An absolute brilliant show. My nearly 3 yr old loved every second and joined in with all the audience participation parts. So cleverly staged.

Show cancelled

19 December 2023

Very disappointed got a email at 930 on Monday 18th December to say the show was cancelled for that day. Very upset 3 year old granddaughter. Had planned a day out in London and her first visit to the theatre. Was not offered any alternative, which would have been appreciated just told I would be reimbursed within 28 days luckily I was able to get tickets for the Smartest giant in town so our day went ahead has planned, but felt sorry for people who were not in a position to pay out for extra theatre tickets.

perfect introduction to theatre

7 December 2023

Our daughter, who is 2 and 9 months loved the show - it captivated her from start to finish. Beautifully directed and performed with just enough audience interaction that was enjoyable and not scary for little ones. This is the perfect introduction to theatre for fans of Stick Man.

Perfect for toddlers!!

13 November 2023

Took my 4 year old son as his 1st experience with theatre, he liked it a lot - and I definitely enjoyed it myself. Loveld the jazzy music, loved the interactive parts-also just the appropriate length to keep a (very active) toddler adequately engaged! Wonderful experience, great for Christmas!

This much-loved adaptation from Freckle Productions, the team behind  Zog  and  Zog and the Flying Doctors,  features a trio of top actors and is packed full of puppetry, songs, live music and funky moves. Casting for both venues will be announced later this year.

Executive producer Jennifer Sutherland said, “ We are so excited that our beloved Stick Man – a perennial festive family favourite – will have sit down seasons in two major cities this Christmas. After twelve years at the Leicester Square Theatre, we’re so excited to move to a new London home at the Bloomsbury Theatre. We are working with a brilliant team – designer Katie Sykes, lighting designer El Higgins and director Mark Kane to add even more sparkle and beauty to the show in this jewel of a theatre in London’s West End and at the superb Quays Theatre at The Lowry Salford.”

Stick Man  is adapted from the book by Julia Donaldson, the multi award-winning author of some of the world’s best loved children’s books including  The Gruffalo  and  Zog . Julia is best known for her popular rhyming stories for children, especially those illustrated by Axel Scheffler, which have sold over 75 million copies and have been published in over 100 languages.

Stick Man   is a perennial bestseller and  has been translated into 23 languages.  In 2015, Magic Light Pictures premiered the animated film of  Stick Man  with an all-star cast including Martin Freeman, Jennifer Saunders and Hugh Bonneville. The film was the 4th most-viewed 2015 Christmas Day TV programme in the UK, and the book went to number one in the children’s chart. In  2023  Stick Man  celebrates its 15 th  anniversary.

Fans struggling to get refunds after ‘disrespectful’ 00s pop group postpone entire tour

After a triumphant first leg in the US , 00s icons The Jonas Brothers have infuriated their fanbase as they postpone all their concerts in Europe.

The trio — Kevin , Joe , and Nick Jonas — announced ‘exciting projects’ that meant they had decided to hold off on the next section of their Five Albums One Night tour.

This announcement has not sat well with ticket-holders, many of whom had booked accommodation and travel in order to see the Sucker hitmakers in the next three months.

‘We have shifted the European dates to later this year, but that is only because we have some exciting projects that we’re very excited to share with you at a later point,’ Nick shared.

He continued: ‘European fans, we love you, we can’t wait to see you, it’s been long overdue. And we are so excited to play these shows later this year, in the fall.’

Kevin chimed in that gig-goers should hold onto their tickets as they will still be valid in October, however, it seems disappointed fans are now demanding refunds.

https://www.instagram.com/p/C5lit73r3XW/?hl=en

Across social media the band has been denounced by their loyal followers , as Samariya Mileth vented: ‘Honestly… what the F is wrong with the Jonas Brothers management?

‘At this point, they’ll have 0 fans left outside US. They just postpone shows like it’s a walk in the park, it happened in Mexico (more than once) and now happened in Europe. So disrespectful and disappointing.’

The change of dates moves gigs from May and June — competing with Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour — to September and October, when schools go back.

On X, Isabel Sofie added: ‘Jonas Brothers rescheduling their tour without a decent apology is just so so disrespectful. Yes life happens, but so does the life of the fans who have planned everything around these dates.’

