Corbett National Park, most famous for being a tiger reserve, needs no introduction to the wildlife lovers. The park boasts of the increasing numbers of tigers in the recent years and also offers the Jungle Safari for the tourists to provide the chance to get a glimpse of this majestic king of the wild forest in its natural habitat. The Safari is the magnificent and the only way to get inside the tiger reserve area and enjoy the mesmerizing view of the amazing landscape and wildlife of this area. The park is divided into the six ecotourism zones and the safari tours are organized in each zone by the zone administration of the forest. Among the six safari zones, Bijrani zone is considered as the best zone after the Dhikala zone to spot the tiger. The picturesque landscape of this zone, which consists of large grass fields known as Chaurs and dense Sal forest, plenty of waterholes and river streams is no less enchanting than the Dhikala zone. The chances of tiger spotting in this zone are almost similar to the Dhikala zone and the tiger sighting is reported often by the safari tourists. Along with the big cats like Bengal tigers and leopards, several types other animals like wild elephants, black bears as well as different types of deer and antelopes namely Chital, Sambar, Hog Deer are found in this zone. Also a perfect place for the birding, there are around 600 species of resident and migratory birds are seen here. Aamdanda gate is the entrance to the Bijrani zone, which is located at the distance of around 1 km from the Ramnagar city. There is a buffer zone of 5 km after entering the gate, which you have to cross to get into the core zone. There is two forest rest houses locate in this zone and are available for tourists to stay here after making a booking for the night stay. One is the Bijrani forest rest house and the other is Malani forest rest house. The day safari is not allowed to stay here for the night, but the day safari can enjoy the elephant ride from here. The elephant safari is only available in the Bijrani and Dhikala zones and is subject to availability as there are limited numbers of elephants used for the safari ride. You have to book the elephant safari on the spot and it is booked on the first come, first serve basis.

Bijrani zone safari

Bijrani tourist zone in corbett national park is the first choice among day tourists. Its entrance is at Aamdanda which is about 1 km. away from Ramnagar. After entering through Aamdanda gate, you cross about 5 km. of buffer zone before reaching Bijrani and jungle safari starts from this point. Bijrani is a beautiful spot and is known for its vast grass lands, deep forest , stormy drains and wild life. To visit this area, permission is granted by the Director, Corbett Tiger Reserve. Maximum 30 vehicles are allowed to travel into Bijrani during morning and same number of vehicles is allowed in the evening hours. For morning safari advance booking is required and for evening safari, permits are given on first come first serve basis. Bijrani has a forest lodge which has six rooms and a dormitory consisting of four beds. You can also take an elephant safari here.

Bijrani Jungle Safari Booking

Birjani Tourist Zone is a very popular area of the spectacular Corbett Tiger Reserve. This zone is enriched with a huge number of floral and faunal species. Birjani gives a tough competition to Dhikala zone while the tourist’s preferences are concerned. The zone is known for its wonderful landscape and is very calm and quite place. The beauty of this place is appreciated by all the visitors. This is one of the most tiger rich areas of the park.Birjani consists of a mixed topography with dense Sal forests combined with grasslands. The entry to this zone is through Aamdanda Gate.

Bijrani safari zone is highly endowed with rich diversity of flora and fauna. Bijrani zone, situated at a suitable distance from Ramnagar is the most preferred zone for Wildlife enthusiasts visiting the park for day visit. It gives its visitors a wonderful experience of the beautiful forests.

About Bijrani

Bijrani Range is located close to Amdanda Gate anear Ramnagar. Visitors can have higher probablity of tiger sighting during Bijrani Safari. Wildlife, grasslands and dense, deep forest with stormy drains are major attraction of Bijrani wildlife zone.

Known for the diverse wildlife and amazing vegetation, Bijrani Zone is one of highest wildlife populated range of Corbett National Park .

Bijrani in Corbett National Park

A favourite spot for shooting in British era, Bijrani range is still a hot spot for wildlife lovers. Bijrani Range has core, buffer and tourism zone. Tourists are allowed to visit only tourism zone which atarts after 5 km from Amdanda Gate. Forest Rest House FRH Bijrani is available for night stay at Bijrani Range. Visitors can take jeep and elephant safari at Bijrani. It is recommended to pre-book Safari at Ramnagar office. Bijrani Zone is open for visitors from 15 October to 15 June. Only two safari are operated during a day in Bijrani zone.

Jeep Safari At Bijrani Zone

Bijrani safari zone of Jim Corbett national park is a famous tourist spot of Corbett National Park. Bijrani safari is known for having a good number of resorts at Corbett National Park. It has a rich population of tigers and offers the most beautiful view of its visitor. 

