Here’s another tip for you: although your ticket may say “Day Pass,” there’s no re-entry. Once you’re in, you’re in; you can’t pop out and return with friends. To re-enter, you’ll need a new ticket and to queue again. So ensure you’ve got everything and everyone before stepping into TeamLab Planets.

There’s no food for sale inside, and you can’t bring any in either. Not even snacks. Considering you’ll likely spend over three to four hours here and re-entry isn’t allowed, make sure you’re well-fed before you arrive.

You can only drink from capped bottles and only in designated rest areas. There are vending machines there if you’re thirsty. However, consuming drinks inside the exhibition areas is prohibited.

・Resale of tickets is prohibited, and visitors cannot enter with a ticket purchased through resale. The museum will not be held responsible in such cases.

・Please arrive at the venue and line up in the entrance line in time within the time stated on the ticket.

・The time stated on the ticket is not the staying time in the venue.

・If you must leave the queue please make sure that someone in your party stays behind.

If you came alone and must leave the queue please notify a nearby member of our staff.

・Leave your stroller in the place provided before entering.

・Children under 13 years of age cannot be admitted without a parent or guardian over 18 years old. Please ensure that children enter together with their parent/guardian.

・Please note that although the premises are wheelchair accessible,

You’ll be asked to switch from your wheelchair to one of our wheelchairs, once inside (Number of wheelchairs is limited). Please notice that our wheelchairs are standard products without any special accessory.

・Entry with a cane or prosthetic is possible. Depending on your situation, there may be some artworks that you won’t be able to view. Before entering, our staff will explain the viewing route and usage rules according to your situation.

・Re-entry is not permitted. Please note that your ticket cannot be refunded once you have entered.

About the site

・The museum is experienced barefoot. Please remove all shoes, sandals and other footwear before entering.

・There is water in certain areas. Water levels can rise to knee height even for adults. ・In artworks that use water, sodium hypochlorite is used, and chlorine levels are adjusted to meet appropriate standards.

・We recommend that small children wear clothes that they don't mind getting wet, or to bring a change of clothes for them.

・If your clothing gets wet, our staff will ask you to change. For safety reasons, we cannot allow entry into the next artwork with wet clothes. If you do not have a change of clothes, we have towels available to rent. Please wipe off your wet clothes before entering the next artwork.

* Please note that the water area is not for swimming purposes.

・There are areas with mirrored floors.

 Please note that your underwear may reflect onto the mirrored surface if you are wearing a skirt or wide-hemmed pants.

・Shorts may be rented for free. Please inform the staff in the museum if you require a pair and return the shorts on your way out. Sizes run from XS to 6L.

・The site features an area with strong stimulating lights, and a dark area.

・For visitors with children, please make sure not to let go of their hand as doing so could be dangerous.

・There are detour routes for visitors, including those with disabilities and those with children, that would like to skip certain artworks. If you wish to do so, please inform the staff nearby.

・Visitors with infants may enter with a (front) baby carrier.

・There are diaper tables available at the bathrooms in the museum. If you would like to breastfeed or rest, there is a first aid room in the museum. Please feel free to inform the staff if you wish to use it.

・During rush hours, customers who have been in the same room for a long time may be asked to move forward by staff.

About baggage

・There are dark areas between artworks, unstable flooring, and artworks that involve walking through water in this venue. For safety and hygiene reasons, bringing personal belongings into the artwork spaces is prohibited. If you need to carry necessary items with you for any reason, please consult with our staff.

・Free lockers are provided.

After you pass the entrance gate, you can put your baggage in the locker.

There are two types of locker sizes available.

25cm wide x 40cm deep x 50cm high

25cm wide x 40cm deep x 75cm high

・ We cannot supervise baggage larger than the above size, because we do not have a cloakroom.

・Please understand beforehand that suitcases with sizes exceeding the above size will be managed with a wire lock in the stroller storage area.

About "Moss Garden of Resonating Microcosms - Solidified Light Color, Sunrise and Sunset" ・In the event of light rain, the artwork will remain open to the public. In the event of typhoon-level winds or heavy rain, the artwork will not be viewable.

The international art collective teamLab opened teamLab Planets TOKYO DMM in Toyosu, Tokyo, in July 2018. Visitors explore the space barefoot, for an immersive experience. Since opening, the museum has welcomed many, including local and global celebrities, making it one of the city's hottest art spots.

Enjoying the compositions at teamLab Planets is an opportunity to have fun and engage the senses. Visitors explore the installations barefoot for a truly immersive experience.

In the “Garden Area”, you can immerse yourself in the world of over 13,000 live orchids in the artwork “Floating Flower Garden”: Flowers and I are of the Same Root, the Garden and I are One”. The orchids react when people get close, floating up and creating space around you for an otherworldly experience that will captivate you.

