How To Save Money On Longleat Tickets

How To Save Money On Longleat Tickets

We recently visited Longleat for the first time in a couple of years and were astonished to find that even after booking ahead, ticket prices had increased by £15 per adult!

So, I decided to take a look at some of the ways you can save money on Longleat tickets if you’re planning a trip to the Safari and animal park in the coming months.

What Is The Price Of Longleat Tickets?

These are the standard price of Longleat tickets when booked online or purchased at the gates.

The Longleat website advises booking tickets in advance to avoid any disappointment on the day as it can get reach full capacity, especially during the summer months and during special events such as the winter light spectacular.

Adult (16yrs+)  £39.95

Child (3-15yrs)  £29.95

Infant (0-2yrs)  £0.00

Carer (Any)  £0.00

What Does My Longleat Ticket Include?

The price of your Longleat ticket includes the drive through Safari and access to the main park where you’ll find lots of exciting things to do including the hedge maze, children’s adventure zone, Rockin’ Rhino ride, animal adventure zones, boat rides to see the Sealions and Gorillas and the Longleat Railway.

Ticket prices do not include a tour of Longleat House (this is an additional £4.95 per person) or access to the Longleat Safari bus (which is an additional £9 per person) for those who do not wish to take their own vehicles through the Safari.

There is also an additional charge of £1 for fish if you would like to feed the Sealions.

Longleat is a cashless site and so all transactions must be made via card payment.

Can I Get A Refund On A Prebooked Longleat Ticket?

Longleat does not give refunds on pre-booked tickets but you can move your tickets to another date later in the year. This costs £5 per person and can only be done three times.

When pre-booking Longleat Tickets you will be offered insurance for £5 (to cover your whole booking) and this would allow you to claim a refund if you were later unable to use the tickets.

We actually did this for a recent trip as one of our party has some medical issues and it did give us peace of mind should we not be able to go for whatever reason.

Here’s the bit you’ve been waiting for! How to save money on Longleat tickets.

Save Money On Longleat Tickets By Investing In An Annual Pass

One of the best ways to save on Longleat tickets is to invest in an annual pass. This cost around £100 for an adult and slightly less for children over the 60s.

If you are able to visit Longleat more than three times over the course of a year, you’ll be saving money. This is perfect for those that live locally or visit the local area often.

Longleat annual passes also entitle you to 20% off VIP experiences and 10% off in shops and food outlets around the site.

Annual pass holders are advised to book tickets in advance during peak times – there is a nominal fee for this of £1 which is donated to charity.

Emergency Services and Military Longleat Discounts

Longleat offers a 30% discount to those in the Military and those working for the emergency services.

This discount can be used for military or emergency services personnel and up to five guests, all arriving at Longleat at the same time. Under 3s are not included in this number.

Military or Emergency Services ID will be required as proof of eligibility on arrival.

NHS and Blue Light Card Longleat Discounts

Longleat also offers discounted tickets for those working for the NHS and anyone who has a Blue Light Card.

The 30% off discount can be used for NHS worker/Blue Light Card holders and up to five guests, all arriving at Longleat at the same time. Under 3s are not included in this number.

Company ID or Blue Light Card is required to be shown on arrival.

Longleat Discounts For Blue Peter Badge Holders

Does your child have Blue Peter Badge and Card? If they do, they are entitled to one free Longleat ticket with a full-paying adult.

The Longleat Blue Peter badge discount cannot be booked in advance, is not valid during the winter season and cannot be combined with any other discount.

As Longleat, themselves advise booking ahead to avoid disappointment I’m not sure I’d want to risk arriving without pre-booked tickets only to be turned away.

Turn Tesco Vouchers Into Cheap Longleat Tickets

The great thing about Tesco Club Vouchers is that when you spend them at Longleat you can get up to three times their value (although this will be changing to two times their value from June 14th 2023).

longleat safari emergency services

Simply create a voucher on the Tesco website and then use it towards the cost of your Longleat tickets. You can pay the difference so there’s no need to have the full amount in vouchers to take advantage of this offer.

Longleat Discounts For Large Groups

If you’re booking Longleat Tickets for a party of twelve people or more then you can get a 20% discount by booking through the link below.

Longleat Group Discount Tickets

Longleat Local Discount Tickets

Did you know that Longleat offer discounts to those living locally within certain postcodes?

Adults can save £15 on the cost of an annual pass and children can save £11.25.

When purchasing your annual passes as a local resident you’ll need both ID and proof of address to claim the discount.

How To Save Money On Longleat Tickets – Final Hints & Tips

Here are some final hints and tips for saving money on Longleat tickets.

Staying at Center Parcs Longleat? You may be able to get discount tickets

If you’re staying Center Parcs Longleat you may be able to get a discount when booking tickets to Longleat. This wasn’t something I was able to confirm – in the past the discount has been around 20% but from what I can see it’s now only £5 on the days you can choose are quite limited.