Jungle Safari can be experienced in the morning or in the evening, but only out of core areas. A limited number of vehicles are allowed on a particular path so that the habitat of wildlife can never get disturbed.

Accommodation at Bijrani Zone

Bijrani zone has the most of the tiger population. There are  two Forest Rest House to stay inside this zone where the most of tiger  sightings happen. There is no electricity so the power sockets are not working  but Light and Fans work properly in the night for limited hours, running hot  water is also available, food is average and served at KMVN canteen. The two  Forest Rest House here are named as Bijrani (FRH) and Malani (FRH).

Bijrani (FRH)

Bijrani FRH is built in 1930’s  which is situated at he edge of the core zone of the Jim Corbett National Park.  This small FRH named after the Malani sot (stream) offers one of the most  picturesque surroundings and a quiet ambience. It has a KMVN canteen and Aamdanda  gate is the entry point for this forest rest house. This is one of the best site  for a peaceful stay and enjoying bird watching. There are 3 types of  accommodations available which are Single bed, Double bed and Four bed. In Bijrani  Frh 2 rooms has single bed, 4 rooms has double beds and 1 room has four beds. 

Malani (FRH)

Malani forest rest house is built in 1930 at the edge core of  the Jim Corbett National Park. It has a KMVN canteen and Aamdanda gate is the  entry point for this forest rest house. This small FRH named after the Malani  sot (stream) offers one of the most picturesque surroundings and a quiet ambience. This forest rest house has 2 rooms of double bed.

Opening and Closing

The Bijrani day Safari zone of Corbett Tiger Reserve remains open for  tourists from 15th October to till June. Night stay in Bijrani Ecotourism Zones  is allowed from 15th October till June 2022. And Bijrani Zone remains  closed for night halts and Day Visit from 1st July 2021 to 14th October 2021.

Bijrani Zone Forest Lodge

Entry is from Amdanda gate situated very close to Ramnagar town – 30 Jeeps are permitted every morning & evening and can be booked well in advance – this was a famous shooting block during the British Raj days and has across section of Jungle roads best suited for Jungle Jeep Safaris. This area has a healthy Tiger and wildife population and thus the chances of sighting are immense. Located on the eastern end of Corbett, Bijrani contains a wide variety of flora & fauna which includes Sal forests on the upper reaches and tropical moist, deciduous mixed forest in the valley and plain areas. The availability of water from perennial sources and also from man made water holes and the location of the extremely wide grasslands provide a strong prey base for the big cats and grazing for the herbivores.

ACCOMMODATION INSIDE BIJRANI ZONE

With in Bijrani Zone, Forest rest houses are located in Bijrani and Malani. The rest house at Bijrani has six rooms (Four with double beds and two with single bed) and dormitory consisting of four beds. The compound has its own restaurant and canteen. Elephant rides into the jungle are available from here. The region is frequented by wild animals and birds unperturbed by the human interventions. The chances of spotting a tiger, Sloth bear and herd of elephants are quite high in this part of the park. The rest house in Malani has two rooms (Double bed) and is very popular among bird watchers and tourist seeking a peaceful place. The picturesque beauty of Birjani is magnificent. It is endowed with wide grass lands, thick forests and huge water drains and inspiring count of flora and fauna.

BIJRANI(FRH) Malani Forest Rest House was built in 1930’s and is located at the edge of the core zone of the Corbett National Park approximately12km northwest of Bijrani. From Bijrani driving through the Machaan chaur, visitors take the old forest track to Mailani and enjoy the sight of deer grazing in the grassland, a Tusker peeling the bark of trees or an occasional encounter witha bear or Leopard. This small FRH named after the Malani sot (stream) offers one of the most picturesque surroundings and a quiet ambience. This is one of the best site for a peaceful stay and enjoying bird watching.

Timing period

Chaurs (grass lands).

The chaurs ( Grass land) near Bijrani namely Machaan Chaur, Badhai Chaur, Ringora Chaur etc. adds to the attraction of forests.

The forest area of Birjani is purely serene and perfect for the tranquil atmosphere. It is seen that the forest vegetation is mainly Sal along with wide grasslands known as Chaur. The topography at Birjani is a bit drier and has diverse character. Several types of deers and antilopes namely Chital (Axis axis), Hog Deer or Para (Axis pornicus), Sambar (Cervus Unicolor), Kakkar (Muntiacus Muntjak) etc are seen here.

A great place to spot tigers and wild elephants, this is also a preferred destination of Birdwatchers.

The chances of spotting sloth bear are high in these forests. They are attracted by both termites and the sweet nectar of Mahua flowers. The bears have been recorded in intoxicated state when the Mahua ferments in their digestive system.