The “Water Area” offers multiple artwork spaces where you can walk barefoot and interact with the works. Walk among digital Koi fish, influence artwork spaces with your smartphone, or simply by touching.

The area outside the museum is the “Public Area”.

It contains a huge work of art called "Universe of Fire Particles Falling from the Sky” The digitally created monolith-like installation, which resembles a pillar of fire, is available to experience with or without admission.

If you launch the Distributed Fire smartphone application and approach this fire, the flame will ignite and you can take the artwork home with you as a souvenir. It is, even shareable with other smartphones.

Take your favorite photos

Take as many photos as you want, and share your experiences with others on Instagram. Visitors are asked not to use flash photography inside the museum, as it will destroy the appearance of the artworks, which use light, and diminish the experience for others.

Vegan Ramen in the art space

You can eat ramen noodles in the “Reversible Rotation-Non-Objective Space” installation. The ramen noodles are a collaboration between teamLab PLANETS and “Vegan Ramen UZU” from Kyoto, a restaurant listed in one of Europe's most famous food guidebooks. The Tokyo limited Flower Vegan Ramen is topped with various edible flowers. Enjoy a cold, refreshing, ramen.

Art, food, and shopping, a heavenly view of Tokyo Bay make for a day you will never forget

After experiencing teamLab Planets, we recommend a visit to Toyosu market (moved from Tsukiji) and the Urban dock LaLaport TOYOSU shopping center, where you can enjoy one of the many restaurants and shop to your heart's content. Walk on one of the beautiful sidewalks around the Toyosu area, enjoy nature at Toyosu Gururi Park, or relax by the seaside to enjoy a fantastic view of the Rainbow Bridge and many other famous landmarks. The museum is only a 10-minute car ride from Ginza, one of Tokyo's most popular areas for gourmets and shopping lovers.

10 Ways to Make Your teamLab Borderless Trip Perfect!

Ever since it opened, digital art museum teamLab Borderless has been popular with visitors from literally everywhere. It’s a massive installation, spanning 10,000 square meters, and divided into five worlds with about 60 exhibits among them. On top of that, there’s no map or set path to guide you, so your first visit will be filled with mystery! As a popular spot, you might be thinking about checking it out, but unsure how to enjoy it. Rest assured! We’ve come up with ten things you need to know so you can have a blast even if it’s your first time!

What is teamLab Borderless?

teamLab Borderless is a novel digital art museum set up by art group “teamLab.” It opened in Odaiba’s Palette Town in June, 2018.

When you step into the museum, you step into a borderless world. The borders between exhibits are ambiguous, giving rise to new forms of expression. Sometimes the art pieces influence each other, creating new works, and other times, you as the viewer become a part of the art, creating yet another novel exhibit. The museum has no map or set path, and you can always take pictures with the exhibit, making it a space with a completely new way of enjoying and engaging with art.

The museum’s unique, beautiful vistas have been captured in countless photos uploaded to the internet by visitors. It sees a constantly high turnout of guests, including celebrities and famous artists from abroad, showing its worldwide appeal.

1. Reserve your tickets!

teamLab Borderless is a popular spot, seeing high turnout day after day. While you can buy tickets at the door, they go quickly, and if the presale tickets sell out, they won’t even be on sale. If you want to guarantee your entry, make sure you buy your tickets beforehand.

2: Use a locker to travel light!

The museum is large and dark, so you’ll want to travel as light as you can. Store your bags in a locker at the entrance. There are plenty to choose from, so there’s little worry they’ll all be taken.

Lockers cost 100 yen to use, but your money is returned upon opening it, making them essentially free. Ticket prices don’t cover any purchases made in the museum’s café, so make sure you have some 100 yen coins on hand.

There’s also a place to secure strollers and suitcases with combination locks. Travelers on long trips and visitors with children can enjoy the museum without worry, too!

3: What should you wear and bring?

Most of the fun of teamLab Borderless is wandering around the museum, so wearing something easy to move around in is key. Try wearing some comfortable pants with sneakers, or another type of comfortable shoes.

High heels will wear you out, and you won’t be able to enter “teamLab Athletics Forest” in them.

If you do attend in heels, however, there are free rental shoes at the entrance to the Athletics Forest, so feel free to use those.

A more advanced technique for enjoying the museum is wearing white clothes!

Your white clothes will act as a blank canvas for the art to be projected onto, deepening your immersion.

In exhibits with plenty of white light like this, a vividly colorful green or pink will look wonderful too. Go with the image you like the most when picking your outfit.

One of the biggest appeals of teamLab Borderless is taking great pictures, which means you’ll want your camera or smartphone. You can take pictures and videos in the museum, but you can’t use a flash, other kinds of illumination, selfie sticks, or tripods. Take care to charge your gear beforehand – you don’t want to run out of juice halfway through your adventure.

4: Don’t worry: The language support is also borderless!