If you have a Blue Light Card, for example, this would likely provide a much better discount.

Always Check For Special Events

When booking tickets for Longleat you want to check whether there are any special events running and whether these are included in the cost of your ticket or are something you’ll need to pay extra for.

Double Check Opening Times For Your Visit

Opening times at Longleat change throughout the year. The summer months tend to be busier, but there’s also a better chance of the animals being out and about and not hiding away due to inclement weather.

My ideal time to visit Longleat is midweek, during the summer but before the school holidays. We try to make the most of this by using a school inset day for our visits.

Take Your Own Food

There are loads of picnic areas around Longleat so taking your own lunch is definitely a great money-saving option. Not only is food expensive, but you can also end up queuing for a long time which then takes away from time exploring the park.

Are you heading to Longleat soon? I really hope this post helps you save money on Longleat tickets!

Feed giraffes by hand and walk on the wildside with lemurs at this popular safari park, found in the picturesque grounds of historic Longleat House.

First opened in 1966, Longleat Safari Park was the first drive-through attraction of its kind outside Africa, and it's still running strong today. With countless species of animals and attractions like Penguin Island, Stingray Bay, Jungle Cruise and an adventure castle, it's a great day out for the entire family. Explore the animal habitats on a road tour through the park, before stepping onto the Main Square and venturing into koala habitats, outdoor playgrounds and hedge mazes.

Special events run throughout the year, including the ever-popular Festival of Lights over the Christmas period; this large display of illuminated Chinese lanterns adorns the entire parkland and adds a touch of festivity to everything. And, of course, visitors can also extend their stay in the area with a tour through Longleat House and its surrounding pleasure gardens.

Longleat Safari Park is due to re-open on Monday 15 June - make sure to check the website through the link below for availability and opening times.

Longleat Safari Park has extended an offer giving NHS staff a huge discount to enjoy the park. NHS workers will now be able to enjoy 30% off day tickets until the end of March.

The extension of the deal means NHS staff wanting to take their family to the safari park in the spring will be able to save a decent sum. The 30% discount is available for NHS workers and up to five guests.

David Bater, a spokesman at NHS Money saving site NHS Discount Offers , said: "This is fabulous news as Longleat continue to show their support for NHS staff members by extending their 30% offer into spring of 2023. It's proving extremely popular with NHS staff members who can make significant savings on family breaks to this much-loved UK attraction.

"With a drive-through safari to meet the animals or simply a walk through the stunning grounds and gardens it's a lovely way to spend the day with the family and with discounted tickets the experience will feel all the better. Its a really kind gesture from this well-known UK attraction and it's great news NHS staff can continue to save."

Through the deal, an adult day ticket will cost £27.95, instead of the normal price of £39.95. Children aged between three and 15 years old will be able to get in for £20.95 instead of £29.95.

How can NHS staff can get 30% off at Longleat?

NHS staff can claim 30% off tickets to Longleat Safari Park for themselves and five guests. The offer will end on March 31, 2023.

  • Tickets must be pre-booked online in advance
  • The offer is valid for the Emergency Services member plus up to five guests, all arriving together at the Park
  • This offer is only redeemable if purchased by a member of the lifesaving community with a valid NHS ID Card or Blue Light Card. The NHS worker must be present with the party when redeeming tickets.

Visiting Longleat Safari Park this Summer? This post is full of money-saving tips and tricks for when you visit Longleat including how to get cheap Longleat tickets, how to save money on food and more.

Save Money When Visiting Longleat Safari Park

The famous Longleat Safari Park is a popular summer day out here in the west country – we’re actually planning a trip ourselves at some point over the holidays.

While it does make for a fabulous day out and seeing all the animals roaming about is AMAZING, it certainly isn’t cheap.

Tickets to Longleat Safari Park for a family of four come in at well over £100, which feels like a lot when there are so many amazing activities out there for much less, or even for free. For us, visiting Longleat takes over an hour of travel time too, so there is also the cost of petrol to factor in.

longleat safari emergency services

However, the summer holidays are for having fun so we save extra hard to be able to do a few not so cheap things as a special treat. And of course, there are always ways to save a bit of extra cash when visiting Longleat too.

What Is The Best Time To Visit Longleat Safari Park?

In my opinion, the best time to visit Longleat Safari Park is during term time if you can and feel happy taking your children out of school or can fit it around an inset day.

If that doesn’t work then a weekend in the low season would probably be best in terms of how busy the park is. We’ve also been on a weekday during the school holidays which wasn’t too bad.

Our most recent trips have both been on school holiday weekends and I don’t think we would choose that time to go again.

The level of crowds and cars in the Safari meaning long queues meant we enjoyed these trips much less than previous ones.

1. Get Cheap And Discounted Longleat Tickets

Booking your tickets is by far the most expensive part of a trip to Longleat Safari park and looking back on trips from a couple of years ago ticket prices have increased by around £15 per ticket for adults.