Reptiles seen in this region are the Indian Python, Cobra, Krait and the fearsome King Cobra and different species of Lizards.

How to Reach Bijrani

The entry gate to Bijrani zone is Aamdanda gate, which is about 2 km. away from Ramnagar. After entering through Aamdanda gate, you cross about 5 km. of buffer zone before reaching the core area of Bijrani ecotourism zone.

Welcome to Dhikala Zone of Jim Corbett National Park. Today we will tell you about the most beautiful zone of Corbett. Dhikala is the largest and most beautiful tourist area of the Corbett Tiger Reserve with large grasslands, river banks, sal and mixed forests. You can enter Dhikala Forest Rest House Range from Dhangarhi Gate and timings are from 10 AM to 4 PM. Managed by the Forest Division functioning under the organization of Jim Corbett National Park, Dhikala Forest Area is the heart of Corbett National Park.

Dhikala Sunder forest area is about 30 km from Dhangarhi gate and Ramnagar which is called as the gate of Jim Corbett is about 18 km from Dhangari gate. And if you have a fast driver then it takes around 20-25 minutes to cover this distance. The journey from Dhangarhi Gate to Dhikala forest area is very adventurous and you have to pass through dense Sal forest and Ramganga river with many cyclic rivers. It takes 2 hours to reach Dhikala Zone from Dhangri Gate. Along the way, you will find many wild animals like Royal Bengal Tiger, Herd of Deer, Sambar Deer, Barking Deer, Indian Hog Deer, Monitor Lizard, Asian Elephant, Jackal, Fishes and Crocodiles, as Dhikala Forest Area Center is the place for wildlife lovers. Perfect for.

Dhikala Zone is the most famous area of Jim Corbett, where tigers are most likely to be sighted. That’s why tourists here do not know how to get permits easily. Permits sell out very quickly here. Due to its excellent location in the central area of Jim Corbett National Park, this place is always crowded and there is a constant flow of tourists to this lodge. Wildlife enthusiasts love to come and stay here. Since there are a limited number of rooms, it is advisable to book the lodge well in advance to avoid any inconvenience.

Reaching Dhikala Zone: First of all you have to come to Ramnagar which is called as Jim Corbett Gate from here Dhangari Gate is 18 Kms further you can reach Dhikala from Dhangarhi Gate which is hardly 30 Kms away from this wonderful forest area. Dhikala forest area is 275 km away from New Delhi and one can cover this distance by road and train. Overall, an amazing place that you will visit again and again and will always cherish the moments spent here.

It's important to note that we have no influence over the safari zone, safari driver, or the naturalist guide, as these decisions are solely made by the forest officials. For those looking to make an advance booking, please provide the following details:

• Preferred travel date and safari timing (Morning/Afternoon).
• Specific ID card number (Voter ID, Aadhaar No., Driving License No., etc.).
• Safari entry fee must be paid in advance, and both Jeep Safari and Canter Safari amounts are non-refundable.
• Carry the same ID card submitted during the online booking.
• For Indian nationals, please inform us 45 days in advance. Foreign nationals can request bookings up to 90 days in advance.
• Passport details are mandatory for making reservations for foreign tourists.
• Safari permits are issued on a first-come, first-serve basis, subject to availability.

Transferability and Guides:

• Entry permits are non-transferable.

• Entry to the National Park is strictly prohibited after sunset.
• Day visits to Dhikala Tourism Zone are restricted, except for tourists staying within forest lodges.
• Passengers are not permitted to disembark from the vehicle during jeep safaris.

Additional Rules:

• Pets are not allowed within the Corbett Tiger Reserve.
• All visitors are required to comply with the rules and regulations of the Wildlife Protection Act.

Bijrani Tourist Area is a very popular area in the remarkable Corbett Tiger Reserve. This area is enriched with a huge number of plant and animal species. Bijrani gives serious competition to the Dhikala area in terms of tourists’ preferences. The area is known for its beautiful scenery and is a very peaceful and quiet place. The beauty of this place is appreciated by all visitors. This is one of the most tiger-rich areas of the park. Bijrani consists of a mixed topography with dense sal forests interspersed with grasslands. Entry to this area is through the Aamdanda Gate.

Among the six safari zones, the Bijrani zone is considered to be the best zone after Dikala zone for tiger sightings. The picturesque landscape of this zone, which consists of large grasslands known as chauris and dense sal forests, numerous water bodies, and river streams, is no less charming than that of the Dhikala zone. The chances of tiger sightings in this zone are almost the same as in the Dhikala zone and safari tourists often report tiger sightings. Along with the big cats like Bengal tigers and leopards, other species of animals such as wild elephants, and black bears as well as various species of deer and antelopes namely chital, sambar, and pine deer are also found in this area. It is also an ideal place for birdwatching – around 600 species of native and migratory birds are found here.