About 40% of visitors here come from outside Japan. Precautions are written in Japanese, English, Korean, and Chinese. When you step into the museum, you step into a borderless world with no need for words. Leave all borders behind and enjoy yourself to the fullest.

5: You’ll want to remember these: Popular photo and experience spots!

teamLab Borderless is divided into five large spaces: “Borderless World,” “Athletics Forest,” “Future Park,” “Forest of Resonating Lamps,” and “EN TEA HOUSE.” They’re all filled with unimaginably fun exhibits, but we’ll introduce the most popular photo and fun spots.

“Universe of Water Particles on a Rock where People Gather”

This is an exhibit that lets you really feel that you’re part of the art as the water changes its flow around you. Flowers from the forest bloom here as well, making this the perfect spot for taking sensational, dynamic photos.

“Forest of Resonating Lamps”

You can imagine that plenty of people would want to step into this room after seeing pictures of it on social media.

In this fascinating room, you won’t be able to see the difference between the floor or the walls. Watch your step so you don’t bump into any of the many lamps!

“Athletics Forest”

The Athletics Forest is particularly popular with children. Climb, jump, and use your body to become one with the art! Even adults can go back to their childhood for a little and let loose.

There are plenty of vertical exhibits such as bouldering walls and trampolines, perfect for taking pictures and videos of aerial motion.

6: Some tips for taking great photos!

Photography is allowed in all of teamLab Borderless’s exhibits. Each work changes with time and viewer presence, so you’ll never snap the same picture twice. And as amazing as that is, there are a few tricks you can employ to take even better pictures.

Make use of the exhibit’s movements to get light on the people in the picture. For example, when the white wave passes over the subject’s face, it makes for a great picture. It’s even better with white clothes!

If you stand so that light gets on your face, it will look like you’re wearing face-paint in your photo.

You can also use the light as a screen to take a cool silhouette photo. It’s even better if you strike a big pose when you do it!

If you point your camera up from directly below, you can take an artistic shot of light beams floating beautifully.

In exhibits where the light moves quickly, you can capture moments unnoticeable by the naked eye with a video or sequence photos.

Try to get an angle from below with the camera as close to the floor as you can get.

To ensure you don’t end up in the photo, try taking it diagonally.

7: Watch your pictures swim in the Sketch Aquarium! It’s popular with kids!

Everyone can enjoy teamLab Borderless , no matter how old or young. The Sketch Aquarium, however, is particularly popular with children. After scanning a picture you’ve drawn, it swims through the aquarium right before your eyes. Fish the other guests draw will swim along too, changing the scenery every second. The fish also react realistically, running off when you touch them or coming to eat when you touch the feed bag.

You can go in with an idea of what you’d like to draw, or you can come up with something on the spot when you see the aquarium. Either way is fine!

8: Worried about the museum being dark or getting lost? Here are things to look out for!

teamLab Borderless has no pamphlets explaining the exhibits, nor does it have a set path or map. This is because the whole point of the museum is to get lost inside and enjoy the experience! The museum is dimly lit, with stairs and some pitch-black sections, so you’ll want to watch your step as you go.

It’s very difficult to get back together if people in your group get lost, so you’ll want to go with as few people as you can and stick closely together. Still, you might end up losing sight of everything when absorbed in a piece of art, or you might lose your companions when focusing on taking photos, so you may want to decide beforehand on a place to meet up at if the group falls apart.

A good place to meet would be the wide open “Universe of Water Particles on a Rock where People Gather”, right through the first exhibit, “Forest of Flowers and People: Lost, Immersed and Reborn”.

This area is relatively well lit and easy to meet up in.

9: Have even more fun with the app! Download it beforehand!

There’s an exhibit that reacts to a paired app you can download. We recommend you pick up the “teamLab Exhibition App” on your iOS or Android smartphone before visiting the museum.

You can use this app with the exhibit, “Wander through the Crystal World.”

Turn on Bluetooth and Location Services, then select “Wander through the Crystal World” on the app. When it starts, it will present you with some symbols. Pick the one you like and slide it up top to see the room change its color, sound, and movement of light. Try it out—you never know what kind of moments you’ll witness!

The room looks like it stretches out into infinity. Do be careful not to get so drawn in that you touch or try to go into the light screen.

10: The exhibits have no borders; they are a constant stream of originality! Enjoy making your own discoveries!

The exhibits in teamLab Borderless change based on the people inside, the time, and the season. Everything you see is something you cannot see again. Whenever you visit the museum, you’ll always see something new.

You can look around to make your own art, chase exhibits that pass between rooms, wander about looking to run into new works... The ways to enjoy the museum are endless. It’s best to relinquish yourself to your desired sensations, going after what you want to see, touch, and feel.

