS is underman. STS did not had the capacity to handle all the students they said yes to, in the beginning. Sad that we did not investigate STS, before we sign our daughter up with STS.

Dear Diana, Your daughter had a conditional acceptance to the USA due to her grades, and in the end, it unfortunately meant that we could not find a school in the USA that would accept her. We are happy that we could offer you an alternative destination. Within two weeks we were able to present a host family and school spot in Costa Rica, and we know that she had a very successful exchange program. Last year many exchange organizations struggled with placements and most of them were not able to give their students this chance. /STS Education

Great experience with STS support

My experience in the US with STS was great. I had an amazing family with who I'm still in contact. My American parents really made me feel part of their family treating me as if I was their son. During this the period abroad and before STS was very supportive at organizational level as well as at emotional level before leaving and during the first period in the US that is often the hardest one.

High School Exchange to USA

I spent one year as an high school exchange student in Mississippi and had a fantastic time. The reason I chose to go with STS was their flexibility in finding a good host family, as well as their support both before departure and whilst in the US. I only had good experiences dealing with STS and can highly recommend them to anyone thinking about doing an exchange year!

Exchange year with STS

I was an exchange student in Germany with STS in the year 2022/2023 and my experience abroad could not have been any better!!!!🤩🤩 They helped me since the beginning and when I had questions or doubts they have been very nice and helpful.🤗 STS found the perfect host family match for me and helped me throughout the whole experience. If you are thinking of doing an exchange year I suggest you to do it with STS because you will not regret it!🫶

We just recently wanted to send our son…

We just recently wanted to send our son to study in Vienna. We has a quite negative experience with STS. They claim to find what we wanted, but then they send you to a village 100km away from the desired place. Also they tell you a price and then ask for double the amount. We do not recommend this service, since you ara paying for nothing. They family your child stays with does not get paid.

I had a fantastic experience from my high school year in California

I had a fantastic experience from my high school year 1986-1987 in California! Thank you STS! Looking back at my life I understand and appreciate everything I got from that year and how I grew and developed as a person. To come to a new country, live with a new family, new school and make new friends was fun and exiting but also time to time challenging. It made me become a strong woman with a lot of self confidence. I learned so much and also to be on my own and manage all situations. This is something I have had with me in my personal life and also in my working life and career. One of the best gifts from this time is the friendship with some of my dear friends from high school. We made beautiful relationships that meant a lot to me back then and it means a lot to me after all this years since we still have contact,

Years ago I went on exchange with STS Education to the USA. And I'm still thankful that I did! STS Exchange

My exchange year with STS was amazing. I'm from Austria and went to the USA in 2021-22. The coordinators in Austria as well as in America were always supportive - not only before, but also during and after my journey. They helped with the whole application, VISA, questions I had, cancelled flights, any problems and everything else on the way. My host family was perfect, because we had similar interests and they really treated me like their own kid. My school was very welcoming and gave me the opportunity to try out EVERYTHING, no matter if I was good at it or not. From my experience, STS is perfectly organized and they really focus on every exchange student individually! There are many different programs and extras you can choose from and the prices are fitting for the services they offer and the work they do.