What the heck kind of project just sprung up out of nowhere that was SO important that its worth wasting your fans’ money? What, another music video or something? This project cant wait? Also why start or agree to a project knowing you are busy with a tour? Disrespectful. — Whitney H (@DancingShadow18) April 12, 2024
This is really disrespectful and shows that you’re only interested in 💰 you can’t do that 1 month before the show. Are you going to pay the hotels and flights that we already bought months ago??? Been a fan since the beginning and I’m really disappointed — Beatriz Navarro (@navarrob95) April 11, 2024
@jonasbrothers I paid for tickets to your show in June and I am feeling incredibly disappointed that you have moved your dates due to “exciting projects”. There wasn’t an acknowledgment of this disruption in your communications. No sorry, no option for refunds. This is not okay. — Asha!!💞 (@AshaAshasutton) April 12, 2024

However, it may be more than an apology needed at this point as fans took to social media to lament the difficulty in accessing refunds.

Many rescheduled travel and accommodation or cancelled where possible but particularly those with tickets to Milan have struggled to get their money back.

Commenting on a viral TikTok by @mentallygrowing247, Connie Austin shared: ‘I’m from the uk and bought tickets to see them in Milan, we tried to get a refund but couldn’t because the show wasn’t cancelled and the organisers haven’t authorised it.’

Mara replied: ‘Same for Milan!!!! I live in Greece booked for Milan, and I’m trying to get a refund back and I got no response from vivaticket.’

Joe Jonas on stage

Other helpful fans asked if Connie had contacted the seller, to which she replied: ‘Yeahh we emailed them and they explained that because it isn’t cancelled we can’t get a refund – we’re going to keep trying.’

Vivaticket appeared to be a sore spot for Italian fans, especially as the website’s FAQ states service fees for buying the tickets are not part of the refund.

In response to the Jonas Brothers’ tweet, X was flooded with people asking how to get their money back as no easy route was to be given in emails received by ticket holders.

Word-of-mouth seems to be how many fans have accessed refunds, with the solution being contacting contact customer services and arguing their case.

UK fans who purchased through Ticketmaster appear to be able to get a full refund by reaching out to the distributor, with many already seeing money back in their banks.

It’s unknown how many fans are requesting refunds but if social media is anything to go by, the Jonas Brothers could be looking at a very low turnout.

Some have speculated they may even end up cancelling after the immense backlash and possibly empty seats.

Currently, Australia is hosting the former Disney stars but fans have reported slashed prices on the doors as venues in Melbourne and Sydney failed to be filled.

Aussie fans complained that tickets previously costing $200 are now being flogged for $80 and even ‘free’, according to some last minute gig-goers.

However, other videos showed a packed out venue dancing away to SOS, Lovebug, and other hits.

The Jonas Brothers will now come to the UK for eight gigs in early September, with tickets still available through Ticketmaster.

Metro.co.uk has reached out to Live Nation, Vivaticket, and the Jonas Brothers for comment.

Politics latest: UK urging Israel 'not to escalate' in Middle East, Cameron says

Lord Cameron, the foreign secretary, has told Sky News he hopes Israel won't hit back with a "retaliatory response" after Iran's attack. Listen to this week's episode of Politics at Jack and Sam's as you scroll.

Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron today met with Alexei Navalny's widow, Yulia Navalnaya.

Russian opposition figure Mr Navalny died while incarcerated earlier this year.

Lord Cameron said: "Alexei Navalny dedicated his life to exposing the corruption of Putin’s system and speaking up for the Russian people – @yulia_navalnaya is continuing his fight.

"I was honoured to meet her today."

The UK has today imposed sanctions on businesses which support activity of the military groups behind the conflict in Sudan.

Companies with links to both the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the two warring parties, will face new limits to their financial freedom a year after fighting began in the north-east African country.

Those facing sanctions include Alkhaleej Bank, which has helped RSF to finance its operations and to control key elements of the Sudanese economy, and Al-Fakher Advanced Works, a holding company used by the RSF to export gold.

Red Rock Mining will also see the measures imposed. It is a mining and exploration company which is a subsidiary of Sudan Master Technology, which the UK has already designated, and provides funds to the SAF.

MPs return to Westminster today after two weeks away, to the possibility of dangerous escalation in the Middle East.

But this is a week the prime minister will also need to avoid danger domestically if he is to see through some of the key policies on which his political survival depends.

One is the legislation to declare Rwanda a safe country, which Downing Street expects will finally receive royal assent this week.

It holds the prospect of finally sending some failed asylum seekers on planes there, which the government has trumpeted as a deterrent to small boat crossings.

The Sky News live poll tracker - collated and updated by our Data and Forensics team - aggregates various surveys to indicate how voters feel about the different political parties.

As the local election campaign gets under way, Labour is still sitting comfortably on a roughly 20-point lead, averaging at 43.3% in the polls, with the Tories on 23.6%.

In third is Reform UK on 12.5%, followed by the Lib Dems on 9.4%.