Visiting teamLab Borderless: What to Expect

On my most recent trip to Japan, a friend and I were finally able to visit teamLab Borderless in Tokyo. This is a stunning virtual art exhibition you’ve likely seen on Instagram more than once due to its popularity. 

There is something for all ages at teamLab Borderless. If you spend enough time there, you can get amazing photos. Or, if you want to forego the stunning Instagram shots, you can live in the moment and experience a magical immersive experience. 

Although I had already seen a ton of pictures of the exhibits online, I nevertheless still found myself in utter awe at times or surprised by an exhibit I didn’t know about. Here’s some of the highlights of my visit and tips to help you get the most out of your trip to teamLab Borderless.

These are some of the notable exhibits and areas:

Flutter of Butterflies Beyond Borders, Floating Nest – Lie down or sit down on a giant net in the dark while images fly all over the walls and music plays. It felt like an electronic version of stargazing! 

Wander through the Crystal World – This exhibit took my breath away. Long strands of LED lights hang from the ceiling, making the exhibit feel like walking into a gorgeous crystal chandelier. You’re walking inside a light show while majestic music plays. People can manipulate the light show is by choosing different settings on an electronic screen next to the exhibit. Tip: the floor is a mirror, so dress accordingly since a short skirt would show your underwear in the reflection.

Athletics Forest – Next to a kids’ area, the athletics forest allows you or often kids to play around in the exhibits. Be sure to check out the Aerial Climbing through a Flock of Colored Birds or the Weightless Forest of Resonating Life. Tip: if you and/or your kids plan on doing more than just looking at the athletics area, wear tennis shoes. The athletics forest is no place for high heels or flip flops!

Future Park – Next to the Athletics Forest, Future Park is a series of exhibits geared towards children. It includes areas for coloring, a fun virtual fruit slicing game, and many more fun and interactive exhibits. I’m not sure if it technically fell in future park or another zone, but one of my favorite exhibits resembled giant glowing balloons.

Universe of water particles on a rock where people gather – This big room is another place you see a lot on Instagram. Graphics on the wall keep changing, and optically it looks like water is flowing onto a “rock” against the wall where people sit or stand and pose for pictures.

The Forest of Resonating Lamps – This was the exhibit I was most anxious to see. It’s so popular that you have to wait in a really long line–I think we waited over an hour. Small groups are allowed in the exhibit for two minutes and then need to exit the room, so bring your camera A-game.

En Tea House 

If you want a break from exploring, have some fresh tea and green tea ice cream at the teamLab Borderless tea house to see amazing optical illusions that are tied to your drink and ice cream. This experience is not included in the cost of admission: for a drink and ice cream it’s approximately 1200 yen, including tax. The cost it is really worth it as an excuse to relax and for a relaxing unique experience. You can learn more here .

I recommend carving out a good portion of your day if you want to get the most out of your visit. We went early, but we weren’t in line before teamLab Borderless opened, so we had to wait in line outside for at least 45 minutes. 

Be aware, teamLab Borderless does feel crowded at times and there are a lot of people roaming around. But it’s to be expected since it’s a hot attraction.

Despite the fact that they control how fast people go into the exhibit and only sell a limited amount of tickets, you can explore the exhibits for as long as you want. My friend and I walked around and took pictures at a leisurely pace. You can wander all over, since there isn’t a set order to the exhibits, and you will probably find yourself backtracking a lot to make sure you haven’t missed any exhibits.

The facility is huge–10,000 square meters, and has art that forms “one borderless world.” In the words of teamLab Borderless: 

People lose themselves in the artwork world. The borderless works transform according to the presence of people, and as we immerse and meld ourselves into this unified world, we explore a continuity among people, as well as a new relationship that transcends the boundaries between people and the world. teamLab Borderless Website

I was staying in Akihabara, Tokyo, and took two trains to reach Aomi Station in Odaiba, Tokyo, which is also called Palette Town. It took about an hour by train from Akihabara. Thankfully, teamLab Borderless is a close walk from the train station.

Aside from its Japan locations, teamLab has locations in Shanghai and Singapore, and upcoming temporary exhibits elsewhere, so don’t despair if you’re not getting to Japan yet. 

Tickets are 3200 Yen for adults, 1000 Yen for children, and 1600 Yen for Disabled Persons (a person who has a disability certificate and one accompanying person). Tickets can sell out, so I recommend buying online before your visit. As mentioned earlier, you can also pay extra to experience En Tea House.

Nearby Things to Do

After you’re done with teamLab Borderless, there are other nearby attractions. There’s a giant ferris wheel, Megaweb Toyota City Showcase, and more. JNTO has a good summary of some of the nearby attractions and hotels.

Eri and I went to Venus For t , a nearby shopping center modeled after 17th-Century Europe. Although it is compared to Caesar’s Palace in Vegas, it actually reminded me of the Venetian Hotel in Vegas. The stores encompass things like home decor, fashion, and gifts, and there are restaurants.  We ate lunch together, where I tried beef tongue and torero for the first time. Later we got sugary drinks for a refreshing dessert. 