However, there are a fair few ways you can get cheap and discounted Longleat Tickets

  • Children Under 2 and carers go free
  • 30% off tickets for Emergency Services workers, military personnel, NHS staff and Blue Light Card holders (ID/Blue Light Card required on arrival)
  • Parties of 12 or more get 20% off
  • Children with a Blue Peter Badge and Card go free with one full paying adult (although there are lots of T&Cs with this one so do double check before arrival)
  • Tesco Clubcard Vouchers can be exchanged for Longleat Tickets
  • Center Parcs Longleat guests can get a small discount on entry prices

If you’d like to find out more, I have a dedicated post which covers all of the above with more details about how and when these discounts can be used.

How To Get Cheap & Discounted Longleat Tickets (9 Ways!)

2. Take A Packed Lunch

Might sound obvious but taking a packed lunch will save you a fortune and means you can save your pennies for treats – we usually get ice creams! If you’re in need of thrifty lunch box inspiration check out this post .

We tend to munch ours while driving around the safari bit so save lugging bags about once inside the main park but will usually take a few drinks and snacks along with us.

3. Double Check Opening And Closing Times

If a day out is costing over £100 you want to ensure you make the most of every minute.

Park opening hours are longer during the summer so plan to arrive early and stay late.

This also means being able to make the most of attractions as queues will be shortest straight after opening and right before closing time.

Also, be aware that even after arriving it can take a while to get to the safari. On our last trip we arrived at the entrance gates bang on 10 am and it took almost 45 minutes to get checked in and drive around to the Safari – and this was on a quietish Saturday in March, not during peak season or school holidays.

4. Make Sure You Get Your Money’s Worth

Okay, this one might be obvious to some but it was something we’d never even thought about until a friend of mine suggested it.

He’d been frequently taking his daughter to Longleat because she was animal mad and confessed on one occasion they never even left the car – just drove around the safari bit over and over again.

While this would mean missing out on everything the main park has to offer a second trip around the safari before leaving is now a must for us.

Especially if a lot of the animals were asleep or hiding due to rain earlier in the day. However, this may not be possible during peak times when everyone is given set times for entering the Safari.

Make sure you check the Safari last entry time before doing this – it’s usually an hour before park closing time.

5. Avoid the Monkeys

While venturing into the monkey enclosure is great fun – be warned – they will damage your car. I know because they chewed up both an ariel and a windscreen wiper of ours that we then had to pay to get fixed.

There are warning signs before you enter and the enclosure is completely avoidable should you wish – just drive right on past!

Longleat isn’t the only fantastic Safari Park in the U.K – Asha from Yeah Lifestyle has a fab review of Knowsley Safari in Prescott  if your visit to to the U.K takes you further north.

Six people hurt after miniature train derails at Longleat Safari Park

longleat safari emergency services

Five people were hurt and one seriously injured when a miniature train carrying 155 people flipped over at a safari park.

A woman was taken to hospital with a possible broken leg after the train derailed at the main square in Longleat Adventure Park, Wiltshire.

Two carriages came off the track and caused the rear carriage to overturn while the others remained on the track.

A spokesman for Longleat said: “Staff immediately instigated the emergency procedure to safely evacuate all passengers from the train and the emergency services were notified.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en">The park will be open today as usual however the train will be out of service whilst an investigation is carried out: <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?mid=9&amp;id=222025&amp;p=http://t.co/DhnQdyjC7i" class="body-link" data-vars-item-name="BL-192941-http://t.co/DhnQdyjC7i" data-vars-event-id="c23">http://t.co/DhnQdyjC7i</a>— Longleat (@Longleat) <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://twitter.com/Longleat/statuses/502375549533442048" class="body-link" data-vars-item-name="BL-192941-https://twitter.com/Longleat/statuses/502375549533442048" data-vars-event-id="c23">August 21, 2014</a>

"Staff are currently undertaking a thorough investigation into what caused the incident and the railway will remain closed during this time."

Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said that a woman was taken to hospital with what was believed to be leg fractures.

The other passengers were described as “walking wounded” and treated at the scene.

Emma Hanks, of Trowbridge, was queuing to ride the train with her daughter when she saw staff running along the platform and panicking.

She said: "Shortly afterwards two fire engines arrived outside of the entrance to the train platform.

"Longleat provided a variety of entertainers including a frog on a unicycle, a princess from frozen, a transformer and postman pat to divert attention from the unfolding emergency. However, no amount of people in funny costumes could distract from the fact that something very serious had happened.

"Outside of Longleat house on the main lawn I saw an ambulance and an air ambulance. There was also a strong police presence around the estate."

A spokesman said: “Now confirmed only one person taken to hospital following the Longleat incident earlier.

“Handful of walking wounded. Firefighters been helping with first aid but train made safe before we got there. Happily no-one trapped."