The Green Party stands at 6.3%, and the SNP on 3.0%.

A total of 534 people crossed the Channel in small boats on Sunday, the highest number on a single day so far this year.

The new Home Office data means the cumulative number of arrivals by small boats in 2024 now stands at a provisional total of 6,265.

This is 28% higher than the total at the equivalent point last year, which was 4,899, and 7% higher than the total at this stage in 2022, which was 5,828.

Some 10 boats were detected on Sunday, which suggests an average of around 53 people per boat.

There were 29,437 arrivals across the whole of 2023, down 36% on a record 45,774 arrivals in 2022.

Liz Truss has revealed she considered abolishing the UK's economic watchdog and replacing leaders at the Treasury and Bank of England, accusing the bodies of being "pro-China" and "pro-Remain".

The country's shortest serving prime minister said she discussed scrapping the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) with her Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng but concluded it would have "amounted to a declaration of war on the economic establishment".

In an extract from her memoir published by the Daily Mail, Ms Truss says the OBR, Treasury, and Bank of England "were more interested in balancing the books than growing the economy" and saw immigration "as a way of fixing the public finances".

Defending her September 2022 mini-budget - which led to a surge in borrowing costs and saw the pound slump to a 37-year low against the dollar - the former prime minister said she would "accept that the communications around the mini-budget were not as good as they could have been".

Lord Cameron, as foreign secretary, hasn't shied away from criticising Israel and Benjamin Netanyahu during the six-month Gaza war. He has been one of the more forthright diplomats, particularly pressing for more action to relive the humanitarian crisis and clearly feels he is on strong ground.

Asked three times on whether he thought the Israeli prime minister had good judgement, he was initially non-committal although admitted he had had his differences with Netanyhau. "Not letting more aid into Gaza was a mistake. It was bad judgement not to open up that aid sooner," he said, with reference to the planned opening of Ashdod port.

Addressing the events over the weekend, Cameron, reluctantly, said Iran had a right to respond to the attack on its consulate but said that the assault on Saturday night was disproportionate.

"We would take very strong action," Cameron admitted when asked what Britain would have done if one of their diplomatic buildings was "flattened".

"Countries have a right to respond when they feel they've suffered aggression, of course they do."

But, the foreign secretary added: "I would argue that there is a massive degree of difference between what Israel did in Damascus and 301 weapons being launched by the state of Iran at the state of Israel. For the first time a state-on-state attack.

"I think a reckless and dangerous thing to have done.

"If you're sitting in Israel this morning you’re thinking they have every right to respond to this, and they do, but we are urging that they shouldn't escalate.

"This is a time to think with head as well as heart. To be smart as well as tough."

Cameron won’t be shy in delivering this message to Israel's leaders. Whether they will listen however, is not certain.

Ukraine has used British cruise missiles to hit a Russian military headquarters in the occupied city of Luhansk in the east of the country, a military source has told Sky News.

The Storm Shadow missiles - launched by Ukrainian aircraft - targeted the command base for Russian ground troops on Saturday in what the source described as a "heavy blow" for the Russian armed forces.

"This strike furthers Ukraine's campaign to liberate the Luhansk region from the Russian Federation's illegal invasion and ensure that Russia is not able to advance further into Ukraine," the source said.

The loss of the headquarters would impact Russia's ability to command its forces in the surrounding Luhansk region, according to the source, who shared the information on condition of anonymity.

Earlier, Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron spoke to Sky News about the situation in the Middle East after Iran launched 300 missiles and drones at Israel on Saturday.

He urged Israel not to retaliate, saying a lack of escalation in the region should be the priority.

You can hear more of what he had to say below:

Later today, the Safety of Rwanda bill will return to the Commons, where MPs will consider the latest round of Lords amendments to the legislation.

Despite this, Conservative MP Sir John Hayes has said he thinks the House of Lords "will give way" on the law.

He told the BBC: "Conservatives are believers in the balance between the courts and parliament and too often, particularly in respect of immigration, appeals to legal redress have been used to block deportations, have been used to frustrate the will of parliament, frustrate government policy, and so this is a rebalancing of the relationship between two elements of the state and parliament's will is clear, it reflects the will of the people and it must be done."

He added: "Of course, it's right that there is a balance between Commons and Lords and indeed between parliament and the executive but when a government devises and wants to implement a policy which is clear and precise in terms of its objectives, the Lords shouldn't stand in its way...and I think in the end the Lords will give way on this because they recognise that balance."

As a reminder, parliament will sit from 2.30pm today.

We are expecting a statement from the prime minister on the situation in the Middle East and Home Office Questions before the Rwanda debate will begin.