Overall, teamLab Borderless was as stunning and magical as Instagrammers make it look. All the electronic art and exhibits were amazing to experience, and I definitely recommend people to visit if they want to experience a new world for a few hours. 

Recap of Tips:

I’ve read of some people having good luck going early so that they can skip the line for the Forest of Resonating Lamps and get better photos.

Be careful of wearing skirts since a couple exhibits have mirrors on the floor.

Buy tickets in advance online.

Plan accordingly for the exhibit you’re only allowed to spend two minutes in.

Set enough time aside to really explore and appreciate the exhibits.

Day Trip to Tokorozawa: Visit teamLab Acorn Forest and Sakura Town

Interested in a day of art, anime and pop culture, away from it all? Then this easy day trip from Tokyo to Tokorozawa in Saitama Prefecture is for you. Read our guide to visiting digital art collective teamLab’s Acorn Forest exhibition, plus the contemporary cultural hub of Sakura Town next door.

Despite once being known as Dasaitama ( dasai meaning uncool in Japanese), Tokyo’s neighbor Saitama has always had a lot to offer visitors in the way of nature, with the mountainous Chichibu area at the top of the to-see list. But in recent years, the prefecture has been making strong efforts to attract day-trippers with interests other than hiking , including art and pop culture experiences (like a Moomin theme park ). Enter the teamLab Acorn Forest exhibition and the Sakura Town complex in Tokorozawa City.

Just under an hour from central Tokyo, these new installations make for a great day out—particularly for families with kids. The teamLab Acorn Forest opened at the beginning of August, 2020, while Sakura Town had its “pre-opening” around the same time. Its grand official opening took place on November 6, 2020, having been pushed back due to the COVID-19 situation.

Explore the teamLab Acorn Forest in Tokorozawa

The newest exhibit from world-famous digital art collective teamLab, the Acorn Forest—officially known by the title Resonating Life in the Acorn Forest—is a permanent feature in Higashi Tokorozawa Park. Much smaller than the indoor teamLab Planets and teamLab Borderless exhibits in Tokyo, the Acorn Forest is entirely outdoors, nestled among trees on a hillside. This corner of the park is known as the Musashino Woods.

Like all teamLab artworks, the Acorn Forest is an interactive experience: you meander along paths dotted with shiny silver sculptures called ovoids (these “acorns” come up to about the hip on an adult), and you are encouraged to knock them (gently). Doing so emits a sound that sets off the other ovoids, resonating through the little forested area. This blends harmoniously with the tinkly wind-chimes-and-Zen background music that is characteristic of teamLab exhibits.

When I visited, I was the only human in the forest, so the sound was rather lonely, but if you go in a group, presumably you can get a kind of cool choral effect going. I did hear a bunch of birds when I visited, though, including the azure-winged magpie. That was a bonus.

At night, the ovoids and trees are lit up, adding an extra dimension to the experience.

There is a tiny cafe that overlooks the exhibit, but it wasn’t open when I went. You can also get refreshments at Sakura Town, or at one of the cafes or restaurants along the road that runs from the station.

When to visit the teamLab forest

Although the Acorn Forest is cheaper to visit during the day, we recommend waiting until dusk to go in . As darkness falls, the silver ovoids and trees light up in all different colors, creating a far richer visual experience.

Your best bet is actually to head to Sakura Town first, and then pop into the Acorn Forest on the way back to the station. In terms of timing, allowing 2-3 hours at Sakura Town is probably sufficient, and 30-40 minutes is all you really need at teamLab. This means that the Tokorozawa trip is best scheduled for an afternoon. If you aim to leave Tokyo around 1pm, you can look forward to an easy day out.

While it seems that you can explore the teamLab exhibit in light rain, the paths could get a bit slippery, so we recommend going on a clear day—or at least checking the official site before you set off.

Tickets to teamLab Acorn Forest

Entry tickets can be purchased in advance online, or at the ticket booth on the day.

It costs ¥ 900 for adults for entry from Monday to Thursday, and ¥ 1,100 for entry on Fridays, weekends and holidays.

Note that the exhibition is closed on Tuesdays, as well as in strong rain and windy conditions.

Check out Sakura Town

Sakura Town in Saitama is a pop-culture hub comprising several different parts.

The Kadokawa Culture Museum

Tokorozawa Sakura Town made international headlines when it announced its core feature—the Kadokawa Culture Museum . This museum, which is the gray, cuboid granite building pictured here, was designed by the legendary Kengo Kuma —giving it instant architectural cred.

Kuma is also the man behind the New National Stadium in Tokyo, as well as the Asakusa Culture and Tourism Center , among other notable works.

