Starlight Dinner Cruise - Very Average

This was a real disappointment for me. My wife and I had taken a lunchtime harbour cruise with Captain Cook Cruises a few years ago and enjoyed the experience but for a special occasion I do not recommend the Starlight Dinner Cruise. The views are good as you cruise around the harbour and the entertainer/singer was quite okay,although was performing in the room below, but it is mainly for overseas tourists and the food was really below standard and presented as such. For what it cost it is way overpriced. With our first course it was served cold, which could have been either, but the main was definitely supposed to be hot. My meal was lukewarm and my wife's vegetarian option was warm on the surface but still cold on the inside. It was returned to be heated up and arrived back, hot, but had suffered from the "zapping" it obviously had received in a microwave. Dessets were good but too late to save the night. We were glad when the 2.5 hour cruise was over and were returned to dry land.

This is a lovely way to spend an evening. The boat is very nice and comfortable and Sydney Harbor is magnificent. The food service was a bit pedestrian and the food was average best while the music was more lounge quality; but you are really paying to cruise the harbor and there really is nothing like it in the world. Beautiful vistas of the bridge, the Opera House, and surrounding areas. Overall, a nice evening and worth the money.

I did the morning Coffee Cruise on Saturday and had a ball. Lots of fantastic photo ops! The guide was lovely, very knowledgeable and she was very funny! Definitely a must do!

Very ordinary - this was supposed to be the better one of the tours. The boat was old and ugly - nothing like the one in the picture! A lady tour guide rambled on and seemed to be harbouring some socialist bent against anyone who could afford one of the beautiful harbour homes - she was joking of course but I guess it was just not to my taste. I expected better coffee too.. Barely warm, nasty stuff; maybe don't refer to the coffee if your going to serve that stuff. The trip itself was lovely because well, it's the Sydney harbour and it's glorious - bur frankly, I can do without the inane commentary. Sorry.. Facts and interesting information told with a sense of theatre I get - but I couldnt stand the dumbing down of the information. I'm sure the guide was a very nice lady... But hmmm... Not my style (Ever watched the librarians on ABC? - she sounded just like the main character...and it wasn't funny). I was hoping to learn something and have a lovely ferry trip for my $49 - but I just got the ferry trip & some undrinkable coffee.

The one you are referring to is Matilda 3 which was recently refurbished and is used extensively for weddings and private functions. We are currently reviewing our coffee quality and style of service and we are pleased to advise that we will be changing our supplier to Vittoria Coffee and offering it espresso style from the start of November 2012. We had a beautiful day to go out in the Harbour. The boat was well maintained and had plenty of seating on the top deck. The views were terrific. We got to see the city skyline the Harbour Bridge, and the Sydney Opera House. We would recommend taking a Harbour boat tour; and Captain Cook provided a nice tour.

Monday 1st October 2012 Three of us paid $109 dollars each for the Starlght Dinner, it was a special occasion and also a great disappointment and waste of money. It seemed that all packages offered were served in the same dining area, which was not how it was marketed. We arrived and had to wait 45 minutes for our wine order, we were unaware that the $109 price didn't include wine although we did receive a glass of bubbly each. The wine cost us another $45 for 1 bottle. The starters were cold, though we weren't sure if they were supposed to be so ate them anyway. However when the main course arrived cold as well we had to send it back. It was replaced with a meal that was hot but had been served on a cold plate so it was cold before we'd finished eating it. The dessert was passable. The waitress that served us was charming but rushed off her feet, there were clearly not enough staff employed. We did not receive water on the table as others had done. It was very difficult to find anyone to complain to and as we didnt want the evening to deteroriate any further we decided to pursue the matter the following day. We phoned the number on the brochure and were fobbed of with an email address to send our complaints to which was for Tony at [email protected] We emailed immediately and have had no response at all. Now I've read the reviews on Trip Advisor I draw the conclusion that Captain Cook Cruises are just not interested in the customer once they have their money, it seems non of the complaints are dealt with in a proper manner, and I would urge people to think very seriously before wasting their money with this company.

However you can choose to add a standard or premium package and this is highlighted from just $25pr person. Our wine prices are comparable with on-shore restaurants and we do monitor this at all times, -On the quieter nights we will combine the various dining combinations into one level to add to the atmosphere and we are sorry if this did not appeal to your taste, - We have two entrees and the first is served cold and second one is served hot. - We have noted your comments regarding the cold plates and be rest assured this is noted and followed up with the chef on that night. Finally, we believe that we have acted in a most professional manner to your comments and it is disappointing to read that you have written that we take no action at all.