More Details About Bijrani Safari Zone

Bijrani zone is about 5 km from Ramnagar, after traveling a kilometer from the gate, tourists enter the buffer zone. The Bijrani Zone offers one of the best safari experiences in Corbett National Park as you can witness a scenic stretch that features large grassy fields of Chaurs and dense Sal forest as well as river streams. Chances of spotting a tiger in this area are slim, but not only tigers, but also various species of animals such as sambar deer, boar, chital, elephant and black bear.

Bijrani is a beautiful place known for its vast grasslands, deep forests, meandering canals and wild life. A permit from the Director of Corbett Tiger Reserve is required to visit this area. A maximum of 30 vehicles can travel in Bijrani in the morning and the same number of vehicles in the evening. Advance booking is required for the morning and evening safaris. Bijrani has a forest lodge that has six rooms and a bedroom with four beds. You can also go on an elephant safari here.

To reach the Bijrani Zone in Jim Corbett National Park, you’ll need to first reach the town of Ramnagar, which serves as a gateway to the park. Bijrani is one of the entry gates to the park and is located nearby. Here’s how to reach Bijrani Zone from various major cities and transportation hubs:

1. From Delhi:

• By Train: The most convenient way to reach Ramnagar from Delhi is by train. You can catch a train from Delhi to Ramnagar Railway Station (RMR), which is the nearest railway station to Jim Corbett. Trains like Ranikhet Express and Corbett Link Express connect Delhi to Ramnagar.
• By Road: You can also drive from Delhi to Ramnagar, which is approximately 260 kilometers away. The journey by road takes around 6-7 hours. You can take NH9 (Delhi-Hapur Road) and continue on NH309 (Moradabad-Bazpur-Kaladhungi Road) to reach Ramnagar.

2. From Dehradun/Haridwar:

• By Road: If you are coming from Dehradun or Haridwar, you can drive to Ramnagar. The distance from Dehradun to Ramnagar is approximately 225 kilometers, and from Haridwar, it’s around 165 kilometers. Both routes involve scenic drives through the hills.

3. From Nainital:

• By Road: If you are visiting Nainital and wish to go to Bijrani Zone, you can drive to Ramnagar, which is about 70 kilometers away. The journey offers picturesque views of the hills and forests.

5. From Pantnagar Airport:

• By Road: If you are arriving by air, the nearest airport is Pantnagar Airport (PGH), which is about 85 kilometers from Ramnagar. You can hire a taxi from the airport to reach Ramnagar and then proceed to Bijrani.

Bijrani Zone is the first choice among day tourists. Its entrance is at Aamdanda which is about 1 km. away from Ramnagar. After entering through Aamdanda gate, you cross about 5 km. of the buffer zone before reaching Bijrani and jungle safari starts from this point. To visit this area, permission is granted by the Director, Corbett Tiger Reserve. Maximum 30 vehicles are allowed to travel into Bijrani during morning and same number of vehicles is allowed in the evening hours. For morning safari advance booking is required and for the evening safari, permits are given on first come first serve basis. Bijrani has a forest lodge which has six rooms and a dormitory consisting of four beds. You can also take an elephant safari here.

Sitabani Jim Corbett National Park:-

Sitabani zone in Jim Corbett is also known as the landscape of Jim Corbett and is best suitable for nature walk and its popular tourist spots around. Even though it is a forest area, Sitabani doesn’t come under the Corbett Tiger Reserve and therefore the rules and regulations of CTR are not applicable to this exotic zone. This zone has a strong connection with famous Hindu epic, Ramayana. As per the Ramayana, Goddess Sita, wife of Lord Rama, spent some of her exile days in the Sitabani jungle. Sitabani zone of Jim Corbett National Park is the only area best suited for bird watching and you can find several species of beautiful birds in here.

Sitabani zone has an ancient temple dedicated to lord Shiva and is managed by the ASI (Archaeological Survey of India). This is the tourism zone of the Corbett open all through the year for safaris and there is no such limit for entering Jeeps to this area. The CTR Authority doesn’t give any permit to enter to this zone; rather you will need permission from Sitabani Forest Department for Jeep Safari in this region. There are several frivolous brooks flowing through the Sitabani Safari Zone. Tourists in this zone can also do fishing which would be a great idea to enjoy tour around this zone. There are plenty of birds around and one can enjoy sighting vultures in the area.