The Kadokawa Museum is named after the Kadokawa Corporation, the Japanese publishing house that developed Sakura Town in partnership with the Tokorozawa local government. Kadokawa is well known for its manga publications.

The Kadokawa Museum features a library with a “theater of books” (including, unsurprisingly, thousands of manga titles), a dedicated anime museum, art gallery and science section, as well as displays on book publishing, and a cafe.

Outside the museum is a shallow pond/water feature, which, in an unusual move for Japan, you are actually allowed to paddle in. This is nice for the kids, who can splash around on a warm day.

Tickets to the Kadokawa Museum

Standard admission tickets cost ¥ 1,200 for adults, and must be booked online . These give you access to the fourth-floor “Edit Town” installation (all about editing, in case the name wasn’t clear) and Bookshelf Theater, as well as the fifth-floor Musashino Corridor and Gallery.

To access just the first-floor manga and light novel library, you’ll need to cough up ¥ 600 , while special exhibitions in the Grand Gallery on the same floor cost ¥ 1,600 .

It’s ¥ 3,000 for a 1-day passport on Mondays to Thursdays, and ¥ 4,000 on Fridays and Saturdays. These give you access to everything at the museum, including the special exhibitions in the Grand Gallery.

Note that tickets to the EJ Anime Museum, which is on the third floor of the Kadokawa Culture Museum, need to be purchased separately. They are priced at ¥ 1,500 for basic entry (advance booking). The ticket website is in Japanese.

Other features of Tokorozawa Sakura Town include a hyper-modern Japanese pop shrine (the Musashino Reiwa Shrine, also designed by Kengo Kuma), a rather pricey anime-themed hotel (the EJ Anime Hotel ), expected to be popular among cosplayers and otaku, an events hall, restaurants and office space.

Getting to teamLab Acorn Forest and Sakura Town

The closest train station to teamLab and Sakura Town is Higashi-Tokorozawa. To get there from Shinjuku, you can take either the JR Saikyo Line, changing to the JR Musashino Line at Musashi-Urawa Station, or the JR Chuo Line, changing to the JR Musashino Line at Nishi-Kokubunji Station. Either way, the cost is ¥ 570 , meaning it’s ¥ 1,140 for the round-trip. Because those are JR lines, you can use the JR Pass , if you have one.

When you exit the ticket gates at Higashi-Tokorozawa Station, turn right and walk straight along the road for about 10 minutes. On either side, you’ll find cafes and restaurants, so you can stop in for seafood, Indian curry, coffee and more if you’re in need of fuel.

If you look down at the sidewalk, you’ll see manhole covers featuring anime characters; these indicate you’re heading in the direction of Sakura Town.

When you see this giant rabbit sign (it should be on the left side of the road), turn left immediately afterwards.

That will lead you to Higashi Tokorozawa Park, which houses teamLab, and then Sakura Town is across the road from teamLab. You can’t miss the looming Kadokawa Culture Museum building.

Bonus: There is also a playground in the park, where you can let the kids burn off any extra energy before heading back into Tokyo.

豐洲的teamLab Planets展設資訊

作品一：錦鯉與人共舞所描繪之水面圖——無限

踏入水中走動，可以看見彷彿有無數錦鯉在無限延伸的水面游動，當觸碰到人時，會變成花朵散去，而且花朵還會根據季節變化，出現的是當月該地區的花朵唷！特別的是，這些作品都是電腦即時呈現，所以是無法回放、無法複製，每一刻當下都是最獨特的！

作品二：無窮無盡的水晶宇宙

作品概念是透過類似點彩繪畫，用各種彩點繪製圖像，但這是透過光點的累積打造而成的立體作品。遊客可以透過手機的互動，向作品「投入」星星造型，作品就會和星星開始互動而改變，所以會隨著不同人、更多人互動，時刻產生變化。

作品三：漂浮於落花世界

參觀者需要坐下、甚至躺下來欣賞這個作品，一年四季的花朵，會隨著時間花開花落，花朵向前向後、向上向下移動的時候，彷彿感覺自己的身體也是漂浮在空中，和這個花花世界融為一體了。同樣的這個也不是錄製的影像，都是電腦即時出現，所以每一眼都是獨特且稍縱即逝的唷！

作品一：漂浮的花園——花朵與我同根同源，花園與我合為一體

這個空間由立體的花一簇一簇組成，採用的是蘭科的鮮花，可以在沒有土壤的地方依靠空氣水分生長，成了名符其實的花園，可以在裡面自由漫步，空間也會不斷變動，為的就是讓人沈浸於花朵中，融為一體，真的讓人久久離不開視線！

作品二：苔蘚庭園中呼應的小宇宙群——固化光色，黃昏到黎明

展區的蛋狀物，名稱叫Ovoid，是會隨著日出日落改變樣貌顏色的物體。日出時，會反射出周圍的景色；日落時，則會發出共61種不同的彩色變化。人們可以嘗試推倒這個Ovoid，會慢慢彈回來，彷彿個不倒翁，還會發出很特別的音色，旁邊其他的Ovoid也會跟著呼應，就這樣擴散出去，是個極具聲色的展示品！

作品一：從空中噴湧而出的焰粒子世界

作品由氣體燃燒所產生的分子運動軌跡，在空間中描繪出線條，構成火焰，我們站上去時，會產生黑色，影響火焰的形狀。而且特別的是，如果你使用teamLab的專屬APP靠近火焰，就會有「點燃」你的手機的特效，可以把作品「帶回家」，甚至靠近別人手機時還可以傳遞給其他人唷！

作品二：一線相連的長椅

看起來是一條延綿的長椅，好像用一筆畫完成一樣，透過平面、曲面，可以把長椅想像成不同的功能，可以拿來坐、拿來吃飯當餐桌、拿來當休息的躺椅等等。這個看起來像個雕塑的作品，也連結到建築物的前台，彷彿無縫相連一樣，主要傳達「有機且有連續性」的概念。

Meiji Shrine and Senso-ji are the two best places to explore Japanese history. They would help you to get a basic understanding of historical Japanese beliefs.

Meiji Shrine is ideal for exploring Japanese history and traditional religious culture. Many Japanese believe that Meiji Shrine is blessed and protected by the gods, so it is a popular place for praying for luck or having traditional Japanese weddings. If you're lucky enough, you might witness one of these beautiful wedding ceremonies.

Senso-ji is the most-visited temple in Tokyo. Its giant red lantern at Kaminarimon Gate and the medieval shopping street of Nakamise-dori are well-known landmarks. You could immerse yourself in the Edo-vibe and experience how people used to pray and shop during the Edo period (1603–1868).

If you're not interested in temples and only plan to visit one, Senso-ji is the better choice for a rich cultural experience. We advise visiting at least one to gain a better understanding of Japanese history.

Mount Fuji is the symbol of Japan. Although spending just 3 days in Tokyo may seem too tight to allow a trip out to the nearby countryside, we highly recommend a day trip to visit this iconic mountain.

The best place to view Mount Fuji is Lake Kawaguchi , which is a 2-hour drive from Tokyo. Thanks to its unimpeded visibility and numerous observation decks, you would have a better chance of viewing Mount Fuji.

You would usually see Fuji's snow-covered summit, except from June to September when the snow will have melted. It's particularly charming during the cherry blossom season, from late March to early April.

During your 3-day stay in Tokyo, it's best to divide your time into three different areas for sightseeing. This way, you could save more time at the attractions instead of wasting it on commuting between different areas.

Here are the itinerary details for your inspiration:

• Day 1: West Tokyo (Meiji Shrine, teamLab Borderless, and Shibuya)
• Day 2: East Tokyo (Senso-ji, Tokyo Skytree, and Ueno Park)
• Day 3: Mount Fuji day trip

Day 1: West Tokyo

You would start by visiting Meiji Shrine. After that, explore interactive teamLab Borderless and Shibuya.

Stop 1: Meiji Shrine

Begin your day at Meiji Shrine in the downtown area. It's a wooden shrine surrounded by towering trees. Once you enter, you would feel like you're in a natural forest park rather than the bustling city center.

We suggest visiting for about 2 hours. It takes about 30 minutes to walk along the tree-lined pathway from the gate to the shrine.

Admiring Meiji Shrine in the morning is better as it has a more serene atmosphere with fewer visitors. What's more, you would have a better chance of witnessing a Japanese wedding in the morning.

The shrine is very crowded during the New Year period (January 1–3) and Golden Week (April 29 to May 5). During these times, millions of visitors flock to the shrine for blessing ceremonies. If you happen to travel during these times, we would arrange an later visit to escape the large crowds.

Take a 10–20-minute walk from the gate of Meiji Shrine, and you would arrive at the modern districts of Harajuku and Omotesando. Enjoy some lunch and shopping in these areas.

Stop 2: teamLab Borderless

Next, head to teamLab Borderless. This amazing digital art museum features exhibitions like light shows and interactive natural elements. It's worthwhile to spend 2–3 hours fully immersing yourself in them.

One of the biggest highlights is the Tea House . You could see magic flowers bloom in your ice cream cup for as long as there is ice cream inside it.

To capture better photos, wearing light-colored clothes is helpful. Avoid wearing a dress or skirt as the exhibition floor is made of glass.

Stop 3: Shibuya

End your first day in lively Shibuya. Being one of the most famous intersections globally, many travelers want to experience walking across this bustling crossing. To see a panoramic view of the crossing, the Starbucks located on the second floor is the perfect spot.

Shibuya boasts abundant restaurants, shops, and unique Japanese stores. You could have dinner and explore on your own for the rest of your time there.

Day 2: East Tokyo

On day 2, explore Tokyo's most-visited temple — Senso-ji, enjoy a panoramic city view at Tokyo Skytree, and appreciate a Japanese garden at Ueno Park.

Stop 1: Senso-ji

Senso-ji is Tokyo's iconic landmarks. Appreciate the famous large red lantern at the gate and wander through medieval Nakamise-dori shopping street. Spend about 2 hours exploring Senso-ji and its surroundings.

Senso-ji is typically filled with large crowds from 9am to 5pm year-round, especially on weekends and public holidays. You're highly recommended to arrive as early as possible to avoid the crowds. If you are not interested in shopping for pricier souvenirs at Nakamise-dori, you could visit from 7 to 8am.

Stop 2: Tokyo Skytree

Driving for about 10 minutes, you would arrive at Japan's tallest tower, Tokyo Skytree. Spend about 2–3 hours at the tower to get a full view of Tokyo and explore other interesting experiences at the tower.

It has two observation decks: Tembo Deck at 350 meters (1,150 feet) and Tembo Galleria at 450 meters (1,480 feet). You're advised to visit Tembo Deck . Although it's lower, it offers a similar view to the higher one and excellent photo opportunities. In contrast, Tembo Galleria's poor lighting makes it a challenge to take good photos. It also has longer elevator wait times.

Tokyo Skytree also offers exciting activities that could enrich your trip. For example, visit the gallery to view historical photos taken during the tower's construction, visit the indoor aquarium, or explore Pokémon Center.

Stop 3: Ueno Park

Lastly, explore Ueno Park. This popular Japanese garden is beautiful all year round, especially from late March to early April due to the cherry blossom. You could spend a leisurely 2–3 hours or more there, immersing yourself in this park's natural beauty.

You could also visit some famous museums there. For example, Tokyo National Museum, the National Museum of Western Art, and the National Museum of Nature and Science.

The entire park is spacious and brimming with gems waiting to be explored. If you wish to admire the museum exhibits at a leisurely pace, we recommend visiting the museums before 4pm , as most of the museums at Ueno Park close at 5pm.

Day 3: A Day Trip to View Mount Fuji at Lake Kawaguchi

Admiring iconic Mount Fuji is a must-do for many travelers. It's definitely worth including in your tight 3-day Tokyo schedule as a day tour.

Lake Kawaguchi is the best place to appreciate Mount Fuji from. It offers unencumbered visibility, better chances to view the mountain, more observation decks, and quite convenient access (approximately 2 hours by car from Tokyo).

We recommend having a private car with a driver at Lake Kawaguchi. Public transportation in Kawaguchiko is not very convenient, so if you don't have a private car, you may end up wasting a lot of time waiting for buses.

There are four main ways to visit Mount Fuji: boating, taking a cable car, hiking, and biking. We suggest choosing one or two ways to admire the mountain.

• Boating on the lake is most recommended among the options. You could enjoy the unbroken scenery of Mount Fuji in an interesting and relaxing way. A boat ride takes 2 hours.
• Riding in a ropway is an effortless way to enjoy the views. You could admire Mount Fuji from a high observation deck at the top, but there isn't much to experience there. The queue and the ropeway ride up the mountain take about 20–30 minutes.
• Hiking and biking require moderate physical exertion. You could enjoy the view from various angles at your own pace. If you get tired, there are cafés along the way where you could take a break. Hiking or biking usually takes about 2 hours.

You're advised to stay at the same hotel for your 3 days in Tokyo. Tokyo has convenient transportation, so there's no need to switch to a hotel in a specific area just to be close to its attractions. Plus, it would be unnecessarily tiring to switch hotels — repacking, carrying, and re-unpacking your luggage.

We recommend staying in the Shinjuku downtown area. It's convenient for most attractions, train stations, and the airport, with plenty of restaurants nearby, and it is easy for you to explore on your own from there.

Almost all star-rated hotels in Tokyo offer high-quality service, very clean rooms, and a well-equipped environment. In Tokyo, as well as in Japan, check-in is usually after 2pm and check-out before 10am.

Since land in Tokyo is valuable, rooms in 3–4 star hotels are typically small, ranging from 18 to 25 square meters (194–269 square feet). However, they might seem larger in photos, so be sure to pay attention to the actual size.

Tokyo has a highly-acclaimed public transportation system, providing easy access to attractions by subway. However, it could be a challenge for most first-timers. Some train stations are large and Google Maps may lose its ability to navigate underground at times.

You may end up spending more time at the station trying to locate the right subway or accidentally boarding the wrong one, as multiple subways pass through a single platform.

To make the most of your 3-day stay in Tokyo, you're highly recommended to have a private car . In this way, you would save time and energy by going directly to the attractions and minimizing the hassle of getting there.
